Sueño de Amor (SdA) #64. Monday June 6, 2016. Sometimes A Show Gets So Off-The Charts Stoopid That You Long For Its Early Days Of Milder Stoopid

What do you call that level of hunger when even a carcinogenic Crayola icecream called “Sueño de Horror” starts to look appetizing?

At a glance

-- The good news is we’re roughly halfway through this. The bad news is we’re roughly halfway through this.

A closer look

Dr. Cutie Pie assures Esperanza that he’ll do his best to help her. He’s doing this because it’s his vocation. The Guerreros thank him and Esperanza gives him a hug.

At Instituto Palacios, Ricardo gets to the classroom right on time. Selena tells him that her mom yanked her violently (jalonear) and threatened to slap her.

Esperanza meets Margarita in the hallway. She appears absent-minded and when Margarita asks her what’s up, she chalks it down to money problems. Margarita can empathize because she too lost a bundle of cash this morning. I don’t understand how this supposed fountain of wisdom can be so unbelievably dull-witted. She knows her granddaughter needs dough to undergo an abortion in an illegal clinic and still, she doesn’t manage to put two and two together. Oh well. Margarita and Esperanza agree to stage an intervention in order to dissuade Salma from having an abortion and convince her to give her baby up for adoption.

Kiko comes to Instituto Palacios to talk to Salma. He enters her classroom and gets mocked by Paulo Rey and his posse of bullies. When Salma arrives, Paulo teases her for being friends with a penniless handicapped boy from the Musturd School for Paupers. Kiko greets Salma but she pretends she doesn’t know him. Kiko is heartbroken.

Esperanza and Pato talk in the hallway. Esperanza wants to sell the land where she planned to build her dream school. She had paid three years’ worth of monthly installments so, after repaying the bank, she reckons she would have enough money for her gastrectomy operation. Pato doesn't agree with Esperanza’s novel notion of not asking her bazillionaire ex and father of her daughter for help. Doesn’t Esperanza realize that her pride could spell her death? Esperanza doesn't think it’s pride, just dignity. I think it’s a terminal case of TN stoopid. Oh well. Esperanza feels sorry for the women and kids that her dream school was going to help but she now has a new dream: To stay alive. Esperanza also thinks she could sell her spinning bikes for extra cash. Pato has another idea to raise the money (juntar el dinero). Ricardo overhears “raise the money” and wonders what for. Pato says to buy a new car. Ricardo realizes his nosiness is out of place and apologizes. He is well aware that he is nobody to be asking them for explanations. He then gives Esperanza the stink-eye and leaves. Esperanza tells Pato they should be careful and refrain from talking about these things at the Palacios. Duh! Pato says she feels sorry for Ricardo. Esperanza hurts for Ricardo too. She detected resentment (rencor) in the look he gave her, if not outright hatred (odio). Nevertheless, she believes that things are better this way.

Paulo makes fun of Salma's pregnancy cravings and extra kilos. He can’t wait to see the giant belly she will grow. Salma retorts that he doesn’t even know whether she’ll be having the baby or not. He mocks her some more, emphasizing the fact that she’ll be changing diapers (pañales) during her highschool years. Salma storms out and locks herself into the bathroom. Astrid catches up to her. Salma says she wants to stay at home until she gets rid of the baby. She needs to get the rest of the abortion money ASAP.

At the constructora, Viviana tells Luca that she made a donation to Esperanza’s project. She wants Luca to give his future mother-in-law the cheque. He thinks she should do it herself. Viviana hesitates because she is ashamed of the way she treated Esperanza in the past.

At Instituto Palacios, Pato receives a phone call from Luca. She replies sarcastically: Finally, Mr. President deigns to speak to her! He asks if she can swing by the constructora to see him. She acts offended that he won’t find the time to come see her himself, now that he is a big shot President of the Board. Pato is becoming so loathsome that she is now merely one notch under Anastasia on the Crazy Girlfriends Meter.

At Casa Alegría, Ricardo revises the footage filmed by the camera he sneaked into his kids' bedroom at Ernesto’s pad. He remembers what Selena told him this morning and concludes that he ought to keep a closer eye on his children to ensure their safety. He calls Kracy but she doesn’t answer him because she figures he’s just going to yell at her anyway. He heads out the door to go talk to her in person. Seeing how the last time he tried to do this he got forcibly removed by the police, I believe this is a very smart idea indeed.

