Sueño de Amor (SdA) #43. Friday May 6, 2016. At Long Last, My Precious Turtledove! We’ll Bump Knees And Make Sweet Acapulco Love!

Are you sure this is what the book said? You got the position number right?

At a glance

-- Esperanza got an engagement bling-a-ling in Mexico City and a bow chicka wow wow in Acapulco.
-- Everyone is still pondering Salma’s pregnancy and debating what to do about it. Everybody except Salma.

A closer look

Esperanza is at Casa Manzanares giving unsolicited advice to the suicidal pregnant rapist teen. The rest of Salma’s cheering squad is also there: Margarita, Mario and Kristel nod along to everything the self-appointed Dr. Nosey Parker says. Salma is instantly reinvigorated by the magical pep talk. Yay! ¡Abrazo Juaréver!

At Casa Alegría, Ricardo instructs Iker to analyze the ADN in Homero’s Elmer Fudd hat. Later, Pedro drops in to discuss the surprise ground-breaking ceremony (la ceremonia de la primera piedra) of Esperanza’s Elysian School. Ricardo has a surprise within the surprise for his novia

At Casa Guerrero, copious amounts of Lala string cheese are on display for your viewing pleasure.
It’s nighttime at Instituto Palacios and the homeless Silvana pretends that she is working late to be able to sneak in another night of haunted slumber in her office.
Boys and girls, there is a new estalkerr in Sueñolandia! Anastasia is following Luca around with a gun in her purse! I don’t even dare cross my fingers that she shoot him dead because I know that the TN Gods would never grant me this disturbing wish. When Luca visits Ernesto’s new bachelor pad, father and son talk about the human inflatable doll that they passed around between them. They recognize that she is so obsessive and desperate for money that it’ll be hard to get rid of her.

It’s the next day. Esperanza, the recently kidnapped, lets her kids blindfold her and take her to see her surprise. I don’t know if it’s the Rico Suave Effect or a desperate cry for ratings, but lately it seems that Peppy Espy has been displaying a lot more boobage than usual. Ricardo kisses her and takes off the blindfold. Ricardo’s children, the Gallo family, Luca and Mario are also there. Ricardo unveils the foundation stone of Esperanza’s school, which has “MAPA” engraved on it. Right underneath lies a commemorative plaque with the inscription: “This is the place where the future fills up with hope/esperanza”. ¡Sí, cómo no! However, the surprise is not over. Inside the foundation stone, there is an engagement ring. Ricardo gets down on one knee and proposes to his hope/Esperanza. She says yes to her joy/Alegría. Smooches from the happy couple and cheers from the happy crowd.

Kracy and Ernesto are enjoying his and hers massages and are being very vocal about it. They lament that their plotting to spoil Esperanza and Ricardo’s relationship isn’t advancing at all.

Salma tells Kristel that she is the reason why their father got sentenced to life with Silvana. No malice intended in this revelation. It’s just a little nugget of family history shared for informational purposes.

At the MAPA School ground-breaking ceremony, a priest blesses the project, but no Virgen de la Paz altar has been erected yet. Erasmo and Pedro exchange a few awkward lines about their involvement in the school project. Luca is being his unbearably and suffocatingly sweet self with his love duck. Me thinks Ricardo’s proposal is giving him ideas. I hope he proposes to Pato so they can get married very soon and move very far away. I hear Tabasco is nice. A character from “Pasión y Poder” moved to Tabasco and never came back. I pray that Pato and Luca have a blissful married life in Tabasco.

Esperanza thanks Ricardo for this little boost (empujoncito) he gave her project. He makes an indecent proposal (una propuesta indecorosa) to his future wife: a romantic getaway to Acapulco!

The massage session is over. Kracy and Ernesto are lounging in bathrobes and sipping bubbly. Ernesto doesn’t know if he can trust Kracy. She assures him that he can. She needs him because she is broke. Besides, sex with him is spectacular and both of them want to separate Esperanza from Ricardo. This is all it takes to put his mind at ease because he shows her the replica of La Sombra’s mask that he managed to get his hands on.

It’s food-o-rama at the MAPA School ground-breaking ceremony. However, nobody thought of setting a table and a few chairs for the poor construction workers. “Let them eat standing up!”, said the magnanimous Queen Marie-Esperanzette.

