Sin Senos si hay Paraiso

"Vendetta", Hernan's song done to a compilation of scenes from the show, (loved the scene where Hilda grabbed Yesica by the hair, wow, this show has been amazing and so well done)

SILVANA SIN LANA – LUNES – Parte 1 de 2

We continue with Friday’s scene between Manuel and Silvana. He has told her that she should talk things over with Antonio José. He also says that resenting him isn’t good for her. Chivis burst out that, if he didn’t exist, everything would be clear to her. She’d forgive AJ and things might go back the way they were. Manuel: “So now I’m the bad guy of the movie?” He teases her, reminding her that she was the one who ran into his vehicle.

He then tells her that his life was in sepia until she came and brought the color. She tells him that she feels like a different woman having met him. But then she waffles and says that AJ’s return is important for her children.

Benji and Angie are enjoying the pizza he made from scratch. She tries a little Italian on him. He tells her the most important ingredient in food is love. He looks at her intently and says that he can tell she has a thing for Jorge. She tells him it’s over. He says that he can’t help but feel jealous.

María José and Lupita have come in. Lupita tells her sisters that her father replied to the letter she left him in the tree.

Dominique and Poncho talk about Jennifer’s having said he’s the father of her child. Poncho, silly as always, says he’s un toro con casta (a prize bull). Dominique laughs and tells him it’s one thing to be Benicio del Toro and another to be buey de Vinicio [No idea what this phrase means. Anyone?] After yelling upstairs to Stella they go to pray Poncho isn’t the father.

Angie tells Benji the whole story about her father and their moving into this neighborhood. He asks her if she still has feelings for Jorge. She doesn’t want to answer this question, saying they don’t know each other well enough to be asking questions like that. He’s leaving, but tries to kiss her. She moves away.

Majo studies her face to see if losing her virginity shows. Lupita comes into the bathroom and asks MJ to help her get Pedrito back.

Mauro and some other guys are at Casa Gallardo planning what they’ll do at the march for immigrant rights. He asks her if the gossip about she and Andrés is true. She says they’re only friends. He almost declares himself but not quite.

Poncho and Dom have come home to find the front door open and Stella gone. They freak out; on the other hand I’m hoping she’s been run over by a bus!

Every time Don Benito is at peace in his bakery, Trini shows up. He tries to tell her how he feels, but she goes into a monologue about how special she is. One must agasajarla, halagarla, contemplarla [wine and dine her, compliment her, gaze upon her]. Sweet as always, Don B tells her she’s stolen his heart. She replies that words aren’t enough. And goes off with free croissants.

Manuel has a talk with Jorge. Jorge says he’s back with Margarita but he can’t stand seeing Angie go out with another guy. Manuel tells him that you can’t be with one person while thinking of another [from experience, surely]. Manuel also says that amar and querer are different and that Jorge has to listen to his heart.

The two detectives approach Silvana, who again denies having seen AJ. They tell her he’s defrauded someone again. She then calls Rafael, the lawyer, and insists that AJ meet her in two hours at the park where they used to take the kids when they were little.

SILVANA SIN LANA – LUNES – Parte 2 de 2

Don Benito has taken Juanito’s advice, and the two of them have procured charro outfits and are getting ready to serenade Trini outside her house. Just then Stella rolls up, still in the stinky wedding dress. She tries to appropriate them to sing HER serenade to Manuel. She plays some song on her phone and starts shrieking MANUEL at the top of her lungs. “I love you! Marry me!”

Trini hears the shrieking, comes out and says that Stella organized this “trio”. She blames Don Benito for the whole thing. Stella says everything is the fault of la resbalosa de Chivis. [This word means slippery, but I often see it as an insult meaning the woman falls easily on her back.]

Lucha comes out to see what’s going on. Stella throws her arms around Lucha. Majo has come out and says this is the freak show of the year. Trini is angrily defending her daughter.

Manuel puts Stella in her car and drives off with her.

Trini tells Don B she heard enough: dos charros y una loca gritando groserías sobre mi hija. She tells him to leave.

MJ gets Angie into the bathroom to tell her a secret. She says it was like a dream, perfect. When Angie gets it, she shrieks. Angie goes on to say that MJ can’t possibly go back with Andrés now.

Mauro asks Lucha out but she appears to see Andrés driving up and tells him she’s tired. Andrés then tells her he’s come to see MJ.

Angie tells MJ she’s sure that she’s in love with Vicente. When MJ describes Andrés’ virtues, Angie asks if she can hear herself; she sounds like she’s ordering a boyfriend from a catalog!

Lupita comes to say that Andrés is here to see MJ. The two of them are awkward with each other. He finally tells her that he’s still in love with her and wants them to be together. MJ tells him it’s rather soon and doesn’t really give him an answer.

