Un Camino Hacia el Destino-Week 24 (Aug 1, 2016) 1st Half

First things first—Vivi, thank you for sharing the news of the passing away of MARIANA KARR. Besides being a great interpreter of many telenovela roles, I wasn’t aware she’d made so many films. Who could forget her in just about everyone’s favorites—Alborada and Pasión. A more recent role she had was in Amorcito Corazón as the villain, Jorge Luis’ mother, Beba.

I wonder what will happen to her restaurant, CarayCaray, or if it is even still in existence. Here is our recapper extraordinaire, Cheryl’s description of her visit. http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2008/02/mariana-karrs-restaurant-caray-caray-in.html

Un Camino—It’s limping along with Lucero. We are united in sticking it out until the bitter end for our bad, very bad, terribly bad Luis and Mariana and rejoice in the reunion of Carlos and Fernanda. What of the rest? We will have to take a wait and see attitude, since the commenters are beginning to voice different opinions.

One thing we can all agree on, is the quality of the story and the presentation—due in great part to the casting, writing, filming, acting and direction. We hope it stays on the road until the last episode.

Anita..thanks so much for posting CHeryl's description of her trip to Marianas restaurant. It brought back a lot of good memories when I saw all those familiar names among the commenters!

I gave up on Camino and my sweet baboo. Is it a good show?.

Episode #105 Monday August 1, 2016 Part 1

Some scenes combined for convenience. This was an exciting episode! Susanlynn, I vote yes, it is a good show.

- We begin with a repeat of Friday's scenes with Hernan and Mariana having their worst marital quarrel yet, and with Lucero on the run with that awful Diego chasing her.

- Hernan and Mariana continue to dig at each other. She tries to take some of her mean words back, but he's not having it and he's sad about the years he's lost being with her.

- Camila is on the streets, looking weak and pale and pretty scary (props to makeup department), and her begging is doing no good, as no one will give her food or money.

- Marissa and Carlos review their decision to sell the bank and discuss all that Luis has put them through. Carlos is determined to get justice. Marissa tells Carlos he doesn't need to, but in his head, he most certainly does.

- Blanca overheard Hernan and Mariana quarrel and Mariana challenges her. Blanca tells her to change before it's too late. Mariana decides that she is going to go find Camila and that will help her get Hernan back.

- Going on some hill overlooking the highway, Mariana searches for Camila. Suddenly, Lucero comes up, and by comes up, I means, lurches at her frantically yelling for help. Mariana is completely confused as Lucero continues to beg for help. Diego finds them, and Lucero hides behind Mariana, who intuits that something is clearly amiss here. She tells Diego not to touch Lucero and asks him who he is.

- Pedro is dressed up in his best tee-shirt. Fer tells him he looks guapo and wishes him luck. As he leaves, Carlos comes into the house with Paco. She doesn't want Carlos to be sad, and when he asks for a beso, she asks him for a sonrisa. Only one of them gets their request (Carlos). Carlos says he will smile when Luis gets his. He goes to meet with Iggy.

- At his meeting with Iggy, it turns out that the audit Carlos had ordered of the bank has turned up no proof of Luis' shenanigans. Carlos is mad all over again. Iggy tries to tell him to relax, but Carlos is having none of it.

Episode #105 Monday August 1, 2016 Part 2

- At the construction office, Hernan spots silly Pedro in his best tee shirt with a sign and a dozen roses. Then we see Amelia leading a business meeting and telling some men about a nice new development. Pedro comes up in the lift with his sign (asking Amelia out to eat) and the roses and Amelia just ditches the meeting and gets in the lift and awkward kissing ensues and thankfully the lift lowers them away.

- The slimekicks' Toastmasters meeting has come to order, and Luis leads the first toast to the latest evildoings. Luis does take a second to worry about how Leo said he would be waiting. Luis then moves on to the next order of villainy, how he will make Fer love him. Isy is not into that, understandably, and starts with her insults to Fer. Luis gets MAD and they actually really get into it to the point Ishmael has to break it up. Isabel struts out. Well, this set Luis off, and he tells Ismael that his biggest problem is that Carlos and Pedro have all of Fer's love. So... LET'S ELIMINATE THEM. To which Ismael gleefully exclaims, "Let's start with Carlos!" I admit, I laughed at the actors here. They were so gleeful! Anyway, it's a plan.

- Fernanda tells her parents that she has decided to resume music studies. where is not certain, but she will resume them. Everyone is happy about this (even Carlos). Iggy calls Carlos to tell them that he got a call from a "bank executive" who has some evidence against Luis to turn over. Iggy offers to go, but Carlos says he will go. Gee golly, who could this "bank executive" be?
Fer and Carlos get into it about this. Carlos points out that he understands how important music studies are to Fernanda, so why can't she understand how important getting justice (not vengeance) is to him? He just wants her support. She says that if something happened to him, it would kill her. He asks her to understand how deeply all the misdeeds of Luis to him and his family have affected him.

