EVA – Lunes

I had some technical difficulties. DirecTV put a new receiver in my house this afternoon. Part of the early recording failed, and I was reduced to recording the later one. So, this won’t be very detailed. Hopefully, things will improve when the box downloads everything correctly.

Eva tells Adriana about what happened to Camila and that she has to appear in court.

Betty gloats to Marisol about Pablo sleeping with her one night. She tells her how she begged and manipulated to accomplish this and, of course, nothing sexual happened. Marisol tells her she needs to cut it out.

Armando avoids his bridegroom duties of the wedding night.

Adriana and Camila bond. After what Eva told Adriana about Camila’s past, Adri sees her with new eyes. Camila admits her fears of testifying. They both talk about how they didn’t like each other much at first. They embrace. I think the days of “Bad Cami” are over.

Pablo is disgusted by Betty trying to get him to come to bed with her again. He says he isn’t going to sleep with her anymore, and that she should not expect anything from him except concern about his child.

Robert, the least successful businessman in LA, begins to advise Luis. Since business is down at Panchopan [because of Robert’s contaminating the sausages; something he doesn’t mention], Robert suggests that he lay off some employees to increase profits. Luis feebly says that Pancho’s way was to work cooperatively with the employees.

Adri and Cami have found Virginia’s ex on the internet. He’s opened a pharmacy right there in LA. Virginia plans to make him suffer.

Eva has taken Fabi to school. She and Pablo spar a bit. She reminds him of his calling her una bruta.

The husband of the guy Martín and JJ were following comes into Agencias Contreras to raise hell. Martín advises him not to get in Pablo’s face, but he doesn’t listen. Pablo beats him up.

Armando finds out that Marlene ordered trucks to go to México without his knowledge. She tells him they had no choice; the thugs insisted.

Luis is at a board meeting. He suggests asking for a bank loan to finance a big publicity campaign. The board doesn’t agree. Luis tries to impose his will on them [a la Robert] but his attorney advises him this was not Pancho’s way.

Eva is in the hospital visiting Soraya when Cinthia shows up. [Robert had given her some marching orders that we didn’t hear him say; this was probably what she was to do.] Eva tells Soraya that Cinthia is not a friend, rather a bad person.

Gabriel, the kindly guy who gave Eva her first route has given her another one on top of the one she already has: into Nevada. He also mentions a friend, Gerardo Díaz, who does fireworks shows all over the country. Gabriel has recommended that Eva meet him and possibly get the job of moving the stuff around.

Eva talks to Evencio about this meeting with Gabriel. If she gets this new business, she’d like to buy 3 more trucks, one of them refrigerated.

Evencio is at Mon-Sol and talking to the guys there about possibly needing new drivers at Soler e Hijas. Gusano overhears and runs right to Marlene. Armando appears and agrees they have to do something about this.

Camila points out Nicolás in the courtroom as her abuser.

Eva

thanks so much novelera, another wonderful recap!

I guess there is nothing to stop Robert now, (and why is no one looking into the accident), sure hate to see him getting involved in the business, Pancho was right in that what Robert does best is wreck businesses.

I think Damian reminded Luis that he was only half owner as long as Soraya was still alive, (did he have to say it like that) which kind of puts the brakes on as far as Luis declaring himself boss and we all do what I say.

sounded like hauling the fireworks pays a lot better too.

yeah, Eva laid it on pretty thick with Pablo, he was smoking by the time he got back to the office, but Martin did warn the husband, this was not the time to pick a fight.

ah but at the trial, when Eva starts in on him again, and Pablo's tries to cut her short, she says, I just don't like people yelling at me, especially if what they are saying is the TRUTH, (is that a Eva Soler apology?) I think Pablo took it as a good sign.

but she did say that yes, business is good, but without credit she can't buy more trucks.

and Cami hugged the step-daughter that was being abused after Marisol brought them together.

Eva

Many thanks, novelera, for not letting all the technical difficulties thwart you from doing a fine recap. I chuckled over your wonderfully understated "Armando avoids his bridegroom duties of the wedding night."

