Yago, #20, Friday 6/10/16: Congratulations! It's a Boy!

Flashback: Sara is looking at the positive result on her pregnancy test and thinking that she isn’t cut out to be a mother. She never played with dolls or played house as a child and didn’t grow up with a mother’s love. She doesn't think she can be a better parent than her father was to her. Now Mati is paying for her sins.

She goes to prison to tell Omar he’s going to become a father, but then changes her mind and leaves.

She goes to Chela, her old landlady, to take her to the abortion clinic. She doesn’t feel anything for this child and doesn’t want to have it. Chela urges Sara to take a few days to think about it, but Sara wants to get it over with.

Before the procedure can begin, the technician does an ultrasound. When Sara hears the baby’s heartbeat, she changes her mind... and brings the ultrasound picture to Lucio. "We’re going to have a baby!" Lucio is over the moon.

Lucio is still hyperventilating in the car. He calls Sara at home and tells her he heard gunshots. They both cry.

Yago has rescued Mati, but Mati gets re-kidnapped, this time by Fidel's men. Fidel demands that Yago clarify whose side he's on. The kid will be safe with Fidel. Besides, he's an opportunity - the key to Yago's revenge.

Abel's been shot, but he's okay. The bullet just grazed his arm.

Yago tells Lucio, Abel, and Teo that the kidnappers want to renegotiate. They want twice the original amount in addition to what they've already paid.

When they get home, Sara chews Lucio out for screwing up the rescue. She wants to involve her father. Lucio is opposed.

Yago argues with Fidel. He explains about the birthmark and says he slept with Sara exactly nine months before Mati was born. Fidel is unmoved; he says Yago can destroy Sara and Lucio, and have Mathias to himself. They're desperate right now and will give anything to save their son. Yago can take the deeds to all their properties, without hurting little Mati.

Privately, Lucio tells Abel he knows that Abel doesn't like Sara, but thanks him for not telling Sara that he froze up.

Yago is at home. He's mad at Katia for telling Fidel where the kidnappers were. She tries to spin it as a way of gaining Fidel's trust so that she can find out more about what he's up to. She insists that Yago can trust her. In fact, she already has a juicy tidbit to share: Fidel had three children, and they were all murdered. She and Yago ponder how horrible this must have been for Fidel and Selma.

Yago has a tidbit of his own for Katia: He shares his suspicion about being Mathias's father.

It is morning, and Sara meets with her father, who has ordered her some coffee and a concha. She tells him about Mati, and he promises to help. Oh, they borrowed money from Tomas Vargas? He's a really bad dude - he's mixed up with mobsters. Damian makes some quick inquiries and confirms that Tomas was behind the original kidnapping, but then another gang took him away. Sarah begins flipping out.

When Abel arrives at home, Lorenzo sees the blood on his shirt and flashes back to the night his father was shot. He doesn't recognize Abel in the flashback; all he can see is his father's blood. "You're dying! You're dying!" he panics. Abel says he was mugged and that he's fine. The boy is still upset. Abel grabs Lorenzo's face in his hands and tells him, "you're going to the United, and I AM NOT YOUR FATHER!" Lorenzo gapes, stunned.

Abel apologizes to the kid and tells him to call when he gets to Charlie's restaurant in New York. If he works hard, he'll be fine.

At Lucio's house, Yago tells Lucio that he has some friends who can lend Lucio the 10 million if he offers the titles to his house and casino as security. Lucio balks. Sara comes home from her meeting with Damian and says Tomas doesn't have Matias. Yago acts as though he's just finding out for the first time that Tomas was behind the kidnapping.

Lucio inadvertently spills the tepache that it was Yago, not Lucio, who met with the kidnappers. Lucio admits that he had a panic attack. Yago insists that Damian must be lying. Lucio agrees; Damian has always been a big liar. (The ONE TIME Damian tells the truth about something, no one believes him! Delicious!) Sara ridicules Lucio for his failure at the rescue.