At the constructora, Pato bumps into Anastasia. They argue about the sextape. Anastasia threatens to upload it to the worldwide web. Pato thinks it would be a box-office success: “The Return of Adefesia/hideous: The XXX Version”. Anastasia thinks she’ll share the video on social media to show everyone what a wonderful lover Luca is. But, evidently, Pato never got to enjoy Luca’s sexual prowess nor did she gain the experience necessary to satisfy him in bed. This remark gets Anastasia a long-overdue punch in the nose. A choreographed catfight ensues. The secretaries try to separate the two banshees. Pato shows Anastasia her engagement ring and reminds her that she is the one Luca will be marrying soon. Luca never proposed to Anastasia but he asked Pato to marry him, gloats the neurotic teenage fiancée. It seems that the pseudo-writers had another bout of express amnesia again because in an earlier episode, Luca told Pato that Anastasia and him were engaged to be married. Oh well. Anastasia threatens to always be stuck on Luca no matter what and Pato promises to always be there to unstick her. Anastasia finally leaves. Pato asks to see Luca. Begoña informs her that he had to leave the office to attend a meeting. Pato is annoyed that he didn’t notify her. Erasmo arrives. He notices that Pato is mad. She tells him about her encounter with the venomous spider (araña venenosa) otherwise known as Anastasia. Erasmo is there to talk to Mario about some changes to the school project. Pato also needs to talk to Mario about the school so she accompanies Erasmo to Mario’s office.

Viviana visits Esperanza’s home and finds Ernesto there. He greets her politely.

Ricardo is stalking his ex-wife in the parking lot of her building. He mumbles as he gets ready to leave his car to confront her: “[You think] you’re so brave mistreating a little 8-year-old girl. Well, this is going to end now!” Thankfully, his cellphone rings just as he gets ready to step out of the car and commit another one of his trademark Tricky Ricky blunders.

Back at Casa Guerrero, Ernesto takes his leave. Viviana wonders how Esperanza managed to domesticate him. In any case, Viviana has never seen Ernesto this happy and she is pleased for him, in spite of their rather sketchy history.

It’s Irene from Nueva Luz, the abused women's shelter, who called Ricardo. She dissuades him from ambushing Kracy because all he’d accomplish is losing his children forever.

At the constructora, Mario leaves Pato and Erasmo alone in his office. Pato says she is preoccupied about Erasmo and informs him that she asked her father to help him overcome his financial predicament. Once again, Erasmo rejects help because of his “pride” or whatever.

Luca returns to the constructora and learns from the secretaries that his current fiancée may have broken his ex-fiancée’s nose.

In another hallway of the constructora, Anastasia cleans the blood off her nose and swears to take revenge on Pato.

Back in Mario’s office, Pato has finally convinced Erasmo to accept her father’s help. He gives her a hug and Luca enters the office just in time to see it. He looks mildly annoyed. Pato starts her sarcastic remarks and irritating guilt-tripping right in front of Erasmo. This ought to be a huge red flag for any guy but not for our IQ-challenged Erasmo. Luca asks him to give them some privacy and Erasmo takes his leave. Pato continues belittling her fiancé and he continues putting up with it.

Back at Casa Guerrero, Viviana expresses her admiration for Esperanza’s project.

At Casa Alegría, Irene and Ricardo are having coffee. They rehash the conversation they had on the phone and he informs her that the judge allowed him to bring in the kids to testify. He also thanks Irene for her support, advice and for being his friend. He says he is so lonely right now. I would be really worried if I were Irene. Ricardo doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to the longevity of his friends. They all seem to suffer violent untimely deaths. Run, Irene, run!

A process server shows up at Ernesto’s pad and gives Kracy an order issued by the judge.

Back at Casa Guerrero, Esperanza asks how Adrián is doing. Viviana thanks her for the affection and concern she shows her son and continues gushing over the dream school. She also apologizes to Esperanza for her past behavior towards her. Esperanza compliments Viviana on the positive changes she is making. She also announces that she owes a lot of money on the land where the school was supposed to be built and that, basically, the dream school project can’t go on.

At a cafeteria, Pedro describes to Kristel his family’s financial woes in light of his mother’s life-threatening illness.