I might add that the thugs did more than insist that the trucks go to Mexico. They threatened to kill Marlene, Armando, and Andy if they didn't carry out the thugs' orders.

Luis is such a puzzling character. Earlier, he really seemed to be on to the Monteverdes' motives, and he also had seen Robert's inept business sense. And yet now he takes Robert's business advice as if it were the voice of God. Huh?

I'm happy that Eva is getting more business, but the fireworks shipment makes me nervous. It pays more because it's more dangerous. I hope this won't turn out to be another nasty plot point.

Speaking of nasty plot points, Betty has been listening to everything being said at Pablo's, and at times the look on her face suggests that she's still looking for ways to sabotage Eva and Evencio and bring Pablo to her side.

Eva

Deb, thanks very much for your comments. Last night we had bad weather here, and they kept cutting off the sound from the telenovela to make announcements warning everyone about the storm and advising people to move to the lowest level of their house and avoid windows. In my neighborhood, the storm itself didn't affect the TV reception, but the frequent announcements made it harder to follow what was happening in the novela. For example, I missed Eva's saying to Pablo that she doesn't like people yelling at her esp. when they are telling the truth. Of course, it's also possible that my Spanish simply failed me yet again, but as long as I have a better excuse, I'll use it! :-)

Eva. Great recap, novelera! I too worry about the fireworks shipments, Juanita. Think of the amount of mischief Marlene and co. could do if they found out about them! Eva and Pablo seem to have reached a bantering stage now, which is a good sign. I suspect that something will happen to get Luis to come around to Pancho's business practices--either a stiff lecture from Damián or something overtly nasty on Robert's part. And the Revenge of the Furies has begun! It should be entertaining. Wonderful that Camila and Adriana are now friends.

Eva

Interesting how our minds work. You all were nervous about the fireworks shipments, and you may be right. I'm thinking that Gerardo Díaz, a guy we have yet to meet might fall for Eva.

EVA

I'm nervous too! It was the first thing I thought when they mentioned the fireworks. These will be delicate shipments. And now that the gusano knows all, Eva's not safe. Sorry I've had no time to comment; I'm swamped with deadlines. But thanks all for keeping the show on the road.

Also really thrilled about the heart-to-heart between Adri & Camilla. I'm expecting the black eyeliner to lessen gradually as her self-esteem and confidence grow. I see it as a form of body armor. Adri is her mother's daughter. She the compassion, when she's not too troubled to find it. I'm thinking the same about Luis. Poor kid. Whipsawn between love and loyalty to his new real padres and the expectations (malignant, tho unbeknownst to him) of the people who bought him & brought him up.

Eva

I'll have a recap of tonight's episode up sometime tomorrow morning.

Escalva

wow, this keeps getting better,

let's see,

the slave women hate the Marquesa, who they say ordered the whipping (death) of the kidnapper, but Milagros is greatful.

Victoria asks Nicholas for bars on her windows, which leaves her alone with Tomas, the blacksmith, who thanks her for saving Milagros' life, she would have bled to death in the stocks from the bullet wound, and asks the Marquesa to be careful, with tears in her eyes, Victoria doesn't reveal herself to her papa.

Adela thinks the Marqesa is whacko coming to the aid of a slave in her undies, the priest says she has been through a lot, give her time.

Eugenia and Alonso unveil their cacoa machine, but it falls apart (Nicholas had sent Morales over there the night before) and they lose their investor Mr. Hardy, Eugenia knows it's Nicholas' fault and as they discuss the matter they duck into a room and have a quicky, Eugenia thinking this squares it with them, but Nicholas says he doesn't mix business with pleasure.

Adela knows what's up, and Victoria almost catches them.

