Pasión y Poder (PyP) #127. Monday April 18, 2016. Let’s Face It, This Novela Is A Glamorized Version Of The Maury Povich Show!

At a glance

-- The cutting room floor fodder took over the whole episode. It seems to be a telenovela tradition to turn Últimos Capítulos into filler galore. Why begin lining up anvils, unravelling hidden truths and tying up loose ends when you can cram it all in the finale?
-- Arturo, PyP’s resident runteldat, runs to tell Julia that Eladio came to his office to provoke him.
-- Eladio, PyP’s resident rogón arrastrado (the crawling begging take-me-back), warns Julia against Arturo’s lies and manipulations.
-- Julia, PyP’s resident Princess Confudida, refuses to listen to anyone except the man who has manipulated her all her life, i.e. her toxic father.
-- Nina, PyP’s resident reformed villana, who never got to commit any real villainies, is flitting about the episode, distributing hugs, smiles and words of support.
-- David, PyP’s resident sisterfudger, is adamant to renounce to Regina while pining for her to anyone who would care to listen.
-- Regina, PyP’s resident love martyr, is adamant to renounce to David while pining for him to anyone who would care to listen.
-- Clara and Justino, PyP’s resident filler, are bugging everybody with their stupid wedding.

A closer look

Tonight’s foray into our favorite ratchet drama starts with a repeat of the scene where Miguel laments that Nina resented him for the love and attention his father never gave him. Now that she has experienced Arturo’s indifference, she can totally empathize. Miguel admits that he would have loved to be treated like a son by her. A single solitary tear of shame and regret rolls down Nina’s perfectly painted complexion.

In Arturo’s office, Agustín tries to reason with the unreasonable: “Don’t you think that you’ve hurt each other enough with all these confrontations?”. Eladio agrees with the wise Consigliere then turns to Arturo: “Pay attention! Agustín and Regina are perhaps the only sensible thing (lo único sensato) that you have left in your life.” There is a tinge of concern in his tone, maybe even pity. Nina opens the door just as Eladio was walking out of his rival’s office. She enquires what he was doing there. He was just trying to clarify a few points with Arturo but it is an exercise in futility, as Nina well knows. Eladio’s tone is now dripping with sarcasm. The new BFFs leave together. Arturo laughs at the sight of his ex-wife and his enemy forming an alliance to destroy him. Oracle Agustín shakes his head and delivers an ominous warning: “Don’t you realize that the path you’re walking is getting more and more narrow (angosto)? You are going to find youself all alone.”

Nina and Eladio are standing outside Arturo’s office. Miguel walks past them and gives Eladio a long insistent stare as he passes the pair without uttering a word. It was creepy and hilarious at the same time. This is my second favorite Miguel moment, the first one being his infamous stink-eye to Julia after the Beso-gate scandal broke out and broke up Davigina. Chimp Boy walks up to them a moment later and demands to know what Eladio is doing in Grupo Montenegro with his mom.

At Casa Gómez Luna, Gabi tells her aunt that the party she organized for Franco was awkward for everyone in attendance. It’s evident that her Tío Eladio has nothing in common with Caridad, adds Gabi. Julia informs her niece that she grew a pair of ovaries the night before and confronted her dad about everything he made her endure. Humberto materializes at that instant and admits that much of the pain his family experienced was provoked by him. He regrets the mistakes he made and begs for their forgiveness.

In the hallways of Grupo Montenegro, Chimp Boy is throwing a tantrum. He accuses Eladio of dating his mother as his latest attempt to irritate the Montenegros. “Out of respect for your mom, I won’t respond to you the way you deserve”, says Eladio. Chimp Boy shakes his index finger in the air and is about to retort when Nina orders him to shut up. Her cellphone rings and she steps aside to take the call. Eladio stares Erick dead in the eyes and warns him to keep quiet like mommy ordered. Eladio knows Erick killed Montzorrat and, when he can gather incriminating proof, nothing will stop him, not even his friendship with Nina. Nina returns; it was Dani on the phone informing her that she and David are taking the plane back to Mexico City. “I was pleased to see you, Erick”, smirks Eladio. I miss Evil Eladio and have to make do with the crumbs the writers are willing to throw me here and there.

Back at Casa Gómez Luna, Julia and Gabi reproach Humberto for never caring about them. They were invisible to him unless they had a man by their side. He breaks down in sobs. He can’t ask his late wife or recently-deceased daughter for forgiveness but he can ask the two of them to pardon his past sins. They fall for his act hook, line and sinker. They hug him and all is forgiven. Suckers!

Clara and Consuelo are at Casa Montenegro to invite Petra to the wedding. She is in a huff because Clara asked Obdulio to prepare her wedding banquet. Clara did it because she wants Petra there as a guest and not as a caterer. Petra informs Consuelo that her adorable tot is being very lippy (respondón); he has inherited the temper of the Montenegros! When Consuelo and Clara go to see Erick Jr., Obdulio approaches: “You see pouty face (trompuda)? It wasn’t one of my intrigues to have Ms. Clara pick me as her caterer!” They repeat the same convo we heard 17 times already: Why did you oversalt the food I was preparing for the bosses back in our old hacienda? Why did you get me fired? If you’d only let me explain, Petrita! I don’t want to hear it! I want to marry you, Petrita! Step out of the way, I’m sweeping (estoy barriendo)! She takes off, but not without letting him know just how much she dislikes him (me caes gordo). In keeping with the overall theme of this telenovela, Obdulio tells himself that he did something detrimental to his lady love because he lurrrves her.

At Casa Gómez Luna, Arturo tells Julia that Eladio went to his office to provoke a fight (echar pleito) but “his [Eladio's] relationship with Nina stopped him” from going any further. Julia suggests they forget about Eladio and Nina; David and Daniela are on their way back from Monterrey. Simona comes in with a flower arrangement addressed to Julia. Princess Confundida looks way too happy for Arturo’s liking: “Sorry, but what awful taste! Who sent you flowers?”

Consuelo is leaving Casa Montenegro when she bumps into Erick. Chimp Boy accuses her of being the mastermind behind Miguel’s business alliance with Nina. Surely Consuelo and her puppet (títere) thought their little stunt will get Nina to lower her guard and allow them to take Little Erick away. “Only dead will the baby ever leave this mansion!”, bellows the simian monster.