Back at the constructora, Luca finishes a phone while his clingy b*tchy fiancée continues complaining and berating. She even attempts to storm off the office because she feels ignored but he stops her and tells her that she is worth more than all of this. Really? More important than earning his daily bread? More important than ensuring the continued success of a company that provides direct and indirect jobs to hundreds of people? Luca is such a kitty-whipped fool!

Viviana offers to buy the land off Esperanza and to continue the school project herself. Esperanza is moved by this gesture. She thanks Viviana profusely and gives her a big hug.

At the rehab clinic, Adrián discusses the baby options with his doctor. He asks permission to phone Estrella.

Kiko is doing his daily therapy session and feeling sad about Salma’s snub. His therapist’s cellphone rings. It’s Adrián calling for Estrella. He tells her that his doctor allowed her to come visit him. Estrella says she can’t because she has exams. After the call ends, Adrián says that he feels something is off with Estrella.

At Nueva Luz, Irene announces that Sandra, the girl who is always traumatized in every Osorio telenovela, has disappeared from the shelter and is nowhere to be found.

Back at Casa Guerrero, Esperanza informs her son about her agreement with Viviana. “Thank you, Virgencita de la Paz!” exclaims Pedro.

Back at the constructora, Luca apologizes to Pato. For what, I don’t really know. She is the one acting like an insufferable jerk. Pato reminds Luca of the Truth Pact they made in the United States when she went to visit him at the university where he barely completed two weeks of the MBA syllabus. They reconcile and smooch.

Anastasia is in Ernesto’s pad to inform Kracy about the punch she received from Pato. Kracy has just come around to reading the judge’s order that the process server handed her much much earlier. Yeah, that’s what people do when they receive important legal notifications. They wait for Anastasia to show up before they can read them. Pfff!

At Nueva Luz, Irene briefs Ricardo on Sandra’s background. The poor girl was raped by four guys who later managed to leave jail scott-free because of their families’ influence. Wasn't this the premise of the very successful Turkish series “¿Qué culpa tiene Fatmagül?”. Osorio continues to amaze us with the originality of this “original” story that we have to endure for at least another 3 months. Oh well. According to Irene, Sandra vowed to track and kill her rapists. Moreover, it turns out that the volunteer who was close to Sandra was Cristina Somethingez Somethingama, who showed up all of a sudden, as if invoked. Cristina and Ricardo exchange unpleasantries. Their verbal sparring is rather forced and exaggerated, when a little nuance could have made it a lot more charming. Once again, Osorio pours a barrel-full where a delicate pinch would have sufficed.

Back at Casa Guerrero, Esperanza offers Pedro the rest of the information we already know about her agreement with Viviana. Osorio needs to fill out the 42 minutes of this episode at any cost, therefore, choppy editing with one or two-line scenes and a rehash of nearly every conversation are in order. Ernesto shows up with a flower arrangement because he says that he promised to bring Esperanza flowers every day. Esperanza rolls her eyes and reminds him that he doesn’t need to be quite so attentive. Ernesto asks her what happened during her latest doctor’s appointment.

Back at the constructora, Pato tells Luca that she hurt her hand punching Anastasia. He kisses her boo-boo better. Pato asks whether Anastasia is good in bed because Aranza told her that Luca looked very happy in their tame 50 Shades of Hello Kitty video. Luca believes the question is inappropriate. Pato is consumed by jealousy because she feels she can’t give Luca what his freaky deaky crazy cheeky ex-girlfriend was able to give him. Luca tries to put her mind at ease by telling her how much he loves her and how special she is to him.

At prison, Margarita gives Silvana money and Silvana gives Margarita attitude. Margarita tries to talk to her about Salma. We’ve heard this abortion conversation a few times already. This and Silvana’s woe-is-me tirades have been rehashed to death. Moving on.

At Casa Guerrero, yet another conversation rehash is underway. Ernesto offers Esperanza his help to get her the best treatment in the world. Esperanza declines. Maybe people this stoopid must eventually die, natural selection and whatnot. Most of the times, Mother Nature knows best. Ernesto gets so frustrated he is practically shouting his very valid arguments. Esperanza storms off and Pedro yells at Ernesto for yelling at his mother. Ernesto apologizes.

Back at prison, Silvana blames her mother and her family for all the things she did to herself all on her own. She tells Margarita not to bother visiting her again. Just send the money. I say let that Tuerta thug lady do her job. Natural selection, Márgara.