Katia asks Selma to let her see Mati. She explains that Yago's really mad at her, and letting her check in on Mati would go a long way to regaining his trust. Selma agrees, and then steps out to take a phone call, during which Katia gets a DNA swab from the blindfolded boy's mouth.

Alejandra has used the data she got from Lucio's computer to identify one of Damian's favorite haunts, a restaurant where Damian played many of his cons. She shows Dam's photo to a waiter who recalls that Damian ran lots of scams there. The waiter knows he should have turned Damian in, but it was such fun to watch the artist work his trade! Besides, the guy even got him into a private poker game once. Alejandra gets the waiter to give her the address of the private poker game.

Lucio gives Yago the deeds to his house and casino, and asks Yago not to let Sara know. Yago assures Lucio that he's being a great father.

In the bedroom, Sara is murmuring, maybe even praying over the image from that first ultrasound. Lucio remembers it as the happiest moment of his life. He apologizes for chickening out at the rescue and promises that they'll get the money.

Melina is praying her head off at church. Yago tells her that Mati isn't home yet, but everything will be okay. "He's like a grandson to me," Melina says. Yago says he just might be her grandson. Melina is thrilled.

Damian is at the private poker game. Alejandra is there too. (Some guy tries to paw her, and a bouncer throws him out. It's a classy joint!) Ale gets Damian on video. Not sure what this will prove, but we'll see.

Fidel calls Lucio, with his voice disguised (why?), and tells Lucio to bring the 10 million someplace in half an hour. Yago is standing right in front of Fidel. Yago's phone rings; it's Lucio. The thing is, Yago says, there isn't time for him to bring the money to Lucio and for Lucio to get to the drop on time. But Yago can make the drop himself. Would that be okay? Of course that's okay with fraidy-cat Lucio.

There's a little bit of drama at the exchange for Mati's sake, but it all goes smoothly and the child is "rescued." Yago puts Mati on the phone with Lucio.

Meanwhile, at Yago's place, Katia checks the paternity test results and does not look pleased.

Yago brings Mati home.

Flashback: New mom Sara accidentally knocks over the trash basket and finds Lucio's crumpled-up paternity test. I have to be quick with the PAUSE button and I have to get right up to the TV screen, but I see the word: NEGATIVO. So does Sara. She goes outside to see Lucio being very sweet and tender with Matias, so she apparently decides to let it go.

Yago is watching Mati's happy reunion with Sara and Lucio when he receives the paternity results from Katia: POSITIVO. Yago clenches his teeth as Lucio and Sara hug his child and thank him for the rescue.

Wednesday: You think Yago was angry with Sara and Lucio before? He was just floating like a butterfly then. Now he's ready to sting like a bee.

Apparently some Joan Sebastian biopic will be airing at 10pm starting on June 27. No word on Yago's fate (again).

Does Lucio know Sara knows that he knows Matias is not his son? Sara knows that Lucio knows.

Melina was so happy to hear Matias could be her grandson.

Ooh! Sounds like a great episode. I can't wait to see it and then to read your recap, Julie. Unfortunately, won't get to do either until much later.

Fighting son for the TV last night to watch this (his TV is on the fritz), so I still have to see this. Sounds like it was pretty good overall.

I actually was hoping that this wouldn't make Yago go further gaga over Sara and instead added it to just another thing to tick off these people took from him. So that plot development I'm rather pleased about. There have been some tender moments with Lucio and Matias, so surprised he knew Matias wasn't his son. So are we looking at Lucio more and more as the one who got pulled along by Sara and Abel's and he was always the one stringing along, but couldn't really be the bad guy when push came to shove? We've seen him freeze a few times now. If that's the case, and Sara really is our cold-blooded real ring leader....line up that anvil now.

The question is though, is this revenge going to be worth it for Yago? Now he has a sone to consider. And Fidel is just using him for his own games. If he goes against Fidel, will Fidel simply take him down too?

Since we have such a Shakesperean/Dumas tragedy going on here, the body count will be going up I'm sure.

