El Hotel de los Secretos #56, 4/14/16: Some people are just bad eggs

Oh my cheesus, what an episode! Enjoy the recap patio peeps!

Andres shocks everyone by telling them that he is an Alarcon, the whole scene is awesome with Teresa coming *this close* to fainting, Andres makes his exit after telling everyone to keep their miserable lives, and making it clear he wants nothing from them. Teresa tries to cover everything up by telling the guests that Andres is a disgruntled employee and in order to apologize for the scene he caused she gives all the guests free booze and for those that stay the night a free breakfast in the morning. Then she takes her leave.

Once in her room the doctor tells her that her blood pressure is too low but before he can treat her her beloved (hahahah, no) brother in law comes in and throws it down. It seems that years ago he had a plot to take over the hotel (and sell the land?), Teresa discovered this and told her husband because in her own words she really could not keep a secret so big from her own husband, her hateful BIL comes back with "oh yes, because Romulo never kept any secrets from you"- this guy is an ass and I don't like him at ALL, not because I like Teresa but because this jackass is using Andres's love for Belen to try and steal the hotel. I hope they all get scurvy and die!

Andres:

Poor Andres, the night just keeps getting worse for him when he finds out that Julio and Isabel both knew that he is an Alarcon, he runs to Belen and thanks for being the only one to tell him the truth.Andres does not understand why the Alarcon's who have so much were willing to give him so little. He's not talking about money, he's talking about love, he grew up so alone always wishing he could join the Alarcon children in their games. Belen tells him he is not alone, he has her and their son and they are his family, she tells him she came back because she could not stand being away from him. The two end up in bed.

Jacinto, Violeta, Gabriel:

So this is bad news, due to Jacinto's beat down of Gabriel Doctor. V can't operate on the young man who will now be blind for the rest of his life, Violeta is distraught and begs Gabe for forgiveness. Later, Jacinto makes the mistake of going to the cantina to see Violeta but she wants nothing to do with him, she pulls a knife on him and informs him that he is the reason Gabe will never be able to see again. I don't think Jacinto much cares.

Sofia and the man of god:

Who actually happens to be an impostor end up sleeping together. I have but one question: why would anyone fake being a priest? Like that's just weird. Ooooh wait, side bar: about two months ago in Los Angeles there was a news report about a man who pretended to be a priest, he officiated weddings, baptisms, and funerals, imagine how upset people were when they found out the guy was just a regular joe!

Elisa and her tamales:

Elisa is out sending a letter to try and get her son's marriage annulled, after she's done with that she and her assistant go off in search of tamales. Once they are done they make their way to the clinic where Sofia is staying and she black mails the fake priest by telling him that she knows he's not who he pretends to be and she won't tell anyone as along as he writes a letter saying that Sofia is insane, he agrees to do this..

Teresa and Belen:

Belen finds Teresa and threatens her, she tells her she is there to get her baby and that she will leave Teresa in ruins.

Belen is a witch, not only did she threaten Teresa but she also went out of her way to dis-invite Angela from the wedding and later, she makes Andres would be GF iron her wedding dress. I hate her so much!

Cecilia and Isabel:

Cecilia tells Isabel that she slept with Diego after Teresa asked her too in order to keep him distracted so that he would not find out about Isabel's affair with Julio. Cecilia tells her that she loves Julio and that Isabel made her choice and picked Diego, and that she won't lose the love of her life due to a rich girl's obsession, she leaves Isa with a parting gift: Julio's harmonica. Eli's life tip #10, when your mother arranges for your husband to have an affair you should pack your bags and move, leave no forwarding address.

Teresa, Alfredo, Elisa:

Teresa informs Alfredo that Belen has returned and wants the baby, Alfredo finds his mom, updates her on the situation and a plan is formed.

Belen and Andres: Yeah, so it looks like they get married. Booooo hiiiiiiiiiiisssssss

In other news: Felipe continues with the gang, Ayala and Dagoberto are captured!

Thanks Princess!! Great recap and thank you to all the recappers this week. As I noted on the Pasion board, I was away on business for three days and was stunned to find no Univision on the hotel assortment. I almost always can find that in the mix wherever I go. So I went NUTS for three days reading the recaps and seeing SO MUCH happen (total opposite of Pasion.)

I somewhat cheered reading Belen threatening Diego, but I still can't stomach her since I know all she really wants is the wealth and prestige she thinks she's getting when Andres inherits. I think she is going to be taken for a ride as well, and the brother in law/son is going to and try to swindle them both. (He's acting just too friendly.) Every time she walks around with the haughty attitude, and watching last night's episode when I got home this afternoon, I wanted to take those snapping fingers and...you get my drift.

Don't like CeCe, and really hard to buy she's in love with Julio, but whatever, but am glad she told Isa about the Teresa/Deigo hookup. Of course, lately Isa is like the walking dead...girl, think@!! Do something!!

Sorry, can't remember who noted yesterday that they hope Jacinto is the Gold Knife Killer after what he did to Gabriel. Count me in as well, he's been on my list, but I just want to see him locked away, any kind of anvil.Thinking he still has a chance with Vio, that smug look, just ICK!!!

The whole Sophia thing and the fake priest has taken such a bizarre and mind-numbing turn. Where is this going?

Felippe and "Jorge"-- so cute, and so sad. I expect a reveal soon.

This show is definitely must-see TV. I had withdrawal after three days!

Tk you Princes Juju

Sofia went to Father Fake's room & into HIS bed, he is not a total beast, he asked if she was sure. Besides, he is cute. I just wonder if he has taken advantage of other inmates?

