Un Camino Hacia el Destino-Week 24 (Aug 1, 2016) 2nd Half

So, two of our bad guys are locked up in a prison, not unlike the one Fer was in. She’s feeling sorry for Luis, who insists on calling her Luisa, after himself, because she knows what prisons are like. Carlos and many on the Caray Patio would do not agree, after all the maldad he’s caused, and which Carlos keeps enumerating. Luis deserves to be where he is and he deserves to get the best treatment from Apolinaro and his gang.

Luis, on the other hand, was feeling great as he made arrangements to flee the country, leaving this daughter he’s been fighting for, for weeks, in order to avoid prison. With glee he believes he’s off to Taiwan holding onto a cheap little necklace (not unlike the one Felipe wanted to give Fer at the beginning of this story). Taiwan is pretty far away to try to recoup a daughter he didn't know he had for 20 years and to whom he’s caused nothing but pain and sorrow. How nice the getaway was foiled by the hardworking police force.

Of course, Luis wouldn’t be where he is today had Carlos not been able to recoup the box of documents proving that Luis had ruined his family’s bank. So much for listening at doors and overhearing conversations—now I’m all for it.

Luis is last seen vowing to get out of prison one way or another and give Fer the necklace. When it is taken from him by other prisoners, his one-track mind focuses on the necklace rather than thinking about becoming a model prisoner and serving his time.

It seems to me that Luis is feeling sorry enough for himself than for Fer to feel sorry for him, too. What will Fernanda do about her feelings for Luis? We can only wait and see.

I hope this works for everyone. I will be away all of Week 27. I'm not sure whether this will end with two hours on Friday 26th or with one hour on Monday 29th. Endings are now trending to a Monday El Fin, but we'll keep an ear out for any announcements.

This happened to me with Quiero Amarte. I was away the whole last week. I'll have to plan vacations around endings from now on.

Hello all, Anita, after recapping every night for so long (bless your heart!) you have put together one of the best recapping teams ever. Thank you Anita, and thank you to the other recappers. You have done this show proud. I'm sorry I've lurked for so long, especially after promising to comment.

By the way, I live in southeastern Virginia and would love to come to the Caray lunch if you'll have me. Probably Mike also. We almost got to meet Vivi a few years ago but our train was really late arriving in DC (from Chicago, we were coming home from vacation) and she had to go back to work.

This had been a good telenovela and I will miss it, and all of you, when it is over.

Of course we'll have you and Mike. I'll put you on the invite list. How does early October sound? It will probably be a LONG lunch with plenty of time to visit.

Sounds perfect. We usually leave mid to late October for our train trip but haven't even booked it yet. I'll keep early Oct. open. Definitely needs to be a long lunch. Looking forward to it, yay!

Hey Anita - the 11th and 22nd work for me. Thank you for organizing all of the recaps, and lunch, and for the many early recaps you did solo - I relied on them heavily when I first got into this show and needed to understand the parts I had missed!

I am very interested to see where this Luis/Fernanda thing is going too.

I'm here! So far those dates work, but it's possible the 18th might not. Don't change anything. I should no for sure by Tuesday. Also lunch sounds great. I will echo the sentiments shared. I'm glad you took on our show and turned this patio into the awesomeness it is today. I will miss it as I'm not sure if I will watch what looks like the replacement. I will give it a couple of weeks.

I will get back to you about the 18th.

I'm just anxious to see this weeks episodes.

Episode #108 (Thus Aug 4) Pt. 1
Bodas on the Horizon
Carlos brings Marissa a drink on their Patio; she wants him to go to a date he had. Ordoñez arrives with the divorce papers. Marissa is overanxious to sign. She’s happy. (Ordoñez is very happy.) He has more good news. Luis got 10 years for the bank fraud. On top of that, the judge decided to review the attempted murder of Marissa, so he could stay in prison the rest of his life.

Luis, on the other hand, has decided not to stay in prison. Still banged up and bruised he goes to talk to Apolinaro. He has something valuable to trade for getting his bauble back. It turns out Apolinaro was unjustly imprisoned for the robbery of a warehouse he didn’t commit. He knows Apo is innocent because the owner hired Luis as the attorney and paid him a lot of money to make sure he was found guilty. It was the owner’s son who was the real culprit.

Luis is back in his cell. He displays his gloating grin. He has his locket back. Next up—his freedom.

Carlos has decided to hang out with Marissa for a little motherly TLC. She can see he has his jealousy of Javier in check. Carlos says he trusts Fer. He says they were destined for each other. Marissa says she can tell by the way Fer looks at Carlos she is deeply in love with him. They snuggle up on the chaise lounge together in the afternoon shade. Carlos asks if she would ever be open to falling in love again. Marissa says that after what she went through with Luis, the answer is no. Carlos follows up with another question. What would she have said to him if he had felt that way after breaking up with Isabela or had a terrible, bad day at university? Marissa says she would have told him to follow his dreams. One stumble shouldn’t mark him forever and to know where he is going. She adds that Luis wasn’t just a stumble.

Coincidentally, President Obama must have been watching Camino ahead because he echoed Carlos’ thoughts this afternoon as Carlos asks Marissa when does a terrorist win. Marissa replies when he accomplishes his goal. Carlos says no, it’s afterwards—to make people live in fear. He suggests that life is to be lived, without fear. That’s what they’ve been put on this earth to do—LIVE. He wants her to be open to the possibility of finding a good man to be with.

Javier gets home and calls out for Malquerida. He is surprised by a surprise birthday party, except he claims it is not his birthday. (OT. Brandon Peniche’s birthday is August 3. He turned 30 on Wednesday.) They shoot him with Silly String (or whatever they call it these days), but he cleans up well and has no hard feelings. Malquerida said the birthday party was the only thing she could think of to get everyone together and in a festive mood. Javier seemed like he needed some cheering up. He blows out the candles on his non-birthday, birthday cake and waits while they sing happy birthday. Then there is dancing. Fer and Pedro can certainly cut a rug. Javier and Maribel talk about her progress and her love—love for her children, that is. She’d like to see them again and tell them she loves them. They are interrupted by Fer and Pedro who drag them off to dance. Arteaga and La Malquerida are a mis-match to watch dancing but they seem to be enjoying themselves until she misinterprets one of his comments. All’s well though and cleared up and they keep dancing even after he asks for her phone number.