Manuel is at Stella’s. She thanks him for bringing her home and gets flirtatious. She tells him that what happened to her is awful. It’s the first time she’s ever been rejected. And she loves him. Manuel tells her that what she doesn’t understand or doesn’t want to understand is that he doesn’t love her. Stella: “Didn’t we have a good relationship?” He gets exasperated and tells her he’s not going back with her and that you can’t force a relationship on someone.

She shouts at him that he’s in love with Chivis, and he finally tells her it’s true. He is in love with Señora Chivis.

At the park Chivis has met with with AJ. She’s shocked to hear he’s been watching the house. She tells him the police could catch him. She tells him that his daughters might forgive him, but she won’t. He shakes his finger at her, saying he’s her husband and that she’ll help him. She tells him that she knows he just committed another fraud. She’s never going to help him and she plans to separate from him!

Silvana. Excellent recap, novelera! I liked your "On the other hand I'm hoping she has been run over by a bus." Benji is very perceptive--to my mind one of the things that makes him a keeper. I liked Angie's joke that she thought the most important ingredient in the the pizza was olive oil. She's also very sensible about MJ/Vicente/Andrés. I'm sort of starting to wonder why d. Benito doesn't just get fed up with Trini. The serenade episode was supposed to be slapstick funny, I think, but for me at least it fell kind of flat. Antonio José seems even fatter than he did at the beginning of the telenovela. Has the actor been over-enjoying Miami cuisine or is he setting up the likelihood of a heart attack for the character? Not a fatal one, of course, as this is a comedy. And could the detectives be lying about AJ's involvement in a new swindle? I believe they're allowed to lie in order to catch a criminal.

Thanks for the recap, novelera!

The English subtitles had this for Dominique's Benicio del Toro / buey de "Vinicio" line: It’s one thing to be a breeder and another thing to be bred.

I hope we don't have another runaway bride with Majo... I can see her going that far before realizing she'd rather be with Vicente though.

Silvana

novelera - Thank you for the recap!!!
" la resbalosa de Chivis. [This word means slippery, but I often see it as an insult meaning the woman falls easily on her back.] "
The English CCs had it as "slut", so you were spot on.

The serenade scene was funny to me at first, when their bluetooth wouldn't work, but of course it ended up with the usual tontería.

Stella has been wearing that dress ..... how many days??? Both should be fairly ripe by now in that Miami heat & humidity.

MJ telling Andres that she needs time is probably the first honest thing she has said.

SpanProf - AJ looked fatter to me, too. Perhaps it was just the camera angle.

Oh, and the English CCs had Chivis telling AJ that she wants a "divorce", even though that's not what she told him in Spanish.

Silvana

When Benji was questioning Angie about her father, my thought was that he was an undercover feed trying to info about AJ's whereabouts. I watch too much tv. If the feds wanted to do that, they's use Majo, who is not a minor. Underage dating might be a step too far no matter how much they want to catch AJ.

Majo is so much more appealing as a person when she's with her family. Her scene with Angie was very cute and showed a nice relationship between the two. Angie might be the only one who can speak directly to her about her relationships without her getting all huffy. Maybe Angie should go talk to Stella.

Kelly

Silvana

Doris, that's amazing that the English captions were so off about divorce vs separation. It's sort of a telling cultural difference, isn't it? In the largely Catholic audience for Spanish language novelas divorce is not supposed to happen. And in the English speaking, perhaps not Catholic, world view divorce is the obvious step for a betrayal like that of Antonio José.

Silvana

As I said last week, I'll put up something VERY brief tonight just to stimulate comments.

Silvana

Well, there is a big difference between divorce and a separation. Apparently the CC translators think not, or else they believe that separation ultimately leads to divorce so they cut to the chase.

TORMENTA DE PASIONES/IMPERIO/MAS SABE EL DIABLO

Anyone else watching?

Tormenta de Pasiones has changed places with Mas Sabe el Diablo as of Monday.

Tormenta de Pasiones is based on a true story according to the show's wiki page. I tried not to read too far into the plot section of the wiki page because even the first paragraph was loaded with spoilers! This novela pulled me in from the first minute, plus it is always interesting to learn about other cultures.

IMPERIO is also good, I do have a little trouble keeping up, I'm still building my Spanish vocabulary (thanks to many of the recappers here who are helping me with that task!)

Mas Sabe is interesting, I like watching Miguel Varoni go from smug to vicious and back to smug again in a millisecond.

This is my first time posting since a lot of my lurking is in some of the older previous show pages (just got finished watching the Soy Tu Duena repeats on unimas & will probably watch triunfo next, currently rerunning on unimas)

General

Welcome, Kitty. Here at the Telemundo area we usually only have recaps and comments about the evening novelas. I had noticed that Más Sabe el Diablo was playing in the daytime. I liked that novela when it played in the evening. Jencarlos was good. I just looked up the cast and remembered that MSED was the first time I ever saw Jorge Luis Pila and my heart went pitty pat right away!

