Un Camino Hacia el Destino-Week 27 (Aug 23, 2016)
The story and characters have kept us interested (and minimally frustrated). The cast has been excellent and the direction has kept surprising us with unexpected twists and turns. There wasn’t much to snark at or make fun of. Most of all, one voice became many and now we have a tightly bonded community of dedicated followers.
Thank you all for joining me on this Camino. I think we are all going to miss our friends, the Perez, Gomez-Ruiz, and Altamirano families and by extension, their associates and enemies, too.
RECAPPING SCHEDULE
Week 27
#121-Tue 23 - Aleta
#122-Wed 24 - David
#123-Thu 25 - Kendra
#124-Fri 26 – Delilah
Week 28
#125-Mon 29-Anita, if you will allow me the privilege.
I'm sure we are in for a few surprises but hopefully, happy endings all the way around.
Anita, I thank you for single handedly starting this amazing line...I don't know if I have looked forward more to the episode or to the recap - all have been incredible.
I've been sad, happy, frustrated and yes, even angry but never bored. I've been hopeful and remain so now...
Let's hope that we can savor the joy for more than the last 5 minutes of the finale which seems to be the recent (unfortunate) trend...
Diana
Thank you lady Anita.
"#125-Mon 29-Anita, if you will allow me the privilege."
Are you kidding me? You have been the prime motive force, the guardian angel and the fairy godmother of this whole thing. By all means, treat us to one of your wonderful recaps for the finale!!
David
Anita, thank you so much. Yesterday during my lunch hour I decided to YouTube some of the scenes from the earliest episodes and I found myself going through your earliest recaps. You got the whole recap and discussion thing going singlehandedly and kept it rolling when so many others might have given up and I really appreciate all you did.
Part 1:
Luis’s hideaway: Alicia arrives and introduces herself to Fernanda, who is wearing a new yellow dress provided by Luis. Fernanda asks if Alicia is also being held against her will. Alicia replies, “No, and neither are you.” Alicia says that she knows how Fer feels, but she needs to see the situation in a different way. Fer asks Alicia is she’s one of the women to whom Luis has promised eternal love. Alicia says no, and that she thinks Luis is a good man.
Street scene: Malquerida is singing and dancing, wearing a traditional Mexican costume, a flouncy white dress with a black apron embroidered with big red roses, and swirling a red shawl. She begins to draw a crowd.
Luis’s hideaway: Alicia tells Fernanda that she’s seen a different side of Luis and that he’s just trying to win her over with patience. She says that if he had wanted to hurt Fer, he would have already done it.
Somewhere on a lazy green river: Carlos and Paco are kayaking, and just when we are wondering how Carlos can be out having fun while his fiancée and child have been kidnapped by a crazy person, Carlos has an answer for that. He brought Paco there to enjoy himself and forget about the family’s troubles. Surprise! Carlos wants to teach Paco to swim, but Paco wants nothing to do with that.
Luis’s hideaway: Luis is stewing and pacing. He says that he’s the worst of men, but he can be the best of fathers.
Lazy river: Carlos tries to convince Paco to get into the water and tries to entice him by telling him about the enchanting plants and animals that live underwater. He helps Paco into the water, and Paco wraps his legs around Carlos’s waist. The water is crystal clear and looks a little deep, too deep for Paco to stand up with his head out of the water.
Street scene: Quite a crowd has gathered. Malque is posing for selfies with her “public.” Mirabel, thinking that the police might get wind of this, pulls her away. Malque resists. She says she’s going to live every day as if it were her last day of freedom.
Lazy river: Carlos shows Paco how to hold his breath underwater, and he lets Paco ride on his back. (What kind of swimming lessons are these, Carlos? What about teaching Paco how to float first?) High fives and fist bumps!
Luis’s hideaway: Alicia tells Luis that the police are looking for him everywhere and will eventually start investigating the property where they’re staying, which happens to be the apartment that Luis bought for Andrea. Luis replies that he needs more time because he wants to convince Fernanda to go to Taiwan with him—not force her. He says that he would rather die than lose Fernanda again. (Perhaps you shouldn’t have put that thought out to the Universe, Luis.)
Street scene: Mail comes for Maribel. She smiles and get Malque to watch the flower stand while she runs off to meet Javier. At an outdoor café, she tells Javier about the letter from her ex. He will let her see the kids in Matamoros, which is just across the border from Texas. They’re expecting her tomorrow, so she has to leave today. Maribel is afraid that her impulse to steal things will come back. Javier thinks that she’ll be find. He’s very proud of her. She thanks him and leaves. Javier wishes her luck and smiles.
Luis’s hideaway: Luis tries to wake Fernanda. She’s feverish and feels bad. Disoriented, she calls out for Pedro. Luis runs out to get medicine.
Ruiz-Gómez mansion: Carlos also has nightmares. He’s dreaming of how Fernanda admonished him for not doing anything to find their child. Paco comes into the room and comforts him.