The party is over and the next day, Fer is getting ready to celebrate her acceptance to music school with a big family and friends breakfast. Carlos arrives to help with the cooking. Fer wants to know if he left Marissa alone. Carlos says yes, he tied her up and left her without food or water—broma. He left her with Ordoñez (the sneaky little matchmaker).

Episode #108 (Thus Aug 4) Pt. 2
Carlos, as earnest as he can be, tells Fer he wants to get married right away, like now, like today. He can’t wait. She can’t wait either, but they ought to wait until all the people they love can be with them—his mother has to get better and they have to find Camila and Lucero. Carlos reluctantly agrees to wait. There are smoochies galore. Fer and Carlos have gone inside the cabaña. She’s counting plates and Carlos is cooking up a storm in a red-checkered apron and what looks like a brand new T-Fal Non-Stick Cookware, 9” open fry pan. They are completely domesticated.

Pedro arrives at the Construction Company office to pick up Amelia. One of the employees objects to Pedro parking his jalopy by the office, assuming he’s looking for a job. Pedro is in such good humor, he ignores the guy after trying to explain his reason for being there, smiles and dances on inside. Of course the guy is surprised and embarrassed when Amelia comes out with Pedro and even kisses him before getting in the pickup. Pedro is still smiling and thanks the guy for watching the car and drives away. The guy is left with Amelia’s rebuke still fresh in his mind—that he’d better watch how he treats folks.

Mariana, still dressed in her mourning-after the hold-up black shift and the same black-strap heels (but no jewelry or make-up—hmmm.) She doesn’t look the worse for wear after her ordeal and her sharp tongue is still in working order. Blanca has been telling her she’s off to a special family gathering, to which Mariana was not invited. She lays it on rather thick, but tells her she does care for her. She was a mother to her and Amelia and now she’s like a grandmother to Fer. Blanca sends one last zinger Mariana’s way before she leaves. She says that being a family is not dictated by blood alone. If Mariana had been a better mother to Camila, she wouldn’t be lost now. Mariana is left alone to reflect on Blanca’s words. Could it be she does miss the bi-polar-haired Camila? As she sits on the sofa, she sees the front page of the newspaper with the story of the professor who marries young girls and then they disappear.

At the happy breakfast gathering, Carlos is still in smoochie mode. Sor Sonrisa gets up and asks if she can sing Ave Maria for Fer and Carlos. They both say yes. Then she asks when will the boda be. Everybody wants to know. Carlos wants to know. They begin calling out, “Queremos boda, queremos boda.” Fer just smiles and glows. Paco, on the other hand, wants more little brothers. He announces that he and Carlos will take care of them while Fer studies. Then Paco has another one of his Future Reveries Foretold and cutely realizes a bunch of little brothers are hard to mind, especially when lazy Carlos won’t wake up to help. He decides that Pedrito and himself are all they need right now. Javier and Maribel talk. He tells her she’s his favorite patient. (I think he’s subtly telling her that’s all she’ll ever be.)

Fer wants to know why LaMalquerida didn’t come. Before Javier can answer, we are whisked away to the sad and depressing abode where Mopsy lives. Her sister Topsy is trying to get her to stir and get out of the house and back to work. As much as Mopsy resists, Topsy insists. Finally, Isy is beaten down and she gets dressed to go back to her spa-modeling empire. Upon arriving they see a new modeling class is in session. One of the new recruits offends Isy. She calls her a horse and wants her out of there. That “horse” is none other than LaMalquerida who hasn’t forgotten her dream of being Miss Universe and signed up to learn. Of course, it isn’t Isy’s dream and she wants her gone. She tries to shame LaM into quitting, but our LaM is not a quitter and tells her so. Isy is forced to back down and leaves the arena. LaM continues her lessons. She’s a quick learner, especially the lesson on how to do the Hair Swish.

Episode #108 (Thus Aug 4) Pt. 3
Mariana does the right thing and calls Detective Medina, in charge of the investigation into the Professor and the Bobby Soxer. She has information. He looks so relieved. He must have called Pilar right away and Pilar called Rosaura because Rosaura shares the news with the breakfast celebrants. She surprises Fer when she tells her it was her aunt Mariana that had new information. They all want to help search.

Hernan is surprised to learn it was Mariana that had valid information on that serial kidnapper. Mariana says there was something about him that just didn’t seem right when she encountered him. Now she also remembers the girl was one of Camila’s friends and had been to the house. Herm is pleased she actually did something out of the goodness of her heart. She looks at him and silently thinks to herself that the only gesture of goodness that is important to her is to find Camila so Herm will come back to her.

Diego is with Olivia. He is roiling inside. She wants to help him. She loves him. She wants him to calm down. He says he has to leave but he can’t. He’s pacing. He’s nervous. She says she believes him when he told her he married Lucero and she abandoned him, but does not believe the other stuff. She admits she used the computer even though he forbade her. He gets really angry with her. Olivia swears she loves him and only wants to help him. Apparently Diego believes her and hugs her and tells her he loves her. Then he says he has to go. Olivia says she’ll stay right there waiting for him.

Detective Medina is out in the field with his men, giving instruction on how to conduct the search. He considers the professor to be dangerous. Rosaura, Pilar and Fer come running up to help. Medina says absolutely not and pushes Pilar back as she tries to cross the police line. Medina is still arguing with the ladies when Diego appears at the edge of the field. He realizes they are onto him and close to finding Lucero. Fer sees him. She tries to tell Medina but he won’t listen to her. He needs to get on with his job. The officers go one way, Fer goes the other. Pilar and Rosaura are left near the police car, hugging each other.

The heightened drama is deflated a bit as Amelia and Pedro discuss Fer’s going off to help find Lucero. Pedro reminds Amelia that Fer is an adult now and will make her own decisions, not that she would listen to them anyway, in this case. Amelia is worried for her. However, one decision she’s happy about is Fer getting married. She suggests she and Pedro follow her example and asks Pedro if he would like to marry her. He’s surprised and tongue-tied and elated, all at once. She has to ask again—yes or no. He says yes, oh happy, happy Pedro.

Mariana goes back to where she left off looking for Camila. Camila, looking like death warmed over wanders into a shop to beg for a taco. The owner throws her out and she lands face first at the feet of some black-strap heels we know belong to Mariana. (OK. We’re one step closer to the boda!)