Silvana

Many thanks, novelera, for this excellent recap. I loved your saying you were hoping Stella got run over by a bus. Though it didn't happen this time, I'm rooting for TeamBus as well! :-) Thanks too for including some Spanish.

SILVANA

Yes, gracias, novelera! I really enjoy the Spanish idioms.
Stella's dress is totally gross. Girlfriend needs a shower, shampoo & delousing.

Tormenta de Pasiones

Welcome Kitty! Tormenta is being recapped at El Cohete: http://5ftlatina.com/cohete/category/television/telemundo/tormenta-de-pasiones/

I wish I had time to watch other novelas but I'm only able to keep up with Silvana right now.

Silvana

I can take over recapping for Tuesdays, novelera. Feel free to still put up comments though since I can't actually watch until the next morning.

Silvana

OK, I'll put up a brief thing I wrote, J, because I did it before I read your comment. I'm sure you'll say more - and better.

The disgusting AJ keeps pressuring Chivis. Yikes, this guy has zero sex appeal! He gets a call warning him and runs off in mid conversation. Later he checks out of his hotel one step ahead of the cops.

Stella tells Manuel she can’t understand why he prefers Chivis [!]. She rattles on, setting my teeth on edge. Just then Dominique and Poncho come home and Manuel is able to escape.

Majo can’t really give Andrés a good reason why they shouldn’t go back together right away. Poor guy.

The insufferable Trini shows up at Don Benito’s house and won’t give him a chance to explain about the aborted serenade.

This is odd. Benji texts Angie some affectionate things and then gets into his red convertible with two female hotties. ???

Majo tells Vicente about telling Andrés she had to think things over. At least she’s not lying. He’s hurt.

Chivis tells Manuel about separating from AJ, but he doesn’t react right away. When he does, he tells her they’re now both single. Then he tells her he’s in love with her. And she tells him she’ll tell her girls about the separation. And…. She loves him!

General/Tormenta

Thank you so much Novalera & J for the warm welcome, and thanks J for the recap link for Tormenta!

SILVANA

Poor Chivis was having some wardrobe malfunctions with her white shirt last night! I sympathize, as I often have the popping-button issue if I wear button down shirts. Yikes! She was all cleavage at the playground, buttoned up when talking to the Feds, and then busting out all over again when talking to her mom!
I didn't catch what Margarita said to Jorge about her mother...? Help please!

Silvana sin Lana - Tuesday, September 13 - Capítulo 40, part 1/3

Silvana continues arguing with AJ about his latest con, which he denies but won't explain because it's not the right time. She never asked where his money came from before, but she has changed and no longer trusts him. She does agree to support him, but only for their girls, not because she's his wife. He has lost her. She starts to walk away and he grabs her, asking for a kiss. She yells at him to let her go and ends with yo ya no te amo. (I don't love you anymore.)

Stella doesn't understand why Manuel loves Chivis since she's so aburrida (boring) and desabrida (bland). Manuel has had enough and leaves just as Dominique and Poncho return home. They are happy to see that Stella is safe and hug her.

Andrés doesn't get why Majo needs more time. She doesn't want to make a mistake. She admits she still loves him, but she's worried that it won't work out. Her biggest fear is disappointing him again. She asks for a little time to think about it. She always makes impulsive decisions and if they get back together, she wants it to be for forever.

AJ tries to convince Chivis that she does still love him. He realizes he was overcome with codicia (greed), but he wants to start over again, with her at his side. She does not back down. Finally AJ asks if there is another person, but he receives a text telling him that the police are coming after him and he runs away. Chivis hears the sirens and runs off too.

Trini arrives at Don Benito's and yells at him for the escandalo with the music and Stella. She won't listen to Juanito when he says they were only there to sing to her, and makes him leave. Then she tells Don Benito that he doesn't want to grow up and he's acting like a child. He's too old to be doing such babosadas (stupid things).

AJ packs up his stuff at the hotel. The police are in the lobby. The receptionist recognizes from the photo. He just checked out. Ricardo Melendez is his fifth alias so far. AJ sees the police and escapes before they see him.

Vicente is in Lucha's room, using her compu para bajar unas rolas (computer to download some songs). She notes that he seems very happy - is it because he gets to see Majo everyday at the terminal? More time with Chente, and less time with the Doc means more points for him. She reminds him that he was the one who told her Majo and Andrés were getting back together, so no te hagas ilusiones (don't get your hopes up). Vicente is convinced they won't though. Things change and things happen that you can never forget. Lucha knows he's hiding something.

Don Benito is drinking alone in the dark when Margarita and Jorge get home. He tells them that Trini broke his heart and all about the serenade that Stella ruined. They get him to go upstairs. Margarita had never seem him like that before. Somehow we get on the topic of her mother, who left Margarita with Don Benito four years ago when she ran off with her boyfriend. She sent a few letters to Margarita but Don Benito doesn't like that they talk. [How many episodes until her mom shows up?]

