Pasión y Poder Capitulo #126 Friday, April 15th 2016 Three couples mate, two people get slapped, and no one gets an anvil yet. What gives?

(scenes have been combined for better flow)

Daddy Issues - Everyone has them in this novela

Julia meets with her shrink, who I call Dr. Phil, for some late night therapy. Julia admits that she needs more determination with her father. She still has trouble telling [the rat bastard- my words, not hers] "no". Dr. Phil listens, then asks, if the rat bastard [again, my words, not his] is still imposing himself. Julia replies- that her father has changed for the better, but that she feels like he's still capable of manipulating her in someway. With a stern look and voice, Dr. Phil, tells Julia to not allow her father to have that power over her. Parents should give their kids the roots so they grown with strength and values [values- hmm, that's something that no one seems to have in this show] and guide them so they can fly on their own, and not pull the strings of their lives. Julia agrees with this assessment, but admits that her father still wants to decide what's best for her. And right now, her father thinks that Arturo, is what is the best for her. Dr. Phil points out that her father thought that Eladio was what was best for her 20 years ago. So what matters now is what she thinks, he tells her. Julia says that her father thinks that her Mr. Right is someone who can give her the life of a queen. Dr. Phil points out that she had that life with Eladio, but she gave up the comfort that he gave her, so now they'll have to see what happens with Arturo.

Later, Julia is still get psychoanalyzed by her shrink, and this time, she tells Dr. Phil that the relationship she had with her dad influenced how she got along with the boys. She admits that she has always looked for her father's approval and love. However, she was never able to get it. However, her father has now changed, he's gotten closer to her, and she has no doubts that he does it out of affection. Dr. Phil asks her .. "and how does that make you feel?" Julia replies that it makes her feel good. How can she reject something that she has always wanted. Dr. Phil smells a rat bastard, so he tells Julia to analyze where her father's change is coming from. Julia looks puzzled [and seriously, when doesn't she look puzzled?]. The shrink also wants for her to realize that her value is not in how others value herself, but how she loves herself. Julia admits that it's hard for her to see things in that manner, because she has always looked for the approval of others. The shrink tells her that until she finds that love for herself, she'll never be able to find happiness, with Arturo, Eladio, or anyone else for that matter. Julia listens carefully and takes all that in.

Monterrey- Get the brain bleach ready

Over in Monterrey, Regina and Jorge "mate" and our worse fears become a reality. Jorge is totally into this mating thing. And Regina? Well, let's just say that she's corresponding to Turtle Boy, but her face says she'd rather be getting a root canal at the dentist.

To traumatize the Mexican viewers even more, we are taken inside David's hotel room, where he and Daniela are sinning and having dirty sex. Fortunately, Univisión left this scene out, and for this I am grateful, because my Patio friends won't need an extra bottle of Brian Bleach from WalMart. The two are totally into the mating. David is sweating. [Gross. Yuck. Is this Guero Castro's idea of "passion"?] David is A PIG. [No offense to pigs out there!]

Cell Phones- They are there so you can answer them

Over at Grupo Montenegro, Mr. Right [Arturo] STILL hasn't listened to any of Nina's voicemails, and is doing overtime with Agustín at the office. Arturo receives a notification on his cell phone of a voicemail from Nina. He refuses to listen, because he thinks Nina wants to rub in his face, that Miguel backed her up, instead of him. Agustín, the voice of reason in this tale of the shameless and stupid, urges him to listen to the voicemail. Arturo finally does, and gets concerned, when he finds out that Daniela has escaped from rehab.

Arturo tells Agustín that his daughter escaped from rehab. Agustín shows concern, he puts his arms on his face, for dramatic effect. [Who directs this drivel?] Agustín watches pissy faced as Arturo tries to reach Nina and Regina on the phone to no avail. Then Agustín lets his pal have it. He tells Arturo off, telling him, that this is what happens when he (Arturo) is so focused on other things, instead of focusing on what matters- his family. Arturo, the jerk, tells his friend to calm down, don't exaggerate. Agustín states that he's not exaggerating, and that Arturo knows it. Arturo calls Casa Montenegro, and gets pissy-faced, when he finds out that Nina is out at dinner, while his daughter is missing.

Dinner Dates- When your ex interrupts and makes a scene

At a fancy restaurant, Eladio and Nina, wine and dine. Nina is calmer now, knowing that her daughter is in Monterrey with David. Eladio congratulates Nina on her victory at the board meeting, she beat out Arturo, ay caray. Nina's phone rings, and she refuses to answer, when she sees that it's Arturo. If Arturo wasn't interested in his daughter when she left him a gazillon of messages on his cell phone, then he'll have to face the consequences.

Later, while Nina and Eladio continue to wine and dine, Arturo shows up and makes a scene in public again. [How did he know where she was?] Arturo is pissy faced, and can't believe that Nina has the nerve to accuse him of being a bad father, when she is out wining and dining, when her daughter is missing. Eladio, ever the gentlemen, and suffering from a lapse of memory, of when he used to yell at Julia, tells Arturo that you shouldn't be talking to a lady in that tone. Arturo tells Eladio to butt out. Nina tells Arturo that she doesn't have to give him explanations, and that it hurts her, that he's using their kids as an excuse to bother her. Arturo, says that he now understands, if Eladio is supporting Nina, it's so he can have problems with her and his kids. Eladio reminds Arturo that what's important here is that he finds out where Daniela is, and not that they argue.

Later on, Nina accuses Arturo of behaving like someone without an education, forgetting that she too has been guilty of the same "crime". Arturo, the jerk, gets sarcastic, and reminds Nina that when she met him, she thought of him as Mr. Perfect. She replies that at the time, she thought that he was. Arturo gets more hurtful and accuses her of having taken advantage of him being a widower, with a child in hand,  so she could catch (pescar) a husband. [Obviously, he doesn't know that for a fish to be fished, they have to bite the bait, and he bit the bait, so even if that were true, then he let himself be caught.] It was like winning the lottery for her, he tells her. Nina, is in tears, by now. Eladio tells Arturo to watch his words, because he's talking to the mother of his children. Arturo then accuses Nina and Eladio of being together so they can bug him. Nina has had it, and finally gives Arturo the well deserved slap that he has been asking for. She tells him that if she's with Eladio, it's because he (Eladio) can find Daniela. [Ouch. That hurts more than the slap. But it's true.]

Still at the restaurant, and still behaving like a major jerk, Arturo blames Eladio for Daniela getting hooked on drugs. Eladio reminds Arturo that the decision to get high is a personal one, and besides, if anyone is to blame, it's surely not himself, after all Arturo is THE father. Arturo, rightfully, then tells Eladio to not come and tell him how to be a good father, when he (Eladio), snubbed David for years, and treats Franco like a lapdog. Eladio finally tells Arturo that Daniela is in Monterrey with David. Arturo wants to head on over there. But Nina asks him not to, at least not with that pissy attitude, because he'll make things worse. She tells Arturo that they need to support Daniela and be patient with her despite her flaws. If he continues with that pissy attitude, then Daniela could fall into drugs again. Arturo doesn't agree with her view of things. What do you know what my daughter needs? he asks her. [And what do you know, Arturo?] Eladio tells Arturo that Nina is right. Arturo tells Eladio to butt out. Arturo seems determined to go and get Daniela, and lock her up if he has to, far away from Eladio and David. Arturo then leaves. Nina, in tears, says that as each day passes, she can hardly recognize Arturo even more.

