Yago #41. Monday July 25, 2016. Oh, For Pumpkin’s Sake!

Hello Patio Pals! I'm experiencing connectivity problems at home. I have 5 hours at an internet café to watch three episodes and summarize two; so this is going to be short and sweet.

Flashback. Camilo says he is a professional card player who confronted the very best players out there. However, his most difficult and protracted round was with a small child. Little Julia, played by the most adorable munchkin in all of Munchkinland is shown refusing to eat and refusing to let go of her past life. She keeps asking about the family whose memory Camilo wants to erase. Then, one day, little Julia hugs him and, when he tucks her into bed, she says: “Good night, Papá!” Camilo’s heart facsimile audibly melts. Present time. Camilo finds the absence of his daughter so painful, it physically hurts him. The little girl became the only light in his world of shadows. And now, that light is getting dimmer and Camilo can’t do anything about it.

Bar Candy gets renamed Ámbar. Yago got Alejandra killed too, where’s her bar?

Matías reproaches his mom for wearing bright colors and for not crying over her sister’s death. Matías says he wants to go see his grandparents, Melina and Jonás. Sara insists these are not Mati’s grandparents and refuses to take her son to Casa Guerrero.

One of Camilo’s business partners, a certain Becker, expresses his concern about the delay in their new casino business. Camilo assures him that the bar holding up the project is but a little stone that can easily be removed out of the way. Becker is skeptical.

Selma is worried about Julia and fears she might not return. Fidel reckons that may be for the best. Julia will always consider herself Camilo’s daughter and the Yampolskis can’t erase the last 20 years just like that. Selma insists Julia is her daughter and Fidel had better find the young woman before Camilo does.

Julia, sporting shorter and darker locks, shows up at Bar Ámbar. She tells Yago, Katia and Teo that she was hiding in the beach town of Bacalar, Quintana Roo, but it wasn’t easy to be poor there so she decided to return to Mexico City. She doesn’t want to talk about Selma and Fidel. Also, she is still very confused about Camilo. How could such a loving father be a murderer?

It’s been nearly a month since Ámbar’s funeral. That’s what we learn when Matías sneakily calls the Guerreros. Sara hangs up the phone and scolds him for being disobedient. Matías is tired of being told that what’s happening with the Guerrero family is a matter between adults. The only adults in his life, as far as he is concerned, are the Guerreros and his late aunt. “Ámbar was so much better than you!” he yells at his mom before storming out in a huff.

Melina and Jonás have started a legal procedure to get custody of Mati. However, the lawyer told them their chances are slim, especially now that Lucio is out of the jail and back with his wife.

Yago hires Julia as barmaid in Bar Ámbar. He reports this to the Yampolskis. Fidel is concerned about Julia’s loyalty. He feels Camilo can easily manipulate her. Yago suggests their priority now is to break up the alliance between Camilo and the Sarquis couple (Sara + Lucio).

Yago shows up at Casino Paraíso. He speaks alone with Tomás and tells him he is ready to offer Camilo the bar in exchange for Lucio and Sara getting the sack. Tomás thinks Yago is implementing another one of Fidel’s ploys. Yago insists Fidel isn’t his boss. Yago bumps into Lucio on his way out. Lucio threatens to destroy him. Yago says he took everything away from Lucio once and he is ready to do it again.

Back home, Lucio tells Sara what happened with Yago. They lock horns over her feelings for Yago, which Sara assures are just hate, and over the Sarquis' chances of being a family (read couple) again, which she assures are nil.

Katia looks jealous when she sees Teo and Julia getting chummy. She invites Teo to come to her house tonight. He says he has other plans.

Selma visits Bar Ámbar. She asks Julia to allow her to be part of her life. Julia tells her she doesn’t want anything to do with her or Fidel. She doesn't need parents. In fact, the word parentsdoesn’t mean a thing to her anymore. “Go away, Selma. I don’t need a mother!” After Selma leaves, Julia asks Teo to tell her more about Selma and Fidel.

Camilo instructs Tomás to organize a dinner with Yago. Sara visits Casa Michell.

At Casa Sarquis, Mati pretends to be playing a game on his computer but he is actually chatting with the Guerrero family.

