SILVANA SIN LANA (Cap. 66) - LUNES - Parte 1 de 3

Everyone greets Lupita with great relief. The taxi driver who brought Lupita home knocks on the door and asks to be paid. Later, Lupita tells her mother that she didn't realize how far the prison was and that she thought her trip wouldn't take a long time. Chivis talks about how worried everyone was and emphasizes that children should not go by themselves into the street. Lupita says that she wanted to see her father, and although Chivis says she'll tell Lupita everything she wants to know, Lupita replies that she wants to touch him and have him answer her questions in his own voice, not via Chivis. She also expresses her worry that her father may forget her. Chivis tries to reassure her that that will never happen.

At Stella's, Poncho is following through with his threat to move out. He looks very nostalgically at his room and bids goodbye to his amigo, Dom, and his ex-amigo, Stella. Stella offers him one last chance to think over what he's about to do (recapacitar). Poncho says rather melodramatically that he's made a decision, "and when a man makes a decision, there's no turning back" (volver atrás). He announces that "It's time to show the world who is the real Alfonso Archundia." Dom pleads with Poncho to stay. In a sudden burst of lucidity, Poncho tells Dom that he's tired that Stella doesn't take him seriously, and that she just uses him for her games with Manuel. The lucidity doesn't last long, and the scene continues with Dom's over-the-top exhibition of grief over Poncho's leaving. [¡Ya basta!]

We then see Poncho arrive with his suitcase at Don Benito's bakery. Poncho explains that he has moved out and has nowhere to go. He asks Don Benito whether he would rent him a room. Don Benito is reluctant at first, but evenually he gives in, telling Poncho "If you're having a bad moment, I'll help." He's quick to add, however, "if you start flirting (echando los perros) with my granddaughter Margarita, I'll kill you."

We then move to the balconies. Manuel asks a clearly unhappy Chivis to tell him what's wrong. She tells him that Antonio José watched their balcony scenes several times. "He thinks I have a lover, and he named you." Manuel makes light of it, and bends over the balcony to show that the balconies are too far apart even for a kiss. Chivis tells him to stop making jokes. She doesn't want to hear from him (No quiero saber nada de ti). Manuel again asks why she doesn't tell him what's bothering her. She replies, "I know men like you are rather passionate about things, but this time you've gone too far" (pero tú ya te pasaste de la raya. He urges that they get to the point (vamos al grano). She still avoids being explicit. Manuel says, "if it's what I imagine, I assure you I haven't touched a woman other than you." Chivis is incredulous: "Oh? Did Stella become pregnant by the Holy Spirit?" Manuel laughs with surprise and relief. He can't believe that Chivis actually believed Stella. He continues: "Frankly, I don't believe that she's pregnant." Chivis says that Stella is very sexy, and perhaps Manuel missed her, especially since, in comparison, Chivis is a married, snobby, boring nun. Manuel replies that she's the most beautiful nun in the whole convent. Toward the end of their balcony conversation, Manuel swears by Chivis' statue of the Virgencita that he hasn't touched any other woman since he broke up with Stella. Chivis asks, "Didn't you tell me that you were separated from God? How can you swear by the Virgencita?" Manuel responds, "I simply said that I became rebellious when He took away the mother of my children." [I wonder whether Chivis' coming into his life may change things.]

SILVANA SIN LANA - LUNES - Parte 2 de 3

Mauro and Lucha are together in her room. Even more than in the last episode, he's very excited about her running for president of the med students' association. He tells her that she's perfect for the job, that she's a natural leader. She's like her father, leadership is in her genes. Lucha is much less exuberant. She asks him not to pressure her. It's one thing to run, quite another to be elected. He assures her she'll win, he'll be her campaign manager. He then says something I'm not sure about: te voy a tener para mi solito. Is he saying that she'll be an antidote to his loneliness? I only know that his enthusiasm and exuberance about her running for president and his being her campaign manager seem excessive, perhaps desperate? At any rate, he then promises her that the day she's elected, he'll have the mariachis serenade her. Oops...that triggers a memory Lucha has of Andrés singing to her. She then tells Mauro she's tired. He kisses her multiple times and leaves. She then texts Andrés, saying she saw him unhappy at the terminal, and does he want to talk. He immediately texts back "Please" (in English).

