Yago #45 More cold blooded killing

I don't know how to make this any shorter, there is too much information I would be leaving out in order to do so.

We start with a flashback from Omar, he’s about 10, Jonas walks in on Omar in the midst of a huge mess in his workshop, yelling at Omar, how he could do such a thing. Omar denies culpability, but his father doesn’t believe his denials. They go outside, Jonas asks if it wasn’t Omar, who did it? Omar sees a smirking Lucio in the distance, but like a good friend, Omar takes the fall for him.
Yago is heard saying that there’s nothing worse than be accused of something you didn’t do. Poor Omar has had a lot of that in his life. And the latest is from Matias accusing Yago of killing Ambar. And just like when Jonas wouldn’t believe in the goodness of Omar and Omar’s denials, Jonas is repeating it with Yago, and told Yago to leave.

Well, even though Julia left her conversation with Katia in a huff, saying she didn’t want to have anything to do with Selma and Fidel, she now is taking the time to read the letter Selma wrote to her dead daughter Fabiana, the letter that  Katia snuck from Selma’s book and then gave to Julia. It says:

Dear Fabiana,
These are words that I never thought I would have to write because you would have heard them, because these are words that i would have told you every day of your life.
I love you daughter. I loved you the moment that I knew you were coming into the world. I waited impatiently for the 9 months you were inside of me, and when I finally met you, I  knew there would not be a more profound love than the love I felt for you.
I can’t even begin to describe the pain I feel living without you. I should have been the one to die, and you should be here. If life were fair, if God exists, then it should have been that way instead.
Your mommy has to say goodbye to you, but I will always continue loving you.

Bawling ensues, and Julia is crying too.

Camilo is in his greenhouse reading the report that Tomas gave him about Abel and Julia and their whereabouts. He tells Tomas to report to Lucio, he’s to be Lucio’s new assistant. Tomas doesn’t understand, is it a joke? No, just damage control. Camilo has had too many problems with Tomas, and he wants him to work with Lucio instead. Camilo said that Tomas made him lose one of his biggest investors. As Tomas tries to defend himself, Camilo cuts him off, telling him he’s lucky he still has a job, and Lucio was the one who saved the situation. Now Tomas will report to Lucio, and Lucio will report to Camilo.
Tomas is livid. He reminds Camilo that he knows a lot of things about him. Camilo reminds Tomas that any one of his orchids can be named after him. (Reminder: Camilo names his orchids after people who end up dead later on)
I think Yago is going to have a new right hand man now.

Yago is busy losing his sh*t over his new accusations from Matias, and Katia has the unfortunate job of trying to console him. It doesn’t work, and Yago goes off to prove to Matias that he didn’t kill Ambar.

Back at the casino, Lucio is making the rounds saying hello and good luck to the patrons. He tells a bartender to make a drink for you-know-who. (I don’t know who that is). Camilo walks in and hands Lucio a gift. Ok, correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like a fancy pen. Camilo said only 10 exist like it in the world. It’s a gift for recouping Becker as an investor again. And one more gift, Tomas will be his new assistant. Camilo hopes that these new gifts will help Lucio get over his issues regarding Sara. They shake on it.
Just then, Camilo gets a text. Change in plans, they go off.

Bruno tells Matias that his driver is there to take him home. But before he goes, Bruno wants to know why Matias thinks that Yago killed Ambar. Lucio told him, and his dad never lies. (Insert laughing emoji here)

Yago’s first stop is to talk with Sara. How could she let Matias think that he killed Ambar? Doesn’t she realize the damage she’s caused? Sara is totally confused. Why does Yago care so much what Matias thinks? Because he’s a kid and she’s filling his head with lies. She says it’s the truth. He insists that he didn’t kill her. And he will prove he didn’t, for no other reason than he doesn’t want Matias thinking he did. Sara still doesn’t believe a word that comes out of Yago’s mouth, but she is willing to hear Fidel's version of events.

Hernan gets into Tomas’s car and hands him Melina’s phone. Tomas tells Hernan that it’s best that the boss doesn’t know about the phone yet. He wants to keep it and use it as life insurance. That despite everything we have done for him, he’s very likely going to fire them. Hernan says that Camilo was already given the phone calls and text data from that phone. Tomas tells him that all that did was make Lucio and Sara richer, and he and Hernan will still be out. Tomas wants him and Hernan to find a new boss, a new job. They are a team, practically family, and then we get the flashback from when Tomas adopted Hernan and gave him his signature red Converse shoes.  Hernan said he’d think about it.