“Sorry, I am confundida”, stutters the constantly confused Julia, “I thought you were the one who...”. “I would’ve sent you an entire greehouse (invernadero)”, boasts Arturo. It’s an interesting contrast to Eladio’s: “I could’ve offered you an entire garden of these white roses but you taught me to win you over with small attentions”. I can’t help but wonder whether the same comparison is going through Julia’s mind. Arturo continues spewing his venom: “Surely these are from Eladio. I know him very well! He is not going to stop insisting!”. Julia is mildly irritated. She tells Arturo he is wrong, these flowers are from Franco, to mark his reconciliation with his godmother. “And what if the flowers were from Eladio? I would have to accept them first before you can throw your little jealous fit!”. Arturo just wants her to be careful, that’s all. “OK, let’s go eat!”, he suggests. Once again, she dodges his invitation. She has to work. She has to work her little confused behind off in order to sell houses and get her commissions; that way she doesn’t have to sleep with Arturo. Deluded Art is happy he saw her, anyway. He gives a quick peck and leaves. Arturo is Don Quixote and Julia is his windmill.

Chimp Boy is still threatening his ex-wife. Regina intervenes. Before leaving, he reminds Consuelo that he is the one who holds all the power over her and over their baby. Clara appears again to talk about her stupid wedding. She’s afraid the attendance of Regina, Jorge, David and Daniela will make things awkward. Regina reassures her that everything will be fine. The two couples were together in Monterrey and everything went A-OK between Regina and David. They even boinked their respective new partners in adjacent rooms.

Outside Casa Montenegro, David and Dani arrive and get intercepted by flippin’ Clara and her inane talk about her flippin’ boda. Dani goes into the house as Jorge comes out to lock antlers with David over, you guessed it, Regina!

Inside the house, Regina is boo-hooing about David to Consuelo. Again. Someone please shoot me! She tells Consuelo that she consummated her relationship with Turtle Boy. How was it? Meh! Daniela arrives. Regina tells her she should've stayed in rehab. “What bothers you, really? That I left rehab or that I went to see David in Monterrey?” Regina pouts and puts on her customary constipated face.

Miguel goes to see Eladio at GLA. He wants to find out Eladio’s true intentions with Nina. Eladio reassures him that he is only offering her business advice in his quality of President of the Business Association. Nina’s business plan is excellent and, if she weren’t already part of Grupo Montenegro, he would’ve hired her to implement it in his company. Eladio thinks Miguel is one of the sensible Montenegros and hopes that Arturo listens to him. Miguel admits that his dad doesn’t listen to him, and things are bound to continue this way now that Miguel is siding with Nina at work.

Santa Regina, Mártir del Amor, refuses to answer Dani’s question. Thankfully, Nina’s arrival interrupts the uneasy exchange. Nina greets her girls and mildly scolds Dani for her escape stunt. When Regina leaves, Dani admits to her mother that she overheard David confess his love for Regina in Monterrey. “I don’t know why he said that, he looks happy with you, darling!”, says Nina. Dani thinks that David will never love her like he loves Regina. Nina tries to put her mind at rest: The young man took care of Dani, stood by her all this time and, if she is patient, she can gain his love. However, what should come first now is Dani’s full recovery: “You need be on good terms with yourself before you could be in good terms with others”. I suspect that Nina is just humoring her.

Julia visits David and asks how his trip went and how Dani is doing. David wonders whether his mom is asking because she is interested in Dani’s welfare or because Dani is Arturo’s daughter. Julia is sorry that a young woman is going down such a destructive path. However, she is also concerned that Dani is clinging to her son when she should get better for and by herself. Julia would like her son to become aware of the codependency that prevails in his relationship with Dani and to recognize the fact that he’ll never love her like he loves her sister, Regina. Moving on to another subject, Julia offers to give David her GLA actions because she wants nothing from Eladio. David believes the actions are her patrimony. His dad gave them to her in order to secure her financial future so that she never has to depend on anyone. She needs them in case things don’t go as expected with Arturo. “What? You think I need Arturo to provide for me (mantener)?”, she asks. “Well, since lately you say one thing and you do another...”, says the pot to the kettle. Julia starts explaining herself but David is not in the mood to listen. Whether his mother’s relationship with Arturo was made official very recently or whether it started a lot earlier, it makes no difference (da igual). The end result is the same: It negatively affected David’s relationship with Regina. Anyway, he is tired from the flight and has had a very hectic day. Julia can take a hint. She kisses her cub and takes off.

At the foundation, Gabi is playing los encantados (a freeze/unfreeze game) with the kids in high heels and a short dress that barely covers her crotch. Agustín arrives to offer her a donation and his good wishes for her fertility treatment. He winds up playing with the children and is such a hit that they want him to come back very soon. Oh dear! There goes Clara again! She’s everywhere, she might as well be part of the background decor! She says she came to donate toys but she is really there to sell her stupid Andrea clothes and talk about her stupid wedding.

Julia went to see Eladio in his office. Again. She is worried about their son because Dani is becoming very dependent on him. Eladio agrees: Daniela is using David as a lifeline (tabla de salvación). Julia wants Eladio to help her talk to David. She could’ve totally said this over the phone but no, she needed to ogle beefcake! She hesitates before leaving then says: “That was all”. Eladio informs her that he reproached Arturo for playing dirty and telling lies about him. Eladio does not like the fact that Arturo is confusing his Princess Confundida with lies. That’s Eladio's job.

Obdulio is writing the list of ingredients for the banquet of the wedding of the year. Petra attempts to sabotage his work. I don’t care!

Back at GLA, Julia is outraged at Eladio’s insinuation: “I am no longer a child that people can influence and manipulate as they like!” Bah! I beg to differ! They’ve been playing you like a fiddle, luv! Eladio tries to soothe her: “That’s not what I’m saying. I just want you to be careful, that’s all. Just as a you are always on the defensive with me, I would like you to be a just little careful with Arturo”. “Thank you for your advice but I can defend myself alone!”, replies Julia. All this time fighting in that office could have been put to better and more pleasurable use. Just saying. Princess Confundida is on a self-righteous roll: “I am tired of all the conflicts between you and Arturo over me! The only thing you are going to achieve is force me to disappear so you never see me ever again! Neither one of you!” Go ahead, princess! Vanish into thin air! You will be doing the (PyP) world a favor!

David is in his apartment. Justino brings him an orange blossom boutonnière for the wedding. More talk about the bloody boda. I don’t care!