Benji comes to Angie's house. He wants to explain. She doesn't want to hear anything more from him. He tells her that he cares for her. She replies that he has a strange way to show it, with lies and deceit. He admits that it all started as a favor to Margarita, but as he got to know her, he fell in love with her (me enamoré de ti). Angie tells him she doesn't believe him, and that the only thing for which she's grateful to Margarita is that she ratted him out (te haya echado al agua. She tells him she doesn't want to have anything more to do with him, and she shuts the door in his face.

At Stella's, Dominique is totally broken up with grief over Poncho's having left. [Fast Forward>>]

Poncho, Margarita, and Don Benito are at the breakfast table. Poncho asks why she's not in school. Margarita replies that she's sick. Don Benito insists that she tell Poncho the truth. She does, more or less. Poncho is in earnest, pompous mode [FF>>] At last, he suggests that he take her to the fish terminal, where she could learn a lot about what's good. Margarita likes the idea, especially when she confirms that that's where Chivis works. She claims the experience will distract her and help her feel better. DB gives his OK, with one proviso: that tomorrow she returns to school. She doesn't seem pleased, but she agrees.

Angie and Lupita are getting ready to leave for school. Trini announces that she's going to accompany them. Lupita tells her that only the little kids are taken by adults, and people will make fun of her. Angie asks Trini to trust them to go by themselves, and that she'll take good care of Lupita. Trini first claims that she wants to come too, that it's good exercise. Finally, though, she reminds Angie that yesterday Angie took Lupita to school and Lupita vanished. So this time, Trini will come, too. She opens the door to leave, only to find Jorge and Pedrito at the doorstep, waiting for Angie and Lupita. Trini finally agrees that the four of them could go off without her. Trini decides that since she's nicely dressed and perfumed, she'll go off to Don Benito's. She talks about Lupita's experience and wonders whether the family needs therapy. DB tells her he's heard about a center that works with the families of prisoners, and it's free. Trini is horrified at the suggestion [I'm surprised she didn't faint]. DB asks whether, when AJ is released, he'll come live with his family. Trini says no, that would be a disaster. All of us in that hovel (casucha). No, in that case it would be better that he stay in prison, the poor guy (se quede ahí de reo).
 

SILVANA SIN LANA - LUNES - Parte 3 de 3

DB suggests that Trini could move to his place. Trini asks how she could live in a man's house if she's a widow. DB says that she could change her state (Usted podría cambiar de estado). [Here we go again]. In the background, the wedding march begins to play. Trini asks him what he means. He says that she could move from the state of widowhood to...to the state of... Trini prompts "to what? to what? to what?" DB replies, "tenant" (arrendataria). He adds that he wouldn't charge her anything. He seems not to understand why she leaves abruptly.

At the fish terminal, Stella is reading a book entitled "Tu Bebé." Margarita and Poncho arrive. A short time later, Chivis appears and asks Margarita how she is. We see why Margarita was so enthusiastic about coming to the terminal. She replies, "How should I be? Angie stole my Jorge!" Chivis was still under the impression that Angie was Benji's novia. Margarita rubs it in that Chivis didn't know that Angie and Benji had broken up and that Angie had stolen Jorge. "What bad communication you have!" she snorts. Stella gets into the act. "Oh my God, it's the family, they're the same, the mother and the daughter, they're slimy, they steal men." Stella again tries to brag about her pregnancy, but this time, Chivis tells her "you can invent whatever things you want, I have work to do."