- Diego sticks Lucero back in her tiny house prison. She begs him not to kill her. He's not going to kill her and he gives her a creepy kiss.

- After Carlos leaves, Fer pouts to her parents that she "doesn't understand," and she knows it's a problem, and the likes of Pedro and Amelia, who didn't understand each other for 20 years or so, actually are helpful here and point out that she should try to understand Carlos' point of view.

- Isabella tries to visit Marissa and offer an Isabella-version of an apology. In other words, she doesn't really apologize and tries to turn it around on Marissa and Carlos. She tells Marissa she loves her as a mother and friend and hugs her. Marissa is like, get out of here! Good for Marissa.

Episode #105 Monday August 1, 2016 Part 3

- Sure enough, our "bank executive" is Ishmael waiting - with a gun in hand - in the bad guy's lair, and he and Luis chuckle over the phone about how of course their little call to Iggy would lure Carlos right over. We see some tense shots of Carlos in the elevator, and then we see his head poke in the door as Ishmael chuckles away with Luis. Carlos hears enough to know it's a trap and instead of getting out of there, he goes right in and lunges at Ishmael. A struggle for the gun commences, and in his car, Luis hears it go off!

- Lupe visits Marissa, and, in her Loopy way, she accidentally reveals about the call that Carlos and Iggy got. Marissa knows her son is in danger and gets the vapors. Fer comes up at this point and goes to get help and meds.

- Back in the lair, Carlos knocks out Ishmael and kicks the gun away (no one was shot). Carlos sees the box with incriminating documents and after taking way too long in my opinion to go through it, runs out of the room with it.

- Fer gives the meds to Marissa and Lupe, Marissa and Fer all worry while trying to be strong. Carlos of course is not answering his phone.

- Mariana goes home and Blanca asks how it went. Mariana soberly replies it didn't. Blanca says a prayer for Mariana.

- Carlos goes to his car, box in hand. Heading to the scene in his car, Luis spots Carlos getting into his vehicle, and speeds up while honking wildly, so Carlos hops in quickly and OFF WE GO. The chase is on!!! Luis drives like a DC area driver on the beltway. Carlos drives like me trying to avoid a bad beltway driver. Go Carlos!

dy, another excellent recap.

"Luis then moves on to the next order of villainy" and "Marissa knows her son is in danger and gets the vapors" were among my favorites.

My heart dropped when I saw it was Mariana that Lucero (literally) ran into. But, a tiny bit of hope when it appeared Mariana was taking Diego to task and effectively saying "not so fast". That evaporated quickly and the sight of the devastated Lucero being forcibly dragged away was heartbreaking. I have to admit it disconcerted me to the point I really wasn't able to concentrate thereafter.

Camila with her pale face and dark eyes was equally as disturbing.

The Pedro/Amelia smooches in the lift were indeed awkward but most welcome...

Carlos is fed up and had enough - he has my empathy and sympathy. I was relieved no one got shot but I suspect Fernanda will have a few words to "shoot" at her bio father, and none of them very loving.

I wish Blanca would channel her prayers toward the missing - Lucero and Camila. I wonder if the detective is still trying to track Lucero down? I guess Lucero never crossed Mariana's path - too bad.

Thank you dy!

Diana

God bless Mariana Karr. I loved her in Pasion.

Pablo posted on the Sueno blog that he liked her voice - I did as well.

Susanlynn, this is an excellent TN. Wish you were watching this with us. Hope you can stop by occasionally...

Diana

Hey, dy, great yet again!

"...silly Pedro in his best T-shirt..." Yeah, if the guy is now able to build a large house for his beloved Amelia, why can't he afford a nice outfit to woo his intended? But, that's our Pedro; crude but lovable to the end.

Ishmael hasn't been to the gym lately. He prepares to do battle with Carlos by swilling booze. I hope he lost a tooth or two in the altercation. I would love to have his evil smile punctuated with a few gaping openings in his dental presentation.

Near miss with Lucero. I couldn't understand why Marissa let Diego get away with hauling Lucero off. I think that her safety will be the least of our worries; she will make mincemeat out of Diego at some point.

I found the car chase laughable. Carlos in his powerful sports car should have been easily able to leave Luis in the dust.

I don't know where they're going with this Camila story. Like the Prodigal Son, maybe she should just swallow her pride and check in back at home.

Thanks again, dy. Very nicely done.

David

Diana...I will try to watch . I miss talking" to you. Hope that you are well. Judyb and I are watching "Tres Anas". Angie Boyer is playing three rokes, and RUlli is the love interest of two of them.

Thanks everyone. Ha ha David, I meant it when I said Carlos resembled me on the Beltway, just trying to move along and evade the bad drivers. At one point he got in the right lane as if to let bad driver Luis pass on the left, lol!