In Eladio’s office, the reluctant lovebirds are still bickering. I want to forcefully push their heads together and make them kiss. “Julia, Julia! Don’t say this! The last thing I want to do is bother you!”, pleads Eladio. “It’s horrible living like this! I’m tired of so much conflict!”, snivels Julia. Yet she continues to feed the feud she is fed up with, by jumping back and forth between the two rivals. “I would like to disappear”, she continues. “I can’t stop worrying for you! I never will!”, says Eladio. “I always have this hope that you will come back to me.” Julia is not quite as hopeful, and rightly so: “After all the hurt we inflicted on each other and our mistrust of one another, I don’t think this could happen! Besides, why do you want to win me over again? Out of pride? Is that it?” Eladio denies this vehemently: “Of course not! Believe me, Arturo lied to you about my intentions!” Julia is still not convinced: “You are warning me off Arturo as if he were the worst of men, why?” Eladio assures her that he would not have insisted so much had she opted for a good man. He knows Arturo better than she does and he is sure that he does not love Julia; he is only obsessed with having her. Julia is very skeptical of Eladio’s accusations against Arturo. She has made up her mind about dating Arturo and that’s that. “Please, do not intervene! For many years you controlled my life. Just stop it already! Please, I beg of you!” are Julia’s parting words. She walks out just as Eladio utters a pleading: “No, I’m not trying to control you!”. Eladio is Sisyphus and Julia is his boulder.

It’s the Petra and Obdulio show again. I don’t care. Since Obdulio showed up, Petra has been converted into an insufferable heifer.

Arturo is in the mansion to see Dani. She doesn’t want to return to the rehab clinic but she promises to go to her therapy. More so because she promised David. She hugs Arturo: “Good night, dad! I love you!”. “I love you too”, he says. Awww, sweet! Chimp Boy’s arrival ruins the tender moment: “Erick! Come here, please! We haven’t finished talking about your sister!” “Papá, I’m not in the mood!”, whines the despicable ape. “I don’t care what mood you’re in, you are going to hear me!” Love it when Arturo chews out his idiot son!

At Casa Gómez Luna, Julia enters the living room huffing and puffing. Humberto wants to know what’s up. She tells him about her most recent argument with Eladio and accuses her ex-husband of lying to besmirch Arturo’s reputation. It’s actually the other way around, but, since you are so smart and capable, I am sure you will figure it out all on your own, princess! Julia announces that, from here on out, she will allow nobody to run her life for her ever again! Nobody! Humberto looks a tad disconcerted

Back at Casa Montenegro, Erick denies having had anything to do with his sister’s escape from the rehab clinic. Arturo's cellphone interrupts them. It’s Humberto calling to warn him that Eladio continues to meet with Julia. He even told her that he still loves her! Arturo can’t believe his ears: “What?”. Humberto keeps snitching: Eladio is putting ideas into Julia’s head. He might even convince her to go back to him! “No, no, no! I’d have to die first before that happens!”, yells Arturo. Erick wants to know what's going on. “It’s a business that’s none of your business”, replies Arturo. Erick asks Dani to confirm that he never helped her escape. She reveals that Erick visited her at the clinic to ask her to let him manage her GM shares.

Sweet Mother of Mercy, it’s Justino again, talking about his wedding, this time to Eladio! After Justino finally leaves, David complains to his father that Jorge doesn’t miss an opportunity to rub his happiness with Regina in David’s face. Eladio offers to accompany his cub to the wedding of the year, in case he needs his daddy’s support. Mufasa is always there for his little Simba. They basically have the same talk that David had earlier with his mother, except that, this time, cubby is actually listening. The only addition to what we already heard is that Eladio doesn’t think it’s fair to be giving Daniela false hopes. David likes her but he doesn’t love her. What will happen when Dani realizes that? David assures his dad that this won’t happen. Eladio isn’t quite as confident

Arturo scolds Erick for wanting to take his sister’s actions. He has his own, why does he want more? Besides, his mother would be a drooling fool if she ever cedes control of hers and her daughters' shares to Erick. Chimp Boy leaves in a huff, but not without uttering a dumb threat: “You will see, Papá!”.

In Nina’s bedroom, Regina and her mom talk about Jorge. Even though, at first, Nina did not accept the young man, if Regina has made up her mind about him, then she will happily support her daughter's decision. After all, Nina was not born in a gold cradle (cuna de oro) either. She hopes this gesture compensates, in a small measure, Regina’s unsolicited sacrifice of her relationship with David out of loyalty for her mother. Nina asks Regina how she honestly feels about Dani and David’s romance. Santa Regina, Mártir del Amor, would rather see her sister in a happy relationship with David than have something bad happen to her because of drugs. Nina hugs and thanks her daughter. She looks really moved while Regina looks like she is having a bowel movement.

Julia is prostrated on her bed like a lovelorn teenager. She has the sads, which is usually her favorite state of mind after that of being chronically confundida. Humberto slithers into his daughter's bedroom. He wonders whether, after gaining a job and the ability to decide her own life (there must be rip-roaring laughter in his devious brain), it isn't time for Julia to stop going to therapy. If she is going to be in a relationship with Arturo, she should relax and enjoy life, instead of depending on her Dr. Phil for everything. Julia needs her therapy. End of discussion. I’m glad she is putting her foot down, but this must be clue number 36 that her dad is lobbying for Arturo but, like all the previous ones, it flies right over her pretty head. Seriously, when is her brain getting reactivated? This much cluelessness is not normal!

Across town, Eladio is with his new Dr. Phil. Eladio feels that Julia is being manipulated by Arturo and he can’t do anything to protect her. He’s afraid that Arturo will hurt her. This provokes feelings of anger and impotence in him. The same goes for his son. He would like to protect him but he can’t. Dr. Phil thinks that Eladio’s feelings are normal, especially considering that he used to control the life of Julia and, to a smaller extent, the life of his son too. Eladio is not talking about control, he is talking about providing help. As for his control of Julia, he admits that he did it because he was desperate at the time; he didn’t want to lose her! Dr. Phil must have had a mental eye-roll at this lame excuse. “All I want to do is help; that’s all I want! because I had a personality transplant after a year and a half of therapy!”, insists Eladio. “That’s fine”, says Dr. Phil, “but you need to let them make their own decisions and take responsibility for their lives, just like you are starting to assume responsibility for your mistakes and for their consequences.”

Back at Casa Montenegro, Arturo regrets that Erick only wanted to use his sister. “I don’t understand what happened to him. We used to be so close!”, wonders Dani. She admits that Regina, despite everything, has been far kinder and supportive to her than Erick. “Regina is noble, maybe too noble.”, says Arturo, “She renounced to David because of me and out of loyalty to your mother. I’m not saying this to make you feel bad. I know you love your mom.” “Yes, but, like you said, Regina is very noble and very stupid!”, concedes Dani. Arturo is glad that Dani now values her sister more and that she is no longer mad at him. “I still can’t forgive you for everything that happened, but, for now, I don’t want to have any more problems with you, because I love you very much!”, says Dani. “This makes me very happy. You’re gonna go to therapy. You can do this! You’re a Montenegro! I love you!” They share a tender embrace then he leaves. Nina, who witnessed this scene from afar, is touched by the sweet complicity between father and daughter: “At least your papá did something good today!” She hugs her little one, a blissful expression adorning both their faces. It’s the calm that precedes the storm.