Ultimatums- They can sometimes get you whacked

Over at Marinita's place, Franco has come to visit Mateo. Marintia is in the room too. Franco tells his partner [his son] that he's about to obtain what he has fought so much for. He promises little Mateo that he'll give him the GL name once he gets his papers. Marintia can hardly contain her glee, she's all smiles, and says that, it's important they do that. Franco never imagined he could care for a son so much. Marintia, then takes the opportunity, to tell Franco that the time has come for him to divorce Gaby. Franco, gets pissy faced, and tells Marintia, not to start with that again. Marintia then lays the cards on the table, and gives Franco a ultimatum, either he divorces Gaby, or he can forget all about his offspring.

Franco responds to the ultimatum by aggressively grabbing Marintia by the face and pinning her against the dresser drawer in the room. He threatens her that if she attempts to separate him from his son, then she'll get to know the real him. [In other words, she'll get whacked] Marintia is able to shove him off, and tells him, that there is no point for him to be with Gaby. She can't even give her a child. [Should we start a Die Marintia Die table?] Franco says that he's not with Marintia to knock her up, he's with her, because it's convenient for him. Marintia doesn't understand what more he wants- he already took the shoe factory for her, and he's about to get the GL name. Franco knows what he means. He then tells her to think about what is convenient for her. If she's with him, she wins, but if she's against him, then she'll suffer the consequences. He grabs her by the chin, then shoves her cheek away from him, as he asks her if she understands. He's about to leave, but she stops him, and apologizes. She kisses him and tells him that she'd never betray him. The face grab, chin grab, and cheek shove, have gotten Marintia in the mood, because she now removes his jacket, and tries to interest him in a booty call. She kisses him, and the two fall onto the bed, with poor little Mateo having to witness such atrocity. [This recapper braces himself, ready to use that extra bottle of brain bleach he got at WalMart, but thankfully, we are spared having to witness these two mating in front of their child.]

Later on, Franco is all dressed [thank goodness] and is fixing his tie. Marintia wants to interest him in staying a little longer, but he tells her, that he has to head on home. He has a date with Gaby, and if he doesn't arrive home, then he'll be in the doghouse. Marintia points out that this is what she means when she told him to divorce that fool. That way, he wouldn't have to fake around her. He tells her that she has to understand that power requires sacrifices. He kisses his son farewell, and heads out the door.

Spouses- sometimes you don't know who you married

Still at the restaurant, Eladio admits that in a way, he understands Arturo's behavior. Arturo is worried about his daughter. Nina tells Eladio that Arturo has become hurtful ever since Julia appeared in their lives. Eladio, Julia's biggest defender, tells Nina, that he knows Arturo from a long time ago, and when Arturo loses control, he does things without thinking. Eladio explains that when he used to work for the Montenegro's, there came a time, where Daddy Montenegro came to have more confidence in him, the two got along so well, and even laughed together, and Arturo lost control. First, Arturo stopped being his friend, and then Arturo accused him of embezzlement and that's when he got fired. Nina says that it's terrible to realize that the man you love is so different than how you imagined him. Eladio knows how much Nina loves Arturo. Nina is afraid of is that Arturo is doing everything to get her hate. She asks him, if Julia disappointed him, in the same way. Eladio says she didn't. Nothing could ever kill the love he feels for Julia. Nina wishes that Arturo would have loved her in the same way, but for Arturo, Julia always existed.

Fools- once a fool, always a fool, so don't even bother with them

Gaby invites Julia to a celebratory dinner she's hosting for Franco, to celebrate that he has finally gotten the GL name. Julia doesn't want Gaby to take it the wrong way, but she prefers not to attend, because she doesn't ever want to mingle with Caridad, and doesn't want to see Eladio's face. Gaby asks her aunt if she's still mad at Eladio.

Gaby apologizes to Julia for bringing up the celebration, but she doesn't like hiding things from her. She already did that once and, umm.. Julia wonders what Gaby kept quiet about. Gaby flashes back to Eladio telling her that if she tells Julia the truth, then she'll destroy her happiness. Gaby changes the subject, and tells Julia that she loves her, but points out that Caridad is Franco's mother. Gaby understands- Caridad is Franco's mom. Gaby wants it to be clear to Julia that she loves her very much and that she'd never want to hurt her. Julia knows. Julia also knows Gaby would never lie to her. Uh, yeah, I wouldn't.. says Gaby.

Gaby tells Julia how exhausting the studies and treatments have been to get knocked up, but she really wants to be able to bear Franco a child. Julia asks if Franco has been supporting her through all of this. Gaby admits that Franco doesn't quite like accompanying her to see the gynecologist. Julia asks Gaby if Franco has been well behaved with her. Gaby asks her aunt what she means. Julia explains that Arturo alluded that Franco shouldn't be trusted. Gaby starts get pissy faced, and wonders if Arturo gave a reason. Julia replies that he didn't but that she prefers to tell her. Gaby gets pissed, tells Julia that Arturo told her that only to get on good terms with her, because Arturo knows that Franco is the reason Julia was humiliated. Then the fool (Gaby) accuses Julia of never trusting Franco and always seeing him a bad light. Julia asks her to be careful with him. Gaby pissy faced, says that she will, in a "fine, whatever, I'll do it" tone. Gaby leaves.

Sons- Sometimes they are just idiots

Arturo is seen outside Casa Montenegro, leaving a message on Daniela's phone. He tells his daughter that he decided against going after her in Monterrey to give her, her space. He asks her to call him, and tells her that he's glad that she's fine, he also reminds her that he loves her. He hangs up. He wants to go inside the mansion, but Obdulio tells him that, he's not authorized to let him in, per Nina's orders. Petra comes out, tells Obdulio to let Arturo come inside. Obdulio goes back inside. Arturo asks Petra to keep him informed if anything like this happens again. He doesn't want to have problems with Nina. Petra promises that she will. At that moment, Erick approaches his dad. Petra heads back inside. Arturo, then has the nerve, to scold Erick for not having a clue that Daniela escaped from rehab, forgetting that he (Arturo) too, only just found out about an hour ago.

Erick says that the battery on his phone died, and he didn't think, that Daniela would take it seriously about him helping her get out of rehab. Arturo is pissed to find out that Erick went and told Daniela all that nonsense. Erick claims that he didn't mean that she escape. Arturo tries to make Erick see the risk Daniela runs being out of rehab.

Flaunting- Sometimes you have it, but can't flaunt it

Over at Gaby's house, Gaby and Caridad, the two major fools of this tale, are setting the table for Franco's celebratory dinner. Gaby is pissy faced because she got upset with Julia again and because Franco still hasn't come home yet. At that moment, Franco enters, and tells Gaby that he's late, because he was, umm, "working". Gaby wonders if he really was working. [Wait a minute, could she be opening her eyes?] But Franco is saved by the bell, when Eladio arrives. Franco is all smiles about getting the GL name, and he mentions flaunting it to the whole world, but Eladio shuts down that dream. He tells Franco that him getting the GL name can't leave the four walls of his home. Oh, Franco, is not amused with that. He gets pissy faced, and knows it's because of Mrs. Julia. Eladio tells Franco that he should have at least that consideration for the woman who raised. Franco says that if Julia raised him it was because he (Eladio) didn't correspond his mom. This gets Franco a slap right across the face from Eladio. Franco, pissy faced, retreats to his room, like a teenage boy who has just been told, he can't miss curfew. Caridad looks at Eladio, and Eladio tells the insufferable woman to and talk to her boy.

Inside, his room, Caridad tells Franco that she doesn't like the resentment that he has for his father. Franco, is pissed, because for Eladio, Julia and David always comes first. It's impossible not to hate those two. Caridad asks Franco not to say that. Franco tells his mom that she should have backed him up, because Eladio never gave her, her place.

