El Hotel de los Secretos #59, 4/19/16: Tuesday's Highlights

Sorry.  I waited for the episodio to come down from HULU as long as I could.  Highlights follow from other recappers kind enough to pick up my slack:

Highlights From Julie:
Olegario is a suspect in Romulo's murder, but when questioned by Ayala and Dagoberto, he transfers the suspicion onto Felipe.

- While Genaro is being buried at the cemetery, Felipe shows Jorge Genaro's secret stash of cash hidden beneath the floor at the cantina. Felipe hopes this will satisfy his ransom demand, but Jorge specifically wants money from the hotel.

- Alfredo and Elise are both stunned that Sofia has come home. Beatriz thinks this would be a good time to leave. With Victoria's help, Elise spells out to Beatriz that Alfredo's baby isn't Sofia's, and Sofia cannot have children. (I'm not sure if she also makes it clear that the baby isn't Alfredo's either.)

- Teresa tells Isabel that Felipe's been kidnapped and tells her not to tell anyone else, especially the police. But when Ayala says that he wants to question Felipe about his father's death, Isabel lets the cat out of the bag!

Highlights From Cathyx:

*Sofia has moved back to her suite and Alfredo and Beatriz come back to the room with the baby. Awkward! Now with a clear, not drug-addled brain, Sofia is more engaging with the baby and life in general. She apologizes for what she’s done, but Alfredo isn’t accepting it, he packs his bags and moves to another room.

*Ignacio asks Matilde to be novios again. She puts him off, but he will keep trying.

*Isabel talks Angela into accepting moving upstairs.

*Andres goes into the secret room to look around.

*Teresa tells Isabel about Filipe being kidnapped. She doesn’t want the police involved because they will kill him. If she only knew....

*On the advice from the doctor, Lupe asks Andres if he would give Gabriel a job. Andres says yes.

*Filipe learns that Genaro has died, he wants to see him. He convinces Jorge to let him go by telling him that he knows where Genaro hid his money. They get it.

*Ayala is interrogating Olegario, Andres finds out and gives the news to Belen. Wee find out during the interrogation that Oleg found out about the will change from Filipe. Interesting! Filipe very mad Rom was giving everything to Andres.

*Oleg said Filipe went with him to get the arsenic from the factory. On the way to get the arsenic, it was Filipe who came up with the idea of how to get use the arsenic to get rid of their problem.

*Lupe and Natalia tell Jacinto what they think of what he did to Gabriel.

*Julio tells Andres to not sign anything yet, Oleg has something up his sleeve and he needs to tread carefully. Julio reminds Andres that Belen showed up with them and is in on the plan, so be careful. Andres doesn’t want Julio to disparage Belen.

*Isabel learns that Oleg is accusing Filipe of being involved with the murder. Isabel then tells Ayala that Filipe has been kidnapped. She tells him about the finger, he wants to do a fingerprint analysis to see if it’s his.

*Elisa tells Beatriz that the baby isn’t Alfredo’s or Sofias.

*Jorge tells Filipe that they are giving the money to Malibea.

*Oleg makes a business proposition to Elisa. He wants to mine for oil on her land and it will make them both rich, aligning Oleg, Elisa, Andres, Belen and the baby.

Thanks again to CathyX and Julie!!

Sorry, Jardinera. I can't help. The jet lag has been hitting me hard, and I haven't been able to stay up to watch the show. Fingers crossed I can stay awake tonight, but I will likely not be able to recap until tomorrow morning before I head to FL.

I'm having the same problem because I watch on Hulu too. I hope they remember to put it up today.

Oh, this is weird. They just put the new one up this moment.

A couple of quick notes that I can remember:

- Olegario is a suspect in Romulo's murder, but when questioned by Ayala and Dagoberto, he transfers the suspicion onto Felipe.

That's all I can remember right now.

One more note:

- Teresa tells Isabel that Felipe's been kidnapped and tells her not to tell anyone else, especially the police. But when Ayala says that he wants to question Felipe about his father's death, Isabel lets the cat out of the bag!