The scene shifts to the prison. AJ is talking to several other prisoners about getting money for bail. He introduces someone who will tell them how to get money: a prisoner named Gregorio Cabeza. Cabeza says the way to get money is through betting. One of the prisoners says he has bet on the horses for years, and he hasn't won much money. Cabeza tells him that the solution is crooked bets (las apuestas chuecas). AJ and Cabeza explain the details.

Back at the fish terminal, Stella asks Dom how are things coming with his finding a dog psychologist for Francisco Javier. He tells her he's been checking on prices, but he thinks at this point Stella's primary concern should be her pregnancy. She tells him that her priority is her first-born son, and that's her little dog (la prioridad para mí es mi primogenito, que ese es mi perrito). Dom then reports that one psychologist charges $20 per hour, and when Stella expresses shock, he informs her that there's another, quite well known, who deals with dog stress. That's the one she wants, she says. He tells her that that one charges $345 per session, and a session lasts only 45 minutes. That's why Dom will reserve a place with the psychologist who charges $20/hour. No, says Stella, I want the expensive one. I want the best for my primogenitos.

Lucha and Andrés are at a restaurant. Lucha says she's not trying to hide anything, but she thought it would be wise to meet away from the university to avoid conflicts and comments from the others. Andrés agrees, and adds that the relationship between a professor and his best student can lend itself to all kinds of misunderstandings. Lucha protests that she's not his best student but thanks him for the compliment. Andrés thanks her for sending him the text message. He admits that he has missed her cariño a lot. He then asks her not to tell anyone what he is about to say. Finally, he comes out with it: it turns out that among the people who are suing the father of María José is my father. Her father defrauded my father (Su papá estafó a mi papá).

Sorry that the recap is so late. I kept struggling with the word-count nazi and that took quite a while. Oh well, at least it's still technically "morning." :-)
 

Silvana. Excellent recap, Juanita. Well worth the wait! Yep, "Ya basta" with Poncho, et al. I THINK Mauro just means that if he's managing Lucha's campaign, they'll have to spend a lot of time together. But obviously he's still very worried about Andrés. Btw, we learn that Lucha is a first-year med student--maybe that would explain the lack of time in clinical classes at a hospital. Ok, so the taxi driver does ask to be paid after dropping Lupita off. He certainly deserves it. Another adorable scene between Manuel and Chivis on their balconies. Chivis is finally behaving sensibly about Stella's so-called pregnancy. Interesting change in Trini's ideas about AJ's imprisonment. She wants him out only if it doesn't inconvenience her. And AJ is working a scam even in prison! Margarita once again reveals her essential creepiness, as does Stella. I think it's time for the plot to move forward a bit faster. It seems to me that it's bogging down even more than usual.

So, Andres still hasn't told MJ that her dad defrauded his dad and his dad is suing? Why?

Many thanks, SpanProf, Vivi, and doris. SpanProf, I was very surprised at Trini's statement about AJ, and that it might be best if the "poor guy" stayed in the carcel. Wow, talk about selfish.

Vivi, I'm surprised that Majo hasn't been told about her father's having defrauded Andrés' father. What's the point of keeping this from her?

doris, thanks very much for offering to do the recap. Don't feel that it has to be long. I'm sure it will be useful and interesting, long or short.

Gotta run. I'm outta here soon, which is why I had to switch to Monday this week.

I liked [Here we go again] for another of the interminable DB/Trini misunderstandings.

How in the world did Chivis refrain from slapping Margarita right there in the Terminal. SHE’S critiquing Chivis as a parent when her own.

The only thing of note that happened last night was Chivis finally telling Manuel what was bothering her. Otherwise, lots of stupid people doing stupid things.

Extremely busy day at work. I started typing this comment 6 hours ago!

Methinks Margarita's mother might make an appearance at some point.
I loved how Mañuel took control of the taxi driver situation, just leading the guy out so he could pay hI'm the fare. What a mensch!

 

SILVANA

Here is my recap-of-sorts. I used English subtitles, so no phrases translated for y’all….. disculpame. Feel free to correct any errors I made, and please feel free to add any other info I left out. The events below are condensed and lumped together by people/theme and not necessarily in the order they were shown in tonight’s episode.