Kracy threatens her kids that if they dare to say the truth to the judge about her mistreatment, she would have their father killed. Even Anastasia looks disgusted by what she is seeing and hearing.

Back at Casa Guerrero, Esperanza tells Pedro the same thing she told Ernesto earlier, which is the same thing she told Pato much earlier. Pedro believes that his mother’s insistence on not owing Ernesto anything would cease to matter if she dies.

Hey amigos! I'm so sorry but things have been manic last week, I had many episodes to catch up on + today is the first day of Ramadan and I'm totally zonked out from hunger! I need to break fast then I'll share the second part of the recap once the food coma wears out.

Thanks for your understanding! Catch ya later :)

Ramadan mubarak, Nandicta! And thank you for bringing us the recap despite hunger zonking. I think you're not too far gone, though, or maybe I'm hungry, too, because the ice cream in that picture doesn't look as terrible as the original Sueño de Horror blend Espe and Ricardo originally ate.

Espe is not thinking straight, and I think her kids should just tell Ricardo the secrets and let him help. She'll forgive them eventually. But first she should take the money from Ernesto and try to live! She can worry about paying him back later, when she's not dead and can still have an income and be there for her kids! Sheesh, woman. "Dignity" doesn't mean that dying of stupidity is somehow noble.

But hey, at least now Pato might hook up with Erasmo, so Esperanza will have another proud stupid person to take her side.

Salma and her will-she-or-won't-she-abort storyline are getting really tedious.

Nandicta- All the best this Ramadan! Enjoy the iftar, amiga! You'll have to tell us what tasty treats you're breaking the fast with each evening.

Thanks, Nandicta, for your efforts especially during the holiday. Best wishes for a happy Ramadan!

Well put, Julia: "'Dignity' doesn't mean that dying of stupidity is somehow noble."

Looks like Cristina and Ricardo will be providing some comic relief while Tracy threatening her kids so they will like to the judge won't.

"Lie" to the judge!

Renata Notni on this TN was previously on "Quiero Amarte" as Mariana!

No "Sueño de amor" tonight.

Yeah! Thanks for letting us know in advance Univisión!!

Does anybody know if they are airing it tomorrow, or definitely cancelled it during the foot ball thing so they can play with the schedule?

Renata Notni is also playing another bird (a dove) in Amor de barrio. Next she will be on Sesame Street!

Part 2 of the recap + quote + vocabulary are up. Many apologies for the delay.

Thanks ever so much to all for the kind wishes. Much appreciated. I'll come back later once I've had a chance to read last week's recaps. I have saved up stuff to complain about y'all! :)

As far as the programming schedule goes, there's definitely an opportunity for clarity at univision.com. In other words, the programming schedule at unvision.com is incorrect. I looked at TVGuide.com, and it's correct in reflecting Rosa de Guadalupe in the SdA time slot and Copa America game in Yago time slot.

There was this tweet from Univision.

Sabemos que los vas a extrañar, pero mañana estarán de vuelta. Disfruta esta noche de la @[612616258840297:274:Copa América Centenario 2016], #SueñoDAmor y #Yago regresan mañana.

Last night I caught on the advance for the next episode that they said "miercoles" instead of "manana" (Can't get my accent on the e and tilde on the n to work).

So good to read this instead of watching another episode.

I also thought about Fatmagul (2010), but there's a case in Veracruz, México, where 5 boys (or 4 and one watching) from very rich families raped Daphne Fernández back in 2015. She tried to hide it from her parents but finally broke, the boys posted videos where they apologized to her family but still, the authorities didn't do anything for almost a whole year. Last march police finally got two of the boys and the other two left México. I guess that the one who watched was not charged. Life imitates art? How about Osorio imitates EVERYTHING !!!

I think Luca is not ready for Daffy Duck, and Pedro shouldn't mess with Kristel, who already spent a night in Bangkok with Erasmo under the stars and the fireflies-

Thanks for parte dos!

I'd feel bad for Luca, but I figure if you get engaged to an immature teen, you've signed up for immature teen snitfits.

Love your commentary on natural selection. Too true.