I liked Jorge/Manuela and his/her posse being happy about Génaro's death and Felipe being totally unsure of his fate if his family does not pay up. Will they really kill him? Jorge/Manuela just keeps laughing.

The Univision web site for this telenovela shockingly displays a prominent spoiler headline for the next capitulo which involves Diego. Don't look, if you want to be surprised.

Thanks for the warning, Gobluefan! And thank you for the bullets, Cathyx.

Thanks Julie and Cathyx!

What is Elise thinking by telling Beatriz this truth? What could she gain by it after all the trouble she went to over establishing the baby as Alfraido's son? Is she stupid enough to trust Oleg, who seems to be out only for himself.

Urban - I'm confused by that too - why she told Beatriz the baby isn't theirs. But maybe it doesn't matter now that he's legally registered as his son?

And yeah Oleg is enlisting all the allies he can and I personally wouldn't trust him with a banana peel. I was actually feeling pretty neutral towards him until he threw Felipe under the bus. I don't think he would have done that if he were innocent. And even if he's innocent of poisoning Romulo, incriminating Felipe is a seriously awful thing.

Not that I would bet the farm on Felipe's innocence either, but it's one thing to be angry and bitter with your father and another thing to kill him - especially when you know you're not going to inherit anyway. It makes more sense to keep him alive and try to get him to change his mind.

I also think cousin Ignacio is the GKK. No solid reason, just a feeling. I think he's near enough yet distant enough to be responsible for both the local and out-of-town murders. Now that he's making romantic noises at Matilde, let's see if she can live up to all of the advice she gave Isabel earlier.

Thanks Julie and Cathyx!

Thank you Gobluefan for the heads up.

It seemed that Felipe was genuinely upset about Genaro's death.

I don't think Felipe is smart enough--or sober enough--to come up with the poisoning plan. Plus, he's too lazy.

Did Jacinto call someone a bad word when he was being confronted by Nat? It seemed liked they edited something he was saying out.

From Monday's ep: What did Belen say to Angela when she showed up at Andres' suite.

Nanette

Nanette: Yes, I think something Jacinto said got (silent) bleeped. So now he's not just a lippy thug, he's a lippy thug with a filthy mouth.

From Monday: Belen complained about Angela barging in and said they had things to do, so make it quick. I don't remember her saying anything else, but maybe I missed something.

I think Felipe is like a schoolyard bully in that he has no problem taunting others but lacks the courage for real violence. Also the cold-bloodedness and intelligence to plan it efficiently and get away with it.

Thanks all, I fell asleep from this darn bug I'm fighting before it ended.

Though I thoroughly enjoyed a fired up, strong, angry Felippe telling his father off in Oleg's fantasy, I didn't buy it that he thought up the arsenic plan. Totally out of character, but the actor was sublime in that confrontation. Let's face it, Rom was not father or businessman of the year. Frankly, I thought the position he put Angela and his son in was uncalled for. He could done better for them well before than. Teresa is no saint, but Rom caused a lot of this mess we see.

Oleg is lining up all his victims like the good con that he is, and I'm guessing most will fall for this hook, line and sinker. I love Andres, but he's gullible, the rest are greedy. I can see Alfie buying in as well if approached.

Seeing that meeting at the bridge with Violetta and Gabe was so sad. I didn't catch too much of the dialog. But they are so heartbreaking to watch. Lupe pulling Jacinto outside by the scruff of the hair/necj literally to confront Nat was priceless!

Thanks for the various accounts guys...I was watching this after lunch and dozed off during part of it. I did like the scene where Felipe and Jorge fell on top of each other, while trying to extricate Genaro's loot. Was waiting to see if that curious attraction would surface again, but the dinero seemed to be the most important thing on either of their minds.

Come to think of it, that seems to be most everybody's motivation and Belen's poor baby is in the midst of it all.

Judy, I thought I did see that curious attraction when Jorge was on top of Felipe. There was an awkward, needlessly long pause before they got up, like they were both trying to think up a good excuse to stay on the floor a little longer.