Luis’s hideaway: Luis puts a cold washcloth on Fernanda’s forehead, gives her medicine, and comforts her. Her fever drops.
Ruiz-Gómez mansion: Paco brings breakfast to Carlos so that he can regain his strength. Paco has a cute daydream, imagining himself helping a little-old-man version of Carlos, when Carlos is a “hundred and something.”
Luis’s hideaway: Fernanda awakens. Luis says that he didn’t bring the baby to her because they don’t know how contagious Fer is.
Pedro’s greenhouse: Pedro reminisces about raising Pedrito, and we see a flashback of him taking baby Pedrito for a ride on the tractor. Pedro cries.
Luis’s hideaway: Time passes. Luis tells Fernanda that he and Luisito (his name for Pedrito) are getting along great. He says that Fernanda can leave the apartment whenever she wants. Fernanda leaves Pedrito with the nanny so that she can run out and do some shopping.
Street market: Pedro is buying some flowerpots when Fernanda walks right by without seeing him. Pedro recognizes her and is so shocked that he drops the pot he’s holding. It shatters.
Outdoor café: Maribel has returned. She tells Javier that her ex wants her to come back. “What should I do?” she asks.
“Do you love him?” Javier asks.
“Of course I don’t love him.”
“Then why do you want to be with a man who let you down?”
“It’s not as simple as that. A lot has happened between us. He left me, he took the children, all those years I was in prison, the children barely know me … Should I accept his proposition?”
“A man who left you once will do it again.”
“Yes, after seeing him, I feel the same. (Not sure about my translation here.) But the children have a right to a home. I have to sacrifice for the children, right?”
Street market: Pedro approaches Fernanda. She backs up, telling Pedro that she has to go. “You look different,” Pedro says.
“I look happy,” Fernanda replies. (But we know that she’s also making a sacrifice for her child … parallel story arcs. Clever writers!)
“How can you be happy when you’re not with us, with your family?”
“I’m with my family, the only family I have.”
“That man is not your family!”
“Don’t badmouth my father!”
Fernanda runs off and Pedro cries.
Fer had her yellow dress on Monday and honestly, she looks like a banana in it to me. I'm so glad Luis made her ditch the ponytail though. Baby steps, style-wise.
"Perhaps you shouldn't have put that out to the Universe, Luis." Yeah, be careful how you phrase things in tns. Fer already has his headstone carved, so another funeral should be no big deal.
I think that Alicia told Fer that she could go out, but that she would be followed, and if Luis found out she was doing anything "wrong" (like going to the cops), she would never see Pedrito again. That is why she had such a frightened look as she was talking to Pedro.
Malquerida is still so much fun.
Thanks again, Aleta
David
And a big thank you to you Aleta for today and needed it since I missed the show last night.
And I want to thank Anita again for starting this and hanging with it and despite my fear and chicken little warnings of another La Toodle show this has turned out to be one of the best. It's not a Yo No or Grand Hotel but it's a good story, the casting was well thought out, the dialog is great and the actors have made me believe. I bet they will have a difficult time walking away at it's end too.
Anyway, so very typical for Carlos to go play, oh that boy.
Much as Pedro has agitated me he did worship the ground Fernanda walked for 19 years and raised a good child despite an emotionally unavailable mother and rogue of a father and little resources. It's mighty wicked of sunny side up Fernanda to gut Pedro knowing full well, from his perspective, his greatest fear has come true. Does she have no confidence in Pedro's ability to understand her dilemma if she slipped him a note with the truth? Would it really be the end if she was at least kind to the man?
Being watched.
Alicia is like somebody who's been drinkon strange coolade. Luis is really sick. Poor fer. She don't know what to Do. But she knows she has to protect her Baby from crazy grampa.
Carlos maybe didn't learn to swim by floating first. Paco has a strange
Imagination about Carlos, and hes always old on them.
OK thanks Aleta :-)
We start off with Pedro being brushed off by a terrified Fer. He tries to reason with her but she says she is with her real family now in order to get away from him. He is devastated.
Luis is trying to worm his way into Pedrito's good graces by smiling and encouraging in playing with his toys. Esther the nana is there too, and tells Luis it is time for Pedrito's bath. Luis says he will give him the bath, and Esther goes off to draw the water. Luis tells Pedrito that he enjoys his role as grandfather. He tells him that Fer is coming back because she is beginning to like him.
Fer is in the music school sawing away on her violin and making sounds that are grating on the teacher's ears. Fer says she has had some problems lately, and the teacher tells her everyone has problems, but she can't let them interfere with her practicing. She just isn't up to par. (Frankly I think she is getting worse;k I wonder why the teacher isn't astute enough, or interested enough to get to the bottom of it?)
Pedro is crying sitting on the floor of the shack when Amelia comes in and wants to know what's going on? He tells her that he ran into Fer on the street, and Luis has changed her. Pedro thinks that Luis is winning her over, but Amelia thinks there must be some other explanation.
