Yago #8. Wednesday May 11, 2016. A Broken Home
This recap is brought to you by our recapper and Patio regular, Princess Juju. Enjoy!
- Bruno, Jonas and Melina are falling apart, they won't tell each other the secrets they hold and Melina is drowning in sadness.
- Bruno and Jonas argue about Melina's treatment and they later make up and agree to stick together; they always have.
- Flashback: Yomar's family is so happy, it actually hurts to see this knowing what's coming ahead, they are all very proud of Yomar for working on his degree.
- Flashback: Yomar and Bruno bond, Bruno's voice over tells us that Yomar was his here and always brought light, happiness and laughter to everyone he met. Buy the way this is exactly how Sara described Ambar to Yago.
- Flashback: Yomar gets set up and the family picks sides, Jonas feels Yomar was guilty and refuses to visit him in jail, Melina and Bruno on the other hand refuse to believe that Yomar committed the crime and stand by him.
- Flashback: little Bruno gets into a fight with his friends because they call his brother a killer, they all beat him up in the play ground.
- Flashback: argument between Jonas and Bruno, Bruno says Yomar is innocent and then that snake Lucio pulls the boy aside and tells him that people change, that Yomar became greedy and wanted more, more,more and that he was responsible for the theft and murder of the security guard.
- Flashback: Yomar asks Melina and Bruno not to visit him in jail, seeing them hurts him deeply. Oh my gosh, I almost cried.
- Present time: Bruno has trust issues, he won't make things formal with Alejandra because he's afraid she will betray him the same way Sara betrayed Yomar.
- Yomar and his crew come up with a plan to keep Bruno busy:offer him a job making really good money, the idea is all Katia's.
- Yomar and the snake Lucio sign the contract for their new venture and Yomar uses this as an opening to get Bruno a job- all the while making it look like it was Lucio's idea. I want to punch Lucio in the face for calling Bruno his little brother.
- Meanwhile- Damian lurks and finds out that Lucio just closed a big deal.
- Sara agrees to give Damian the 5 million he asked for and makes a withdrawal from a Miami based bank account- too bad that's the money that Lucio needed to pay the interest to the loan shark.
- Lucio finds out that the bank account is empty and freaks out on his wife, at first it looks like she gives zero f*cks but later she tells Damian that he will have to wait for his money.
- Ambar is released from the hospital and goes home, she's happy to see that Damian is sticking around, and a bit sad because she can't get into Abel and the guy she does want probably won't want anything to do with her.
- Yago visits the Madrigal home and finds out that Damian is Ambar and Sara's father.
- Yago gets chummy with Ambar and when she kisses him he pulls away and then he makes a really bad joke about her almost going towards the light the last time they kissed, this gets him kicked out of the house.
- Bruno is offered the job is Yomar and turns it down- then he rethinks it and accepts the job.
- Katia and Yago bond and we learned her family cut her off.
- Teo takes Abel to a strip joint and then they get kicked out, we learned that Teo has/had a sister.
Now the best and most important part of the episode:
Damian is living with Sara and Lucio and his grandchild Matias. Damian is looking at some porn when Matias walks in on him and asks what he's doing, Damian closes his laptop and scolds Matias for not knocking before entering the room.
A day later while everyone is busy with Yago and other things, Matias sneaks into Damian's room and connects an external hard-drive to the computer- sadly for Matias he does not find porn but instead finds a copy of the casino security camera tapes that show Lucio and Able committing the robbery/ murder. Matias closes the laptop seconds before Damian comes into the room, he tells the Damian that he was just looking for games to play.
Damian kicks Matias out of the room and Matias goes outside and starts abusing a wall, and Yomar, who was kicked out of the house by Ambar bumps into him, he asks what's wrong and Matias tells him everything, including what he found in the laptop.
Oooooooooooooh. Yomar now knows where and who has the video tapes that could prove his innocence, out of the mouth of babes, right?

Hey beautiful peeps! Hope all is well. Sorry I couldn't join the discussion the past few days. Things have been manic this week and I'm 3 episodes behind for my two best TNs.

Por supuesto, Princess Juju! You're a life savior! That would be grand! I was just about to write that, whenever you have your recap and/or highlights ready, I would add them to the main body text. I've just done the same with Julie's and Vivi's highlights from Monday. Many thanks, indeed. :)

What I remember:
This episode was mostly from Bruno's point of view:
---Bruno idolized Omar
---Bruno & Melina would visit Omar in prison; Jonas didn't come because Jonas thought Omar was guilty (and Omar knew that's how Jonas felt)
---Omar told Melina & Bruno to stop visiting him in prison b/c he didn't want them seeing him like that. Bruno told him he would still write him letters.
---At Omar's funeral, Bruno & Melina were devastated. Lucio & Abel were there, as was Sara lurking in the background.
---Bruno would get teased in school & into fights because the other children called Omar a thief & murderer
---Lucio told young Bruno facts is facts, Omar is a thief & murderer. But Bruno & Melina never believed he was guilty.
Other news:
TeamYago opened the file that showed Damian or Alias (forgot the alias) requested to look at the security footage. Yago & Katia recognized the man & wondered why Sara said she didn't know the man when clearly she does.
Lucio was not happy Damian was staying with them. Later, Lucio found out Sara took money out of their account that he needs. When he confronted her about it, she gave him a Kanye Shrug and went back to doing her yoga.
Matias was looking for porn on Damian's computer but saw the security footage. Damian caught him snooping, Matias was all like "no wonder mom don't like you" and then discovered Matias had seen the security footage.
Yago came to visit Ambar and learned the mystery man from the video is Sara & Ambar's father (and Sara doesn't get on well with Damian). Oh, and Yago hired Bruno to do PR for his/Lucio's new venture. Bruno didn't want to take the job at first because he's a SERIOUS JOURNALIST (TM) but he needs the money and was assured by Yago he could hire whomever he wanted for his PR team.

