Sueño de Amor (SdA) #50. Tuesday May 17, 2016. A Valiant Recapper Has Joined Us, Just In Time To Document La Sombra's Capture! ¡Enhorabuena!
Labels: sda
I'm late for work and must skidaddle but here are a couple of quick impressions about this episode:
- Erasmo is too stoopid to keep them kneecaps. Estrella deserves endless brownie points.
- Kracy's new look gives her an air of a dangerous femme fatale as opposed to her usual look of inoffensive harebrained loon. Glad the gringo accent is gone though.
- La Sombra's masks must have suffocated any semblance of good judgement in him which led to his capture by the dumbest Interpol agent that ever lived. Seriously, why did this dude wear a Picasso mask then a Phantom of the Opera mask if he is not disfigured?
- Thank goodness for minimal Kristel sniveling in this episode.
Thanks again for the recap, Kino! Have a good day, everyone! :)
My favorite part: Pato calling Tracy "Cracy". Has someone been reading this blog? Who was it that came up with it? Nandicta? Pablo?
The "Altiplano" placement made me go "hmmm", too. humor? That might come back to bite them or at least let La Sombra come back to bite and terrorize Ricardo and company.
At least Estrella has a brain when it comes to the surgery money. At this point Erasmo gets what he deserves for his pride and what he knows is a bad decision.
Ernesto was so slick at his place carefully maneuvering his way through the conversation with Pato re: Ricardo, the kids , Esperanza, Tracy.
So, we know Ricardo cannot die but will he be injured and end up in a hospital bed next to Esperanza (just presuming she will have a serious medical problem since this is the second time with the same symptoms)? Maybe the bomb will be a dud. Can Marjorie arrive soon, please, just to add a little variety to the suffering experienced by so many?
"What did Nacho call him? Flaco, debilucho, y feo. (Skinny, weak, and ugly. Right.)" was my favorite line of many.
Thank you so much for translating the conversation between Ernesto and Pato. I wasn’t sure how Ernesto felt about Esperanza any more. I know he loved her but I thought the feelings were diminishing. Jarifa, "slick" is the perfect word to describe how he danced around his daughter's questions. I apologize for repeating this but Julian Gil has never been as appealing to me as he has been here. Flashes of a genuine smile and some true goodness (amidst the evil) are interesting and different for his character.
I'm impatient and perturbed that Erasmo is being so thick headed Nandicta. Surely he realizes the danger he has put himself in? This will not end well.
Kino, yes, Marco is the new villain who will be showing up shortly. He was a third tier galan in PyP, very sweet. And very handsome. But I will always remember him as a dastardly doctor in Querida Enemiga. I think this part may well rival that.
I have many ideas floating around in my head as to things that might happen but I won't speculate. Never a dull moment and I think the excitement will mount.
Thank you again!
Diana
I felt sorry (ternurita) for that fake fight and really wanted la sombra to shoot Ricardo. I know Osorio didn't kill Esperanza in episode 20 (but maybe he will now) and is not going to kill Ricardo in episode 50, but if they are so desperate for raitings, why not?
Why replacing the female lead and not the male?
Why not kill Ricardo and bring Marco with all the hoopla they have been making for Super Marjorie the telenovela saviour?
Hopefully Ricardo will die today in the blast so we can start from scratch with a new galán for at least another 50 episodes.
Diana, I so agree about Julián Gil. As a matter of fact, I wish that the novelas were not so tied into limiting leading roles to those who they consider to be the most " physically attractive." It would be great to see someone like a Julián Gil (who is a good looking guy but always stuck in the villain role) as a leading man much like Erik Elías is the leading man over on "El hotel de los secretos". I hate to see actors so tightly "typed" as good guys/bad guys.
OT: On my soap box: (nothing new but I just have to say it after reading all of the mainstream "up fronts" news this a.m.) With new distribution platforms growing daily and normal tv in probably its greatest upheaval ever just due to these new outlets, it looks like telenovelas are going to have to do something more innovative to keep people watching. Times are a changing very quickly and so is the availability of more varied and original content. Now, I will step off my box and into recapping tonight's episode. : )
To me, it's always been about the charisma. One of my favorite actors is Fabian Robles. Now, to me he is good looking but he is a real "shape changer" and can (and does) adapt to any role. Ditto for Alberto Estrella.
Sexy is as sexy does.
I agree with your comments about the future of TNs and of course, you made your point perfectly. It's such a shame because there is so much talent but apparently good writing is sparse. I know there are talented writers but they are not being utilized. Things need to be shaken and stirred - definitely.

From the ominous doctor visit, I did wonder (for the first time) last night if Esperanza is going to be killed off. My pure speculation.
This fine actress has been stellar and if she is being sacrificed for better ratings, shame on Osario.
I am hoping this is a red herring and that she and Ricky will live happily ever after (simply because that is her wish, not mine).
Huge sigh.

Let's say this novela is not resulting what they thought and their first impulse is to ADD MORE PEOPLE instead of changing the writing team and/or improve the plot without altering the characters we already know and love/hate. What would a smart person do?
Adding a new character, in this case a gorgeous woman (and a handsome man, more discreetly maybe because he is not considered novela saver, so she takes all the credit after all), instead of taking more care of the plots and the lack of, for me, if I was Ms Monroe, would be humilliating.
Not all novelas have to have a lead that is perfect in every way. Normal sized women with curves culd be more appealing to most of people. But anyway, I just don't want Monroe to be sacrified for something she didn't do, when her only mistake was to trust Osorio in the hopes to get the protagonist role she never had with Azteca. Big mistake!
Betty is one of my favorite characters here and I thought she was tailor made for the role. She and Christian could have been a great couple had they had any sort of decent storyline. I saw some definite chemistry possibilities.
Jarifa, again, I wasn't a Pedro Fernandez fan but I was pleasantly surprised and thought he was doing great in HEFDM. I didn't realize HOW great he was until David arrived. Yikes. Nothing against David, but the earnestness that was so real with Pedro totally disappeared. I think Betty has the same quality along with believability.

A little underwhelming, if you ask me, but how long could they drag this story without making Ricardo a complete and total incompetent (some might argue that he's already there).
I feel like the story is taking a serious turn. La Sombra is caught, Marjorie is about to show up, Erasmo is thinking about Pato (wow, that IS a surprise!)...
I hope they don't kill off Esperanza, I love Betty Monroe, she has been a refreshing surprise. I came here for Cristian de la Fuente, but I'm sticking around for her and my recapping duties.
I don't understand why Marjorie is considered a tn savior? What tn has she saved? She played a sex bomb in the Eduardo Yanez tn and I think I read some critics about her stealing the spot light, so much so that they gave her a protagonico. But she didn't wow anyone playing the good girl and the Pedro Fernandez situation only made things worse.
I do know her from a couple of tns in Venezuela and she's a good actress (not to mention gorgeous), but I hope they don't push Betty Monroe aside for her, because they are completely different types, they shouldn't be put in a competition.
I love Julian Gil in this tn and I did see him play a protagonista in Quien eres tu? He was really good and believable, too. Aside from Betty, he's my favorite part about the story.
Jarifa, I almost didn't watch SdA because of Julián Gil, who was such a mean villain on Hasta el Fin del Mundo. His blend of narcissism and Machiavellianism were so believable.
