Yago #50: Ticking Time Bomb

Ticking Time Bomb-- Poem by Jaquay Atkins
With an arrow through my heart, you poisoned my soul
Toxic fumes run rampant
Appalled at your conniving actions;
Body is numb, icicles for fingers
Crying inside
My mind has become a ticking time bomb
The explosion is bound to be epic

Flashback: Lucio takes a very young Matias to his first horse riding (equitación) lesson. Matias is worried about falling off the horse and prefers to go to Jonas’ house to learn carpentry. Lucio tells him they will go afterwards. He tries to alleviate Matias’ fears about the horse, and tells Matias that he always wanted to be a horseman (jinete) when he was a kid. He tells Matias that horses need their love and care, and can be good friends. Voiceover: “If there was anything I learned from my parents when they stopped caring for me, it was that blood ties aren’t enough to unite a family.”

Present Day: Lucio goes into Mati’s room, picks up a picture of Matias on his horse, hugs it to his body, and begins to cry. Voiceover: “I thought that my love for Matias would be enough to have him with me for always. Now, I know that even the strongest love is powerless against the whims of destiny.”

-Damian tells Sara that Camilo killed Ambar and plays the recording for her. Then he shows her the 20 million peso check that proves just how much Camilo would pay to keep this secret.

-Meanwhile, in another part of town, lonely Lucio goes to see Abel, and offers that the two of them unite against the world. Abel instead once again offers an allegiance with Fidel’s team. Lucio accepts and Abel takes him to Fidel’s lair blindfolded. Selma and Fidel are outraged, but then Fidel says he’ll consider it.

-Sara immediately panics about the bomb that is set to go off in Bar Ambar. She calls Yago, who refuses to answer her calls. She rushes off to the bar to warn him in person, and Damian follows her.

-Camilo gloats to an old photo of him and Fidel that he's taking a son (Yago) from him, in payment for the daughter (Julia) Fidel took from him. (That's all kinds of crazy and mixed up, considering Camilo killed two of Fidel's kids and kidnapped the other!) Camilo’s men abduct Julia on her way to work, and take her to meet with him in his locked car. Julia is beyond ticked off.  Camilo swears his love for her, points out that he raised her well, to be a good person, and says that Fidel is no better than he is. This doesn’t absolve him of killing Ambar, kidnapping her (Julia), and lying to her her whole life, she points out. Camilo has no response to these accurate accusations.

-Sara and Damian arrive at the bar and she hurriedly tells Yago about the bomb. He doesn’t really believe her, until he tries to open one of the emergency exits and finds that it is sealed shut from the outside. Camilo’s men barricaded and sealed all the exits as soon as Sara and Damian entered. Panic ensues among the bar patrons (including an annoyingly inquisitive Ximena) as Teo, Katia and Yago try to find a way out for them all. The panic rises to new levels when a patron hears Katia tell Fidel over the phone that there’s a bomb in the bar, and the patron quickly spreads the news. A stampede ensues.

-Sara calls Camilo to tell him she’s in the bar and he needs to stop the bomb. He promises her he will order the doors opened, but then does NOTHING. Julia listens in on the conversation, and her disgust and disappointment in Camilo sinks to a new low. He begs her forgiveness, but only lets her out of the car when he knows it’s too late for her to get to the bar in time to get hurt.

- Damian is once again doing something useful (!), going through the boxes of wine, one-by-one, searching for the bomb.

-Fidel learns his men who were protecting the bar were killed by Camilo’s men. He sends another crew over and they open the main doors. Katia, Teo and Yago usher everyone out. Sara goes back into the bar's office to get Damian. He finally finds the box with the bomb, and he and Sara see they have five seconds and no way to escape before the bomb goes off. Instinctively, Damian wraps himself around Sara and protects her from the impact of the bomb blast.

-Yago runs back into the inferno for Sara and finds her unconscious, but unburnt, body underneath a very dead Damian. "Sara, please don't leave me again!" He cries over her, tells her he loves her, admits to being Omar, and then carries her out, just before another explosion rips through the bar. Julia, Fidel and Selma all arrive before the second blast and Julia allows the two of them to hug her in their relief that she’s safe.

-Weeks later…we learn Sara survived but has been in the hospital the last few weeks, and has just checked herself out. Bar Ambar has started renovations. Camilo is sadly sending floral arrangements somewhere we aren't privy to.

