Pasion y Poder #132 20160425 Mufasa Would Never Act Like This!

I rely on CCs to recap.  They were horrible last night.  Please fill in anything that I have missed.  Thanks.

So we're back at the casket, where observes Nina grieving for her daughter.  In Art's brain, they are sharing a moment, so he reaches out to caress her hand.  Nina let's him touch her for a few seconds, but then withdraws her hand.  She looks at him like he's got the cooties or something as she clutches a flower that she pulled from the casket.

Anyway, Julia, the shameless hussy, walks right in (followed by her cuckhold, Eladio) and walks up to Art.  She hugs him and he thanks her for coming. Anyways, Julia the shameless, hussy turns to offer her condolences to Nina.  Instead of smackin' Julia, Nina tells Julia to hit the bricks and to take Art with her.  She blames Julia and Art for Dani's unhappiness and overdose.  Art reminds Nina that he has the right to stay because he sired Dani.  Eladio pulls Nina away.

Julia goes over to Dave and tells him that she is there to support him.  Dave doesn't understand why she's there because she's never liked Dani.  Julia refrains from explaining to him why any sane mother would never want her son hooking up with a drug addicted tramp.  Exhibit #1, drug addicted tramps sometimes overdose and die.  Then everyone has to carve time out of their busy schedules to mourn the drug addict and say that they are "now at peace" as the parents sob over the casket.

In another part of the Shady Pines, Eladio tells Nina that he has always thought of Dani as the coke head daughter that he never wanted.  Nina is grateful. Later, Eladio leaves alone.

After being rejected by Dave, Julia tells Art that she's going to bounce because nobody, including her own son wants her there.  Art wants Julia to stay.  He can't believe that the love of his life is standing in front of him, but the kid that he loves is gone.  Julia tells Art to go back to his family because they need him right now.  He's obsessing about how he can hurt Ashmore.  Again, she tells him to go to his kids because they need him.  Julia will see him in the morning.

After Eladio leaves, Nina goes back to the casket and asks for Art.  Erick blames Art for Dani's death.  Nina, Gina and Erick group hug.

Nina thanks Dave for "being there for Dani" and making her happy.

It's the next morning-I think.  They showed night and then day, but everyone was still at the Shady Pines.  So, I got a little confused.

Out in the hallway, Auggie tries to comfort Art.  Art is all upset because he should have been a better parent.  Auggie tells him to stop blaming himself.  Art says that he can't wake up from this nightmare.

Over at the Gomez-Luna mansion, Humberto tells Julia that she must support Art more than ever now.  Julia wants to support Dave.  Humberto reminds her daughter that no one wants their kid kickin' it with a drug addicted tramp that might have a nasty woman's disease.  Julia tells Humberto not to speak ill of the dead.  She gets all indignant and storms out of the room.  She's knows that he's right.

Anyway, back at the Shady Pines, Nina and Art are back at the casket.  Art must have forgotten to put his phone on stun.  It totally rings and the jerk answers it.  It's the fuzz.  They want to use him as a human shield when they go arrest Ashmore.  Art excuses himself and announces that he should be back in time for the service.  On the way out the door, TMZ asks how he feels about the death of his kid.  Art rough the reporter up a little bit and tosses his camera.  Art doesn't have time to give him the heave ho, but Miguel takes over and gives him the crazy eye.  He might have threatened to shove the camera up an orifice, but like I said, my cc's were horrible.  Miguel goes to Nina and tells her that he's sorry about Dani.  They hug it out.

Ashmore, who might be the stupidest American EVER, his hanging out in his hotel room, watching TMZ and packing his bags.  Some one has died!  Get out of Dodge, ya moron!  Anyways, while he's watching the latest news on the death of Dani Montenegro Perez there is a knock at the door.  Either the police are using Art as a human shield, or Art thinks that he's bullet proof because Art (the dumbest Mexican on the planet) is the first person to step into the hotel room of a "major drug dealer".  So the police let Art get in a swing or two before they arrest Ashmore.  Anways, the police have a search warrant and find the drugs in the first place they look.  Ashmore (he's really making American's look bad) has "hidden" a drugs and cash in the night stand, right next to the Gideon Bible.  The police say that the amount he had is not for recreational use.  He's a dealter.  They haul him off to jail.

Nina and Gina have returned home from Shady Pines.  Nina is tightly clutching an urn that contains Dani's ashes.  They go into Nina's bedroom where Petra is standing.  Gina asks where the baby is and Petra says that Erick has him.  Nina sits down on a couch and continues to hug and caress her urn.  Gina kneels down in front of her and offers to trade the baby for the urn.  Babies are cute, soft and cuddly.  That old urn is cold and hard. It doesn't go with the décor either. The baby misses her.  Nina agrees to think about it.  Anyways, Gina comforts her sobbing mother.

Meanwhile, in another part of the house, Erick has taken EJ out on the balcony for a drunken Lion King moment.  He lifts crying EJ over the balcony and declares that all of his grandfather's land and stuff will be his (EJ's) one day.  Nina has finally decided to put down the ashes and pick up the baby.  N/Gina hear the baby wailing and run out on the balcony.  Nina threatens to take the baby (as in child protective service take) from him.  They can't believes he's drunk and holding the baby over the balcony.  Mufasa wasn't drunk when he held Simba over the cliff...duh!

Anyway Gina takes the baby downstairs.  He's got a fever or something.  Erick follows Nina into Dani's bedroom and confronts her about her threats.  Nina tells Erick that she's going to tell the judge to give the baby back to Connie.  Art walks in and tells Erick that the jig is up.  Art knows that Erick was doing business with Ashmore.  Erick didn't care that Ashmore was supplying his sister with drugs.  Erick was doing business with Ashmore simply to hurt Art.  Erick denies this.  Nina tells Erick that it had better not be true.  She will never forgive him, if it is.  Art fires Erick.  Erick doesn't care because his name is still Montenegro and he has shares in the company.  Art and Nina look at one another.  They are on the same page.