The Lucero/Diego stuff is indeed very disturbing. Diana and Steve, I think we are all hoping someone will save Lucero from this guy. That said, I wasn't too thrown by Mariana not helping. Disappointed, of course, but Mariana doesn't know them, she was focused on her plots and Camila and Hernan (I guess Camila never brought Lucero home), and Diego sold his story of Lucero having a mental illness to her pretty convincingly.

All the other villainy is actually pretty cartoony. When the trio of villains meet up in the lair, they remind me of Catwoman Isy meeting with Penguin Luis and Joker Ishmael. And Mariana was like Wile E. Coyote for awhile with her death plots for Fer that didn't work out.

Diana, Carlos has my empathy too. I'm a bit annoyed with Fer for not making more of an effort to support him with this "justice" quest.

so very good dy!

"Carlos is mad all over again"

"Marissa knows her son is in danger and gets the vapors"

Let me unashamedly state again that I love this show. Even the stupid parts have me on the edge of my seat and grinning like a dope.

So unlike Fernanda not to swoop in and save the day. Are they watering her down to make Carlos not look like a spoiled rich naive boy. Well at least mad Carlos isn't weeping non stop.

Whomever decided to cram the Isabela and Marissa chat in sideways deserves a demerit.

The fight scene between Carlos and Ishmael wasn't well choreographed. When I was little my older brother and one of his friends would do their best slowmo Bruce Lee moves on each other and at the same time telling each other what they were gonna do and how the other should react plus added sound effects. My sides.

I was screaming at Lucero to deny Diego was her brother but not a peep. Why did she run for it if she wasn't gonna run for it?

Back home now and anxious to get back into the deep, emotional, meaningful-filled episodes I've missed (read that with a shake of sarcasm). It'll take me a day or two to get back up to speed.

The recaps have been wonderful. I can't wait to match the words to the pictures!

The biggest disappointment for me is that Lucero was found, then lost again. No one knows where the shack is. Maybe HoLivia will get away and based on her experience, the police will get Diego to tell them where he has Lucero locked away.

Too bad for me I am not in the Pedro-Amelia reconciliation corner. For Fer, it probably is important, so if her wish is granted, I'll go along with it. She wants all the members of her "immediate" family, happy and harmonious.

Diana and others have expressed the overarching theme as one of forgiveness, but if Fer never has anything to do with Luis again, I would be very ok with this. Knowing her big heart, though, and he goes to jail, she will visit him and take him cake and cookies; if he dies, she will take flowers to his grave and pray to have his soul rest in peace.

Dy--I'm more than familiar with our Beltway. It's a few streets away from where I live. If you want to get into a little more detail, send me an e-mail (it's on my profile).

Thank you so much, dy!

I'm hoping Mariana will call the police. She was thinking about Lucero shortly before the episode ended. She's suspicious, but if she acts on it, it will probably be only the second time that she's ever done anything for anyone else. The first time was when she looked for Camila, not because she cared about Camila, but because she wanted to help Hernan. With Lucero, she wouldn't have anything to gain, so it would be a completely altruistic act.

Also, everybody, I'll be posting the recap late tomorrow, so don't wait until the recap is posted before commenting. My ballroom dance teacher is covering for another teacher who broke her foot, so I had to switch days for my lesson, which means I'll be getting home late tonight. Also, my laptop is making a crazy loud noise, so I'm not using it except to get files off. So I'll have to write a draft longhand and type it in at lunch or after work.

Aleta--we can wait, you are so generous with your time and your talent.

Dy, good quicky recap. I thought the mean one would help, but No! Was Lucy
Talking to fast for her to understand?
Didn't she get a clue with the limping
Scarry talking young woman? No!!! Here comes the demonego with his lies. Poor girl. Back to the shack Lucy.

Isabella is pathetic. When a man is telling you over & over "I don't want you", get a clue girl. Walk away.

Amelia & Pedro are so cute together.
They are happy. They went through hell of their own making and they overcame
Their trials. About time somebody does
In this show.

Good endings on the way. For some anyway. Thanks Dy.

Aleta, ballroom dancing, what fun!

Your recap will well be worth the wait...It was an exciting episode.

Of course, I didn't understand Mariana's musings so I wasn't sure what she was thinking. I also hope her conscience gets the better of her and that she takes off in search of Lucero. Probably wishful thinking but it seems almost all of the characters are seeking forgiveness in some form or fashion.

Yes Nina "Good endings on the way. For some anyway...".

Diana

Tofie, "why did lucero make a run for it, if she wasn't going to make a run for it"? Amen girl, Amen! Was she that scared that she couldn't or wouldn't
Speak up? That was just for effect.

Recap for Tuesday, 8/2/2016

Part 1:

Altamirano mansion: Mariana is thinking about her encounter with Lucero, “What if I made a mistake with that girl? What if that man wasn’t her brother?” Uncharacteristically, she muses about how other people might perceive her. “If I were Camila or that daughter of Amelia’s, I would run away from someone like me.” She replays the scene with Lucero and Diego in her mind, “Who is this man, who seems crazier than he says she is? Where do I know him from?”