Silvana sin Lana - Tuesday, September 13 - Capítulo 40, part 2/3

Chivis gets home and Trini rattles off everything that happened with Stella/Manuel/Don Benito. Chivis had a horrible day and just wants her to stop talking. She calls her a loro (chatterbox) and Trini tells her not to talk to her mother like that. There's a knock at the door. It's the police.

Stella thinks that if Dominique and Poncho hadn't gotten home just then, Manuel would still be there. They ask where she was. She says she went to serenade Manuel and then actually seems to realize that it was a bad idea and asks if she could be losing her mind. They all laugh and she says she's finally going to take off the smelly dress. She also tells them that Manuel is in love with Chivis.

The police know that Chivis has not been telling them the truth. They saw her arrive home. She doesn't admit anything and knows that she hasn't broken any laws just by being married to AJ. They threaten that she will go to jail alongside him if she helps him. She finally gets them to leave.

Majo returns to the bathroom. Angie asks if she wants to get back together with Andrés or not. Majo thinks that she wants to marry Andrés since he is the one she had always loved... but now there's Vicente. Angie asks if she's going to tell Andrés about what happened with Vicente.

The three besties are drinking on the couch. Stella apologizes to Poncho for making him suffer. If she had known that he liked her, she wouldn't have had him play along with the charade. She admits to being really stubborn and Dominique is delighted to have his old friend back. She's going to be ok; she feels like a different person. She asks Poncho to come back to the house and goes upstairs to finally take a bath. Dominique wonders if Poncho will be ok living with Stella again. He thinks so, and now that Manuel is out of the picture, he may actually have a chance.

Chivis argues with Trini about AJ since Trini still feels bad for him. Chivis tells her that he ran off without saying anything when the police were coming. She could have been caught and sent to jail; what kind of husband does that to his wife? He also conned somebody else and will probably caught any minute now. Trini needs some whiskey.

Majo thinks Angie is crazy for thinking that she would tell Andrés about sleeping with Vicente. Then he would never talk to her again. Angie lays it out for her - the truth will come out, one way or another, and it's better that he hear it from her rather than someone else. Besides, it's clear that Majo doesn't want to be with him. She doesn't love Andrés and she needs realize that she's in love with Vicente and that's why she slept with him.

Majo is afraid she could be leaving behind the love of her life. Angie tells her that doesn't exist. Their parents supposedly married for life and look what happened to them. You should marry who you love and not someone you "crees que es para ti" (think is for you). Majo says she's a realist. Supposing she followed her heart and married Vicente, where would they live? How would they support themselves? By selling fish? They don't know when their father will come back and their mother can't support them forever, so she thinks she should marry Andrés to help her mother. [How about you just get a job, Majo?] Angie asks if she's gone crazy. Their mother will never allow Majo to marry Andrés just to help her out. She should only get married because she is in love. If not, she will be condemning herself for life.

Silvana sin Lana - Tuesday, September 13 - Capítulo 40, part 3/3

Trini brings tea to Chivis and still thinks that AJ might be innocent since there are two sides to every story. Chivis says she will never forgive him and they will separate. She's tired of the lies and will tell the girls everything that's happened. Trini doesn't agree of course.

Angie receives a text from Benji saying he can't sleep because he's thinking about her. She asks if he thinks Lorenzo will let her work more since she wants to pay for math classes. Benji offers to teach her instead and they say good night. Instead of going to bed, he's next to his convertible and two women get in the car with him. [You had better be an Uber driver, Benji!!!]

Manuel knocks on the wall to see if Chivis is there. She knocks back.

The next morning, Majo has asked Vicente to take her to the terminal since Chivis left early to talk to Manuel. He knows that Andrés was there the night before and assumes that he asked her to get back together with him. She told Andrés that she was going to think about it. Vicente starts getting upset. Is she seriously going to think about it o na' más acá por darte tu taco (or did she just say that to brag/show off/?? I don't know how to translate the expression darse su taco in this context...) Majo responds that she is thinking about it seriously. Andrés was her boyfriend for three years and he forgave her for everything. Vicente calls himself an imbecil. He thought she would change her mind now that she loves him.

At the terminal, Chivis tells Manuel that she told AJ she wants to separate from him. Manuel is surprised, and also afraid that she will regret it later. Chivis is clear that she doesn't love him anymore. He says that means they are both single now.

Majo reminds Vicente that she had told him she might get back together with Andrés. They both knew that it could happen. He agrees that she was honest with him, but he still had hope. Majo says that need to be realistic. No tenemos nada que ver. (We have nothing in common/we are too different.) He thinks they always have a great time together, and he thought that after what happened, things would change. He really doesn't understand how she could want to go back to Andrés.

Chivis clarifies that she is not yet single. Manuel is just really happy and wants to tell everyone that he is in love with her. She asks him to wait a little while longer and to not tell anyone yet. She needs to talk to her girls and tell them everything. She finally admits that she loves him and they kiss.