When Damian opened the computer after Mat left the screen was blank. Mat had un-usb'd the security tape from the computer so Damian doesn't know Mat saw it. Which hopefully keeps Mat safe.
Sara's complete disregard for Lucio needing the money to pay the interest to the loan shark bothered me. Not an ounce of care shown. I get she's upset about the loan but pissing off the loan shark isn't going to help their situation.
Poor Bruno. His life was not easy after the robbery, especially at home where it looks like the parents couldn't get pass their grief to make a happy childhood for him.
Matias definitely takes after his parents. Boy he was cool under pressure from Damian.

Seeing how desperate he was to ease Melina's depression (for which she's on meds) and make her smile, was heartbreaking. I'm guessing he's going to hire Alejandra as part of his PR team. How long before those two figure out who Yago really is?
Another nice scene between Yago and Katia as he spoke about the pain of not being able to reveal himself to his family and embrace them, and she spoke about the pain of no longer having a family at all.

It's nice how free and loose Yago is with those people not in on his revenge scheme. He smiles so much around Ambar, was loving and playful with Mat and you could see how happy he was to be around Bruno. I almost thought he was being too intense with Bruno and that it might scare him off.
I just noticed that Jonas (Yago and Bruno's father) wears a hat in all his scenes (outside and indoors). Is that some kind of "signature" look or is there something he is hiding (besides a bald spot)?
Vivi: Bruno & Alejandra will likely find out about Yago's identity very soon, but will they keep it secret & avoid letting Lucio, Abel, Sara & the conspiracy group know ?
Sara didn't only destroy Omar but over a decade later Omar's family still suffers. Even Alejandra confronted Bruno about his inability to commit to her, someone he loves, fearful they would betray him as Sara betrayed Omar.
Sara can be one cool cucumber--is she actually hoping Lucio would meet his maker if the loan isn't paid off and she can set her sights on Yago?
Matias--what a kid. How old is this kid and he's already looking for porn?
Yago and Bruno working together is all kinds of AWWWWW. When he went to shake his hand, that had to kill him wishing he could just hug the pieces out of him. But this way, he keeps him close and safer too.
LOVED the scene with Yago and Katia. when she went to sit on his lap--definite bro/sister vibe there. I would love to see more background how they got together.

tquir - My guess is Katia's family is not really physically dead but dead to her because they wouldn't put up with the stunts she pulled before she got into recovery. Only a guess.

I didn't say it but I am very puzzled why there was only one guard there. A place like that would be surrounded by armed guards day and night. I smell a bait. But regardless our quartet was not a victim of circumstance. They destroyed lives by their own free will thus I hope that they receive their well deserved slice of Karma!

I know it always seems someone in the story has to be related or know someone else, but right now, I don't know that we've really seen a family that Katia would have belonged to, and one that Yago doesn't know either. Maybe that was just meant to reinforce she's on her own, etc. Only thought I had was the man who raped Sara-- he was wealthy and would be the type to throw out an unruly daughter.

Count, I thought that the one guard was strange too. We once went to a man's house near San Miguel who was the Coca - Cola franchisee of Northern Mexico and he had armed guards on the roof and on the perimeter grounds of the house! You would think a casino would be covered with security. I think the one guard was just a novela beanie moment!

Jonas has a LOT of patience. I thought he would blow his stack when he found out she traded her wedding ring for the fortune teller hocus-pocus.

Nandicta, you don't have to "format" it in Trebuchet - you just paste it as plain text into the HTML tab (not the Compose tab) in Blogger and it's Trebuchet by default. You don't have to choose a font.
It might not look like Trebuchet when you see it in the Compose tab or the HTML tab, but it will display as Trebuchet on the website.
Really, the less formatting you do, the less trouble you will have.

I don't think it is directed at Alejandra (my favorite character closely behind flashback Omar) but any woman Bruno may love. He idolized his brother and saw that Omar adored Sara so perhaps Bruno also doesn't trust himself to make the right choice.

I didn't realize the boy was looking for porn! I thought he was just looking for any kind of videos. I guess "monkey washing cat" and "squirrel on waterskis" and "hamster dance" are no longer entertaining enough for today's sophisticated youngsters.
Julie- It was obvious that Matias still doesn't quite understand what exactly porn is. But the other boys at school have been speaking about girls and stuff and places on the web to see pictures of them. His understanding of it is still very vague.
Yep, Vivi is right and I was very surprised to see Mathias open up so much to Yomar. Miss Judy, I'm 32 and when my boyfriend tells me stories about kids were doing when we were in high school I almost faint- one conversation went something like this "the drama kids had an orgy?!"
Matias opening up to Yago was intriguing & did you notice Sara's hostility towards Yago dating Ambar ?
I wonder how much attention Matias gets from his parents. Maybe he was grateful just to be able to talk to a grownup and be listened to.