An innocent piano is harmed to film a scene featuring the Three Stooges. Too bad it didn’t crush them like it did their “Sueño de Horror” ice-cream cart!

At the MAPA School ground-breaking ceremony, Erasmo consoles his depressed little sister. Love is treacherous. It isn’t always flowers and music and candy in the sky. Like Adam Sandler said: Love stinks! Yeah yeah!

Mario visits Viviana at her new penthouse. He tells her that Ernesto forbade him to see her and threatened to fire him if he disobeyed his orders. Viviana doesn’t care, she is interested in Mario nonetheless. As Franz Liszt’s Liebestraum No. 3 (“Dream of Love”) plays in the background, they agree to start a secret romance.

Pre-Acapulco last preparations. Pedro tells his mom that he is going to quit his job at the antro. Pato agrees to babysit Ricardo’s kids for free, when there is a nanny hired to do that job. Ricardo informs Esperanza that he still has no news of Homero, his brother or their grandma since their disappearance.

Ernesto drops Kracy off at her house. She doesn’t know how his La Sombra-related plan (that he explained off camera) will benefit her but he can count on her support and discretion. The venturesome twosome bump into Esperanza and Ricardo and learn about their engagement. A few protests, punches, Over My Dead Body’s and Imma Kill You’s later, the sparring pairs call it a tie and agree to reconvene at the next round of their tedious pissing contest.

Pedro visits Casa Manzanares. He tells Margarita he is there to offer his support to the family but he’s really there to drool over Kristel. Whatevs.

The recently engaged couple is teleported to Acapulco and Esperanza already has a tan line. Maybe the airplane had a tanning bed. Romantic dinner, candles, flowers, champagne, flirting, teasing, kissing. They are trying very hard to make us feel the sexual tension that, supposedly, fills the air. Frankly, I’m more interested in the nervous waiter who doesn’t know what to do in front of the camera. Esperanza and Ricardo move their seduction game to the suite and it looks like a garden vomited in there. They have a hot tub! Yay! Aquatic first time nookie! Nope, they prefer the bed. Actually, they kneel on top of the bed, with their shoes still on and face each other. They’ve been waiting for this moment for 20 years. Normal people would rip each other’s clothes off in 2 seconds flat, as soon as they close their hotel room door. But our protagonists are anything but normal. They whisper sweet nothings to each other as their bodies slide closer and closer in their awkward kneeling position. Their knees touch, their lips touch. You will have to wait until Monday to discover whether the shoes come off or not during Esperanza and Ricardo’s first noche de pasión

A quote from the capítulo

“Y ahora resulta que yo soy el imbécil. No el hombre que le mintió a Esperanza. El hombre que la perdió para siempre. El hombre que abandonó a su hija. El hombre que es tan estúpido que cree que puede recuperar a Esperanza.”

*During this round of their never-ending pissing contest, Ernesto called Ricardo a “fool” and got schooled: “So now it turns out that I am the fool. Me instead of the man who lied to Esperanza. The man who lost her forever. The man who abandoned her daughter. The man who is so stupid that he believes he can win Esperanza back.” In all fairness, if you take out the child abandonment part, this is a perfect description of Ricardo when he got back from the States and started courting Esperanza. Just saying.

Hello Patio Pals! I'm subbing for Adriana tonight but, fear not, she will be back next Friday for two consecutive Fridays.

So many WTFs scenes in this episode which, in true SdA tradition, can be interpreted in diametrically opposed ways and inspire either a "What The Fff...fudge?" or a "Wasn't That Fun?" (Thank you Julia for this fun dichotomy! I will use it forever!) Either way, the best part of this show is our feisty little patio!

Enjoy the recap and the discussion! I'm curious to read your impressions about this episode. I won't be around much this weekend (double recap duty tomorrow + house guests) but I'll catch up with you Sunday night or Monday morning! Have a great weekend! Good night :)

Nandicta, thanks for the great recap and identifying the Liszt composition. Osorio is just stuffing this with all the "sueños" he can find and if they be "de amor" even the better. I did not notice the "bootage"'but then again I was making supper and watching with one eye if that. I find your choice of quotes interesting because as you aptly noted without the "hija" part it could apply to either Ricardo or Ernesto. Yes!!! Tabasco is far enough away to be the perfect destination for the love birds. Have a fun weekend!