[Interesting that Vicente/Majos/Andrés always used querer and Manuel/Chivis/AJ used amar.]

Silvano. Excellent and very complete recap, J. Wow! Keeping track of all of Antonio José's aliases. I'm so impressed! Yep, Stella is back--as we knew she would be. I liked your "how about you just get a job, Majo?" as well. Novelera and J: Yep, I too wondered about Benji. Was he just working as a parking valet? Was he "dating" those 2 sexy women? Was he a uber driver(good possible explanation, J)?. Or is he secretly a pimp? If so, that seems kind of unfair on the part of the writers. Btw, I thought the writers did a very good job of showing Antonio José's narcissism--which is supposed to be characteristic of swindlers like AJ and Bernie Madoff.

Silvana
J - Thank you for the recap!!! and good point about wondering when Marga’s mother will enter the scene.

I also noticed Chivis’ blouse and boobage almost hanging out. It’s the first time her wardrobe was a bit “showy.”

The scene with Poncho/Stella/Dominique was a good one. It seems that Manuel telling Stella that he is in love with Chivis was the bucket of ice water she needed to snap out of her crazyness.
Stella is finally going to get out of that dress! and take a bath! Hooray! I had just gotten a mouthful of iced tea when Dom said, inreference to her current state of .... ummm .... neglect, “she’s probably got tetanus” (as Stella was walking away to get cleaned up) and almost sprayed it everywhere because that throwaway comment just cracked me up. Sometimes I just love Dom.

Poncho thinks he still has a chance with Stella. I hope this ends well.

SpanProf – Yes, AJ is quite narcissistic. Nothing is his fault. But he really ticked me off when he wanted Chivis to kiss him. Pig. Asqueroso!

Interesting scene with Benji. Perhaps he is a player? Or working undercover for the Feds? Or just a two-timing mujeriego. But I did notice both girls were not stick thin Barbies, which is a bit unusual for telenovelaland.

The English captions continue to show "divorce" when "separar" is said. I found it can be a figurative word for divorce, as in "splitting up/split up". And in the context of the other conversations, it's looking like she is done with AJ and moving on. So perhaps our vocabulary has expanded.

SILVANA:

Thanks so much, J! I've caught up with the show, finally.

I was happy to see Chivis admit her feelings to Manuel (and herself). Can she actually start any real legal separation from AJ while he's in hiding? I thought she took a huge risk meeting him in the park, knowing that she's being followed. If there was any doubt in her mind that he's a loser, the way he ditched her in the park, without so much a "be careful/I love you", shows he will always put himself first. He's living in luxury hotels, while his family is scraping to get by.

Majo is unbelievable. I can't believe she just had sex with Vicente, yet is contemplating going back to Andres, just because he can give her the wealthy lifestyle she wants. I echo the call for her to get a J-O-B!

Silvana

So I guess if Benji isn't one of the Feds, those girls were there so we wouldn't feel bad when Angie and Jorge get together. He's in college and shouldn't be interested in a high school girl anyway.

Begging to get his wife back, then running away and leaving her to deal with cops alone is probably not the best way to make this happen. AJ is a jerk and I hope his daughters find that out sooner than later.

Kelly

Silvana

Many thank, novelera and J., for all the great info about last night's episode (which I was again unable to see). Novelera, I wonder whether the writers were bribed by some dentists to have Stella set viewers' teeth on edge :-). She always has this
effect on me.

J, thanks for another terrific recap. I greatly appreciated all the Spanish and your very interesting observation about which characters use querer vs. amar. And I enjoyed your comments suggesting to MJ that she get a job and that Benji better be an Uber driver.

I am using my phone to write and send these messages, and the last one didn't let me finish. I wanted to thank novelera and J for doing Tuesday's recap in my absence. I'll be able to resume recapping next Tuesday. J, if you'd like to take on an additional recap, I think Wednesdays are up for grabs (and no one is grabbing :-) ). Please don't feel obligated, but if you'd like to do it, that wwould be grea.

Silvana

Sure, Juanita, I can take over Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays.

SILVANA

J, thanks so much for the very complete and well written recap! I hope I didn’t step on your toes putting up my bare bones one. I had already watched the show and written some notes when I saw that you’d also volunteered.

Supposedly Majo already has a job, at the Fish Market, but so far she appears to show up erratically and run off when her ex-boyfriend shows up. They’ve never shown her getting a paycheck, but then hardly anyone ever gets a paycheck in telenovelas.

Yes, it does appear Stella has snapped out of it. I’m surprised. It feels way too easy to me. Maybe she’ll still try for some revenge on Chivis.

I felt so sorry for Vicente last night. He’s terrific in the scenes when he’s telling her how much she means to him. I keep wanting him to just stop pursuing the brat, but the writers aren’t listening to me.