Therapy- Shrinks don't always diss the mothers, fathers get dissed too

Over at Casa Gomez-Luna, Hummy enters the living room, where Julia is at. Julia tells Hummy that Gaby invited her over to her house for a celebratory dinner for Franco, but she didn't want to go, because she didn't want to see Caridad and Eladio. Hummy likes what he hears- the farther way she is from Eladio, the better. He then takes the opportunity to tell her that she shouldn't even have those GL shares, because Eladio will use them as an excuse to invite her to board meetings, so he can see her. Julia mentions that Arturo told her that Eladio wants to win her back so he can prove to Arturo that he always wins. Hummy says- that he's not surprised, Eladio has also been a macho jerk. Julia then points out that Hummy has been a macho jerk as well. [You tell him, Julia!]

Hummy can't seem to believe what he's hearing. He asks her if that's why she goes to therapy, so she can be brain washed. Julia thinks he should be grateful that she's seeing a professional and that she's learning to value herself. Then she tells him that she wants to stop looking for his approval and to do things so he can value and love her. He reminds her that he's her father and that he's looking for her own good. So she has to obey him and look to please him. Julia points out that he's a human being too and can make mistakes. She tells her dad that she has to make her own decisions. Then she goes off on him, and points out, that she's not to blame for being born a girl. And it wasn't her mother's fault that she had two daughters. He's too blame for that too, because there are many factors that determine the sex of a baby, including stress and a pregnant woman's diet. And let's face- Hummy had her mother stressed during her pregnancy. Hummy is left speechless, for once.

Rivals- They lie to make their rivals look bad

Gaby promises to talk to Franco about his latest tantrum. She's sure he'll get over it. Eladio tells Gaby that he gave Franco the GL name with pleasure, but he wants for him to be considerate with Julia, he doesn't want her harmed in any way. Gaby is sure he'll understand. Changing the subject, Gaby lets Eladio know that she invited Julia over to the celebration, but she didn't want to attend, because she didn't want to mingle with Caridad and him. Gaby tells Eladio that Julia is pissed off at him. She explains that Arturo told her that he wants to win her back to prove that he beat him again by getting her back. Eladio is appalled, he makes it clear to Gaby, that he never uttered such nonsense.

Mating- The morning after, sometimes it isn't a pretty picture

It's the next morning, and we are subjected to another scene with Jorge and Regina, naked, and in bed. They both wake up, and Jorge tells Regina, that she made him a happy Turtle last night. Regina wants to get out bed ASAP, saying that they are probably going to be late for their plane, but Turtle Boy holds her back, telling her they have time. He kisses her.

Meanwhile, hairy David and Daniela, are naked in bed together in his hotel room. David is preoccupied with her having escaped from the rehab clinic. He tells her that it's not a game. She tries to calm him down, telling him that she doesn't even feel the need to grab the bottle or fly high. David wants her to return to the clinic when they return home. But she doesn't want to. She hates being locked up. She says she'll continue going to therapy, but doesn't want to return to the clinic. She asks him not to be mad at her.

Filler- All novelas have them, but it's annoying to have to put up with them

First filler scene:

Petra was still mad at Obdulio for him catering Clara's wedding. FF -->

Second filler scene:

Clara tries on her wedding dress. FF -->

Third filler scene:

Regina and Jorge, fully clothed, thank goodness, say their goodbyes to Yemile. FF -->

Fourth filler scene:

Later, Daniela and David say their goodbyes to Yemile, and gross her out in the process, by letting her know that David is dating the sister, of her ex- Regina. [I'd think twice before hiring this shameless and disgusting person (David) if I were Yemile]. FF --> Oh, okay, there was some dissing of Regina by Daniela here, and David defended Regina. Nothing new. Next.

[So yeah, we wasted fourth scenes, when we could be wrapping things up. #Fail]

Peer Mediation- It's there so people don't get into a tussle

Agustín has been give the task as being the mediator between Nina and Miguel so the two can get along while working on Nina's proposal. Miguel says that he and Nina agreed that their relationship would be strictly business. Nina hopes that Agustín is just there as a mediator, and not as Arturo's spy. Agustín tells Nina, that just because he's Arturo's bro, doesn't mean that he backs him up unconditionally, especially when his bro is wrong. He also points out that he told Arturo that had he been in the board meeting he would have also have backed up her proposal. Nina looks at him with some respect. Later, Agustín leaves, after they have all agreed on what everyone's role will be in this new project.

Talking- It can help, but not when your husband is a lying bastard

At Gaby's place, Franco STILL can't get over that he has to remain a hidden son. Gaby is sure that it'll be temporary and asks him to have patience. Franco knows that Eladio is doing all this because of Julia. He can see that Julia will always comes first. Gaby says that if she had been Eladio's place she would have asked him for the same thing out of consideration for her aunt. He takes this to me that she cares about Julia more than she cares about him. She explains that both Julia and Franco are important to her. Julia is like her second mother. She asks him to promise her that there won't be more problems. He promises, but stresses, that he's doing it only for her, so she can be fine. She thanks him for being so considerate. They kiss.

Businessmen- Some act like a bunch of jocks fighting over the head cheerleader

Eladio, with those cool shades, enters Arturo's office over at GM. He confronts Art, the lying bastard, for the lies he told Julia about him. Arturo denies it. Eladio asks Arturo if he wants to distance Julia from him. Eladio points out that he knows Arturo very well, and knows what a conniving bastard he is [okay, those were my words, he said that "he knows how Arturo plans things]. Arturo tells Eladio that if he (Eladio) knows him so well, then he knows, that's it's only a matter of time before he and Julia tie the knot.

Later, Eladio thanks Arturo, because he has realized that Julia is not interested in Arturo, because if she were, then Arturo wouldn't have to badmouth him (Eladio) to Julia. Eladio has also realized that what Arturo feels for Julia is not love, but an obsession. Arturo denies it and reminds Eladio that he was the one who kept Julia in a golden cage. He asks Eladio if he loves Julia and he replies that he does. Then he warns Arturo that if he hurts Julia then it'll be the last thing that he ever does. Arturo asks Eladio if would move to the side, if Julia's new BF, were not him. Eladio tells Arturo to make himself out to be so important. Eladio would fight anyone for Julia's love. Arturo tells him too bad, that's what he should have thought about before, so now he'll have to conform with Nina.

At that moment, Agustín [the office peer mediator] arrives, before things can get more heated between these two businessmen that act like teenage boys. Agustín intervenes and points out that they are both fighting over Julia, when she hasn't even decided on which of the two of them she wants to be with.

Stepmothers- Some may be wicked, but are nice on the inside

Nina has found new respect for Miguel when she saw how he defended his POV at the board meeting. Miguel has also found respect for Nina now that he sees her as a businesswomen. He asks about Daniela, and laments what's happening to her, and offer his sincere help, if they need it. Nina thanks him. Miguel wishes that they would have gotten along better, they are his only family, but she always rejected him. He understands that she feared that his dad would prefer him, but as she saw, his dad never cared about him. Nina now understands how much Miguel must have suffered being snubbed by Arturo. Miguel then tells her, that despite everything, he doesn't think she's a bad person, and that he would have loved for her to have treated him like a son. He leaves. Nina is in tears.

Mauricio great job. Thanks

"Julia looks puzzled [and seriously, when doesn't she look puzzled?]"

Incapable of original thought, Julia is a cult leaders dream.

Mighty big of him and believe he was sincere. Pre divorce Nina would have dismissed what Miguel said or he would never have said it but said to kinder, gentler Nina, truth hurts. As mentioned yesterday I hope older bro jumps in to help Dani.

