Tres Veces Ana #21: SHOW ME THE MONEY!

Wellllllll..it would seem that Orlando is Hell bent on cashing in on other people’s strife with his proof of life that Ana Lucia is alive!!!!!!!  He tells Ramiro he wants A-Lucky’s rich relatives to ante up antes or nothin’ doin’.  Ram feels deceived!  Well he was, says Orly.  She’s his friend and he only wanted to protect her and he was scared for her!  Ram says show me this photo or I go.  Ok.  Orly opens his phone and shows him a photo of A-Lucky at a danse class rehearsal.  Wow!  The likeness!  It’s her!  She really is alive!  Oh, and BTW, she has no memory of the accident Ram’s been talking about.  Oka, then why is she still called Ana Lucia if she doesn’t have any memory of her past?  Seems she was wearing some bracelet with her name on it.

Ok.  So, Ana-Lu is having problems concentrating on her new acrobatic project.  AniBal, aka AniBaldy, screams at her that her friend has her head on straight and so should she!  Maribel secretly smiles a contemptuous grin as Ana takes it verbally on the chin.   Later in break Bel beams at her friend and asks where she was and what’s going on inside her head.  Ana-Lu lies that Santiago took her to San Nicolas to pick up cash owed by Dona Chana.  And Orlando?  Oh, they had it out with him.  The guy’s nuts!  He sliced Santi’s 4 tires all to hell!  Just out of jealousy!  “-Tough nuts!  I’ve never led him on!”  Well, Bel left town without word cuz she was mad at the dude for ignoring her affections.  She here now with her BFF pursuing her dream!

Meanwhile, Iñaki has an appointment with the old fuddy-duddy truck-farmer Sanchez to show him property.

At the same time, Ana Laura daydreams about her sister’s wedding day and Marcelo letting her know that Ramiro feels the same about her as she does about him: totally in love!  Oh!  Then up rolls Valentin and chats her up about the family din-din the other night.  Still has Uncle Mariano to meet and impress.  They eventually kiss and Valeria happens upon her and is shocked at the girl’s fickle fling-thing.  Intervention anyone?  Hell yeah, thinks Valeria!

Over at The Realty Place, Ana Leticia fakes her innocence again with Tío Mo.  Forgive me?  You know it was all Yaki’s fault, right?  Mo isn’t so sure, but he still loves his little niece.  Only, he’s tired of the temper tantrums.  He doesn’t want to lose bidnez over it all.  She says, well it’s just that Ana Lloro has a new beau—a guy she just met!  He’s a complete stranger!  Already they’re going steady!  And you gotta know that no guy falls in love with a legless woman over night!  He’s got to be another fortune hunter just like Ramiro!

Ok, now back to Ram and Orly’s selling selfies for some serious scratch—or thirty (thousand?) pieces of silver. Ram promises to see what he can do.  Orly heads to the nearest police station and files a false police report against some taxi driver who did a hit and run.  BUT,  he managed to take a phone shot of the license plate!  The cop goes to check the plates for the owner and driver of the cab.

At Remedios’ B&B, The Remedy, SanMarco tries apologizing to Soledad over spending the night out with A-Lucky.  She slaps him for it. “—You’re a married man and you have turned my daughter into your lover!!”   He swears she is the love of his life and he’s going back only for his wife to fill in the blanks and to ask her for a divorce.  Sole tells her that is about as low a trick as he could play on both of these women, neither of which deserves such treatment.  What if there are kids involved also?  And a whole family that’s missing him back there?  He ‘ll be trapped forever and will never return!  Oh, replies, SanMarco, Evaristo would have mentioned it and he didn’t.  “—Evaristo never tells more than half the truth!  You wouldn’t even know!”  She finally admits she believes his love for A-Lucky but still he needs to face reality and not fill her head full of promises he cannot ever keep.  “—You can’t deny who you were, Beltran!  It’s ery much a part of you, waiting to emerge from the shadows some day.  You’ve become a threat!”  “—To whom?  To you, Sra?”  Slap!  “—To my daughter!”  (Jerk!  That was some truly misplaced smart mouth, big guy.)  You will break my daughter’s heart!

Over in Uptown, Ernestina is negatively impactado to see Leonora bring Ramiro into the back yard for another face-to-face.  She wants nothing to do with him!  "--Ok, Sra.  But Ana Lucia is ALIVE!!!!”  She stops in her truculent tracks.  She’s ready to listen to the fact it was a picture of her from about a year earlier and she has such happy, laughing, eyes--until the fool stumble-bums all over himself by mentioning the guy with that picture of her that he’s seen wants cash up front.  (Why not just trick and trap the dude into coming to the house with the phone and grabbing it off him, or waving the cash in Orly’s face and offering the trade then and there.  But nooooooo!!