I’m also disgusted with Trini. She just HAD to show up at Don B’s and rake him over the coals, again not letting him say a word in his defense. These people just don’t listen to my advice! If I wrote tonight’s episode, Trini would show up at the bakery and be presented with a bill for all the free goodies she’s walked off with. And, she’s so materialistic that she refuses to believe that AJ, who’s kept her in style for many, many years, is guilty because it doesn’t suit her. She prefers to believe he'll be exonerated and put her back in a mansion.

Vivi, good point about getting a legal separation from some guy on the lam. She certainly has a case for abandonment, but I don’t know anything about the legalities of getting such a thing in writing.

Silvana

SpanProf - I wonder about Benji since he pays for university and has a convertible, yet he works at a bar, so I wonder if something else is going on… The Uber driver thing popped into my mind first almost as a joke, but I actually hope it’s true because I don’t want him to be a jerk.

doris - I hadn’t thought about Benji working for the feds to get info on AJ, but that does seem like something the police would do. Benji seemed to come out of nowhere and instantly liked Angie, though the jealousy with Jorge seems to be real. But I suppose Mauro also came out of nowhere liking Lucha, so maybe these boys really are just plot points to keep the endgame couples apart.

Vivi - Glad you’re caught up! AJ is a piece of work, isn’t he? He even claimed to be living in a fleabag motel with nothing, lying to Chivis even more. So despicable.

Kelly - We still have 80 episodes to go so I think the girls won’t find out who their father really is for quite a while. :/ At least Angie already has a pretty good idea what AJ has done.

Juanita - I’m trying to include more Spanish, especially since Vicente says so many things that I don’t understand. But that’s ok, I don’t mind watching his scenes more than once. :)

novelera - No worries at all. I don’t mind if there are discussions before I am able to put up the recaps. I know I would be impatient to start talking about the episode if I were able to watch when it’s broadcast. Too bad I'm in a state that doesn't have any Telemundo stations at all.

I had actually forgotten that Majo does indeed have a job since she’s never there and doesn’t do any actual work!

SILVANA

J - How did you know there are 80 more episodes left? I have tried to find out, myself, and could not. I cannot imagine how the writers will fill 80 more episodes. Oh, wait. Yes, I do know and it's usually not good. Ack.
Dear writers, Please do not give us filler episodes and/or intolerable tontería. Porfis!!!

Silvana

doris, Marcela Guirado (Majo) confirmed it on Twitter last month. They just finished filming at the beginning of September. I figured it would be 120 episodes since most Telemundo productions are that long.

Thanks J! I'm not on Twitter .

Silvana

J, I'm delighted that you'll be doing the Wednesday recaps! ¡Muchísimas gracias!

Needless to say, I'm also very pleased that you're trying to include more Spanish, especially the colloquial words and expressions.

I'm not so pleased to learn that we may be in for 80 more episodes. I'm enjoying this novela, but, like doris, I'm afraid that there's just not enough meat for 80 more episodes, and so we're likely to get more filler/fat/stupidities. I hope I'm wrong.

SILVANA

wow, 80 more episodes?! They got the main romantic couple together very early on in the proceedings.

Silvana. Maybe 40 episodes or so of AJ's trial? Ugh. Watching MJ interact with Vicente and Andrés and especially defend AJ to Chivis, I have come to the conclusion that her biggest problem is that she's kind of stupid. Wonder who Juanito will move in with now that his house has burned down? Could they be trying for some kind of consolation romantic interest for Margarita? Doesn't seem too likely. Stella actually congratulated Poncho on becoming a father! Her saving grace is that she actually seems to like children and was very kind to Jennifer's--though she doesn't want any of her own because it would wreck her figure. Mauro volunteers entertaining children at a hospital? He just keeps getting better and better. I hope Benji is an undercover detective (another good alternative, doris!) rather than a pimp!

Silvana sin Lana - Wednesday, September 14 - Capítulo 41, part 1/3

After the kiss, Manuel and Chivis are both adorably giddy. Manuel wants to repeat it, but Chivis says they need to slow down. He suggests starting their noviazgo (courtship/relationship) by writing each other love letters, and Chivis suggests using pen names so no one will know its them. Manuel comes up with Enrique Torres and Viviana Monterola. Chivis still can't believe they ended up falling in love. But she needs to go talk to her girls. They get in one more kiss before she leaves.

Margarita asks Jorge to help her make a birthday video for her mother since she doesn't have money to buy a gift. She also asks him to not tell Don Benito about it.

Poncho prays to the Virgencita that Stella will start falling for him and that Jennifer's kid is not his. Dominique hears him, and spills the bean about Jennifer's pregnancy to Stella when she arrives at work.