I hope Eladio will get a coverup tattoo to display NINA.

David and Dani make the cuter couple.

Jorge is ok in a corn flake kind of way but I wouldn't, not even out of sympathy. I think Regina knows what I'm talking about now, frosted flakes are way better.

Muchas gracias for another gem of a recap, Mauricio! I liked how you combined scenes by theme and I share your frustration for dedicating so much precious airtime to filler and repetitions dialogue when there are so many loose ends to tie.

This episode was brought to you by Fiesta Americana and the Clorox equivalent for brain and eye bleach. Were the juxtaposed scenes of Regina and David boiking their respective partners while sporting a constipated look and thinking of each other supposed to be romantic? Excuse me while I go look for a large barf bag.

Seeing Princess Confundida confront her father was a great moment but she lingered too much on the issue of his failing to have male progeny. How is shifting the blame for the conception of girls to her dad a victory? Why should anybody be "blamed" for having girls? What's the big deal with having male children anyway? The PyP world is rife with colossal jerks who almost all happen to be male. Still, Julia continues to make one step forward and twenty steps back. She is still falling for her dad's manipulation and for Arturo's lies, hook, line and sinker.

Arturo just killed me when he ordered Eladio to stay away from Julia and "make do with Nina." ("Confórmate con Nina") Wow! What a gentleman! This is how you talk about the mother of your children and wife of 25 years? Every time I think ArTonto can't stoop any lower, he proves me wrong and sinks to a despicable new low.

Nina's anvils are lining up nicely and one of the biggest ones is to see that the son she doted on all his life treats her like a dirt and the stepson she neglected and mistreated for years is the one who now has her back. Those tears are tears of shame and regret. I still have a soft spot for this character and feel that she has suffered more than the actual protagonista.

-- A quote from the capitulo --

"(...) gracias porque me acabo de dar cuenta de que dudo mucho de que Julia se quiera casar contigo porque me sigue amando. Sí, claro. ¿Sabes cómo me di cuenta? Si te amara a ti, no tuvieras que estar intrigando en mi contra. Así que, de verdad, gracias. Gracias por ayudarme a comprobar lo mucho que aún le importo." *

* King Eladio schools the horny schoolboy, vieja chismosa, formerly known as Arturo Montenegro: "(...) thank you because I just realized that I doubt very much that Julia would want to marry you because she is still in love with me. Yes, indeed. Do you know how I became aware of this? If she were in love with you, you wouldn't feel the need to be scheming against me. So, really, thank you. Thank you for helping me confirm how much I still matter to her." #Boom #EpicComeback #MicDrop

darse cuenta = to realize, to become aware.

intrigar = to plot, to scheme.

comprobar = to confirm, to verify.

Nandicta you are awesome.

You say what I would like to say, but can't bring myself to be nice about it.
What a girl!

Gracias, Mauricio, and we were all prepared with the brain bleach. Especially thanks over the scene with Franco and Caridud, which I had an audio problem with.

One of the many remaining secrets was almost exposed in this episode and I hope this means that those will start getting dragged out of the closet. I think there will be a blowup between Julia and Gabriela when Julia realizes that Wednesday Addams knew for months about Francostein's DNA.

One of my questions was answered in this episode and that was what Marintia meant to Franco, which is ZERO. Their relationship is "convenient", so what happens if that stops? He may kill her if she doesn't realize her very stupid mistake and run for her life.

To answer someone else's question, the scenes of Jorge/Regina and David/Daniela were juxtaposed to show that Regina and David were so not into their current partners.

As to Eladio not wanting to give a press conference about Franco, that is highly understandable. The world already knows, so why? Although he didn't say so I also think that he's concerned about the press getting too close to not find out about Marintia and Mateo, which will hurt Gabriela and the dirt will come back on himself for keeping that from Julia and Gabriela.

Julia and her shrink discussing Humberto could be the harbinger of his anvil.

Mauricio, another fantastic recap - thank you.

"Fortunately, Univisión left this scene out, and for this I am grateful, because my Patio friends won't need an extra bottle of Brian Bleach Talking" and "It can help, but not when your husband is a lying bastard" were among my favorites.

Most touching and poignant moment for me was "Miguel then tells her, that despite everything, he doesn't think she's a bad person, and that he would have loved for her to have treated him like a son. He leaves. Nina is in tears". Miguel has always been one of my favorites and this is why. Scorned and shunted aside, he remained kind and never bitter. He was not angry at Nina for her cruel and abusive behavior, simply sad and regretful that she never loved him. Perhaps now she finally realizes she might have had a loving relationship with her stepson. "Miguel wishes that they would have gotten along better, they are his only family, but she always rejected him". No rancor, but simple regret. As you noted tofie, "to kinder, gentler Nina, truth hurts". Indeed, what a tragic loss.

Mauricio, I appreciate it that in the midst of Arturo's shameful actions and behavior you remind us of the past: "Eladio, ever the gentlemen, and suffering from a lapse of memory, of when he used to yell at Julia..." It wasn't long ago roles were reversed. Still, Arturo has always been selfish and aloof. Nandicta, I agree his remarks about Nina were despicable. The contrast as to how he and Eladio speak of and feel about their ex wives is evident and very telling.

Eladio and Arturo can throw stones at each other all day long. The truth is both are obsessed with Julia.

"The face grab, chin grab, and cheek shove, have gotten Marintia in the mood". Words fail me.

I'm a staunch Julia supporter but she made a grave error by refusing to go to Franco's coronation. It's not always about her and this is one of those times. Put your pride aside. That way, you will be there to comfort and catch Gaby when she falls.

I am glad that Julia is realizing Humberto still has power over her and that she still seeks his approval even though she no longer needs it.

So Franco's true namesake is to be kept private? If we knew that, I wasn't aware. Franco was livid wasn't he? (smirk).

Thank you for giving us much to consider and ponder Mauricio!

Diana

UA, I hadn't seen your post when I commented.

"though he didn't say so I also think that he's concerned about the press getting too close to not find out about Marintia and Mateo, which will hurt Gabriela and the dirt will come back on himself for keeping that from Julia and Gabriela".

Thank you - I hadn't considered that motivation at all and what you noted makes perfect sense.

Diana

Thank you everyone. Overall, I thought this was a nice episode. Minus, the filler and mating scenes.

Great scene with Miguel and Nina at the end. It was very touching, I thought.

Hope we start getting some anvils next week.

Fab recap Mauricio!!!

So many anvils so little time! I'm seriously worried some won't get their proper due.

Could care less abt our young four of D, D, J and R.

Another low for Art. Nina really learning and growing thru her suffering. Julia only learning by listening to her shrink but then she believes everything anyone says so glad he is on her side. Eladio disappointed me with Franco. I understand that everyone already knows Franco is his son and no need for a press conference but also no reason to hide the fact and insist on it being kept a family secret. I felt bad for Franco for a nanosecond. I can understand why it means so much to him to have his father's name and be officially recognized.

Mari is just as greedy as Franco. I was disgusted when she seduced him after he threatened her physically and verbally.

The way this is going I'm starting to think Julia will end up happy and alone .

Eladio doesn't know that Franco gave the baby his name so I don't think that was a consideration in his mind. I think he still thinking of Julia and at this point she agrees Franco should be a GL. If he was thinking of Mari and Mateo he could have told Franco that, out of earshot of Gaby. I would be more worried about Caridad spilling that secret or Mari stepping up now to claim her prize.

Mauricio---A super great job and a BIG thank you. Your root canal line was just perfect.

I couldn't help but wonder why the restaurant manager didn't ask for the argument to be settled outside. This was a nice place with other diners paying $$$$ for a nice meal. You shouldn't have to listen to someone's argument at the next table.