Part 1

We open with Andres telling Lucha that AJ defrauded his parents and he feels guilty about AJ being in jail partly because his parents are suing AJ for fraud. (Um…. I don’t think it works that way, AJ, but whatevs….just keep wearing your telenovela beanie hat for the plot’s sake). He also points it that it will make things weird to have his dad suing his soon-to-be father –in-law. Well, that does make sense to Viewerville.

Lucha tells Andres that he needs to tell Majo about the lawsuit. She says ‘relationships are about open communication’. Really sweet background music playing during this that makes me think they will end up together by the Por Fin.
Andres comes to talk to Majo and tell her that his parents are suing her dad for fraud. Majo does not take this well. (Viewerville is not surprised) Majo, the queen of denial, thinks Andres shoulda/coulda stopped his dad from suing her dad. (as if! Majo needs to wake up and smell the lost money)

At the end of the episode, we see Majo trying to text Vicente, who is studying for a test. Ale joins him on the bench and they talk about the test, school, etc. Ale shows him her cheat sheet for the test. She even asks Vicente if he will whisper an answer, if she forgets one. He says “sure.” (yipes! We knew that girl would be trouble)

In the meantime, Majo has a self-centered meltdown because Vicente is not responding to her text msge . (Girl, it’s not like he is on call for you!) It also looks like she deleted a bunch of photos from her laptop, most of which had her dad in them.

Rafael meets with AJ at the jail. AJ tells Rafa that he’ll get out of jail by betting. There are guys inside (the jail) who have good information. Rafa reminds him that he (AJ) lost $10k he gave him for his last bet on the horses. AJ says he has money hidden in Uruguay, “the Switzerland of the Americas”. ( Really, AJ? All this while Chivis & your kids were booted out of their house and left to fend for themselves? May you have to work at a taco stand for the rest of your life!) Rafa covertly passes some large bill$ to AJ for whoknowswhat.

AJ asks Rafa what Chivis meant about those close to him (AJ) doing things behind AJ’s back. AJ says that Chivis pretty much said someone “came on to her”. Rafa denies any knowledge or guilt. AJ tells Rafa that he hates lying and betrayal. (oh, that’s a good one, AJ. Let’s review: just why are you sitting in that jail???)
 

SILVANA

Part 2

More tontería between Poncho and Manuel at M’s office. Poncho tries his power play stuff, basically says numbers don’t add up on the lease deal, blah blah blah. Manuel says ‘I practically raised you since you were in diapers’, yadda yadda FFWD>>>
Then another Poncho/Manuel scene at Don B’s bakery, Gunfight At OK Corral type background music, blah blah blah FFWD>>> but Poncho tells Manuel to ‘watch out at the next fish terminal elections. Whatevs.

Dom busts Stella for drinking a beer. We get a PSA about alcohol and pregnancy. Stella finally tells Dom she is NOT pregnant, that it is all a lie. Dom is appalled but agrees to play along. FFWD>>> Stella wears down Manuel over the phone, who promises to bring her something from Don B’s bakery. Because he is just too nice for his own good. And that also sets him up for the scene with Poncho in previous paragraph…..

Angie visits Jorge, they have a cute convo, sort of flirty, ends with Angie almost jumping Jorge’s bones with a big kiss. Beso! y “te quiero”(from Jorge).
Angie: Quiere ser mi novio?
Jorge: Sí!
Manuel walks in and sort of bursts the bubble of cuteness. Angie leaves. Manuel nicely warns Jorge that he could get hurt if and when Angie moves out of the neighborhood.