Nicholas takes Victoria riding and has Miguel come along, she rides sidesaddle, and makes it work until Nicholas whips the horse and she takes off, eventually falling off with Miguel to the rescue, she reveals herself to him, he is floored, they hug but here comes Nicholas, Miguel takes the blame, something about the saddle and gets struck, later to be put in the stocks for a time but he goads Morales into whipping him instead, he has things to do, that can't wait.

while Adela (Nicholas' mom) plies Remi with pastries and alcohol, pumping her for information, until Remi pukes, and goes to her room.

Eugenia tries to reconcile with Mr. Hardy but he has a new partner, and along comes Nicholas, this isn't over she tells him.

Miguel sneaks into the house, Rosa thinks he has come to see her, (no matter how many times he tells her there is never going to be anything between them, she just doesn't get it) and sneaks up to Victoria's room, they have some time together, Remi is passed out, she sees his back from the whipping, it didn't hurt he says, I could only think of you, but Nicholas returns and wants a little, not till we are married is the Marquesa's reply with Miguel behind the door, he wants in but she takes him downstairs.

........................

in thinking back to the first episode, Victoria is the rightful heir to the Eden plantation, Nicholas (who thinks she's dead), Morales (who hopes she is), Tomas and the Priest are the ones who know this, I'm wondering how this will play out.

Esclava

hmm, how many different ways can we spell esclava?

Eva

duh, the prosecuting attorney was Ramona, mr. Jacobs housekeeper in "Bajo el mismo cielo", took me a while.

I keep waiting for Eva to stick Camila in one of those big rigs and let her have a go at it.

Armando had a pretty good run at being a decent guy, I wonder if seeing all his drivers hiring on with Eva will change things?

Esclava

oh, and Adela searches Victoria's room after Remi gets drunk, and finds the necklace.

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 1 de 3

The episode opens with Camila on the stand about to testify against her
stepfather, Nicholas Chavez. The prosecuting attorney says the jury needs a detailed account of the abuse Camila suffered. Camila says she was barely thirteen when her mother remarried. At first, Chavez was very warm and paternal. But after her mother went to bed, he became very different. She goes on to describe his abuse and her despair. She ends her testimony by saying that she wants to see whether the saying is true that "justice takes a long time, but it always arrives" (la justicia tarda pero siempre llega).

The saying is true, at least this time: the jury finds Chavez guilty, and the judge sentences him to thirty years in a maximum security prison. He is led away screaming and accusing Camila of being the worst zorra of them all. Camila is embraced by all her new "family": Eva, Federica, Bertha, Virginia, and Adriana, along with Marisol, Luis, Martin, and Pablo, all of whom are at the trial.

As everyone is filing out of the courtroom, Pablo asks to speak with Eva. He tells her he owes her an apology and would like to make that apology in private, so would she have dinner with him. She looks as if she's about to agree when Betty the Perra suddenly appears and calls Pablo's name. She claims she suddenly has a pain in her belly and needs Pablo to take her to the hospital. Pablo, Eva, and most of Viewerville stare at her coldly. Indeed, Pablo seems about to refuse her request but, of course, she collapses in front of him and he winds up carrying her to his car and heading to the hospital.

At the hospital, the doctor assures Pablo that Betty is resting and is feeling much better [of course]. Pablo asks the doctor whether there's any possibility that Betty is pretending that she's not well. The doctor doesn't know, but Viewerville does.

Betty soon returns to Pablo's house. He tells her he's going out. She accuses him of going to see Eva. Pablo acknowledges that that's exactly what he's going to do. He accuses Betty of coming to the trial in order to screw up his life (fastidiarme la vida) and he warns her to stop interfering between Eva and him.

Betty has left the hospital, but Soraya has not. She has what seems to be a dreadful nightmare in which she sees the head of a frightening demon. She screams for help. Nurses and the doctor arrive, and Soraya tells them about a demon who came into her room and wanted to kill her. Not surprisingly, everyone thinks she's crazy, and the doctor asks the nurse to summon the psychiatrist. No one notices Cinthia lurking in the corridor holding a very scary rubber Halloween mask. Clearly this was part of the plan that Robert and she concocted in the previous episode.