Franco was getting rough with Marintia. Franco's or was it Eladio's mean side really came out. Franco, you're going down. Anvils are getting closer.

Nina hardly recognizes Arturo anymore. Yes, he's going off the deep end--maybe of no return.

Mauricio,

Thanks for another excellent recap. This is brilliant:

"The face grab, chin grab, and cheek shove, have gotten Marintia in the mood..."

..."Daniela and David say their goodbyes to Yemile, and gross her out in the process..."

I'm glad that you noted Yemilé's badly concealed distaste. Imagine if she knew that Dani's and Regina's dad was stalking and trying to woo David's mom and that their brother was doing the same with their other brother's wife... hillbilly heaven.

That final scene between Nina and Miguel was heart-rending and beautifully acted. So does this soften any of you who despise Nina? I know that I'm feeling a lot more kindly toward Miguel.

Marentia won a few points with me right after Franco departed. Cradling Mateo in her arms she addressed him ruefully, "It's not always going to be like this my little one, I promise you that."

Carlos

Thank you, Mauricio, for a great recap of all the miserable misery. I hope that you had a nice cocktail after you finished.

Nandicta...You are so funny. I enjoyed your insightful comments not to mention your perfect hastags..boom..epiccomeback ...micdrop

The two couplings were awkward. Who knew bunnyhopping could be this joyless. Was this Jorge's first time? If so, sorry, Jorge. Hopefully you will find someone who is a little more appreciative and in to you than Reg. Reg and Dave bunnyhopping with their insignificant others while wistfully thinking of each other was just. . ..sad...and annoying ... not romantic.

Diana, I completely agree with you about Miguel being a good soul . From the start, I felt bad for the way Nina , Dani, and Err treated him, and I could understand how he would be drawn to Connie who was also treated badly by those three. He certainly showed what a good heart he has forgiving Nina . I may not want to kiss him or see him with his shirt off, but he is a good man.

SusanLynn: I don't really care about seeing other men without shirts to begin with.
With that out of the way, and even though Miggy isn't in Elads league, hell universe, if I were a girl, I'd take anunadorned, unaltered Miggy over Eladio with that nuclear waste thing on his chest.

I don't much care for tattoos.

Very nice Mauricio! A sharp recap with little spent on the unnecessary filler scenes, you got right the the meat!

Arturo is such a tacky distasteful man, for all of his money and supposed breeding, he has no class at all. Who talks that way about his ex wife? So she's the consolation prize now? For all the abuse that Eladio has heaped on women, Arturo is not much better with his mistreatment of the women in his own life. He may not lay hands on them, but the way he speaks about them, refers to them, and completely disregards their opinions and feelings is another form of neglect and abuse all its own. Arturo is an a-hole. DIE Arturo!

I don't like Franco, but if Julia was sincere about wanting Franco to have his rightful name, what would it have hurt her to come by the celebration if only for five minutes? BFD about Caridud, she didn't need to mix with the metiche, just be their to support her niece and her godson (the audiences knows Franco is a psycho, but Julia and David don't) Her words say one thing, but her actions are another. It's hard to not see it from Fanco's pov in regards to Julia. Poor form Julia, poor form.

I don't think it was a big deal not to have a press conference to announce Franco's name. It has no bearing on business, I think it would have been nice for Fanco, because he's excited and rightfully so but it's a personal family matter. I don't think Eladio was even thinking about Marintia and Mateo in that moment, it was clearly about avoiding question from the press and rehashing the whole affair between him and Caridud in the press. Why do that? It's something that Eladio wants to avoid.

I think for as much as Eladio is part of the Marintia/Mateo coverup, he sees it as Franco's hole to get out of, just as he had to get out of his own with Julia. Unlike Art, I don't see Eladio fixing things for either of his sons. He will watch and advise, but ultimately these young men have to handle their own relationships/affairs. I don't think Eladio is too happy about David hooking up with Dani but he knows David has his personal reasons and it's a painful journey he has to let his son take.

Again with Nina and Miguel..just wow! These two characters are really starting to shine for me and that scene was so touching and it brought a tear to me. Marlene has really done a great job of peeling the layers back on Nina. She was a hard, cold calculating self absorbed woman and now she's become this soft, vulnerable woman who is realizing that all glittered in her world was not gold. I am loving this budding mother/son relationship with Nina/Miguel, bravo to the writers for bringing these two unlikely characters together. It was so sad to hear Miguel say that he never mattered to Arturo and Nina never had a thing to worry about. How sad. DIE Arturo!

You bring a smile to my face with this Nandicta! King Eladio indeed, vieja chismosa is just no match for the swagger and class of Eladio Gomez-Luna. Arturo is a desperate immature chump who has to resort to frat boy games to TRY to win the prom queen. #teamEladio

This tn is popping on all cylinders as we round the bases into home plate. I can't wait for next week! As the gringo says...must see tv!

Thank you Mauricio for another stellar recap.

I agree with tofie and Carlos on your best lines: "Julia looks puzzled [and seriously, when doesn't she look puzzled?]", and "Later, Daniela and David say their goodbyes to Yemile, and gross her out in the process,"... and your subtitles regarding fools and idiot sons. Brilliant.

The final scene with Nina and Miguel was so moving, especially the look on Nina's face and the tears. Marlene is a fabulous actress and a beautiful woman.

Wow Mauricio. The recap was BRILLIANT!!

"her face says she'd rather be getting a root canal at the dentist." Glad I ate early last night. That scene was rather painful to watch. And stupid. Does amaze me that if our love birds are supposed to get together by the finale, this close to the end that are getting it on with their current pairings.

Well, let's face it, Stupid seems to be the theme of this TN most days.

I honestly think it's apparent that neither Eladio nor Arturo should win the fair damsel in the tower. For all Eladio's supposed psyche visits and "realizations", I've never seen him take real ownership of his own obsessive, over the top behavior with her for 20 odd years. Maybe some of that is because Julia was so quick to jump on the forgiveness bandwagon as he even remotely started to change, but I would have like to have seen that by now. He and Art are still doing the pissing matches and at this point, I won't hate seeing them take each other down. I thought maybe Eladio was making more progress, but never where Julia is really concerned.

To that end, our ladies are making much better progress. Julia is digging her shrinks insightful comments and hopefully her last light bulb moment will be to realize she's being played by her father since he's all about getting his mitts on Artie's cash. As for Nina, she's seeing how the kids were messed up by both her obsession on trying to be what Artie wanted, and how all he care about was his dream version of Julia he wants back. Those tears said more than any dialog could.

I'm hanging on to my hope that just maybe we get Miguel and Nina as the business twosome leading the company, and maybe with Auggie's help because he is more and more fed up with Artie.

Gaby needs to be put out of her misery. Good lord, that woman has no brain cells firing anymore and it's hard watching how she can't see the hand right in front of her face.

Daisynjay

Im not caught up with this yet but I've seen the scene with Nina and Miguel and it really moved me.
Nina's learning from her mistakes, really trying to become a better person and Miguel has just always been one. I would like to see more of them bonding and more of Favelas amazing acting. She's really outdoing herself with this one!

Mauricio, very spicy n dicy recap. These writers are very clever. This show started out one way and has now done what
Appears to be a reverse. Arturo has put on the evilnasty and eladio still ruff around the edges Is much nicer and, kinda.
Is supportive of both lafies, way much concerned about dani than her jerk of a father. While artty seems to be getting eviler and eviler. Now all That needed is the lights to come on in julia's brain about her moderized daddy and his evil sidekick arturo montenegro [The Terrible].

