Sueño de amor #31 Wednesday 4/20/14

So here we go this Wednesday night . . .

Pato gives Ernesto and Anastasia the stink eye at the hospital and Ernesto the brush off. She is going to get a coffee but first she is off to the bathroom. No, Ernesto will not be coming with her.

The news spreads of Viviana's coma, Adrián calls Estrella.

Pato arrives at the hospital. Luca is there to greet her. Esperanza is also soon on the scene. No change in Viviana's condition. Nobody knows when/if she will come out of coma.

Ricardo is at home. He is on the phone then off. Tracy is there and wants to know who he was talking to. His lawyer. The divorce will be final next week. He is worried about the future of their kids. She says he should be worried because his future will not be easy. She says he never loved her. She will not be happy and she will make sure he isn't either.

Pato tells Esperanza about Anastasia and Ernesto being lovers. Should she tell Luca or not? It could be the Third World War and with his mother in a coma . . . What to do?

Ernesto tells his sons that all he can say is that their mom will have the best medical care possible. A big hug for both of his sons. Estrella arrives to be there with Adrián.

At the hospital, Esperanza tells Pato it will be worse And heart Luca more if Pato keeps the truth from Luca especially if he were to find out she already knew. She cannot use Viviana's condition as the excuse to postpone telling him.

At the Alegría house, Ricardo is telling the kids the Alegría family will never be separated so they will never lose their "alegría." He plays with the kids. Tracy tells herself he will never get rid of her; no way.

Mario is ready to drop his girlfriend off at her place. They pick up where they left off in the restaurant and start make out in his car. He never puts it in park. His foot slips off the brake and he rolls into and hits the car parked in front of him. When the cars hit, they come up for air but seem to wonder if it was the kiss. . .

Good news at the hospital: Viviana is out of the coma.

At the door of Esperanza's house, Pedro is with Ara and having problems with his vision and feels lousy. He tells her he is just tired. It will pass. She comforts him.

Back at the hospital, Esperanza tells Pato that now is the time to tell Luca. Esperanza sees Ernesto as she leaves the hospital and lets him have it telling him he is worse than she ever imagined.

Pato beats around the bush talking about "telling the truth" but finally tells Luca that Anastasia was cheating on him with Ernesto. How does she know? She heard. Is she sure? She must be to have told him. He thanks her for telling him. Luca is enraged but does not approach Ernesto because the doctor is giving him the update on Viviana. Just a few more tests so they know if she has been left with any handicaps after her coma. Ernesto tries to talk to Pato. She tells him to leave her alone. Anastasia just smirks.

Homero, Rodrigo and Selena Skype with each other. Rodrigo thinks he could be happy now in Mexico because he now has a friend. Then the Alegría kids eat cheesy quesadillas.

Inside the Guerrero house, Pedro is feeling better. Ara has been taking care of him and gushing about how proud she is to be his novia. Then they are all over each other having a fine old time.

At Margarita's house, Kristel is talking to Margarita about Erasmo and their "date." Seeing how happy Kristel is reminds Margarita of her honeymoon. Margarita talks about her honeymoon. Margarita wants to hear all about everything.

At Margarita's house, Silvana is waiting for Mario. Whe he arrives, she wants to know how and when the car got hit and what he is doing with lipstick on his collar. (Geez, it sounds like a song from the 1950's)

Ricardo appears at Esperanza's house as a messenger for Mr. "Felicidad". He brings her a music box with a ballet dancer and the best surprise ever: he tells her the divorce is final next week. He will be free!!! Nacho interrupts their impending kissy face time because he needs to tell his sad tale of being fired after working for only two hours. Ricardo and Esperanza surprise Pedro and Ara in the living room who emerge from their make out session a bit disheveled.

The two stooges need a catchy name for their ice cream concoction like the "chilorta" name they came up with for their chilaquiles/torta combo.

At the hospital, Luca and Adrián are there for Viviana who croaks out an "I am sorry". They tell her she has nothing to be sorry for.

Silvana and Mario are still arguing as Silvana gets more and more physical pushing Mario around, beating him with her fists and demanding he confess who he is cheating on her with. Salma happily takes new video. Kristel acts as referee. Margarita just repeats "lipstick on his collar."

At the Gallo's, Erasmo is putting Kiko to bed. Kiko wants to know about Kristel since Erasmo looks so happy. He tells Erasmo he deserves to be happy and not be guilty about the accident.

At the hospital, Estrella is telling Pato about how she loves Adrián but how messy things are with Salma involved. Adrián always apologizes for getting drunk and she forgives him and they start fresh but that is getting harder to do. Probably the best and most healthy thing for her is to stay far away from Adrián.

Back at Esperanza's house, Ricardo gets a call from Iker that tomorrow a judge has ordered that Pámela's father "La Sombra" appear in court. Tomorrow they should be able to get him.

The next morning, Esperanza and Pato and Pedro are in spinning class catching up. The subject of Ara comes up and why Pedro is with her. Esperanza is not happy with his choice. Esperanza asks if he loves her or not. He says he has feelings for her and likes her but does not love her. Pedro tells his mom they better hurry up with the class because she has to go for her checkup at the doctor. He is done talking about Ara. Two of the stooges are in class and come up with a name for their ice cream concoction: "Sueño de amor". Esperanza hears them and thinks that there is an ice cream with that name already.