And so help me, Uni plays with this again....with soccer how has anyone had a chance to get regular viewing? It isn't that long of a TN, put it on a time slot and keep it there and no shifting to a station the najority of people are not going to pay for to see. GRRRR!!!!

Daisy, I don't see it that way (that Lucio was pulled along by Sara). He blackmailed Sara to worm his way into the plot to rob the casino.

I see it even less as Abel pulling anyone along. Sara and Lucio tricked Abel into killing the guard.

Yes, Lucio freezes when he's scared. But he was the one who was most insistent about keeping quiet about the whole thing. When Sara wanted to turn him in, he blackmailed her with the audio recording of her talking about the heist.

So Lucio is the one who doesn't like to get his actual hands dirty. But he doesn't mind having a dirty soul, and unlike Sara and Abel he's never expressed any regret for what they did to Omar. If anything, he was pleased to crush the "brother" that he always envied.

Sara may have been the brains of the operation, and Abel provided the muscle. But Lucio has always been the morale officer and executive director of their misdeeds. I still want him to die twice.

And as for the soccer... all the TNs have been affected by it. So we're not being picked on, as far as that's concerned. HOWEVER, this new thing starting June 27 has me worried. I dearly hope that if Yago has to move out of prime time, that it at least stays on Univision and preferably moves to an earlier (afternoon) slot rather than midnight.

Wow Julie. Thanks for the short and sweet. Haven't seen this yet but relieved to know that Mathias is going to be safe and sound. Now how the adults sort themselves out has me less concerned.

A bit bummed because the Cavs went down again last night. And at home. Think title hopes are over again for this year. Should have taken Draymond Green when we had the chance.

The recap is done. I like that this discovery seems to have Yago dark-side-of-the-Force mad. I hope we're not being misled, and that he'll stay Anakin Skywalker mad and not take pity on Sara.

More pre-emptions? Are they determined to kill this series?

Matias was always too handsome a child to be Lucio's in my opinion. Here's hoping he doesn't get hurt in the midst of all the adult violent action going on around him. Now that we know that Lucio has known for a long time we have to wonder what he will do about this.

Excellent. Enjoyed the expanded recap even more. Thanks Julie.

Agree with UA that Matias was too handsome to be Lucio's spawn. In fact his lovely thick hair is reminiscent of both Omar and Yago. But he actually seems feistier and more street-smart than his handsome, idealistic biological father.

He must get that from Sara.

Thanks for the recap. Now I'm starting to wonder where Katia's loyalties really are.

Cute title by the way. Always forget to mention that.

Katie is loyal to Yago, not Omar.

Omar is the one making rash decisions.

Thanks Julie! So mad about that new show coming up on 10 pm. Can't Uni stop disrespecting their best shows even for a week? If I was a show director it would really put me off developing quality shows when pussy networks like Uni wouldn't appreciate it. Yago should have been a Hulu exclusive.

Yago is looking more and more like a giant wimp. He knew that revenge wasn't going to be easy and that it would sometimes require immoral and illegal acts to achieve his goals. It reminds me of a student studying medicine only to get put off by the first autopsy. No mobster does free things just for charity. They get dumb ,insensitive people in the dark game by offering "free" things but everything has a price in the wide deep end. Perhaps Yago will flip when Alejandra or Bruno get killed!

I don't feel bad for Sara. She didn't have the same reactions as Lucio did. To me Sara is worse than Lucio. Lucio atleast cares for Matias but Sara has no redeeming qualities at all.

Gracias Julie

Lucio is so stupid, he might think negativo means "he is not Yago's kid" so he must be mine

This is the best we have now, but I find my mind wandering during this novela, the late hour I'm sure has sth to do with it, but Hotel had my undivided attention.
I am enjoying Gran Hotel, which I watch on weekends. Differences, but interesting & the comparisons are fun.

Thanks so much, Julie. I enjoyed the episode and every word of your recap.

Whatever the motive, Lucio has been a good and loving father to Matias, even knowing he isn't his bio child. But I'm glad this revelation has gotten Yago fired up again about what they took from him.