Vicente still can't understand why Majo wants to go back to Andres. Majo tells him to forget about Andres because aunque no estuviera en el mapa (even if he were out of the picture), Majo's not sure she could be with Vicente anyway. Vicente asks if it's because of the way he is, or because he lives in a duplex, or because he sells fish at a market? Majo just says he's making this more difficult. He knows that she likes him. She never said she didn't. Vicente asks if she would prefer to live in a big mansion, but be lonely. Or spend years going on nice trips, but be bored with that baboso (loser). Majo tells him to not talk about Andres like that and ubicate (know your place). Vicente can't because sus besos me desubican (your kisses lose me) and he feels that she wants to choose him, just like she chose him to be her first. So stop playing dumb because she already knows what she wants. Majo shakes her head. She's already made a decision. She's getting back together with Andrés.

Vicente accepts that he's done all he could. Majo reminds him that they both knew from the beginning that this was going to happen. Vicente disagrees; he could tell that deep down she had doubts. She calls herself crazy and says she just keeps making mistake after mistake. Vicente, ever the good guy, simply says un gusto (a pleasure) and they hug. Majo tells him that she will never forget him, she will always keep him in her heart, and he was he most important man for her. She even likes the smell of fish now. Vicente says he will always like her, and to not be sad, because life takes many turns. If she regrets her decision, he will be right next door waiting for her. She wishes it were that easy. They kiss.

Stella congratulates Poncho on the baby, but he quickly replies that it's not confirmed yet. Then she asks where Manuel is. Dominique gets suspicious that the new and improved Stella is still the same old Stella. She claims she just wants to tell him that she's not rencorosa (resentful) and that she's fine with Manuel dating Chivis. Dominique doesn't believe her at all.

Back at Stella's, Dominique tries to convince Poncho to stay living there. He keeps taking the clothes out of the suitcase as soon as Poncho puts them in. Poncho thinks that Stella will miss him if he's gone. Dominique asks what about him? Who will watch movies with him? Who will go to the store with him? Stella comes in and tells Poncho he cannot leave.

Silvana sin Lana - Wednesday, September 14 - Capítulo 41, part 2/3

Lucha has invited Mauro over after the protest for something to eat and he is impressed that she cooked everything. He receives a text from a Vanessa saying she can no longer go to the hospital with him to entertain the kids (they dress up as clowns to make them laugh, like Patch Adams). Lucha didn't know he did that. He invites her to go with him. Manuel comes through the door while they are still talking and laughing and Mauro seems a tiny bit scared of him. He leaves and Manuel comments that it's for the best that Lucha has moved on from the doctorcito. The most important thing is to be happy. Manuel is in a good mood, and starts dancing with Lucha. She can tell that something is up and asks him if he's falling in love. He doesn't really answer.

Chivis sits everyone down (except Lupita) to tell them the police interrogated her again because AJ committed another fraud. Trini refuses to believe he's guilty. Majo asks what would happen if he gets caught and goes to jail. Chivis responds they will support him since he's their father and still part of the family, but she has decided to separate from him.

Stella tries to convince Poncho to stay. She apologizes again for hurting him. Dominique keeps taking clothes of the suitcase (sticking his head and arm through the bars at the end of the bed. LOL). Poncho says he's not hurt; he just wants to salir adelante solo (move forward on his own).

Majo can't believe that her mother decided to leave her father when he hasn't even come back yet. She doesn't think that's being 'supportive' of him like Chivis said they would be; it's being desleal (disloyal). She claims her father never would have abandoned Chivis like that if Chivis were in his position right now. Chivis reminds her that AJ did indeed abandon her, and them. Majo is angry that Angie and Trini aren't on AJ's side either. Trini says she nunca le voy a cerrar las puertas (never close the doors) on AJ, but she respects the decision Chivis has made. Majo keeps fighting: If she has to choose, she chooses her father and Chivis will lose her forever. [Eh, no big loss with the way she's been acting lately!]

Chivis says she never asked her to choose between her parents; she would never do that. Angie yells at Majo to stop being so childish. Trini gets them to quiet down, and Majo stomps off. Angie follows her.

Stella thinks telling Poncho all her defects will stop him from loving him and he will feel more comfortable to stay in the house. Poncho replies that even if she were pelona, tuerta, o jorobada (bald, one-eyed, or hunchbacked), he would like her just the same. Finally they convince him to stay.

Majo and Angie fight about Chivis leaving AJ. [Nothing new here. Majo's in for a rude awakening when she finds out how AJ really is.]

Chivis gets into bed, but takes off her wedding ring before going to sleep.

Silvana sin Lana - Wednesday, September 14 - Capítulo 41, part 3/3

At breakfast, Lupita's notices that Chivis is not wearing her argolla (ring). Chivis says it's better to leave it at home so it doesn't get lost or damaged at work. She says goodbye to everyone except Majo goes into the kitchen so she can't stay goodbye to her. Lupita notices this too and asks if Majo is mad at their mom. Majo says yes but doesn't say why. Lupita thinks she's crazy and assumes it's because of her "ruler" (she said ruler in English; mistranslating regla - period). Trini laughs and heads off to the bakery.