-Julia doesn’t want to rely on others for protection anymore and has Abel give her shooting lessons. She wants to know who taught him to shoot. He doesn't want to talk about it. He asks about the current status of her relationship with her father-- Camilo. She has hope there is a spark of humanity in him since he regrets the bombing incident. Abel points out that Fidel is a much better person than Camilo. Julia points out that Abel isn't as bad of a person as he thinks. She kisses him.

-Yago admits to Katia that he told Sara his real identity when he rescued her. He doesn’t know if she was conscious or not, and he’s worried she heard him. Katia says that if she had heard, she surely would have told Lucio and Camilo by now and they’d know about it.

-The news announces that the body of the person who died in Bar Ambar has finally been positively identified as Damian. Bruno gets agitated, and Melina tries to calm him down and vouch for Yago. What was Damian doing with Yago?! Why do all roads (and deaths) lead to Yago?!...Alejandra, Ambar, Damian. Bruno goes directly to Yago to demand answers. Yago tells him that he’s not the bad guy, but instead he’s the pebble in the shoes of the bad mafiosos who have hurt all these people. He tells Bruno to at least enjoy the poetic justice of Ale’s murderer, Damian, now being dead. Bruno says this is NOT the way he wanted justice.

-Sara’s first stop after the hospital is Camilo’s house to retrieve Matias. She lets Camilo know she’s ticked off at him for not stopping the bomb-- his apologies don't cut it. She doesn’t reveal that she knows he killed Ambar. She takes Matias home to a very happy Lucio, and says she’s staying too. Lucio apologizes to them both for his behavior.

-Later Sara asks Lucio if he had anything to do with the bombing. She tells him about Camilo killing Ambar and he admits he’s the one who told Damian, right after learning about it himself. He was going to tell her, when he found her with Camilo (liar!). She then tells him she saw the video of him killing Tomas. He plays up his paternal anger over Tomas kidnapping Matias being the cause of him murdering Tomas, then admits how hard it’s been to cope with.  He swears he would do anything to protect her and their family.

-Matias speaks to Lucio about how bad he feels about having cussed out his now dead grandpa. Lucio says he feels badly too. But in all honesty, Damian wasn't a very good grandpa. Matias looks up and wonders if Damian can hear them. (Wrong direction, kid.) Lucio reassures him that the two of them won't be separated. He also tells Matias that (despite all their drama) he'll always love Sara. Adults make mistakes, but it doesn't mean they'll stop being a family. He pulls Matias into a cuddle, and says, "I'll make sure that we'll always be together. Always."

-Melina has Bruno clip a picture of Yago from the newspaper in order to read his cards. Bruno knows her deep concern for Yago has something behind it, that she's not telling him.

-Sara visits Damian’s grave to tell him how much she hated him for all he did to her, but to also thank him for saving her life. She says they’re even now (estamos a mano). She wishes him to rest in peace.

-Fidel and Abel suggest to the team that they use Lucio as a double agent to bring down Camilo. Abel says Lucio is trying to find a way to get out from under Camilo's (green) thumb.  Yago refuses to bring Lucio onto the team, and points out how untrustworthy he is.

-Sara calls Yago and has him meet her in Omar’s cabin. She tells him she now knows Camilo killed Ambar and Yago was telling her the truth. He thanks her for saving him and everyone from the bomb. She thanks him for pulling her out. He admits that she's still important to him. She reciprocates: “You’ll always be important to me, Omar.”

End of episode.

WOW!

1.) Abel bringing Lucio to the Avengers was very STUPID move on his part, this is going to backfire on him down the road.

2.) Daddy Dearest becomes the 24th victim in the Body Count by getting blown up in Club Ambar.

3.) Daddy Michell kidnapping Julia & justifying his evil deeds.

4.) Ximena: Still don't like you!

5.) Did Sara just do a MIC DROP on Yago ?

Thanks Vivi! I loved that poem , it fits nicely into this wicked episode.

Holy crap what?! Damian the cockroach actually did useful and great things? This episode must be a dream in Yago's head. But even if Damain did what he did to protect his puppet. He enjoys manipulating people and the benefits that go with it. Atleast he got karmic justice at last. Sara's speech about him was funny . Rest in Hell Damian. I feel bad for El Diablo now. I doubt he could support his presense for long as Damian would try to scam him too.