Oh, and I too loved the title. :)

Variopinta, I have a hard time focusing on this novela because of the late hour. I had trouble focusing on Hotel for the same reason. Hotel was a little easier because it usually wasn't as harsh, but the late hour has its price. I have no trouble with Yago when I watch it earlier in the day OnDemand or whatever, and I had no trouble with it when it was on at 9.

I often drop off during the commercials. I think what is happening is that I'm exerting some effort during the show, and then my energy drops during the commercials because there is nothing to sustain my attention. I've observed that if I watch something less demanding when I'm tired, the commercial breaks aren't as apt to knock me out. Interesting phenomenon... all those times I complained when Uni ran a comedy during the 10 o'clock hour, I didn't know how lucky I was. Turns out it's easier to watch something light and silly at 10 pm.

Great recap Julie

Sara always pulling a scam went straight to Lucio to tell him he's the father once she decided to keep it.

Well Sara and Lucio now have no income sources so where does Yago go from here? He has destroyed them professionally so now he must drive them apart.

We were discussing the other day how Sara was reacting to the kidnapping but last night I thought Ambar wasn't upset enough. I'm an aunt and if it was either of my nephews in Matias' place I would have been an emotional wreck.

Can't believe Uni is moving this show again! Ugh

I'm actually kind of happy to not have the shrieking, blubbering women we usually find in most tns. Not all women react to a crisis that way, especially when you're trying to hold it together for others like Ambar was.

But Vivi it didn't even look like she was trying to hold it together. She looked kinda apathetic to me. If there was any kind of intensity to her I would have understood. I get tired of the crying women too but I just didn't feel any emotion from her. She seemed like she was sleepwalking through her scenes to me.

Carvivlie- True. She did seem chillaxed. Perhaps it's the meds she's on, or perhaps she knows she needs to take things easy because of her heart problem?

Omg no way! Do you think they'll really take it off air? It's getting so good. I wonder how the ratings are, but I enjoy it.

Variopinta--How are you watching Gran Hotel? Is it on Hulu or Netflix? I'd like to see it also.

JudyB
I get Gran Hotel on Hulu, that I recently got, so I wouldn't miss any El Hotel episodes.
It resumes where you left off.

Judy, I was recently watching Grand Hotel on a Spanish-language PBS station. They were nearing the end, but there might still be a few weeks left, because they were airing just one episode per week. I saw enough of it to appreciate Uni's version even more. I found the original a bit blah by comparison! They had a very photogenic cast, though.

Sara and Lucio own a few more properties (they were talking about them when trying to raise the first 5 million). They are going to have to unload those quick if they want their casino back. Indeed, their house and casino are worth a lot more than the 10 million they think they borrowed. And after they pay that debt, if they can pay it (I think they can't), they still owe Yago another 5 million.

This is how the Count of MC got one of his revenges - lending a lot of money and then calling in the debt. But we're only 1/3 of the way through this story. We still have to deal with Fidel's revenge, too, and we barely know the story behind that. Camilo probably felt that he had a good reason for killing Fidel's kids - so what did Fidel do to Camilo? We might not agree that Fidel's kids deserved to pay for it, but something tells me it wasn't anything trivial either.

Julie- That was my thinking too. For a feud to get to the point where little kids are getting killed, something REALLY bad must have gone down before that. Either that or Camilo is just one evil SOB. Julia still doesn't deserve to get hurt because of that, so Fidel clearly hasn't learned his lesson from the ordeal.

Thanks, Julie. Fab title and recap.

I'm enjoying every episode and would watch them twice if I had the time. So many angles/points in a single scene.

I too like that Sara and Ambar weren't over the board crying. Some folks cry, others try to stay calm though it's killing them. In Ambar's case, I think there's also naivete. Nothing evil (sickness, yes -- but not evil) has ever directly happened in her world, so she assumes money will satisfy the kidnappers and is optimistic that Matias will return pronto in one piece. Sara has seen ugly evil up close and isn't so sure, but she's had a lifetime of needing to keep her cool and stay in control though she's aching.