Meanwhile at the loveless shack of shackles, Lucero sobs while Mariana decides that Lucero’s situation, whatever it is, doesn’t matter to her. “The only thing that matters is Hernán. Although he’s angry at me, he’s the only one that I’ve ever loved.”

Mariana rebukes herself, “Why are you having these good thoughts? The only thing that matters to you is your fortune and the return of your husband. I’m going to take a bath and sleep in peace. Tomorrow, I’ll look for Camila again.”

Country road: Carlos puts his sports car into overdrive and outpaces Luis. But then he pulls over to call Ordóñez. (Not the time to be thinking about cell phone safety, Carlos. Forget about the hands-free driving.) Ordóñez says, “I have the documents,” and he tells Carlos to return to the house immediately because his mother needs him.”

Carlos and Marissa’s mansion: Carlos pulls into the driveway, immediately followed by Luis. Arguing ensues. Luis asks Carlos why he rejected him. Carlos says, “You didn’t suit me. I had just lost my father. You came to take his place. You’ve destroyed everything important in my life. You tried to kill my mother. You sent the love of my life to jail. And you killed my nana. Why Luis, why?”

Luis replies, “I didn’t hate you then, but I hate you now. You have the only thing that I don’t have—the love of Fernanda.”

Fernanda runs up to get Carlos. He’s the only one who can help Marissa. She tells Luis, “Don’t touch Carlos.”

Luis tells Fernanda that he doesn’t like for her to see him act so aggressively. She fires back, “You have always been that way, Señor. The first time I met you, you ran me over with a car.”

Pedro and Amelia come up. Luis appeals to Fernanda. He needs the papers, he says, otherwise he’s going to jail.

Carlos runs to help Marissa and Fernanda follows him. Luis calls out, “Luisa, hija, I’m your father.” (Just like Darth Vader did in Stars Wars, “Luke, I am your father.”)

Carlos comforts his mother. Fernanda tells him that right now, his priority is his mother. Carlos tells Marissa, “I can give you all the medicine in the world, but you have to hang in there.”

Somewhere Luis is yelling on the phone. “I need a ticket for tonight for Taiwan. Price is no object. A ticket for tomorrow doesn’t do me any good.” The person on the other end of the line hangs up, and Luis talks to himself, “Think. Don’t panic.”

Solórzano arrives and Luis slugs him. “I warned you and you failed me. You’re a rabid dog, and what do you do with a rabid dog? They get a bullet to the head.”

Solórzano says, “I did it for loyalty. The least you can do is show respect.” Luis throws him out.

Luis calls another airline about tickets to Taiwan and can’t get them. He laments that there are only a few countries that don’t extradite people back to Mexico.

Courthouse: Ordóñez hands over the box of documents to the judge. He tells the judge that Luis is surely at the airport trying to flee the country.

Airport: Luis isn’t checking any luggage. He passes through the security checkpoint in jubilation, “I’m free. I’m free.” At the gate, he says, “If only my enemies could see me now. And they thought they would put me in jail.”

I can't wait to see everything...great recap dy. Except I take issue with the D.C. driver thing lol! I see 3 of us are close. I don't have to get on it as part of my commute, but I do get on it.

Not looking forward to that kiss ugh.

Fyi- Camilla did bring Lucero home so unless the writers forgot or Mariana (it was only once) she did visit when they first graduated.

I won't be able to catch up on this week until Friday but love that I can stay updated by the awesome recaps. Thank you

Part 2:

Isabela’s house: While little sister Carolina is visiting, the police arrive and search the place.

Next morning Marissa is doing better. Carols tells his mother that Fernanda is the best. She stayed all night because she was worried about Marissa, and he sweetly adds “You are always going to be my favorite.”

Airport: At the gate, Luis is fondling a necklace. He calls Fernanda, “I’ve bought you a present.” She tells him she doesn’t want a present and hangs up on him. As first class is boarding, Luis is arrested for fraud.

Next we see Luis behind bars and being fingerprinted while Carlos and Ordóñez congratulate each other. Luis is taken to a cell. “I don’t know how I’m going to live in such a frightful place.”

Meanwhile, Carlos shares the good news with Fernanda and asks if she’s happy. She looks disturbed, even sad. Carlos says, “I don’t know why you can’t be happy after all that this imbecile has done to us.”

Fernanda tells Carlos that she knows what it’s like to be imprisoned and she wouldn’t wish it on anyone … I’m not a person who can carry bad feelings all my life. It rots the soul. I learned that at my house.”

“Are you saying that you feel fondness (cariño) for him?”

She says that she feels sorry for Luis because no one loves him, and he has a daughter who doesn’t love him.

Back at the jail, Luis thinks, “How quick was my fall. A few months ago, I could have touched heaven with my hands, and now I’m here. The only think I can think about is Luisa Fernanda. My poor daughter. She suffered through this, and it was all my fault.” Then Luis daydreams about the happy life he could have had with Amelia.