Yago was being an freaking idiot when he told Sara his identity. He can't control his emotional states. I can't really buy into the facade of a coolheaded, tactical and clever Avenger. Now that Sara knows his identity, how will Yago react? Will he run into her embrace of manipulate her further. He has some shades of Omar but he is nothing like him at all.

Sara should have left Mat at Dona Chela and not with Lucio. But honestly Matias is not safe anywhere now, not even at Melina's. I admit though that the flashbacks of Lucio&Mat were very sad. Matia's memoir of Damian was also funny. Mat was sad about his death but Lucio said "Oh, he wasn't such a good grandpa, was he?". Understatement of the year!

Camilo is a lunatic and dangereous but I can't help to laugh at his attempts to charm Julia back. They had a very strong bond before the bubble popped. I also Lol'd when Fidel was the first one to hug Julia at the bomb scene and she seemed to reciprociate it.

I've got to hand it to the writers. I would have never guessed that the bar bombing would go down like it did. Sara and Damian, the heroes!

If Fidel and Team are looking for a double agent with Camilo, Sara is now a way better candidate than Lucio is. She was smart enough not to tell him she knows he killed Ambar. She could always pretend to still be interested in being his mujer, and that she accepts his (lame) excuses about not stopping the bomb. Yago is right about Lucio not being a good candidate for a double agent. Considering he is still desperate to hide his role in Ambar's death, it's a good bet that he would reveal his double agent status to Camilo to play both sides against the other and come out unscathed.

Thanks, Vivi. These "bullet points" seem pretty thorough to me. I watched this morning too, and have been waiting all day to talk about it!

Damian did something unselfish?? I still can't believe it. So I guess that was the point of the recent flashback where Damian told us that Sara was his favorite, because otherwise I wouldn't have bought his eleventh-hour heroism at all.

I don't think Lucio is a reliable prospect for a double-agent - but he might serve as a good dupe. They could feed him false information to mislead Camilo. I wouldn't trust him for anything else.

Julie: Sara still has no idea that Lucio was the one, who served up Ambar!

Daddy Dearest got his KARMA!

I think Damian always showed how much he admired Sara. She was his perfect creation, created in his image-- a con artist who was good at the game and enjoyed it. He was never more angry/put out than when she would turn her back on him and the game. He was never happier than when they were scamming together, or when he saw her making a huge score by scamming someone.

Julie- Yes, Lucio would be perfect as a dupe. Let him THINK he's a double agent, and then feed him false info.

As for the bullet points, this episode was so heavy on the action and light on conversation, that I'm tempted to leave it as is. Maybe I'll add whatever was in Lucio's voiceover with his flashback, and his later conversation with Matias. Other than that, I can't think of any other conversations that need more detail. You guys tell me though if there's a scene you want detailed.

Vivi, I can't even remember anything else besides the flashback. If you have a few more little details still in your notes you can always add them, but that's all.

I didn't take any notes-- just did the bullets from memory. I'll take another ffwd look at the episode to see if anything jumps out.

A wild theory came to mind about Ximena, and I'm sure I'm wrong. (The writers don't like my crazy theories.) Considering that she was in the bar and about to be blown to bits, I really don't think she works for Camilo. But what if Bruno sent her there to investigate Yago? She could be a friend of Bruno and Ale, and wants to help Bruno. Or maybe she's just a red herring, and just an annoying artist with whom Yago unwisely chose to blow off steam.

Thanks for the great recap! Another exciting episode.

Jail did Damian well. Not only did he get th truth from Camilo on tape, gave the check to Sara! Then went looking for bomb and saved Sara...WOW

Thank you Vivi. I also thought Ximena knew Bruno and Alejandra, almost floated that yesterday.

After now watching the full episode I'm kinda hating that Sara knows the truth but I guess she has paid for her crimes. I still don't like her.

The way Xime kept calling out Katias name during the bomb scare made me think she might be around for her. Her appearance in the show seems off. I like Vivis wild guess. But what if she is related to Ale and working on her own?

Recap updated!

Tofie- Glad to know I'm not the only crazy one. ;-)

Vivi,

Thanks for this excellent concise recap. Well done. Amazing that you do it from memory. You're a wonder.

Now that we're saying goodbye to Damián it's good to see that he had some goodness in him. Unfortunate that he felt the need to murder Alejandra but she was something of a meddling metiche who was cramping his style. I've no doubt that he love both his daughters... in his way.

