Yago #30. Tuesday July 5, 2016. A Bunch Of People Not Careful What They Wish For

Sweetie, it's a misunderstanding! Your boyfriend fell on top of me by accident and the unintentional friction unzipped his pants! This is all very unfortunate!

Hello Patio Pals! We’ll have to make do with a summary until a volunteer takes over this recapping spot.

Fidel’s men encircle Camilo’s men and point their weapons at Camilo. To everyone’s surprise, Selma arrives to the rendezvous. She has a gun and threatens to shoot Camilo for killing her daughter, Fabiana. Camilo wants to have a chat: “You’re on the wrong side! Let me talk to you first!” Selma is determined to kill Camilo but Fidel convinces her to lower her gun and he takes her away. The Mexican standoff is over.

Lucio’s legal troubles make the local news. Abel dodged a bullet. Had he agreed to sign the papers to lend his name to Lucio’s business transactions, he would have been in jail now. Abel believes he is cursed: Everyone he cares about ends up ruined. “Stay away from me!” he warns Teo.

Matías asks his mom to promise him that she will help get his father out of jail.

Camilo thanks Yago for putting him in touch with Fidel. Yago has doubts over whether he chose the right side. Didn't Selma say Camilo killed her daughter, Fabiana? Camilo refuses to comment on this , all he agrees to say is that every revenge has the occasional innocent victims, the collateral damage, if you will. Not a peep to Julia about what Yago heard! Yago acquiesces.

At Casa Yampolski, Fidel and Selma exchange blame. He scolds her for nearly getting herself killed and she berates him for stopping her from killing Camilo and savoring the sight of him drowning in a pool (charco) of blood. “And you’ll be (drowning in blood) next to him, just like Fabiana!” Selma slaps Fidel. He tells her she is the most important thing in his life, the most valuable, more so that his revenge and his revenge is everything to him. Selma emphasizes the fact that “this is our revenge just like this is our love”. Yago shows up and Selma accuses him of treason. However, it turns out that Fidel and Yago had planned everything together since the day Yago was going to have dinner at Camilo’s house. They say it was a calculated risk but Salma isn’t convinced: Fidel could’ve died today. “We must think of the next step”, says Yago. “Yes, the game is now open and the war has been declared!”, adds Fidel, “Anything can happen at any time. Keep your alibi (coartada) checked. Camilo hasn’t bitten the bait yet”. Selma warns the two of them against keeping her out of the loop again. This is her revenge too.

Sara bumps into Bruno on her way out of Casa Guerrero. He asks how Matías is doing. He’s inconsolable and Sara feels impotent because she can’t alleviate his suffering when the person he loves the most is in jail. Bruno knows what that feels like. This indirect allusion to Omar makes Sara eager to leave. Bruno stops her: Will somebody else be visiting Matías at Casa Guerrero: Sara’s sister? Sara’s father? Bruno adds that he only recently learnt from Matías that Sara’s dad was still alive. Sara says she doesn’t get on well with her father so he won’t be visiting Matías any time soon.

Katia and Teo update Yago on Alejandra. They are positive that Damián had something to do with her disappearance and perhaps even her death. Yago has a plan but he doesn’t want Fidel’s men involved.

Camilo is drunk as a skunk listening to Selma’s version of “Usted”. Julia walks in. Camilo sits her on his lap like when she was a baby. “You are the light of my life”, he declares. Julia says she recognizes the voice of the woman singing and asks who she is. Camilo turns off the record and orders Julia out: “Get out! Go to sleep!” “But it’s daytime, Dad!”, she protests. “Out!”, he yells in his drunken stupor.

