Lupita sees Vicente being kissed by Alejandra, laughs a bit at this, and leaves. This makes Vicente very uncomfortable. He moves away from Ale and wants to focus on studying. Like the typical telenovela “other woman” Ale is too forward. She tells him she lives a long way away and asks him to take her home and maybe stay over! He tries to wiggle out, saying he’s got a lot to do, not to mention having to get up at 3:00 AM to go to work.
Lucha comes home before Ale has left. She has him come toward the kitchen and tells him that Majo and Andrés are getting married next week.
Angie approaches her sister in the bathroom and tells her she doesn’t want her to be the unhappiest bride ever. She tells Majo she can see how unhappy she is. She gets right to the point and asks her if she’s in love with Andrés. Majo’s response is to say that there are lots of couples they know who get married without being in love, have children, and are happy the rest of their lives. She asks Angie if she thinks their mother was in love when she got married. Angie replies that their mother at least THOUGHT she was in love. Then she asks her if she’s in love with Vicente.
Poncho, up to his eyeballs in self-pity is leaving Don Benito’s house. Margarita doesn’t want him to leave. She tells him she likes having him there; without him it will be boring. Full of drama Poncho tells DB that his cycle here is over. He’s in a bad way and needs to leave the Terminal. He doesn’t want to see his co-workers, much less the woman who doesn’t love him back.
We see Stella yank the cushion out of the front of her pants. [Considering how tight they’ve been all through the novela, I’m surprised she fit it in there.] Dominique is, once again, trying to get her to see reason. He says she needs to get her aura cleansed. Stella says that what she needs is to murder Poncho. Dom then asks her if he should shop for a straight jacket for her. He also reminds her that, Poncho notwithstanding, Manuel never believed she was pregnant with his child. ¿Cuando vas a pegar el trancazo? (Bar that door for good.) “This man doesn’t love you; I know it’s hard, but you need to accept it.”
Stella yells that she won’t accept it. Manuel is her man, and while she’s alive she’ll keep fighting for him. She tells Dom to remember that he’s a good man; he won’t leave her stuck with this kid. Dom, at his wits end: “But you aren’t having a baby!” Stella: “But Manuel doesn’t know that. I’ll be the martyr. And he’ll come around, he’ll come around!”
The annoying Ale asks who María José and Andrés are, inserting herself into the conversation between Vicente and Lucha. They don’t answer her. When Vicente is obviously hustling her out of there, she gets angry, saying that she got the message. He should look for help with his studies elsewhere.
María José tells Angie that, in her mind, love and marriage don’t have anything to do with each other. Angie: “Just listen to yourself!” Angie goes on to tell her sister that she was the one who convinced her to give Jorge another chance. MJ says she needs to help the family. Angie: “But no one is asking you to make this sacrifice!” Majo jokes that she’ll be the “Sugar Auntie” to Angie and Jorge’s beautiful children. Angie replies that she’d live under a bridge so Majo could be happy.
Sara del Carmen shows up to discuss the job as housekeeper for Chivis and family. They agree on her working full time. [Must be selling a whole lot of fish!] Chivis says that her mother really needs this help. Trini comes home, takes one look at SdC and faints.
Stella is lounging on the sofa, refusing to go to zumba class with Dominique. She tells him she’s learned from telenovelas that true love always triumphs. Dominique imitates Jennifer’s Cuban accent and takes off for the class.
We see a one-sided conversation of Rafael at his law office. Something about asking someone for all the money he’s owed.
Sara del Carmen throws a full glass of water on Trini to wake her. [Boy did I enjoy this!] Trini asks her to go into the kitchen while she babbles on to Chivis about a servant not really being necessary, especially one so low class. When this isn’t working she tells her daughter that SdC was Benito’s lover. Chivis roars with laughter, accusing her mother of being jealous. Trini is in such a state that her wig is askew, revealing some dark hair at the nape of her neck. She says to Chivis ¡Don Benito me importa un reverendo rábano! [He doesn’t mean a radish to me or I don’t give a hoot about him.]
Poncho is on his motorcycle, wearing his bat-eared helmet, looking very sad, while La Habanera from Bizet’s Carmen is playing in the background. He’s not paying attention, and hits a guy on a bicycle [doesn’t appear to have hurt him] and then loses control of the bike and goes off a low bridge. Later we see the paramedics arrives.
Stella is on the sofa in a red silk kimono with bunny slippers on. We hear some oriental music. Manuel appears in a dark wig and fake moustache. He’s speaking in a bad French accent. He gives her a glass of Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1969 [thought that was red wine; he’s given her white]. Manuel says something about beating Poncho in the primaries. She asks if he means the election. He says he means primary school up to and including college.
