Pasión y poder, Episode 125, Thursday, April 14, 2016: Dani's LOST! Wait – Dani's FOUND! And Art? Too busy plotting with Humberto to notice.

Agustín and Gabriela do lunch

How can Agustín make Gabriela see THE TRUTH about Franco?  Or at least as much of the truth as he himself is privy to?  He knows about Franco's financial double-dealings, but he hasn't yet learned about the Mouth Breather and child.  (And the chilling contempt Franco feels for his wife?  Is anyone but Gabriela blind to this?)

Gaby continues to make excuses for Franco's heartless behavior.  She knows that he went behind her back to sell her father's shoe factory, all she had left of her late parents.  But he still struggles with daddy issues, poor thing.   Now he has apologized and given her the proceeds of the sale, and she has decided to give him another chance.  After all, he is her husband, and in the end, he was acting on her behalf: the factory was bankrupt.

Agustín looks at Gaby with a mixture of pity and exasperation.  "Ay, Gabriela, maybe you should listen to something else of his," he says, holding up the USB drive Arturo gave him earlier.  "This is a recording of his attempt to blackmail Arturo."  [We know it also captures Franco saying he will sell Gómez Luna secrets to Grupo Montenegro for a price.]

A Surprising Alliance

As the Grupo Montenegro board meeting comes to a close, Miguel tells his father that he will make sure Eladio doesn't use Nina's proposal to harm the company.  [The camera angle widens and we see Nina at the head of the table, looking pleased.  Erick, of course, is scowling.]  Miguel uses the occasion to make another announcement: from now on, he'll be taking an active role in the corporation.  He'll use his power as a share-holder to ensure that his decisions and ideas are taken into account.

"You see, Dad," mutters Erick.  "That's what you get for putting company shares in that one's name and not in mine."  Nina and Arturo stare at one another.  Neither one blinks.

The Desperation Defense (listed just below the Twinkie Defense in the Annals of Dubious Justification)

Much to Agustín's chagrin, Gabriela refuses to listen to the damning evidence on the flash drive.  If Franco did something he shouldn't have, he was acting out of desperation.  He thinks that nothing he does is good enough.  As for his attempt to blackmail Arturo, she didn't mention it to him because then he'd know that she and Agustín had discussed it.

Agustín doesn't press the point.  "I told you I'd do whatever you asked of me.  Just promise me you won't trust him blindly."  Gabriela nods.  "Okay."

Father Knows Best

The notario produces a receipt (comprobante) with which Franco will be able to pick up his revised birth certificate.  Franco grins.  "I have to put your name – I mean my name – on everything: my passport, my credit cards, my IDs...

Eladio is rather more restrained.  He's glad that Franco is happy, but he reminds him that it's the family, rather than the apellido, that really matters. (lo importante no es el apellido sino la familia).  "I know," says Franco quickly, though he knows nothing of the kind.  "And now that I'm a Gómez Luna, a lot of people are going to be sorry they put me down."

Eladio tries again.  "You're off on the wrong foot.  You don't want to show anyone you're superior because of a name."

Caridad has been hovering.  Now she approaches Franco and tells him that his father is right.  She is, however, sure that Franco is going to be a great man.  [Because she is a moron.]  In fact, he already is.  And she's ready to celebrate.  Franco takes a rain check.  He has an appointment.  Business.  [We can only imagine what kind and with whom.]

Caridad hugs her boy.  Te amo, she simpers. Eladio shakes his hand.  Papá, tú sí eres un gran hombre, says his son.  ("You really are a great man.") He is rewarded with one of those man-hug/back-pats.   Finally Franco departs, waving his precious paper in the air.

Eladio is left alone with Caridad, who tells him he should feel proud because he did the right thing.  Understandably, Eladio excuses himself with an icy Con permiso.

Like a good Boy Scout, Jorge is prepared

Up in Monterrey, Turtle Boy has identified the problem (a malfunctioning pump).  He's got another one in his truck, he tells Yemelé and Regina.  He'll just change it and all will be well.

Let me make this perfectly clear...

The GM meeting is over.  Nina thanks Miguel for supporting her.  He'll do so, he says, as long as she is looking out for the company's interests.  "That's the idea," Nina replies.  "I assure you that Eladio isn't going to do anything against us."

"Even so, we still have to consider him the competition."

"Of course – especially now because he hates your father more than ever for taking Julia away."

Miguel wants to leave the personal issues out of it and just focus on business.  Nina agrees.  And she wants to make one thing clear: she still disapproves of Miguel's relationship with Consuelo and his desire to be close to her grandson.

Another Journalistic Low in Mexico

Back in his office, Arturo tells Agustín of Miguel's open and decisive support of Nina's proposal.   Agustín says he would have done the same thing – it's a very good idea.

Now he tells Arturo how he struck out with Gaby, who refuses to listen to the recording and insists on justifying everything Franco has done.  Sooner or later, that marriage has to end because Franco isn't going to change.   Agustín hopes it's sooner rather than later.  Arturo says it's worth the wait.  Look at him and Julia.

By the way, he found something interesting online. "Take a look at this!" he says, holding up his phone.

Agustín chuckles at the image on the screen: It's a newspaper with a banner headline SCREAMING about Julia Vallado's discovery of Goméz Luna's deceit, her subsequent divorce and her current romance with the recently divorced Arturo Montenegro.  Beneath it, we see a picture of Julia and Arturo gazing into each other's eyes – the one taken last night by that sneaky photographer at the restaurant (right after Humberto made his mysterious phone call).

Did Arturo have this thing published?  Para nada, says Arturo.  "But I hope Eladio sees it and gets so mad he drops dead."

In his office at GLA, Eladio does indeed see the very same headline and photo as he pages through the weekly press clippings that Caridad has so thoughtfully provided.  Gah! He pulls a face, balls up the paper and throws it away.

I AM NOT AN OBJECT!

Julia sees the thing too.  She's with Gaby in the Gómez Luna mansion.  "What poor taste!" she exclaims.  Gaby marvels that her aunt is still concerned about Eladio's feelings.  Julia claims she is not (me da lo mismo).  She knows why Eladio tried to manipulate her with the wedding ring thing [Though we know that Eladio was speaking from the heart and that it is Arturo the Putz who is doing the manipulating!  Ay ay ay!]

"Why?" asks Gaby, playing along, perhaps glad to watch someone else jumping to false conclusions and making bad decisions for a change.

"Because he's trying to get close to me to he can keep treating me like an object – one the two of them have been fighting over all their lives.  And I'm fed up!  I won't allow it!  Even though I still love him, I'm going to live my life on my own.  I won't let anyone treat me that way."

Speaking of Manipulation and Objectification...

When Agustín leaves Arturo's office, Arturo
takes a call from Humberto, who cackles about the "gift" he sent him.  Art thanks him.  He assumed the news story was just a stroke of luck.  He's ready to celebrate whenever Arturo gives the word (though not, of course, right now).

Pinching Pesos and Clipping Coupons in the Mansion

Julia sits at what was only recently Eladio's desk and shares with Gaby what she has learned in therapy.  She knows herself a little better.  Now she wants to learn how to manage her own life.  It feels good to be independent, to be working.  She hasn't touched the shares in Eladio's business, nor does she intend to do so.

Gaby points out that she's hard up for money (te las estás viendo negras con el dinero; verselas negras: to find oneself in trouble) at the moment now that she's not selling GLA houses.  "If that's the price I have to pay for my freedom," replies Julia, "I'll gladly accept it."  She doesn't mind cutting costs around the house or changing her lifestyle as long as she feels good about herself.

"I just hope you aren't going from financial dependency on my uncle to financial dependency on Arturo," says Gaby with unwonted shrewdness.

"What are you saying?  Of course not!  That would be taking two steps backward – and I don't want that ever."

DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM????

Erick tries to bully his way past the front desk at the Rehab Center.  Then he spots Daniela walking down the hall and calls out to her.  She runs toward him happily and begs for a few minutes with her brother.  Once permission is granted, the siblings hug.  He positively gushes over her. Oh how he misses her.  She tells him it's horrible being there.

"If this place seems so horrible to you," he says, "you should leave.  I'll help you."

Apparently Yemilé means "metiche" in Nahuatl

It turns out the mechanical problems earlier (the bad tank, the broken pump) weren't Jorge's fault.  David tells Yemilé he feels bad for acting like a jerk.  She understands he's just jealous.  Why not try to patch things up with Regina?  "I think you make a great professional team – and a beautiful couple."