And now for the comic relief of the night: Abel visits Lucio in jail. Lucio hugs him from behind, happy to see his compañere. “I saw you on TV”, announces Abel, matter-of-factly. “Do you want me to give you an autograph?”, asks Lucio. “No, I prefer you give me an explanation”. Abel says he dodged a bullet by refusing to sign the papers Lucio wanted him to sign. Had Abel gone along with the plan, “I’d be here dressed in yellow, like a little chicken, like you!” Lucio continues to deny deny deny! He never tried to set Abel up, otherwise, he wouldn’t have signed the papers himself and landed himself in jail. Abel says he won’t fall for Lucio’s malarkey, like when they were kids. “Oh get over yourself! I’m the one stuck in the can, I’m the one who lost!”, says Lucio. “We all lost, ever since we did what we did to Omar. None of us won!”, replies Abel. He puts his palm over Lucio’s face in guise of goodbye. He heads towards the door then comes back and quietly sets the cigarette he was toying with on the table in front of Lucio.

Julia sneaks into Camilo’s office. He’s passed out, so she steals the cassette tape and plays it in her room. She is visibly shaken by the voice that sounds so familiar. Later on, when she asks about the identity of the singing woman, Camilo declines to answer.

Katia, dressed as a ninja, ambushes Damián is his hotel suite. She demands to know where Alejandra is. He pretends he’s been looking for her everywhere because of the money she owes him (from the bungled inheritance scam). Katia says she’ll investigate the matter, but if she finds Damián has been lying to her, she’s going to bust a cap in his lying behind. She shoots a vase to illustrate her point then pistol-whips Damián goodbye. Meanwhile, Teo waits for Katia outside, worried  about her safety.

Yago tells Fidel he won’t rest until Lucio is sentenced to jail. Even jail won’t pay back a fraction of what Omar suffered. Fidel says that what he had endured when he lost his kids was way harder than Omar’s ordeal. He hopes that once the two of them get their respective revenge plans implemented, they can finally be at peace.

Katia goes to Yago’s lair to verify some info. She bumps into Sara who doesn’t want her to get the wrong impression about her relationship with Yago. Sara is not seeing Yago behind her sister’s back. Katia tells her that everyone has their own Achilles heel.

Damián arrives to Yago’s lair. Sara had called him earlier to quiz him about his relationship with Bruno and to order him to stay away from the Guerrero family. Teo, who has been following Damián around, calls Katia to warn her the old crook is outside Yago's place, but his calls don't go through. Katia goes out and bumps into Damián. He recognizes her wristwatch and maybe her voice as well.

Camilo has a mighty hangover (una cruda). He and Tomás discuss the Spaniard. Camilo considers him a player in their team, for the time being. Tomás is a little skeptical: “You reckon a guy like Fidel would leave the dark side just like that and reveal himself?” Camilo says he doesn't trust Yago either but he is their direct link (vínculo) to Fidel. “As long as he stays useful to us... And when he is not, then he's not.” Camilo doesn't need to elaborate, he and Tomás understand each other perfectly.

Mauricio, Lucio’s lawyer, rehearses with Sara her courtroom statements. Words like “exemplary” and “honest” are being thrown around willy-nilly. He gives her a letter from Lucio.

Ámbar has an overnight photo assignment and she comforts Sara before leaving. Sara tells her the lawyer insists on depicting Lucio to the court as a saint and she promised Mati she’ll do everything to help his dad. Ámbar doesn't see why Sara ought to help Lucio. It’s not her fault he is in jail. She has no obligation to stay tied to him just because he helped her one time in the past. Lucio’s help saved your life, dummy! Ámbar maintains this is Sara’s opportunity to get rid of Lucio and start a new life. Yep, these two heifers definitely share Damián’s disgusting genes. “It’s not that easy”, replies Sara. “Lucio and I have a long history together. He is Mati’s father and, despite everything, I have affection for him”. “You feel affection for him or love?” probes Ámbar. The nosy photographer thinks Sara sacrificed herself enough in the past, for Ámbar, then for Damian, then for Mati and now for Lucio... When will she think of herself? Yep, Ámbar deserves to get bamboozled.

Mauricio visits Lucio in jail to tell him that Sara agreed to everything. “Your wife loves you”, declares the legal mastermind. He reminds Lucio to invite him to eat Kobe beef washed down with two bottles of sake, once he gets him out of jail.