Carlos is at The Tree wondering about Fer when Paco walks up and tells him he skipped school. Things can't go on like this the wise little man tells Carlos.
We are back in the music room again where the teacher continues to chew Fer out. Fer says she's got some problems once again, but the teacher still isn't interested, and tells Fer if there isn't some improvement, she doesn't want to waste any more time on her.
Amelia is still trying to get Pedro to come out of it when there is knock at the door, and Iggy and Marissa walk in. Pedro tells them that Fer is with Luis. Marissa wants to take a walk and talk to Pedro alone.
Paco and Carlos are fishing off of a bridge with some poles that Huch Finn would be ashamed to use. Paco says that the only thing they're likely to catch is a cold. Carlos gets a bite but loses it. Paco gives him some more homely wisdom.
Jay is counseling Maribel and advises against going back with her husband. She will just become his shadow again. She explains that her kids live in the U.S. and if she wants to see them she has few choices. Jay says he has other patients to see and stomps off.
Pedro and Marissa are walking through his greenhouse and farm area talking in generalities. She is happy to have Iggy in her life, but she feels like death is very close. In fact, the only thing that is keeping her going is so that she can get the opportunity to say goodbye to Fer and Pedrito.
David
Luis is asking Fer why her day went bad, and she says she couldn't do some of the exercises because of lack of practice. Luis says that's no problem, just practice more, and anyway we'll continue your education at an equivalent level when we get to Taiwan. Taiwan? Fer wants to know. Yes, Luis tells her. Well, when are we coming back, Fer wants to know. Never, says Luis. There's nothing for us here in Mexico anymore. Fer looks devastated.
I guess that somebody finally caught a fish, because Carlos has roasted it over a small fire and he and Paco are sharing it. Taco is surprised that Carlos knows how to do this stuff (I kinda am too) but then we get a flashback and find out that Fer taught him how. The fish that Fer caught in the flashback seems big enough to actually feed somebody, but the one Carlos has in the present looks like something the survivalists might catch on Naked and Afraid. Anyway, Carlos remembers Fer's great spirit and wisdom. She was a fighter, he tells Paco. What do mean "was" Paco wants to know. We gotta find her and Pedrito so we can be a family again.
Luis comes up behind Fer and asks her if she want s eat. Startled, she jumps up and tells him she doesn't want to eat, she doesn't wan to go to Taiwan, nor saying else he has planned. Luis wa so know if she wants him to spend the rest of his life in prison? They have to get out of here before they are separated. Fer gets a sick look on her face.
Luis is in the living room with Alicia telling her how well things are going. Fer may not actually like the idea of going to Taiwan now, but she will come around, and everything else is going great. Alicia the Cool Ade drinker thinks this is just wonderful. Meanwhile, Fer is in the bedroom humming "We Gotta Get Out of this Place" to herself. (Not really, just kidding.) She is torn up by what she is doing to her family, but sh's got to find a way out for her and Pedrito.
Carlos and Paco are walking home and discussing strategy. They decide they have to find Luis.
Luis is telling Fer how well this is going to go. He has everything planned so well. She can continue her musical education in Taiwan and be a success. He and Pedrito will be there at all her concerts. Fer has a flashback to how she treated Carlos as she was leaving the shack and looks sad.
Mariana is at the hacienda reading a book which has failed to catch her interest, so she throws it on the floor. Just then Camila walks in, and Mariana jumps on her. Camila explains that she just came by to check up on her and to make sure she has something to eat, then goes into the kitchen and comes back out scolding Mariana for not keeping it clean. You're going to wind up with cockroaches, she warns Mariana. Mariana flips out at this, but Camila tells her there aren't any yet, but there will be. Just then Flip shows up and wants to take Cam out for ice cream and a movie. Mariana belittles them, and they leave. And my food? asks Mariana as the two depart. When they're gone, she once again wonders how she is going to put up with this loneliness.
David
We're at the hacienda where Marissa is telling Carlos and Paco that Pedro saw Fer today, and of course Carlos flips out.
The next day Carlos is waiting for Fer as she arrives at school and confronts her. He begs her to tell him what's going on. She evades his questions as we see Luis' flunky using his smart phone to take a video of them. Fer assures Carlos that their son is okay, and begs him to believe in her. Under the circumstances, and with what he had thought of her in his flashbacks, "believe in me" should have been enough, but dipstick Carlos keeps grabbing her arm and pulling her back until she finally breaks free. We then see Luis' stooge sending him the video.
Back at the apartment, Luis and Alicia are viewing the video joyfully. Alicia's dress looks like it's made out of large scale graph paper. (Ladies, that will be my only comment on clothing tonight.) Luis tells Alicia that the only thing he lacks now is for Fer to tell him that she forgives him. He is beside himself with how well things are working out. Little does he know that. . .
Fer is in an empty hallway in the school, totally distraught, and asking Carlos for forgiveness, but asserting that her first duty is to protect their son.