Ernestina immediately thinks the worst of Ram for bringing up money.  It’s always got to be money with him!  Not a single peso!  (Ok, you silly old fool!! So you’ll never see hide nor hair of her again!  This guy’s the key and you’re risking it all for such a paltry sum to people like you!  Gamble a bit, why don’t you????)

Santi runs into A-Lu and Bel back from a day’s hard work.  He has a chance to discuss what Sole asked him for but he just doesn’t.  He misses the opportunity and heads off to work.  Sole comes along next and says naively she’s soon to find work as a seamstress and then she’ll be able to pay for more of A-Lu’s gymnastics classes,  unbeknownst to her that that’s totally unnecessary and A-Lu already works for a troupe—AniBaldy’s troupe!

Back at Erni’s, Leo secretly offers her life savings to Ram in hopes he’ll manage to buy the photo and prove himself to the family and especially, A-Lo again.
Rich Rod-as in Rodrigo-sees an ad for seaside property and is interested in looking at it.

Valeria tells A-Lloro that something in the tale she’s told doesn’t add up.  Ram just isn’t like that!  AS for Tin-Tin, she’s not in love with him!  Let him down easy and be done with it.  Nope, she owes him the opportunity since he is the only man who makes her forget about Ramiro.  She’s going to make herself love Tin-Tin.

Back at the manse, Mo tells Erni about A-MiMi’s accusation regarding Tin-Tin.  Mo learns that Erni has a past to her present as well!  Yes, she was betrayed in love in the most vile way as well.  Therefore, she’s determined A-Lloro won’t suffer the same fate as she.  Ok.   BTW, Erni, he queries, did you happen to catch this Valentin’s last name?  “--Why, for some reason it just never came up!  I never did ask his last name!” (Double Duh!)  Oh, well never mind.  It’s just something that’s been rolling around in my head.  Forget it.  (Wha---??????)

I've only seen part of this, Jardinera, but as usual, your rambunctious recounting of last night has me cracking up.

First the rhyme:
Maribel secretly smiles a contemptuous grin as Ana takes it verbally on the chin

and then the alliteration:

some serious scratch

stops in her truculent tracks

Pure Jardinera! Well, glad Ana Laura heard some wise words even though she completely ignored them. Of course she wouldn't be the first woman alive who vowed to love the seemingly irreproachable suitor. Not sure how that works in arranged marriages, but it sure never does in telenovelas.

Thanks so much amiga mia.

Forgot to mention, loved the title as well.

Thanks, Jardinera - this was awesome! Loved this especially:

Ok, you silly old fool!! So you’ll never see hide nor hair of her again! This guy’s the key and you’re risking it all for such a paltry sum to people like you! Gamble a bit, why don’t you????

No kidding, with all the money Ernestina has, you'd think she'd be willing to spare some on this even if she's pretty sure he is lying. But I also thought it was dumb of Ramiro to come over asking for cash when they are thinking the worst of him already. If anyone, he should have asked Mariano - might have been able to convince him though still a long shot. Also, doesn't seem like Orlando is asking for much, since Ramiro said that he'd have ponied up money himself, but he just rented (bought?) a departamento. So if it's not that much that Leonor's savings would make a dent, how about a loan in the bank? Anyway, Ramiro continues to "impress".

Curious too how long it will take for Mariano to figure out Tin's real last name/identity! Seems like we are finally gaining speed again in the plot.

Thanks again, Jardinera!

Thanks Jardinera, very entertaining recap. To many phrases that made me giggle.

I was wondering, couldnt Ram frame Orly in a neutral setting with the police in hiding since he is trying to extort? Orly seems the type to cave in and give up all the goods.

I dont think that would happen because writers want to give us a juicy storyline.

Thx again
Leticia

Thanks, Jardinera. My fave: AS for Tin-Tin, she’s not in love with him! Captures this show in all its high silliness.

Count me in on calling Ernestina a cheapskate. How much money has she already spent all these years looking for her nieta? And she can't throw a few bucks more Ramiro's way?

This doesn't say much for the accountant's money management though. Why put all his money in an expensive depa and have no dough to pay extortion?

Great recap, Jardinera. It was a very accurate depiction of last night's nonsense.

When Ana Leticia told her uncle to hug her and he did: I wanted to throw up.

Anyway, it was entertaining in its own way.

Gracias, Jardinera.

What I kept wondering was why Ramiro didn't call his own number from Orlando's cell and send the photo to it. That's what Marcelo would have done.

Marcelo would also have figured out how to find Ana Lucia on the basis of what was going on in that photo.

It looks like Ana Leticia got off the hook again. I've come to think it must be because Mariano is just as self-centered as she is.

