Sueno de Amor, #33 Friday, 04/ 22/ 16 Questionable fathers and their offsprings: will Ernie be a better grandpa than he is a father? Will La Sombra get a Dragon gift for Father's Day?

We begin with a rehash of Ernesto and Viviana's  ugly fight - Viviana wants the divorce and half of everything, including half of the company that Ernie built with her father's money. This whole mess happens in front of their children - classic La Colina family moment!

Felix asks Margarita to meet up at night and at first she thinks it's a romantic rendez-vous, but he only wants to go ghost hunting (hey, if a girl has to settle...). Later on, they meet the certified ghost hunter (if such a thing even exists) and start roaming the school at night.

Aranza arrives for her "job" and is greeted by a lecherous looking overweight man, who looks at her with nauseating lust, approving of her big cleavage. She looks disgusted, but we don't actually find out what she's up to.

Esperanza of the Tell No Lies Family and Ric of the Incompetence in Every Job Order want to talk with PatoPedro about something very important. The teens think that since Ric's divorce is almost final, things around the house are about to change: Pato will get another new daddy and Pedro another chef to cook his vegetables (does he know that Ric only prepares pancakes?). But no, the  talk is about a big secret. He's a super secret agent, who came to Mexico to track down his arch enemy and put everyone's life in danger. Pato seems to believe this is all a joke (who can blame her?), but then they are informed about La Sombra and his activity, the way the bastard killed Ric's partner and only friend and how he has a kid in their school.

The Gallos are painting the bedroom. I didn't quite get it, but is Kristel moving in with them? I don't even think they have enough room for her skirts. Erasmo is worried that he can't give her everything that she deserves, so he needs to work ever more (when?? his two siblings want to know). And one of these days he will have to finish school, too. Gallo hug - together they can succeed in everything.

Silvana tells Kristel that Mario has been unfaithful to her. Kristel can't believe her ears that her dad would do such a thing, so she tries to comfort her mother and suggests therapy. This infuriates Silvana, who thinks that Mario is not worth the couch time, since he's so mediocre and gray, a good for nothing moron, basically. Kris points out that she was the one who lost all his money and treats him like dirt and the mother-daughter talk turns into the usual fight with no resolution.
Mario is out with Felicia, who first slaps him for having lied and then sits down with him for dinner (?) He brought a ring with him (that flies into another guy's soup) and tries to explain himself, but what is there to explain? She actually fell in love with him and he turned out to be a big fat liar.

Ric and Espe are at school, too. They tease one another about Felix and Margarita having called them and then start to search for the two who are trapped in an office with the ghost hunter. Ric gets a call from work and has to take it in another room, leaving Espe alone in the hall, just in time for Agatha to make a ghostly appearance. Espe smiles at her, talks to her as if she were a regular child and makes the girl say her name (we never see her face). When Ric shows up again, distracting Espe, Agatha vanishes (so spooky.... NOT!)
Anyway, they manage to "rescue" the three idiots and the investigator runs for her life (and her sanity, I would presume).

Luca fights with Ana about her lie and her cheating ways and being with his father, from all men. Ana tries to take all the blame, she was the one who seduced poor Ernesto. Yeah, it did happen several times, but only because she was weak and a fool. The drama of this scene should write itself, but Luca is so ridiculous in his rage that I can only laugh at his screaming.

Ernie and Tracy are in a hotel room, but their hook up turns into a fight when Ana calls him and Tracy starts to question the call. He's so annoyed by her bad Spanish that he ends up kicking her out of his bed and out of the room.

Ric is at work, investigating the drawings, searching for new clues. On his way out, Iker tries to convince the big boss to leave, too, but Ric is too busy, actually working for the first time since the show started. Earlier he got confirmation that the drawing might have been made by an older kid, so now he has a bunch of papers on his desk and he analyses each and every one of them in great detail.  He gets some intel about a new heist that the Sombra is preparing. This time they have to be prepared to catch him.
At the same time La Sombra is looking at actual pictures of his two boys. I didn't recognize them at first, so that's why I was actually surprised at the end of the episode. More on that later.

Espe and Pato are in bed, talking about Agatha. Do ghost really exist, then? Pato is impressed that her mom is the first person to actually see Agatha.
Joke aside, in what Universe would the story of a dead child hunting her former school is not awfully sad and depressing? I'm not saying that I believe in ghosts, but I hope Espe finds a super speedy class that she can take to become a ghost whisperer and help Agatha find some peace for her soul and walk into the light and away from the crazies at Palacios.