Ámbar is packing her photo equipment. “Are you moving out?”, asks Yago. “And leave the castle of my prince charming? No! I’m not crazy!”, replies Ámbar. She would have preferred to stay because Sara is testifying in Lucio’s court case in a few hours but duty calls. Ámbar confesses she’d like to see Lucio convicted. It’s the only way that Sara can be free and happy. However, it looks like Sara is prepared to follow her husband to Hell, according to Ámbar.

Lucio’s letter says: “Sara, I know I don’t deserve you but, ever since I met you, everything I have done was to try to gain your love.” Sara doesn’t finish reading it.

At Casa Michell, Camilo and Tomás finish a conversation to which the viewers were not privy. Camilo says: Entonces, mi idea es infligirle una fuerte llaga al dichoso Yago. (Therefore, my idea is to inflict a violent wound on the blessed/darn Yago”) and laughs at his own pun (llaga and Yago”). Tomás takes his leave. Julia greets her dad and asks how he is feeling. It has been a while since Camilo had a hangover (una resaca) quite like this one. Is it because he remembered her mom? asks Julia. Camilo says he thinks about her mom every single day but there are days harder than others. His eyes fill with tears. Julia kisses his head and says that love stories like the one he shared with her mom no longer exist; it's both sad but very romantic. Julia asks about the recording he was listening to: Was it a song that her mother liked? Camilo doesn't want to talk about it.

After Ámbar leaves for her photo assignment, Yago convinces a reluctant Sara to testify against Lucio even if she promised her son to help his father. The life, family, and happiness Sara has always dreamt of are with Yago, not with Lucio. Yago keeps repeating the same arguments over and over, almost hypnotizing her. He dangles a myriad of glimmering mirages in front of her and seals his razzle-dazzle show with passionate kisses. They start getting down and dirty but Ámbar catches them in the act. She ditched her job assignment to accompany her big sister to court, the sucker! Sara lies saying that this is the first time ithappens. Ámbar doesn’t believe her and calls her a piece of garbage and a traitor. Sara runs after her. Yago is angry at himself, not because Ámbar is hurt, but because this little contretemps is jeopardizing his plans. What if Sara refuses to testify against Lucio today?

Sara does testify at court and she says that Lucio knew exactly the kind of business dealings he was getting himself into. In fact, he was happy when he signed the contracts. Sara says she wasn’t OK with her husband’s fraudulent business practices and this put a strain on their marriage. Thankfully, Melina and Jonás had not allowed little Mati to be at the courtroom and witness this sad spectacle. Sara leaves the witness stand (estrado) calmly, saying a monotone: “Forgive me!” to Lucio on her way out. Lucio loses his rag: “You’re a traitor! You’re a swine!”

A quote from the capítulo

“Cuando no tienes miedo de morir, la vida te recompensa. Nadie te puede doblegar.”

*Fidel deludes himself into thinking he is still in control of his life: “When you don’t fear death, life rewards you. Nobody can defeat you.”

Hey amig@s! Enjoy the summary and discussion!

Good night :)

Nandicta- Oh, joy! I just finished watching the episode. Love having it up. Thanks you. And by the way, this was NOT a mini recap but a full one.

I get why Ambar is telling Sara not to put her hand into the legal fire for Lucio and start her life afresh. They way Sara spun things, she's ALWAYS sacrificed herself for others. And Lucio paying for Ambar's first surgery was nothing but blackmail to get Sara to marry him. He didn't give a flip about helping Ambar. She knows that.

I got great pleasure seeing Sara do to Lucio in court what she did to Yago. Although I know it will destroy Mati. But let's face it, both his parents belong in jail, so this kid is doomed to have a rough time of it.

Don't like Damian being on to Katia.

I'm very glad Ambar now knows how Yago and Sara have been betraying her.

Wow, double duty 2 in a row. Thank you so much Nandicta. You make it look so easy, but having done recapping, I know the truth.

