Sueño de Amor (SdA) #103. Tuesday August 9, 2016. Lies That Build You Up And Truths That Tear You Down

With this red string I thee project to wed. Red for love. Red for heart. Red for ready to commit to you. Red for rededicating my life to you. Red for red-herring.

Hello Patio Pals! I’m away on holiday until August 22. Mini-recaps for Monday and Tuesday are scheduled to post the next day at 6 am EDT. Be well and see you soon, Sueñolandia dwellers!

Ernesto tells Anastasia they need to talk about alimony and child support (pensión alimenticia). She says she doesn't want it or the apartment. Ernesto reminds her that Baby Luca is his son and a De la Colina. Ernesto wants his baby to have the best in life, live comfortably, go to the best schools and never want for anything.

Félix confides to Esperanza his problems at home with mom and wife competing for his attention. He also confesses his secret desire to have children.

The soon-to-be-blended Vélez/Alegría family + Pamela Rey go the amusement park. Today is the day for the proposal and it’s another public, protracted, over-the-top, Osorio-style marriage proposal with clues and tests, where the novia has to work hard for that ring. Cristina Vélez Valderrama (CVV) has to follow a red piece of string that takes her to a stand where she has to throw rings at bottles in order to win the giant teddy bear that carries her engagement ring. As they ride the carousel roundabout, Ricardo puts the ring on CVV’s finger using another red piece of string. He tells her that relationships are like amusement parks with ups, downs, laughs, tears and adrenaline rushes. At the end of the ride, once we overcome the fear, we want to try the ride over and over again. Ricardo says he wants to overcome the fear of all the roller-coasters of life with CVV. He asks her to marry him and she says yes to a chorus of cheers. After returning home, they decide to have a church wedding, since their previous marriages to their loony ex-spouses were civil unions. The happy couple manages to find a free church and a free padre to marry them in two weeks. Two weeks? Don’t they need at least a month to correr las amonestaciones/to publish the banns? A catholic priest can't perform a wedding any earlier than this in a telenovela (and most likely in the real world too). You are a novela character and you want a catholic church wedding cuanto antes/ASAP? “Dentro de un mes” is always your answer. The earliest humanly possible date is  always within a month!

Ernesto confesses the truth to Esperanza and Pato. They tear into him for his recklessness and selfishness. Reproaches and disdain rain upon him. He cries, expresses regret, begs for forgiveness, swears his kids and Esperanza are the most important thing in his life. Pato is so mad she starts calling her dad Ernesto again. She calls him a liar and a fraud and she storms out. He must be thinking: Flippin' Anastasia and her flippin' ideas!

Salma goes into preterm labor (parto adelantado) and is in serious risk of losing the baby.

Esperanza lets Ernesto have it for endangering their daughter: That lunatic Kracy held a gun loaded with real bullets to my daughter’s head, just so you can look good! She is too weak to stand but won’t allow Ernesto to help her. Ernesto insists he won’t leave her side. He’ll take her to her bed and, if she can’t stand to look at him, then he’ll remain in the living room. He gently carries her in his arms to her bedroom. They are both crying. Esperanza can’t understand why he decided to tell the truth now. Many reasons made him do it: His new baby and his desire to stop lying, now that he is happy with his children and about to marry the woman he loves. Esperanza wonders how come he teamed up with a crazy person like Kracy. Ernesto admits that, back then, he wanted to pester Ricardo at any cost. Ernesto apologizes profusely for what he did. He made many mistakes in the past and wishes he could fix them. He tells Esperanza he loves her and he will love her always. She and his kids are his reason for living. He takes his leave to let her rest. He says he’ll be waiting outside in case she needs something. I’m so mad at Osorio right now! Ernesto could’ve fessed up to all of this much earlier in the story, without any need for him to try to kill Kracy or get involved in her hare-brained assassination plots or murder Murillo.

Anya and Pedro have a 14-minute date at a hotdog cart near the hospital.

Esperanza has a nightmare where an angry Ricardo barges into her room and berates her for all her lies. He tells her she is the love of his life and she had no right to lie to him, cut him out of her life or decide for him. The decision to accompany her in her agony was his to make, not hers. How dare she choose for him? He will never ever forgive her! Esperanza pleads with Ricardo, calling his name over and over. Ernesto wakes her up. Her fever is back, she must be hallucinating. Esperanza confesses, between sobs, that even though she wakes up every day determined to be strong and to fight her illness, she just can’t take it anymore. She doesn’t have the strength to go on and she wants to throw the towel. Ernesto tearfully pleads with her to keep fighting and not give up, for her kids’s sake.

Thank you for the pleasure of your company. Please join us again for the next capítulo. We’ll be saving you a seat!

Thank you, Nandicta!

So Ernesto confesses and Espe is too weak to kick him out. I believe she chose the right moment to do it, since he already showed his commitment to their extended family and it's not like anyone will forbid him from seeing a very dying Esperanza.

Ricardo and Cristina are actually perfect for each other - perfect looks, perfect kids, perfect little blended family - red herring, indeed, I wonder what will happen to crush their little joy ride.

Felix is annoying me - didn't he know when he got married that he was committing to a 70 something year-old woman? Even if they were to adopt, who would give Margarita a child and how will she wake up for all those midnight feeds or diaper changes when she's almost in need of diapers, too?