Diego runs through the brush back to the hut where he has Lucero. Fer and her purse are hot on his trail, but staying well out of sight. Diego arrives inside the hut. Lucero panics. She screams she doesn’t want him to touch her. He grabs her. She continues to scream. He tells her they have to leave. They are struggling. All of a sudden, Fer is inside the hut and Diego is stunned to see her. Fer is stunned by what she sees. (OK. Now we’re two steps closer to the boda!)

Nina--So glad you stopped by to leave the last word on this Week's First Half page. It's always fun to read your take on things and the people that do them!

Anita, they didnt have a brand new T-Fal Non-Stick Cookware 9" open frying pan, did they? LOL!

So Luis got sentenced but we don't get to see a trial. I guess they've shown enough trials and this isn't Law & Order SVU.

Mopsy and Topsy too funny. Im falling asleep typing so I better stop.

Thanks for that recap can't wait to see it.

Holy Cow!! Another richly detailed, snarky recap by Anita. What a treat!

You know, I have to wonder if the writers are poking fun at Mexico's judicial system what with all the people being in the clink in this tn that don't belong there.

I thought Carlos snuggling with his mother was a little creepy over the top.

The role of Malquerida is one of my favorite supporting roles. I just think that her spunkiness is wonderfully entertaining. I don't know how tall all of the rest of the cast are, but this actress seems tiny in comparison. As a measure of her spunkiness, she turned the lie of Jav's birthday into a totally delightful get together.

Carlos' insistence on getting married TODAY seemed immature to me, and Fer, always the more mature one it seems to me, calmly explained why they should wait.

Mariana, in fits and starts, is slowly working her way back into respectability, guided by the steady hand of Blanca, holding out hope that Mariana could finally fit in with a loving group. "She says that being a family is not dictated by blood alone."

I hope Olivia is not going to turn into an enabler.

With Fer on the case, I think Diego's goose is cooked.

I loved your countdown to the Fer's boda as things unfolded last night.

Thanks again, Anita. So wonderfully done.

David

Great recap Anita! I didn't think I had missed things but I totally had! Thank you.

"We’re one step closer to the boda!" My thoughts exactly. I did laugh when Fer said they couldn't get married because her bridesmaids are missing. It's not a funny situation but something about her line delivery was funny.

Luis kills me with the never-say-die attitude. I actually admire that in him. How fortuitous he'd been paid off to jail the guy with the necklace.

I was so glad that Mariana did tell the cops about her encounter with Diego.

Olivia proved yesterday to be the dumbest character in a group of characters that includes Pedro and Maribel (who, by the way, have more chemistry together than they have with Amelia or Javier).

David, I hear you on Carlos and Marissa but as a mom, whenever the grown kids want to snuggle, I'm down because it happens so rarely. So I got Marissa's happy face.

Javier is going to lose the awesomeness that is the Malquerida to Dr. Arteaga.

Oh this is just right Anita.

Mopsy and Topsy hehehe

Agree David, I get a little boy wrapped around mommie but that was weird. However, I've always seen Carlos a spoiled mommies boy in a big boy body and he backed it up again when he was badger/begging/stomping his little feet trying to have Fernanda say yes. I feel bad for the girl, she has three young boys to clean up after and wipe their noses. What is it with La Toddle and manboys?

One comment on the upcoming show. Crap it's Daniel Arenas

Oh gawd it was so funny Fernanda following Diego.

Finally Maribel mentioned her kids but do not understand trying to jam she and Javier together, it is yuck.

Also agree with you David, Malquerida steals the show

Anita, thank you for bringing sparkling sunlight into this day. I loved your recap. You are a marvelous writer.

"They are completely domesticated", "mourning-after the hold-up black shift" and "Future Reveries Foretold" were among many favorites. Mopsy and Topsy were over the moon creative...I kept wondering if Topsy's shirt (masquerading as a dress) was going to reveal a bit too much.

That party! Poor Jav does not have an abundance of friends does he? But, I agree that the party was a hit - all due to Pedro/Jorge. The dude can dance! He was having his own private, happy party. Moving, gyrating and having a marvelous time. Fer seemed to be smiling as her real self (not as her character).

But, the mismatched couples were perplexing. "Javier and Maribel talk. He tells her she’s his favorite patient. (I think he’s subtly telling her that’s all she’ll ever be)". Yes, let's hope so! That besotted look on Maribel's place is sorely misplaced. Bad as that was, "Arteaga and La Malquerida are a mis-match to watch dancing but they seem to be enjoying themselves until she misinterprets one of his comments. All’s well though and cleared up and they keep dancing even after he asks for her phone number". Huh??? Malquerida clearly should be with Jav!! David, I am totally with you - her character is simply great. She could teach Giselle a thing or two about modeling before this is through I'll wager.

And Amelia wasn't at the party because...?

My favorite scene was Paco running around (with rollers in his hair) trying to keep his yet to be born siblings in check. Love that kid.

What is our dear sprite going to be able to do physically to keep the strong, belligerent Diego in check?

Will Mariana's heart of stone crack at finding her not quite loved step daughter or will she continue to be just a means to an end for a reconciliation with Hernan?

Why do the credits no longer show Brandon or Patricia's images with their names? Inquiring minds wonder...

Anita, thank you, thank you.

Diana

dy; "How fortuitous he'd been paid off to jail the guy with the necklace." For me, that could have gone either way. I think I would have been pretty peeved to learn that the dirty lawyer who got me into this mess was right in front of me. Should have merited Luis another beatdown, but I understand that he dangled to promise of freedom, which trumped everything else.

tofie; "What is it with La Toddle and man boys?" Yeah, and romantic scenes of couples making out in trees.

Diana; "My favorite scene was Paco running around (with rollers in his hair) trying to keep his yet to be born siblings in check." I thought that scene was a hoot too. I did not get why Paco thought Carlos would be a lazy sleep-late-ignore-the-kids kind of father, though.

David

Thank you for leaving your comments. It certainly gives us a broader perspective on things.

Tofie--I haven't watched enough LaToodle productions, but I do have to agree that the cuddling was a bit much--especially awkward when the two didn't fit well on that chaise lounge. I keep thinking that the folks in charge of sets ran out of time or money on bedrooms and bedroom furniture.

Diana--I didn't describe the Paco scene, because I assumed everyone would have seen it and enjoyed it. I loved the hair rollers, too. He certainly looked frazzled by all those active kids. He's had some precious scenes in the story, so I won't hold it against him that he might be some staff person's kid.