Wonderful recap Nandicta.

When Sara lied at Omar's hearing I remember she said " lo siento" to him while walking out. I think Yago remembered it perfectly by the look on his face. Lucio now knows almost exactly how Omar felt, except Omar was innocent.

Ambar sees the good in people and she was able to rationalize away Sara's dirty deeds, which was driving me nuts. But now she knows how dirty her sister is. I do feel bad for Ambar bec now she has no one. I hope she still goes thru with the operation bec I don't want her to die bec of this.

Katia is soo not a super spy. And now Damian has her in his sights! Ugh this is bad.

If Camilo was able to talk to Selma would he have told her the truth? I now no longer think he wants Fidel to murder Julia, as ultimate revenge. She seems to be the only good on his life. Of course he will lose her once the whole awful truth comes out.

My thoughts:

Carvivile: Having a bad feeling Katia will NOT be among the living when all is said & done.

I'm glad that Ambar FINALLY sees what's going on between Yago & Sara. She should've been with Abel to begin with anyway.

Vivi: Don't see Lucio staying in prison too long.

Cathyx: Julia & Selma both have red hair. How long before Maury Povich figures this out ?

Nandicta: Now that Damian has Katia in his sights, is Teo likely to be targeted as well ?

Nandicta I forgot to mention how much I love that pic of Ivan Sanchez Resting Face. Wow he looks hot. I love a man in a grey sweater.

Steve, I'm hoping since Damian doesn't know about Teo and Katia as a couple that this will save Katia. I'd love to see Damian go after Katia and Teo take him out, saving her.

Ambar with that loser idiot killer Abel? Uh, NO. She needs to move into Melina and Jonas's place with Mati, and later take off with Mati to go live in another country.

I wonder how the Ambar part of the story will now play out, will she just ride into the sunset and disappear? Sara and Yago had been so careless so often, i'm not surprised that she caught them. Ambar will move out, Sara will stay there with Mati, and Lucio will stay in jail. Next, Yago has to get Mati a way from Sara.

We are halfway through this one.

I assume that Julia will eventually have a memory of Selma, who i believe is her mother, singing that song to Julia as a child. Then more questions for Camilo.

Julia was definitely having some memory, although deeply buried, when she was listening to the song. She recorded it on her cell phone, so she definitely plans to investigate. Now, she just needs to get out of that fortress.

Vivi: IF Julia ever gets out of Camilo's torture chamber of a mansion.

We never saw Julia's 'mother', Camilo's wife. Camilo talks about her, but i wonder if he ever did get married, if she really existed, and he just tells julia that she died when she was younger, and Julia's memories are really of Selma. Julia did say that she had lots of fears of being kidnapped when she was younger and it took lots of therapy to get over it. All this adds up to her being Fidel and Selma's daughter.

Good morning to you and you and you! :)

Thanks Vivi, Cathyx, Carvivlie and Steve for getting the conversation rolling!

I discovered that I missed an important scene (I kept dozing off yesterday), so I added it this morning. Here's the paragraph in question:

"At Casa Michell, Camilo and Tomás finish a conversation to which the viewers were not privy. Camilo says: “Entonces, mi idea es infligirle una fuerte llaga al dichoso Yago”. (“Therefore, my idea is to inflict a violent wound on the blessed/darn Yago”) and laughs at his own pun (“llaga” and “Yago”). Camilo doesn't want to talk about it."

Great comments all around!