WTH is Orlando doing at the police station? He seems to be trying to get Santiago in trouble with the law to get him out of the way. Ignoranus.

Thank you, Jardinera. Another delightful recap.

Indeed, Orlando is setting Santiago up. I think it would be utterly idiotic for the police to arrest Santi with no proof other than Orlando's statement, but this is that kind of telenovela. The only question is, what will get Santi out of the way first-- getting arrested because of Orlando's lies, or being "disappeared" by Evaristo when he goes off to Costa Paraiso to find his "wife?"

Urban- I said a few weeks ago that Mariano identifies with Ana Leticia best because in many ways she is a version of himself- arrogant, vain, and self-centered. The last many episodes, seeing how he interacts with Ana Laura and what he thinks of her based on her disability, has only strengthened that assessment.

Oh, Ramiro. He needs to learn how to be a bit more devious and a lot smarter, if he has any hope of getting anywhere with these blackmailers, snobs, and crazies.

Jardinera, this was great.

"Maribel secretly smiles a contemptuous grin as Ana takes it verbally on the chin", "fickle fling-thing" and "She stops in her truculent tracks" were among many favorites.

Ana Lucia is too trusting, Ana Laura is too needy and Ana Leticia is too conniving.

I am finding few characters here truly likeable. Ana Lucia and Ramiro are pretty much it for me. The others are too frustrating, too gullible and/or lacking common sense and intuition.

Vivi, I like your take on Mariano and of course it makes perfect sense as Ana Let is the female mirror version of himself. I find nothing charismatic or the slightest bit intriguing about that character. He leaves me totally cold.

I could watch Angelique's acrobatics all day. Very talented young woman. Her acting is stellar here.

Thanks again Jardinera.

Diana

Does anyone else not believe a word Valentin said about his family?

Thanks Jardinera for a rollicking good recap
fave line - " The guy’s nuts! He sliced Santi’s 4 tires all to hell! Just out of jealousy! “-Tough nuts! I’ve never led him on!” "

__
Urban - I agree that Marcelo would have been able to find Analu from the context of the photo, I thought it should have given Ramiro a clue too (too much to ask, I guess)
But yeah I kind of believed Valentin, when he talks about his family he looks really sincere and doesn't do the evil face behind the hand thing.

Hi all: thanks for stopping by. This time around I had to hand it to Soledad. Remedios was anything but sensitive towards Santi and A-Lucky's whole-night out situation-chalk that up to never having been a mother of a daughter, I suppose. Sole's slaps were not overdoing it in the least IMNSHO as tn's go. She was making sense the whole time about not considering the other possible outcomes. Either Santiago is totally naive or arrogant beyond belief. I do feel Sole's pain as well.

Despite her having committed the unforgivable crime of kidnapping, and no doubt during a probable mental breakdown, she's taken very good care of the girl and truly cares about A-Lucky and for her. She is definitely the only well-adjusted sister of the three.

So, should the fact that Soledad has been a good mother release her from the consequences of the immoral crime she committed? It will be interesting to see how the telenovela gods tackle that question.

Wait a minute; Ana Lucia isn't 15, she's 25. That's long past the point where any mother should be freaking out over her spending the night away from home.

As to whether Soledad's parenting should release her from punishment for kidnapping, that would have to be up to Ernestina and Mariano. As I said yesterday I'm not sure they will agree on this. Ernestina will be grateful that Ana Lucia is alive and well, but Mariano might be hard-nosed. He is too easily influenced by Ana Leticia, who might fill his head with the idea of Soledad deserving to have the book thrown at her.

Of course her motive for doing that would be to cause Ana Lucia misery.

Thanks, Jardinera. I envy your rhyming and alliteration skill!

Interesting, Urban... I think Mariano is less likely to give Soledad a hard time than Ernestina. I think Ernestina is both more narrow-minded and more emotional than Mariano and will see Soledad as an icky poor working person who stole her precious granddaughter and raised her among icky poor working people.

Maybe I'm wrong about Ernestina, but she does strike me as that kind of snob. I suppose a lot of it will depend on Soledad's attitude and how they meet. And since both Mariano and Ernestina are convinced that everyone is after their money, it might not be difficult for someone like AnaLet to convince them that Soledad kept AnaLu hidden for all these years just waiting for the right moment to get in good with these rich people. Only idiots would believe that, but if they can seriously think that Ramiro is a gold-digger (and Valentin isn't, LOL) then it should be easy to get them to think that of Soledad as well.

OK, so, talk about your near misses, did anyone hear me laughing on Friday night at Santiago and AnaLet in the side-by-side cars? And now it looks like we could be in for some near-misses between Mariano and Valentin.