Oh, Amelia wasn't at the party because she's an important impresario of an important construction company and had to be at work (my guess).

I haven't checked the credits on Brandon and Patricia. I usually skip them, but will tonight. I'd like to see if Yuliana's is still there. They go by too fast for me anyway.

David--I'm so sorry you won't come and have lunch with us!! As for Olivia--I think she's a pretty smart gal. She's already questioned Diego about the need for her to be locked in and worries about his not coming home. She did use the internet when he told her not to. I wonder if she's been bluffing. Rather than an enabler, she may have become the traditional victim of domestic abuse and believes she's at fault when her partner gets angry and believes him when he says he's sorry. So far he hasn't be physically abusive, thank goodness. But he has said some things that ought to turn on the light bulbs, dim as they might be--when he says she can't go out because a woman's place is to take care of the house, food, husband and not be running around in the streets. She comes from a well-to-do home and I'm sure that is not how she was raised--boarding school or not.

Anita, Thank you! That was great! There were a few things that I didn't pick up on, and you connected the dots.

I hope that the show will get delayed by a day or two and that you'll be able to recap the last episodes. Since you're one who got this party started, it's only right that you should wrap things up for us.

Watching Pedro dance the salsa was fun! I wonder how he learned to dance like that during his 19 years of misery with Amelia. I was surprised that Fernanda wasn't a better dancer. Who or what has Pedro been dancing with? A broom or a rake?

Anita, I hope you're right about Javier and Maribel not becoming a couple. I like him so much better with Malquerida. That actress eats up the screen, and I hope to see her in more TNs in the future.

Hello all I have been very busy all week rehabbing (?) furniture and taking care of my injured cat, so haven't been online much although I have faithfully watched all eps this week. I have just now caught up with all the fantastic recaps! Wow this tn is moving and it seems as Anita pointed out we are one step closer to the boda! Is Holivia in her right mind? This chick is delusional or even more unbalanced than Demonego. Pedro is a moron, he can dance but is still a moron. How much longer do we have to put up with gooey eyed Kleptobelle? Will Javier choose her over Malquerida? Will my swagalicious Ordonez finally find love? Will Marissa take the leap into his arms? All these burning questions!

Friday nights ep will be up by morning!

Anita I enjoyed your recap. It is funnily snarkily fun. Carlos was creepin me out layin up there on momma bear like that. They should never do that again. Never.

Happy for amelia and pedro. Much deserved happiness.
Mariana is a very notty girl. Shes got a spankin comin.

There are serial killers, serial rapest, serial dieters. Diego is a SERIAL MARRIER!!!! CREEPY. Where did he get all that money for those apartments to store his wives in? He should be locked up for committing unholy matrimony. However many wives he has, thats how long he stays in the clink. No paroll.

Paco would be a good study for javier. The stuff that kid can think up.
Ok its late. I had to see the torch get lit. Thats done. Bedtime.

Thanks Anita.

Friday 8/5/2016 Part I

We stir the refried beans to see our favorite heroine Fernanda fearlessly jumping into the shack and surprising Lucero and Prof Demonego who wants to know what Fer is doing there. Well it’s not to borrow a cup of sugar dude, or maybe you were hoping she wanted to be numero tres? At least this wife could play you a tune! But no…our spunky sprite says she is there to retrieve her friend and he would do well to cooperate because the Policia is on the way…(they just took another route). Demonego isn’t keen on Fer butting into their relationship, they’re in wuv, right Lucero? Fer reminds him of how she once supported them and their love, she was even a madrina at the nuptials; but holding her bestie captive wasn’t part of the marital vows. So Yo Demonego! *snap-snap* esto se acabo!

Meanwhile Camideville with perfect roots but tattered leather recognizes the cankles and looks up to see Mariana looking down at her, “Camila is that you?” Cami who is so relieved to see a familiar face reaches up only to be rejected because of how dirty (sucia)she is. Meanie is afraid she’s going to catch something and says so prompting Cami to flee. Meanie yells “Do not make me chase you and much less in heels!”

Detective Medina Pacino and his popo posse stomp through the field as he orders them to keep looking for the nutty professor. This man is very dangerous! Meanwhile back at the whack love shack, Fer who I might add has no formal training, begins hostage negotiations. She urges Demonego to let Lucero go. He’s not a bad guy…he just needs help. Well he’s not going to let them lock him up in any mental hospital, he says before turning to Lucero to plant one last slimy kiss. “I love you Lucero, we’ll be back together one day” He flees as Lucero relieved falls to the ground. “Thank you Fer, you saved my life!”

Cami starved but still not too weak to run like the wind, gives Meanie a run around the park. Meanie is determined, she vows to herself not to let Cami escape her this time!

Friday 8/5/2016 Part II

Medina and his posse are still on the hunt when a now free Loosero (<---back to this) and Fer encounter him. They warn him that Demonego has escaped! Medina orders an ambulance, but hysterical Loose wants to see her mom. In due time girl.

Cami is huddled behind a building, in tears. She relives how Meanie recoiled from her in disgust. Her father will surely react the same way and so she has to forget about him.

Rosaura and Pilar huddle together waiting for word of Loose when she appears, limping like a linebacker off the field, escorted by Medina. Mother and daughter embrace and Loose apologizes to Pilar for not listening to her about marrying Demonego. Her mother says not to torment herself further. They’re together and that’s what’s important! Ro apologizes for putting her faith in the nutty professor instead of doing a full background check. Yup Madre..we all fell for that pretty face! So get ye to the confessional! Pilar thanks Medina not sure how she can repay him ( er…I have some ideas!) But right now Fer thinks they shouldn’t forget about HoLivia and the other gals who need rescuing. Just then we see Demonego has two more wives being held captive each in their own artsy fartsy apartments. He brings them clean clothes and tells them how he wants them to look beautiful, just like when he first met them. They are obviously terrified.

Cami still huddled down hiding, wishes she could go back to the girl she was before. At the very least bathed, with clean clothes and well fed. She has a flashback of BulimiAdelina rejecting a hot meal at school. She knows that life is over. But what about Addie? Is anyone concerned about this chick?

Meanie who has lost the scent of the sucia Cami, continues hollering for the girl. She hates that she is humiliating herself by yelling in the street as if she is selling tamales! Oh but if you were selling tamales Meanie, Cami would come running for a dozen! I digress, Meanie is only concerned that once again her happiness with Hernan depends on Cami.