Meanwhile, Lucio and Camilo are looking over the phone logs. They notice that the only calls are to Yago. Since when did they have a secret relationship? They need to investigate that. Lucio realizes that that explains why Melina’s attitude toward Lucio had changed so much. Camilo now knows that Melina is another avenue for exploitation of Yago. Lucio doesn’t want anything to happen to Melina, but Camilo said he is not to worry about the old blind lady, they will get the info they need without hurting her. But Lucio knows what Camilo is capable of, and doesn’t believe him.

Tomas comes to Ambar, the bar, and makes Katia jump 3 feet high. He tells her he comes in peace. He’s come to talk with Yago, but Yago isn’t there. Tomas tells her that it’s important, Yago offered him a job, and he’s ready to take it. He’ll collaborate with him in exchange for protection and a good salary. And Tomas will tell him everything he knows about Camilo. Katia will pass on the message.

Matias asks if his dad is capable of killing someone. Lucio is horrified, why would he ask that? Because Matias wants him to kill Yago. So even though Lucio told Matias that Yago is a killer, and he killed his beloved aunt, Lucio doesn’t want Matias to just think he can go around killing people willy nilly. He needs to let the law handle justice. What law, asks Matias, his dad was put in jail unfairly, and his aunt died without her killer going to jail.

Camilo is briefing Hernan. Hernan wants to know what to do about Melina, and Camilo said he’ll deal with her later. But Camilo wants to know about Tomas. Hernan said he was right. Tomas is worried that Camilo will fire him and that they together should look for a new alliance. Hernan made Tomas believe that he was on his side. He tells Camilo that Tomas was going to see Yago Vila. Hernan asks if he should take care of the new problem named Tomas.

Yago is bringing a blindfolded Sara to Fidel’s lair. Fidel is surprised to see her. Yago explains why he brought her there. Fidel takes the blindfold off, and asks what she wants to know. She tells him that she wants to know what happened to Ambar. He sits Sara down and proceeds to try to strangle her, saying curiosity killed the cat, lol!
Why did Yago bring the enemy to his house? Because Yago wants to prove his innocence.
Fidel wants to know what side he’s on, Sara’s or his? Yago said that he can’t believe he even asked that, so Fidel hold a knife to her throat, causing it to bleed, and tells Yago that he wouldn’t mind then sending Camilo a little gift, a dead Sara.

Julia is now a wreck, and she came to Abel’s house to cry on his shoulder. She always thought that her mother died in childbirth. She never knew her so she never missed her. And she never knew that she had her so nearby instead, missing her too, suffering her death that never happened. Abel says that he knows she’s missed having a mother, but is she really ready to trust Selma and Fidel after knowing everything she knows about them? They are mafiosos, and Selma may have written that letter to manipulate her. Poor Julia doesn’t know what to believe. Abel says she can believe in him, and he does his signature ‘hand on her face’ move.

Yago and Fidel at battling over Sara’s fate. Just then Teo and Katia come in and Fidel tells Teo to take charge of Yago. Yago says that if one more drop of blood happens, everything that he worked for, everything he’s invested in so far will be in vain because Camilo will not be paying for what he’s done. Fidel takes the knife away and tells Yago to take Sara and leave. Fidel doesn’t want to see Yago ever again. (Hmmm, I wonder if this another trick.)

As Lucio is trying to get his angry son off to bed, Camilo calls and tells him to get his butt to the casino immediately. Lucio said he can’t, he’s with Matias, but that doesn’t matter to Camilo. No excuses, get there now.

Abel shares with Julia his painful family story of how his family all turned against him, telling the story that we already know. Julia gets up to go to the bathroom, and as she grabs her purse, she sees a fancy pen, just like the one that Camilo gave Lucio. She asks about it, but soon leaves, she realizes that Abel is working for Camilo.
Lucio comes into Camilo’s office and runs into Hernan. Hernan said they’ve been waiting for him. He tells him that Camilo has given him the honor of the first hit. Lucio looks around and sees Tomas sitting in a chair. Hernan hands Lucio a bat. Lucio has a look of incredulity on him, what kind of psycho team did he sign up for?