Erick goes downstairs and grabs that cute little EJ who is wearing a jacket with teddy bear ears.  Miguel and Connie have arrived to take him to the doctor.  He's got a fever.  Drunk Mufasa is leaving with his baby.  Everybody is trying to get the baby from Erick.  Art runs downstairs and demands that Erick give the baby to Consuelo.  Erick gives the baby to Consuelo.  Gina takes Nina upstairs to rest.

At the hospital, EJ is placed in an incubator where he happily plays with loose wires.  If he doesn't die from the mysterious fever, he will surely choke himself to death.  Connie and Miguel are too busy smooching over him to care.  Connie's happy that everyone now realizes that Erick is a jerk.  She will tell the judge that Erick wouldn't even take the sick baby to the hospital.  They hug while EJ wraps the cord around his neck.

Dave sits in his underwear in the dark, looking at photos of Dani.  He strokes the screen and says that he doesn't understand.

Erick visits the Ashmore in the cell.  He tells Ashmore that the deal is off.  He wants his cash back.  Ashmores says that the money is gone and invested.  Erick says that nothing was signed.  He accuses Ashmore of killing his sister.  He wants Ashmore to die in jail.  Art is listening to the entire conversation.

Dave put the photos on a thumb drive and took the pictures over to the Montenegro mansion.  He gives them to Gina and they embrace for a long time.  He tells her to give them to Nina.

Marcos and Franco are stealing more cash.  Franco tells Marcos that Eladio is preoccupied with Dani and Dave so they need to strike fast.  I think.

Marcos presents his report to Eladio and Eladio immediately finds a mistake.  He wants Marcos to explain what happened.  Franco walks in with a article about Dani.  Eladio sees something shiny and forgets what he was yelling at Marcos about.  Franco saved the day.  Eladio says that they will talk later.

Franco visits Marintia with Champagne to celebrate his big score.

Franco visits Ashmore in jail and tells him that all of his cash is gone.  Ashmore is screwed.  Franco can't help him.

Julia visits Art and he breaks up with her.  Whatever.

Again, let me know if I got anything wrong or missed something.  My ccs were not working.

It was fun watching this show with you.  See you on Yago.  Peace.

Thank you Cynderella, it was worth staying up to read. So funny, it read like SNL skit when Consuelo and Miggie were smooching while EJ wrapped the cord around his neck. Also the part where Eladio told Nina that Dani was like a coke head daughter to him. My cc's were bad too. They were referring to Art as "Julio" really weird. Boy oh boy, I think the next thing to get uncovered is Eric's kidnapping of his own son. He is soooo stupid. Who kidnaps their own children??? Sorry, just venting.

Thanks again to you and everyone who recap and comment. It is all good, very entertaining for me when I want to relax and kick back. Takes my mind off my problems, especially when I read your funny recaps.

Leticia

Btw, I won't be watching Yago. Doesnt appeal to me in the least. But I do hope and anticipate the Angelique/Rulli novela, that appeals to me alot. It will help as I usually go through withdrawals at the end of any tn that I really like and watch faithfully.

Leticia

Thanks, Cynderella.

Humberto was true to form last night, showing no compassion whatsoever. When does his Karmageddon begin?

I don't consider Julia to be shameless here, just clueless. Eladio maybe should have gone alone and only for enough time to pay his respects, as he was Daniela's boss. He should then have spoken briefly to David to tell him to come to him or to his mother and left. But that would have eliminated some necessary drama.

Assmore should rot in prison. Now Arturo knows about Erick's perfidy in dealing with him. This is a bigger and more personal betrayal than early in this tale. He is going to regret not having lowered the boom on him for that one.

I will be watching Yago but will probably take a break from recapping for a little while. I don't think I can do my best work under the broadcast conditions and Flavio Medina drives me nuts with his mumbling. However, it will be interesting to finally see him clean-shaven for a change.

More later.

WOW Cynderella, you got this sterling recap from the same shit CCs I had? Then NASA needs you for when they start needing to translate Martian to English ! Thank You Thank You.

Cynderella,,
Thanks for the awesome recap. You had me LOL. Looks like things are starting to move forward. I am waiting for the next anvil to hit, hopefully it will be chimp boy. I can't stand the jerk. EJ only cries when he is with the chimp. I pray that he ends up sharing a jail cell with Ashmore.

Thanks again Cynderella!
Hasta Pronto

Let's assume that Ape Child ends up in the slammer. Whom do you think would be his worst potential cellmate?

-- a Mexican "Bubba"
-- Assmore
-- Franco
-- Pedro

There was a lot more conversation with Francofurter and MarcoMouse and Eladio but I could not catch it all. It appeared Franco was alerting Eladio to the fact that a hostile takeover might be in progress,(his). Did anyone get that?

Thanks in advance.

Right about a Mom celebrating (not)her son's relations with a crack ho who has seen more ceilings than Michalangelo. Why rehab one when there are plenty of great girls who have their self together. Really.

Ole Eladio is wound pretty tight. I am anticipating his coming unwound when Francofurter's plan starts coming to light. I agree with Carlos and a few others that Eladio is too shrewd, (and old) to let himself and his empire be plundered by a smelly little turd he should have flushed long ago.

Let's assume that Ape Child ends up in the slammer. Whom do you think would be his worst potential cellmate?

I have always had a soft spot for Hanibal Lecter. His flair would be a compliment to Ape Boy.

"Bowels in or bowels out? OK I will decide for you."
"You see, the brain itself feels no pain if that concerns you, Clarice."

And my favorite.
Clarice Starling: If you didn't kill him, then who did, sir?
Hannibal Lecter: Who can say. Best thing for him, really. His therapy was going nowhere.

Cynderella,

This is is hilariously wicked. I thoroughly enjoyed your incredibly funny recaps for this enjoyable TN. Thanks for sharing your mordant wit with us.

Kirbo,

I don't recall that Franco said anything about a hostile takeover, but he did alert the reporter to Dani's death and apparently instructed him to approach the story from the aspect that there have now been two models who work for Eladio's company who have died as a result of drug overdoses. Presumably he did this to distract Eladio from his and Marcos's machinations. It seemed to work since Eladio dismissed Marcos telling him that this other matter was more pressing. It looks as though he is going to have to call a press conference to address the matter.