The Hidden Agenda is Revealed, and Erick Alienates Another Ally

Dani remarks that Erick is the only one who has suggested she leave rehab.  But if she does that, she's going to disappoint David.  "You should tell that fool to go to hell!" he says heatedly.  Dani's mouth starts to quiver.  He blunders on: "Besides, they can't keep you here against your will!"

The nurse notices that things are heating up and intervenes.  Dani is clearly upset now.  She asks Erick to leave, saying she doesn't want to get in trouble and have her visits even more restricted.  Erick mutters about his sister being brainwashed.  Okay, okay, he's going... but there's an important favor he needs to ask of her first:

"I need you to tell my mother that I should be the one managing your shares in the company."

Daniela protests that her mother is managing them very well.  Erick says she's wrong: Nina is acting against the interests of the company and their own interests as well.   That's why it was so important for him to see her.

Now Erick has really drawn blood.  "So you only came here because of that?" his sister asks, so upset she can barely choke out the words.

Of course that wasn't Erick's only reason: she is his favorite sister.  But sure, he also wanted to ask her about the shares.

"Please leave."

"Think about it."  Erick watches his sister walk away.  "I'll help you, Dani."

Franco Shows up for his AppointmentHis Business Appointment.

Marintia greets Franco joyfully.  Eladio has finally recognized him as a Gómez Luna.  But Franco sneers that the gesture comes too late.  It should have been done when he was born.  Who knows why Eladio is doing it now, but he never loved him like a son.  Well now Franco's plan is to take EVERYTHING from him.

Marintia tries to tell him there's no longer any need to do that.  "You're a Gómez Luna now!"

"You don't understand.  Having his name is only going to make it easier for me to get my revenge."

But Mama thinks Franco has had a rencor-ectomy*

[*Don't worry.  It's not a real word.  I made it up.]

A fatuous smile plastered on her face, Caridad assures Gaby that Franco Gómez Luna Herrera is going to forget all about his resentment towards Eladio now.  Gaby smiles back.  Así va a ser.  There's no reason for Franco to feel bad about himself.

Love means never having to say you're sorry.

"I know you really love my son," Caridad tells Gaby, "because true love forgives everything."  (El amor verdadero disculpa todo.)

"Providing the other person has the will to change what he's done wrong," says Gaby, adding that if Franco deceives her again in any way, she won't forgive him.

Megalomania 101

Franco explains to Marintia that he doesn't want to be another heir – he wants to be the only heir.  He wants it all.  And he wants to humiliate and destroy Eladio completely as payback for his sufferings.

He admits that his scheme with Marcos hasn't gotten very far because he had to pay off Humberto and Gaby.  What he needs to do now is put pressure on Marcos to commit large-scale fraud.

Why some of us adore Miguel and want to see him happily-ever-after with Consuelo and the kid

At Consuelo's apartment, Miguel explains that he supported Nina's proposal on its merits.  He's not going to try to use his support to win her over to their side in the custody battle.  In fact, such an effort might be counterproductive.   He spoke up in the meeting because someone in GM needs to stay objective – and that someone sure ain't Julia-besotted Arturo.

Is Nina wising up?  Or does Erick still know how to push her buttons?

Erick is due home any moment now.  Nina asks Petra to keep an eye on the baby because she is going to the rehab center to leave a note for Dani.  (She agrees to include greetings from Petra, who is concerned about the señorita.)

Before Nina is out the door, Erick enters and proceeds to badger her about Miguel.

"Since when is he on your side?  He just wants to win you over so you support his relationship with MY WIFE."

Nina corrects him sharply: "Your EX-wife, the one you never valued.  And don't get the two issues confused, because Miguel sure isn't."

Erick is certain that Miguel is doing precisely that – he is looking out for his own interest.  "Don't forget that he's holding shares that should have gone to you in the divorce settlement."

How do you Solve a Problem like Julia?  (Or How to Turn a Working Woman into a Kept Woman)

At the Gómez Luna mansion, Arturo admits to Humberto that even though he admires Julia's initiative, if it were up to him, she wouldn't be working at all. Humberto proposes a solution to Julia's money worries and that pesky pride of hers:  since she won't accept Arturo's money and won't stop working as long as she needs to support herself (and him), why not give Humberto himself a monthly stipend?  He'll give it to Julia and tell her it's from his winnings in Las Vegas.

¡Se escapó!

In Monterrey, Regina gets a frantic call from Nina.  Daniela has run away from the rehab center and nobody knows where she is.   Regina will ask David if he's heard from her.

Arturo puts his cards on the table too.

Now that Humberto has opened, Arturo will follow suit.  What he wants is to keep Julia from seeing Eladio.  Humberto has to convince her to sell her Gómez Luna shares – which Eladio only gave her in order to tie her to him – so she'll have no excuse to talk to her ex.  The old knave understands immediately:  "And you're going to buy them!  Heh heh heh heh heh."

Let's hear it for borderlines – Even when they're absent, they grab center stage

In Monterrey, Regina catches up to David and tells him that Daniela has run away from rehab.  What did she say when he spoke to her on the phone?

Just a little something to sweeten the deal

Humberto is going to need a little incentive (estímulo) to do what Arturo is asking... say enough for him to do a little betting with friends.  Arturo is reluctant ("I think that's going to cause you problems.")  Humberto starts to whine.  (Please, Arturo, I need to gamble!  Please understand.)

Now Julia comes home and greets her father and Arturo cheerfully.  We see that Arturo gets a call from Nina, which he ignores.  [In fact he turns the phone off.]  Then he invites Julia to join the two men for a quick bite.  Julia smiles.  She looks as if she could be persuaded.

Answer, Arturo!

Nina is at the rehab center.  Understandably, she looks distraught.  And Arturo – the putz – won't take her call. At last she leaves a message: "Dani ran away from the clinic. I'm very worried about what she might do."

The Worm Turns

At the office, Franco tells Marcos that his latest efforts at defrauding GLA are insufficient.  Yes, the work is perfect, but the sum is not large enough.  Marcos must take MUCH MORE MONEY out of the company accounts.  The little man says that he can't – el señor Gómez Luna would certainly notice it.  Franco grabs him and hisses in his face, demanding unquestioning obedience.  Can he do it or not?

"No," answers Marcos.  "I'm not going to take that risk."

Having taken a stand, he walks out the glass door and away from his tormentor.  Franco slaps his desk hard enough to hurt his hand.

A Crack Appears in Turtle Boy's Shell of Serene Indifference

A long-distance bus passes by outside the Fiesta Americana in Monterrey.  Inside the hotel, Regina looks on as David calls GLA asking for Daniela.  Caridad says she hasn't seen her.  Regina starts to panic, fearing that Dani is back on drugs.  David tries to calm her down.  He spoke to Daniela only last night and she didn't sound so bad.  She's tired and she's fed up with everything she's been through, but he doesn't think she'd do that.  He agrees they need to head back to Mexico after they let Yemelé know what is going on.

Before you know it, Regina is weeping in David's arms and he is murmuring soothing words in her ear as he presses his face against her exposed shoulder and strokes her bare back.  The Turtle Boy sees them together.  His eyes narrow.  He calls her name.  She breaks away from David and leaves with Jorge to look for Yemelé.  As Jorge walks away, he shoots David a dirty look.

And speaking of cracks, is that a fault line in Petra's tough shell?

Petra is beside herself with worry over Daniela.  Obdulio tells her to have faith.  And if she loses hers, well, he has enough for both of them.   She and Obdulio weep in one another's arms, she for Dani and he because he can't bear to see her so sad.

She breaks off the embrace and sends him off to the kitchen to check on the cake in the oven.  She admits to herself that she has resisted him before... but he's a very good man.   What is she going to do?

Let ME be your career, Sweet Cheeks.

When Julia tells her father and Arturo that she needs to leave to show an apartment, Humberto immediately pipes up that she shouldn't be working.  Then Arturo asks smilingly if she has considered a different job.  For example she could devote more time to him (por ejemplo, dedicarle más tiempo a mí).  Everyone chuckles.

Julia, however, is quick to point out that she likes her work very much.  In fact, she loves what she's doing.

"Think about it," Arturo urges.  "You'd have more time to spend with your father and with me."

Julia explains that earning her own money is satisfying.  It makes her feel good about herself.

Humberto ignores what she is really saying (as he has done for the last 40 odd years) and reminds her that she can sell her Gómez Luna shares and have lots of money.

"No, dad, forget it."

"It's the least you can do!" Humberto sputters.

But Julia is adamant.  "I'm not going to sell them or even touch them.  I'm not going to accept anything of Eladio's."