Is it time for some to rethink Sara? Has she managed to redeem herself? I think so.

I enjoyed hearing Abel explain to Lucio why he was sure that Camilo was responsible for Ámbar's death... he recognized Hernan's ridiculous sneakers and strange way of walking.

Carlos

Carlos- Abel was funny describing Hernan to Lucio. I also get a kick out of the look on Lucio's face each time someone tells him they know Camilo/Hernan killed Ambar. He's just waiting for the other red tennis shoe to drop and for them to accuse HIM too.

Vivi,

"...waiting for the other red tennis shoe to drop..."

Heh heh.

And how appropriate for someone with a rat tail and a cigarette behind his ear to be indulging in fashion commentary.

Carlos

Since in this Novela almost every episode someone dies, I am feeling that Lucio could be the next in the list but who knows. If he dies, I hope he doesn't take sweet little Mati with him. I felt something creepy when he told Mati that they would be together forever.

Sara was so cold in her dad's tomb. Yeah he was a miserable but he saved her from dying.

Marla- I agree it was creepy how Lucio kept promising that he and Matias will be together, forever. But I really don't think they'll kill a child. Lucio, however, I don't see surviving by the end of the tn. And if he dies, I'm sure he WILL always be with Mati, looking over him in spirit form. There's no doubt how much he loves that child.

Sara's hypocrisy still leaves me cold. Before knowing that Yago was innocent of Ambar's death she willingly went along with Camillo's scheme. Yes she thought the bomb was too much but she didn't call Yago right then to warn him. She didn't care if innocent people died in the bar too. Only after finding out Yago was innocent did she spring into action. Again, her actions are all about herself. Has she suffered, yes, but she hasn't changed.

Carvivlie- It was pretty hypocritical of Sara to ask Lucio if he knew about the bomb in that accusatory way, I thought, since SHE knew about it beforehand. It doesn't matter if Camilo told her it would just be a "little" bomb. Once she knew Yago wasn't guilty, she knew well enough that Camilo meant business with that bomb.

Thanks for the update, Vivi. "Wrong direction, kid." Heh heh.

I agree that Sara hasn't changed, and is just as hypocritical and selfish as ever. I don't know if that will ever change - and we're running out of time. Just a few weeks to go.

I still don't know what I think about Ximena re: where she came from and why she's in this story... but if we have to pair Yago off with someone (do we?), better her than Sara. As far as we know, Ximena doesn't have a history of throwing her boyfriends under the bus. It's easier for me to give Ximena the benefit of the doubt than to ever trust Sara with anyone.

I don't know if Sara can really change. But she can refocus and change her goals. And even though she could have done it sooner, and had selfish reasons for going to the bar to warn them, I'm going to give her props for saving all those people's lives. That would have been our highest body count yet and a real tragedy, had she not gotten there in time to warn Yago.

Vivi, I had forgotten Sara's question to Lucio about the bomb. She is a piece of work. I don't give her props for something she was unwilling to do until it benefit her in some way. You are a nicer person than me.

I am leaving for FL tonight so I will miss last night's episode and next week's too. Unless UniMas streams them but I'm guessing no since so many people have been having issues since the show went to Unimas. I'm going to try not to read the recaps so that I can catch up the following weekend. So much stuff happens per episode I want to be surprised.

Safe travels, Carvivlie!

Thanks Vivi!

Vivi: I also don't see Sara making it alive in the end either.

We all agree that Fidel & Daddy Michell will likely kill each other.

Beautifully written recap Vivi--and the poem was perfect. Everything about this story, the music, the characters, the plot...is toxic. And addictive. We are all hooked into a downward spiral with this one, but we can't let go.

Just could NOT watch much Tuesday or Wednesday..no patience with any telenovelas, but today got caught up, at least, with Yago.

As always, deeply appreciative of the hard work the recappers put in, and the interesting discussions. Was recently reading about a clubhouse for recovered alcoholics that only served pop, but otherwise functioned like a good ol' neighborhood bar. This is my neighborhood bar and I can visit any time my computer is up an running. Thanks y'all.

Hey Judy! Glad you're caught up. This tn is very addictive. Perhaps that's why Unimas is only giving it to us in 4-days-a-week doses. :)

When can we expect the recap from Wednesday night to be posted ?

Steve, bullet points should be available at 5:00... right about now, in fact.