I like this nina, shes prettier when shes nice. From what I saw she and miguel would have had a sweet mother/son relationship. But that ship done sailed. Maybe, or not.

David and regine. Whatever.
Jorge and dani. Whatever.

Everybody else, we'll see.

"Is supportive of both ladies" is what I meant to say. I hate typing errors→↑

Love the recap! Thank you very much :)

Kirby: Is Purple Lips' hostile walls of amor beginning to crack ? The chickens are coming home to roost!

LoriLoo: Bold Prediction: Mateo will end up with either Gaby or Caridad.

Delilah: Aguie is Arturo's brother ?

Julia still has no idea that she's being conned by Old Goat Humberto!

Marinita: Your days are numbered girl. You just don't know it yet. Plus, she should've stayed in Buenos Aires, Argentina!

Regina doing the nasty with Jorge the Social Climber: GROSS!!!

I'm sorry Steve, I took another look at my post. I didn't see anywhere that I wroter Augie is Arturo's brother. Do you have my post confused w/someone else's perhaps?

To my knowledge, Augie is just a longtime friend of Arturo's.

I agree with you, Marintia's future does not look good. She keeps poking the bear with Franco and eventually he's going to snap with her. She knows too many of his secrets and she's getting too pushy and threatening with him. Not a good move.

Marintia is making a standard mistake believing that a heartless, souless monster values you because it is accepting something from you. In this case sex.

The girl is sooooo wrong. But she will learn a lesson. Unfortunately she may only live minutes after learning her lesson, so her newfound understanding will benefit her scant. Play with fire honey.

I think I liked the old movies where a Francofurter was left without eyes and the ability to reproduce and in the care of a deranged Hannibal Lecter. But otherwise in good health for the time being.

Die Franc Die

What I want to see: Daniela dies. At the funeral, Nina, Miguel, Erick, Regina, Connie, the baby, Luli, Eladio, David, Agustin & Julia are at the funeral, Arturo puts on crocodile tears about how he loved Daniela so much, oh hija boo how, then Miguel gives him the read of his life, telling Art that he grew up wishing he was like Erick and Regina and Daniela, thinking that Arturo cared more about them than him, but he realizes Arturo didn't care about any of them at all; it's just that with Miguel he was more open about it.

Arturo then starts blaming Nina & Eladio for what happened & Miguel reads him again, saying that Arturo blames everyone else except himself for what happens to him. He blamed Miguel for not being with Julia, blames Nina for not being with Julia, blames Eladio & David for Dani doing drugs, he never looks at himself. Everyone leaves, but Arturo only calls out for Julia, which everyone notices.

Later at the board meeting Nina makes a move to oust Arturo as CEO based on him neglecting the business & not making good decisions (Ashmore). Arturo laughs but Miguel joins forces with Nina to give him the boot; the other board members and Agustin, tired of hearing about Arturo & Eladio making spectacles of themselves in public, band together with Nina & Miguel and give Arturo the boot. Erick smirks. Nina then proposes making Miguel the new CEO; Erick blows up at Nina and asks him why would she pick that tonto instead of him, her son? Nina replies because Miguel is better at business than he is. Erick storms off to plot revenge...Arturo is in a tailspin....

That's what I would like to see...

207: What an imagination. That scenario would be super, especially since somebody DIES.

Nina is responsible for the entitlement attitude of Erick and Daniela. She undermined Daniela's previous therapy by allowing her to dodge the shrink. She treated Miguel like garbage and virtually ignored Regina until she got engaged to an immature brat from the "right family." Arturo stood up for Regina when she broke the engagement. Someone else pointed out a while back that this was probably the biggest argument he and Nina had had up to that point.

As to your scenario, Anon, Erick has bigger sins to pay for than the others. He was on his way to becoming the same kind of long-term abusive husband as Eladio was. He is responsible for a death, a rape, and a kidnapping. Most Televisa writers hand out death sentences for any of these but all three? He is either going to die or end up in a hellhole prison.

Arturo has no brothers (or sisters, either). Augustin is his best friend and they might go all the way back to college, but that wasn't specified.

Urban, they haven't ever given us much on Augustin have they? For everyhing we know he is simply a trusted long time employee. I wish they had given us a tidbit about him rather that some of the of the other filler drivel thay made us watch. I for one, would have traded Turtle time for Auggie time.

Augustin has been the Rock of Gibraltar and voice of reason thruogh this show. I hope when the dust clears he has not just unexplainably disappeared.

You are right again (surprise?) that by the double secret unwritten TN rules some Texas-sizes anvils are called for.

Julia looks puzzled [and seriously, when doesn't she look puzzled?].

THAT is just a gem of a line, Mauricio. Not surprised that so many commenters mentioned it.

And you were certainly on fire with your headings...Get The Brain Bleach Ready Tales of the Shameless and Stupid Spouses--Sometimes You Don't Know Whom You Married

On the latter, I would say one NEVER knows whom they married. Sometimes the reveals throughout the years are positive or at least tolerable, sometimes horrible. But there are always surprises. Both ways.

Like how you identified and dismissed the filler scenes, as well as dissing the clumsy acting

[Augustin] puts his arms on his face for dramatic effect. Who directs this stuff?

And agree with Nandicta that Eladio's nyah nyah nyah, she doesn't luv ya comment to Arturo was a riot.

Feeling thankful this morning that we in the US did not have to watch the David/Daniela gross-out action. The aftermath was more than enough.

Happy Sunday everyone (strangely beautiful weather here in normally murky Ohio) and thanks Mauricio for a top-notch, clever recap.

We have no backstory on Augustin, whose only status thus far has been as Arturo's best friend, lawyer, and voice of reason. He has never spoken of family, we don't know where he went to University, and seems to have little or no life outside of the office and his bachelor pad. He's pretty much a priest without a cassock.

He should have had more of a story instead of the WTF family, but we know why we had them. They were connected to both Gisela and Clara, who were both connected to Franco at the outset. They could have made Clara Consuelo's sister instead but probably decided that doing so would have lessened Consuelo's desperation for family, which was why she put up with Ape Child and all the abuse she took from him, Daniela, and Nina. If that had not been balanced out by Arturo, Miguel, and Regina she'd have become a total basket case.

Thanks, Mauricio. Your recap packed a punch. Loved all the commentary. My favorite line: Eladio, ever the gentlemen, and suffering from a lapse of memory, of when he used to yell at Julia, tells Arturo that you shouldn't be talking to a lady in that tone.

Franco is a grown man with a wife, mistress, baby, hitman-blackmailer, and scaredy-cat co-embezzler, but Eladio is still smacking him like he did I presume when Francofurter was a little weenie. No excuses for what Franco is doing, but Eladio helped build this monster. Yes, Franco grew up in a mansion and was given a fine education, but he probably felt like it was a handout (not love) that could be taken away at any time.

ITA it was thoughtless of Eladio not to explain before the dinner that he still wasn't going public and Julia could've showed some class coming. Does Julia not forget that Caridad spent the last 20 years in prison? It's not like Eladio and Caridad were carrying on and laughing behind her back all those years Franco was under her roof.

Erick is already starting to get his karmageddon. Nobody, not even Nina and Dani, trusts him with the business or anything else. Now that Nina has seen the light with Miguel and knows Erick spends not one second taking care of his kid, will she help Consuelo?

In defense of Gaby, it's denial, not dumbness though the result is the same. She's said so many times to Franco "I won't put up with another deception" and "I'm not going to be like Julia was." Nobody says that again and again to someone they trust. She married this fool in a civil ceremony and then in the church, so turning against Franco is a huge deal for her. So she continues to let Caridad and Eladio, who doesn't say "nope, Franco wasn't working late last night," soothe her into staying in denial.