Carlos

Another emotionally draining episode. Another fantastic recap.

Cynderella, I could not help but smile at "Art must have forgotten to put his phone on stun" and "Gina kneels down in front of her and offers to trade the baby for the urn. Babies are cute, soft and cuddly. That old urn is cold and hard. It doesn't go with the décor either". Thank you for the badly needed wry tone.

The night belonged to Jorge Salinas. His pain seemed all too real - my heart ached for him.

Just when the family thought they had hit rock bottom, they realize their son is a lying, traitorous scum. I'm glad the baby was all right - I had a heart in my throat moment when he was hositing him over the balcony. Nina and Arturo see him for who he is. Yes, Leticia, I am wondering if they will ever find out about the kidnapping. Add more salt to the gaping wound...

Was a bit surprised the police brought Art to Ashmore's room. Really, what were they thinking? And Ashmore, taking the time to carefully pack? Idiot.

Oh Franco, you may have bought more time last night but once Eladio's head gets back in the game, you don't stand a chance. As Erick was such an inept clown, I'm looking forward more to Franco's comeuppance. But there will be collateral damage - Gaby.

So, Art finally did break up with Julia? I couldn't tell if her reaction was surprise, pique or both.

Thank you Cynderella.

Diana

Cynderella, this was a magnificent PyP swan song. It was everything in my power not to bust out laughing here at work at some of your comments. Your imagery of the baby slowly working those wires and then the dumbest American and dumbest Mexican comment on Ass and Art (hey, sounds like a TV show)were priceless. Only in a TN do the cops let a civilian lead a bust. ( I might try Yago, though I'm more looking forward to the Rulli/Boyer remake of Three Faces.)

Julia is so beautiful and so amazingly clueless. David was right, she didn't need to be there and she should have known it would cause issues. Eladio had more right as Dani's employer to be there. I had the distinct feeling when she said goodbye, that look Art gave her was "yeah, it is for good." He had cut the ties right there.

So does she get back with Eladio or go it alone? I vote alone...and someone push that old coot down the stairs. What good are they anyway in that house?

I appreciated the Nina/Petra moment. That woman was really those kid's mother/nanny on a daily basis for much of their childhood's. She had some true pain as well with Dani gone and Nina was able to recognize that.

Honestly, I would say that I would rather Die Erick Die, but the idea of him slowly twisting in a jail cell's wind with his fellow orange jumpsuit buddies "making friends" with him has a certain appeal. I think Nina could deal now with him behind bars, another death...he's still her child and right after Dani. That's a bit much.

I'll be taking twin #1 to go visit twin #2 in Atlanta for their 25th birthday this weekend so I'll miss the finale, only have tomorrow I can watch. I will however look forward to the recaps and trying to catch it on Hulu when we get home. Don't like the 3 hour concept as it is.

Daisynjay

I had previously thought that Ashmore's plan was to take advantage of and swindle both Erick and Franco, but last night it sounded as though he actually trusted Franco with the money he bilked from Erick. What an idiot.

Carlos

Thanks for your great recap Cynderella and all the wonderful ones you've given us. This was hilarious -your observations about EJ possibly strangling himself, the stupid American and Mexican. So much fun. Hope to see you soon.

I was a bit disappointed that Nina didn't slap the taste out of Erick's mouth as he stood there lying to her and Art. He needs to start paying for his list of crimes now. After seeing Nina's reaction to Dani's death, I'm with Daisynjay, she should not have to endure another child dying. Off to jail (or under the jail) for him but not before his parents learn he kidnapped his own son.

I know money can buy a lot but the police allowing Art in on their bust of Ashmore was ridiculous. I'm surprised they didn't allow Art to beat him to a pulp right there. The fact that he allowed himself to be swindled by Franco, thanks Carlos, seems to be part of his downfall.

I've been thinking all along that Dani's death could be the only thing that reunites David and Regina. But in retrospect, Dani's death might have been the only thing that stopped Arturo's relentless pursuit of Julia. He now realizes he must try and put his shattered family together.

I thought the actor playing Erick has done a wonderful job. He portrayed Erick as a not too bright, deeply flawed character very well. The vacant facial expressions suited him to a "T".

daisy and Karen, I don't wish death for Erick either. Primarily for his parents sakes.

Diana

There was nothing to confirm this but I suspect that the police cut Arturo this slack because Assmore supplied the drugs that killed Daniela. They allowed him to be present for the arrest to help his closure, since the (in)justice system in Mexico doesn't have jury trials like we do here in El Norte. He got the satisfaction of seeing Assmore get arrested although this will not be enough to assuage his pain. That will take time.

The police got the evidence they needed when they searched the hotel room. The cocaine and the green pills (what could those be?) matched what he put in Daniela's purse.

Erick has no proof that Assmore took his money so he can't get it back. Too bad, so sad. NOT.

Erick's accusations at the funeral were disgusting. As usual, he takes no responsibility for any of this. If Daniela needed help getting out of the rehab center he was the one who gave it. This is on him now.

Despite their justified anger, Nina and Arturo will hurt when Ape Child falls.

Carlos, I think Assmore knew that Franco is trying to take Eladio down and he wanted a piece of that action because Eladio also kicked him out over what he did to Daniela.

Cynderella I love your word pictures. Thanks

"Miguel takes over and gives him the crazy eye"

"EJ is placed in an incubator where he happily plays with loose wires"

Art didn't directly cause Dani's death but his greed to do a deal with Ashmore, despite knowing he was shady, had unintended consequences.

Julia is socially inept because she's stupid. I mean bona fide duncecap wearing stupid.

Cynderella, you have me laughing out loud with this recap. Thank you so much!

I had trouble understanding some of the things said last night. And the CC's were no help- they were horrible.

Assmore does deserve to rot in prison. Though, him being gunned down by the cops might have been a good anvil too.

Wow, so Assmore swindled Erick, and then Assmore got swindled by Franco. Ha!

Scaredy-cat Marcos nearly wet himself when Eladio discovered something fishy with the finances. Too bad Franco came to the rescue and now Eladio has let his guard down. I'll hate it if Franco is able to get away with this.