A quote from the capítulo

“(...) las terapias son lo único que me mantiene consciente con todo este asunto de Eladio y Arturo.”*

*Julia thinks her Dr. Phil helps her keep her ideas straight. Can you imagine how much more confundida she would be without him? “(...) the therapy sessions are the only thing that keeps me mindful of this issue of Eladio and Arturo”. #ThankTheLordForDrPhil

Photos of Premios TVyNovelas 2016

This is proof that an OK novela can captivate audiences purely on the strength of its cast's performances.
I had to uglify myself a little, 'cause women were throwing themselves at me in the street and yelling: "Eladioooooo!"
Goody! I won! I slay every dress I wear and my luscious locks smell like joy! :)
Noone would do me the immense favor of burning my man vests!
I won a prize and you didn't! In your face, Franco!

Hello Patio Pals! I'm subbing for Cynderella today. Please forgive the tardiness! I still have four scenes to add + the vocabulary list. I'm working as fast as I can! Thanks for your patience! (I'll let you know when the rest is up).

Wow. Thanks,Nandicta, you are such a good person to sub for this recap. When will this stop? These people have worn me down. I need a telenovela with a true hero, and I have a funny feeling that it is not going to be the one following this train wreck. Ivan Sanchez just does not do it for me. He always seems rather humorless whether hebis cast as the villain or the galan. I remember how Carlos fretted about the giant terrariums in his mansion when he was a villain..I think that was in LT. He was given to massive hissyfits in that one. There's not angry (FC) , and then there's BSC angry. Just sayin'.

Wow Thanks Nandicta, you Do have a knack for this. I instead watched Lucifer, where we have an evil guy who actually is not , etc. etc. etc. Actually I spent the whole hour flipping back and forth. So this recap fills in the blanks. Thanks much.

Auggie would do better talking to Regi's non-mated turtle than talking to Farturo about Juls.

Nandicta, splendid.

"resident runteldat', "resident rogón arrastrado", "resident filler" were superb. Please add "A single solitary tear of shame and regret roll down Nina’s perfectly painted complexion" to my list of favorites.

"Julia suggests they forget about Eladio and Nina". Perhaps Julia is maturing just a bit herself. I hope she sticks to her resolution to make her own decisions, starting with her horrid father. I hope Eladio and Arturo find out he's been playing one against the other...I do feel for Julia and Gaby though, particularly Gaby as almost everyone in her orbit has lied to and/or cheated her.

Everyone knows David does not love Dani the way he loves Regina. Deep down, he realizes it as well. What will be the catalyst to bring the two together again? I don't want Dani hurt but she is struggling and I don't see her mentally able to step aside and let them be together.

Did Erick threaten to kill his son or did I completely misunderstand that? I thought he said something about murder and Consuelo looked appropriately appalled. I hope I misinterpreted that.

Augustin is right in that Arturo is alienating himself from everyone. While I was glad to see he and Dani are getting along better, even Miguel is keeping a wary distance. I see Arturo's empire crumbling as he struggles on alone. There is no way he and Julia will end up together (I speculate)...

susanlynn, I had so hoped for Rulli and Boyer next. I am not an Ivan Sanchez fan either for the reasons you mentioned. The premise looks grim so I'm not sure if I will watch.

"Sweet Mother of Mercy, it’s Justino again, talking about his wedding, this time to Eladio!" made me smile Nandicta.

You give so much of yourself and it is greatly appreciated!

Diana

Holy smoke!! Nandicta, you hit this one out of the park. And may I say, I echo your frustrations to the core.

I've been fighting a sore throat, was feeling tired and lazy, so thought I will watch and this should be getting good since we're getting to the end. And that would be one big NO!!!I want that hour of my life back.

It was the same arguments with different people for an hour. (Does anyone actually work or make a difference in society in general??). That was the most ludicrous episode with us so close to the end ever.

So here's my guess since we had to hear HOW MANY TIMES this stupid wedding is coming...everyone will show up and we get some major confrontation and/or argument and it all starts going south from there. I mean, it gives some credence to the existent of our resident, Telenova-required poor family, but I could think of better ways to start the armegeddon.

You know things are bad when you can't even enjoy watching Petra anymore.

Daisynjay

I wish Justinioilda whatever, would find out Clara is boinking the producer, we would be done with this freaking Boda.!

:-)

Eladio: Pssst, Hey Farturo, you ever pull her hair? WOW !

I think this whole mess would be greatly improved with a big bunch of bullets, and laxatives.

For those wondering how the writers get rid of Daniela so that Regina and David get together at El Fin, need only see one of the advances of coming episodes. I will not mention in detail what I saw, but it does involve Ashmore.

The English captions last night were literally and figuratively retarded. That and the fact that the episode was almost all talk made Nandicta's recap especially valuable. Thanks!

Great recap Nandicta!!! I was exhausted last night so I missed this episode. I'll try to ff thru the highlights tonight.

When o' when will some anvils drop? I especially want to see Hummy get a whopper and soon.

Is it possible Erick may try to kill his dad? Definitely capable of it. But I can't believe he would be capable of killing his own child.

Julia is always confused and believing the wrong people. Seems to be a permanent state.

Hey beautiful peeps! Kindly refresh the page! I added the four last scenes (4 paragraphs) + the quote + the vocabulary at the end. Apologies once again for the lateness!

I'll jump in the comments a bit later or tomorrow morning. I have people coming over for dinner. I hope you enjoy the recap and discussion. Many thanks to Cynderella for giving me the opportunity the recap the penultimate Monday of this show.

Just for info, Pasión y Poder was the second biggest winner of Premios TVyNovelas! Guess what? It won Mejor Novela (Best Novela), Fernando Colunga won Mejor Actor Antagónico (Best Villain). He hugged Jorge Salinas before accepting his prize. He sported a beard and a weird crew cut, but still looked yummy in a blue and white ensemble. I hope he's working on a new role.
Fabiola Guajardo (Gabi) won Mejor Actriz de Reparto (Best Supporting Actress) Say whaaaat? You read it right! José Pablo Minor won Mejor Actor Co-Estelar (Best Second Lead Actor). The novela won Mejor Reparto (Best Cast) and the lovely lovely Susana González, whom I just adore, won Mejor Actriz Co-Estelar (Best Second Lead Actress) for La Sombra del Pasado. She looked absolutely gorgeous and looked chuffed to bits with her prize.