Humberto tries another strategy:  "I think you'd rest easier with that money."

"I'm just fine (tranquila) knowing I don't owe anything to anyone.  And now I have to go."

She stands and so does Arturo.  They exchange a quick peck on the lips and then she leaves.

Consoling Regina is My Job, College Boy!

Regina calls Nina to tell her that she and David are returning to Mexico.  She then asks Jorge to look for Yemelé in the bar while she checks the office.

When Regina walks away, Jorge approaches David and warns him not to 'comfort' Regina as he did a moment ago.  Now he, Turtle Boy, is the one whose job it is to console her.  Isn't David with her sister?

"You don't understand anything!" says David dismissively.  But the Turtle sees the obvious: that David is still in love with Regina.

The Prodigal Daughter Returns – and gets an earful

While the two are bickering, Daniela herself appears, quietly wheeling her suitcase along.  She slips out of sight and listens:

"You say there's nothing between you and that you're with her sister," says Jorge, "but I saw how you hugged her just now.  What you're doing is very wrong."

David drops the pretense and shouts:  "And if I love her, so what?"

"I'm very sorry, but that love won't do you any good."

"Don't you think I know that, Jorge?  My God, at least I'm trying to find happiness with Daniela.  What you should be worried about is that Regina still loves me.  She's only with you to try to forget me.  And listen carefully:  TO TRY to forget me."

[Daniela sighs.  Nothing she hears is news to her, but the words still hurt.]

"That's what you think," harrumphs the little Turtle.  "But I'm the one she's with."

Jorge ends the encounter before it can get uglier.  He starts to walk away, but he is close enough to see Daniela approach David, cover his eyes and call out "Surprise!"

David is obviously relieved to see her.  He gives her a hug and tells her everyone is out looking for her.  He's the only one she wants finding her, she says.  They kiss.

Jorge shakes his head.

Once again, Eladio steps up when Arturo fails to do so.

Nina, having despaired of reaching Daniela's father, shows up in Eladio's office to tell him that her daughter has disappeared.  Eladio springs into action.  He'll call his contacts: they'll find her!

Random Clara Scene

Clara shows up at the Montenegro mansion to talk to Obdulio about catering her wedding.  [No, seriously.]

Happy

Back in Monterrey, Jorge tells Regina and Yemelé that nobody has to leave because he just saw Daniela with David.  "How does she look?  Does she seem okay?" asks Regina.  "She looks happy," Jorge tells her.  "Happy?" echoes Regina, whose worry has quickly turned to anger.  "And everyone else is going crazy with worry?"  Then she calls her mother with the news.

Hungry

Petra, who is now acting crazy jealous, tells Obdulio – who is in the kitchen putting the finishing touches on a splendid chocolate cake –  that Clara has arrived to talk about her wedding dinner. The recapper realizes she is getting hungry and hurries to finish telling the story.

Worried

Nina is still upset though she's glad that Dani went looking for David – she was so terrified she'd start using again.  Now she needs to talk to her, hear her voice and know that she's okay.  Eladio, who has been saying all the right things to reassure her, now picks up his phone.

Sullen

David scolds Dani for making Regina and Nina suffer.  Dani says they don't care about her.  After all, they locked her up to get rid of her.  David says that's not so.  Right now, the important thing is for her to learn to live without drugs.  She insists that she is doing so.  For him.  And she doesn't need to be in a clinic for that.

David tries to set her straight: "You can't do it for me or for anyone else.  You have to do it for yourself."  Has she talked to her mother yet?

Dani admits sulkily that she has not because her mother will want her to go back and she doesn't want to go.

David's phone rings.  It's Nina, calling from Eladio's office.  Over Dani's protests, he hands her the phone.  "Hello.  Yes, mom, everything's fine... no ..."

Forget those fools for now.

Meanwhile, David picks up a hotel phone and calls Regina.  He is told she isn't in.

A moment later, we see her take David's call on her cell phone. Jorge stays close to her side, sort of like a human barnacle.  He has already told Regina about Daniela.

"Take good care of her, David," Regina says.  [And even though David has been kind of a jerk, it's hard not to feel a little sorry for him at this moment for the burden he has blundered into assuming.]  She then confides to Jorge that she is very disappointed in her sister and fearful she will relapse.  Jorge assures Regina that all will be fine.  She flashes him one of her joyless, brainless grins.  Then she asks him if David said anything more to him.  "No..." he lies.  "Why don't we forget about them?"

Independent and Proud of it

Julia tells her therapist that she has finally sold an apartment.  It's not a lot of money, considering her expenses, but these small accomplishments make her feel good about herself – and they're good for her pocketbook too.

"You haven't considered leaving your job?  You do have stock in the company plus the alimony you're getting from Eladio..."

"I'm not getting alimony.  As for the stock, I don't plan to touch that money.  I reconsidered and returned to the foundation.   And I don't care if I have to break my back."

"Congratulations, Julia!"

Lucky?

When Jorge takes Regina back to her hotel room, she asks him to stay.  "Are you sure?"  She looks anything but sure, but indicates that she is.  She looks right at him and seems to be making an effort to keep her most recent meal from repeating on her.  They kiss.

[Please, writers.  Set off a fire alarm or something, but don't make us watch what may happen next.]

So do we think it was Erick who helped Daniela run away?

Did Erick manage to turn Nina against Miguel by reminding her of how Miguel acquired all those shares?

Will Mauricio have to watch Regina and Turtle Boy mating?

And what the heck did Julia tell her therapist? Has she given her fortune to the foundation?

Good stuff, NovelaMaven.

Why did they even let Ape Child visit Daniela? There should have been a long conversation between the clinic staff and her parents to establish who is allowed to visit her and when. So it looks like Erick has done something that could ultimately lead to his sister's doom. I understand why all of you want a dead simian at the end of this tale.

It wasn't a video but the point is moot; Gabriela won't even listen. How many directions can we roll our eyes in?

Max Bialystock jumps on Leo Bloom for an even bigger fraud.... we know where the original ended up.

Julia gave the shares to the foundation? How will that play in the pending fraud?

"These and more questions to be answered tomorrow in As the Stomach Turns."

Thanks a BIG bunch NovelaMAven Another one of your clever, entertaining masterworks.

I might add my own twist to one scene. The TN Pixie Dust strikes again. One moment Dani is under supervision in insane asylum clothes, the next she is a continent away, with perfect hair, makeup and clothing. Did she borrow it all from the FAs on her flight over/ Nooope Pixie Dust I believe.

She didn't W A L K !

Thank you for your wonderful recap NovelaMaven. So happy you delineated Gaby's delusion. It's tiresome listening to her constantly state how she will not tolerate Franco having a child with another woman when he consistently disrespects her. As Kirbo and other noted yesterday, her lack of awareness regarding her spouse (disguised as her love for him) makes it seem that she has had a lobotomy. And your other Gaby gem: "Why?" asks Gaby, playing along, perhaps glad to watch someone else jumping to false conclusions and making bad decisions for a change." As Sara would say, squee!!

More Caridad mockery - "She is, however, sure that Franco is going to be a great man. [Because she is a moron.]" Excellent!

You proposed good questions. I'll answer them more according to my dislike of Erick - yes he did help Dani run away but won't be able to make Nina turn against Miguel. I'm hoping that our poor Mauricio won't have to use brain bleach because he's been subjected to Regina and Turtle Boy congress. Not sure about what Julia told her therapist.

Also thanks Auntie Ann for your great recap.

Thank you NovelaMaven. Great recap.

Will Mauricio have to watch Regina and Turtle Boy mating?

Oh I hope not. But I'm mentally preparing myself just in case. Good that at least the writers are giving us a warning.

And what the heck did Julia tell her therapist? Has she given her fortune to the foundation?

I was confused by that scene too. I assumed that what she meant was that she decided to return to working at the foundation. I don't think she gave her shares to the foundation since she said that she didn't want to touch them. I could be wrong though.

It was cute watching scardey cat Marcos stand up for himself. Good for him. But will it last?

Oh Arturo. You are going to regret ignoring Nina's calls and turning off your phone!

Thanks so much, Urban, Kirbo and Karen. It's fun to see you here in the insomniacs' circle (or maybe for some, the west coast gang).

I took a look at the transcript of the episode on the Univision website. According to that (and to my ears), Julia says "regresé a la fundación" (I went back to the foundation) rather than "I returned it/the money to the foundation." If we can't figure it out with certainty today, I'm sure tomorrow's show will make it very clear.

And yes, I too hope Mauricio won't have to use brain bleach. Hee hee.