I'll be tuning into Yago. It looks interesting judging from the promos.

Franco won't get away with it. He's riding high for the moment but his fall will be hard. He may not end up dead but his rap sheet dictates some severe consequences are in order.

Eladio is directly responsible for what Franco has become, so Franco's fall will be part of Eladio's punishment if Eladio doesn't die. And if he dies will Franco be the one to kill him?

Nina will probably slap the teeth out of Erick's gums when she finds out about the fake kidnapping.

I hope Arturo instructs Agustin to investigate how Erick gave Ashmore a large quantity of money. Where did he get this money from, because Arturo would know how much the shares are worth and he knows how much he pays Erick so how was Erick able to give Ashmore money?

At least Erick got 50 pesos from Eladio last time. His deal with Ashmore left him broke.

Justino will probably swing by the pawn shop and buy a necklace which was formerly Nina's. He'll give it to Clara, Clara will wear it when visiting Connie & the baby, Nina will show up and wonder why Clara has on her necklace. Clara will tell her Justino gave it to her, Justino will tell her he bought it from the pawn shop, Nina/Arturo/Regina will investigate who sold it to the pawn shop, which will lead to Pedro, which will lead to Erick. That's my theory, anyway.

Justino knows too many secrets about Franco, when will he finally spill them?

Arturo made a mistake by not booting Erick out of the company when he swindled them for Eladio. He would've fired him, but Nina convinced him not to. But this time Nina & Arturo are on the same page about Erick. Erick knows he can no longer hide behind Nina's caboose for protection from Arturo.

Assmore was dumb for leisurely packing instead of heading to the nearest airport and getting out of the country. Now that Ashmore has been thrown in jail for drugs/giving drugs to Daniela and left broke by Franco, he still remains very dangerous behind bars, because he now has nothing to lose. John Kerry will not be coming to Mexico to save Assmore.

That brings me to Franco. There's really nothing more Assmore can do to the Montenegros...he contributed to Daniela's death and exposed Erick as a lying traitor. The damage that Assmore can do now is against Franco/Eladio. Now that Franco won't/can't give Assmore his money back, Assmore might have some information that might be very valuable to Eladio. If Franco was as smart as he thinks he is, he would arrange to have Assmore bumped off in prison before he can speak with Eladio.

Julia remains silly and clueless. She should not have gone to the funeral, after Nina pitched a fit she should not have stayed at the funeral. We did not see Julia offering condolences to Daniela's siblings. She stayed glommed to Arturo the entire time. Everyone knows she thought Daniela was a basic crack ho & didn't want her around David, so why was Julia at Dani's funeral and why did she stay after being told by the girl's mother and her own son that her presence was not needed or wanted there?

Anon207,

"Nina will probably slap the teeth out of Erick's gums when she finds out about the fake kidnapping."

Oh, I hope so. He would certainly deserve it.

"At least Erick got 50 pesos from Eladio last time. His deal with Ashmore left him broke."

Hahaha! Good one. And so true. Erick is an idiot. And Assmore is too for that matter. Among the three of them, Franco is the ONLY one with the brains.

Anon207, we were never told the amount of the ransom demand for the baby. The full amount included the cash in the briefcase and Nina's jewelry. Erick insisted upon delivering it himself when Arturo first volunteered to.

I suspect that Erick hid most of the cash but gave some to Pedro along with the jewelry. If he thought it through far enough (which he isn't capable of) he might have thought that Pedro would get caught fencing the jewelry and that would be the end of that. Erick is a legend in his own mind and probably considered himself untouchable by the law because he is a Montenegro.

But he was idiot enough to not have used a burner cell phone (Do those exist in Mexico?) in his communications with Pedro. And when the news of all this finally hits the airwaves the nurse could identify Erick and tell the police that he used a fake name in his interactions with her.

I haven't mentioned this yet but that reporter was a vulture. Arturo and Miguel told him off but we probably haven't seen the last of him yet.

I hope we haven't see the last of that news reporter. He needs his own anvil too.

True. I wish I could remember his name.

207: One flaw. You bestow on the writers your smarts and creativity.

Urban, his name is Nemesio.

OMG Mauricio. You mean they took Nemesis and changed one whole letter to make a Spanish name? Too funny. I now can't help but try to find other similar names.

Miguel is proving himself to be the new head of the family. After supporting Nina in the board meeting, standing up to Arturo in the board meeting and tossing out the reporter, I think Nina will concede the heir to the head of the family role to Miguel over Erick, and Erick knows it.

We don't know how much Erick got for the kidnapping, but it's more than what Arturo was paying him and what his shares were worth, for him to be doing a deal with Assmore.

I'm wondering if Arturo, Agustin or Nina will remember MIGUEL suggesting Erick was behind the kidnapping, that the kidnapping seemed fake to him?

Nemesio already got his anvil. Farturo whacked his Ebay movie camera.

As far as Die Erik Die, his Dad should be able to look at both his and the Montenegro finances and see that DED has a lot more money than he should have. Even not knowing the $$ amounts with Ass Wipe, Art pays DED and is his only source of income.

In my next TN I want at least a few SMART people and much more skin.

Thank you very much Cynderella :)

Kirbo: Purple Lips was clutching Daniela's ashes very tight & wouldn't let go until Regina begged her to.

Did you noticed that she finally hugged Miguel at the funeral ?

Anon207: I agree with you on Miguel finally becoming a big man after being ignored over 20+ years. I also see Purple Lips, Miguel & Regina running Montenegro Corp., together in the end.

Mauricio: That news reporter was OUT OF LINE barging into Daniela's funeral & shoving that camera in Arturo's face.

Tofie: Julia had no business showing at up Daniela's funeral. It all became "Me, Me, Me" in Julia's world. Purple Lips should've slapped her 3 times.

Karen: The scene where Erick was holding Jr., over the balcony crossed the line for me & I'm glad that Regina & Purple Lips took Jr., away from him.

Tks Cyn, much more entertaining than the episode.

Best cellmate for Erick "El Chapo", Erick can start digging the tunnel.