I was very disappointed that Jorge Salinas didn't win in his category, Pablo Lyle won it. Danilo Carrera and the excellent Don Luis Bayardo (Humberto) lost in their categories. I was particularly bummed out for Bayardo, even though I'm a fan of Arturo Peniche who beat him in the category of Mejor Primer Actor (Best Veteran Actor) for his turn in the highly acclaimed A Que No Me Dejas, which was the biggest winner of the night. I debated whether to share clips of the ceremony with you but I decided not to. Youtube is rife with PyP spoilers and I'm afraid the videos on the side bar might show you something you can't unsee. I'll try to share some photos if I can.

Catch you later! :)

Yeah, same here, the C Captions were in, from what I could tell, pig latin. And just mostly the name of the network and show over and over. The strange part I noticed, when there was a caption it was in ALL CAPITALS. Go figure.

Carvivlie you assign human traits to inhuman characters. I would believe anything from Ape and Francofurter. Cannibalism is not uheard of in the simian world. :-)

Nandicta now I'm worried. If FC won best villain then he won't get the girl in the end and I want him and Julia together.

Thank you Nandicta. I love your "resident" names, they are perfect. I'm especially with you on the Justino and Clarita boda filler <>, although the boda must be some kind of set up for the anvils to start dropping since they gave us a quick peek at the guest list.

I vote for Eladio, Nina, Auggie and Miguel running a combined corporation called, "GAGLM", since each are buying the others' shares. Arty will become Hummy's roomate at the old folks home. Gaby will grow a spine. Caridad will disappear from the earth. Franco and Chimp Boy will share a cell in the pokey. EJ's name will be changed to Harold, or something like that.

As for Dave/Dani and Gina/Turtle, I just don't care. As Dr. Carlos would say, "Next!"

Please refresh your pages again! I have a little treat for you! Photos of our PyP winners in Premios TVyNovelas 2016, that way you won't be tempted to googl stuff and encounter spoilers.

Regarding your question, Carvivlie, anything can happen with a Güero Castro novela! My lips are sealed! Stay tuned, enjoy the ride and we can talk about this further on the discussion thread of the finale.

I'm sorry I can't read all the comments and interact with you because I really must dash!

Many many thanks for taking the time to read and comment. You guys are the best! :)

Have a great evening and catch you tomorrow! :)

Thank you Nandicta. A wonderful recap and I loved the vocab and the quote.

I'm annoyed at Guero Castro for ruining the Petra character. She was the only saving grace among these brainless and shameless people and now there she is sabotaging Obdulio's catering and Clara's wedding reception in the process. The only silver lining is that this will spice up the wedding which would otherwise be yawn city if we have to put up with it without the sabotaged food that will hopefully give some of these people food poisoning.

And speaking about Clara, how many more times will we have to put up with her selling
crappy clothes and shoes to our characters?

Where are those anvils? When will Guero Castro start wrapping things up? I feel like he is saving it all for the final hour. #NotGood

The best part of this episode: it was a Franco and Caridad free episode!

Oh Nandicta superb! Your nicknames for each character was so appropriate and hilarious!

Arturo is simply exhausting, he has the nerve to attack a vase of flowers, before he even knows who the arrangement is from. He is by far the tackiest most uncouth man and I don't even know how Julia can stand to be around him. No manners, no grace and no class. DIE Arturo!

On the other hand, wow good move Franco! For all of his bad behavior the flowers were pure class, even if he wasn't sincere.

Erick really is vile, threatening his own child.

What is Humberto up to? Why does he turn on the water works for Julia and Gaby? Does he fear that his plan is about to be blown to bits and he may be out on the street?

Augustine and Gaby are cute, they are starting to grow on me. I just don't understand wardrobe putting those outfits and heels on Fabiola. I don't know how she can walk or sit much less scurry around with those children.

Miguel's concern for Nina is moving, I really really enjoy where they are going with him and I hope there is less of him and Consuelo in the final days. I like that they are letting him evolve as a stand alone character that is not attached to Consuelo all the time or a punching bag for Erick.

Regina....zzzzzzzz. I am so over her pity party for one. No one made her have sex with Boreje and now she wants to complain about it? At least David is getting the better end of the deal. We know he is not complaining about sexy time with Dani. There's that at least.

Petra and Obdulio/Clarita and Justino; I don't understand why the viewers are having this valuable time sucked up by these less important characters, when we are wrapping up. Grrrr.

Julia, please shi& or get off the pot. Stop coming around to discuss David with Eladio, a phone call will do or better yet, let your son handle his own lousy love life. She needs to stop with the mind games with Eladio. He got the memo already that she is with Arturo so there is no need to keep coming by to remind him she is ready to start her life on her own. Or make him feel bad for this or that..blah blah blah. Enough Julia, move on. I think if anyone needs boundaries now it's Julia.

Thanks for the update on the winners, but best TN? Oh good lord. The one I can totally agree with is Susanne winning for La Sombra. Good lord, she was unbelievable in that one. Too bad they made her such a mess in this show because I generally love her acting and characters.

Daisynjay

The best part of this episode: it was a Franco and Caridad free episode!

I love Danilo and enjoy the Franco antics. Caridud not so much.

Still, I would have preferred seeing Franco/Caridud over Clarita and Justino running around to talk about their boda. There scenes were pointless and do nothing to further the stories along as we wind down to the final.

Thanks Nandicta, this was a kind of a funny episode. Juls is really fightin the feelin. Its fun watchin her tryin to be
miss independent of arturo and eladio. And then she goes back home and gets sucked back in by hummy the motor but dad. I'll be glad when the super dark glasses are off her blind eyes.

David is miserable.
Regina is miserable.
Jorge is fighting a loosing battle.
Dani is fighting a loosig battle. Maybe two.
Those are four very miserable people, and I wish they would just put us out of their misery.

Arturo is going off the deep end.
Major changes on the herizon for everybody. Good for some, really bad for others.

Good recap Nandicta. Thanks:-D

Gracias, Nandicta. I share your frustration at how the writers have been ruining this novela, which should have been better.

In response to Carvivlie, I think Erick is perfectly capable of killing his own child... his father, and siblings as well. Notice that every time Nina has tried to get Erick to take any responsibility for the baby he somehow wiggles out of it. He has no respect for Regina or Miguel, never did. Arturo is only an ATM to him and while Erick seems to love Nina I don't think he respects her very much, either.

Nina's anvil is falling now, and that is the light-bulb moment she will have to have about Erick and to watch his fate. If he ends up in prison and she visits him she will always have to endure not only the pain of seeing what has become of him but the catcalls of the cellblock, her punishment for using Arturo's hormones to climb the social ladder. She might have to resort to dressing in dowdy clothes to visit Erick... unless she decides he doesn't deserve it.

Did Fabiola win for this show?! Sorry for the actresses in the category. She doesn't deserve to win for this thankless role.