Back at Bar Ámbar, Katia throws a jealous fit. Teo doesn’t understand why Katia keeps him at arm’s length yet she can’t stand to see him talk to another woman. He says he is sick of trying to find out what the heck is going on with her. Katia blurts out that she is in love with him and then acts mortified. She says she is toxic and she ruins everything she touches. Teo tells her he has feelings for her too and he wants to give their relationship a shot. Katia runs out of the room.

Camilo has a tête-à-tête dinner with Sara and sends Lucio to meet up with Yago to discuss the bar proposal. Camilo flirts with Sara when he learns that she is irremediably separated from Lucio. He promises to take care of her better than Lucio does. He makes her listen to a voice recording of Fidel giving instructions to Yago about the itinerary for Ámbar’s hospital transfer. Taken out of context, it sounds as if Yago and Fidel planned to have Ámbar killed. Sara is horrified. Camilo promises to help her make Yago and Fidel pay for Ámbar’s death. Oh, For Pumpkin’s Sake! Not another character embarking on their own personal path of revenge!

Thank you for the pleasure of your company. Please join us again for the next capítulo. We’ll be saving you a seat!

Hey amig@s! Hopefully, I can get my internet fixed tomorrow. Cheers.

Gracias, Nandicta. Depending on the internet for this is a bitch.

It Matias survives this story he will be going to a shrink for years. It also looks as though the law will never get involved to get justice done here. We will end up with outlaw resolution.

Sorry about your internet issues, you did a fantastic job even with the short amount of time to do everything you needed to do.

I can't imagine that Yago is really going to trade the bar for Lucio and Sara's firing. Why would he accept Julia to work there if that's his real plan?

On what grounds would Melina and Jonas have to gain custody of Matias? Sara is his mother, is not a proven criminal, there is nothing that i can think of that the court would hand over custody to them.

"Little Julia, played by the most adorable munchkin in all of Munchkinland is shown refusing to eat and refusing to let go of her past life."

Exactly my thoughts watching this!...What a little munchkin. Perfect casting. Always worry about these little actor's mental health though...that kidnapping scene, for instance, had to feel awful, even if they reassured the little girl that it was just make-believe.But adorable?...yes, out the wazoo adorable.

And speaking of make-believe..."heart facsimile" was a hoot. I guess Camilo does have a heart, and one little corner of it is harbors love for Julia, Selma and the plants in his greenhouse.... and the rest is riddled with bitter and pitless sadism for the rest of the world and its hapless creatures.

Nandicta...you're amazingly dedicated. I've known recappers who missed recaps because they had a headache. You're a treasure.

Nandicta thanks for going the extra mile to deliver a recap to us!

Sara should be smarter than what Camilo was dishing out but she is looking for any reason to hate Yago.

Cathyx, I agree. After naming the bar Ambar and hiring Julia, how can Yago sell?

Katia was right to be mad with Teo. When has he ever been nice and chatty with anyone? He barely spoke to Katia for ages and now he's talking Julia's ear off.

I need something positive to happen because each episode is a Debbie downer.

Nandicta- Look up the word dedication, and you'll find your picture next to it. Ditto for the word talented. Thank you.

Little Julia is just so adorable. It's no wonder she melted Camilo's itty bitty cold heart.

Glad they gave us a breather episode some weeks after Ambar's murder. I wonder if Camilo seduces Sara (but really, who is seducing whom?), will he eliminate Lucio?

I found Katia blurting out that she's in love with Teo was quite charming. He could not take the smile off his face.

Cathyx- Jonas said that the lawyer says they basically have no chance of getting Matias with Lucio out of jail and he and Sara together.

Thanks, Nandicta. What a trooper you are to fit in recapping for us when your internet connection is acting up. You nailed it with Little Julia, played by the most adorable munchkin in all of Munchkinland. That little girl is a show-stopping sweetie. And you were on fire with Yago got Alejandra killed too, where’s her bar?

If Sara goes to prison for robbery and perjury, I can see Mati winding up with his abuelos.

Will Sara believe Yago would have Ambar killed? I'm thinking Sara is too smart to buy what Camilo is selling.

Yay, romance has Katia and Teo all aflutter. Too cute.

Thank you Nandicta!