At the estate, Marissa is having muscle aches, and generally is not doing very well, when Pedro arrives with a plant for a present. She is thrilled with it. The Iggy arrives and tells them that he has news, but they should wait for Amelia to arrive. When she finally does, Iggy goes into 007 mode and asks Amelia if she's sure she wasn't followed, and she assures him that she was not. What are you two hiding, asks Marissa.
At the hacienda, Mariana is clearly lonely, and remembers Blanca telling her to get back with her husband, when Camila arrives and Mariana actually smiles. I didn't know those facial muscles even worked anymore. She calls Camila worthless, and Camila just smiles. Camila once again tells Mariana that she and Hernan should get back together, but this time, Mariana hears something in Cam;s voice that implies that this might actually be possible, and is intrigued.
Well, it turns out that Iggy and Amelia have been doing some sleuthing without the benefit of a PI license, and have been checking on some properties owned by Luis, but the most important thing they have found is that they are all being followed. Pedro spouts off a lot of stuff, and winds up saying he wants to kill Luis. (Stand in line, Pedro.) Marissa, alarmed at how things are turning out says Luis is capable of anything, then begins to collapse.

David
"Luis’s hideaway" and "Lazy river" themes were my favorites.
The conversation between Fer and Pedro was heartbreaking - thank you for translating it so carefully.
It is clear - both to us and to Fer I believe that Luis will not harm her. But she must leave and go home to her family. I'm disappointed in Carlos. He should be moving heaven and earth to find her. Happy he took time to cheer up dear Paco but the love of his life is in trouble. Priorities Carlos. Still love him though.
Thanks again Aleta!
David, back shortly to read your recap.
Diana
Loved how you combined your excellent humor that enhanced and expanded our cannot look away storyline.
"The fish that Fer caught in the flashback seems big enough to actually feed somebody, but the one Carlos has in the present looks like something the survivalists might catch on Naked and Afraid. ." was my hands down favorite. Also enjoyed "Meanwhile, Fer is in the bedroom humming "We Gotta Get Out of this Place" to herself. (Not really, just kidding.)" and "Mariana actually smiles. I didn't know those facial muscles even worked anymore". Great...
“She just isn't up to par. (Frankly I think she is getting worse; I wonder why the teacher isn't astute enough, or interested enough to get to the bottom of it?)” The teacher perplexes me David. Initially, I thought she was being hard on Fernanda to force her to devote more time to her music. I didn’t think her expression last night was uncaring, just a touch bewildered. After yesterday’s performance, I couldn’t blame her a white for chastising Fer. Fer’s anguish has not contributed to more passionate playing but has had the opposite effect. There are missed, wrong notes that are off key and off kilter just like her life…
"She is happy to have Iggy in her life, but she feels like death is very close. Oh no. No. No". The writers have not erred throughout this winding story, please do not fail now. We need Marissa to survive. A happy ending for her is imperative.
“Things can't go on like this the wise little man tells Carlos”. Ahhh, Paco. Sweet child.
"Jay says he has other patients to see and stomps off". Hmmm. A bit uncharacteristic don’t you think? Our doctor’s lack of patience is palpable and disturbing.
My heart goes out to Carlos, Pedro and Amelia. At least they know they are being followed. Luis may be smirking now, thinking his plan will go without a hitch. That's fine with me. The element of surprise is a powerful one and he is in for a shock...
David, this was fantastic. Thank you!
Diana
Diana: Those dishes at the hacienda will have roaches & ugly stuff because they're not clean: GROSS.
Mariana could end up like a hermit before long!
To have her pass just as she is finding true love would be terrible.
Diana
Your statement, "That's fine with me. The element of surprise is a powerful one and he is in for a shock. . ." was great. Yeah, we are all hoping that something definitive, sudden, and unexpected happens to Luis to take him out of the picture, aren't we?
Like you, I am hoping some miracle cure can be found for Marissa. It would be such a shame to lose her caring beautiful presence.
I am amazed at how Rene Stickler's smile can convincingly convey warmth and love when he is playing that type of role, and on the other hand, utter evil when he is in this type of role.
Thank you again, Diana.
David
Classic tofie..."sunny side up Fernanda" - I'm in awe.
Diana
I said it before and I will say it again, that Paco is the only level headed person between him and his spoiled papa (still love Carlos) What do mean "was" Paco wants to know...I was thinking the same thing. Carlos speaking about Fer in the past tense was reckless. Snap out of it. Maybe it was a coping mechanism...but crazy nonetheless.
Dy, - I have been forgetting to mention that I totally agree with Fer's new do and clothes! (Thanks Luis for something.)
Luis is delusional. He is hearing what he wants to hear (kind of like listening to political candidates - everyone hears something different - ok my one and only reference) Then again, he may not be totally delusional (not completely anyway) I think Fer is breaking down her disgust of him, but she and her baby are being held prisoner and that is making her unhappy. I think she sees that he is really trying to gain her forgiveness through the most controlling demented abusive way (without physical harm just emotional)
This really has been a roller coaster ride.