Ah Mauricio, our comments crossed. I think that's right – Julia (not her money) returned to the foundation. Thanks so much!

Urban, I hope you see this. I don't want to mislead you.

On Caridud: Oh jeez what a trainwreck. She actually should have spent a lifetime in jail for stopping whoever the Einstein was who planned on killing Francofurterito.

Novelamaven, I am happy to have your hoppy review of this soppy tale. I could not keep my eyes open last night, so I went to bed at 9.00. I had planned to watch Project Runway and surf in and out of this tragedy. i was probably better off getting the extra Zzzzzzs.

Saw it, NovelaMaven; thanks.

Well, if Julia actually has the controlling or even the largest interest of GLA (implied but not explicitly stated) then Franco will not have an easy time of it. If Arturo buys it (or tries to) that might be how Franco is stopped. Neither Arturo nor Augustin know about Franco's scheme but this would be an interesting way for the discovery to happen.

Several of us predicted a while back that the two companies will have mingled interests at the end or could be merged. Arturo and/or Augustin currently owns some small percentage of GLA and Nina was going to sell a small percentage of GM to Eladio, so that is already under way.

Erick will have to be found out as Daniela's accomplice. His arrogance was always obnox, but now it's intolerable. Daniela was the first to tell Nina she would not trust Erick with her money, so he isn't going to get what he wants.

Marcos is either going to cut and run or off himself from the stress.

Sheezo Peezo the sniveling little accountant better kill Frankenstein (thanks UA) before it is too late. Can anyone even see him swatting a mosquito? If he offs himself UA, maybe he will leave a suicide note? If he is going to be already dead, he need not fear Frnbkebstein if he rats him out, right?

I have wondered all along if Eladio, as sharp as he is, does not have monitoring in his financial infrastructure to alert him to unusual activity. Most do.

I have trouble believing that Frankenfurter and Marksy have the cerebral horsepower (combined, even) to outsmart Eladio. (and everyone else)

I believe that even less than I believe Dani escaped and turned up instantly an Airplane flight later photo shoot ready to surprise David who has no brain.

Hoppy Friday everyone

NovelaMaven, this was glorious. And inspired.

"The Desperation Defense (listed just below the Twinkie Defense in the Annals of Dubious Justification)", "She is, however, sure that Franco is going to be a great man. [Because she is a moron.", " unwonted shrewdness" were amazing but your newly coined "rencor-ectomy" was my favorite.

I think Erick did help Dani escape. I don't think Erick turned Nina against Miguel (I did expect her remarks about her grandson though - at least she tolerates Miguel now rather than despising him). I think Regina won't go through with her less than romantic rendezvous with Jorge. Therefore, Mauricio (and we) will be spared. :)

I should view David and Regina's torment more kindly but their outright stupidity in how they've handled everything is making it difficult. I did feel for the pale Dani when she appeared. As others have said, I don't know how David and Regina will reunite as that would crush Dani's all too delicate and confused mental state.

Humberto alone was responsible for the pictures. Arturo did not mind, did he? Arturo has finally gotten what he wanted - Julia. While the future of two of his children hang fragilely in the balance, his attention and focus has once again waivered from where it should be.

I was sad Gaby would not view the blackmail attempt. I view her rather kindly - she wants to believe her husband and while she has accepted far too much, she is in for a world of hurt. A thief, liar, cheater. She will be the most devastated one before this ends. I was impressed Augustin immediately backed off but what a lovely consolation prize he will be.

I admit I’ve come to like Jorge. Rather than just throw him a bone, let’s get him together with the talented, lovely Yemilé. What do you think?

Good morning Karen! “I'm hoping that our poor Mauricio won't have to use brain bleach because he's been subjected to Regina and Turtle Boy congress” has truly brightened my day.

NovelaMaven, you always delight!

Happy Friday all!

Diana

Normally, Eladio would be sharp as a tack about this but he is distracted by the divorce and other things going on including Nina, Daniela, getting a new shrink, and his recent realization that David should be with Regina rather than Daniela.

The thing with Francostein and his Igor is that their timing is good here. Eladio is distracted, there is no other accountant watching out for him, and they will get a little farther before they're caught. Since Igor was intelligent enough to create fraudulent documents about the factory, he might be just smart enough to do the same for GLA if he's already done so and kept updating them.

The rehab center isn't impossible to escape from with the help of an accomplice. If Nina was smart she would have confiscated Daniela's financial instruments and Erick would be just smart enough to find them before helping her bust out of there. He would have the combination to the safe in the house; Nina or Arturo should have changed the combination ages ago when Erick tried to sell out GM.

"She looks right at him and seems to be making an effort to keep her most recent meal from repeating on her."

Oh Lord, what a way to picture that scene! Sure hope your wish for a fire alarm or some such impediment to brain bleach coupling will ensue.

Lots of gems in this. I'll just mention a few:

Humberto ignores what she is really saying (as he has done for the last 40 odd years.)

Random Clara Scene Clara shows up at the Montenegro mansion to talk to Obdulio about catering her wedding [no, seriously]

Wow, talk about Product Placement. Being the director's girlfriend really pays off.

Always enjoy your headings and asides:

Augustin and Gaby do lunch
Twinkies defense (and let's not forget the infamous Affluenza Defense!)

Caridad defending Franco [because she is a moron]

And appreciate clever transitions because they are the toughest part of writing a recap of constantly changing scenes...

mentioning the cracks in Jorge's turtle shell and then possible cracks in Petra's hard shell was truly nifty.

Well, the writers are definitely ramping up the tension. If I had fingernails I'd be biting them.

Thanks as always, NovelaMaven. You are truly a gifted pro at what you do. Except you don't get paid for this...so let's just say you are a truly gifted and generous amateur who writes like a pro. And should be paid!

Oh and thanks for the "verselas negras" explanation. That is a phrase I'm not familiar with.

Yes, I think we can all see greatness in Franky. I'll take one "icy con permiso" to go , please.

Happy, hoppy Friday to you all. I need coffee.

You done it again NovelaMaven, stellar.

"Let ME be your career, Sweet Cheeks"

It's easy to play independent when you have a golden parachute.

Atta boy Jorge, from ultrastellar orbit to the big bang

Somebody needs to tell Gaby about Franco but it ain't the dude that is trying his damnedest to bust up her marriage.

I would sue that clinic and find Dani another or hire Nurse Ratched.

tofie, I love your idea about hiring Nurse Ratched. Hummy needs a Nurse Ratched too!

JudyB, comments like yours are all the compensation I could ask for. When I see your name here, I always feel a little thrill of anticipation – I'm a student again getting a paper back from a treasured professor with a gift for precision and kindness, a vanishingly rare combination. Is it too presumptuous of me to thank you on behalf of all of us who send our term papers to you for review?

Oh, "vérselas negras" was new to me too – obvious in context, sure, but always reassuring when our friend WordReference is able to verify the obvious (which sometimes turns out not to be so obvious).

I'm not sure I deserve any credit for transitions. That's one area in which TN writers usually shine so connections are there for the plucking. (That's why it's so tedious watching and writing about cut-and-paste episodes from which the transitions have been removed willy nilly.)

Gosh, Diana. Thanks so much for your kind words. I see you agree with Karen about Erick and Miguel and you share our hopes that if Regina and the Turtle do mate, they do so offscreen.

"Arturo did not mind (the news story and photos), did he?" No, he didn't. And I have to say, Agustín thought the whole thing was pretty funny too. At that moment, he and his bestie Arturo seemed like frat boys enjoying the outcome of a diabolical practical joke.

Susanlynn, as always, you manage to crack me up"

"Yes, I think we can all see greatness in Franky. I'll take one "icy con permiso" to go , please."

tofie, ooh, thank you!

"Somebody needs to tell Gaby about Franco but it ain't the dude that is trying his damnedest to bust up her marriage."

Yes, that's precisely Agustín's dilemma!

Hahahahaha. It WOULD be satisfying to see Nurse Ratched take some of these characters in hand (and yes, Mauricio, Humberto would be candidate número uno for some tough TLC).

Somebody needs to tell Gaby about Franco but it ain't the dude that is trying his damnedest to bust up her marriage.

I would sue that clinic and find Dani another or hire Nurse Ratched.

Considering how dumb Gabriela now is, I don't think she can see that Augustin is trying to do that.

Knowing Nurse Ratched, I'm sure she found a way to clone herself at least twice. So there can be one for Humberto as well (thinking of the Star Trek episode with "Stella 500").

Dear Novelamaven, If I can give you an occasional grin, I am verra happy.