Over at AltaManor, Amelia can’t wait to announce to Blanca that she has proposed to the gardudner. No that is not a typo. He’s a dud in my book! I proposed Nana! Amelia announces as if it’s the greatest thing in the world. Blanca is so happy for her beaming Nina. She finally took the blinders off to see the man who always loved her even when she didn’t want him too. Why he’s perfect and she is going to make him happy and take good care for him. Blanca thinks it’s quite modern that Amelia proposed and says how very lucky she is…it’s not so easy to just find a man like Pedro around any corner. Boy, I’ll say..at least wash day will be very simple. He only has two shirts and two pairs of jeans. That’s gotta be some woman’s dream. Go get ‘em Amelia!

Friday 8/5/2016 Part III

Louse sits thinking and planning, wondering when he will have his appointment with the judge. Just then a guard comes, marveling at Louse’s good fortune that the judge is willing to give him a few minutes to hear what he has to say. Louse is confident he has something.

Marissa dressed for Ramadan in one of her kaftans, dines with swagalicious O who has cooked a meal for Marissa. She had no idea he could cook so well. He isn’t sure if It’s all that great but since he lives alone, he cooks for himself. Marissa wants O to take her walking but he says no…he’s not catching the wrath of Carlos. The instructions were to take care of her and make sure she took it easy. Well it’s been two days and she’s going crazy. “Marissa, it’s definitely no” but later we see that Marissa is one persuasive chica because she and O are strolling arm in arm , he doesn’t know how she convinced him. Well don’t worry no one will find out. He has to understand, it’s horrible to have such a disease that stops you from living your life. She wonders what she did to deserve this. O says it’s just things that happen in life. She was and still is a grand woman who can manage her home and her family. O takes Marissa’s hand in his (sigh) . Luis was just a patan (lout) who didn’t know to value the wonderful woman she is, but it doesn’t mean that other’s don’t know. Marissa becomes embarrassed by his praise thanking him. He just wants her to know what’s in his heart. He doesn’t know anyone like her. Yow-za! Marissa you..not Amelia are the luckiest gal. A smooth man with style, killer wardrobe, cooking skills and a good dry cleaners!

The judge can’t believe that for all the time he’s known Louse, this is the first time he wants to do things right. Well better late than never Judge. Louse wants to come clean about the wills he’s analyzing. The judge doesn’t trust Louse to not want something in exchange. Is he angling for a reduced sentence? Nope, Louse for the first time just wants his daughter Fernanda to get what she deserves and is rightfully hers. He tells the judge he wrote the two wills. Well which one is the right one? Louse says the first one, it has all the legal seals of the notary. Fernandough Altamirano specifically requested everything be left to his granddaughter, Luisa Fernanda Altamirano. The judge wants to know how he can be sure the second will is false? Louse says it was a trap to hurt the actual heiress. He remembers his convo with Meani about it and how she implied he was only interested in protecting his own interests in the money. The judge wonders if Louse realizes what he’s saying. Yup, I’m confessing to another crime. The judge says yes, a crime that will add more years in the slammer. It’s all good, as long as Fernanda gets the property that is rightfully hers.

Friday 8/5/2016 Part IV

Meanie isn’t in the mood for Fer’s rays of sunshine. She just wants to sip her daily cup of bitter bitch tea. Fer isn’t about to pass on the opportunity to add a few lumps of sugar. She knows Meanie’s attitude is all a façade and a mask to protect herself, she’s just never felt loved! Meanie wants to know when Fer became a psychologist (it was part of the hostage negotiation curriculum). Meanie says she can take her analyzing out the door. Fer says Meanie isn’t as bad as she appears. Oh no? Meanie reminds Fer that not once but twice she tried to assassinate her family members..Pedro and Amelia. Oh that? Fer giggles…you’re a clumsy buffoon Auntie…your plans never work out. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you because of you, I got my friend Lucero back. Fer goes in for the family hug but Meanie draws the line at that. Fer leaves Meanie perplexed but perhaps also slightly charmed by her niece.

Marissa and Swag-O sit on the patio, playing cards and laughing. They are going down a twenty year memory lane. It’s been that long O says. It seems like another life. Meanwhile over the hedges, Chismoso --Carlos and Metiche—Paco, spy. Paco wonders if his Abuelita is falling in love because he’s never seen her this way. Carlos says he doubts it, but if that were to happen he would love it to be with O. They continue watching as O and Marissa continue laughing. “We are bad”

Fer and Pedro discuss Camila and Hernan. All will be perfect when Camilla is home. Pedro knows they have looked everywhere for her. Fer says all except wherever Cami is. Pedro can’t believe Hernan’s change in attitude. Fer says all he needs is his daughter back, everyone deserves a second chance. Pedro isn’t sure everyone deserves them..for example Luis Montero. Oh STFU high and mighty self righteous Pedro. This guy bugs with his judgements. Fer says well Hernan didn’t put her in prison or abandon her before she was born. They are interrupted by Amelia and O who arrive to announce that the Judge has ruled, Fer is the rightful heiress to her grandfather’s fortune. Fer isn’t all that jazzed and neither is Meanie who is back at AltaManor ranting to Hernan. She’s going to demand it all be put back in her name, but Hernan says accept it and move on. Oh hell naw, you want me to throw her a party? I was the one who was here all the time taking care of my father and putting up with him. Hernan tells her it was all for her own self interests so stop playing. Meanie isn’t interested in his sermons, she wants his help. Nope, you won’t see a cent, just the money he gets from his job…it’s in the will. She might want to think about packing up, because the gardeners daughter owns the house too. Meanie says well we’ll see, this is her house and the only way they’ll get her out, is dead. But Fer back at her little house, she is content to stay in, refuses the money again. She has no desire for it, let Meanie have it, she’s dying for it anyway. O says he did what he needed to do, so he’s leaving now, they can figure it out. Amelia tries to reason with Fer, it was her fathers wish that his granddaughter have his fortune. Fer says all her life, people around her have been fighting for money. Her father abandoned her and married a woman for money. He tried to kill his wife for money. They need to respect her wishes to earn how own way in life. Pedro sees her point of view.