Anita, I didn't realize that you have a 2 hour finale recap on Monday. But it only makes sense that you close us out.
Thanks again David...loved it.
Yes, Paco IS the only level headed person between the two of them.
Your characterization of delusional people only hearing what fits their mental template is so spot on.
Thank you for your kind words.
David
Poor Ordóñez! He's finally hooked up with the love of his life, and it looks like he's losing her. He deserves much more happiness and so does Marissa. Amelia and Mariana, not so much. I suppose I should break down and refer to Super Oh as Ignacio, since he's almost in the family now, but I have so much fun typing that ñ. Just kidding; I put his name into autotext so I only had to type it once.
So sad that our little Patio will soon be breaking up and moving on to various other TNs. I've enjoyed everyone's recaps and comments immensely.
On a side note, my Spanish teacher has given us a homework assignment of writing down all the Spanish words we know. I'm writing them in a composition book, 25 lines and 3 columns to a page...so I get 75 words to a page. Four pages = 300 words, so it's easy to add. I'm doing them just off the top of my head, not after reading anything because I can understand text much better than I can spit it out. So far I've written close to 900 words, almost 200 of them verbs. (I'm doing the verbs on separate pages.)
With this teeny-weeny vocabulary, I'm surprised that I was able to recap at all. My listing shows that I can't come up with simple everyday words like codo (elbow), but from the telenovelas, I've acquired such words as envenenar, arrepentirse, aprovechar, engañar, traicionar, estafadora, sucursal, and even cascabeles.
Are they a bad influence on me?
Yeah, I think Iggy might be getting shorted in his relationship with Marissa.
I don't know how many Spanish words I know, and I've never taken any classes. My hearing is bad, so I don't think I'll ever understand spoken tn Spanish (I do fairly well on some commercials).
Yes, I will be sorry to see our patio break up. It's been so nice getting to know all of you.
Thanks, Aleta.
David
"Naked and Afraid"
Knowing Paco is way wiser than his years doesn't hide the fact Carlos lives in a cloud and will weep out anyone's picnic.
What a weird sidekick Alicia's become. She watches a clandestine video taken by a goon on Luis's payroll yet convinced he's a good man. Luis and Diego must get the smoke they blow up these women's skirts from the same dealer.
I was so disappointed in Alicia. She seemed like such a propper, hard working woman when Luis had his office, and now she is buying into all of his demented crap.
Glad you enjoyed the recap.
David
Fer and Carlos were basically boxes of hair last night. It's almost like Fer didn't realize she was a kidnap victim until tonight. Thank goodness for Paco, Amelia and Iggy using their brain cells.
I cannot figure out Alicia at all. She and Luis do not seem romantically involved. He must be paying her very well.
I too am very, very worried about Marissa. Some people deserve an anvil, but she is not one by any means.
Only three more episodes but I'm so glad to hear the finale is two hours. I hope that means an untrimmed by Univision version. Last night, there was one edit between two scenes that seemed very "choppy" (Paco/Carlos and Carlos/Fer) and I wondered.
I think Alecia must be just as nutty as Luis. I don't think you could pay someone enough to do that. I still don't know if Luis plans to take her to Taiwan with him.
Did you notice that each of our scatterbrained people have someone to look after them? Carlos/Paco, Pedro/Amelia.
Loved your "boxes of hair."
Thank you so much for your thoughts.
David
David, I hope you haven't been affected by all the tornadoes tearing up your state.
Thought she could take the baby and run but Luis has people bought and paid for to do whatever he wants them to do.
So glad iggy had the fore thought to do some sluthing. Carlos is blessed to
Have found little paco. The kid is just brilliant. Carlos, not so much. He's more of a mama's boy with a grown up life. But he loves himself some fernanda.
Funny comparison to "naked and afraid"I don't get that show why the hell would anybody want to walk around in the jungle but naked with bugs and mosquitoes and bugs crawling in bad places. Oh my gosh. OK back to the tn.
I hope marissa don't leave us and the hot Love of her life. That would be so unfair. If someone has to die I vote
Luis. He's whacked out anyway. Whoever said this"Luis only hears and sees what he wants so true. There's some twisted psychological stuff going on with that man.
Mariana is........what? Confusing. Even to herself. I don't know what to say About her, except I Don't like her.
Cam is guite pretty and happy. Glad someone is in this mixed up mess. Well
Three more episodes and we're done.
I've enjoyed you guys. You're a joy to
Comment with. Little pedrito is the cutest little boy I've seen in a long time. Gonna miss him the most. I wonder if he'll pop up in another one.
Part I - some scenes combined.
We begin the Amelia, Pedro, Ignacio, and Marissa in Marissa’s home office discussing the fact that Luis is having everyone followed. Pedro is freaking out about Fer’s safety and they all conclude that Fer said all of those things because she is playing Luis’ game. At least they haven’t left the country. Marissa has another spell. Amelia wants to call Carlos, but Marissa doesn’t want to worry him and neither does Pedro. Iggy says #STFU Pedro. Pedro wants to get out of there and kill that wretched man and he manages to get away despite Amelia’s attempts to stop him.