Dominique is in this dream also. He tells her that Stellita has found out she’s the daughter of Steven, not of Manuel. Stella: “You mean my daughter is already born?” Dom: “Not only born, but grown!” Chivis comes out in a cheerleader’s outfit and doing a routine. Very funny! Stella freaks out at this. “Stellita” tells Stella she’s going to inherit her mother’s fortune and end up with her husband. At this she jumps into Manuel’s lap. Manuel grins at her lasciviously, and thanks Stella for choosing Steve as the father; the girl turned out to be very pretty! This causes Stella to wake up suddenly.
Vicente calls Majo while she and Angie are still talking in the bathroom. He tells her he wants her to tell him the news while he looks into those beautiful blue eyes.
Rafa comes to the prison to tell AJ their guy won. [I get the impression that what transpired was that the guys in the prison told AJ about a fixed mixed martial arts fight, and Rafael bet on it.] They won enough to bail AJ out, and he could be free as soon as tomorrow. AJ tells him that the fix was in, but God also helped him! Then he apologizes to the ceiling and promises to go to mass very soon. Rafael advises him to settle up with the people he defrauded. This would look good to the judge when he stands trial.
AJ shows his true colors once more. He says that, with money, things will be easier. Rafael, shocked, asks him if he’s now going to live off gambling. Rafael reminds him that he won this time and big. [Esta vez bailaste con la más bonita] But one bad bet and he’d end up in the street again. AJ says he’s always known how to make money. He says that a lot of people owe him favors, some big fish that need him to keep quiet.
Majo has come over to Casa Gallardo, and she and Vicente go into the back yard to talk. He looks very sad and mentions there being one week until the wedding. She says rather feebly that Andrés is the man with whom she’ll move away from here. She says he’s been very good to her. And, besides, they changed the date so many times.
Vicente tells her he believes it was postponed so many times because she doesn’t love Andres. Y porque yo todavía te muevo el piso [This doesn’t translate well into English. Literally, move the floor. But it means that she really, really has a thing for him.] MJ counters that for just that reason, that he does affect her, is why she’s marrying Andrés. She thinks she can be happy with him.
Vicente tells her he thinks he understands what’s happening. María José wants to have back the family she lost. He says that Andrés represents, in a way, what her father was until what happened happened. He thinks she’s under the illusion that, if she marries Andrés, she’ll have her old life back.
Vicente comes close and tells her she could depend on him. He won’t be able to marry her next week, but just give him some time. He’s studying, working. She tells him she doesn’t want him to try to improve himself for her. He tells her that she can’t say “I love you” to Andrés, only “I’m fond of you.”
Andrés tells his mother they’re getting married next week. She’s astonished. “How do you know she won’t change her mind two days before the wedding?’’ Then she angers Andrés by wondering if MJ is doing this so his father will withdraw the lawsuit. He says that, if it means staying away from his parents because of the legal stuff, he’ll do it. His mother sadly tells him that he’s making huge sacrifices for someone she doesn’t believe loves him.
Vicente tells MJ that there’s a huge difference between amar y querer. He also tells her a couple isn’t just having a big house full of luxuries. The problem will be when she says good night to her children and has to go to bed with the man who keeps her in luxury, a man she’s fond of but doesn’t love. He tells her that then she’ll feel like half a woman.
Pedrito gets his father concerned when he says he has a grave problem with Lupita. It turns out it’s only that he hates Lupita’s lemonade and can’t bring himself to tell her so.
Manuel gets a call from the hospital about Poncho.
Vicente is telling Majo he’s not going to let her make that terrible mistake of marrying Andrés. Manuel interrupts them, telling Vicente about Poncho being in the hospital and that they have to leave.

novelera - Thank you for the recap! I will be sure to watch this episode, just to see Stella's dream sequence. It sounds like fun.
You are correct that Chateau Lafitte Rothschild is a Bordeaux (red wine). The writers must be imbibing too much, themselves, to know the difference.
Andres' mother is such a sensible woman! Now to see if this wedding really happens. Somehow, I doubt it will, or if it does, it will never be consummated. Telenovela Rules say that a virgin ends up married to the guy to whom she gave it up (Vicente).
thanks so much novelera, for yet another wonderful recap!
hmm, in the english captions the word Dom used for what was wrong with Stella instead of aura was "chakra", interesting.
http://www.chopra.com/articles/what-is-a-chakra
Thanks so much, novelera, for this wonderful recap. I confess that I was totally at a loss during Stella's dream sequence. For one, I didn't even recognize Manuel. I'll have to go back now and take another look. I tend not to pay a lot of attention to scenes involving one or more of the Three Stooges, but still....