Later, Chivis has a nice mother---daughter talk with Angie. She asks Angie why she never talks to her about her problems, and that Angie always acts so strong. Angie finally tells Chivis about the Benji breakup being due to Margarita’s plot with Benji in order to keep her away from Jorge, and that she’s over it now. Trini walks in and overhears this part, calls Margarita “crass” and gives Marga down the road, blah blah blah. I think this is the scene where we learn Benjamin is already graduated from college, which means he’s a LOT older than Angie anyway, since she is still in high school.

We see Margarita walking in front of the bakery and Benjamin approaches her, tells Marga to tell Angie that she set him up. Marga tries to defend herself, Benji tells her there. will. be. trouble. and. she. will. pay. if she doesn’t do it. Oh my…. Benji has teeth.
 

SILVANA

Caught one error! "I don’t think it works that way, AJ, but whatevs..." I said AJ and meant to type "Andres".

Doris, thank you for the wonderful recap. Angie and Jorge were the best part of the episode. I wish Angie wouldn't beat herself up for her tendency to be cautious with her heart with people who have hurt her. This is perfectly natural and I think Jorge originally pushed her too hard to forgive him instantaneously, and I think Majo is pushing her too hard to give AJ instantaneous forgiveness too.

Majo reacting like a spoiled brat to the news that Andres' parents are suing AJ (but not to the news that her father defrauded her novio's parents) was no surprise. The surprise is that Andres still wants to marry this supposed woman.

I had the same reaction as you to AJ saying he doesn't forgive those who lie to and betray him. Hello! Pot, meet kettle!

I usually grit my teeth and roll my eyes through the Poncho and Stella scenes, but this time I actually did ffwd through them. Enough, writers!

Wow, doris, thanks so much for this delightful recap! I especially loved all your snarky (and on target) comments. Among my faves were many of the ones about Majo, such as "Majo, the queen of denial" and "Majo needs to wake up and smell the lost money." And about AJ, e.g. "oh, that’s a good one, AJ. Let’s review: just why are you sitting in that jail???" and "May you have to work at a taco stand for the rest of your life!" Actually, I hope the taco stand is inside the prison. I also hope that AJ's most recent betting scheme backfires, and he's surrounded by a number of very angry fellow prisoners.

I also appreciated your FF>> through most of the scenes involving one or more of the Three Stooges.

I might add that there was an interesting development concerning Angie. She admitted to Majo and to Chivis that she's starting to have some sympathy for AJ.

Anyway, this was most definitely a terrific real recap. Perhaps you'll consider doing more?

Juanita- Yes, Angie is starting to soften towards AJ. It's happening naturally, at her own pace. Just like she was forgiving Jorge naturally, and at her own pace. She's a thoughtful person who just needs to sit with her emotions for a while, sort them out, and let them evolve. She doesn't need people like AJ constantly demanding that she feel something she's not yet ready to feel. I really like how Chivis has handled the very different reactions and needs of her three daughters. She has let Angie have her very valid feelings of anger, while letting her know she has her support to forgive and support her father.
 

SILVANA:

Correction: "She doesn't need people like MJ constantly demanding..." Although, I'm sure if she went to see AJ, he too would be whining for her forgiveness.
 

Silvana. I agree with the others, doris, a wonderful and very witty recap! I too liked your witty comments about Andrés, AJ and MJ: "telenovela beanie hat," "Majo, the queen of denial," "needs to wake up and smell the lost money," "Girl, it's not like he's on call," "May you have to work at a taco stand." Angie IS strong, and great analysis of her character, Vivi. I don't think Majo and Andrés will end up together, but who knows? MJ doesn't really deserve anyone, but maybe she'll miraculously mature even more than she has so far. Eventually AJ will ferret out what Rafael was up to with Chivis, and somehow Rafa will pay! Man, his first semester Vicente is taking both Calculus and Macroenomics? And it must be awhile since the writer studied Econ, because what Vicente says about macro really applies to micro (econ minor many years ago; I don't remember much, but I do remember that). Wonder what Benji will get up to by way of revenge. And are we sure he has already graduated from college? Even if Trini said it, it may or may not be true.