The next day Kiko is back at school and the whole gang is there to throw him a surprise party, Adrian's song included. Why is Estrella still making googly eyes at him after what he's done?

Pedro asks Aranza what she's been up to the other night, noticing that she looks very tired. She won't share and for once since they met, she decides she doesn't want to be in his face all the time and leaves. Just then Kristel shows up, but she and Pedro just stare at one another for a second and then she goes away.

Salma is not feeling too great, she runs to the bathroom to throw up. Here we go...
Later on, at home, she's not feeling much better, either and Kristel and Margarita notice that she doesn't have a fever. All to the contrary, she's cold as ice. Salma is annoyed by their questioning, so she leaves; but Kris and Marga seem to suspect that something is very not OK and will only get a resolution in about 9 months or so.

Espe informs Ric about the play that she co-wrote and the kids of the two schools will perform. He will help with rehearsal, because he has enough time to add a third job to his schedule. Only problem is they need to be careful with the cameras, Espe warns. Ric pretends not to understand why they would need to do that and the scene is kind of cute, but I'm still having a hard time to get behind these two, since I don't see any real chemistry here.

Viviana is ready to go home with Adrian and Luca. She looks happy and willing to change, which becomes really clear when Pato shows up running, apologizing for being late. Vivi tenses for a moment, but then actually smiles at Pato and approves of her presence, which surprises PatoLuca - Vivi is truly willing to change!
Arriving home, Pato runs into Ernie, who wants to talk with her. He loves her and wants to have a relationship with her. Pato is in no mood, though - now she knows what he's capable of doing to those who he supposedly loves, so she really doesn't need that kind of "love" in her life. If he was able to betray Luca, who gave a kidney to save his life, what will he do to her? Ernie looks like he's about to bend on his knees and beg, but Pato is adamant: does he actually think that he's done something to gain her love until now? (He did solve her Visa situation and bought her ticket planes, right?) He's just a liar and a cheat and a manipulator: he used and abused her mom, betrayed Luca and treated his wife like dirt. He tries to say that his affair with Ana was just an awful mistake, but Pato has had one two many bad experiences with him. Just then Luca shows up and Ernie tries to patch things up with him, too.
Pato leaves them alone, but Luca is not willing to make up, either. No matter how much Ernie begs, Luca can't get over what he's done to him or the way he's been treating his mom and his brother all this time.
Interesting aside: Ernie has been treating Adrian and Viviana like crap since forever, but only now, when Luca has been hurt personally, does he find it in his SuperHeart to call out his father. Where was he when Ernie was practically abusing Adrian, who is in desperate need or professional help?
Anyway, Luca blames Ernie for Vivi's problems, his neglect and his lack of love. Ernie is not willing to take all the blame for that, since Vivi is a vain poser. What about Adrian, then? Well, Ernie is trying to give the kid some tough love; that's how he was raised and he turned out just fine, right? (heh!) He is begging for forgiveness and says that he's willing to do everything to have it.

I know that Ernie is the worst, but is he really? I can't bring myself to truly dislike the man, except for when he treats Adrian really bad. There is something about the character, I don't know if it's the direction or the actor's touch, but I still believe that Ernie can turn around and save his relationship with his kids before it's too late. Maybe I have a soft spot for him ever since I saw him as a galan in Quien eres tu? (La Usurpadora remake, where he starred with Laura Carmine - yeah, the two villains playing leads - they were actually pretty good together,).
Seeing how Adrian is going and the fact that Salma is probably pregnant, I fear that Adrian will end up joining Agatha in the other world and this will finally wake up Ernie, who will decide to be an actual good father type for his grandson. I really hope things won't end like this, but a hunch is a hunch.

Kristel and Margarita talk about her parents' situation and her triangle with Erasmo and Pedro. She insists that she is deeply enamored with the sexy constructor, but Margarita knows better. Should Kris tell Erasmo that she has doubts? Hah, should she really?
On his end, Erasmo is telling Begonia and her husband how much he loves Kristel and how perfect she is and how lucky he feels and etc etc...
How long before Kris and Pedro start making out in the closet room? If they ever get the room to themselves, of course, since this seems to be Espe and Ric's favorite hang out, too.