I keep forgetting to tell you how much I enjoy your subtitles. "Shell of serene indifference" tickled me . You know how tonpaint a word picture.

Art is sliding down a slippery slope in his obsession for Julia. I was trying to think of any males I know in real or reel life who have obsessed over a woman. None comes to mind.

And Humberto...I cannot even with this old coot. Can you imagine having a dad like him? Most people drifting into those final twilight years do some soul-searching and evaluating of their lives and perhaps try to make amends before they go to that big casino in the sky. Hummy??..not so much..still wheeling and dealing for himself and some cash to gamble away. Basta with this guy.

Haha..I have to agree with tofie about "Let me be your career, Sweet Cheeks." Art is a piece of work.

I can't even, huh? The new Pain and Pretending catch phrase.
I'll have to learn to use it.

"You'd have more time to spend with your father and me".. Yikes..That statement would make my sign up for overttime and maybe some moonlighting .

Question : If you had a child going through some crisis, would you ever turn off your cellphone?

Susanlynn, I don't think Humberto has a soul to search. We know he is a totally selfish emotional vampire because he abused his wife and daughters. We saw him trying to suck the life out of Julia and even saw him abuse Gabriela in the beginning. I'm sure he was also clever enough to conceal this from the rest of the world. Arturo probably only caught a first-hand glimpse of it years ago and only Eladio really knew the whole story. Whether he saw it before or only after the marriage I'm not sure.

As to Arturo wanting to take care of Julia, I don't think he's really looking to lock her up despite him not wanting her to have further contact with Eladio. He may just be doing what he knew of his parents' relationship because he can afford to. Also, he would know that real estate operates on odd hours that don't match his office hours. If she were working in a 9-5 job (like the foundation) I doubt that would bother him very much.

Oops; missed your new posts.

If Julia were making more money at this point would she really have Humberto in the mansion with her? I'm surprised she isn't getting his misogynistic vibes at such close quarters.

As to Arturo turning off his cell phone, I think he was trying to avoid ugliness with Nina over the news article. He may be naively under the impression that the rehab center watches Daniela on CCTV or something. Erick is so selfish it may never have occurred to Arturo that he would go there to break Little Drama Queen out of it.

It's also -- as Eladio would say -- all about the timing.

UA..good point about Hum lacking a soul.

Novelamaven, I also enjoyed your subtitles consisting of just one adjective..Sullen, Worried, Happy, etc. If you run out , don't forget the rest of the seven dwarves in addition to Happy....Doc, Sleepy, Grumpy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey.

Has Frankfurter ever heard of an audit ? I know that Cookie is familiar with that term.

Wonderful recap NovelaMaven!!

Oh Urban agree about Gaby and the eye rolls when she turned down Augie's usb. I wanted to throttle her.

Diana, agree about Jorge. His only crime was falling for Regina and believing he could win her over. I would like to see him find someone.

Art seems to be descending lower and lower each day. Is there anyone still at his table?

If Dani had been wearing that hideous track suit she entered rehab in then I would have given Erick a pass but since she had on a nice dress I guess Erick did help. But then maybe her mom had brought her some clothes to wear while in rehab and the dress was one of them. With or without Erick's help he is the one that pushed her out.

I just want to smack Caridad every time she tells Gaby to forgive Franco or makes excuses for him to her.

So both Julia and Nina are kept wives no more. I like seeing each find strength in work and being independent.

Thank you for delighting us with yet another exquisite recap, NovelaMaven! I savored every little crumb! Regarding your query about Julia's convo with her shrink, she said she will return to work at the foundation even if she has to split herself in two. She is not donating her shares to the foundation.

I finished the show last Sunday and since then, ando como perro sin dueño (I'm like a dog without an owner), I don't know what to do with my life! So I'm re-watching últimos capítulos with you, reading the recaps and comments, ranting in general terms and telling you lame jokes until it's time to dissect the Gran Final with my Patio Pals. How exciting! (N.B. Do not look up PyP anything on Youtube! The site is rife with spoiler clips!)

Yesterday, I dissed Arturo and today it's the turn of our "galán juvenil". There are times where I feel that I dislike David even more than I do Arturo. They both think they're all that, acting all high and mighty on their high horse of moral superiority and self-righteous indignation. David is even worse in this respect, considering he's a sanctimonious sisterfudger masquerading as a martyr of love! "Yes, I am in love with Regina! And now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll go screw her sister who has just magically teleported from Mexico City to Monterrey! Toodles!" What a nauseating diphead!

Jorge is so delusional I don't know whether to feel sorry for him or hit him over the head with that defective boiler pump. One thing is for sure: I really really REALLY need him to button up that shirt! Hey buddy, I'm not interested in seeing your bony teenage boobage! Nobody is. Not even your reluctant hamster lady love.

One "good guy" who is scoring a bucketful of brownie points with me is Miguel. I like his newfound confidence and I appreciate his work ethics. His instructing Nina to separate personal matters from business was just excellent! *pulling up a chair in the Miguel Table*

And since we are on the topic of decency, honesty and work ethics, at the opposite end of the spectrum stands the poster boy for ingratitude, betrayal and self-entitlement, Franco Herrera soon to be Gómez Luna. What is this mocoso berrinchudo crying about? This snot-nosed brat is throwing tantrums because he suffered growing up in a mansion, receiving the best care and the best education and job opportunities instead of living in squalor with his drunken grandma (who I miss immensely!)? That's his suffering? "I am not a Gómez Luna! Waaa-waaa! Must seek revenge! I AM a Gómez Luna! Waaa-waaa! Must seek revenge!" Perhaps Gabi the gullible galoot has been sharing her fertility hormones with Franquita, 'cause the boy is all over the place!

Have a happy hoppy Friday, amigos! (Susanlynn, you never fail to bring a smile to my face!)

Loved the recap Novela Maven!

Nandicta: I'm hoping the Gran Final is 2 full hours & praying Univision doesn't butcher it!

The last TN that had 2 full hours uninterrupted was "Hasta El Fin Del Mundo" in May 2015!

Jorge is a social climber & his narcissism is showing.

Carvivile: Looking more like Purple Lips will be involved in running Montenegro Corp.,

Yes: It's quite obvious that Erick helped Daniela escape!

Susanlynn: Caridad needs an anvil & fast because of her pure STUPIDITY & everyone pretty much hates her guts!

UA: Arturo ignoring Purple Lips' phone call regarding Daniela escaping from rehab turned me off because of his constant obsession of his high school crush, Julia & drooling over her.

Meanwhile, Old Goat Humberto is still conning, scheming & pimping everyone for $$$.

Kirbo: Clara dressing better & she's HOTTER! Erick & Connie groping all over each other again. I wouldn't be shocked if Connie ends up preggers!

"Bony, teenage boobage".. Ow. That one hurt.

I feel sorry for Teenage Mutant Jorge. His only crime was falling for spaed out Regina who is still hopelessly devoted to Dumb Dave but dropped him close enough to fall into damaged Dani's clutches. All these people are driving me crazy, but I do have a soft spot for the boy scouts..Cookie and Turtle...and their compasses...Real and moral. I will be hanging around a table for them both with a bottle of Drambuie...and some Keebler chocolate chip cookies. I am a big fan of sweet, smart, responsible, protective, nice guys. To quote a nickname I saw on another forum ..Hunky MacHonorables.

Nandicta...It makes me verra happy happy to know that I can put a smile ;) on your face. My work here is done. Have a great Friday..✴sunny, clear, and beautiful here!

Yup Clara is HOT alright. If I were producing a Train Wreck I'd buy the best for myself also. A man drives what he can afford.

Miguel's newfound swagger can be attributed to dumping his blow up doll for a real woman though I wished he had chosen someone other than his brothers ex.

What I would like to see is Miguel help his youngest sister. Be that oldest bro, bro.

"What I would like to see is Miguel help his youngest sister. Be that oldest bro, bro."

Wow, I love that idea, tofie (though sadly I doubt we're headed in that direction)

Thanks, Carvivlie!

"I just want to smack Caridad every time she tells Gaby to forgive Franco or makes excuses for him to her."

Hahaha! If Anita were running a store for us, she'd make a fortune on Caridad-themed punching bags! 'cause come on – who doesn't want to smack Caridad? (JudyB and Diana, you can say it. You're among friends.)

Yes, Arturo is on a downward spiral, morally speaking, while Eladio just keeps moving up the moral scale. (I find this quite satisfying since it's fun cheering on FC.)