Thank you Nandicta. Very clever girl, you

Thanks, Nandicta. Terrific recap of a snoozy episode. My favorites: Princess Confudida and Sweet Mother of Mercy, it’s Justino again, talking about his wedding, this time to Eladio! Loved your running riff on the boda nobody cares about. Yay, bonus photos. Me gusta FC with the mustache and beard.

Cynderella, hope all is well and that you just needed a break.

I loved Dani outing Erick to their dad for visiting her in rehab only to ask for her shares. I like Dani when she’s being bold and blunt (without drug use). This clingy “I’m nothing without David” is so far from who she use to be.

I also liked seeing Augie visit Gaby at the orphanage. Cute.

I don’t think Erick is capable of killing his own baby, but the mere fact he would even say “only over the baby’s dead body” shows he’s going down in a big way. No redeeming quality in him at all. Franco at least cares about his baby.

I’m not thrilled with Miguel talking negatively (though lightly) about his dad to Eladio. Arturo has apologized repeatedly to Miguel for his past indifference and trusts his oldest son greatly. Though Art didn’t like Miguel voting for Nina’s proposal, he didn’t blow up at him about it.

Delilah63, I too missed Franco last night. As I started to nod off because of the filler, I wondered when Franco would pop in with a dirty deed to wake me up.

A single solitary tear of shame and regret roll down Nina’s perfectly painted complexion.

Just brilliant, Nandicta. As was the rest of the recap. I especially liked this trio of observations:

Arturo is Don Quixote and Julia is his windmill.

Eladio is Sisyphus and Julie is his boulder.

Mufasa is always there for his little Simba.

Your cultural knowledge is amazing. I certainly would not have known the name for our game of Freeze! is "los encantados" But I see that Augustin is making serious inroads in our dopey Gabriela's affections by joing in this little juego. Sure hope she turns out to be worth the effort.

Also appreciated your translation of "trompudo" as pouty face. That one has always puzzled me, and alas I have never looked it up. Now I don't have to.

You're a fabulous recapper and the depth and breadth of your knowledge of the language, the Hispanic culture...and your overall literary culture, period, is amazing. Wonderful for us who get all the benefit. Thanks for being such a smarty pants in the best sense of the word.

Daisynjay...you made me laugh with your "I want my hour back!"

I did not watch last night's episode and after this incredible recap I don't think I have to. Nandicta, you were outstanding! I was laughing and snickering at every line! I so enjoyed this recap that when I have more time, I want to read it again! So many good lines. I hope I can come back and say more later but I just had to say thank you for putting this much joy in my day!

If you had asked me earlier who is capable of killing their kid, Franco or Erick, I would have chosen Franco without hesitation. I just can't see Erick intentionally killing his kid but I can see him being stupid enough to kill by accident.

Oh, Delilah, throughout most of this show , those exact words have been going through my head..."**** or get off the pot"..one of my mother's favorite expressions whenever I could not make a decision. Her otherfavorite was "patience is a virtue" although she sometimes had little.

"or get off the pot." Like I said, some bullets and laxative.

Nandicta,

This recap is phenomenal. Thanks for stepping in. I agree with Judy, your knowledge of just about everything is downright mind boggling and your wit is rapier sharp. We're lucky to have you with us.

Well, I for one find the writing for this to be very refreshing and I'll take a wild guess and bet that gringo will agree with me on this. I'm enjoying the surprises and inconsistencies and character turnarounds. We complain all the time about the TN cliches and now there's howling because certain expectations aren't being met.

UA,

"...punishment for using Arturo's hormones to climb the social ladder."

So Arturo hasn't used her?

Carlos

Carlos, so glad to know that you are alright. The flooding shown in Houston looked devastating. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Judy,

Thanks, right now the floodwaters have us relatively isolated but we have no significant damage nor did any water make its way into our house, but it was close. Our yards look like lakes. Many of our neighbors and friends weren't quite so lucky. The storms Sunday night and Monday morning were spectacular. Lots of sunshine today.

Carlos

Carlos...Like Judyb, I was wondering how you and yours were doing. Glad to hear that you are okay. P.S. Have you watched the first two episodes of season two Outlander

Thank you very much for the recap!

Susanlynn: Does Arturo even know that Purple Lips & Miguel launched a coup against him ?

Carlos: Daniela's final days on earth: TICK, TOCK, TICK TOCK. Ashmore's going to strike when none of us see coming.

Judy B: Eladio talking to Dr. Phil again for the umpteenth time: he just can't let go of Julia.

Kirby: We didn't have to see psycho Franco in last night's episode, but we did get to see Gaby & Aguie googling over each other.

Too bad Gaby can't have kids :(

However, I do expect her to keep running the GLA Foundation!

Carvivile: Erick is just downright DESPICABLE. Threating to kill Jr., & plus, saying it to Connie's face.

Clara & Justino getting married :)

Delilah63: Regina & Connie need to have their own spin-off show LOL!

Carlos, glad to hear you're alright. When Hurricane Sandy came through here it didn't come anywhere near me but some friends in the East Village were two blocks away from the closest flooding. They had no electricity for five days.

OMG Nandicta, you describe it all just the way I feel, ugh

This is pretty high on the worst novelas list, WHEN WILL THE PAIN STOP?

I'm punishing myself to the end, however

Pobre FC, hope the salary was high.

I reread this recap again, that's how much I loved it. I have to agree with everyone else, Nandicta, your knowledge and what you infuse into your recaps, is outstanding! Buenísimo!

I'm going to be really bummed when this novela wraps up. For all of the torture we've been put through with some of these dysfunctional romances/relationships; I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey, and I will give credit more the actors than to the writing. If any other actor besides FC had played Eladio, I doubt I would have been as invested. He has been absolutely mesmerizing to watch and has played the mercurial Eladio to masterful perfection without making him into some one note caricature. I found myself completely engrossed in this character in ways I did not expect when this tn started. I was always a fan of his work, but wow..just amazing as Eladio Gomez-Luna!

I have to also give major props to Marlene, she has been stellar as well. I did not look to her to be any sort of heroine when this began. Her character evolvement has been a complete and total surprise to me. She is certainly very flawed, like Eladio but I am starting to admire her as she comes to a much more mature and maternal approach to family. She's not looking to any man to replace Art or feed her ego. It's all about her family and seeing about building a future in business.

I still love Julia and I think SG is beautiful to watch, but I'm finding myself a bit disappointed by Julia's constant whining about not wanting to be defined by men or taken care of by them, but she does nothing to extricate herself completely from Art/Eladio. I could take her more seriously if she had packed it all up and moved away for a fresh start from both of them. I don't see her completely alone by the end of this TN. She will pick one despite her protests. Julia is not a woman who can truly be alone without a man to love or admire her despite her protests.