Surprise! Leopoldo is in the next cell. He taunts Luis. “They say that death is near in this place.”

We get a brief scene of Amelia and Pedro dining al fresco. They decide not to think about Luis: “This is our moment.”

Back at the jail, Leopoldo tells Luis “Not your power, or your money, or your titles will do you any good. The rules are different here.” And with that, Leopoldo swings open the door to his cell. Now he’s in the same cell as Luis. “This place is perfect for a rat like you. You betrayed me. You were a bad friend.”

Luis offers a weak excuse, “You took Andrea from me.”

Soory Aleta!

Perfect Aleta. You have such a gift to speak volumes with few, carefully chosen words.

"loveless shack of shackles" and "Luisa, hija, I’m your father.” (Just like Darth Vader did in Stars Wars, “Luke, I am your father”)" were among many favorites.

What has become of our poor, dear Lucero?? Has the vile Diego hurt her further? I also wish Lucero had raged when he absconded with her again but I think at that point she was emotionally drained. Her hurt ankle did not help...

"While little sister Carolina is visiting". Hmm, someone mentioned her just the other day. Ask and you shall receive. I don’t think she was a terrible girl but with Izzy as a sister, little can be expected. Izzy egged her on and she caused a lot of grief for Fer early on. Not to mention Adelina who is now only heaven knows where.

"I’m not a person who can carry bad feelings all my life. It rots the soul". The wheels in Fer's mind are already turning. She already has feelings of sadness for someone who has no right to them. She is processing and reacting. She knows they are undeserving but in the end, do we really have power over what we feel in our heart? We can ignore or try to change, but a good heart is usually evident. If she wishes to forgive Luis, then I hope she will tell him. And frankly, I might suggest that sooner rather than later the way things are going for Luis.

Luis seems to be on the verge of tears at every turn. If only they were of true regret and repentance. Leo does not seem predisposed to forgive or forget what Luis has done.

I know I'm in the minority but I enjoyed Pedro and Marissa.

If only Mariana would have more than a momentary pang of guilt, there might be hope for Lucero. She must go out and search for Camila. If she were able to "save" both there might be hope for her redemption. Not from me, but I of course don't matter a whit.

Aleta, this was fantastic. Thank you.

Diana

Thanks Alets, again sorry for the interruption. I was typing to comment and hit post and boom! If I were on a computer and not my phone (well this phone which is still pretty new to me) I would have cut, deleted, and pasted in a new post but I can't.

Is Fer really having sympathy for Luis? WOW! I know I said that I hoped she would forgive him, but wow!

It was me Diana that asked where was she in my recap last week and then she appears out of nowhere. WTH?! I was wondering because Isa had all of these slimy men in her fortress of evil.

Love the Star Wars reference.

Aleta: Let's hope that the Good Guys find Lucero & QUICK!

#FREELUCERO

Steve, I'd even settle for Lucero being found by Mariana, who's one of the bad guys.

No problem, Kendra. There have been times when I was typing in a comment, and someone beat me to the punch and said essentially the same thing a minute earlier.

Aleta--Thank you for a cracking good recap. It moved swiftly and so did your words.
I think this says it all about Mariana, "I’m going to take a bath and sleep in peace. Tomorrow, I’ll look for Camila again.” Reminds me of Scarlett O'Hara, but at least she worked her fingers to the bone. I got a kick out of Mariana the other night flipping through the magazine saying she'd read it so often she'd just about memorized it. Now THAT's loneliness, when you can't entertain yourself.

We kind of knew Fer would have a change of heart toward Luis, but she's not on his side yet. She only feels sorry for him because she knows what being in jail is like. I guess we have to be prepared for some reconciliation if he doesn't end up dead.

Kendra, Dy--there are at least two other recappers who live in the DMV area, Vivi and Juanita. Maybe we should think about a CarayCaray reunion lunch some time in the fall.

Thank you so much Aleta.

“You have always been that way, Señor. The first time I met you, you ran me over with a car.”

What the heck has happened to Fernanda? Not the bouncy, laughing, sunny side up girl who'd punch your lights out when threatened anymore. She don't owe Luis nothing and why answer his calls or speak to him at all?

Aleta terrific recap, and in few words
I'm not surprised about fer having some kind of pity for Luis sr. That's how the girl rolls. Carlos will just love her more.
"I don't know how I'm going to live in such a frightful place". This place matches his personality. And he'll learn. What a nasty man he is. It Couldn't have happen to a nicer guy.

Somebody find lucero, please! I would
Not be surprised if CAMI found her while wondering around in her dizzy lostness.

I like seeing amelia and Pedro, they are so sweet together. They are the super couple of this show for now. I know they're not popular with some, but still they kinda give hope that theres light at the end of the very dark tunnel that's been front and center for the past month or so.

Mariana needs redemption. How she gonna get it? We'll have to wait and see.

Hernin is going for "father of the year". And her could win it too.
Thanks Aleta.