So much fun seeing Silvana being harassed by building security guard Napoleón and his threat to tell Félix.

The fight between Ernesto and Ricardo was way too long. It would have looked much better if it had been much shorter. Ermesto threatening to kill Ricardo is supposed to make Esperanza want him?? Sure . . . Of course, they treated her as if she weren't there or capable of choosing who she wanted.

At least Andrés the "babysitter" was with Pato and the Alegría kids.

Interesting that Homero is still "desaparecido" disappeared along with Virgilio's and Granny. Did Daddy Sombra take them on a trip or are they hiding out from him.

It looked like Pedro regained a little hope when he found out that Kristel was still not with Erasmo and had broken Erasmo's heart.

Yay! Viviana is interested in Mario.

One thing I did "see" was that the transition from Margarita's house to Esperanza's and Ricardo"s hotel room was so quick because it looked like the sets were side by side. Funny.

"Are you sure this is what the book said? You got the position number right?" had me smiling away Nandicta.

Your recap was fantastic and I enjoyed it immensely more than the episode. The vocabulary was greatly appreciated.

"An innocent piano is harmed to film a scene featuring the Three Stooges. Too bad it didn’t crush them like it did their “Sueño de Horror” ice-cream cart!" were among my favorites.

I also thoroughly enjoyed Sil's discomfort under the watchful eye of the security guard. He wasn't the least bit intimidated by her. Was this a first? Oh how the mighty have fallen (and I'm unashamedly enjoying every second of it!)

"Interesting that Homero is still "desaparecido" disappeared along with Virgilio's and Granny. Did Daddy Sombra take them on a trip or are they hiding out from him." I hope it's the latter Jarifa - I am worried about Homero - he is one of my favorites here.

Speaking of favorites, outside of a few shots here and there, Kiko has been conspicuously absent from the storyline. Please bring him back so we can be spared any Pato/Luca scenes.

I wish I were enthused about Espe and Ricardo but I find I have only a mild curiosity as to what Espe is wearing and none whatsoever in the romance. If I have ever seen a more lame proposal (in front of the world including virtual strangers), I can't recall.

It's too bad that Erasmo is still mooning over Kristel. Let Pedro have her..

Thanks so much Nandicta.

Diana

Yes, thanks a lot! Pretty enjoyable!

Well... in case you were still wondering if Viviana got the boobjob done while still in a coma, I am sure she did. Her bewbz looked really shiny trying to get out of the yellow lacey dress...

I don't know if she did it on puropse, but she said ''reprecusiones'' when the correct word is ''repercusiones''.

Ricardo and Ernesto said they were civilized men, but behave more like cavemen.

When in Acapulco, Ricardo asked Esperanza how did she feel, and she said a lot of stupid things, did anyone who watch it with captions noticed what the caption lady wrote when she said gatita mojada? Wasnt it wet p*ssy? I know it was unintentional, but God, so funny! Coming from Esperanza, of course!

Also, I don't know when this recording in Acapulco was done, because Esperanza looked a lot slimmer in her red dress than with that tank top and the skirt. Aside from her (.Y.) Her body looked like a teenager's, all chubby with a little belly.

I don't watch this but the picture and caption is hyterical! Carlos would love it.

Thanks for the recap Nandicta! I only half watch this show sometimes, but I did catch most of this episode. The cleavage (on both Viviana and Esperanza) was very noticeable. lol I wasn't sure if that was a tank top Espy was wearing in Acapulco or just a bunch of matted threads.

Thank you for this fine entertainment! The picture and caption are a hoot. I may have FFed a lot of the epi, but didn't skip a word of the recap.

I was appalled that they gave Esperanza a groundbreaking with a sign that had extraneous quotation marks. She should have declined Ric's stupid proposal and broken up with him for that. Also, why was she wearing her skimpy lingerie top in public?

Yes, thank you for this entertaining recap. I think kra kra & erny should go on a trip and not return. Couldn't mario just tell erny to take a hike. Well maybe not cuz he'll need the money to help take care of the grand baby.

Ok thats all for now. Why is that school head mistress so dadgum mean. Did she have a kid out of wedlock? Poor man!!! Ok now thats
All for now.

Thank you all for stopping by over the weekend. Much appreciated, indeed. :)