Thanks, Nandicta! Glad to see you add your voice to the consensus about what Julia told the therapist. It's great fun to see how much fun you're having with this one. Happy Friday to you too!

Thanks, Steve. I'm glad you enjoyed the recap.

Thank you NovellaMaven, I really like the titles of each scene, tells us whats coming. And O they're doozies.

It seems that arturo is gettin more sinister in his manipulations of juls with crooket moterized daddy. Thats why when he falls its gonna be a hard one. His deception is slimmy. He has know love for julia at all, its all about himself. I wont even mention that movable chair person. Is she really that stupid and blind, Especially about hummy? Yeah?! Yeah?!?

I like miguel, he means well. I did not mean for that to rhyme but I'll go with it. He'll probably take over the company while daddy and erick are in prison for fraud and interfearing with a witess. Nina "LOOKED" proud of him, but its just looks.

Still don't like turttle guy.
Still don't like caridad.

Franco is on a road to death or prison, or both. I understand his anger but....... time to let It go. He better listen to his baby momma. This time she makin sinse. But hes a block head. They don't listen, they fall. And hard. This will be well deserved. He'll take marintia with him, gaby and auggy can raise meteo gomez-luna.

Ok gotta go in publix to get lunch. Talk more later.

Caridud has been the most enabling so far, but what will she do when Gaby finds out about Mateo, and maybe even more important, that Cardud has known all along.

Cariboo Hoo hasn't just known a secret and been afraid to tell, she has almost been a co conspirator from the get go.

If I were Gaby, (and had a brain), I would be hard pressed to decide which one to kill first. As you can see, most TN transgressions can be solved in Kirboland with killing. Poof ! Boom, Whack, Slash, Arrrgh. Problem solved. Get someone over here to clean this up.

Thanks ♡Nina!

Hey, I still don't like Turtle Boy either. Of course the worst thing that could happen to him is to win a lifetime with a woman who wishes he were someone else. (How come these characters never see that?)

"I like miguel, he means well."

Nice beat. The next line? :-)

Truer words were never written. Had Gisela raised him where would he be now? Dealing crack cocaine on a street corner, I'll bet.

Who coined "Caridud" the other day? Forgot to compliment you on that.

If Gabriela ended up raising Mateo, I'd scream. She does not have to repeat all of Julia's experiences.

Miguel helping Daniela? That would be too noble of him. She doesn't want to be helped anyway and nobody can do anything about that. Not Nina, Arturo, David, Eladio, or even an army of medical personnel can help someone who doesn't even see the problem.

UA it was the Patio's loveable misfit Kirbo who came up with Caridud. I have a underwhelming need to corrupt any name of something/someone I do not like. In my parallel universe it is a pet name.

Thank You

Had Gisela raised him he would most likely be helping her push up daisies by now.

Could be. That's what happens to those guys sooner or later.

NovelaMaven...thank you! I was thinking the same thing about Regina. She looked as if she would loose her waffles while pretending to want sex with a turtle.

I don't feel sorry for Jorge, he knows that Regina was and still is completely in love with David and the only reason they aren't together is stupid!

Franco and Erick are getting more and more reckless as this TN is nearing the end. You know it's going to end badly for them. Is there a die Caridad die chant?

If she fell over a balcony, I wouldn't be upset.

You're welcome, Kendra!

"If [Caridad] fell over a balcony, I wouldn't be upset."

Neither would I. But given our girl's propensity for causing collateral damage, I'd be rather worried about anyone or anything below. :-)

Thanks NovelaMaven---I loved your recap subject titles.
Loved Turtle Boy becomes a human barnacle. I'm still laughing over that one.
Yes, I hope the fire alarm does go off tonight. I DO NOT want to see Regina and Turtle Boy in heavy embraces. Please Noooooo!!!

Kirbo---I too noticed Dani's change in appearance. How did she pull that off?

Tofie---Nurse Ratched and Dani? I would just love that but I think that there would be a battle royal on the Televisa set if Nurse Ratched were in attendance.

Clara, the directors girlfriend, daughter or whatever? I don't care. Clara is doing a great job as Consuelo's friend. A few side characters are always needed to fill out a story and Clara is just perfect I say.

Art turned off his phone because he didn't want to be harassed by his ex, Nina. Plain and simple it wasn't that he didn't care about Dani. I don't like Arturo any more than most of the patio does but this time it was understandable that he was avoiding Nina.

The first shipment of Caridad punching bags would no doubt sell out fast and a second order for more would need to be placed.

Nandicta---Yesterday you mentioned Te De Tila. I know them as the pop grupo that Ana Brenda sang with early on in her career. What is Te De Tila or what is the meaning of that phrase?

must see tv
the gringo

I hope Reg and Jor do sleep together. I'm tired of TN's where the guy gets to sleep around but if the girl has she is damaged goods.

NovelaMaven "But given our girl's propensity for causing collateral damage, I'd be rather worried about anyone or anything below. :-)" LOL So true!!!

NovelaMaven,

Your recaps always brighten my day and always make me smile (often out loud).

Humberto said:

"Please, Arturo, I need to gamble! Please understand."

Wouldn't it be good if Dani could be as honest about her problem with drugs?

UA,

"If Gabriela ended up raising Mateo, I'd scream."

Yet when Gabriela saw the photo of Mateo that Caridad had, she was smitten and was wanting to adopt him.

NovelaMaven,

I took a look at the transcript of the episode on the Univision website.".

I didn't know that they made transcripts of episodes available on their website.

So Miguel was voting those shares that Arturo was shielding from Nina to keep her from getting her fair share of their assets during the divorce? This is so sweet on a couple of levels.

That cake was beautiful, the special waffles that Jorge procured for Regina... not so much.

Looks like Regina is about to have a romantic encounter almost as enjoyable as Julia's wedding night.

Surely there'll be more to Dani's Great Escape than what we saw last night. Well, at least she went looking for David and not Ashmore or Mike.

Carlos

NovelaMaven once again, superb! These remaining episodes are proving tiresome for me. I loathe Arturo with the intensity of a thousand suns and to continuously watch this major a-hole lying and manipulating Julia (w/Hums help) has me wanting to throw something at my tv.

I'm really annoyed with Julia and her attitude with Eladio. She's prancing all over town with Arturo, taking selfies and going on dinner dates with the lying a-hole, but..but...she wants to make sure that Eladio is still in love with her. Why did you take your rings off Eladio? Why are you with Nina Eladio? Why aren't you pining for me in a hole Eladio? Get a grip Julia, you divorced the man, told him you were done. So either forgive him and get back together with him, or stfu and move on. You can't have it both ways. I hate childish games, they are both too old and right now Julia looks really silly with such a stupid immature clod like Arturo. The more I watch Art chuckling over the newspaper photos with Julia to Augie, the more I see where Erick got his personality.

Nina and Miguel, wow! Both are proving to be so interesting to me right now. I really am digging Nina's new approach to the end of her marriage and while she may not have been the most nurturing perfect mother, she seems to be the only one right now who is focused on her family and trying to keep it together. Meanwhile Art is so focused on Julia he can't be bothered for much else. As I watch Miguel, I think the blinders are coming off about his father, he seems to be seeing Art with fresh and astute eyes. I would love a big ol twist that has Miguel possibly running the family business as Art does a stint in jail for buying off the witness. Erick needs to just die. There's no redemption for plain stupid.

Kirbo, Caridud is perfect name for a character who is just that... a DUD! Just hanging around, eavesdropping, showing up announced, sticking her nose in where it doesn't belong. Whining to Eladio, simpering and begging Franco. The worst was covering up for Franco when she knew he was hooking up with Marintia before Gaby married him. Caridud should have kept her trap shut and her metiche nose out of things. Gaby would have been spared everything she is going to face. I'm still hoping for a forward and backhanded slap from Gaby or maybe even Julia. I sort of have the sense some of this is going to come full circle with Franco and Marintia meeting a sad end and Caridad raising Mateo alone.

This is the worst rehab ever. There's no structure and visitors don't seem to be properly screened. Furthermore she's barely been there and they are already letting her have visitors? BS. While it's possible to have visitors after only a week in, it's not likely. Usually there has to be some serious progress before family is allowed to visit. Many facilities have what are called family days. A good counselor would know Dani is not doing well, not adjusting and not ready for outside visits just yet. She's of age and she can leave that facility at any time. She didn't runaway, she probably just said, "I'm out thanks" FAIL.

Regina is miserable. It's hard to continue watching her try to force something that just isn't there with Boreje. Now she wants to hit the bed with him? Aye Regina...just no. I don't want to see that. This is one scene I hope hits the cutting room floor.