Un Camino August 3, Part One

Luis and Leo are trading barbs in the prison. They argue over Andrea. They wind up thinking that they both deserve to be in prison, but Leo tells Luis to sleep with one eye open,

Pedro and Amelia are walking on what I guess is his land. She says they need to recover the years when everything was so sad, but Pedro tells her no, that is their past - they need to work on the present and for the future. They tell each other how much in love they are.

Fer is tired and wants Paco to go to bed. He isn't tired and wants to stay up. She finally gets him to turn in.

Pedro is looking through a telescope at night. It's raining, so they really can't see anything. They are sitting in a shelter that looks like an old shipping crate. Pedro explains some stuff about constellations to Amelia, and she compliments him on his knowledge of Greek mythology. He's like, "Mythology????"

Fer's in bed worrying about Camila when Paco comes in and says he misses his dad. Fer takes him into her bed and comforts him. Meanwhile, Camila is in a field and tries to sleep on the ground using two single sheets of newspaper for bedding.

Mariana is in bed thinking how she will find Camila and then Hernan will be happy and will return to her.

Hernan is having guilt feelings about not being with Mariana, but says that he has to find Camila first, then he can work on his marriage. Then he calls Mariana his pillar.

Paco and Fer are in bed. Paco is worried about Marissa dying. Fer tries to comfort him and get him to sleep.

Pedro and Amelia are still in the shipping container. Pedro tells Amelia that Fer is his sun and that she is him moon. The get silly and start walking in the rain laughing.

The next morning Fer says breakfast smells great, but she's in a hurry. Pedro has written a note that says something like, "This is the day when all your dreams will come true." He gives her a pep talk, and she says she will go ahead with her head held high. She is heading for her audition at the music school and asks for his blessing.

David

Un Camino August 3 Part Two

Amelia and Blanca are having breakfast and Blanca explains that Hernan went out in the wee hours of the morning looking for his daughter.

Fer is on her way to her audition and runs into Hernan. They talk about searching for Camila the next day., but Hernan is worried because it's taking so long to find her.

Mariana is out searching for Camila, and asks person after person if they recognize the girl in the picture she has of her. She runs into a rough looking guy who tells her he just saw her. Mariana legs excited and runs in the direction he indicated only to be surrounded by the guy and his gang who relieve her of her valuables at knife point.

Amelia tells Blanca that finally Mariana is finally doing something useful with her life, but Blanca says she's doing it for the wrong reasons.

A radiant Fer walks up the stairs of the school for her audition and hopes she has better luck this time. (It wasn't bad luck last time, Fer. It was that lousy bastard Luis who did you in.) She runs into one of the directors who tells her that she doesn't have to audition because everything has been taken care of by her father. Fer is confused, then a light bulb goes off in her head. "Luis Montero?" Fer says she doesn't want to use his money. She wants to earn a scholarship on her own.

Carlos is taking care of Marissa who questions him about if he and Fer will wait till she graduates to get married. He says no. Marissa says Clarita is taking care of the kids, so why doesn't Carlos go to the audition? He says Fer will do fine, and he's not leaving Marissa. Marissa opines that it's a good thing to get married young.

Fer plays some tune for the scholarship board while dancing around the room. Letter she returns home where a nervous Pedro has some flowers for her. She puts on a frown and for an instant pretends that she failed, but then breaks into a smile and tells him she was accepted. Pedro is so excited that he hugs her and twirls her around.

Un Camino Aug 3 Part Three

Luis has decided that he's probably not going to like prison very much, so he decides to use his extremely high IQ and vast wealth to find a way to get out. "There's always a way. Always."

Pedro and Fer are basking in her success. She says she is going to work very hard. The both agree that she will go far.

Luis wanders past a group of men, one of whom, Apolinar, kindly takes time out of his busy schedule to instruct Luis how prison works.

Rosaura and Fer are sitting outside the shack. Rosaura tells Fer that the cops think Diego is a serial kidnapper. They can't believe this is going on, but agree to help the cops further the investigation in any way they can.

Lucero's mom is at the police station and learns that Diego has pulled this before and has many aliases. She meets the mothers of two of his other victims. Meanwhile Olivia asks Diego about things she's seen about him on the news. (Really, Diego? You let her have a television set?) He says it's all a big mistake. Well, why can't she go out, then? Because a wife's duty is to stay at home and do wifey stuff, not to be wandering the streets. Diego then leaves and locks the door from the outside. He stands in the hall and tells himself that all these rich girls are shams, and only play at love.

Fer visits the police station and shares who she can, but is told that the job of finding Diego is more difficult because they don't know exactly who they're looking for, and he moves around. Fer and the cops are going to remain in contact with each other.

Apolinar's lesson to Luis continues. Both Ishmael and Leo look on appreciatively as Luis is slugged in the face and has the necklace he bought for Fer stollen.

Diego rubs some ointment on Lucero's sprained ankle and instructs her how to live life. She has a thousand yard stare. He locks her up again in his heavenly hovel and leaves.