Tks all for pitching in

I don't get Alfredo, he defends his wife to his mom, yet he is not a kind, understanding husband to Sofia. Poor Sofia fell down the stairs, partially Freddys fault, lost her baby. He should know by this time that Teresa is a manipulator & Sofia is weak & was depressed. Sure she should have confided in her husband, but he should get why she didn't. No wonder she got it on with Padre Fake.

I don't think we are finished with the fake Padre yet. I think he is a revolutionary hiding out, but what did he do with the real Padre? I'm guessing the real Padre, took him in & just died, great opportunity, for Padre guapo to hide out.

I am so awed by all these performances, not a weak one in the bunch.

Variopinta: Good point, I had forgotten that it all started with Sofia falling down the stairs. Alfredo had packed a bag and was going to leave the hotel (and apparently Sofia) because Teresa picked Diego over him to be director of the hotel. Jerk.

I don't think we are finished with the padre either. I don't know if he's a revolutionary, but it definitely feels like unfinished business. Maybe Alfredo will go there to ask his opinion of Sofia, or Sofia will go there herself for some sweet, sweet lovin'. Or Elisa will have a sudden attack of conscience and follow up on what the bishop told her. Or the bishop will have a sudden attack of diligence and follow up on it himself and we'll find out the padre is Diego's twin brother. I'm open to whatever!

I don't recall WHO actually sent the " Finger"? Did I miss something? Is it possible this is another ploy by Diego to extract money from Teresa by faking the box being sent by the bandidos? Also should Jacinto realize that DIEGO set him up to be caught in a "trampa" in the shoutout....another casualty as he likes to do-in anyone who knows too much. Jacinto needs to end Diego's bidding.
Also, I get that Cecila helped Julio but talk about a mismatched pair! Why is Belen so adament to get the baby back...she sold her children to the devil, and she is one cold hearted woman!

Remember the assasin is left handed, is Romulo's brother and nephew left hended? Or will the killings resume now that Sophis is out?

Fromm JulieDM

JulieDM, I think you did miss something - the finger was definitely sent by Jorge. On Monday night when Felipe was saying he didn't think his family would pay the ransom, Jorge told him that they'd already sent a finger to warn Teresa that she'd get Felipe's corpse if she didn't pay. (I don't know whose finger it was, because Felipe still has all of his.)

Belen sold ONE child to Teresa, but then she tried to back out of the deal before it was born. Teresa took the baby anyway. Then Sofia killed it and they took the other one too. Their deal did NOT include free replacements! All things considered, I don't blame her for feeling a little possessive.

Jorge seems to have a grudge against Teresa and/or the hotel. Wonder if that's just a class-warfare type of thing, or if there's a more personal connection. Like maybe she and/or her brothers used to work there and weren't treated well.

Or... could Jorge be related to the doctor? Maybe she's his long-lost (supposedly dead) daughter. That would rather neatly tie up the doctor's backstory, as to why he was so keen to hang around at the hotel with that crazy family for so long - maybe he's looking for his daughter. He never did tell Isabel what her name was.

Julie: thanks for the info about Belen/Angela. I could tell she was trying to lord it over her, but didn't know to what degree.

Also, like your idea about Manuela being the doc's daughter. Maybe he didn't actually say she had died. Or maybe, she was "dead" to him and now he's regretting it.

Oh, Julie. What a GREAT idea on Manuela!! That would tie in so well with why we got her character and this mystery daughter of the doctor's. Has the doc ever mentioned other children? It would explain why he's in the area, being he might have heard they were operating or seen in that vicinity.
I would like to know why they turned to this life of crime and pillaging. That's some pricey stuff they have sitting in that cave.

Daisynjay

The doctor has never mentioned having other children, but then, he doesn't talk about himself much anyway. When does he even have time to talk about himself? When he's not at the hospital, he's listening to Teresa's problems. Nobody ever asks him anything. It's just as well; he's said before that people are entitled to their secrets. No doubt he is such a person himself.

Oleg said it was Felipe's idea to poison Rom (so he knew about it), then that makes him an accessory, doesn't it?

Thank you! I believe the Doc mentioned that his daughters name was Maria. But this could have been just a hoax story eitherway to cave Isabel in his games.