" Your recaps always brighten my day and always make me smile (often outloud.) " Ahhh. Now that is a line fit for a true telenovela galan. I will drink to that sentiment. Novelamaven weaves a spell with her recaps.I, too, have some noisy smiles while reading them.

"If [Caridad] fell over a balcony, I wouldn't be upset."

"Neither would I. But given our girl's propensity for causing collateral damage, I'd be rather worried about anyone or anything below. :-)"

Thank you Kendra and NovelaMaven, you've made my day (again).

And yes, I don't like Caridad either. Blech.

Diana

Wait wait wait. Regina and Mutant Ninja Love Turtle will just be Okie Dokey. She was setting the sheets on fire with Dave who doesn't have a brain proving to him she was better at 'that' than Dani. It is perfectly OK to reward the Turtle. It is not like she will be damaged goods when she returns to Dave who doesn't have a brain.

Just tell the dimwit she was 'practicing' for him. Those first and onlys kinda went away after Junior high?

Ya gotta admit the Turtle as earned a turn in the barrel if anybody on the show has.

Oh wow – gringo and Carlos and Delilah are here! Now it's a party!

Carlos, Susanlynn has already said it best: a line fit for a true telenovela galan! ¡Gracias!

About transcripts: On the Univision page, just below the video itself you'll find the words "Transcripción del video." Click on the words and the script will unroll, a few lines at a time. It is, however, possible to scroll down quickly if you are looking for something, but it's not possible to see a whole page at once.

Both the video of the latest episode and its transcript appear after the show has aired. Sometimes that means right away, as in late that evening, and sometimes it means the next day. Either way, it's pretty nifty. The transcript isn't perfect, but it's good enough.

Gringo, I'm happy you got a chuckle out of the recap. It sounds as if we all prefer a fire drill to that "love scene" that hangs over our heads. toes and fingers crossed. I have to respectfully disagree about Arturo though. As a parent, I can't imagine not answering a call when a child of mine is in crisis.

Delilah, I am such a fan of your comments.
"I loathe Arturo with the intensity of a thousand suns..."
Perfect!

As much as I like Julia, your critique is on point.
"So either forgive him and get back together with him, or stfu and move on."
Ouch.

Diana, you elicit plenty of noisy smiles yourself!

Thanks, NovelaMaven. My favorites:

The Worm Turns

Humberto ignores what she is really saying (as he has done for the last 40 odd years)

I’m ticked with Gaby too, but the girl is taking her vows seriously and is already feeling guilty about being disloyal to Franco by going to Augie behind his back. Not surprised she wouldn’t listen to the tape. Too bad she’s got a man that’s not worth standing by. She’ll be fierce when she gets one (Augie) who is.

I hope Mateo stays with his mom. I don't like Marintia, but she has been a loving mother to her son. Sure, she’s cheating with a married man, but that is not a capital offense. She seems more level-headed than Franco. She sees no reason for vengeance now and doesn’t know about Franco’s dirtiest deed, putting a hit on Erick. I’m hoping she’ll make a deal with Eladio and rat out loverboy.

Looks like Arturo has come full circle to become the villain. Wanting to keep Julia at home, when he put Nina down for being a stay-at-home mom with four kids and therefore not meriting a big divorce settlement? Qué hipócrita.

So I'm away on business for three days and the hotel did not have Univision in their channel assortment. I jumped in reading recaps just waiting for something NEW and Significant to happen... yeah. So....

First NM and all the recappers this week, many thanks keeping me up to speed with great recaps.

But gees, so Franco gets THE NAME, as if we didn't see that coming. Yawn. Gaby is still delusional, just getting more lurv and time with the Grey Fox. Anyone else feel bad for Auggie that he's getting Gaby as end game? (And how the blazes this actress got nominated for a TYNovela...wow, just wow.)

Arturo is an ass, Humberto needs someone, anyone, to push that man down the stairs or into traffic. Who knows, maybe his nurse will help us out.

Sort of getting tired of the Dani line...this seems to be in circles. This is either heading to a tragic ultimate, or it will be some major bust we invested time in and got no payoff. Erick is only good to fantasize how he will get his very large anvil.

My ultimate idea: Miguel and Nina join forces and wind up running the company. I really could care less what happens to Artie.

Eladio goes broke, busted by Franco, who screws up and loses it all, and maybe he goes out in some blaze of glory that can redeem him. Julia goes off into the sunset and wins the Highest salesman award for her real estate firm.

We know David and Gina are end game, but I lost interest in those two long ago and I like Jose Pablo.

Soon the agony will end...I just want to see the armageddon's.

Daisynjay

It's always a party on the Patio with so many deliciously clever and witty comments. You guys are the best! Thank you for alleviating the stress of many a hectic day and for the wonderful gift of laughter you give me on a daily basis.

I must dash but I spotted a couple of questions:

-- Gringo: Té de tila is liden blossom (or lime blossom) tea. It is meant to calm nerves, relax before sleeping, settle tummy aches. It knocks me out before bed. I find it more relaxing than chamomile tea.

-- Steve: The finale is exactly 1 hour and 46 minutes. If you take out 3 minutes for the opening and end credits, that's still about 15 to 17 minutes over the length of two regular episodes. I really hope Univision doesn't get too scissor-happy with the finale because that would be very disrespectful to the viewers.

Good night :)

Niecie: I differ when it comes to Mari and Mateo. I think she dotes on him because she knows he's her meal ticket. If Franco refused to acknowledge the child or help her financially I think the kid would have ended up at an orphanage. I feel like she is only play acting being a Mom, for Franco, Caridad and Eladio' sakes.

Daisynjay, agree that Gaby isn't good enough for Augie but maybe he is the kinda guy that likes weak females so he can "save" them. Gaby fits damsel in distress.

*waving at NovelaMaven* Gracias! I just call it like I see it. I really really do loathe Arturo more than words can express.

As for Julia, I love her and I still want Eladio to win her back, but he can only be raked over the coals so many times for all his sins. The man like it or not is trying, he's in therapy, he's apologized multiple times to her. She keeps telling her counselor that she wants to be financially independent and not be defined by a man or have Art/Eladio fighting over her like some object. She's not really doing anything to stop it though because she keeps showing up at Eladio's, making sure her presence is known, questioning him about his personal life, pouting and accusing him about Nina. She's out of line and needs to move on and let Eladio live his life in peace as he sees fit. If ..as she says she's truly done with him.

Miguel and Nina join forces and wind up running the company

I am so on board with this and think it would be such a delicious twist! The two most unlikely characters actually bonding, forgiving each other and then ousting Arturo! Oh my I'm giddy with the idea. Rot in jail Arturo with nothing but your lousy memories of all you had (your family) and what you didn't have (Julia).

DnJ, you wouldn't know it by the character Gaby here but Fabiola Guajardo was incredible in Yo no creo en los hombres. I mused when this show started she must feel a let down to have such a bland character after Isela in Yo No.

Niecie, you're a good influence on us. While we're running around The Patio with torches and pitchforks aloft, crying for blood, you remind us that:

"Sure, [Marintia's] cheating with a married man, but that is not a capital offense."

So true. Has she been a loving mother? I don't know. She's been portrayed as so greedy and ruthless up to now that it's hard to buy into the image of loving mama.

"I’m ticked with Gaby too, but the girl is taking her vows seriously"
Yeah, I thought so too.

Daisynjay, I especially enjoy your comments when you start feeling a little cranky about where a show is going after the first 375 episodes or so. Like Delilah – ¡Hola Delilah! – I am delighted with your idea about Miguel and Nina ending up running the company. [As I watched the show last night, the thought even crossed my mind that Julia and Nina might end up, if not friends, at least at peace with one another. For that to happen, Arturo would have to lose all credibility and appeal in the eyes of both women. Of course there's still Eladio left to fight over... Oh well. Never mind.]

Hey Nandicta, you're so right – It IS always a party around here!

Niecie: I was hoping that Julia would be with her high school crush, Arturo, but sadly, it's looking more & more like it's not going to happen :(

Novela Maven: It's looking more likely that Purple Lips, Regina & Miguel will be running Montenegro Corp.,

Delilah..."lousy memories of all you had (your family) and all you didn't have (Julia). Yes..that. Art, if only you could have acted like a grownup and kept your midlife crisis under control. #toobadsosad. To quote a kindergarten maxim "You get what you get , and you don't get upset."