Fidel can’t believe what a traitor Yago is, putting them all in danger like he did. But Selma lets Fidel have it. What kind of cynical man is he? She can’t believe that he expects Yago to act as a machine and not have any human emotions, that he expected Yago to be ok with him killing the mother of his own child. She stomps out.

Lucio said he’s not going to do that. Hernan reminds him that Tomas is the one who kidnapped his son, traumatized him. Lucio still insists he’s not going to participate, but Hernan keeps the pressure up, telling him to do it, his boss wants him to do it. And Lucio, who is nothing if not a weak man, gets talked into it, and kills Tomas with a bat, hit after hit after hit. I’ll guarantee there’s video camera recording the entire thing.

In fact, there is Camilo, watching the entire episode on a screen. He declare; good and bad don’t exist, the only thing that exists is power, and he who knows how to exercise it, achieves it. The powerful know how to take someones fear, and exploit it. We then get to review the grisly scene once again when Camilo had 2 of his men get killed from the rooftop.

Poor Melina is very upset about what happened with Matias and Yago, but Jonas doesn’t understand why it’s upset her this much. To Jonas, they hardly know Yago, it seems odd that Melina would be this bothered by it.

Fidel is now arguing with Teo. He wants Teo to stop defending Yago. Yago is now off the team, and they need a replacement for him. Teo is no longer going to work at the bar, he no longer is to have anything to do with Yago.

As Yago and Katia walk into his house, there lies dead Tomas, a present from Camilo.
Katia knows that this happened right after he came by looking to align himself with Yago. She wants to know how Camilo knew this was happening. Just then Katia gets a text, probably from Teo, telling her that Fidel said they are now no longer under Fidel’s protection.

Abel comes by the casino and asks Lucio what’s wrong. Lucio, obviously altered, denies anything is wrong. As Abel leaves, Lucio remembers to tell Abel that Camilo wants to meet with Abel and Hernan. Abel asks about Tomas, but Lucio tells him that Tomas doesn’t work for them anymore.

The next day, Hernan brings Melina flowers and invites her to an event at the orphanage. The event is today though, he knows it’s short notice, but Pepe was talking about how wonderful Melina is, that they thought she would like an invitation. She agrees and goes to get her things as Hernan crushes her new flowers.

Sara makes an uninvited visit to Camilo. She tells him that he’s told her that she can trust him to tell the truth, correct? She wants to know what the significance of the gold coin is. He asks, ‘you were with Yanpolski, weren’t you?’ She pulls the scarf from her neck to show him the scab from the knife at her throat and says ‘This proves that I was.’

The end.

Looking forward to it Cathyx :)

Oh yay Cathx :)
I haven't seen it yet, I'm on vacation this week and don't expect to be online much (but I'll be around to do my recap on Thursday).

I want to clarify something in last week's episode. The Guerrero family's donation wasn't thrown in the trash. It sort of looked like it, because it was being tossed into a large bin. However, if you looked carefully, there were lots of large bins there, full of things that looked like toys and whatnot. Not trash. It looked like a donation processing center to me.

The nun from the orphanage had told Melina that Hernan had been helping them out with donations and such - so apparently he has a decent track record with them for delivering the goods.

Recap is up now.

thank you cathyx, much

Thank you Cathyx!

My reaction of Tomas getting whacked: GOODBYE TOMAS! You knew the risks & consequences of crossing Daddy Michell!

He's now the 20th Victim in the Body Count.

I'm not surprised that Fidel kicked off Yago from Team Avengers!

Thanks Cathyx! This episode was crazy. Here Yago was trying to break up Camilo and Tomas and at the same time he breaks up his relationship with Fidel.

Melina is in so much danger. Hernan is a machine. No feelings for anyone, Tomas is proof of that.

Hernan was raised that way on purpose. They wanted a killing machine that had no emotional involvement with his victims.

Wow, 20 so far? Is that for real?

Yep! Expect more this week.

Cathyx: Melina & the Guerrero's still in danger. I'm not liking this at all!

Thanks so much, Cathyx! I just watched the episode. OMG! Again Melina is in danger! These writers want to give me a heart attack.

Well, Tomas, "cria cuervos, te sacaran ojos" (raise crows and they'll pluck your eyes out). He should have known better than to confide in the killing machine he helped raised.