Friday 8/5/2016 Part V

Later Carlos tries to reason with Fer from another perspective, he knew Don Fer and he was a wonderful man. He looked forever for his grand daughter. Fer thinks the time they had together is much more than money could ever give her. Carlos says she is being arrogant and prideful. Money can’t buy her happiness, but it can help her. He asks her to rethink her position and accept her abuelitos last wish. She isn’t budging with Carlos either and asks him to respect her decision. I agree with Carlos, get over yourself Fer. Pedro has rubbed off on her too much. It's a gift, put it away for your kids, start a charity or just shut about it now. Reverse snobbery is not a good look on her.

Finally it’s Fer’s first day of class. She is hurried and nervous, but happy too. Pedro and Kleptobelle tell her Pedrito is in good hands. The same hands that have been caring for him for the last two years. She tells them Carlos is coming buy and Klepto wonders how, doesn’t Carlos have to work? Fer says well he's got it under control. Fer sits later in class, surrounded by the other students. They have a mini jam session and then switch instruments. It appears Fer is a natural with the guitar. Meanwhile we see Carlos juggles fatherhood and his career.

Kleptobelle tells Fer that Javier has finally scraped the bottom and asked her for a date. Fer is happy for her friend and they discuss the date as the phone rings. Hola! It’s PaPa Louis. He hopes enough time has passed that his daughter has forgiven him. Umm…no dude..she was in jail two years, you? about two months. Call back in another eighteen months or so She tells him to stop calling. Louse doesn’t give up though, how is school? She’s living out her dream, is the money helping? Well yeah she’s living her dream to study music but that money will be returned. She wants nothing from him. Ouch!

Mal and Javier travel the markets, with Jav weighed down with bags. Mal says if she were a man she would be able to carry those bags better than him. Well then carry a few huh? Umm then who’ll pick the fruits and veggies? Jav thinks they have enough and should just head home. Mal is hungry and can’t go to her class on an empty stomach. She drags Jav to the pizza stand. I love this gal! #TeamMalquerida

Louse isn’t asking for Fer to call him Dad or anything, just let him feel like hes part of her life by helping her out with school. He even did the right thing by getting her inheritance. Well now more than ever she doesn’t want it knowing he had a hand in it. Well all he did was do the right thing. He just wants her forgiveness and maybe a bit of her love. Fer can’t handle it..he’s making her feel bad and she hangs up. Apolinar comes along, wanting to know when Louse is getting him out. I told ya, I have to talk with your lawyer. Oh yeah? Well I’ve got nothing to pay with. Louse says that’s not his problem. Oh yes it is, if you want those eyes to say blue instead of purple you’ll do what we agreed upon. His buddy says if not..you die.

Fer is tormented. She wonders if she is bad for treating Louse this way. Klepto says Fer is not a bad person, but Fer says even good people do bad things. She wants Louse to stop calling and forget her so she can forget him. Klepto says she wasn’t born loving him, and that’s that. But Fer’s anguished face says it may not be that simple.

FIN

Good morning, Delilah. Gee, what a wonderful recounting of last night's goings on.

I totally agree with you that Fer should accept the inheritance and, if she doesn't want the money herself, she could start a foundation to address some social concern, of which she has many. Perhaps she could donate funds for the care of street children like Paco, or fund research into professors with polygamy on their mind. She could allow Mariana to live at the hacienda which could be converted into an institute for housing unloving wives.

Fer really does not need that money at any rate. I suppose she will marry Carlos and live with him on his estate. (By the way, I wonder what the electric bill is for those pumps in their pond that shoot water 50 feet into the air?)

"Oh, that? Fer giggles. . .You're a clumsy buffoon, Auntie. . .your plans never work out" had me laughing, as well as your observation that Fer wants to add a few lumps of sugar to Mariana's bitter tea.

Luis is trying so hard to rehabilitate himself. I hope he succeeds, but continues to be a pariah.

Marissa and O were so cute last night, as were Paco and Carlos spying on them and enjoying seeing Marissa happy once again.

Once again, when Malquerida comes on the scene she is the center of attention and the motive force driving things forward. Just love that character.

Lucero was damned lucky things worked out as they did, but I wonder how they will ever find the rest of Diego's harem unless they catch him and he confesses?

Thanks again, Delilah. Nice gift to wake up to on a Saturday morning.

David

Oh, and one other thing, Delilah. I did not understand what the problem was when Apolinar confronted Luis, and said he didn't have a lawyer. To me, the simple solution would be that Luis would act as his lawyer. Did I miss something about this?

Also, I can't find a definition for Apolinar. It sounds like an AR verb being used as a prison pseudonym.

David

Exceptional Delilah. Truly.

"Demonego", "Camideville with perfect roots but tattered leather recognizes the cankles", "Meanwhile back at the whack love shack" and "Fer who I might add has no formal training, begins hostage negotiations" were but a few favorites among many.

"She relives how Meanie recoiled from her in disgust". For a fleeting second, wounds could have been healed and reconciliation a reality. If only Mariana had reached out and held Camila as the poor waif pitifully held out her arms! But alas, Mariana wasted an amazing opportunity. Even her usually crafty mind failed to grasp in that split second that had she seized the moment, Cam would have come home and she would be back with Hernan.

That sad scene aside, this was one of my favorite episodes.

"Luis was just a patan (lout) who didn’t know to value the wonderful woman she is, but it doesn’t mean that other’s don’t know". Sigh. A couple who compliment each other beautifully and who deserve each other unconditionally.

"Fer leaves Meanie perplexed but perhaps also slightly charmed by her niece". Yes, begrudging respect for her enemy who rather too easily forgave her, even for her failed murder attempts! Mariana, you were given so many gifts last night, but you rebuffed and refused to my utter confusion.

"Reverse snobbery is not a good look on her". No, it doesn't - why on earth does she pick this instance to not listen to Pedro?? Money is only an issue when you do not have it.

Jav did ask Maribel on a date? Color me confused. Why on earth would he ever focus on her when Malquerida is in full bloom? "when Malquerida comes on the scene she is the center of attention and the motive force driving things forward" said it perfectly David. I hope the writers come to their usual astute senses and change this pronto.

I still love Amelia and Pedro. In the real world, marriage is supposed to signify the ultimate in love and happiness. But all too often, love disintegrates and turns into anger, resentment and bitterness. This reverse love story proves that in the power and sheer force of love. It is a message of real hope.