I still say it will be Eladio she ends up with. Art is starting to lose his marbles as each day passes.

Special props to Danilo who made Franco so exciting to watch and obviously studied Colunga enough to master some of Eladio's signature characteristics. He had great chemistry with everyone he interacted with and of the younger set was the complete star. I can't wait to see this young actor take on more exciting roles.

Steve said: "Too bad Gaby can't have kids :-)
To the contrary Mi Amigo. Perfect. Preggers is an embarrassing way to get caught.

Nandicta,
Thanks so much for filling in with this awesome recap.

I also want to thank our recapping team. Cynderella, Urban Anthropologist, NovelaMaven and our team captain Mauricio. Sorry I have not joined in the convo or thanked you individually. Believe me I wish I could, but please know that I read every recap and comment. There are circumstances beyond my control that deter me from commenting more often.

Hasta Pronto!

Susanlynn♥ and UA,

Thanks so much for your concern. We have been very fortunate. We didn't even lose our electricity although we were without satellite for the better part of a day and were completely unable to leave our house until this afternoon. Lots of streets and roads are still underwater and more rain is expected though no way nearly as much.

Susanlynn♥,

I've got both episodes of Outlander recorded but haven't watched them yet. I've got my Scotch and Drambuie ready though.

Delilah,

I share your feelings about this TN as well as your opinions of Eladio and Nina. I almost stopped watching after seeing Eladio so out of control when the show opened, now he's a favorite. I've enjoyed Nina from the beginning and must say that I'm not at all surprised with her growth. Initially I was hoping for a little more meanness from her but I think my comments about her basic worth has not wavered.

Carlos

Clara does look HOTTER!

Carlos, indeed you didn't waver from Nina, you were solidly in her corner.

I really loved how this TN flipped the switch on me. I was pro Art and loathed Eladio, and I was so anti Nina and even Miguel. Now I loathe Arturo and wish him death, while cheering on Eladio and Nina to rise to the top! I found Miguel so creepy and annoying and now I am taking great notice of him as he interact with Nina. The relationship these two are now forming has me so intrigued and I hope that Miguel finally gets the mother in Nina he never had. I have nothing against Consuelo (other than she is a constant victim) but I think what Miguel always needed was a real family to nurture and love him. Nurturing and loving his own will come after he has experienced it.

Dr. Carlos, I am pleased as well that you are alright. I just saw more photos of Houston tonight - it looks dreadful.

For me I think the tide turned for me with Nina after EJ/Harold (my name for the baby) was born. Before his birth she was all about the GM shares that Art gave him. After the birth she turned into a loving Grand-mama.

And I love the light colored lipstick. So classy.

I was tossing and turning for a while, so I decided to just give in to insomnia! I'm glad you enjoyed the recap, guys! Thanks ever so much to each and everyone of you for taking the time to read and comment! I really appreciate it.

Fear not, Cynderella fans! She is fine; just had a wee problem with her CCs. She shall be back next Monday for another one of her cyn-fully snarkilicious recaps! I can't wait!

Onto the comments!

-- Susanlynn: Ay, amiga! I feel like Carla Estrada's novelas de época spoilt you for galanes who are also heroes. The typical telenovela galán is not a heroe, he's a pissy arrogant playboy that makes his protagonista suffer until the bitter end. There are some exceptions. Very few, really. Still, PyP is the farthest thing from a train wreck. If you want to see a real train wreck, I suggest you visit our very small patio of tenacious survivors, over on Sueño de Amor. Now THAT is a self-respecting train wreck! I'm recapping that one, so I'm stuck there till the bitter end! I feel like God is punishing me for being so shallow. I tuned into an Osorio production, against my better instincts, purely to ogle Cristián de la Fuente. But I digress...

As regards the show following this one, I am actually looking forward to it. I'm not interested in Iván Sánchez at all, my main pull to Yago are 3 things:

1) The story. They say it's an adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo and that is partially true. The show is an adaptation of a Turkish series Ezel. I has been a sensation in every country where it was shown. I was dubbed into plenty of languages, including Spanish and Arabic. When it was shown in the Arab World a few years ago, people were obsessed with it. I had friends and colleagues who wouldn't shut up about it. Televisa bought the rights to the story and is remaking it faithfully, down to the visual style and color palette. Even some of the character names are close to the original ones and the Mexican female protagonist is the doppelgänger of the Turkish one. I don't know why Televisa doen't say that Yago is the remake of Ezel. Maybe their principal rival in Mexico, Azteca, is planning to broadcast Ezel soon.

2) The length. It's 62 episodes. That's only just over 3 months. Music to my ears!

3) Flavio Medina is the main villain. I would watch this guy in anything! He is simply fantastic!

I hope you give Yago a chance. I know I will. I haven't watched Ezel but I heard so much praise about it for so long and I sneaked a peek at the first episode, dubbed in Chilean Spanish. The thing looks spectacular! I can't wait for the gran estreno.

-- Kirbo: You left a very kind comment over the weekend and then again today. Let me tell you that the respect and admiration are mutual. I thought about you just the other day. I found a photo of Wednesday Addams (which reminded me of Gabi) and it had that phrase you mentioned here a couple times about letting free the people you love, except this one had a twist: "Si amas a alguien, déjalo ir. Si regresa, es porque alguien más también lo dejó ir. Es decir que nadie quiere a esa porquería" ("If you love someone, let them go. If they comes back, it's because someone else let them go. Meaning that nobody wants that piece of trash!") :D

I like your suggestion for adding laxatives and bullets. However, I am hooked to this TN like nobody's business! I whinge about it occasionally (OK, quite a bit!), but I am loving every minute of it!

-- Diana: Everytime I feel like Julia is getting a semblance of character growth, I break out the pom-poms and join her cheering section, only to see her disappoint me a few minutes later. At the start of the show, I was more in love with her than Eladio and Arturo combined, now all I want to do is knock some sense into her with a large rubber mallet. I still think she is a goddess and her luscious locks smell like sunshine and joy! #HairGoals #BodyGoals

As regards, Chimp Boy harming Erickcito, I don't put anything past that heartless criminal!

-- Daisynjay: I hope you feel better soon! I hear your frustration, sister! I watched this episode twice. However, I don't want my two hours back! Any time spent ogling my sexy beast, Eladio, is time well spent! #IAmThatShallow

-- Gobluefan: I am so glad the recap helped you fill in the blanks. I also appreciate that you didn't discuss the avance for our fellow Patio Pals who finds them spoiler-ish.
I must confess that I have a soft spot for Daniela. Always have. She is a very nice person but at least she is upfront about it. What you get is what you see.