Franco asked Callao if he'd take out the blackmailer if he asked him to. Callao didn’t reply, but he doesn’t trust or like Franco and I'm guessing he won't. His allegiance is with Eladio only. Does Franco have the stomach to do his own dirty work?

Our male villans seem to fall into two categories. Sins out of weakness, and sins of malevolent selfishness. Arturo is certainly a product of his own weakness. Like a puppy who pees on the carpet when a car backfires. In spite of the pee in the carpet you almost feel sorry for it.

Franco and to a lesser degree Erik are malevolent. They know what they are doing and enjoy it. They are unrepenting evil through and through. This is the dog who shits in your bed and kills the cat because you were late getting home.

Eladio is not cut and dry. Like seeing two different people two months ago and now. It is really hard to believe that in a short time he can truly change this much. My observation in life is that people only change when there are major upheavals / trauma in their lives. Death of a loved one, terminal cancer, life-changing auto accidents are usually sure bets. Divorce, bankrupcy, and other day to day hiccups are not severe enough so I am waiting for the other Eladio shoe to fall.

I'll agree in the parent department, none of these people have been stellar, especially the men. And Nine did a far worse job with how she marginalized Miguel, and gave Gina only glancing attention since she had different ideas of her future then Julia did with her charges.

But what I see in the parental females is more and more a willingness to see WHY they acted as they did, how they messed up because of their own issues, and making some semblance of moving forward in a more positive way. Are they perfect? Nope, but I see more to be hopeful with them then I do the men. Eladio I described above with some major past behavior he needs to take better ownership of. Claiming he did whatever because it was his love of Julia makes me twitch.

Artie will need a MAJOR tragedy to befall before he really gets a grip on the fact he's been failure as a parent for the most part. He took out his own lost fantasy on his kids. He put Miguel to the side because honestly, he's the reason he lost Julia, and he didn't really love Nina, so the two kids that aligned with her growing up, he gave lip service to only.

Anon, I like your scenario of a funeral, but I think Artie needs to hit rock bottom and get that moment that all his mess and anger at Eladio WAS HIS FAULT for messing around with someone else. That wasn't some minor slip up that can be brushed aside. No one stole Julia from him, he lost her fair and square. And he needs to own that and make his apologies to all...but I wonder if they will all be so fed up, they don't want to hear it anymore.

Daisynjay

Hehehe.."fed up, they don't want to hear it anymore." Iam.

Julia seems to be aware that Caridud is trying to get Eladio (which is both tacky and insulting to do this in her face). This is what I think is making her forget that Cardud spent 20 years in the slammer. I doubt she knows that Eladio pulled strings to delay her release. Anyone think that knowledge would change her attitude?

To the best of my memory, Eladio hasn't atoned for that, either.

As to Eladio insisting that Arturo falsely accused him of embezzlement I'm still suspicious. It could also be that Arturo's father gave him money he didn't tell Arturo about and/or Eladio murdered his former partner and got his money. There was no other way, without some combination of these things, that he could have built up what GLA was at the time and afforded to buy or build that mansion before marrying Julia. I can believe he may have had more drive than Arturo at the time because he came from nothing, but that wouldn't be enough to get within the same income class so quickly.

Not to mention paying off the rest of Humberto's gambling debts.

I have been reading about "the female gaze" ..literature , movies, TV shows from a female point of view with women writers, directors, and producers. I wonder if there are any women involved in the production of this telenovela. Maybe this show features the simian gaze.

I am watching a very old movie.."Forever Amber." Quite racy for the 1940s.

Judyb...Sunny and clear here, too. It feels great to get outside after the long , cold winter.

4 of the 5 writers are women, but the producers and directors are all men.

It was probably intended from the outset for Julia to become independent of Eladio and to finally be free of Humberto, but I'm sure the rest isn't ending as originally intended.

Since the finale will air on a Friday we should have a good thorough discussion during which anyone who has seen the 1988 version can tell us how they differ. I'm sure the original Eladio was a pure villain because he was played by Enrique Rocha. Claudia Islas was the original Nina (she was Sofia in the 1993 Corazon Salvaje). Paulina Rubio was the character that corresponded to Daniela.

The original Arturo was played by Carlos Bracho, whom I don't think was ever a romantic lead. Diana Bracho was the original of Julia in her pre-villain days.

Thanks for the wonderful recap, Mauricio. I loved your sharp observations about poor Julia's perpetual confusion, Yemelé's reaction to the Daniela and David show, among others. Thank goodness you had stocked up on brain bleach before the episode. Of course, now you can't get the stuff for love or money in Walmart so I don't know what we'll do about future gross-out scenes.

Onward... and downward, I guess. :D

The neglect & mistreatment of Miguel is SOLELY Arturo's fault, not Nina's. Arturo is Miguel's parent and he did not care enough about Miguel to protect him from Nina & the other kids' mistreatment of Miguel. As long as Nina kept Miguel out of his face, he was fine with her mistreatment. It is only when started getting obsessed* with Julia that he started finding fault with Nina.

How the other 3 kids turned out is 50/50 Arturo & Nina. While Nina wasn't the best mom and downright terrible to Miguel, Arturo straight up didn't care. I would argue that just as Franco mimics Eladio, Erick mimics Arturo and not in a good way.

Nina is just now discovering what Miguel has known all along: Arturo just doesn't really care about any of them if they're not Julia. Nina saw that first hand when Arturo spent more time bashing her and lecturing her for pallin' around with Eladio instead of asking about Daniela. It was ELADIO that had to bring Arturo back down to earth regarding Daniela.

*Arturo is actually not obsessed with Julia, at least not with Julia the PERSON. His actual obsession is with ELADIO & he is obsessed with Julia the IDEA to satisfy his obsession with ELADIO.

Julia was in love with Arturo the ESCAPE, not Arturo the PERSON. Once she discovered she is her own escape, her need for Arturo has diminished. The majority of their encounters is because he initiated it.

Eladio was in love with Julia the IDEA, not Julia the person. After Julia gave him a chance, he fell in love with Julia the PERSON. This is why he let her go and why he won't let anyone badmouth her.

Nina was in love with Arturo the PERSON AND Arturo the IDEA. She is now now discovering she didn't know Arturo the PERSON at all and now that she's coming to know him, she doesn't like him at all and that Arturo the IDEA was just that...an idea. It wasn't real.

Arturo never loved Nina the person & only tolerated Nina the idea because she was beautiful, looked good on his arm, was a willing and satisfying bed buddy and kept the kids out of his face.

Miguel only told Nina the truth on Friday: she was competing with Miguel for something that wasn't there for either one of them.

Arturo is obsessed with beating and destroying Eladio, not with loving Julia as a person. The questions to be answered are:

1) Will Julia realize Arturo is only up in her grill to satisfy his obsession with Eladio; he doesnt' really love her as a person, only as an idea/object

2) Will Arturo realize that it is his obsession with ELADIO that has destroyed his family and his life?

The toll that Arturo's obsession with Eladio has taken on his family can't be blamed on Nina.

207: Almost true about Fart and Jewels. Farturo is obsessed with Eladio and is obsessed with taking his most prized possession, his Jewel. Adding fuel to the fire is that Farturo and Jewelia (:-)) had a thing sometime in distant memory. So true that when Julia became a person Eladio loves rather than a fine thoroughbred or sports car or something, he stopped being so possessive.

The most disgusting scene they can probably show, it would be arturo and Julia in the sack. Now that would be worthy of not just bleach and ammonia. I saw a new side to arturo when he came into the resturant and insulted nina. He had a really nasty look on his face. He's just rotten. And he is the only one responsible for julia walkin away not
Miguel, he's just a result of the cheat.