Vivi, at first, I didn't know why I disliked Ámbar. It felt as if she grated on my nerves for no particular reason and I thought it may be the actress. However, yesterday I put my finger on it. It's defo not the actress, it's the character. In the first episodes of the show, I thought Ámbar displayed to the world a fake air of self-sufficiency while clinging like a barnacle to a man who is clearly not into her. Other than this, she seemed alright. Cluelessness and being an obnoxious fresa are not a sin. Yesterday, Ámbar's conversations with Sara and Yago, prior to discovering their deceit, revealed to me why I'm not a big fan of hers (I don't wish Ámbar any harm, I just don't particularly like her). I finally put my finger on it: Ámbar is lowkey self-absorbed, self-interested and hypocritical. She is a Madrigal for sure, just a watered down version. Lucio is not a saint but he helped save her life, he opened his home to her and I'm pretty sure that his money partly paid for the studies and expenses that turned her into the successful photographer she now is. Still, my biggest gripe with her attitude in this episode is her total disregard for Mati's feelings. Did she mention him even once in her alternative scenario for Sara's new life? Lucio is a douche but he is an excellent father and his kid just adores him. Did Ámbar stop to think how the imprisonment she wished on Lucio would affect her nephew? Did she forget that if she had words with Lucio and left his house in a huff it was precisely because he was protecting his son from her disgusting and violent father? Did she forget how unhappy her nephew was when he was made to stay at Yago's instead of going with his dad like he wanted? Did she forget when Sara told her that she saw her child break down when he witnessed his dad's arrest? Besides, what makes her think her sainted sister is not involved in Lucio's crooked business dealings? Sara is Lucio's business partner! How could Ámbar discard everything she learnt about the casino heist and Sara's role in framing an innocent man? Even if Sara embellished her account of what happened, what she said she did to Omar was still really despicable. These are my reasons for disliking Ámbar, though I'm glad she found out the truth last night so she can start thinking of something other than her own happiness and that of her wonderful big sis.

Carvivlie, glad you liked the photo! The man IS yummy! :)

As for the episode, sorry if I seem to have it for Ámbar but I feel the emotional shock she received yesterday is the best thing that could've happened to her. She needs new and better influences in her life. Living in a bubble filled with selfish, manipulative and two-faced people was wrecking her life and her personality. I hope her operation is a success and she can start a new chapter where she can receive empathy and show it to others as well.

I agree the courtroom scene was excellent. They drew the parallel between the two betrayals really well.

"Katia is soo not a super spy." And to think she gave Teo all that attitude: "I'm a professional! I'm trained for this! Bla bla bla" :D

Cathyx, you raised very interesting points about Julia's memory of her mom and so did Vivi. I don't know about you guys, but my earliest childhood memories start at 4 years old and they are very foggy. Fabiana (Julia?) was kidnapped at 3, I think. What puzzles me even more, and it is partly because I'm now watching the unintentional comedy "La Madrastra", is what was Julia told about her mom? Does she have pictures, a name, a backstory. In "La Madrastra", the father tell his kids their mom died (she is in prison) and all they know of her is a painted portrait hanging over the chimney and a fake name. No photos, nothing. Did Camilo do something similar, though not quite so drastic, with Julia? Minimal info about her mother. Also, how do we know for sure that Julia is Fidel's daughter. Perhaps when Fidel and Selma says our children, he means the two boys he had with his ex-wife Raquel and she means the little girl she had with????

Steve, I think the biggest danger with Dam knowing that Katia was in his room is linking Yago to Alejandra. Katia is Yago's right-hand person and she was asking about Ale's disappearance. Dam is gonna wanna know why Yago is interested in Ale? The other risk is, if Dam starts spying on Katia, he discovers she has something to do with Teo, who is supposed to be loyal to Abel. Of course, there is also the risk you mentioned that both Katia and Teo find themselves in harm's way because of Katia's rookie mistake.

Have a great day, everyone! Enjoy the discussion! I'll try to pop in again this evening! :)

Gracias Nandicta!

Wow this was a cruel episode for Mati&Ambar. Yago&Sara are both narcisstic douchebags and belong to eachother. I don't care for Yago's revenge anymore. Camilo was wise telling him that revenge comes with it's innocent victims. Fidel's monologue about being untouchable was deep but at the same time pompous and arrogant. What will happen if Fidel loses Selma?

Now that Lucio got betrayed by Sara and his closest friends do we see him start his own revenge series "Lucio" ? In all seriousness I can already see Camilo manipulating Lucio into linking up their interests. Kind of like Megatron and Unicron!