Trini sets an envelope on the counter and tells Don Benito that she's turning in her resignation letter. He opens it, but it's a blank piece of paper. She didn't actually write anything; it's just a formality. He asks her to stay working there, especially since Juanito didn't show up that morning. He tells her again that the serenade was for her, but Stella ruined everything. She tries to make him jealous saying she's going to a French bakery, with a handsome baker who speaks French.

Chivis prays to the Virgencita about her decision and Stella comes up from behind. Chivis is nice to her, happy to see her back at work. Stella acts like her old self, accusing Chivis of stealing her boyfriend. Chivis denies it, but Stella reveals that Manuel told her he was in love with Chivis.

Juanito arrives at the bakery, looking really upset. His house burned down because he left the coffee maker on all night. He lost everything and he has no one else in this country. Don Benito tells him not worry; he will take care of him.

Benji arrives at school to pick up Angie and Lupita. Lupita would rather go with Margarita and Jorge though, so Angie and Benji can be alone. Angie doesn't like that Lupita thinks they are already in a relationship. She and Benji are just friends.

Lucha agrees to go to the hospital with Mauro. As they are talking, Majo interrupts to ask if Lucha knows where Andrés is. She doesn't know. The tension is obvious between them and Mauro asks again if there was ever anything between Lucha and Andrés. Lucha says no, and doesn't want to talk about it anymore, and leaves to get coffee.

Stella comes into the office, continuing to insult Chivis who is trying to work. Then she notices that Chivis is no longer wearing her ring. Stella gets another dig in about Chivis' husband - te sientes menos culpable de ponerle el cuerno cuando no traes anillo? (do you feel less guilty cheating on him when you don't wear the ring?)

Majo finds Andrés, who is really happy to see her. They are both nervous. She tells him she wants to be his girlfriend again and they kiss. Lucha sees them and keeps on walking. Majo opens her eyes in time to see Lucha leaving, and hugs Andrés with a not so happy/unsure of herself look on her face.

Silvana. Excellent and complete recap, J! I especially liked "Eh, no big loss." about Majo's choosing her father. Guess I jumped the gun on comments, but we could just pretend that they came right after you recap instead right before. :)

Silvana

I don't know if the audience can stand having to listen to Stella's crazy rants for the next 80 episodes. Perhaps she will join forces with Antonio Jose to force Chivis to remain married.

Manuel did say that Stella should see a psychiatrist.

Silvana

Thanks so much, J, for the fine recap. I also concur with “no big loss” if Majo rejects her mother. I think the actress is doing a fine job with the role. She can be SO sweet sometimes, especially with Lupita. But she is completely unfair with her mother, and has been so all along. She was 100% drama queen about leaving the mansion and lied about still living there. I can’t think of a single time she’s complimented her mother for getting them into a house and finding a way to support them. I guess she’s daddy’s girl and the firstborn and all. But it’s just stupid that she can’t understand why her mother would want to separate from a guy who’s a proven white-collar criminal.

Yes, I wonder what the plot point about Juanito’s house fire is meant to represent. He does seem to have family; he mentioned it happening to “them”. If he lived alone, I could see Don Benito having him move in, perhaps sleeping on the sofa. Then maybe we could see him as a replacement boyfriend for Margarita when Jorge inevitably goes back to Angie.

I HOPE they’re not going with Chivis turning on Manuel for having told Stella he loved her. She made a big point of asking him to keep it quiet. He said he’d do that and now she’s found out he told Stella. Of course, Stella hasn’t told her why he did so—to get her to leave him the hell alone.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say I dislike her, but I’m not wild about Lucha as a character. She appears to completely lack a sense of humor. I’m sure she’ll enjoy the dressing as a clown and cheering up children since she’s an inveterate “do-gooder”. I was surprised she didn’t scope out the reason for Manuel’s happiness and start ragging on Chivis as “out of his league” as she’s done before. I guess she’s finally gotten off Team Stella after seeing the ridiculous scene in the church and her behavior in front of the house, stinky dress and all.

I know this is a comedy and all, but do they have to have SO many scenes of Trini behaving like a complete fool? I know Adriana Barrazza is a very accomplished actress. She was nominated for an academy award for a role in Babel. And she was terrific in Dueños del Paraíso as Kate del Castillo’s mother. She did have one good moment last night sticking up for her daughter in front of Majo.

Silvana

One more thing. I meant to also mention that the video Margarita wants to prepare as a birthday present for her mother is to be of she and Jorge dancing together and to show her mother her "boyfriend". More manipulation.

Silvana

J --- I am thanking you for this recap even though I just got in and have not had time to read it. I haven't even seen the episode, so I'll hopefully get to do it later tonight. Crazy schedule today.

Re: Separar ---- Last night, I texted my adult English conversation student (from Mexico) I am tutoring about using separarse instead of divorciarse. She replied that , separarse can be synonymous with divorciarse. So, we have all had this confirmed and our vocabs expanded.