Why would she want him to declare her insane? Could be so she doesn't have to go back to El Gran manicomio.

Elisa knows sth is amiss & will be on the fake priest in no time. I'm wondering if he is one of the revolutionaries?

I feel hate & not so much hate for Belen, she has been through a lot. Diego's abuse, some welcome, her babies snatched from her & one killed. I'm really kind of routing for her, tough cookie. Great Teresa opponent.

Thanks, PrincessJuju!

Great scenes from last night:

MY ABSOLUTE FAVE: Finding out "Jorge" is really a "Manuela" when the guitar playing member of her posse tells her to have a good cry because tomorrow as "Jorge" she won't be able to. Manuela just stands and sobs.

Cecilia telling Isabel how things are and giving her the harmonica as a souvenir.

Belén with her triumphant "scorched earth return" " dis inviting" Angela to the wedding.

This just keeps getting better and better.

I did see someone in bed with Jorge, was it Felipe? I was puzzled by that whole scene.

Sombreros off to the writers, they really keep us guessing, great work

Felipe threw his arm and leg over Jorge/Manuela and then he/she got up.

I'm thinking Elise wants Sophia declared insane, and not able to be cured, to yes, keep her there, since it would be easier to have Alfredo feel he's lost her and she could get HER mitts on the money from the lands easier. I think also, it may open up an opportunity for her to badger Alfredo to divorce Sophia. In Europe it was still hard to immediately divorce a spouse who was declared insane, but you could eventually. I would assume similar in Latin America, though I don't think Elise is the type to worry about religious repercussions. Maybe that's her end game.

Awesome Princess Juju

I had no problem with the exchange between Belen and Teresa and Belen and Angela but belittling Natalia was unnecessary.

Don't like CeCe, thought it weirdly more like a mother than a lover warning Isabel off Julio but, I loved what she said. It was spot on.

Cut them off Violeta, please

Thanks Princess. Great!

Daisynjay: that was me that commented about Jacinto being the GKK. I'm afraid even Lupe's feelings will not keep me from wishing major anvils for J now.

I believe that in some countries during this time period and later, it wasn't just a religious issue regarding divorce/annulment from an insane spouse, it was also a legal issue. In one of my fav shows, one of the characters had been married for years to a woman who was insane. He met and fell in love another woman and attempted to get citizenship in another country that allowed divorce under those circumstances.

Anyone know what TN follows this one?

Nanette

Forgot to mention how much I like the fact that working in the hospital has given Violeta a much needed confidence boost.

I think "Yago" follows PyP but can't find out about this one.

Can't wait for Yago, has to be better than PyP yet

Variopinta: I knew about Yago. I'm going to try it since it's based on The Count of Monte Cristo. But thought I might try the 10:00 one too, if it looks interesting, then choose which one to commit to.

Until fairly recently I believe all Catholic annulments had to go through Rome. Insanity, failure to consummate the marriage, and out and out fraud I think were the only reasons. Unless a marriage were formally annulled, an individual was not permitted to marry again in the Catholic church.

Thanks, Princess!

Sofia being insane also works for Elisa because if Sofia ever tries to tell the truth about "their" child, her claims will be dismissed as lunatic raving.

I think Romulo's brother wanted to get his hands on the hotel so that he could sell (or lease) drilling rights to gringo oilmen. (Or did I dream that? I think it was part of the talk with Mrs L.) If Andres inherits, Rom's bro can buy the property from Andres and then make a fortune with the gringos. I'm just curious if Belen knows about the oil or not. If she does, she'll want a better price for the hotel. If not, she'll probably accept a much lower price for it than she should. (I'm assuming that she's already made a deal with him... and is expecting to manipulate Andres into going along with her plan.)

Thanks for the recap.

On the issue of Elise wanting Sophia to be declared insane. If there was no marriage to begin with, Afredo is free of her and could marry someone else. Elise incorrectly thinks that insanity is grounds for a Church annulment. Insanity is grounds only if the party was insane at the time of the ceremony (exchange of vows) not after. "For better or worse...until death do us part..."
Actually the best grounds for an annulment inSophia case would be Canon #1103. Roughly stated it says if you are forced into a marriage due undue external physical or moral force that the person could not resist, then the person (Sophia) would lack the 'capax' (ability) to enter into the union. Teresa certainly put undue force on Sophia to marry Alfredo so that the family would have money and status.
But getting a priest, rogue or real, to write a letter stating that she is insane won't cut it.

Thanks a lot, Princess Juju!

I don't take Belen at face value - I think she has an alliance with Ologario and intends to betray Andres... Hope I'm wrong.

And what about the new cousin? Is he there just to aggravate Ayala?

Finally, what is going on with Sophia?? That was one of our writers' ugly little surprises.

Gracias, Princess Juju. Good recap of an incredible episode.

While I couldn't take Mimi's voice and her whole act, Belen was a complete bitch for interrupting it. She will be worse for marrying Andres to take advantage of him because she no more loves him than any of us would love a case of anthrax. The way Belen treats other people could be much worse than Teresa if it goes on long enough.

When did Isabel find the duplicate letter, two days ago (in the characters' lives)? Andres blaming her for this is seriously immature. Belen is taking him for a total fool and I think she will betray him. He's a fool to be in love with her when he can do so much better.

Jacinto is a sociopath with or without being the serial killer (whom I somehow picture as being taller). What he did to Gabriel is unforgivable and he has no regrets. If he attacks Violets I hope she offs him in self-defense.