-- Carvivlie: Julia frustrates me to no end, too! But Eladio loves her and I love Eladio. #ILoveHisDeviousBehind #YesIDoHaveIssues #PagingDrPhil

-- Loriloo: I'm totally onboard with your suggestion to merge the two conglomerates. The same goes for renaming the cutest telenovela baby ever Harold. I had a crush on the cutest Harold ever, a 2-feet tall Germanic type. I usually like morenos but this blondie was funny, pretty easy on the eye and very very well-read. #SmartIsTheNewSexy
As for the young couples, I really don't car either. Regina and David have been dead to me for many weeks.

-- Mauricio: You are absolutely right! The writers are doing teh show a disservice by turning Petra into a shrew. However, if there is one single thing that I will never ever forget the writers for, it's the WTF Family, including the late, and most certainly not missed, Maribel!

As regards Clara, she's the Güero's latest squeeze, a hybrid of La Gaviota and La Boyer. Need I say more? #SheWantsHerNovelaBoda #MustKeepTheLittleMujercitaHappy

-- Delilah: I second everything you say. I have been a Nina fan from the get-go. I love me a good villana and Marlene was shaping up to be a good one until the switcheroo came into effect little by little and the poor woman ended up suffering more ordeals over the course of the show than the mismísima female protagonista. I started disliking Arturo ever since started belittling his wife because he had a reencounter with his old flame and decided his wife isn't worth sh*te. Apart from an uneasy start in the first 2 or 3 episodes, Eladio had me at Hola. Loved him as a villain, loved him as a suffering obessessed control freak, loved him as rejected -albeit abusive- husband begging for crumbs of love and stuck in a vicious circle of insecurity, betrayal and self-destruction, loved him as a reforming character, struggling to get in touch with his inner vulnerability. In my humble opinion, this is Colunga best role and out of love for his dedication and hard work, I wanted this vehicle to be flawless to carry him. Things turned out to be the other way around, Colunga's Eladio carried this novela from beginning to end. We can discuss this further after the finale, shall we? #It'sANovelerasDate

-- Nina: You raised an interesting point and it is precisely that dichotomy between seeking her independence and continuing to feed her dependence on the men in her life that drives me up the walls. She says she is sick of the guys' feud over her but she continues to feed that feud she claims she can't stand. Everytime she is annoyed with Eladio, she runs to Arturo. Everytime she feels that Eladio's adoration and attention are waning, she either throws a tantrum or gets the sads! Either fish or cut bait! Or as Delilah rightly said, either sh*t or get off the pot!

-- UA: I agree with your assessment of Erick. The guy is not the sharpest knife in the drawer but he is absolutely vile! Dumb, cocky and dangerous are a lethal combination. The anvils are lining up for Nina, indeed. More anvils that she actually deserves. I do however think that she genuinely loved (loves) Arturo and did her utmost best to be a good wife to him. I feel that, in my humble opinion, if anybody used someone in that marriage, it was the other way around.

-- Tofie: May I please put in a request for one of your great lists of zingy soundbites? If you can take the time to compile one for us this week, I'd be much obliged!

-- Niecie: I too enjoyed Dani's tattle-taling on Chimp Boy! He doesn't deserve any consideration on her part after the way he treated her. I do however disagree with you about Erick being incapable of killing his child. He might not murder him per se, but his recklessness can put the wee tot in harm's way, just like with the kidnapping.

-- JudyB: And here I thought I was learning bunches from you! I can't tell you how grateful I am that I can offer a little back to this community that offered me so much. It throws me back to the many times I immensely enjoyed reading recaps and comments from TNs broadcasted years ago and having no way of thanking the people who wrote them. This is the only way I can express a small measure of gratitude to those recappers and commenters, many of whom are now my Patio Pals!

As for trompuda, I learnt from Jorge Salinas's character in Fuego En La Sangre. (los)encantados (jugar encantados or jugar congelados), on the other hand, I encountered it while recapping Juan Osorio's latest Frankenstein baby, Sueño de Amor. The villain says Congelada / Descongelada to his secretary as a running "joke". It's Juabbly Juan's idea of humor, apparently. #WhenBadNovelasHappenToGoodPeople #EvenDrivelCanTeachUsSpanish #SilverLinings

-- Lily: I'm happy to hear that this recap brightened your day. You brightened mine, along with all the lovely comments our fellow Patio Pals left! You guys rock!

-- Carlos: Glad to hear that you are doing OK and that the path of the floods spared your home. I too have enjoyed this novela immensely. I was so emotionally involved that ever since it ended in Mexico, ando como perro sin dueño (I'm like a dog without an owner), I don't know what to do with myself! I whinge sometimes because I see a lot of unfulfilled potential. The actors are doing such a fantastic job but I can't help feeling that the writers and the producer are short-changing them. For example, turning the last episodes into utter filler is doing the show a disservice. In the same vein, I feel that the character assassination of the young protagonist couple is another thing that diminished my enjoyment as a viewer. We will have time to dissect these things further after the finale.

-- Variopinta: I kid PyP, with love! I should have written a disclaimer: I do throw a few hissy fits here and there, in all my recaps, whatever the show. What can I say, I do enjoy a good whinge, every now and again! But as I confessed to you before, I loved this show so much and was so emotionally involved, it was ridonculous! As for Colunga's Eladio, we'll just have to agree to disagree on this, and you might even laugh at me, but I feel that this is his best role. If, after the finale, you get a chance to check the social media reactions, please do so. This role catapulted Colunga to other dimensions! I will even go as far as claiming that the best novela premio and the success of PyP in a variety of countries (it was Televisa's most internationally marketed product of the recent years) is solely Colunga's doing. This is the best comeback he could've had after that disappointing Osorio crapfest he starred in. I hope Colunga doesn't make us wait another 3 years before his next novela. :)

-- AuntyAnn: I really appreciate that you popped in to leave a comment. You always churn out excellent recaps, week after week, despite your time restraints. I can't tell you how grateful we, your readers, are for your commitment to this Patio.

-- Steve: You are right, the actress playing Clara is a beauty but she has no role to speak of. The WTF Family were created as a vehicle for her but nobody bothered giving them a storyline. They're just there, in the background, meandering in and out of scenes without any purpose or goal. They're privvy to important pieces of information that they only exchange with each other and discuss amongst themselves. They are wasting precious airtime that should be dedicated to finalizing the plot development. However, if there are viewers who enjoy them, then by all means. There is no rule that says that we shall all suffer, ¿verdad? :)

Good night, everyone! Cheers for stopping by! :)

There are chances you'll encounter a bunch of typos and incoherences. And if I forgot anybody, please do forgive me. I'm falling asleep. Finally! Woo hoo! Night night y'all

Delilah63: I hope you're right about Miguel getting a relationship with his stepmother, Purple Lips, who is starting to come around in my eyes.