The psychiatrist comes to see Soraya. Luis enters the room, and Soraya tells him about the demon who came to kill her, and that everyone, including the psychiatrist, thinks she's crazy. "Pancho, please tell her that I'm not crazy." Luis looks at her helplessly. "Pancho, do you too think I'm crazy?" All he can do is murmur "No. I love you." Afterward, Luis and the psychiatrist talk in the hallway. The psychiatrist tells him that some of the problems Soraya is having are not unusual in patients recovering from a coma, but the business about the demon doesn't fit the usual pattern. The psychiatrist is worried.

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 2 de 3

Meanwhile, at Mon-Sol, Armando is talking to Don Manuel, the man Armando had earlier persuaded not to give credit to Eva. Now Armando is asking just the opposite: he wants Don Manuel to give Eva as much credit as she needs to grow her new business. He says he'll even be a secret guarantor (fiador secreto) if Don Manuel wishes; he asks only that Eva know nothing about his involvement. Don M. asks why he has changed his mind. Armando replies that he was an imbecile, that he didn't know what he had until he lost her.

Armando seems clearly intent on winning Eva back. [Perhaps he drank so much alcohol at his wedding to Marlene that he doesn't remember the event?] He asks Marta to buy some presents for him for his daughters, and to let no one know that she and he are allies. Marta agrees, but when she returns with a shopping bag and goes into Armando's office, Marlene the Omnipresent sees her. When Marta leaves the office, Marlene grabs her by the arm and asks what she was doing. "Do you think that because you do things for my husband I can't fire you? Come to my office!" Once in her office, Marlene continues interrogating Marta, finding out that she bought a new-model laptop for Adriana and drawing tools for Fabiola. "How much did they cost?" Marlene asks. Marta tells her to please ask her husband, she was just doing what he requested. Marlene isn't pleased, but she apparently doesn't fire Marta.

Telemundo offers us a PSA involving Eva and Camila. Camila admits that she's still shaken, and that she feels she has come through a terrible nightmare. Eva praises her for being courageous, for confronting the situation and speaking up. Now she will be able to make a bright future, which she deserves. The PSA is finally interrupted by a phone call from Don Manuel, asking Eva to meet with him.

When Don M. and Eva meet, he explains that he has changed his mind, and that she can now have credit to buy all the camionetas she wants. Eva is surprised and suspicious. She senses that Armando may be behind his change of heart. Don M. denies this. Eva tells him, "You betrayed me when I most needed you." It looks for a moment as if she will turn down his offer, but she doesn't: "I don't just want the camionetas, I need them."

Martin tells Federica that he dreamt of her. "I hope it was a pleasant dream," she says. No, he tells her, it wasn't. You and Bertha and the others were full of anger and showed me your teeth. "Oh, the Furies," Federica says. She assures him that the Furies only attack their enemies, not wonderful people like him. Martin says he wants to know more about the Furies. Federica says she has a serious question to ask him. How much would it cost to exhume her son's body? Martin says it's not just a question of money. It's a complicated process. At this point, Pablo arrives. He has come to see Eva. Federica and the other women tell Pablo that Eva isn't at home. Pablo says he'll wait. Martin leaves.

Federica tells Pablo that she wants to thank him for all he has done. She admits that at first she didn't trust him. He seemed too young, too childish, too inexperienced. But she has changed her mind. She sees now that he is a gentleman, intelligent, competent, a real man (un hombre a carta cabal).
However, he isn't handling well the situation with Betty. She shouldn't be staying in his house. Bertha agrees with Federica. Pablo tries to explain why Betty is there. The women aren't buying his explanation. Bertha tells him that if he can't put limits on his relationship with Betty, he should stay away from Eva. Federica agrees.

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 3 de 3

Martin returns to take Federica out. Pablo says he'll wait for Eva. Martin tells him he's wasting his time. Pablo insists he'll wait. Federica says, "Don't say you weren't warned." She and Martin leave.