Is Yago replacing PyP or Hotel?

Yago is replacing PyP on May 2 (next Monday).

3xAna is replacing Hotel later on in May.

Thank you, Cynderella, what a great way to review the episode!

I'm pretty sure it was Franco who sent the reporter to the service. He gave the creep the heads up about the continuing saga of the GomezLuna/Montenegro feud AND probably told him how to slant it - specifically to create an "emergency" both to distract Eladio and just because he's such a rotten jerk.

Well, we're back from our trip and I've finally caught up with the missed episodes.

As happens, some times when we've missed episodes, we watch the current one and then go back and watch the missed capitulos. It was unbearable to watch Dani and she was bounced around emotionally between David and Regina.....knowing that she would be dead in a day or two. I view Dani sympathetically, a genetically flawed, struggling young woman who, while making all sorts of mistakes, was loving and kindhearted like so many of my Methadone patients back in Cambridge, MA so many years ago. I always thought Mi Pecado was the hardest novela, I think this one has surpassed it. With the exception of Erick and Assmore, I don't have a lot of blame to pass around for Dani's death, the rest of the characters made many selfish, stupid yet human mistakes that added together, were far too much for a weak and vulnerable young woman to overcome......so sad. Having Assmore give her that cocaine was murder in my estimation.

I must have been drinking some potent PyP Kool aid, Marlene F was better in her role as Nina at the funeral than any other novela performance that I remember seeing. I don't want to ever watch those scenes again!

Cyn, pardon my manners, loved the recap and especially your description of Erick, Jr. in the incubator trying to strangle himself, so apt! Thanks so much....

Sandy, welcome back!

I agree and feel this is a three way race as to the most heartbreaking TN. Mi Pecado was certainly hard to watch as was (IMHO)En Nombre del Amor.

I totally agree that Erick and Ashmore were culpable in Dani's death and while the others made dreadful mistakes and missteps, they can't be totally blamed.

But I'm hedging my bets. I will have to see how this plays out before deciding which was the most difficult.

Diana

Thanks , Cynderella, for your take-no-prisoners view of all that angst . I can't even.......

I only surf in and out of the show. I did, unfortunately, see Err do his impression of Mufasa holding Simba up high. YIKES. Perhaps , the most fitting punishment might be solitary confinement..alone with his own loony self would probably drive him BSC in no time.

What sad , tiny lives these people lead. Queen Elizabeth just celebrated her 90th birthday, and the UK Times ran a big article on tips to live to 100. Here are 3 : 1) Climb stairs. 2) Drink wine. 3) Have sex. Some of our characters may not see a ripe old age.

Well, I am going to raise my Whiskey sour when we go out to dinner tonight in a farewell toast to all these crazy characters and to the PyP recappers for jobs welldone. Thanks to all.

Nemesio deserves worse although I don't know that it will happen. The vulgarity of what he does is beyond belief sometimes.

I'll have more to say about that in a couple of days.

Many thanks for this cyn-fully snarkilicious recap and for all the others you gave us during the course of this very enjoyable show! I can’t tell you how many times you made me laugh to tears with your recaps! I really look forward to Yago getting the Cynderella treatment.

Like many of my Patio Pals, I initially thought that Ashmore would exact his revenge on the Montenegros and the Gómez Lunas by screwing over the cocky “Juniors” from both families, but I think I like this twist better. Erick steals his parents, Ashmore steals Erick, Franco steals Ashmore... "Ladrón que roba a ladrón" (a thief that steals from a thief).

Favela and Salinas have stolen the show ever since Dani’s death. Masterful performances from both actors. I understand the need of Nina and Arturo to find a scapegoat but short of abducting Dani and locking her up against her will, I don’t think there is much they could’ve done to help her. The one thing they could be blamed for is not taking more stringent security measures to ensure that Ashmore can no longer gain access to Dani. This is the only thing I could think of that may have saved that young woman’s life.

Regina and David continue to leave me cold and, to answer your question from this weekend Kirbo, if I were Dani, this episode’s hug between the lovelorn idiots would not have taken place. The haunting will be so relentless that no physical closeness can ever happen between David and Regina, y mucho menos, bunnyhopping. Moreover, Dani should get together with Maribel and do some spiteful haunting for the irrelevant honeymooners who are eating up precious airtime this close to the finale.

As for Julia, she never ceases to amaze me. All I’ll say is that I’ve seen previous characters played by Colunga and Salinas do a lot less for female protagonists that were worth the trouble a whole lot more than Princess Confundida!

He tells Julia that it was best that drug-addicted Dani died now before things got more serious with David. And when Julia scolds him, he says: “OK, fine. I will continue that absurd tradition of speaking well of the dead. Since he/she died: 'Oh what a good person he/she was!'.”

Loving and kind hearted? Dani? I need to go look up the meaning of those words, Sandy. Or I must have been in the bathroom for those fifteen seconds Dani showed us this side of herself. All I saw was a lying scheming little crack head trying to destroy her sister at any cost who only thought about herself.

Ah Cynderella...thanks for giving us a break from all the sturm und drang by this sassy, irreverent recap. I always love your outrageous humor and this time it was a lifesaver.

Liked that you picked up the Mufasa quip from Nandicta's recap and used it in a new way, as well as your great description of a very happy little baby playing with wires in his incubator. Definitely a WTF scene.

My Columbian friend was in tears over these last episodes while saying to herself "pero estàn actuando! no debo llorar!" but llorar she did. Powerful and affecting acting.

I agree with Diana that the actor portraying Erick portrays stupid very well. Those half-lidded vacant eyes are perfect. Hope he doesn't always look that way, but wonderful in this role as the village idiot.

Whew..at last, Arturo seems to be over his mid-life crisis and remembering that he has a family that needs him, now more than ever.

Best moment last night for me was when Miguel asked if he could hug Nina. They have not been close, so he could not assume a hug was okay. Perfect that he asked. Perfect that she said "yes". Nice to see that relationship finally mending.

As for Humberto, well...let's see. Got to give him props for consistency. Todo de una pieza as they say.

