Yago #62: Trojan Trunk
In her room, Sara is still in her white negligee and robe, although her hair is done. She looks pensive as she stares at herself in the mirror and reads an old note from Omar: “Say yes, and make me happy.”- O. She crumples the note and seems to come to a decision, just as Camilo enters. She tells him she has something very important to tell him, and he gets worried that she wants to back out. “I need you to listen to me until the end, because it’s something that’s life or death.” We don’t get to hear what she tells Camilo, but when she finishes she begs his forgiveness, says she didn’t know how to tell him before, and that she was really scared. Camilo takes her hand, kisses it and says each day she surprises him anew. Sara understands if he never trusts her again.
S: I would do anything to not lose you, Camilo. I even wrote the corniest vows in history.
C: Vows? (Being new at this marriage thing, Camilo is clueless.)
S: You didn’t write me vows, Camilo Michel?

The thing that stuck with me about Camilo's suicide were the minutes leading up to it when he was with Abel.
He really fell for Sara and she broke him, just like Omar. If anyone should know how he felt, it should've been Yago since he was in his shoes once.
But even more than that, the moment when Camilo looked up at Abel and screamed "I'm the one who has lost everything!" and it stuck me as so so hard because despite all he has done, this is a man who did lose everything that he loved, probably more than anyone else.
He lost his best friend, his fiancee, his daughter, his new wife. I understand all he has done ultimately led to this but wow! the writers really struck gold with this novela. Even the most reputable human being can have at least one moment when you, at least, feel pity in spite of everything.
While Fidel got Selma, the Yago team, Julia (at the end), Camilo essentially ended up with nothing.
Now we are left with our starting four. Where do they go from here? How do we get Lucio to admit the truth about Ambar and Selma?
NovelaMaven- ITA that this episode was brilliant. It kept surprising me at every twist and turn.
I felt pity for Camilo as he realized he had once again been humiliated. But whenever I think about how he killed those two little boys and Ambar so callously, I don't feel any sympathy for him. At least he dies having experienced 20+ years of pure love from Julia, and has the knowledge that she and his grandchild will live. What more can a monster like him hope for or expect? That's more than many others have.
If they really think about it, Yago, Sara, and Abel will figure out that Lucio is ultimately responsible for Selma's death. They may never know for sure that he pulled the trigger, but Katia did tell Yago that she told LUCIO where Fidel's headquarters was located and that they would all be there. Not Hernan - Lucio.
For a moment I thought that Camilo had pulled a fast one on Abel and had used blanks when he shot himself. Abel barely looked down at him before he left the room. When Sara walked in after hearing the shot I expected her to look down at the empty floor! Talk about edg-of-your-seat, nail-biting drama!

"I felt pity for Camilo as he realized he had once again been humiliated. But whenever I think about how he killed those two little boys and Ambar so callously, I don't feel any sympathy for him."
My thoughts exactly.
The more I think about this story, the bleaker it seems. (And obviously we haven't hit bottom yet. For me, one of the lowest points was when "Just Give Peace a Chance" Julia asked Abel to kill Camilo. An eye for an eye. And all the eyes haven't been counted yet.)
I continue to marvel at how emotionally tone-deaf the Yago character has been, especially in his behavior towards Ambar, Ximena, Katia, and yes, Sara.
I have no idea how it will all end, though it wouldn't surprise me if none of the original four was left standing and we are left with the next generation, represented by Matias and by the child of Julia and Abel, to pick up the pieces.
I did like the part where Fidel & Selma's ghosts smiled at Yago: tears shed.
I had the same impression of Sara's wedding dress - she could have picked a better one! Evidently she wanted to save as much of her inheritance as possible.
The plot against Camilo was so intricate - and yet it still would have failed if Camilo hadn't shot himself. Very frustrating.
I did feel a moment of pity for Camilo. The guy has no luck with weddings. But he doesn't deserve any luck. His victims never had any luck.
Julie, it seems that the finale will be split into two episodes: Monday and Tuesday of next week. I'll do Monday and, if Vivi is available next week, she can do Tuesday. Otherwise, please fire me an email and we can work out an alternative plan.
I can't believe there are only 4 hours left of Yago time! After all the grief Loonyvision has given us, this series is coming to an end! ¡No puede ser! ¡No puede ser! :(
Thanks again, Vivi! This was stellar! :)
Julie- Sara never looked enthusiastic during either of her wedding dress shopping montages. The one the wedding planner had her in was gorgeous and looked amazing on her. But the more I think about this simple dress, the more I think it was a good choice. Not only because it reflects how she really felt about Camilo, but also because it was practical. Things could have gotten very complicated and violent, and a girl needs to be able to run fast to get the heck out of Dodge! That dress was perfect for a quick escape.
Yes, the signatures were put on the marriage certificate. Sara is officially a (rich) widow.