Meanwhile, upstairs Adriana is having problems with her computer. She has to submit something to the university, and her old computer isn't cooperating. Virginia and Camila come into her room and ask her to come with them. They are going to go to the pharmacy of Virginia's ex-husband. Adri agrees that the university assignment can wait and goes downstairs with them. At that moment, Eva returns. She tells Pablo she's very busy, and she tells Virginia that she needs her to stay for a meeting that is about to occur. Adri and Camila leave to go to the pharmacy. When they get there, they see a notice in the window saying that the pharmacy needs employees. They enter, and an unctuous young man greets them, um, warmly, asking how he can help them. They say they saw the notice in the window and want to work at the pharmacy.

At Mon-Sol, Marlene comes into Armando's office with some pastry a client has left. She sees the shopping bag Marta had brought and asks whether Armando has bought a present for her. No, he says, it's not for you. She then asks him what he bought for his daughters. He tells her that he'll buy whatever he wants for his daughters whenever he wants to do so. "Tell me the truth," she replies. "Are you trying to win points with Eva Soler?" He reminds Marlene that he has told her the one area she shouldn't mess with is his relationship with his daughters. They're sacred to him, and they should be even more sacred to her.

Luis is on the phone with Damián. He tells Damián that he's going to do things his way, not Damián's. Damián warns him that he's going to ruin the business if he doesn't listen to advice. Luis agrees, and says that's why he has hired a consultant, who has just arrived. In walks Robert. [Viewerville screams in vain at the TV.]

Evencio arrives at Eva's with several new drivers. Eva explains her plans, and in response to some skeptical questions, she explains that although she currently has only one camioneta, she has just arranged to get credit for three more. Virginia is present and is taking notes. Eva has apparently found a way to include her in the business. Pablo realizes that Eva doesn't have time for him at that moment, and he leaves. Everyone present is excited about "Soler e Hijas." Suddenly Armando arrives. He looks around and asks what his people are doing there. "They're not your people," replies Eva. "You're looking at the new workers for Soler e Hijas." End of episode.

Eva

I should have included the current stepdaughters of Nicholas Chavez among the people who embrace Camila after the trial.

Eva. Excellent and very complete recap, juanita! 1 enemy down and 4 (or 5, if you count the chauffeur) to go! I love the way the Revenge of the Furies is structured. While Camila was preparing for her testimony, Adriana was tracking down Virginia's ex-husband. While the junior Furies Adriana and Camila are going undercover in the pharmacy, Federica is arranging with Pablo to get her son's body exhumed, etc. Btw, I thought the acting on the stand by the young actress playing Camila was excellent! I wonder if what JJ said about Betty faking health problems so many times that when she really has one no one will believe her is foreshadowing. I hope the Cintia disguised as a devil theme doesn't drag on too long--but otoh, Cintia as a devil! How fitting! Also, I'm glad to see that Adri is taking one or more university class. It shows she's not letting the marriage with Andy and her pregnancy wreck her life. And good observation, juanita, about her fundamental kindness.

Eva. I do wonder how they will handle Camila's other job while she's working in the pharmacy. 2 different shifts?

Eva

Many thanks, SpanProf, for your kind words about the recap and your great comments. Yes, Cintia really is a devil. Indeed, she could probably play the role without the Halloween mask. Though Robert is even more of a devil, and he has even less need for a mask. :-)

I bet you're right that Betty will cry wolf one time too many.

Eva

Did anyone else sense that there may be a relationship about to brew between Virginia and Eva's new hire, Enrique Arenas?

Eva

another very enjoyable recap Juanita!

maybe they skimped on the involvement of the step daughters because they are minors.

loved "[Perhaps he drank so much alcohol at his wedding to Marlene that he doesn't remember the event?]" as an explanation why Armando has been so nice lately, and he hasn't been drinking, but mr. and mrs. Armando do wear their best fake smiles when they are together.

and Don M. seemed to like Armando's confession to being an idiot.