Not everyone can be fully redeemed. Luis is trying (albeit far too late) to earn Fernanda's forgiveness and does (finally) have her best interest at heart. Still, he has no remorse beyond that - for Marissa and the others in his orbit that he has harmed.

I enjoy Fer's whirling through her life, spreading happiness and cheer, being with her family, with Carlos, her children. When I grow up, I would like to be like her...

Delilah, thank you for your care and attention in writing this most excellent summary.

Diana

Diana: You want to be like Fernanda ? Seems correct!

I'm thinking Mariana needs to DIE! She's a lost cause!

Steve, Fernanda lives life fully and happily. She harbors no malice and loves and forgives unconditionally. I would be a better person if I emulated her more fully.

You may be right that Mariana is a lost cause but this TN harbors many surprises. I don't think we can be sure of anything until the FIN has flashed.

Diana

Is Fer getting a music scholarship? If she is, she is robbing someone who truly doesn't have the means to pay of an opportunity.

Very interesting question anon.

I thought Fer said she was going to pay back whatever source was funding her training, but I will leave the answer to someone else.

Diana

Oh so many comments to comment on but on my phone ugh!

Delilah that recap had me dying laughing! Oh how these recaps are coming to an end (sad face)

David your suggestions on what Fer can do with the money were funny and dead on. She really irritated me with turning that money down when she could do so much good with it.

She can forgive Mariana for trying to kill her and her father? I'm confused. She cut brakes, killed a driver, paralyzed Amelia, tried to burn Pedro (and you) alive, put you in jail for neglect of an elderly person but she gives a tip to the police and all's well?

Luis has worn me down on his attempts to be forgiven by Fer. Last night put the cap on it. He just wants a lil bit of love that's all. I mean if you can forgive that crazy aunt who knew about you, then can I get a little bit of love lol!

I binged watched yesterday so i agree Pedro looks better with Klepto...Amelia looked better with Luis in the flasback, Isabella needs to find Dr. Arteaga, and Javier and Malquerida are just too cute.

Mariana needs to die. She has paid for nothing. Even Hernan is rethinking forgiving her...I can't deal with her getting away with everything she has done down to rejecting Cami...bitch you can take a shower.

Thanks again Delilah for that funny recap.

Not to forget she did kill her father!

Delilah--
Each of your recaps surpasses the last. Where will you take us next? Every phrase, every snark, every image is finely crafted into a whole episode that I just don't want to have end.

Loved and LOL at just about everything, so adding to what David and Diana picked out, here's more, starting at the beginning with:

"We stir the refried beans to see our favorite heroine.." and "Well it’s not to borrow a cup of sugar dude, or maybe you were hoping she wanted to be numero tres? At least this wife could play you a tune!" Who, but you would have thought up those images.

"nutty professor, "limping like a linebacker off the field, "No that is not a typo. He’s a dud in my book!" and it just goes on and on.

David--I think Apolinar-o or -io or Apolonaro is his given name--probably refers to the god Apollo (Apolo in Spanish). OT: This has absolutely nothing to do with Apolinar, but I ran across this on Google, checking on Apolo. You might enjoy it. Kevin Bridges on Learning Spanish at the Apollo Live-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8eSwIACwK4

Diana--After all the murderous evil Luis has engaged in to get wealthy and stay wealthy, I just don't trust him to reform that quickly. He had the same gloating grin on his face while he was on the phone with Fernanda that he had when planning to eliminate Carlos. The only fleeting instant where he might have been exhibiting true feelings for me, was when Fer hung up the phone and he realized she really didn't want to have anything to do with him. But, maybe he was only sad because he couldn't claim a victory.

Jav did ask Maribel on a date? Diana, what I understood is that SHE thought it was a date. At any rate he would not tell her where he's taking her. If the writers are truly making us wait for him to make his move one way or another, they are succeeding. The scene immediately shifted to Javier and Malquerida at the market. I'm going out on a speculative limb and say he's found her kids and is going to take her there.

I agree that Fer is NOT thinking about others and what that inheritance can do for the people she loves who are struggling. Winning a mega-lottery has been proven to bring more trouble than it was worth when winners don't know how to handle sudden wealth. She may be afraid the money will change her. But she's got sharp business people around her to advise her--Ordonez & Marissa for a start, maybe Amelia and Hernan. What's wrong with endowing that little clinic so the doctors can have inside offices, pay for medicines in advance for their patients and get some better weight/measure scales, eh?

Diana, your voice of wisdom still comes through loud and clear, "In the real world, marriage is supposed to signify the ultimate in love and happiness. But all too often, love disintegrates and turns into anger, resentment and bitterness. This reverse love story proves that in the power and sheer force of love. It is a message of real hope." I had never thought of it as a reverse love story!

Also, "Money is only an issue when you do not have it." Of course Mariana is an exception. She had money (and luxuries) all her life and wasted the opportunities. Geesh, she's lived all her life rent-free, with food and all utilities paid, laundry, maid service, transportation paid, probably her wardrobe, jewelry--everything gratis. She still wanted it all. It seems to me that Don Fer left Hernan fairly well paid in his job. They could conceivably live off that comfortably. Many of us do.

Hello all! Thank you for the kind comments. I will be truly sad when this sweet treat is over.

David, I am going to assume Apolinar is a variant of the catholic bishop Apollinaris of Laodicea. Or it could be from greek mythology. As for the jail convo, Apolinar referred to his "Jefecita" (dimunitive of Jefa) did not have any dinero to pay his attorney and well he doesn't come for free. Louse said not my problem and Apolinar said yup it is, you said you'd get me out..so now it's your job. I will assume Apolinar's 'jefecita' is either his mom, or his woman.

I loved the suggestions for the various charities/orgs she could start up with the money! I still love Fer, but sometimes there's just a bit too much of Pedro and that's not a goood thing. I still can't stand him and he grates my nerves every time he opens his mouth.

Diana I wish I could have your outlook on Pedro and Amelia, but I just can't buy that after all the years of living with him and being annoyed and turned off by him, that suddenly she's so in love with him. Pedro is the one character that really hasn't shown any growth in my book. He has more land and a flower shop but hee's still a judgmental control freak stuck in his ways and in that same boring wardrobe.