As are you Cynderella. Consistently hilarious and always a pleasure to read. Don't ever change!

Wonderful recap Cyn! My cc's are always screwed up. So annoying!!

Nina had me crying again last night. Couldn't believe when Art told Julia she was his life. I rolled my eyes.

Best thing that could happen to Hummy is he has a stroke and is unable to speak. Losing his best gift and being stuck listening to Julia without being able to manipulate her would slowly drive him crazy.

Franco certainly is winning. I fear he won't get the anvils he deserves.

Agree actor playing Erick is doing a great job of being an imbecile. Reckless idiot.

Kirbo, you've made your point many times about Dani, "a crack ho who has seen more ceilings than Michelangelo" Agree to disagree.....I'll have my viewpoint, you are welcome to yours.

Judy, the awakening of Nina and Miguel's relationship might be the best of the novela! Don't think we're getting a good boda, we'll have to make do with a mother and son partnership.

Nandicta, we've all wondered why there was no increased security since the kidnapping. However, that wouldn't have been enough to keep Assmore away from Daniela, since he got to her in a public place with a little help from Ape Child.

When this series began I thought that he and Daniela were going to be accomplices all the way but he obviously cares only about himself.

Best thing that could happen to Hummy is he has a stroke and is unable to speak. Losing his best gift and being stuck listening to Julia without being able to manipulate her would slowly drive him crazy.

I like that.

Cynderella thank you so much! Laughter all the way through, what a gem of a recap! My favorite of course; Mufasa wasn't drunk when he held Simba over the cliff...duh! Priceless.

Nandicta, I'm so glad you pointed out Hummy's remarks regarding Dani. You gotta love Humberto, the man keeps it real. He made me chuckle with his “ Seguiré esa absurda costumbre de hablar bien de los muertos. Como ya se murió: '¡Ay, qué bueno era!'.” I literally howled. Kudos to the actor, he's really a scene stealer.

I give Art about five minutes of grief, before he's back sniffing behind Julia like the obsessed mutt that he is. I have no pity for this man. I found it completely disturbing the he was off chatting with Julia ( who had no business there and was out of line) when his place was with Nina and his family. Art should feel like an absolute pile of shiz. He is the one who brought Assmore into their lives, it was his greed and his cheating in business deals so he could one up Eladio, that set all of this in motion. Dani is responsible for getting involved with him, but it's all on Art. Greed and the need to win all the time. Well how's that working for you now Art? If only Ass had been waiting at the door with a gun and had opened fire. A shoot out with Art/Ass dead would have been great. DIE Art! #IStillHateHim

Erick is just a useless ass. He really should just pray for death. If he ends up in jail he's not going to make it. He'll be toast. He couldn't even do Mufasa justice! Ha ha!

Franco, what a slippery devil. I had to give him props for turning the table on Assmore. I just wonder if Assmore's Sil or daughter will see to his release. If not, Franco/Erick better hope they don't cross paths w/him in the slammer. Speaking of slammer, I wonder if Erick goes down, will Art for paying off the witness? Art isn't exactly squeaky clean.

I really like Miguel away from Consuelo. Her need to be consoled all the time grates my nerves. It's like she has no other purpose than to be consoled. I did love his handling of the reporter and his consoling of Nina. Lovely scene.

Ay Petra. My heart broke for her, I can imagine the way she feels about all of those children and she was the only other one besides Eladio who seemed to be able to connect with Daniela. I felt her grief.

Erick will go down for the kidnapping which was not connected to the death of MonZorrat (great nick). If not there is still enough time for him to do more evil, as there is enough time for Franco to do more.

Good point about Assmore's daughter and son-in-law. It would be lovely if they hear of his latest activities and tell the Mexican authorities "Good work; keep him."

I view Dani sympathetically, a genetically flawed, struggling young woman who, while making all sorts of mistakes.. the rest of the characters made many selfish, stupid yet human mistakes that added together, were far too much for a weak and vulnerable young woman to overcome......so sad. Having Assmore give her that cocaine was murder in my estimation.

Sandy, I agree with everything you said. I had a soft spot for Dani. She was young and for all of her worldliness, she was young and naive. I think she was emotionally stunted in many ways by the dysfunction in her home. She really didn't have the maturity or strength to deal with the things happening in her home. I felt so very much for her desire to be loved to be part of a happy couple. That's really all she wanted, someone to love and to be loved back. She'd never had that and David gave her a taste of it, even if he never could fully commit. It was a sad story. Irina Baeva did a wonderful job bringing this tragic girl to life and making me feel so much for her.

Thank you Cynderella---I was besides myself reading your recap. The show was so sad and yet you made me smile all the way through. I don't know how you do it, I never could.
Just two snarky lines amongst so many.---It's the fuzz. They want to use Art as a human shield when they go in to arrest Ashmore.

Ashmore hid the drugs in the night stand right next to the Gideon Bible.

I don't know what I was thinking??? When the show ended last Friday, the commercial said that there would be a three hour final for Thursday so my mind went into mind game mode and caused me to think that the show was over until Thursday. Maybe I had thought that because there were no previews for Monday just previews for the Final on Thursday. I'm glad that we had a show last night. And maybe Kirbo was right that they need more time to kill the baddies. Don't know how many will die but I will be transfixed in front of the screen.

Sandy in TN---You said Marlene F. was better in her role as Nina at the funeral than any other novela performance that I remember seeing. I don't ever want to watch those scenes again. --- I agree that those were the most powerful scenes in my memory as well. I wonder how an actor/actress prepares for such an emotional moment? I have said it before but this is a good time to repeat. I have often wondered what it would be like being married to an actress? They can portray emotions so perfectly that I have often asked myself how I could tell when their
emotions/feelings were actually real or just perfect acting? Perfection was certainly reached both on Friday and Monday night.

must see tv

gringo, I was so impressed that I looked to see if Marlene has children, in my source, it seems that she doesn't. She holds a baby like real mothers do as well. She is quite an actress.

If my sometimes cranky silver fox husband would "act" sweet when he's annoyed, I'd be happy for him to be an actor. Unfortunately, I just get the straight up real emotions!!!