Yeah, cranky about sums it up NM. I kept reading Pasion recaps, then I would check and the El Hotel recaps and think...what is wrong with this picture. So glaringly different in that one I was pounding the exquisite pillows on my hotel king size bed in frustration knowing all I was missing in El Hotel and got a total "Oh well, not missing much" for Pasion. I really though these ultimates would crank up the action faster. It's like were Humberto, just slowly put-putting to the end. Hate when everything is crammed into the Finale (worst yet, Finale Part One and then we get the makeup scenes in Part 2.)

Daisynjay

Nandicta---So it's a calming tea. I always thought of those words as a Latin Pop group. They only made one album though.

Daisynjay---Soon the agony will end. What agony is that? I'm enjoying every minute of this novela and I will have a front row seat yet again tonight.

NovelaMaven---As someone else said, Art probably thought that Nina was going to needle him about the newspaper article and he didn't want to hear it so he turned his phone off. If he had known that it was about Daniela, I think that he would have answered.

If Erick helped Dani escape I wonder how he did it. Is that treatment center like a jail?---you are locked in? I don't know anything about drug treatment facilities.

must see tv
the gringo

It looks like Nina's two favorite children are both headed for doom: Daniela to a possibly fatal overdose and Erick to prison or death. That is more loss than any parent deserves no matter their (own) mistakes or sins.

If Arturo would have to do prison time for bribing a witness (which would be very hard to prove at this point) then Nina should do time for bribing the judge who ruled in Erick's favor during the custody case.

Where is Pedro now? He has two paymasters to rat out.

If Arturo goes to prison it would be for killing Assmore, whom he (and Nina) would hold responsible for anything that would happen to Daniela.

Gringo, someone earlier said that since Daniela is not a minor she probably could just walk out of there. It was mentioned last week or earlier that her parents had no legal right to have her committed because of that. Despite some of the attitudes among the parent generation in this story, it's still 2016 in it.

Steve: I don't see Art out of the picture at Montenegro Group. The witness he bribed is dead so I think he is off the hook there. If he wants to be happy at work he is going to have to start playing nice with Nina. Of course the kids could ask for their shares and then Nina wouldn't hold so many, nor Art. That just may leave Miggie in control!

Where is Pedro? Franco wanted Callao to take him out but we didn't see anything after that conversation. I'm hoping he stays alive so he can take down both Erick and Franco. He is the one with the most evidence. If he goes, the kidnapping and cut brakes evaporate to nothing. I'm hoping he gets caught for murder and does a plea deal to give evidence on other crimes, bringing down Franco and Erick.

Last night I thought Dani might throw herself off the roof or out the window of the hotel. I thought symbolically it would be interesting. Reg and David built this beautiful building and Dani throws herself off of it.

I'm holding out hope for Dani. I'd like to see her successfully cope with her substance abuse problem and while doing so lose her obsession with David. Maybe after she gets a grip she could set her sights on Jorge, adopt Regina's neglected turtle, and go on to become a world class chef, perhaps teaming up with Petra and Obdulio.

Carlos

"I don't know anything about drug treatment facilities." bragging or complaining Gringo?

:-)

Carlos: I just don't think there is enough time left for Dani to get her act together enough to be able to let David go....UNLESS we have a time jump. Could happen I guess.

Carlos, I like your vision of Dani's future very much. The cooking theme is already well-established, as is Dani's special relationship with Petra. Not everything has to end bleakly, right? RIGHT???

Carvivlie, you're probably right, but then these writers do have their ways...

I wonder how long Julia can string her Tirtle along before Farturo starts wnating more than a goodnght kiss.

RATS Turtle

I like my (deleted) vision for Dani much better. :-)

Thank you NovelaMaven for a great recap. The recaps always brighten my day especially when I did not see the episode, like last night..... except for the last few minutes when Dani/David were on the phone with Nina. I can't imagine how Gina and David can possibly be together at the end, and though I still don't like Dani much, G&D together at the end would be grossly unfair.

Is Gina really going to, you know, with the turtle? Yikes! I liked her very much in LSDP but this Gina character is killing me.

BTW: this subtitle: "The Desperation Defense (listed just below the Twinkie Defense in the Annals of Dubious Justification)" was priceless!

Loriloo, thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed the recap. I'm also having a hard time visualizing Regina and David together at the end, but the writers often seem more concerned with surprising us or shocking us than with giving us narrative coherence. (So what else is new?) Often the final episode devolves into Mr. Toad's Wild Ride – a crazy, shoot 'em up that has very little in common with the way the show developed over the preceding several months. In short, anything can happen... and usually does.

Arturo is a bigO dissapointment. Of course his behavior towards his children is no surprise. Regina got in the way of him getting juls back and look how he used that to come between her and david. Tho he didn't have to work to hard g
Just handed him over to her sister. Arturo didn't feel all that bad about it. Cuz hes a very selfish man and juls will one day see that, well shes got what........two weeks? Lets hope she don't do something stupid like marry him.

Has anyone else noticed how well franco has taken on his dad's crazy characteristics, the stretching eyes the crazy
hand movements. All the crazy has moved to him. Iam not surprised, eladio raised him not well at all. And his moma is just inabling his bad behavior and makin excuses for him and silly gaby falls for that load of bull everytime. Poor little silly girl. When she smartin up I'll call her a woman.

I see ten years down the road, Dave and Dani are married. She is on a reality show, "The DisFunctional housewives of D. F. and Dave has gotten Regi preggers.

It'll be HUGE.

NovelaMaven - I forgot to praise your descriptions, like:

"A fatuous smile plastered on her face" (Caridad)

"...says Gaby with unwonted shrewdness."

"Arturo the Putz" - so, so true!

"[Because she is a moron.]" Caridad

Thanks again for my morning laugh!

Nina, Gaby drives me crazy too. At one point I called her an amoeba. Just reacts to stimuli, no thought processes at all.

Kirbo and Nina: I think, or hope, that when the Mouth Breather and Mateo finally come to light, our Miss Gaby will become the tormenta salvaje that we are waiting for.

This has been going on for a while. It made me think of what he might have become if Caridud had raised him. That alcoholic mother of hers would have been around and Franco might not have been any better off. He'd probably still have become a street thug.

Kudos to the actor for this performance. DC has huge potential.

Poor little Gaby. I don't see her eyes slamming open in an instant, but rather the veil of trust and stupidity slowly slipping away.

She already has a clue but refuses to allow her other self and others to acknowledge it. The irrefutable evidence is mounting, she sees it.

Poor little Gaby. Eladio has been like a Father to her. When she realized that Francofurter has in essence started the same with her as Eladio did to Julia, and that Eladio has known all along, poor little Gaby. She doesn't even have any parents to turn to. We haven't even seen her with any friends, it's going to be a rough time for her. If she just had a smart friend or two.

WOW. Glad this is a show.

That said, when her world does fall apart I hope Auggie and his king size bed will be there for her to fall into. hehehe.

she realizes typo... future-- not past tense.

Well I hope his shoulder is there before the bed. The girl is going to need a good cry, and some venting might be good. And lets hope she doesn't kill him(francofurtter),then she'd just need a good lawyer. Of course she'd have to wait cuz arturo and chimp will need a lawyer to get them out of the deep doodoo they took a swan dive into. That law degree is really gonna pay off with this crew. Then after all the money he makes, they can buy back the shoe factory, together.:-)

Yeah I like that. Buy back the shoe factory.....together. Move to wherever the shoe factory is, B F Egyptidido, whatever, and try to forget about all those
Fruit Loops in the city.

Nina, I must say, that is the best 'hoped for' scenario I have seen yet.

It would have been nice if Gaby hadn't been so isolated and the writers had allowed her to have a friendship of some sort. I remember thinking in the beginning that perhaps Regina and Gaby would become friends, seeing as Gaby/David are so close. A friendship would have made things more interesting in the relationships; instead the writer/producer was more interested in pushing Clara as Con's friend. Even Nina had Fanny.

In looking at Gaby, I don't really think Gaby is a dim bulb when it comes to Franco. I think she's very loyal and committed to her marriage. She's had a sense for quite a while that all is not right with Franco; but metiche Caridud is right there to guilt her with the sad tale of how Franco has been treated so badly, he feels inferior because he isn't recognized as a Gomez-Luna, oh my son he just needs patience and understanding. Oh Gaby, he needs you to support him and be in his corner..blah blah blah. Poor Gaby, Franco is a master manipulator and I really do think he is a psychopath capable of anything. If she would instead listened to her gut this nonsense might have ended sooner. Marintia has seen the dark side of Franco and she should be afraid...especially when she keeps pushing his buttons and making demands. That's not going to end well for her.