I really appreciated your including those Spanish phrases. I was going to look up ¿Cuando vas a pegar el trancazo?, but thanks to you I don't have to. I thought I had understood Vicente's Y porque yo todavía te muevo el piso as being the Spanish equivalent of the slang English expression "the earth moved," but apparently it's considerably tamer. Thanks for translating it.
I wish I had a little sympathy for Poncho, but it's long gone. I kept wondering while he was on his motorcyle whether the Habanera from Carmen in the background was relevant (as the Wedding March and The Ride of the Valykyries have been). I guess in a way it may be, since Carmen is saying "When will I love you? I don't know. Perhaps never, perhaps tomorrow, but definitely not today" and also "If you don't love me, I'll love you, but if I love you, look out!"
Oh, I so hope Rafa's warning about one bad bet and AJ will wind up back out on the street turns out to be true. If this weren't a light-hearted comedy, I'd wonder whether the "big fish" who want AJ to keep his mouth shut might shut it for him permanently, but I doubt that will happen here.
Anyway, everyone except Lupita and Pedrito seem to be getting into the act to throw doubt into both Andrés' and Majo's minds about whether they should marry. And who knows? Even Lupita may have something to say about it.
I'm looking forward to tonight's episode.
I wonder if Andres' father will turn out to be the big fish or one of the blackmail victims if that's the road AJ goes down. It might give MaJo a convenient excuse for not marrying Andres if so.
That dream sequence was ridiculous. I thought it was ME who had dozed off and was dreaming!
the biggest event of the night for me was when Vicente quietly/firmly swore to MaJo he would not let her marry Andres, (make that mistake), he would stop the wedding.
Just popping in to say hello between trips. I did a marathon run of Silvana and Vino and now I'm off again for several days. However, thanks to the wonderful recaps (I read every word), it feels complete. It has been a joy to read them and the comments.
I didn't think Sara del C. was being contracted full time. Chivis already said she only needed a maid for two days a week (still, a big bite out of her fish salary). I interpreted it to mean she wouldn't be a live-in maid, as many servants in C.A. and S.A. are, but I could be wrong.
Originally, when Chivis was telling Trini about getting some help, she talked about 2 or 3 days a week. Thus, I was surprised when she interviewed Sara del Carmen and talked about tiempo completo - full time.
You are probably right, novelera. I thought there was something like "de planta" mentioned and Chivis assured her no, she wouldn't have to live there. My misinterpretation.
Oh what utter fantasy! Chivis was left with no income, she has five mouths to feed including her own, and she sells fish to people having parties, yet she can afford full-time help for her (immaculate, small) home? Beanie hats, assemble!
Poncho's wreck will probably land him in the hospital, thus fulfilling a Telenovela Rule. If he wears a neck brace, then it's a two-fer. 😜
Stella's dream sequence was a hoot. I did not recognize Manuel and had to rewind. Chivis as Stella's fresa cheerleader daughter cracked me up. They were all great in that scene!
As if we didn't already know that Stella is loca, the episode opens with her talking to her dog as if he's a person. She complains to him about Poncho's betrayal--his telling Manuel about Steve. She informs the dog that Poncho is his father figure, although his real father is Manuel. FF>>
Manuel and Vicente arrive at the hospital and ask about Poncho's condition. They're told he's in intensive care, but that only the doctor can give them more information. The person at the desk suggests they have a seat and be patient. Interestingly, Manuel is more worried, more emotional, while Vicente is more in control and tries to calm his father and assure him that Poncho is young and strong, he'll be OK. [Manuel has taught him well.]
Trini marches into Don Benito's bakery. He's happy to see her, but she parades right past him to the back of the bakery. She returns with some flour, which she tosses in his face. Rather than telling her to get lost, DB pleads with her to tell him why she's angry with him. She finally accuses him of letting his lover work in her house. She calls him a dirty old man (viejo degenerado, puerco), announces that she doesn't want to hear anything more from him, and leaves in a huff. Instead of being angry, he's pleased, claiming that her behavior is proof that she likes him. [Sigh]
Back at Stella's, Dom returns all enthused from his zumba class. He tries to cheer Stella up. There's more idiocy over Francisco Javier (FJ). Dom seems about to confess that FJ is really FJ II when the phone rings. Stella sees that the call is from Vicente, and she's sure that Manuel asked him to call her because he misses her. Instead, Vicente tells her about Poncho's accident. We next see Stella and Dom arrive at the hospital. She sees Manuel and tries to hug him. He pulls her off him. He then assures Stella and Dom that Poncho is conscious, and although he has some contusions and fractures, he's basically OK. Manuel notices Stella's stomach and asks where her big belly went (La panza. ¿Qué pasó? ¿Se te fue?) She tries to explain in Stella-speak.