Sara is a lying beach. Lucio may have been a jealous douchebag but he gave Sara monetary freedom and security just at the time Damian mentally left her for dead. If Lucio turns psycho , it will all be Sara's fault.

Nandicta- I definitely see your point. All in all, I think almost all the characters have ignored how all of this would affect Mati.

I'm guessing during all those sessions with the psychologist to forget the kidnapping, Camilo had them seed some fake mama memories in Julia.

As for memories from pre-four years old, yeah most are gone. But some things do remain. I shocked my parents many years ago when I described for them exactly my baby crib in Jamaica right down to the color and the humming bird painted on it, even though we have no pictures of it and they had never mentioned it. I have a clear memory of it and their bed just beyond it, since my crib was in their room. It strange what the brain holds on to and what it discards.

Hulu sure likes to hide the newest episodes. It's taking a bit of sleuthing skills lately to find it, but #31 is up.

Always a great read Nandicta and well thought out and articulated profile of Ambar. Thanks.

Now Vivi, I doesn't surprise me in the least your recollection of your crib. I don't believe I've been exposed to anyone with your memory.

I hope the blinders are off Ambar and she admits Yago played with her. It's not all Sara.

Ambar lost me early. The arrogance of youth facilitated by a safety net.

Why didn't Yago go after Sara first and imprison her? She's the hub of the broken wheel. Oh wait, Yago didn't sleep with Lucio.

Vivi, i always knew you had a remarkable memory.

If Lucio now stays in jail what is Yago's plan for Sara? I'm worried he is/will diminish her role in Omar's downfall. I'm hoping Sara's display on the stand reinforced to Yago that, in the end, Sara always chooses herself. All of those feelings for Lucio she talked about went out the window.

I think Sara had a huge role in molding Ambar. Lucio has a way of ingratiating himself with people and making them like him. If he and Ambar aren't close it is because Sara made sure of it. Ambar could have been sent away to school or Sara intentionally kept them separated. Thus, Ambar only knows Lucio through what Sara gave her and I'm sure it wasn't lovey dovey. Lucio had no reason to dislike Ambar. If it weren't for her need of surgery he never would have gotten Sara to marry him. Sara is a master manipulator. I'm sure Ambar only saw what Sara wanted her to see, that is why she was so convinced that Lucio was bad and Sara an abused wife.

Must admit I'm really interested in the Julia story line yet. Maybe because I can't sympathize much with Selma and Fidel after the torture scene of Raul. I finally realized who Fidel looks like, Papa Smurf!

Thanks, Nandicta. I thought this was quite thorough!

Watching on Hulu sometimes causes little spoilers because they show the real title of the episode. This episode was titled "Bad Wife" (or maybe it was "traitorous wife," but something like that.) So I wasn't feeling much suspense over Sara's testimony. I knew she'd sell Lucio down the river.

You know, it would have been nice for Fidel to tell Selma about the setup with Camilo BEFORE it happened. Or at least much earlier in the argument they had afterwards.

By the way, is there something wrong with my TV, or was Fidel's jacket purple? Who wears a purple jacket besides the Joker??

Sweet of Abel to leave his cigarette with Lucio. Lucio can trade that in for a two-punch discount at his next beatdown.

I'm impressed that Julia happened to have a cassette player. Those aren't so easy to come by any more these days.

Nandicta, I sympathize with your criticisms of Ambar, but I also see how she's been struggling to process what she's learned about her family. I think she's been trying to reconcile what she used to believe with what she's recently discovered. Obviously, it's been a bumpy road, but I think this latest episode will provide her with the clarity she needs! Unfortunately it might also dissuade her from having the surgery now that she believes that everybody in her life has been using her. I agree that seeing Yago with Sara was the best thing that could have happened to her. I find it hard to watch this happening to a basically nice person who would never con, swindle, or harm anyone - hell I don't think she even knows how to lie.