Ask yourself this, Esperanza: if YOU were very wealthy, and someone you cared about was going to die if they didn't get treatment, and you'd never even miss the money, you'd want to spend it to help them, right? If you had a friend who was seriously ill and they had a relative who had the money and wanted to help them, would you advise your friend to refuse the money and die, leaving her children behind? I don't think so. So why will you not let Ernesto help you? If you'd be happier to be allowed to help someone, why would you deny someone else the chance to give genuinely helpful assistance when they want to and have offered? All this praying to the virgencita, and the virgencita keeps trying to send you help, and you refuse it because why? Because it is too mundane if it comes through another person and not through some magical twinkling rose?

Irene should stay far away from Ricardo. I can't believe they let someone with his anger management issues near a refuge for abused women.

Yeah! Like taking an elephant to the china and glassware store...

From my Xfinity Comcast schedule, it looks like it is on tomorrow.

Hello again!

First and foremost, a big thank you to Kinomathematika, Jarifa, Pablo and Adriana for their eloquent, insightful and witty recaps! I read them all back-to-back and they were simply delightful! The comments left on the episode threads last week were such a treat so thank you to the ever-faithful Diana and Julia for making this small patio such a fun place to hang out! Enduring SdA is worth it just to read your observations, insights, jokes and rants! :)

A shout out to Emeraldrose and Nina who visited the patio last week and sat with us a spell and a warm welcome to Doña Felipa, Elsa/Madame E! and Anon on Sunday @12:12 who I hope will share their insights with us more often from now on. Anyone is welcome to join the fun. Just choose a screen name and jump in!

Now onto the show. Watching SdA these days has become such a cumbersome chore, all I say is thank goodness for this patio. I watched several episodes back-to-back in order to catch up and do this recap and I barely made it. Then I read last week's recaps and comments from Tuesday to Friday back-to-back and I now understand why I need to keep watching SdA to the bitter end. Many people follow recaps & comments to keep up with a show, I follow this show to keep up with the recaps & comments! I need to be in on the joke! :)

Many of the things that aggravated me were already mentioned in the comments so I won't duplicate them here. Two issues weren't pointed out so I'll talk about them here:

1) The Kuris seemed to lose their sh*te over Salma's drinking because of the baby! You can't drink 'cause you're pregnant! Think about the baby! Naggedy nag nag nag! How about the fact that she is 14? Why is nobody (Esperanza included) concerned about the fact that a 14-year old is going out on a night of binge-drinking, that even includes a pre-game (pre-copas), with a bunch of other underage teenagers whose ages range from 14 to 16?

2) There are so many inconsistencies in Anastasia's backstory, the Crayola "writers" don't know whether they are coming or going. The first time Anastasia had dinner with Kracy she said that her father recognized her in the end and left her money to ease his conscience, insinuating that her father had passed away. She burnt through that dough pretty quickly, that's why she is back, attempting to leech off anyone who would let her. Old Vain Viviana corroborated this in the earlier episodes when she said that Anastasia was more distinguusjed than Pato, because she is a Limantour, which means that her father did recognize her and gave her his (supposedly) prestigious last name. Yet, in last week's episodes, Anastasia tells Kracy that her dad gave her mom money to shut her up and that Anastasia spent that money looking for her dad because she believes "he should know he has a daughter". This implies that her father has not recognized her yet. Therefore, how come her name is Anastasia Limantour if her father never recognized her? And how come she slept with Ernesto to get her father out of a financial jam if she doesn't even know her father? Who is writing this utter nonsense? Is this some kind of unsupervised primary school writing project?

Thank you Jarifa and Kinoma for informing us that SdA was to be preempted last night.

Just a little heads-up: There is no SdA on Monday June 13 (all novelas will be preempted) or Tuesday June 14 (Univision is showing "La Rosa de Guadalupe" instead of "La Rosa de La Virgen de La Paz"). You can check the TV listings here http://goo.gl/W3k8fU and they are way more reliable than Univision's online horarios. (Jarifa, could you please email me your email address? Thanks!)