La Sombra is outside his house, checking out his two kids, Homero and Virgilio (!!!) Still wearing that stupid mask, in broad daylight, in front of his home, he whispers that he misses them.
How about that for a plot twist? La Sombra's kids are besties with Ric's kids. Only in a telenovela. Looking forward to that first play date.

Adriana- I'm still on Asian time so I'm wide awake and reading recaps. I loved this recap, even though I've only ever seen one episode of this show. Your recapping team is really bringing the silliness of this tn to life. I always get a chuckle. Great job.

You and I must have been the only people to watch Quien eres tu?

Adriana, thanks for your very entertaining recap. I truly enjoyed it more than what I watched.

So,
Salma will have the (first) unexpected pregnancy. I wonder if she will have company before the show is over. Can't see her as an unwed
mother. Adoption? I'd first say abortion but guess that never have seen it yet in telenovelalandia.
Margarita had a good nickname for Félix: bigotón picarón.
La Sombra had his hand shot off by Ricardo. So now we know why he might be cranky with Ricardo.
We really do have a ghost story. Yay! What does Agatá want from Esperanza? was Pato's question and a good one.
Mario's tooth ended up in some guy's soup when Felicia slapped him; so he is toothless again.
Ernesto was real quick to tell Tracy to take a hike after their sex rendezvous. Even he could not stand her Spanish.
When "Nachito" was offered a job by Luca at the construction company, he was not happy: he looked sick with the prospect of having to
really work. That was the funniest stooge moment for me,
There was the ubiquitous Subway commercial. Surprise: On "Jane the Virgin" this week a character talked about using "Active Baby
Dreft" to clean some baby clothes. I couldn't believe it.
Margarita's little "lying by omission" talk called Kristel out on her having feelings for Erasmo and Pedro.
Ricardo explains a musical to the kids as being just like "Mi corazón es tuyo" that they saw in LA. Talk about el eterno retorno . . .
La Sombra is Homero and Virgilio's dad. Good to know since I had already moved on to another show another channel . . .

Vivi, thank you for stopping by.
What part of Asia are you visiting?
In all honesty, I didn't watch the entire Quien eres tu?, but what I did see, I liked and Julian Gil made quite the impression on me. Maybe that's why now I'm so willing to cut him some slack.

Jarifa, thank you for correcting the ring vs tooth detail. I was wondering why Marion would bring a ring and what happened with his tooth after, but I was too lazy to go back and check - and yeah, I only half listen to scenes I don't like.
And this brings me to Homero and Virgilio - on the one hand, I'm happy that we know more about La Sombra and I think the reveal is a good one, but H&V were so ffw worthy - now I'm going to have to watch their scenes and listen to their stupid dragon talk.

I think Salma will have the baby and raise it with the help of all the grandparents. Sadly, I'm afraid that Adrian won't be in the picture at that point. But she's 14, this is such a messed up situation!

Adriana, there was a ring, too, I thought, but was not watching very carefully. : ( Maybe somebody else was and can clue us in.

Adriana- Unimas stopped showing Quien eres tu, so I didn't get to see the whole thing either. But like you, impressed with Julian playing the hero for a change.

I got back from Nepal and Malaysia earlier this week, but my body is still not back to US EST yet.

Adriana, thank you for the excellent recap.

"Ric of the Incompetence in Every Job Order", "I don't even think they have enough room for her skirts the investigator runs for her life (and her sanity, I would presume)" and "He's so annoyed by her bad Spanish that he ends up kicking her out of his bed and out of the room" were among my favorites.

I'm a bit surprised Salma is pregnant. Is she the youngest character to ever get pregnant on a TN? A dubious honor.

Adriana, I'm a bit conflicted about Ernesto. If it weren't for his treatment of Adrian, I could make allowances for the rather evil mistakes he has made. I am surprised to be saying that because I was not a Julian Gil fan, but there is something about him/the character that is making me change my mind.

Poor Mario cannot catch a break, can he?

What on earth is Ara up to??

And Kristel. If she is really tempted to dump Erasmo for Pedro, then go ahead. I have no doubt there is a long waiting line for Erasmo who let's face it, is pretty perfect.