Olivia is preparing Diego's supper. She wonders why Diego hasn't returned.

Luis tries to enlist the help of first Ishmael, then Leo to get the necklace back. Both tell him he's lucky to be alive, then both laugh at him. Luis vows to get that necklace back.

At the shack, Fer sadly stares out the open air picture window. Pedro gets out of her that she is beginning to regret that Luis is in jail. She recites to Pedro all the havoc and mayhem Luis has caused to so many people, then turns to Pedro and says he's the worst man, so why do I feel bad?

"Because," Pedro says, "You're not like him."

I didn't know that Luis' sidekick(ot rather slimekick) was in jail too. How terrific. Fer finally getting into school and Mariana getting robbed...looks like folks are starting to get some of what they deserve!

I had a house full of very active grand kids yesterday, and so I did not have the chance to thank you, Aleta, for your very well done recap. You have such a talent for compressing things and yet never missing any nuance.

I tried to be more brief yesterday, which allowed me to finish earlier, and thus not make as many typos, although there were still some. Please feel free to correct what I have missed, and add to the narrative where I have not given the situation the proper weight it deserves.

Hi, Kendra. Yes, the anvils are starting to fall. This is the fun part, isn't it?

David

Another excellent outing David and really appreciated.

"Pedro is looking through a telescope at night. It's raining, so they really can't see anything" gawd, Pedro is dumb as a rock

As we suspected Diego has done this before elsewhere. One missing 4 years and the other 3 I fear dead, so sad. Very dark turn.

Ok, I get Fernanda cannot bring herself to gloat Luis is getting his but hope she doesn't go try to help the guy. At least she rejected the tuition. Please let her discover Luis smashed her dream 3 years ago, please.

I want bad Mariana back. Bad Mariana would at least given the street gang a little lip.

Hi, tofie. Yeah, our Pedro doesn't exactly inspire us with his intelligence, does he. His allure is in his homely wisdom and constant fidelity to those he loves.

I think you are right about Mariana. That street gang would have had more trouble with the old cagey Mariana.

They are making Diego darker and darker with each episode. First they merely hinted that there might be some problem between Lucero and him, then he committed bigamy by marrying Olivia, and now we find out that he has been doing this for years, and many more women are involved. Yuck.

Like you I hope Fer can strike a healthy balance between her natural tendency to think good things about even bad people, and a necessary reluctance to be close to Luis.

Thank you so much for your comments.

David, terrific recap. I enjoy your light but clever tone.

"Luis has decided that he's probably not going to like prison very much, so he decides to use his extremely high IQ and vast wealth to find a way to get out" was great and "Luis wanders past a group of men, one of whom, Apolinar, kindly takes time out of his busy schedule to instruct Luis how prison works" jwas my favorite line among many.

"Luis vows to get that necklace back". Yes. As you are surrounded by those who hate you (which appears to be just about everyone), being threatened, hit, with heaven only knows what's in store for you, jewelry is obviously the most important thing on your mind.

I was surprised Leo did not retaliate against Luis quickly. And forcefully. Perhaps he is going to toy with him first. And while I loathe Luis' arrogance, I have to hand it to him, he showed it during the confrontation with the other inmate. I thought he would be quick to fold and cry, but I was wrong...

Does Diego have an inheritance we are unaware of? His temporary abodes have been small but not exactly hovels. I'm unsure of the count, but how many women is he hiding away? I use the present term as I refuse to believe anything other than his prisoners are all still alive. Hurting but breathing...

tofie, I think Fernanda should know Luis "smashed her dream" (good one). But, I think that she still will forgive him. To what extent - I'm not sure.

I am also happy Fer was accepted at school. I was perturbed she didn't wear one of those pretty dresses she's been wearing lately. Did she have to wear that navel baring top?? Neither here nor there but it really irked me. Color me cranky.

Mariana shaken and stirred. She may have shed a tear, but I didn't.

David, thank you so much! This was great.

Diana

Thank you Aleta and David for the great recaps. It's been an interesting couple of episodes!

Anita, a DC meetup would be fun.

Kendra, I avoid the Beltway and I66 East like the plague! Luckily buses run into my neighborhood for commutes into DC.

Diana, I was so, so, SO happy that Fer went back to prison hair for the audition that I didn't mind the return of the mom jeans! But I see she's back in her dresses tonight.

Luis is just a hot mess right now. Not surprised his fellow imprisoned former slimekicks are abandoning him at all. I wish Fer would. I was glad she pressed for the audition.

Mariana is a shell of her former self and I agree, the old Mariana would've given it right back to that street gang. Might not have overpowered them, but they would've gotten some resistance and attitude from her.

The Diego story is just dark and scary and I think they could've done without it completely. I really hope Lucero and Olivia escape soon and he gets the worst anvil of them all.

Pedro and Amelia are kind of painful in a different way for me to watch. There's a romantic awkwardness between them that might make sense plotwise but it's weird for me.