Gringo, this question is possibly the reason that actors of both sexes were socially suspect for so many centuries. Other people were afraid of this ability on the assumption that it could be used for less than honorable motives. Combine that with the exhibitionism perceived in actors and there was the idea that they were not people of class.

Although they can portray them well.

As to how they prepare for moments of this kind, I recall that Jorge Salinas said in an interview that for his big crying scene in his previous novela he dug back to the saddest experience in his own life to get the tears. Marlene Favela probably did the same thing.

I was a theatre major but never could cry on cue. So... if I had been fluent in Spanish when I was 20 I might have become a big-time villana.

Psssstt..Gringo: A lot of girls are much better actresses than we think.
We men are not as bright as we would have them believe.

Cynderella, What a terrific recap... I laughed at loud over much of it... In particular, the part about Baby Erik was HILARIOUS. From Mustafa was never drunk when he held Simba to the loose wires in the incubator. LOL. I loved Franco's smirk and swagger as he left the jail.

Someone said before that the baby that plays Erik Jr is adorable. So true. What a darling little one.

Another look alike that someone may have already said. I think Susana Gonzales is a very lovely classy actress in this TN. She keeps making me think of Amal Clooney. Really lovely, the pair of them.

Anywho, thanks to each and every one of the recappers for outstanding work. Really. You all have an individual style that works and is a pleasure to read. I know how much work these recaps are, so both writing and styling is an art. Bien hecho and thank you so much!!

Mena

Delilah, I agree with everything you just said.

There is one point of agreement here, Dani needed to stay in a secure rehab facility. But she knew that the minute she committed herself, David and Regina would have been together. They had been simpering and whimpering all over themselves for days! She had a "Sophie's Choice" decision, become well and lose David or stay unstable and try and hold on to David. She chose the latter, and with Ashmore's help, she lost her life.

Jorge S has had a thankless role and consistently knocked it out of the park day after day...

Terrific recap, Cynderella. Thanks a bunch.

Very satisfying moment when Nina and Art both realize what scum Erick is.

It looks like Franco will emerge as the last villain standing. I do like that he's prone to scamming and taking advantage of his opportunities (Eladio's preoccupation with Julia, Dani's death, bad publicity for GL) instead of, say, sending a wheelchair careening down the stairway. But of course his winning streak is not going to hold. Surely Pedro is just waiting for the right time to return.

ITA on the comments about the actor playing Erick. Fine job of a mess of an entitled, selfish, idiot man.

Agree with everybody that it would’ve been more realistic for the police to catch Ashmore at the airport. I guess the show didn’t have the dinero for an airport shoot.

Delilah--your take on Art was unforgiving and rather spot on. I truly do not want a reconciliation between he and Nina. He needs to be kicked to the curb, I'm sorry. Does Nina have responsibility for the imbecile that is Erick, sure. And Dani was his little mini me that thought all the world revolved looking good and getting a man just like mommy said.

But I will give you kudos that what I do see in Nina as destroyed as she is, and leading up to the moment of Dani's death, was beginning to see her mistakes and having her eye open. Honestly, up until Art begrudgingly is walking away from Julia, if she had looked at him at the funeral and said, Hey, when this is over, let's run away together...well honestly, I think he would still have done it. He's been worthless in this and if it wasn't for his trusty side-kick The Grey Fox, I think the company and his whole family structure would have gone south long ago.

I also agree that I see Miguel stepping in to take over the business with Nina at his side. Who knows, what's left of what mess Franco makes will be taken over by David and the I still see a merging of the companies that were once rivals.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Auggie walk away and maybe do something entirely new and removed from this family with Gaby. Maybe Art and Eladio do blow each other up...frankly, at this point, not sure I care.

Daisynjay

Delilah: Miguel & Connie are going to be together & probably get married & maybe changing Jr's name!

We did get to see the aftermath of Clara & Justino's love-making session. I see pregnancy on the horizon!

ITA with all the kudos for Marlene Favela's portrayal of Nina. In addition to all said, she's the best slapper I've seen in a TN. You can feel her anger and contempt.

Humberto's Karma:

Penniless, living in the rescue mission of Las Vegas, close.........but oh so far.

Whoever is writing the dialogue for Humberto has a GREAT sense of humor, and the actor is delivering his lines masterfully!

Unless there is some kind of hard proof or if Agustin or Nina testify to it, I don't think Arturo will go down for paying off the witness because the witness is dead.

Daniela was not a good person, but she wasn't a bad person either. I think she just wanted to be loved but she went about it the wrong way, always competing with Regina. The only thing she could beat Regina in was being beautiful and desirable so that's what she did. She had no encouragement from Arturo whatsoever & the one thing she liked to do and wanted to do for his company, he refused to let her do it. If he let Erick stay at Grupo Montenegro AFTER he learned Erick was embezzling & cost GM $42M, then Arturo could've let Dani pose for some pictures for GM.

But that's the grief and guilt he'll have to live with for the rest of his life.

Cynderella, i was cracking up! I found myself laughing at him in an incubator playing with the cords. I said, they could of at least filmed him when he took a nap because why is in that thing?

But (not home so i couldnt rewind) the look on David's face when he was watching Nina come over to reproach his mother - before Nina even got in the frame was priceless!

When i wasnt crying i was laughing. Wth erick! I was freaking out.

Little EJ thinks: Wait, wait where are you all going?

OK, if I remember.. um ground is green
OK, power is red, Ok
Now Nurse Call is this grey wire. Hook it to....

One thing that I keep forgetting to write about. It happened here in So Cal a couple of days ago and it made the news. I heard about it during a news break on radio. A man was on had been using oxygen for breathing purposes when he decided that he wanted a cigarette. He took out the oxygen tube, laid it by his side and proceeded to light his cigarette. The end result was that he was treated for burns
(I don't remember how severe) but his house now has a $100,000 repair bill attached to it. How could I not think of Humberto?

the gringo

Sandy: I'm predicting Eladio will find out what Old Goat Humberto is doing & kicking him out of the GLA Mansion, having him sent to a nursing home.