Nina was a grown woman who continually called Miguel a bastard.

While there is no doubt that Arturo should have intervened and stopped it immediately, Nina was beyond cruel and certainly knew better.

She is absolutely guilty and culpable of her own behavior.

Diana

Agree Diana. She treated a faultless, motherless child horribly because of her own selfishness and insecurity. She is getting her anvil and luckily Miguel has been able to turn into an intelligent, honorable man despite his neglect.

So as Mauricio pointed out to us in his recap, the reason that Arturo didn't answer the phone wasn't because that he cared naught about Daniela, It was because he thought that Nina was going to rub in the result of the companies board meeting that went against him. However I still ask, where was the restaurant manager to tell
them to take up their disagreement outside and to stop disturbing the other guests.

The question was asked of those who had despised Nina in the past how do they feel now?
The answer is simple, for me anyway. In the past, Nina was a BITCH FROM HELL! Oh no?
Just ask Regina, Consuelo, Miguel and even Arturo when he even dared to intervene into an issue. Anybody that went against the BITCH FROM HELL really had their hands full and a BIG headache as well. So what has happened since then? I think that after the divorce rocked Nina's world, she started to change, to look at things differently than she once did. The same would go for Eladio. Both of these people are now changing for the better. Will something upset Eladio and cause him to go off the deep end? I don't know but I'm staying tuned. Anyway, for now, he is trying to be a better person but it will take time. ---- As for Arturo, he's getting worse,
not better. It looks like Arturo is starting to spin out of control.

Speaking of the BITCH FROM HELL, Nina has had her chance at playing that part. When Gaby learns what has been going on all around her, will she be cast in that role?

Kirbo---Eladio and his nuclear waste chest tattoo. I'm not into tattoos either.

Both of the mating scenes were unhappy moments in time last Friday. Sorry that you had to end up with them Mauricio.

Nina's anvil is whatever will happen to Erick and Daniela. Erick is headed in a direction that will make his anvil bigger and heavier. Daniela I would say wait and see, but Assmore has to suffer his fate.

Nina was in love with Arturo's money, mansion, sexual talent, and lifestyle (except for having to deal with the wives of Arturo's clients). If Arturo were half the monster some of you insist she could never have loved him at all. She would have wondered why he would neglect Miguel and worry that he would treat any children of hers the same way.

This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.

Nina wouldn't be repeatedly calling just to rub her victory in Arturo's face. ANYTHING could've been wrong:

Erick brain could've relapsed and he was in the hospital

Daniela and her issues

Baby EJA could've gotten sick

Ok, he listens to the messages (because Agustin told him something could be wrong). He didn't ask Nina about Daniela upon seeing Nina & Eladio, he started going off on Nina & Eladio and how terrible a person Nina is. It was Eladio who told him, hey let's bring it back to DANIELA.

Arturo isnt that concerned with Daniela and Dani knows it. It's why she's the way she is.

Art definitely should've picked up the phone and he won't win any awards for his parenting skills, but he does love his kids. Unfortunately, for Arturo and Nina, Dani is a kid that craves a lot of attention and disses the people that could've been supportive of her (like Consuelo, Miguel, and Regina). If David is smart, he'll talk her into going back to rehab for psychoanalysis.

Niecie, you've got it. Daniela is a bottomless pit. No amount of attention is enough for her, so it won't matter what her parents do now. She needed tough love a long time ago. Nina wasn't going to do that and if Arturo had been inclined to it would have been ineffective because parents have to be on the same page regarding discipline.

Nina was a cruel woman to Miguel no doubt, just as Eladio was cruel to David and Julia.

That said, I believe in repentance, apologies, forgiveness and growth. What a sad state if we felt people were just the sum of their past mistakes.

Eladio has apologized to Julia and David, he's trying to atone for his past mistakes, and he continues to show that he has no intention of going back to that man.

Nina's already suffering, she's lost her husband I(who I believe she truly loved and still loves, despite being treated like a used rag by him) she's losing a son, and most likely will lose a daughter. That's plenty of suffering in my opinion and probably more than she deserves. If she apologizes to Miguel and he forgives her, then it's good enough for me.

I find that I care very much about Eladio and Nina, two characters I despised early on.

Art? Not so much. I've yet to see him apologize, own any of his mistakes, or show any intent of changing. He's always right and that's that, even Augie sees that his friend is not stepping up. Is Art a monster? No and I do believe he loves his children in his own way. Unfortunately it's not enough to put them ahead of his own selfish needs. Regardless of how his kids turned out, there were TWO parents in the Montenegro home. It's not all Nina's fault and it's truly unfair to lay it all at her feet. Art working was no excuse for being neglectful and completely out of touch with their emotions. My father worked long long hours and I rarely saw him during the week, but he was very present on the weekends trying very hard to cram as much quality time in with us. It's not about quantity it's about quality time. I don't think Art made any effort to have real quality time with his kids beyond breakfast and maybe dinner. Many fathers work, but they still manage to find a way to connect with their children.

I agree that it would be excessive to lose two out of four children. Erick has no value at all and he is the one guaranteed to get a major Karmageddon. Daniela deserves punishment as well, but I'd rather not see her die.

When is it going to occur to anyone that Daniela is not safe from Assmore?

"When is it going to occur to anyone that Daniela is not safe from Assmore?"
Simple. When ANY of these dim bulbs miraculously grow brains, including the writers.

These people supposedly have private jets, butlers, maids, bodygards, yachts, boat captains, cooks, gates, and gards. B E L I V E me, you do not get onto the driveway if you are not invited. As soon as Ass Wipe was taken off the 'list' he would not be allowed close enough to see the house.

But for tne sake of our show, will Dani not tell anyone that Ass Wipe gave her the drugs? I suppose she is keeping her little mouth shut about Francofurter too. Writers, why set up all these secrets only to leave them on the cutting room floor or use them in the Gran Final.

Dani needs to tell Eladio and / or Farturo the truth about her favorite former co-wipe and watch the show.

BTW in the animal world the other animals would not persevere so long in saving one from herself against her will.

We seem to be going from the biggest baddest anvil competition to 'most improved' gold star. Yawn

I propose a simple equation to size anvils.
It is simple multiplication: Severity of offense times length of offense.

For an example take Nina BFH and her treatmentof Miguel.

Crimes go from say, 1 to 10. Mistreatment of your own stepchild must be about a 6 at least.
She did it for 25 years, thus her Miguel anvil is a size (6x25) 150
Enabling Dani rather than parenting could be a 2 times 20 years is 40
Moulding Erik into a murdering rapist is far more severe, say 8 x 30 240
Benign neglect of Regina really is not anvil worthy, as neither is BFH
So her kid anvil might be a size 430, approx the size of Illinois.

You are dead right about this being a major writing fail. Major rant to come from me during the finale discussion.

Daniela may not be talking because she is embarrassed, ashamed, or planning to score more cocaine. When she does it will be to test Arturo, as she always does when seeking attention from anyone.

Do't get me started on the servant problem.

Oops... :-)

Mauricio thank you so much for your wonderful recap. Sorry you had see all that mating but thankfully that trauma did not impact your wit.

Like my amiga Diana, I was very moved by the Miguel and Nina scene. As Deliah noted, the development of these two characters has been one of the best things in this tn. The actors are adding interesting layers to characters who could be caricatures. And Carlos, I think I can be a fan of this Nina.

I was moved by Miguel. Nina must have had some lash glue in her eye.

"What are you afraid of? That nice tiger hasn't bit anyone in days."

CHOMP