OT

Vivi, you asked about typical Moroccan Ramadan foods, so I found this for you: http://moroccanfood.about.com/od/ramadanspecialoccasions/tp/List_of_Ramadan_Recipes.htm The page has photos and fairly accurate recipes. North Africans seem to favor too many sweet dishes at Iftar in comparison to people from West Africa, the Middle East or Southeast Asia. In our family, we tend to prefer more savory and hearty dishes, so we serve an Iftar/Dinner hybrid if you will. The staples you would find on nearly every Moroccan Iftar table are mint tea, fruit juices, Chebbakia (sweet), Sellou (sweet), Harira (soup) and/or Barley Milk Soup, dates, boiled eggs and some form of Moroccan pancake (either sweet or savory) and/or Beghrir, which are spongy Moroccan semolina crepes with little holes in them to soak up the olive oil (or melted butter) and honey goodness (http://moroccanfood.about.com/od/pancakes/r/Beghrir_Recipe.htm). Then, next to the staples, every family prepares savory snacks which are mainly some kind of stuffed pastry and/or stuffed focaccia-type bread. In my family, we prepare proper savory dishes that the vast majority of Moroccans would normally serve at a late dinner. We don't have dinner at my house. We eat a hearty Iftar then a piece of fruit and yogurt or a light snack before going to bed. Yesterday, in addition to the staples, my mother made fish pasties and I made zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta and parmesan as well as stuffed red peppers with ground beef, rice, provolone, marinara sauce, parsley and basil. I was so full I didn't eat afterwards; just had a cucumber and a glass of ice-cold agua de Jamaica (we call it Karkadé in Arab countries).
So here you have it, my friend. A little insight into the Ramadan food-galore in Morocco. I hope this inspires you to try some of the recipes. Please bear in mind that making Chebbakia and Sellou are mammoth tasks that the brave head of the family undertakes once a year ahead of Ramadan and makes enough supply to last the entire month as well as give away to family, friends and acquaintances. I've watched my granny and mother make them many times but I have no idea how to make them myself. It's something that requires a culinary bootcamp! :)

Nandicta, this was superb. So sorry to be so late in commenting.

Picking favorites was almost impossible but I loved "Margarita gives Silvana money and Silvana gives Margarita attitude" and "Pato doesn't agree with Esperanza’s novel notion of not asking her bazillionaire ex and father of her daughter for help". Fab.

In addition to the stellar vocabulary, I so enjoy your observations and insights "Cristina and Ricardo exchange unpleasantries. Their verbal sparring is rather forced and exaggerated, when a little nuance could have made it a lot more charming". totally agree.

Julia, I was yelling at Espe to take the money! Forget your stupid pride Esperanza and live for your children's sake if not your own. I also think you are a fool for not realizing Ernesto is hawt. And wealthy. Bury your grudge and instead of moping your death, take steps to try and elevate your life.

Kiko's bullying only to be dissed by Salma was very upsetting.

I've always liked Vivi and for once, I was right about a character. A good heart is buried in that somewhat flaky exterior!

I don't despise Anastasia. But only because I feel she may be a crucial element in keeping Tracy from harming her kids.

I do loathe Sil.

Ricardo? Don't care. Sorry. No, not really sorry at all. ;)

Thank you Nandicta!

Diana

Nandicta- Thanks for sharing your Iftar menu. Yum! There have been a few articles and stories here about obesity and diabetes soaring during Ramadan because of the over abundance of sweets eaten during Iftar. Sounds like your family is being smart mainly sticking to the savory dishes.

Thank you, Diana! I totally agree with you and Julia about Esperanza and Erasmo's stoopid "pride"! If your survival and/or the safety of your loved ones is at stake then "pride" does not matter whatsoever! People who act like this are not admirable or noble, they are just egomaniacal jerks who stop at nothing to glorify their own image and to feed their own warped sense of pride.

Please save me a seat at the "I don't give a flying fudge about Ricardo" table. I fear that Osorio has ruined Cris de la Fuente for me. I can't stand to look at him anymore! I noticed that you mentioned last week that you are liking Julián Gil in this. You'll have to fight me for him. I've seen the actor in other TNs before and I enjoy watching him because he plays a decent villain but he's not my type in the looks department so he never registered with me before. Then he dyes his hair darker and I did a double-take! As I watched him in SdA, I started finding him very attractive and suave (mustache and all). So y'all can take Mr. Chilean Muscle while Diana and me share Ernesto of the Hill! :)

I also saw something that has not been addressed and that look suspicious.

I am sure the writers are just throwing stuff around to see if it sticks.

On the episode where we all said what we saw (it takes a village), I remember Ernesto left alone after PatoLuca got the call from Pedro saying Esperanza had cancer. Anastasia got there, and since he is not a wasteful guy, invited her champagne he had to celebrate PatoLuca failed engagement. Juárever, there was a blonde woman in the back that THEY WANTED US TO SEE, because before leaving she approached the table and said, ''you look a lot like my daughter''.