Jarifa, I was salivating at the Subway scene. Although Kiko was supposed to be eating steak and cheese, all I saw was lettuce and cucumber (no doubt in keeping with the actor's health regimen).

Vivi, welcome back! I hope you had a marvelous trip. How nice to see your lovely, smiling face again.

Adriana, thank you so much!

Diana

Thank you Adriana, Jarifa and Pablo for your excellent and wildly entertaining recaps! What can I say, too many rants too little time! I laughed out loud when Tracy was called Kracy! One of your creations made it to TV, Pablo! Do you reckon they read what we write here? Naaaaah! That might inspire them to improve their mess a wee bit.

Welcome back, Vivi! Glad you're joining this surviving group of SdA watchers.

I'm still puzzled that Kracy can muddle up the "a" and "o" endings for feminine and masculine but she gets the Subjuntivo spot on and she knows idiomatic expressions like "el comal le dijo a la olla" (the griddle said to the pot). Another one of Osorio's mysteries!

By the way, the full saying is "el comal le dijo a la olla ¡mira qué tiznada estás! The griddle said to the pot: look how charred you are!

Have a great weekend, everyone! Sorry I can't join in the fun longer! :)

Just a little clarification. When I said: too many rants too little time, I obviously meant the show. The recaps and comments I read from Tuesday up until today inspire nothing but delight and laughter! Muchas gracias por alegrarme el día (Thank you for brightening my day).

Surprise! Surprise! I went to see "Compadres" and who should appear but Adrián--the young actor Andrés Delgado--playing the villain's very silent tech guy in a couple of scenes. You never know who will pop up where.

Jarifa, thanks for noting that. How was the movie overall?

I thought the trailer looked good and the young kid in it has a great laugh.

Diana

Diana, the movie was okay if you like action movies heavy on violence and light on humor. I was expecting something with much more humor based on the trailer. Omar Chaparro was the good guy, Erik Elías the bad guy, and Aislilnn Derbez the damsel in distress. : )

It was too easy. Osorio gave it to my in a silver platter, they probably though about it that way. Gringa loca is something they see everyday. I just heard someone call that to Depp's wife, just because she went to Australia to check on him taking her dogs as contraband. Anyway, if gringa loca is such a common expression Tracy should be the equivalent for Osorio, who already had another Tracy in PEAM, and yes, even when older, it was a gringa loca too... trying to seduce Colunga.

I am late in the comments because this episode, with the ghostbusters thing and all that, was for me, nothing to talk about. Sorry. When you want comedic relief you need charismatic people to do the job, not your comadres. That's the big difference. Remember: we have to like them.

"When you want comedic relief you need charismatic people to do the job, not your comadres." Truer words have not been spoken, Pablo! Osorio needs to retire his compadres and comadres, or better yet, retire himself!

Pablo, I was there on Wednesday. I had nothing to say.

I had posted (or thought I had) several additional comments that don't seem to be showing...hmmm.

The first was to welcome you back Vivi and to say how nice it is to see your lovely, smiling face.

The second was to thank you Jarifa for your comments on the movie. I thought the trailer looked funny (the clown) but I've crossed this off by list (til it comes to On Demand).

Diana

Thank you, all, for stopping by.

Diana, I don't remember ever seeing a 14 yo pregnant, either. Especially when she is the molester and not the victim.Yuck, I'm curious to see how they treat this story, it's not like they're going to ask two kids to get married, right? I'm sure Silvana will scream "abortion", but what about the La Colinas?
I think that we are supposed to believe that Ara is a prostitute, only to find out down the line that is not the case. But with that revealing top, I hardly believe she is reading bedtime stories to the elderly at some sanatorium.
Julian Gil can act despicable villain with no problem, I think here the direction is a little bit different, because Ernie has his very rare moments of humanity.

Nandicta, I think Kracy is speaking Special Telenovela Spanglish, where everything goes just because. Hiring an actual professional to teach her speak believable gringo Spanish would have been too much, all the budget probably went into making those lovely uniforms and Erasmo's construction attire (best money ever spent!).

Pablo, most episodes seem to be just blah, so I wonder how they plan to write this for the next 100 capitulos. YES on the retiring idea. I'm sure the patio could even throw him a nice going away forever party.

I hope they have an end game in mind for all of the plot lines they are introducing now besides the obvious w/Esperanza and Ricardo. This is just rambling so far.