Salma is in preterm labor? Have we even seen an actual belly? She can't be more than 5 months along, right? Poor baby, she didn't stand a chance.

Thanks for an excellent recap of a tedious episode, Nandicta. Most of it was too dire and dreary.

One okay part, I have to confess, was the amusement park marriage proposal. Another was the 14 minute hotdog cart date.

Adriana, perfectly put: ". . . what will happen to crush their little joy ride." You just know that is coming. Too early for such joy to last.

Esperanza looked better after crying for a while: the tears washed off some of the eyeshadow raccoon look.

Like Ernesto had to wait until Esperanza was so weak and feeling so poorly to inform her and unburden himself of his authorship of his "La Sombra--I wanna look like a hero" escapade they all had to suffer through.

Thanks for the recap.
This one I missed completely because I was playing Ratchet & Clank and I totally forgot.

Seems like I didn't miss much, I will catch up today, because tomorrow is my turn.

See you amigowz!

Nandicta: Your recap is awesome :)

Jarifa: Ernesto confessed to Espi wasn't surprising.

Adriana: I'm hoping nothing horrible happens to the US Marine Corps veteran & Goldie Locks!

Nandicta, real and raw. You conveyed the emotions to a "t". Excellent recap.

I read the recap twice. It sounds very, very grim. And despite how weak and frail Esperanza is physically what really scared me was "After returning home, they decide to have a church wedding, since their previous marriages to their loony ex-spouses were civil unions". In TN land, even a fatal diagnosis does not seem as permanent as marriage in the Catholic Church, which is meant to signify forever. Couples easily divorce after civil ceremonies but seldom after church ones (again in TN looney land).

I think Ernesto had to tell the truth. As terrible as the timing was, it needed to occur. And of course everyone is bereft but there might still be time for forgiveness. There is no family in this that is not fractured.

I'm sorry but I'm glad I missed the little engagement adventure. Could their smiles be any cheesier in the photo (good one Nandicta) :) I agree with both of you Adriana and Jarifa that I'm not sure their happiness is ensured. It's just the beginning of a roller coaster ride...

I am afraid for Esperanza. I don't want her to die. I cannot say the same for Osorio who has butchered this into something distasteful. I'm even more upset that I am totally hooked and want to see what happens to Espe.

Looking forward to your recap tomorrow Pablo.

Great comments Adriana and Jarifa...

Thank you Nandicta!

Diana

I've been on vacation for a few weeks and ignoring the nightmares happening in Sueñolandia, but I'm back just in time to say that I HATE Osorio-style kre8tive kiddie karnival marriage proposals. If I were inclined to marry a guy before, I don't think I would be after such an elaborately doofy production.

Nandicta, how on earth did you manage to do all these recaps before your vacation? And they're so good! I love your pictures and captions.

I do not love how terribly Esperanza is being treated. Can't she at least have one solid supportive good longtime friend without an agenda or a shady past?

How can Ricardo afford fancy psycho treatment for Kracy as well as everything else now that he has only teacher pay? Wasn't he pretty broke when he and Espe were planning their wedding way back several weeks ago?

Nandicta, your recaping is quality stuff. This episode was kinda on the sad side. Im with you, why did orsorio do this to
The viewers, to ernesto, to ricardo & christiV & and then all these children of these couples? Now its gonna just mess up everything that was workin. Why didn't he have erny confess back then, like you said? I hope this woman don't give up, Cuz she has been through so much. And the bad choice she made to give up the love of her life was one of the worst and the other one was........I don't, having the confussion of ernesto capturing her heart and ours in the midst of horrible treacherous cirrcumtances.... what the hell orsorio, what the hell? I was watching him when he was sitting on the bed next to her and she said something about ricardo? I think, does anybody know? The camara was on his face &
Im thinkin that hes thinkin hes gonna loose her because of all the lying and other stuff. Who knows with this show. Ok
Its on gonna go.

Thanks Nandicta! :-)

For me some things are going (and some went) way past of the point of no return and undo them will make just a bigger mess. I just want to see how are they going to resolve all this entanglements. CVV and Ricardo are about to get married, Esperanza is about to die, Ernesto just confessed, how do you revert the consequences all this will bring on everyone?

Have all the characters die in a massive explosion at the school when the unsupervised students are cooking meth in the science lab, then have another mad scientist regenerate them from their DNA but with totally different personalities and no memories of their former lives and no cancer, and they have to try to adjust to their sudden existence, and Esperanza and Ricardo fall in love and live happily ever after and CVV goes to chef school and Erasmo is a successful architect who never falls in love with problematic women and earns a good salary?

Ok when did that third little girl come to be a part of the family? Are they adoptin her? I know she goes to the same school, did her parents abanden her? Whats the deal with her? Anybody know? I probablyy missed that episode. She seems to fit right on tho. But how did she get there?

The third little girl is Pámela. She is the daughter of a criminal type Isaac Reyes who has been a pain along with his juvenile delinquent of a son at Instituto Palacios. Nobody wants to discipline the son because Isaac is a major donor at the school and he could easily withdraw his contributions. Pâmela started out in the show as a brat. She has become less bratty as she has hung around more and more with Ricardo's kids. Isaac does not pay a lot of attention to Påmela so she has loved Ricardo paying attention to her and including her as one of his own.