David, that was great! That was so funny when you said that Apolinar "kindly takes time out of his busy schedule to instruct Luis how prison works."

I think that Diego may have let the girls have access to the Internet to look for recipes, and that's where Olivia saw that the police were searching for Diego. If that was the case, then why didn't Lucero send out a few emails asking for help?

Poor Lucero. She's been in the hovel for days now. I wonder if the hovel has indoor plumbing.

What was Mariana thinking, walking around town with all that jewelry and that oversized purse, never mind the high heels? I'm with you, Tofie, the old, badass Mariana would have made like Indiana Jones and reached in her big purse and pulled out her concealed carry.

Thank you Diana. Like you, I was surprised that Luis didn't fold like a wet cardboard box.

I also agree with you that I wasn't sorry for Mariana when she was accosted by the street hooligans. What I wish would have happened is that that gang threatened Malquerida. I think she would have pulled out her own knife and run them off.

It is curious that Diego can finance his lifestyle on what he earns, so your theory that he may have an inheritance may hold water.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

David

dy, how are you? A bunch of you are planning a get together in DC? I am jealous. I would love to have lunch with all of you.

Like you and Diana, I didn't understand the appropriateness of that bare midriff outfit for the audition, but what do I know about women's styles? At least she got the scholarship.

Diego IS darker and darker. I wonder what subsequent episodes will reveal about his twisted ability to cause deep and continuing pain.

Thanks again, dy.

David

Hi, Aleta. Glad you enjoyed the recap.

That is a good theory you have about the girls being given access to the internet to retrieve recipes. But, as you point out, that would also have given them an opportunity to communicate by email, so it is still a mystery.

Lucero looked completely beaten to me last night. I cannot imagine the soul crushing angst that being in that situation would create. Like you, I hope there is some form of sanitary provisions for her, but from the looks of it, it doesn't seem that there is.

I appreciate your kind words.

David

Hey David--You can have lunch with us. I'll start working on something for the fall.
This was a great episode--nothing much was resolved, but advances were made. The recap was full of your particular view of life. I love your recaps.

My favorite is, "She has a thousand yard stare. He locks her up again in his heavenly hovel and leaves." Poor Lucero. If they hadn't inserted this storyline into Camino, they would have had to come up with something else, so I guess this is what we got.

I completely agree with you, David that what Fer changed into at the construction site office was a step back in her recent sartorial splendor. She was actually proud of it when she told Pedro she had bought something special for the audition. I wonder if the dancing around had as much to do with her getting accepted than the piece she played.

Except for the mortification of being a victim of a robbery, Mariana can replace all the jewelry, credit cards, phone, etc. that she lost. However, at this late date in the show, I'm glad they didn't take her and molest her. Sorry about it, but I had to laugh at her trying to race down the stairs and then away from the thieves in those ridiculous high heels. I hope she had special insurance from Camino for that little scene. I'm with Blanca. She's doing the right thing for the wrong reasons. I think we are heading for a Hernan/Mariana re-union.

Ok, I still don't like the Pedro/Amelia re-union, but if it makes them happy and it makes Fer happy, I'll go along with it. It was a pleasure to see Amelia laughing at silly stuff. I didn't know she could be so cheerful.

Did anyone watching wonder why Marissa was being medically treated on a chaise lounge and not in her bedroom? It seemed rather silly to me, but then I noticed that they converted hers and Luis' master bedroom into Luis' new law office--same arrangement, different furniture. But once he was in prison, couldn't they have put the bedroom furniture back? Ah well, it's Ultimos Capitulos. Actually that should be oh, dear, it's Ultimo Capitulos.

Well, thank you for the lunch invite, Anita, but since I live in southern Indiana, I think that would be a very time consuming and costly undertaking for me. Besides, my wife thinks I'm nuts enough for just watching these things let alone flying half way across the country for lunch.

Yeah, Fer's belly button exposing outfit did not seem appropriate to me, but there were more men on the scholarship board, so maybe. . .

I have been kind of neutral about Pedro and Amelia, but I am warming to them. This is the happiest we have seen Amelia since she was a young girl.

Regarding Marissa's treatment outside, they seem to do a lot outside that doesn't seem appropriate to me, starting with Carlos' open air office and exam room when the story started.

Thanks again, Anita.

David

David, a swanky recap. The shipping crate of loooove. I think amelia is going to find out some really cool things about her future hubby. She got 20+ years if stuff to catch up on. Shes gonna have so much fun. And so much lovin comin her way. About time somebody gets it right on this show.

Carlos loves his mom.
Carlos is a momas boy.
Carlos better not let that interfear with his married life. Theres nothing wrong with lovin mom. I hope he don't get sickening with it. Hes happy shes alive. Yeah thats it. Good.

Luis' life is not all that interesting, I hope they hurry this segment along. But it is good seeing him get a but whippin. Its been a long time comin. Not as good as that one pedro gave him tho.
Ok on to the next page》》》》》》 Good recap David.