I'm still not convinced that Julia is Selma's daughter. Selma and Fidel have never seemed to entertain the possibility that she is Fabiana. One way they might be sure is if Julia's age is wrong. We don't know how old she is or how old Fabiana would be.

I do have some memories from age 3. They're not very elaborate and they tend to be vivid impressions of mundane things, like the time I tasted my bedroom curtains because they were the same color as lemonade. Turns out polyester (or nylon) voile tastes terrible and not refreshing at all.

Carvivlie, my theory of Yago's plan for Sara is that he wants to marry her, become Mati's legal guardian, and then betray Sara. I don't think there's any other way he can gain custody of Mati. And there are some obvious risks in this plan!

Julie- LOL about the curtains! :)

Cathyx, thanks for saying that #31 is ready on Hulu. No kidding, I was prepared to worry all day that it wouldn't show up till nearly 11 pm like Monday's episode did. I can't stay up that late to recap!

But couldn't he get custody of Matias without marrying her? If he puts her away in jail too he can come out as Omar and show he is the true father. I worry marriage will backfire on Yago.

Yago needs to somehow get Sara out of the way and then show the DNA test to prove he's Mati's father to get custody of him. How to get Sara out of the way? She needs to either die or go to jail.

Doesn't Selma sing at a nightclub? That could be where Julia's heard her sing.

And lots of people have red hair. Camilo might have a thing for redheads.

I don't know if being Mati's biological father is enough for Yago get custody of him. I don't know what the law says about that in the US, much less in Mexico, if someone already has two legal parents whose names are on the birth certificate. But I assume the odds improve if both parents are dead or in prison.

Sara is smarter than Lucio. I don't see it being that easy to get her in jail, especially since the video of the robbery only showed Abel and Lucio.

It might be easier to get Sara on a new crime than convict her for an old one. Having seen how Yago set Lucio up, Sara probably can't be entrapped by Yago directly. But it seems inevitable that she'll eventually want to betray Yago. That's just how she is. If Yago anticipates this he can set a trap for her that way.

Thanks Nandicta. Terrific recap, definitely not a summary. Thanks for explaining Claudio’s play on words with llaga and Yago.

What a thrill to see Omar/Yago manipulate Sara to testify against Lucio just as she did to him. I’m wondering if Jonas saw the parallel and if it triggers him to wonder about Omar’s guilt.

I guess Sara stopped worrying about losing her son’s love if she didn’t help his daddy.

So glad Ambar finally knows about Sara and Yago. Interesting that all her wrath was against Sara, not Yago, and that Yago worried only about screwing up his plan and not about hurting Ambar. I can’t feel *that* bad for Ambar because it’s been clear Yago isn’t into her. But maybe Ambar thought he was holding back because he didn’t want to send her into cardiac arrest again.

Nandicta, I’m not high on Ambar either. She’s done nobody wrong, but she does have a selfish, clingy bent. Little sis advising Sara to just kick Lucio to the curb was low. He paid for the expensive operation that saved her life, he’s been a good father to Mati, and he let her be a guest rent-free in their home. Why not advise her to help him but also divorce him? Carvivlie, ITA Sara steered Ambar to believe she (Sara) deserves better than Lucio. Ambar ticked me off back when she was insolent with Lucio because he was worried when she took Mati out without telling him after the boy had been rescued from being kidnapped. She was arrogant and immature in dissing Lucio at that point.

Does everybody think that Claudio was going to tell Selma that Julia is her daughter if she had given into his pleadings for them to have a private moment? I am getting too much of a kick out of Claudio. Being drunk out of his head and telling his daughter to go to bed when it was daytime was hoot. And telling Tomás when Yago is no longer needed, well, he’s no longer needed.

Niecie- It certainly seemed like telling Selma that her daughter is alive is the only thing Camilo could have possibly had to say to her. I mean, what else could he possibly think she would want to hear out of his mouth? What that showdown showed was that Camilo is still crazy for Selma and doesn't want to kill her (although he would easily doom her to a life without her child and believing that child murdered-- true or not). He immediately told his men to stand down when she came on the scene, even though she was pointing a gun at his head.