Fer is at school attending all of her classes and having a good time with much nicer professors. She plays her violin for the teacher from hell and to her surprise gets applause from her. Her instructor tells her that she is actually showing emotion through her music instead of faking the emotion (I kind of felt the same way). Fer is reservedly pleased. She gives Fer her unsolicited advice to get a handle on her issues because she’s on Luis payroll too – I mean she knows more than Fer thinks she does.
Mal and 2 taller models look ridiculous filming the cleaning product commercial WTH! Isabella makes the mistake of telling Mal that the commercial is going nationwide tomorrow and her face will be plastered all over the place.
Pedro shows up at the bank looking for Carlos and Lupe is clueless as ever. She wants to know what’s going on (huh?) Pedro is grilling her and acting like that man who was put in the mental institute (has he been going to therapy or maybe Jav needs to make a house call. Your patient’s daughter is missing and you don’t think he needs tending to?) Anywho…Lupe actually decides to call Carlos on his cell (my thoughts when he got to the bank) when Paco shows up.
Luis is chuckling at Pedrito/Luisito for leaving a mess so he cleans it up. Fer arrives home (or Luis’ hideaway or the place she happens to sleep – I don’t know whatever) and Luis is excited to find out that she had a good day and that the strict teacher (that he paid to leave her alone) was nice today and she got an A on an assignment. He goes off to get the baby and Fer thought bubbles how much he is trying to win her affections. Luis is so proud of her. Even more so because she shooed away Carlos. Fer freaks out thinking that he has her followed but he corrects her and tells her that he trusts her it’s those scum people she called family that he is having followed. Of course, this pisses her off and he apologizes. He promises to remove the detail slowly.
In the editing room for the commercial, Mal runs in with sunglasses and a hat trying to stop the editing process from going through. She thinks her face shouldn’t show so much. They eventually kick her out after she tries to erase the commercial.
Now it’s Paco’s time to be grilled as if he was in an interrogation room by this lunatic about his father’s whereabouts. He lays a guilt trip on an 11 year old and gets him to tell him that Carlos is following Fer because she couldn’t talk to him while she was at school. It was Paco who realized that if Fer was carrying her violin when Pedro saw her then she might be still taking classes. Did I say lately how much I love this kid? I love him and lil P.
So of course, now that they know that Carlos is secretly watching Fer Lupe wants to call him on a phone that will ring because that’s what you do when someone is secretly following someone else – call them so that people are alerted to the fact that they are being followed. *eye roll*
Well what do you know at this very moment Carlos is standing outside of the apartment that he should have guessed Luis was staying at when his loud a** phone rings and Luis hears it. As he tries to silence it, Luis asks Fer if she betrayed him. She has no clue who that is and figures it must be a neighbor.
Luis opens the door and welcomes his neighbor, Carlos, into his family home. ;-) After Carlos comes in, Fer swears she has no idea how Carlos found them. Luis is all, “why you bothering my family” and Carlos is all, “they ain’t your family they are my family” and for the first time EVER Luis actually punches someone and Carlos goes down. Struggling ensues and Fer escapes with Pedrito.
Back at the bank, Pedro doesn’t know how to use the phone (not sure what the hell he is doing), but Paco – of course – who is smarter than a dumba** uses the phone to call Carlos but now the phone goes straight to voicemail.
More fighting at the hideaway and after Carlos thinks he has Luis down, Luis gets up and cold cocks him with a glass vase and Carlos drops like a sack of potatoes. I’m sure he got a concussion – he better get that checked out. Luis yells at him about that being his family and haul a**es out of there. Leaving Carlos in a daze.
At the Altamirano ranch - Mariana has let down her hair, put on a new dress, and some new shoes YEAH!!!! Camila comments on how beautiful she looks (she does look nice) and Mariana agrees. Mariana is more concerned with whether or not Hernan will get excited *wink wink* when he sees her. Cami assures her that he will. Cami also tells her that she wants her dad to be happy and that for better or worse she is the only mother that she knows and she doesn’t hate her.
Fer runs into the storage shed looking for her family and tries to call Carlos (I think), but she gets voicemail – funny how she doesn’t call the police. She runs out to look for Pedro at the nursery.
Pedro, still at the bank, gets Carlos on the phone and is shocked to hear whatever Carlos told him.
OMG – we are at this damn modeling school (don’t they know we have foot chases going on?) Mal and the other students are practicing walking. I guess that now that Isa is being nice to Mal and Mal is a celebrity that the others are now accepting of lil bits as they are giggling with her now instead of at her. Isabella comes to tell them when they become famous it’s because they will have studied at her awesome school which is the best in all of Mexico. And you can get you an awesome husband out of it too! Ain’t it great?
Fer runs back into the shed and Pedro appears and gets them out of there to hide.