-- but it's a NYT piece called "Sneakers for That Sprint Down the Aisle." Who knows? Maybe Sara read it.
One thing that doesn't quite ring true for me: Camilo's placing his trust in Lucio (though of course, most every other henchie was dead). He fatally underestimates the cuckold's rage, something he'd be expected to know a thing or two about.
Sara is still fighting for Omar's love. I think she should leave and move away from it all and truly start over, but I guess she can't because Matias is Omar's son. I thought it interesting when Yago told Xime he wanted to travel the world with her (previous epi). My first thought was, "you're going to leave Mati?".
But for Randy Fenoli, a host on the TLC show "Say Yes to The Dress," a pair of sneakers with a wedding dress is appalling. [...] "Walking in heels is so much sexier," he said. "Sneakers make you walk flat. Call me old-fashioned. I’m a traditionalist. At some point you just have to say no."
Thoughtful words from someone who would never have to wear heels himself.
"I don't know if Camilo "trusted" Lucio. I think what Yago said was true about how Camilo would eventually bump Lucio off after he took care of Abel and Yago for him."
Oh yeah, absolutely. What I mean is that he entrusted Lucio with his security on the occasion of his wedding.
Hey Julie, glad the link worked. Appalling? Hee hee.
Carvivlie and Vivi, I think Yago's vision of escaping with Ximena is a kind of magical thinking. 'My first thought was, "you're going to leave Mati?".' I had the same reaction.

There were so many plot turns that i was happy, sad, disappointed, then happy again, sad and then happy.
Every time i feel sorry for Camilo, i am reminded of the roof top episode where he had 2 of his guys killed, one shot, the other had to fall to his death. That had to be the most gruesome death scene. Then i stop feeling sorry for him.
“While you’re going to get the milk, I’ve already made the quesadillas!” Vivi, thanks for this dialogue. Camilo was so pleased with himself and I couldn't figure out where milk came in.
What a rollercoaster episode. I hoped Abel wasn't really dead and couldn't believe Sara would blow over Yago to stay with Camilo, even for money. But Lucio going along with the plan still surprises me.
Although he was a monster, Camilo shooting himself was sad to me. Yet a living Camilo, even from prison, would have never let Yago, Sara, or Julia rest. But I am glad Abel didn't get to kill Camilo. Abel is still too willing to do the dirty work for his teams. It would've been another stain on him and a stain on Julia too to have Camilo's murder on their hands. Camilo loved Julia. Is it possible he took his own life because he'd lost everybody -- and because he wanted Julia to stay "clean"?
NovelaMaven, great to see you here!
Camilo was just so tickled with himself when he told that joke, it almost made me laugh. I've heard a few variations on that joke, which basically means I'm ten steps ahead of you, but this is the first time I heard the quesadilla version. I might have to incorporate it into my repertoire. :)
"Camilo loved Julia. Is it possible he took his own life because he'd lost everybody -- and because he wanted Julia to stay "clean"?"
Maybe. I'd like to think so, to see a glimmer of goodness, of light in the darkness...