If it sounds like I like Sara, I don't. She's done nothing as an adult to change her situation and doesn't seem torn up by boinking Ambar's almost boyfriend.

Ay, what is Alejandra doing stalking Damian all by herself? Mujer, puhleeze tell Bruno what you're up to.

For all he is, Lucio has been a good dad to a kid he's known wasn't his bio. That counts for something, but I'm not sure what.

The guy playing Lorenzo is doing a good job. He was menacing at first, but now he's loving and vulnerable and it all seems realistic.

Am I the only one that thought Abel would catch gangrene. How long did it take him to have that wound cleaned?

Univision, keep the show where it is!

Thanks Julie.

I'm not buying the trust in Yago, a guy Sara and Lucio barely know. I'm ok with greed making them take short cuts but to allow Yago to handle the transaction to recover their son, unbelievable?

I have confidence Omar the beta orbiter is performing the mental gymnastics to justify setting up house with Sara and raising their son. If they could just get rid of her husband.

By accident Lucio discovered Sara taking the plans from Omar's room and all Lucio had to do is ask (ok he threatened to tell Omar but kinda nice like) and Sara brought him in the deal and her bed right away.

Tofie- It was Lucio that was allowing Yago to take charge, not Sara. Each time he put things in Yago's hands (panicking at the first money drop, and handing over the deeds to negotiate with the kidnappers), he asked Yago and others to keep it secret from Sara. Sara is the one who went to Damian, against Lucio's orders, precisely because she didn't think Lucio (with help from Yago and Abel) could get the job done.

Where Sara DID accept Yago's help was in getting the money, and pressing Lucio to put aside his male pride to accept the money. That to me is totally understandable.

Do we now why Fiidel was in prison? If not, I'm guessing it has sth to do with Camilo

We don't know why Fidel was in prison, but it was probably gangster-related. Perhaps he was framed.

I've wondered why Fidel "knew" that Omar wasn't to blame for the casino heist. How would he have known about that unless he had inside information on what had really happened? Don't forget, Fidel was a former owner of the casino that Sara et al robbed.

Tks Julie, I missed the fact that Fidel once owned the casino.

I don't know if he owned it at the time of the heist, or if he was already an ex-owner at that point. But it does put an interesting spin on things, yes?

Now we know that Fidel & Selma kidnapped Matias: this is getting good!

Katia pulled a Maury Povich & discovered that Yago was the kid's biological father!

Vivi: I still see Ambar not making it alive before the Gran Final because she's obviously a sacrificial lamb!

Steve, those dna results came back pretty quick.

I would be surprised if Ambar made it to the end too. I think her heart condition will show up.

Looks like no Yago until Wed

Thank you Julie. Now that school is officially over, I will now have more time to devote to this great show. Now if they would only show the episodes....

So Fidel was in jail before Omar was, and I'm quite certain he owned the casino at one time. But we don't have enough info yet to figure out any more.

I'm glad to see Yago back to hating on Sara and Lucio. Now he knows that Lucio stole his life, his wife, his parents and brother, and now his baby.

Cathyx: I'm hoping to see Yago pull a Luis (see Un Cambio).

Are the shows pre-empted tonight, too?

UA, someone above said this show won't be on again until Wednesday.

But only Yago is being pre-empted tonight. 3xAna will be on.

The full lineup is on tonight. No futbol!

Julie: Thank God the show's back on!

Now we can pass the popcorn while Yago plots to destroy those, who stole 12 years of his life.

Loved the recap, Julie. Will finish the ep this evening.

Question from the previous ep (I think). Was the little boy who played Lucio's younger brother in the flashback the same little boy who played Fanny's boyfriend's son in Mi Corazon es Tuyo?

Nanette

Nanette- Yes.

Thanks, Vivi. That little boy is soooo cute. Too bad we didn't see more of him.

Wonder where Little Brother is now?

Oooh good thought Nanette. Where is Lucio's little brother? (I take it Lucio wouldn't know him if he saw him - but I bet he'd recognize his name!)