At the construction site, Erasmo's fellow workers notice how bright and happy he looks. He sings Kristel's praises.
Kristel appears on the site with breakfast for Erasmo.

Esperanza has her checkup and everything is okay. Pato, Ricardo and Pedro are there with her. Everybody is happy. The doctor mistakes Ricardo for Esperanza's husband. Ricardo says he is the man who is in love with her and wants to spend many years even infinity with her.

Later, Ricardo and Iker are in a vehicle staking out Pámela's house. Ricardo feels bad that Pámela is going to find out her dad is a criminal. Soon a car with Pámela and Paulo leave for school. They are accompanied by a driver and a bodyguard. There are two cars in their security detail. According to what the kids say their dad is on a trip. Ricardo says this time La Sombra will not be able to save himself.

Back at the hospital, Luca is going over In his head what Pato told him.

At school, Pámela and her friend are instigating a prank on Félix that involves furniture polish on the floor and has managed to talk Selena into getting involved by saying he bothers her father (Ricardo) a lot. Selena is to whistle when she sees him coming. Félix is on his wheels and has noticed that Ricardo has not arrived yet and is laughing saying "Adiós, Alegría" Selena whistles and flaps but Félix has stopped and is trying to call Ricardo to no avail. Selena runs back to the other two girls. Félix is talking and laughing to himself. They come to the conclusion he must be possessed by a demon and take off but peak to see his fall. He comes rolling around the corner but quickly stops laughing as he hits the polish, spins out of control and ends up on the floor.

At the hospital, Viviana thinks she is going to change because of Adrián who she sees sleeping in her room. Viviana looks serious. In the hallway, Ernesto bumps into Luca and asks how Viviana is doing. Luca loses it and starts screaming at Ernesto how could he betray him like that when he trusted him. Ernesto just stares and does not get it-----yet.

No comments from me tonight. I have to think about if I have anything to say!

What a blockbuster of an episode Jarifa and you captured it perfectly! Fantastic, fantastic summary.

"It could be the Third World War and with his mother in a coma . . . What to do?" Shall we start there? I think the statement answered the question. Should Pato have told Luca? Yes. Should she have told him at the hospital? Nopis.

Adrian might finally have received one of the most loving, genuine hugs from his father he'd ever received. Couldn't the boys and their father had a few moments of being a real family, savoring their closeness and the good news about their mother.

Perhaps this was Vivi's wake up call. (Sorry, I couldn't help myself ;)). I hope she realizes her children need her and is able to put her shallowness aside and take care of what's really important.

I love seeing Erasmo but he and Kristel aren't doing it for me. Not sure what it is (perhaps the actress and/or the part are too reserved? Not sure). Always happy at Kiko screen time.

Favorite moment? "the Alegría kids eat cheesy quesadillas". Doesn't cheese make everything better?

This was great - thank you Jarifa!

Diana

Diana, I sure agree about Kiko screen time and cheese. Loved "wake up call". Thanks for the laugh!

Sure! Specially when the Cheese is Lala and melts on the coldest tortillas! BTW, ''quecas'' is another name for quesadillas.

Margarita sure put a lotta cream on her tacos when she described herself. She was describing the Diana the huntress statuette in front of her, but while I was listening, I was picturing Anita Eckberg. Se vale soñar!

I guess that was another ''homage'', but Nacho did the same waiter gig he used to do in LA HORA PICO, where he played Paul Yester, the gay apologizing waiter.

Rarotonga is an african queen created by Yolanda Vargas Dulché for a comic. There are 2 movies about her but no novela yet. She falls in love with a mexican doctor.

''Naranja dulce, limón partido'' is part of a children's song but is commonly used to say ''no''. ''Naranjas'' is even more common, but the whole line seems more fancy.

A few episodes back, Esperanza called ''colación'' a snack. That term, along with chocolatada are not mexican. Im México, colación is hard candy and we don't use the word chocolatada for chocolate milk. I guess Ricardo is paying homage to some of his personal chilean vocabulary.

Pablo, thanks for the extra interesting info. What fun!

Thanks for the recap. I just thought I could fill in the blanks with some trivia.

Pablo, you are not only very funny but very informative.

Thank you so much - Diana

Thank you, Jarifa! Great retelling of an iffy episode. Also some real restraint, e.g. "Seeing how happy Kristel is reminds Margarita of her honeymoon. Margarita talks about her honeymoon. Margarita wants to hear all about everything." and you didn't even add the ACK!! Why would granny want to hear all the lurid details about the campout sex? "Erasmo really torched my marshmallows, Abue...IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN ~*eyebrow wiggle*~".

Ricardo seems to think this divorce is going to happen next week easy-peasy. Is that another Secret Agent benefit, or is he in for some disappointment? So far he hasn't even managed to get Tracy out of his home, aside from her brief snitfit sexcapade in Elei.

Are we really supposed to believe that a SECOND group of fools would independently decide to name their ice cream "Sueño de Amor"? I don't think my beanie has a setting that tight. It's a stupid name in general, a spectacularly stupid name for ice cream, and it doesn't even rhyme in Spanish. Even Benjamín y Geraldo would be like, "nah, no one is high enough to go for THAT."

Julia, " I don't think my beanie has a setting that tight." was absolutely perfect!