I'm betting Sara DIES in the end.

I've not been on the Ambar train because I think Ambar is a spoiled brat who wasn't going to do anything with the truths she demanded. She doesn't deserve to be betrayed by Sara & Yago but that betrayal was the only thing that was going to make her jump off the gravy train. The only reason she left Lucio's house was because Lucio (rightfully) snapped at her for taking Matias out without letting him know (fresh off a kidnapping). Otherwise she would've still been in Lucio's house eating his food & sleeping on his sheets. And who is paying for this operation? Lucio but she's all too eager to have Lucio sent to jail so she can enjoy sleeping in his house and eating his food.

Anon207, what makes you think that Lucio is paying for Ambar's operation? Ambar has a pretty good career and her own money now.

Well if Ambar has her own money so much so to pay for an expensive operation, why is she staying with Sara & Lucio?

I say "Lucio" because anything and everything Sara & Ambar have now is due to Lucio.

I suppose Ambar was staying with Lucio and Sara because, as a photojournalist, one has to travel frequently, so it's not very sensible to pay for a place when you're not there very often.

As for Everything being paid for by Lucio, when a couple is married, all the property is community property, unless there is a prenuptial agreement. They had been married for 10 years?, and Sara is also co-owner of the casino, and she's worked there from the beginning.

Thanks for another marvelous recap Nandicta, even though you called it a summary. I agree with everyone that it was more than that.

And yes, Vivi, with your incredible memory. Not surprised at all. Some of my memories go back to age 3 but only dramatic moments. Like getting stung by a bunch of bees. And the awful feel of the white starched tablecloth on my blistered legs afterwards when I sat down to dinner. My dad burned the whole bush down from where they swarmed.

But remembering the crib you were in as a baby! No way. Wow. But not surprised.

Sara wouldn't have had ANY of that without Lucio, though. Damian stole her portion of the robbery proceeds.

So it is correct to say that it's Lucio's money that's been financing Ambar all these years since Sara wouldn't have had any of it had she not married Lucio.

At any rate, Ambar was being a brat by leaving the house because Lucio (again, rightfully) upbraided her for taking Matias out of the house without letting him know about it (this, right after the kid was recovered from a kidnapping).

I don't think Lucio had the smarts to grow his stolen money into the vast wealth he and Sara had at the start of this. I think that was all Sara. Lucio would have eventually ended up broke like Abel without her business sense. We've seen how quickly he's pulled them under while following his own instincts.

Sorry!! I meant to post a discussion header before I left work, but didn't remember until I was in the parking lot. I'll have the discussion header up in a few minutes.

No problem Julie.

Vivi: Yet, Lucio, Abel & Sara got wealthy by destroying Omar's life & Omar's family in the process.

Steve- Just a reminder to only comment on the episode being recapped. I believe your first comment was a spoiler for the next episode.

Thank you, Countx, Tofie, Julie, Niecie, Anon207 and JudyB for taking the time to read the recap and join the discussion. I enjoyed reading all your comments, especially your different personal takes on Ámbar and your pre-4 years childhood first memories (Why am I not surprised you can remember your crib, Vivi of the superhuman supermemory?)

Catch you all on the next episode threads!

Dear Steve, please kindly be reminded that the events of the next episode cannot be mentioned in the previous episode's discussion threads because this qualifies as spoiler.

Here is your comment reposted without the spoiler.

"Thank you very much for the recap Nandicta.

Julie: You're not convinced that Julia is Selma's daughter ? I mean they both have reddish hair & Julia keeps playing that song over & over again.

Carvivile: I'm not going to rest until Sara gets her major anvil when all is revealed as the "Chickens are coming home to roost" for Sara, Abel & Lucio, etc.,
"
Tofie: Maybe Ambar should move OUT of Mexico ASAP!"