Stella's bizarre explanation is interrupted by the arrival of Poncho in a wheelchair, with a neck brace and both arms in casts. He announces, "Here I am, alive and kicking" (vivito y coleando). The doctor explains that he is doing well, but he'll need rest and help with some everyday things, such as going to the bathroom. The scene then shifts to a hospital bathroom. Dom is standing outside the stalls, holding a roll of toilet paper and waiting unhappily for Poncho to need his assistance.
Angie and Chivis are sitting at the dining table. Majo passes by in the background and heads up the stairs. She declines an offer to join Angie and Chivis, saying she'd prefer to be by herself. Chivis is puzzled by Majo's response. Angie explains that Majo has advanced the date of the wedding to the following week. Astonished, Chivis asks why Majo did that. Angie tells her to go ask Majo. Chivis says that trying to get information from Majo is very difficult (hay que sacarle las cosas con pinzas - literally, one has to extract things with tweezers). Chivis knows that Angie doesn't want to divulge her sister's private matters, but Chivis needs to know more in order to help Majo. Finally, Angie tells her that she thinks Majo doesn't want to get married, and that Majo is marrying "for us. To help us financially." Chivis is astonished and appalled. She's about to go upstairs to talk with Majo, but she pauses to ask one more question: "Maria José is in love with Andrés, yes?" Angie replies that Chivis should ask Majo.
Chivis asks Majo why she has advanced the wedding date. Majo replies "Because I'm crazy, I change my mind every two seconds." Chivis rejects this explanation, saying that Majo has matured a lot. Majo asks if that's the case, why doesn't Chivis accept her decision as the correct one. "Correct for whom?" asks Chivis. Chivis replies, "For Andrés, for his family, for us." [She doesn't say "for me"]. Chivis and Majo continue to discuss the issue, and finally Majo says "I need to change my life now!" She contines, "The last thing I need is for my father to be free the day of my wedding and then the same thing happens to me as happened to Lupita on her First Communion. I'd die!" Chivis finally asks her: "Do you love Andrés?" Majo replies, "Obviously. Andrés has been and will be the love of my life." "It's not so obvious," Chivis replies. Their discussion continues for quite a while. Not once does Majo say "I love Andrés." Chivis assures Majo that she loves her, and that the day of her wedding, Chivis will be the first to congratulate her and wish her the best of everything, but she also wants her to be very happy. Mother and daughter have a long, tender embrace.
Angie is at Jorge's, preparing with him for their upcoming math exam. Jorge is unhappy; he's not very good at math. Manuel and Vicente return from the hospital. Vicente asks Angie whether Majo is at home. She says yes. Vicente then goes upstairs to rest. Jorge notes that Vicente looks unhappy, and Angie explains that Majo has advanced the wedding date to next week. Jorge is puzzled, and says that women are even more difficult to understand than mathematics. Angie goes upstairs to talk with Vicente. He tells her that if she's come to ask about math, he's forgotten everything. She says she has come to talk about her sister, Majo. Remember her? "How could I forget," he replies. "From the first day I saw her, I said "She's the one." Angie says "That's why I want to talk to you. She's unable to leave Andrés in spite of the fact that she loves you. She loves you and is in love with you" (Te ama y está enamorada de ti, te lo juro). She goes on to say that she doesn't want Majo to marry Andrés because she knows Majo will not be happy. Andrés is a great guy, but not for her. Vicente assures her that he's the one who least wants Majo to marry Andrés. "OK," says Angie, "you're the only one who can convince her not to do it." The Vicente-Majo theme music is heard in the background. He insists that she won't listen to him (No me pela), that he has tried, but she's very stubborn. Angie pleads with him to try again, no, not try, swear to me that you'll succeed (Jurame que lo vas a conseguir).
Poncho, still with his neck brace and both arms in casts, is at Stella's. He explains that he wanted to leave everything and wanted to go up north. Eventually, the Three Stooges reconcile. Stella feeds Poncho. FF>>
It's night. Majo and her sisters are in bed. She receives a text from Vicente. "Princesa, I'm the toad who becomes a prince. I just need you to confess your love in order to break the spell and we can be happy forever." A second messge urges her to "stop deceiving yourself and listen to your heart." She kisses her phone as a third message arrives: "Te amo". She texts back: "Yo también te amo".