Eva. 7 villains if you count Robert and Cintia, but the Furies don't realize the extent of their evil yet.

Eva

Absolutely fabulous recap, Juanita! You got it all, and with snark to spare. Yep, we all screamed at the TV when Luis (maybe he’s back to being Bobby the Baboso) put the cat among the pigeons by hiring his nearly bankrupt daddy to help him right the ship [too many metaphors, maybe?].

I also saw the look Enrique gave Virginia. If anyone needs a kind man, it’s Ginny.

I’m wondering how Armando is going to react tonight. He told La Alacrana they’d have to do something about Eva after she overheard the hospital conversation about hiring away their drivers. He may just be fronting to Marlene but still plans to help Eva.

God, that was despicable what Cinthia did. I guess they’re dragging out the inevitable fall of the Monteverdes. Luis (aka Bobby the Baboso) doesn’t seem like he’s catching on to them anytime soon.

Betty doesn’t change, does she? I also thought the remark about crying wolf was foreshadowing. Maybe they’ll go with the little girl she’s carrying being saved but she doesn’t make it. There’s no way she’d ever stay out of Pablo and Eva’s lives.

Eva

Wow, novelera, I'm thrilled with your response to the recap and your terrific comments about the episode. Muchísimas gracias.

Novelera: On "Eva la Trailera", the villains there are getting way out of control with their sinister plots, etc.,

I am new here, and I love your recaps, there help me understand the novella since I don't understand Spanish and my cc in English isn't working. Great job you guys. Love y'all.

Welcome, Angelica! We love to hear from newbies. So, are you watching Eva la Trailera? I'm trying to watch both Eva and La Esclava Blanca, but I can't manage both every night, so the Esclava episodes usually sit until the weekend. I like it, though.

Angelica, I too would like to welcome you. ¡Bienvenida! As one of the recappers for Eva la Trailera, I'm especially pleased to hear that you're finding the recaps helpful. Please don't hesitate to add to the discussion.

Eva la trailera... epi 68, Wednesday
part 1

Armando is at Eva's, the truckers leave, he has presents for the girls, que? and in come the girls (everyone is teleporting in this chapter because Cami and Adri were just at the pharmacy) so Eva leaves them alone, and Adri asks her Dad what's up?

JJ who was putting the moves on Marisol, can't perform,

Luis is asserting himself at the PanchoPan board meeting, if they have no credit, they have to fire people, Damian explains with severance expenses they won't gain anything, another tries to explain they are a family and can't do this, which causes Luis to fire him, anyone else?

Adri gets a new laptop, Fabi a drawing set with many colors, (and I get an open mouth at how nice Armando is being), when Adri asks why he's not like his usual self, Armando says he's lost without his girls.

Cinthia is still lurking at the hospital waiting to catch Soraya alone, Robert, on the phone tells her to attack, she does grabbing the sleeping Soraya, who jumps up and pulls off the mask and won't let her go, (I'm loving this), and here come the nurses, curtains for Cinthia, nope, she grabs the mask and ducks out as the nurses deal with Soraya. (but surely Soraya will tell someone what Cinthia did, nope)

Eva relieves her daughters and asks Armando what's up, he just came to see his wife, you have a wife Eva reminds him, I'll get a divorce, it's all falsa you know that, says Armando, I'll be the man you always wanted me to be, I'll forget about your fling with Pablo, etc.etc. as Eva slides in her vow to get rid of her enemies, first Marlene then you, but you love me, Armando says as he leaves, glad you think so Eva murmurs, that will make it easier for me.

Martin and Federica, home from a date are giggling like teenagers, Martin thinks they should go to the next step, Federica says she's old fashioned, good things come to those who wait.

Armando arrives home to meet strange man outside his house only to learn it's Marlene's ex husband, and he to learn Armando is her latest acquisition. mr. Ex warns Armando, Marlene will stab you in the back /kill you, when you least expect it, tells of his time in prison for a crime he didn't commit, about how Marlene and Andy are like the plague, they take out everything in their path, they tricked their parents out of the family fortune, the suffering killed their mother, and their father committed suicide.