Thank you SO much for the recap, Doris. It was terrific and loaded with great sarcasm. Yep, these people are incredibly annoying at times.

I don’t remember Vicente agreeing to help Alejandra cheat. I think he gave her a PSA about the risk of getting caught with her tiny cheat sheet. But I watched it in a hurry switching from my recording of the Indians game (Yay!) around the 7th inning stretch for a change of pace.

Were we actually expecting Majo to have an adult reaction to Andrés’ news. OF COURSE she blamed his parents for doing what was legally appropriate in response to being defrauded. And, of course, she later deleted photos of her father from her computer and tried to get Vicente to come sooth the big baby.

Wow, Benji was pretty scary. Well, Angie and Jorge both already know what she did. Maybe he could tell her little cabal of girlfriends who were tormenting Angie at the school about what she did.

Stella gets more delusional by the minute. She mentioned the tried and true use of a cojín (cushion) under her clothes to simulate a pregnancy. I’m going to be really disgusted if Manuel believes her after whatever show she’s planning to put on when he comes over.

Yes, Angie's attitude toward her dad is softening, while Majo's denial about her dad's crime is weakening. It is interesting how the two sisters' polarized attitudes are starting to move toward the middle.

novelera - I could be wrong about Vicente saying "sure" when Ale asked him to help her whisper answers during the test if she forgot anything. I've erased the episode, so cannot go back and look. No doubt the upcoming episodes will reveal all with her plan to cheat.

Wow, the captcha verification has really gotten bizarre and tedious.


 

Silvana sin Lana - Wednesday, October 26 - Capítulo 68, part 1/2

Only 4 out of the 5 parts were uploaded to Telemundo’s website so hopefully someone can fill in the missing details.

Majo won’t talk to Chivis. She just wants to be alone.

Trini is very annoyed with Margarita and takes it out on poor Don Benito. She threatens to not have anything to do with him anymore if he doesn’t talk to his granddaughter.

Lucha tells Manuel about possibly being president of the student association. Andrés calls to tell her that he told Majo about her dad conning his dad. He also says te quiero mucho (I care for you very much) and she replies yo tambien (me too).

Manuel and Chivis have another adorable balcony scene.

Stella and Dom prepare to pretend that Stella is sick, thinking that Manuel is stopping by with food. It’s actually Juanito though and Stella gets rid of him quickly. She calls Manuel while he’s still talking to Chivis on the balcony. El rey de Roma, nariz asoma (speak of the devil).

Stella tries to make him feel guilty but he’s not falling for it. He ends up hanging up on her.
She threatens to raise Dom’s rent if he doesn’t help her make Manuel believe that she really is pregnant.

Don Benito wants to talk to Margarita but she keeps making excuses that she and Poncho were just about to watch a movie. He finally sends both of them to their rooms like they are little children and says he and Margarita will talk in the morning.

Dom accidentally talks too much again and gives ideas to Stella on how to pretend to be pregnant. She plans to buy baby things and estambre (yarn) to start knitting baby clothes.

Jorge texts Angie that he left her a present at the door. It’s a hammer and a ridiculously large spike, in case she wants to spy on him. They text that they’ll dream about each other.

Lupita joins Majo in her bed since she can tell she’s angry. Majo won’t tell her why though.

Poncho heads downstairs for a glass of water and Don Benito almost hits him with a bat. He wants to make sure Poncho doesn’t go near Margarita’s room.

The next day, Manuel is upgrading the cable package at home, as well as for the vecinas (neighbors). Vicente teases him about his gift. Ale calls Vicente and they make plans to study. Manuel wants to know if Ale is a man or woman.

Poncho runs off with his breakfast since Don Benito is still holding the bat. He tells Margarita that she is acting bad and he didn’t raise her like that. She admits that she’s been acting up but she doesn’t know why. He advises her to forget about Jorge and move on, even though it hurts.
 