That for me was very suspicious. I thought she was Anastasia's mother that had not seen her in a long time and is not sure is her daughter, but if you had not seen in her in a long time, how would you recognize her, right? She is older now and different because people change.
Could she be Anastasia's father's wife, who also have a daughter that looks like her half sister?

Does anyone remembers that or was a part of my own SUEÑO DE AMOR?

I'm hoping Selena and Rod see through Kracy's threats and tell the judge the truth. Maybe Kracy will go to jail (aka, revenge incubator) and end up brewing trouble with her former ally, Silvana.

Nandicta, all that food sounds tempting to a foodie like me. My stomach's growling!

Vivi: You're absolutely right about that! In general, diabetes is becoming a problem for most countries in my region, but the emphasis on sweets during Ramadan surely doesn't help. My mother is diabetic but even before she was diagnosed, my family preferred to have a proper balanced meal instead of gorging on sweets that are mostly empty calories. The Chebbakia and Sellou that I told you about are merely accessories on the table. We put them down then take them away untouched when we clean the table. By the end of the month, my mother ends up giving them away (they keep well for several months). It is also less time consuming to prepare a big salad and a one-pot dish or a veggie pizza pie or a vegetable couscous than prepare a panoply of sweet and fried little amuse-bouches.

Yes, Pablo, the lady in the restaurant did happen. Red herring?

Pablo: "the writers are just throwing stuff around to see if it sticks" you hit it right on the head! I'm sure they are just taking for a ride and having a laugh at our expense. At the end of the day, they and Osorio get paid no matter what.

That scene you mentioned was indeed very odd, but my understanding of it (and I may be wrong) is that the lady that stopped to compliment Anastasia is the actress's real mother and they offered her a cameo. That's the feeling I got anyway. Mommy is visiting from Argentina, can we please give her a line in the novela, Mr. Producer?

Kinoma: I'm crossing my fingers for those poor kids to leave that witch ASAP. I can't stand to see children cry and those little child actors are so good at it, they just break my heart.

Yes, fellow foodie, my stomach is growling in sync with yours!

Sorry about the typos, guys! I need a nap! Catch ya guys later! :)

Yes, thanks. It makes a lot of sense now since she had an argentinian accent. Well, with this we don't know anymore whats been there since the beginning and what's been added.

In México we call it ''patadas de ahogado'' (drowning man kicks)

Nandicta: your Iftar menu sounds wonderful as I sit here with yes, my Subway! :(

Nandicta, great recap! Thanks for sticking with this monster. I can't stop watching this horroshow.. the patio is too much fun to read! And I have the biggest soft spot for Erasmo. Okay maybe not Erasmo but for Osvaldo de Leon (whos becoming a parent with PyP Monsterrat!)

Also wanted to drop by and say that "Yesterday, in addition to the staples, my mother made fish pasties and I made zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta and parmesan as well as stuffed red peppers with ground beef, rice, provolone, marinara sauce, parsley and basil" this sounded absolutely delicious and so did those crepes. I immediately bookmarked the recipe! Thanks for giving me or well us new culinary knowledge!

Jarifa, I miss Subway so much! It was one of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch when I lived in the UK. We don't have Subway here in Morocco. :(

TomBoy, I'm glad you liked the recipes link. Thank you for popping in to say hello and share your opinion with us! I like the actor who plays Erasmo and I look forward to seeing him in something else (I hear that he did an excellent job in "La Malquerida"). However, I feel that the once lovable character of Erasmo has been ruined with that loan shark business and that "I fell in love with my boss's girlfriend after a 30-second conversation" baloney. This Erasmo is a far cry from the one who charmed us in the beginning of the story. I used to have a soft spot for him too (he is a fine specimen) but now I can't stand to look at him, especially in light of where Estrella's human trafficking storyline is going. Maybe a construction site bird bath is in order to reconcile the connoisseurs of male eye candy with Erasmo? Which reminds me, why is nobody taking a shower in this show? It's a circus anyway so why not throw me a few gratuitous shirtless shots of Ric, Ernesto and Erasmo?

I don't know how this skippd my mind but thank you Pablo for sharing the story of Daphne Fernández with us. I googled it and you're right, Osorio used the poor woman's story as ratings bait. What an inconsiderate self-interested boor!