Marlene, Andy, Gusano, and Elsa check out their new secret bank account in the Gran Caymans for the deposit from their Mexican partners, and everyone is impressed. Andy wants his cut in cash.

Cinthia stashes the mask and runs into Luis, screeching how Soraya attacked her, and later meeting with the psychiatrist to give Damian enough info to have her declared incompetent, *poof* Eva appears and drags Luis over to the psychiatrists office to bring him back to reality, while instructing Damian to keep Cinthia away from Soraya, but wait, did Luis say he wanted to declare her incompetent because it was tying his hands running the company ?? Eva reminds him what a wonderful person Soraya is, Luis is worried about putting the company on hold, it's just for a little while, Eva says.

while Pablo and Diego are doing his home work Dinosaur style, JJ pops in with his performance problem, fortunately Diego isn't getting it and goes to watch some tv, while Pablo scolds JJ, luckily Diego's interest isn't up to this or we would have been in for an exhaustive investigation, ok, ok, so they talk privately, things were all going well for JJ until he remembers that she was raped, and that was the end of that, will it be permanent JJ wonders.

Eva la trailera... epi 68, Wednesday
part 2

Virginia, Adri , and Cami are talking strategy, need to watch who the big customers are, addicts? and what drugs are being sold, and most of all be careful, Virginia is going to love every minute of this.

Armando goes into the house followed by Marlene and is the loving husband (how long has he been a nice guy, is my clock right) and things move right along till he mentions mr. Ex, what's this about Marlene asks, retroactive jealousy Armando explains, well that doesn't stop the sex, but in the glow he brings up the mr. Ex again, Marlene wants to know what's up, but you never told Eva and me about him, Marlene wants Armando to stop referring to him and Eva as a pair, are you jealous Armando asks, no says Marlene, it's just that what's mine is mine.

late at night Eva comes across Adri reading on the web about how drugs affect unborn babies, Eva closes the laptop, and eases her fears.

next morning the still nice Armando is off to work, but Marlene stays behind, and she is on the phone with Andy, get over here, Marlene isn't buying Armando's excuses to see the girls, she wants to know if he's seeing Eva, well how am I going to do that, Andy says, when everyone in Eva's house hates him, wait, he remembers Camila, but leaving the house he gets nervous, checks his gun, and as he walks away, we see mr.Ex in the bushes.

Pablo takes Diego to school, only to find out Eve is not bringing Fabi, Adri is.

Luis is at the Monteverde's and Robert is laying it on thick, where did you get all these ideas, oh don't tell me it was, *poof* there is Eva walking into the room, who plays into their hick story, but says Luis is not a child he is capable of making his own decisions, is that a smile on Luis' face?

and as Cinthia tries to throw her out (and is Robert hovering almost unseen behind her), but Eva just came to see Luis, and besides it stinks in here. Luis and Eva go over to Pancho's house to talk, Pancho was letting her use some of PanchoPan's land to park her truck but now she is getting more trucks and needs the land to set up her company, (just for a while) and wants to know if it's still ok (and Eva is really moving this business along), Luis knows of the arrangement, and Yes, she can use the land for as long as she wants.

Martin and Federica go to the cops, they inquire about exhuming her son, how long ago was this Fajardo asks, 1 year 4 months, hmm, it has to be at least 2 years unless you get a court order, of which you will need proof, (and I guess Leila is currently being held for making false statements)

Cami is off to her first day at the pharmacy, and who's at the curb waiting for her, Andy, who runs his charm, hard to read Cami's take on this.

as Marlene puts on her makeup, she ponders this change in Armando, but is interrupted by Noemi, there is a guy to see you, says he is family, what?

and down the big stairs (that not a single person has fallen on) to meet,,,
mr.Ex,

"happy to see me, mi amor"

(but what I'm waiting for is to see if Armando extends his good guy streak into tomorrow's show).