Silvana sin Lana - Wednesday, October 26 - Capítulo 68, part 2/2

Trini tells Angie that Margarita won’t bother her anymore since she talked to Don Benito. Angie tells her that she’s not worried anyway, and that she’s Jorge’s girlfriend now. Trini doesn’t get why Angie likes the cabeza de brocoli (broccoli head; referring to his hair) since he’ll just end up working in a fish market. Chivis interrupts Trini’s classism to remind her that she also works there. Lupita finally gets annoyed that Chivis hasn’t been answering her and yells when do I get to go see my dad?!

Part 4 of the episode is missing, so now we are suddenly at the terminal and Vicente has just found out that Stella is (supposedly) pregnant with Manuel’s baby. Manuel tells him not to believe her since she has lied so much and the math doesn’t add up.

Poncho again offers his last name since Manuel obviously doesn’t believe her or love her and the baby is not his anyway. She refuses again and is annoyed when Dom tries to talk her out of the plan for the millionth time.

Majo visits AJ in prison and asks why he conned her future in-laws. She is angry. She defended him from day one, but she won’t do it anymore. She will never forgive him. He tries to play the victim again and she sets him straight – his family is the victim in all of this, not him. She wants him to know that he has lost her and that she doesn’t want to see him again. He only has one daughter left now since Angie doesn’t want to see him either.

At school, Angie is sad thinking about her dad and how she’s the last one left who hasn’t visited AJ yet. Jorge offers to go with her. Smoochies on the staircase. Margarita sees them as they leave.

Manuel suggests to Chivis that they escape together so she can relax a little and get away from everything. Chivis wonders if he’s inviting her to a hotel.
 

Silvana. Excellent recap as usual, J. Regarding secion 4, here goes, though I'm not very good at it. Lupita and Chivis chat. Chivis agrees to take her to the prison to see AJ that afternoon. Lupita is VERY happy, and then asks MJ why she is so sad. The girls leave and Trini and Chivis talk very briefly. At the terminal Dom, Poncho and Vicente are talking. Vicente teases Poncho. Poncho tries out a deeper voice to try to be taken more seriously. Dom says it doesn't work, and gives him tips on being a more effective speaker. [It kind of reminds me of a teaching seminar I attended last August]. Trini and Chivis talk about AJ and his crimes. Trini suggests plastic surgery! so no one will know they're related to AJ. Trini is upset that the wedding is off because she had been counting on Andrés's money. Chivis is horrified. Trini blames Manuel for Chivis's attitude. Chivis lets her know she's had enough with her foolishness. They then discuss Lupita's visit to AJ. Chivis decides to go ahead and take her. At the terminal Stella is knitting and talking to Dom? and then Manuel. Manuel tells her to drom the topic of her pregnancy. That's when Vicente arrives and Stella tells him about her "pregnancy."
 

Silvana. Now for some comments. It was very clever of Manuel to send Juanito with the food Stella requested. Also, once again, it's a very reasonable request to go to the ob/gyn with her to test for the "pregnancy" and later test to see if the "child" is his. Don Benito sends Margarita and Poncho to their rooms like little children because they are acting like little children. Is that cable upgrade a hint to Telemundo viewers? I'm glad MJ finally confronts AJ and makes him understand how he hurt his family and has now lost even her support. She's probably the one person he'd believe.

Thanks so much for the recap, J. It was another gem, even though the Telemundo web site let you down!

If it weren't for my friends here, I'd probably fast forward through half this show. I enjoy the core cast - the two families in the duplex. I must say that the Majo actress really showed her chops last night. She was excellent in the prison scene. But the Stooges are getting on my last nerve. I don't think I've ever seen a novela with the sheer amount of time spent on scenes resembling the Keystone Kops of yore. The actor portraying Stella has the worst voice I've ever had to suffer through, chipmunk doesn't do it credit. Not to mention Stella bullying Dom about everything, including Yorkie 2.0. Hours and hours of this novela are wasted on this crap in the place of plot progression.