Kendra, I think Fer is truly softening toward Louis. I'm not sure her standard for extending forgiveness but perhaps she feels she would be betraying Pedro and Carlos if she did extend some care/concern towards her bio Dad? Being put in jail for two years is pretty bad and it was personal attack to her. I think that would be hard to just get over from your own father. I think she sees Cami as a victim of Louse/Meanie and doesn't hold her completely responsible. Still to forgive Meanie and not at least try with Louse? I don't see her shutting him out completely or forever. I just don't want Pedro or Carlos standing in her way or fighting her on it. It has to be her own personal journey to Louis, and Pedro has controlled enough.

I'm really digging how Hernan has grown and softened, but at the same time is flexing his muscles with Meanie. The truth is she needs a strong man who can handle her. She doesn't respect anyone she can walk all over. She needs to be challenged and it seems Hernan is doing just that.

Kleptobelle has cute dimples but beyond that, I don't find her interesting. There's no spark or sparkle in her. She's a nice woman with a kind heart, but I don't see her giving Javier the fire or fun Mal could. Javier needs some spice in his life.

Ah what can I say about Swag O and Marissa. Two good and gracious people who have sown seeds of friendship that have stood the test of all kinds of weather. Now the garden is blooming into love! How perfect and one of my favorite couples. I need to see Swag O get sexalicious with Marissa before this Tn ends. Ive seen enough of Pedro/Amelia slobbering all over each other, it's SwagORissa time!

You know I wouldn't be surprised if Demonego does a Kody Brown and tries to get all of his sister wives together. HoLivia is just messed up enough that I could see her being the head Sista, organizing the share chart. That chica is certifiable.

When are we going to see BulimAdelina? It's sort of sad how no one mentions her or bothers to visit her.

Rosaura needs to be stripped of her head master duties. Two girls missing under her watch? Yeah law suits would be filed and her habit wearing hiney out the door at any other establishment. Plus what all girls school would hire hot Profs like him?

I enjoyed your recap Delilah. It wad fun and snarky. I had a whole typed out and then it disappeared. But thats ok, still A good recap. Fer is very anoying lately with her pridefull goodness. Shes sweet but I can just shake her sometimes.
But thats out fer she do the right thing. Even forgiving her louse of a bio dad. Which she will most likely do. Thats our
Fernanda, sweet little bobblehead that she is.
And how is she going to live off of what she makes? every time they show her and clocked out they're moving one planner from one Counter to the next they're not making any money, bless her poor little broke heart. She means well.

Now that loosey is free her sister brides need freedom from their wedded bliss. Sister rosey is gonna be doing repentance prayers for a loooooooong time to come. Should not hire a hot blooded teacher, male at an all girls school. NO!!!!

As Nina you're my kinda gal. I love your take on Fer. I too love her but sometimes her goodness is too much pie in the sky. The little bobble head..lmao! That comment made me chuckle.

I was trying to say every time they show her and kleptebell they're moving one plant from one Counter to the next Counter. I hate typos. But yall got it.

I wonder how much they are really taking in with that little flower shop. The boquets are never anything all that special.

"Camideville with perfect roots but tattered leather recognizes the cankles and looks up to see Mariana" It don't get much better Delilah!

Nina you are so right about Rosario and the girls school. Actually I'd sue the place closed. Not just Diego's employ but allowing older men around underage high school girls, girls cutting class to hang with adult men, anyone can stroll around campus unchallenged and adult men can show up and stay at the same hotel during a school sponsored vacation and unsupervised teen girls slip away or sneak into the men's room.

Whew, at least we know three of the many girls Diego locked away are still alive. Sick puppy for sure.

Tofie, I agree with every word. That school really did have some very unsavory things going on. If this were a real school and all the shenanigans/abductions brought to light, this would have the Catholic community in an uproar and would be one more thing to heap on its already struggling image. Priests with young boys, and we could add courtesy of Rosaura, Nuns/Holy mothers pimping out young female students to male professors. Ay ay ay! Dios mio. Did we ever see any female instructors?

Did Nina call Fer a bobblehead? LMAO!!!

This patio is too much...I'm always laughing. (((H)))

Heads up I am traveling on the 19th. Can anyone switch a day with me? I can do Mon/Tues or Wed. Sorry for the inconvenience. :/

Anita and Delilah, thank you for the information on the Apolinar character's given name. Anita, I watched the Kevin Bridges thing, but didn't get much out of it because it didn't have CC's, but it sounded like it was pretty funny. (I have to use CC's even on normal English language programs.)

Delilah, I can switch with you from my assigned date of Wed, Aug 17 to doing the recap for Aug 19.

David

Delilah, this was such a fun and detailed recap! Thank you.

"Reverse snobbery is not a good look on her." No, it is not, and Fer totally gets the judgey side from Pedro. I agree that she should take the money and do something good with it.

"Kleptobelle tells Fer that Javier has finally scraped the bottom and asked her for a date" - I laughed! It's the sad truth. C'mon Javier, snap up the Malquerida before the doctor does!

I agree with everyone that the school should be closed immediately. Rosaura is an incompetent administrator for all the reasons everyone stated.

Kendra--
"She can forgive Mariana for trying to kill her and her father? I'm confused. She cut brakes, killed a driver, paralyzed Amelia, tried to burn Pedro (and you) alive, put you in jail for neglect of an elderly person but she gives a tip to the police and all's well?"

I'm with you on the confused part. Fer certainly has an exaggerated view of a sense of balance for justice being served.

Mariana deserves to get something for everything she's done, whether pardoned by Amelia, Blanca, Fer, and Camila or showing real remorse. Nothing can equal two murder attempts against Fer and her family (ALTHOUGH FER DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT THE CAR ACCIDENT YET), murder attempt on Don Fer by withholding proper medicine, railroaded Fer into jail and her treatment of Camila.

We also have her early-on treatment of Amelia, by outing her pregnancy within Don Fer's hearing, thereby getting her thrown out of the house. Later trying to keep her from coming back to the hacienda, telling Amelia her father still had not forgiven her. (Thank goodness Blanca foiled that plot--even though we all laughed at her "makeover.")

Also, to add to the list, creating the false will.

Now I know where all her money went.

Mariana needs to pay for what shes done. A man is dead because of her, and herny knows about. Forgiveness is best when the whole truth is out. Warm and fuzzy feelings aren't good enough. If she'd shown some kind of remorse, but she didn't. Shes so pissed shes not makin any confessions anytime soon.

Great comment, Nina! You close out the post for this week. See you all over on the new page.