Eva

Thanks so much, deb, for this fantastic recap! Loved Eva's *poofing at just the right moments. And yes, I too detected the hint of a smile on Luis' face when Eva said he was able to make his own decisions.

I kept waiting for Soraya to expose Cinthia, or at the very least to explain that she was able to pull a rubber mask off the person's head. My guess is that she will eventually tell Eva that the person Eva identified as "evil, not a friend" was the one who came into her room with the mask on.

If Adri hadn't told Camila about what an a$$hole Andy had been to her, Camila might succumb to Andy's wiles. But given that she knows what an awful person he is, it's hard to see her falling into his trap. Then again, this is a telenovela, so reality and common sense don't count for much.

I'm curious to see what Marlene's ex is up to. He knows how dangerous she and her brother are, so why has he set foot into the lion's den?

Eva. Excellent recap, deb! Very complete and insightful. Juanita: Maybe Mr. Ex is a male Fury: Nemesis? I was hoping a janitor or someone would discover the devil mask in the trash can, but it was not to be. I loved the JJ-Pablo-Diego scene, especially when Pablo explained how Diego is prone to obsessions and Pablo doesn't want sexual dysfunction to be one of them. It's possible that JJ's inability to perform because of thinking about what happened to Marisol in adolescence is because he's becoming a more sensitive person and ultimately more worthy of her. Marlene's ex actually seems to feel sorry for Armando. For Luis to accept Robert's advice and start running the company in such a hard-nosed way, he has to have forgotten a number of episodes in the earlier part of this novela! Another example of sloppy writing, it seems to me. Love how Eva has the capacity to encourage and cheer up everyone from Soraya to Luis to Adri to Camila, etc. She should be the one advising Luis on business--beyond what she is already doing. Armando's gifts were surprisingly thoughtful--Adri desperately needs a new computer and it's unlikely that Eva could afford such elaborate drawing supplies. This man can not be long for the world! And I noticed that Eva and the nice woman psychiatrist who--coincidentally--was the one who lobbied for Fabi's release from the mental hospital--are on a first name basis. That should be helpful for Soraya.

Eva. LA not only seems to have only 1 general hospital but 1 psychiatrist.

Thank you all so much for recaps and comments. My schedule this week is prohibitive. So I've missed much. Thanks for filling in all that great detail.

SpanProf, I agree that Luis' callous decisions re PanchoPan suggest that the writers are either very sloppy or suffering from dementia. And I too was hoping that someone would find the Halloween mask in the hospital's trashbin. But since they didn't (at least, not yet--there's still hope), I'm assuming/hoping/praying that Eva's earlier warning to Soraya will pay off, that Soraya will mention that she pulled off the mask and saw the same face.

Eva. Amen, Juanita!

Deb, I loved your recap. “Everyone is teleporting!” So true.

They sure like red herrings these writers. So we get all excited when Soraya pulls off the mask. But, as deb said, “nope”. Cinthia is NOT revealed as the demon. And Bobby the Baboso returns – twice! First he tries to follow the advice of his Failure Father and cut costs at Panchopan by getting rid of valued employees. Doubtless this is Daddy Dearest’s method of having more cash to siphon off. Then he believes his lying mother, who’s lied to him his whole life, about Soraya having attacked her. And he’s ready to put this wonderful woman in the booby hatch.

I’m sure that Mr. Ex plans to be a male Fury. Marlene took everything from him and he spent years in prison. I found Mr. Ex’s name. It’s Reynaldo Santa Cruz. Tonight’s conversation with her should be veeeeeery interesting.

Bobby the Babosa saying something about having Soraya committed had something to do with her ownership of half of all Pancho’s properties. But it only makes Telenovela Sense that her being incapacitated for a period of time would affect the running of the business. They didn’t spell it out, but I’m sure that having her put away was part of Robert’s plan to get everything into his not-so-capable hands.

Yep, we all wonder how long Armando’s “good guy streak” will continue.