In an unknown location, Luis is on the phone cursing that damn Carlos for interfering in his family’s life. He is sure that if the police come a knocking it will be because Carlos sent them not Fer. Luis needs to figure out where Pedro took Fer so that she can save him. (I’m not sure how she is supposed to accomplish that goal. You were convicted, sentenced, imprisoned, blew up the prison, escaped, kidnapped a baby, and held him for emotional ransom) – but okay. He continues to freak out about Fer’s whereabouts as he paces around.
Pedro hides Fer and lil P at the shop/home of the violin manufacturer who carved the new violin that he and Cami had made after her friends (umm friends don’t purposely destroy – not accidentally break – but demolish your violin. Those bitches were NOT her friends) He repeats the friend’s breaking her violin again and I’m annoyed. Fer is excited to be there and is sure Luis won’t find her there. Fer wants to call Carlos, but Pedro is selfish and wants her all to himself. Yeah the less people that know where she is the better, but damn she can call and say I’m ok. Fer asks for forgiveness for saying the awful things that she said to Pedro, but he understands why she did it. She loves him and he loves her back. She still feels awful, but he forgives her because he knows she was being manipulated. Pedro can only imagine the hell she went through with Luis…well…Fer says, “Luis” (hold up, what you mean Luis? What happened to ‘that man’) well I’m suffering from Munchausin’s and he was actually pretty decent to me and my kid. I was sick, he made me some soup and stayed up with me all night, bought me and the baby clothes, cooked for us – like really tried to be a good man to us…dad stuff. Aw hell naw! Why she tell him that? Pedro is up there freaking out getting jealous. Fer knows he does bad stuff, but I don’t hate him anymore.
Back at Marissa’s home – she is looking really bad. She’s worried about Carlos and doesn’t have the strength to do anything. (Poor Iggy) Super Oh says he will be her strength – awwww –just tell me what you need? Marissa says that she needs to close her eyes. AS I YELL TO THE TV NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Iggy tells her to do it and they will dream together (I swoon).
Mariana gets to Hernan’s office smiling (barely able to walk in that dress and shoes) and Hernan wants to know why she’s there. She gives him the run around but before she gets ready to tell him how she feels – nasty bitch takes over and she tells him to get someone to pick up the rest of his stuff or she will put it out for trash. He tells her she could have said that in a phone call (true dat). She runs out crying and tells Cami that she tried but then that bitch took over. She can’t help herself (she suffers from EBS – Evil Bitch Syndrome) and it’s an advanced case – stage 4.
In the saddest scene that they can ever deliver on this show…Marissa is having Iggy describe the dream that they are having. Iggy gives her blue waters, birds chirping, waterfalls, tranquility, and I’m over her screaming – STOP IT! He is explaining that they are having a beautiful life and nothing could ever separate them. They embrace and Marissa looks at him with tears in her eyes as she flashes to thoughts of her son and grandson. I’m freaking out!
DAMN…
First of all--David, thank you for the recap from yesterday. Thank you ever so much for stepping forward to recap at all. I hope you had fun and enjoyed it even when it seemed like a difficult task. You did it with grace and humor. Now I wish Camino would last longer just so we might delight in more of your refreshing statements of fact woven in with your eye for the incongruous or ridiculous. They so often left me laughing or at the very least doing eye rolls and nodding in agreement. (You are free to describe fashions anytime.)
Kendra--DAMN! Say it ain't so. It's your last recap. Masterful. I'm going to miss your witty prose and zingers directed at our characters who sometimes, I don't believe, act as though they don't even know they are in a telenovela. They should have rebelled rather than having to say and act the way they do at certain times. I'm certainly giving a lot of credit now to Paco and Iggy for keeping us who are watching sane. (Carlos have you learned nothing from other telenovelas? Never turn your back on someone you just slugged and stand there.)
Tomorrow I'll put up the last Front Page heading to carry us through the rest of the episodes. Noooo--I didn't know it was a 2-hr. finale. Dios Mio. I may decide to watch and write on Monday and post on Tuesday some time.
I was kind of chuckling that never-say-die Luis got the best of Carlos in that fight! Also that we have no idea if Carlos has waken up yet or not. It's not like Fer has gone to get him or told the police about it all.
I did not realize that Luis had paid off the violin teacher. I'm kind of disappointed if that's true. I liked that she was calling Fer on her stuff.
The Mariana/Camilla scenes were touching yesterday.
Marissa, NOOOOOO don't die!!!!!!!! Ugh I do not like where this appears to be heading.
I so enjoy the way you phrase things - "Fer is reservedly pleased" was perfect.
Your observations were very astute, particularly "Pedro is grilling her and acting like that man who was put in the mental institute (has he been going to therapy or maybe Jav needs to make a house call. Your patient’s daughter is missing and you don’t think he needs tending to?)". Excellent.