Gracias, Cynderella. Uni's English captions have been a mess for at least the past week, so I definitely needed a recap for the little stuff.

Going off the previous comments, it sounds like Nemesio the reporter has popped up before in the show. I'm assuming his evil-nerd-looking self was just as upright and balanced then as he was in this episode?

Other than Arturo sortakinda being subtly positioned as a villain, or rather a sort of greater evil, to Eladio (who raped Julia at some point? QQW?!?) at the end of things, the thing that irritates me about this show is its apparent insistence on waiting until the last minute to wrap everything up. And the fact that this means we're stuck waiting on Karmageddon, copyright Urban Anthropologist, for at least two people who really deserve it does not help at all. Come on, can't we at least get more than a half-assed punch in the face for Ashmore before the final episode?

Anon207: The witness is dead ? How ?

Steve, when Eladio went looking for him Callao found out from the guy's wife that he took the money, left her and then died. I forget if it was a heart attack. I think Art is off the hook now, and thus Erick too.

Steve and Carvivlie - The Witness took the money, left his wife, and took up with a married woman. The married woman's husband killed The Witness.

And thank you Cynderella for a great and funny recap. I peek in every now and then and read the great recaps and wonderful comments.

I also like this TN despite the flaws and some really stooopid characters, e.g., Eric. I also agree that Marlene's acting in the last two episodes has been outstanding. My favorite moment(s) last night - Miguel throwing Nemesio out and then hugging Nina.

Cynderella - I forgot to mention how much I liked your title!

I really dislike Arturo, but my heart went out to him last night when he grabbed Agustín's shoulders choking back tears and pleaded desperately,"Tell me that I was a good father." Agustín instead said, "You need to worry about your other children, they also need you."

Carlos

Bill C., most Televisa novelas don't get wrapped up until the last two or three hours. When we have the wrap-up discussion I'll get more into that.

Eladio raped Julia and it was stated that this happened more than once. That has been the main thing that makes him a villain along with refusing to accept David as his son and refusing to take a DNA test... for 20 years. Arturo is not a villain but a very flawed protagonist. He is suffering now for past mistakes, as is Nina.

Nemesio has been in and out of the story always smelling blood and being willing to take money to print lies, rumors, and half-truths. I'm going to have plenty to say about that later.

Warning: I'm going to be a little late tonight because of a long phone call.

Carlos - I agree that was a pretty sad scene. I also felt bad (a little bit) for Art when he tried to comfort Nina with his hands over her hands at the casket. I thought she would melt when he touched her face but she came to her senses. He deserves her wrath.

UA - thanks for the warning but out here on the west coast you are never late!

Hey everyone, if you Dvr the show I just found out that mine isn't scheduled to record the finale. I checked and its bec twc shows Sueno as going three hrs on Thursday, from7pm to 10pm. I'm going to record that show and the one after just to make sure I don't miss anything.

Now that you've reminded me, UA, I do recall both Triunfo del Amor and La fuerza del destino waiting until pretty much that point for resolving the biggest/last of their loose ends as well. With this show it's further over on the LFDD side because it's so bleak and depressing (albeit somewhat understandably so, as with that show). The stuff about Eladio just reinforces my dislike for how Arturo is being positioned, but that loops back in my head to this: I don't think I've ever seen Fernando Colunga play a consistently bad guy, ever, and Eladio's therapy and seeming ability to sort of adult and so on just doesn't sit right with me while everybody else tends to stay in the same general zip code of "hot mess."

(And yes, Arturo's definitely not a villain...but he's stuck in Hot Mess 90210 along with everybody else, if indeed due to his flaws. Maybe it's more of a kneejerk response, but it just bugs the heck out of me.)

Eladio reminds me of Bad Boy Santino "Salsero" Roca of "Amores Verdaderos"!

Bill, I am wondering what this means for the future of Televisa novelas, but I don't have time to get into that right now. I will have a lot to say about the writing of this series after the finale recap is posted.

I still root for Julia and Eladio to end up together, they are my main couple and I maintain that it is Eladio that Julia loves. For all of his faults/sins (and there are many) she sees in him the man she wants and that he can be, IS becoming. it seems to me, she is seeing that Art seems stuck..somewhere that she is not. He is in place where he has not evolved past that man he once was many years ago, the one who got another pregnant, the man now who can so casually discard his loyal/faithful wife of twenty years. I think none of this sets well with Julia.

Nina has really evolved, I root for her like I do Eladio. They are not perfect and there are many sins/mistakes they've made against others, but where they've won me is that they don't appear to be to arrogant or big to face their flaws/failures. They see the results of their mistakes and seem to be owning them even making amends in their own way. I admire that in their characters..it's growth. I would lose so much respect for Nina if after being so casually tossed like a used rag, she took Art back. Art and Hummy don't appear to be all that different from my perspective. Neither respect their wives, they don't respect their daughters and will step on them to get what they want. I don't think Art really respect Julia. If he did, he would have kept away from her when she asked him to and he wouldn't have conspired with Hummy like she was a piece of property to buy. Perhaps in these next few eps Art can win me over, but I don't think so, its late in the game.

I apologize if this has already been mentioned; according to my cable guide there is a little extra PyP on Friday. "Especial All Access" Una mirada a la telenovela. Wow, an extra treat!

Cinderella, thank you for this really good recap and thank you, you hit all the points you didn't miss too much of anything this is going to be a quick comment because it's about to come on again.

There's enough blame to go around for both parents, they were not very good parents he was too busy making money and she was too busy thinking about number one and how the kids can make her look good in the public. So you know everybody's got their own fault in this. Every look on the arttyy's face was saying that "I wasted so much time chasing somebody else's wife neglecting my own wife and my children and this is what it's come to, and it wasn't worth it". I feel sorry for him he's learned a very hard lesson, he and moma nina. Maybe the time lapse will bring healing.

Erick snd Franco are two piles of shit. They should be covered up. Permanatly.

Juls and eladio.... well......let the chips fall where they may. Whatever.

Jorge........meh.
Caridad.........huuuuuuuuh, whatever.
Caby, grow a pair and kick franco to the curve.
Come on thursday.