Lucio sinks further. Again, he's learning just what kind of devil's bargain he signed when he joined Team Camilo.

I don't think this split between Fidel and Yago is permanent. Seems more like Fidel is having a tantrum, but I think Selma can eventually get him to come around.

Very glad Julia realized Abel was on Camilo's payroll. Still doesn't make her choices about how to deal with her bio-parents and Camilo any easier, but at least it takes away one element of artificial manipulation.

Vivi: What's the old saying, be careful what you wish for in feeding the mobster (Hernan) until it turns on you.

Tomas should've known better!

I meant to say monster.

cathyx,

Thanks. This recap is great. Good job.

Vivi,

Even though you disagree, I still think that there is a plot parallel between Yago's and Hernán's stories. Both were abandoned by those who loved them (although at significantly different ages) and were rescued by evil men whose motives were the same... to cultivate them as instruments of destruction. Fidel demonstrated this in this episode by demanding that Yago kill Sara.

I was surprised that Hernán's allegiance to Tomás was so tenuous. Yikes!

Abel almost got that cigarette lit but once again it was no go.

I actually felt sorry for Lucio. He really is something of a victim.

Carlos

Carlos: You feel sorry for Lucio ?

Roflol. This man destroyed Omar's life & also (along with Sara & Abel) got super wealthy off of stealing 12 years from the man's life after framing him for the security guard's death & now framing Yago for Ambar's death.

Vivi: My Body Count list has 20!

Thanks to all the recappers for your efforts. I am usually behind and so do not comment but I love reading the recaps and.comments
When we met Hernan as a child we were shown he does not feel physical pain and were told he does not feel emotions either
Mely

" Lucio told him, and his dad never lies. (Insert laughing emoji here)"

So right, CathyX. This episode was unbearable to watch. Seeing Mathias suffer, believing lies about others, Yago as well, being lied about, Julia, feeling the searing pain of being separated from a mother who longed for her all these years....all emotional suffering.

And then the bloody brutal physical suffering of Tomas' slaughter.

It made me think of those hunters who club to death baby seals.

We have so much potential violence in our nature, but to see it unleashed like that on the screen really made me sick. And also understand why Univision relegated this riveting story to Unimás.

Don't get me wrong. I still can't pull myself away from this. Horrifying and dread-inducing as it is.

And yes, Carlos. I understand your reaction. Lucio has done many many wretched things in his life. But he has never killed anyone. Not physically anyway. Not directly. To be cornered into this brutal, bloody slaughter will probably unhinge him completely. He's as trapped and doomed as all the other victims in this story.

Judy B: In the meantime, Daddy Michell is always multiple steps ahead of everyone else!

Thanks, Cathyx. Great job. Loved Bawling ensues, and Julia is crying too.

I don’t blame Fidel for being so annoyed with Yago for bringing a blindfolded Sara to his hideout. Yago is such a doofus for bringing her there. So Yago expected Fidel to say “nope, we didn’t kill Ambar” and Sara would simply believe it and be on her way? Dumb, but he so cares what Sara (not just Matias) thinks of him. Okay, Fidel breaking the skin on Sara’s neck with the knife was a bit much.

Lucio and Abel. Those two are so doomed. They never learn from the past. Anybody working for Camilo, who apparently has no retirement plan (just an expiration plan) for his employees, is nuts. I do wonder what makes Hernán tick though. He cares about red sneakers and he’s doing volunteer work at the orphanage (yikes, he’s probably training new kids to be hit men!).

Yay, Julia is on to Abel.

Gracias Cathy

There is a big difference between Hernan and Omar/Yago. Hernan had no happy childhood. He ended up orphaned and got "raised" by Tomas. It's very easy to brainwash someone when they have nothing to look forward to. Omar had the best possible parents one could have thus he raised a moral code. It's hard for someone like Fidel to brainwash someone with a positive upbringing. The whole point of Omar's life was family, friends and Sara. These feelings wouldn't just dissapear with a face change.

Hernan's only positive moment that we saw was when he first met Tomas at the orphanage. When Tomas starred spinning the story to the Madre Superiora, Hernan was probably happy that someone was looking out for him and his future. But the bubbleworld popped when Tomas took him out for "target practice" .