Cam has not atoned nearly enough for everything she did to Fer. But, incredibly, she is exhibiting the same forgiveness Fer showed her, to her not so endearing step mother. “Cami also tells her that she wants her dad to be happy and that for better or worse she is the only mother that she knows and she doesn’t hate her”. They may not earn Mariana mother of the year, but very generous words from Camila who finally seems to be growing up a bit.
"It was Paco who realized that if Fer was carrying her violin when Pedro saw her then she might be still taking classes. Did I say lately how much I love this kid?" I do too! I wish there was a spinoff. Paco spreads love, joy and happiness simply by being present.
"Marissa says that she needs to close her eyes. AS I YELL TO THE TV NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Iggy tells her to do it and they will dream together (I swoon)". Yes, their scenes were very intense. I refuse to believe Marissa will die. It just cannot happen.
I'm glad Fernanda got away - thank you Carlos. And we all learned a lesson. Unless we know someone is cold stone dead, never turn your back on them. That vase smashing looked like it really hurt.
dy, I had absolutely no idea that the teacher was paid off either. And yes, she was tough, but she didn't say anything that wasn't true. She was more than blunt, but...When Fer walked away, she was shaking her head in sympathy.
Now that Fer is safe, I'm not so much concerned with Luis' capture (which will likely occur), but am very worried about Marissa. I'm really afraid for her. Why would they have her lose the love of her life just as she finds him???
Kendra, thank you again.
Diana
Wow, busy week getting situated here in Orlando with the hubs and boy is it HOT! I finally was able to binge watch last night on Hulu (thank God for internet!).
I'm a bit off on the schedule for this tn...is the gran final tonight or Monday? I know it's two hours and I know you want to do the last recap Anita, so can someone clarify the schedule?
I'm still reading the recaps but wow..everyone! Great job and a huge thank you to everyone who has carried this TN. What a joy it has been to be alongside such a great group. (((H)))
I almost don't want to watch tonight (3 more eps Delilah - tonight and 2 Monday) because Marissa is freaking me out.
Thanks guys... I will really miss this tn and you guys as well (those of you hiding out too)
Thanks for the compliments as well.
Best of luck in getting situated. Stay cool!
I believe the finale is Monday. Anita's schedule (which I believe is posted at the top of this thread) has you recapping tonight and Anita doing the finale.
Diana
Poor Marissa, it's looking more and more like she is going miss the boda. So unfair!
Emilia, those storms went considerably north of us, and we actually had a very nice day.
Anita, thank you for your kind words. Recapping was pretty stressful for me and took an inordinate amount of time due to my poor Spanish skills, being hard of hearing, and a lousy typist. But I was glad to help out.
Well, Carlos demonstrated why infantry troops are trained to never turn their back on a downed enemy soldier unless you know they are dead. (If in doubt, shoot them again.)
Pedro is back to doing his Keystone Kops imitation, running all over the place with his wild gestures and wilder thoughts.
Delilah, what a change for you! Hope things go extra special well for you.
Thanks again, Kendra. I like your work.
David
Anita and Delilah have fun in your current spots...the lake sounds peaceful...Florida sounds like a lot of kids teeheehee!
"Now it’s Paco’s time to be grilled as if he was in an interrogation room by this lunatic"
Two things. Why oh why have Marissa on deaths door? And, Pedro is way worse than Luis. Pedro has whisked Fernanda away to a shotgun shack in the middle of nowhere, won't tell anyone, berate her about her biodad but there is no nanny for the kid.
I don't know if it's the heat, but I found myself feeling a bit of pity for Luis. He wants so bad to be a Dad and to be an abuelo. It's a shame he threw his chance away for greed, but he could have been told way before now. I still loathe Pedro, he's such a possessive immature punk. Everything is "mine, mine, mine" I really don't get what Amelia sees in him. I wish he was the one at deaths door.
Mariana really cracks me up. The character is baadd but so delicious. Malquerida better not go back to prison...she is just too much fun and a dear at her core. Kleptobelle is still wearing my nerves and if Javier drops his standards for her, then HE needs a shrink. She's a train wreck.
How funny that Paquito was the one to come up with the idea that they could find Fernanda by following her home from the music school! I thought Luis said that Carlos was being followed. Where were Luis's henchmen during the fight?
And during the fight, I couldn't help but laugh at Carlos's hair. Long hair on top + too much product = not a good 'do for an action hero.
When Fernanda fled the apartment with Pedrito, she didn't know the outcome of the fight. I think she should have called to find out whether Carlos was OK ... nevermind what Pedro says.
I found both the scene with Mariana and the scene with Marissa to be touching.
I wonder if Diego will show up on tonight's episode. We haven't see him or Lucero in a while.
Thanks again, Kendra.
It's upsetting me that they seem to be shaving off slices of scenes and cutting to the next scene abruptly. Univision has been doing this so consistently with other telenovelas, it's pathetic. I was hoping against hope that Camino would be different.
What will happen to Alicia the Stepford secretary?
Stella recap Kendra going to miss your Recaps thank you my dear.