Niecie: The Coup D'état against Yago & the Avengers has begun!

Vivi: We're looking at World War III with very few survivors! I'm hoping Yago & the Avengers have backup because Daddy Michell & his cronies are going to launch the most violent retaliation ever!

Carvivile: Expect more chaos from here until the Gran Final!

Judy B: Daddy Michell will find Julia!

Cathyx: I do NOT expect the Guerrero's to get custody of Matias because Sara & Lucio would probably have Jonas, Melina & Bruno whacked!

I'm still betting on one of the Guerrero's will suffer the same fate Ambar & Alejandra did.

Gracias Nandicta!

Young Camilo is too cute. He was also in El Hotel and he played his role with charm. He needs to be in more shows! Young Julia is also charming.

Jade Fraser looks gorgeous with her new look! I am kind of seeing Yago falling for Julia but just to ease his sexual frustrations. I don't buy Julia's story entirely because the last time we saw her she was adamant to stay away from anything related with mobsters. Did she got to bar on purpose to mess things up?

Yago is such a blithering idiot. Why would Camilo throw Lucio&Sara for a simple property? Besides Camilo could destroy the bar in many other ways. Yago doesn't know a thing about how mobsters operate.

I loved seeing Matias finding a way to communicate with the Guerreros despite it being only through a computer.

Would never occur to me the woman over there on her third latte, watching and typing, was doing her self assigned, double dose homework cause the dog ate it last night. Thanks Nandicta

Katia and Teo, awww, ain't they cute, two turds in a punch bowl found each other

Don't give Julia a job at the bar idiot, give her a wad of cash and buy her a bus ticket

Tofie: IF Julia makes it out alive by the end of this TN.

I really don't think that the bar in exchange for Lucio being fired is necessarily Yago's plan. Just like he never intended to do an auction between Camilo and Fidel for the bar the first time. He wouldn't be setting the bar up if it was his intention to get rid of it. Plus, he wouldn't be telling his real plan to Camilo's underlings. There's another plan. We're just not privy to it yet.

Vivi: Now we're all anticipating the Guerrero's being targeted for assassination by Daddy Michell & his cronies (Lucio, Sara, Tomas, etc.,)

I'm getting my Body Count ready!

Yeah I don't think selling the bar is his real plan but after the other scam, Camillo and all of his henchman will be extremely skeptical of any plans Yago puts forth. That means his new plan has to be more complex than the last, which means more errors can occur.

Agree tofie, Yago should have given her a bunch of money and told her to lie low for a good year. Having her work at the bar only puts her in the middle of a war.

Steve, the joy you take in the possibility of more murders is a bit disturbing! lol

Carvivile: Knowing Daddy Michell, he's not going down that easy.

The good guys better have some backbone & fight back.

On Selma: I hope she makes it alive at the end.

Thank you, Nandicta. That's impressive work under pressure.

I don't like Julia's new look, but it's interesting because doesn't the heroine of every telenovela get a new hairdo after she's reached a turning point? (Except in Hotel, no haircuts for Isabel!) Maybe Julia's haircut is a clue to her eventual fate.

I agree with others that Yago can't seriously expect Camilo to take the bar deal and fire the Sarquis, so what is his real intention? To look silly? To oversell his claim that he's only after the Sarquis and isn't interested in Fidel's war with Camilo? To invite an attack on the bar and its employees and clientele? I hope there's some method to this madness.

Julie: We're going to find out if Yago's just using this selling the bar as a ploy.

I also enjoy the fact that the male villians of this story are not wife beating, mysogonistic, rapist punks that we ussually receive in other shows. They can show their emotions with just body language. Flavio Medina(Lucio) , Patricio Castillo(Fidel) and Mario Zaragoza( Camilo) are flawless in this story.

Countx I agree. When something physical does occur, like when Lucio slapped Sara, we as an audience felt the impact so much more.

Looking forward to the recap from last night.

Nandicta: Is the recap from Tuesday night up yet ?

Thank you all for your lovely comments! You're too kind! Many thanks also for all the insightful observations and character analysis that you contribute, it makes this already enjoyable show much more enjoyable. Sorry I haven't had a chance to join in the conversation.

The recap for Tuesday is now up. Sorry for the tardiness. Good night :)