After all of Margarita's machinations, I guess I'm just in mean mode about her. I was disappointed Trini didn't outright tell DB exactly what she did. And I enjoyed her miserable face, having seen Angie and Jorge kissing at school. Speaking of that, am I that old? Kissing at school in my day was unthinkable. So unthinkable that I don't even know what the punishment would have been since no one dared to do it.

I think the Chivis/Manuel scene was a red herring. The way Manuel has behaved throughout, I don't think he was inviting her to a motel.

Tonight is book club. I will probably watch when I get home. If there are no other volunteers today, I'll put up something brief.

Man, they really eat a lot of carbs on this show! I guess the paleo/ gluten free/ insert name of restrictive food trend here hasn't reached the barrio! Fruit and croissants or rolls for breakfast, pitchers of juice, endless pastries from the bakery..Luckily it seems to balanced out with lots of fish ;)
Always amuses me how families with kids are portrayed on tv, especially breakfast scenes at home. Everyone dressed (and the grown women suitably manicured/ hair blown out/ in full makeup & jewelry) and seated around the dining table eating fruit salad, etc. Ummm, not any family that I know.

I don't even know if anyone dared try to kiss at our high school, back before electricity was invented. We weren't even allowed to wear pants to high school, skirts could be no shorter than two inches above the knee, etc. etc. etc.

I am so ready for Alvin & the Chipmunks to get their act together. Stella is nuts and I am just so over her and her sidekicks.

I know what you mean novelera - I tend to skip some scenes with the Three Stooges if I've already read the recap because they are exhausting and annoying sometimes. I love most of the characters and their interactions but I wish more exciting things would start happening!

Jude Gray, I've noticed the same. Who has that much food on their table for breakfast?? And who actually has time to eat together?

Doris! I forgot about no pants allowed in high school! I also remember that, in elementary school, my mom would help me put on my snow pants - under my skirt, but I had to struggle out of them and my boots after walking to school because we could only wear skirts, even if it was 5-degrees below and/or snow up to our waists. [Walking to school - what a concept. I don't think my granddaughter EVER did.]

Many thanks, J, for producing another excellent recap, in spite of the difficulties Telemundo put in your way. I'm sorry these thanks come a bit late, but today has been crazy for me, and this is the first time I've been at my computer. I certainly agree with everyone's lack of enthusiasm (to put it mildly) for the Three Stooges. At times, though, I find myself wondering what each of these three actors might be like in a different sort of role. For example, would Marimar Vega still have such a grating voice if she weren't playing an intolerable character like Stella? [OMG, in looking at IMDB to check on who plays Stella, I found out that this past December Marimar Vega married Luis Ernesto Franco, i.e., Rodrigo in Bajo el mismo cielo!! Yikes! So she must have a different voice in Real Life.]

I'm wondering, too, about there being 120 episodes in Silvana sin lana. I can't imagine how the writers could possibly fill 50+ more episodes.

Wow, the Stella actress is married to the guy who looks just like my orthopedic surgeon. Her voice as this 'naca' is truly chipmunk-like. It's a chattering...I can't make out most of what she says.
I have to admit, I'm tiring greatly of this telenovela. We seem to just go round and round in circles. Carlos Ponce is the only person keeping me watching, but even his charms may have their limits!
 

So grateful for the excellent recaps. Appreciate the detail Juanita and Doris,if that was your initial outing hope it isn't the last by any means. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is the first Telemundo novela I've ever watched and...it is different. A little stingy on the settings and locales. I missed the very first episodes but am guessing there was a huge mansion involved. That being said, I don't find their current living circumstances exactly "pobre." I agree with Jude about Carlos Ponce. Never saw or heard of him before but he's definitely a charmer and what is keeping me tuned in. The story line is incredibly repetitive in the main with a lot of what seems like filler. Also, I guess I tuned in too late to be able to figure out the relationships the girls have with the respective novios. I'm ready for The Carlos Ponce character to go ahead and help everyone live happily ever after. Fini