Since we're apparently not yet in últimas semanas, there must be an interruption. Lupita wakes up, asks Majo whether she's awake, and comes climbing into Majo's bed to tell her about the great dream she's just had: "I dreamed that they freed my papá and we made a party." Lupita asks Majo whether she was dreaming about Andrés. Holding Majo in her arms, Majo replies "Yes, I was dreaming about Andrés," while she's looking at the messages on her phone.
Chivis and Manuel are on their balconies. Chivis is nervous about their plans to spend the day at the beach. She doesn't want to lie to her daughters. Manuel proposes ways around this, but she's still uneasy. She says that when she lies, people can tell. Her nose turns red. He urges her that for one day, they leave the problems at home and think of ourselves. "We deserve it." He also urges her not to be a prude (mojigata). What we're doing is not a sin, and when we get back, you can confess to Padre Sanchez. Manuel finally proposes that they're going to Key West for business, and that the romance on the beach is a spur of the moment idea.
Vicente rings the bell at Andrés's house. Andrés greets him with "What are you doing here?" Vicente urges Andrés not to marry Majo: "She's not in love with you. I know her, and I know what I'm talking about." Andrés claims that Vicente is simply jealous and disappointed that Majo chose Andrés, not him, and that he (Andrés) loves her. Vicente replies, "But she's not in love with you." Vicente finally agrees to leave. He doesn't want problems or quarrels with Andrés. In leaving, he urges Andrés: "Think about what I've said. Listen to me. Later on, you'll thank me."
Stella tries again to put a cushion on so that Poncho will continue to think she's pregnant. FF>>
Sara de Carmen arrives at Chivis' to start her first day of work. The girls greet her warmly, but Trini is insufferable. When Sara says "Señora Trini. Buenas Dias. ¿Cómo está?" Trini replies coldly, "Don't ask me things that aren't relevent since you scarcely know me. What do you care about how I am?"
[So much for Trini's upper-class good manners. Even Chivis tells her mother to behave herself.] After the girls and Chivis leave, Trini first tells Sara she should wear an apron, and then tells her to serve her breakfast, "and when you speak to me, look at the floor, because I don't like it when you look me in the face." [Wow! Between throwing flour in DB's face and being an unmitigated perra to Sara, I wonder how/whether Trini will be redeemed at the end.]
The scene shifts to the university, where there's a rally for Lucha as candidate to be president of the med students' association. With a bullhorn in hand, Lucha talks about how painful it is to see sick people, immigrants, children, the elderly, and workers who don't have enough money to pay for their own doctor's appointments, let alone pay for medical insurance for their families. She says that as medical students, we have to work to bring about change, so that one day, health care will not be a privilege but a right for all. [She's got my vote.] She says that right now, that's just a dream, one we can't bring about by ourselves, but as future doctors, we can open the way and strive to accomplish great things. Andrés is among the people at the rally, and he's clearly impressed.
The episode ends at the prison. We see AJ striding toward the open fence and taking a very contented breath of air once he's free.
Apologies once again for this recap being so late. I'm finding this site increasingly difficult to deal with. I kept getting error messages when I tried to post, even after I had placated the word-count nazi. And if I see one more store front or street number, I think I will turn into a robot. :-(
I also see some formatting and other errors that I might have caught had I been allowed to Preview and then Publish. But that turned out not to be possible, so I was posting sight unseen. Sigh.
I won't try to mention all the errors that I see in the recap, but I do want to correct one. In the third line of the first paragraph of Parte 2, it says "Chivis replies" where it should say "Majo replies."
Thanks for the recap Juanita! You did a great job. Andres really is clueless. So many people have warned him about Majo and he's too stubborn to admit he likes Lucha. I really hope he's the one who calls off the wedding! (I really don't think they will actually get married.)
I'm pretty sure Majo erased her "yo tambien te amo" message when Lupita interrupted her so she never actually sent it to Vicente.
Can't wait for tonight's episode!
Muchas gracias, SpanProf and J. SpanProf, I agree that the Three Stooges really are a family. I wonder how the dynamic will change if Poncho gets his heart's desire. Hmmm...that may be another reason for its not happening.
J, you're right about Majo's erasing her "yo también te amo" message when Lupita called out to her. And yes, Andrés sure is clueless, but he did seem to be thinking about what Vicente said. He closed the door a bit more slowly than one might expect, and he walked away from the door slowly, as if he were thinking about something. And he did seem to be impressed with Lucha at the pep rally for her (though not nearly as enthusiastic as Mauro was, poor guy).
I'm wondering how many episodes we have left to go. I saw this in part because Sin Senos is now in últimas semanas, but no similar announcement has been made about Silvana. And we've been getting previews of La Doña, which will follow Sin Senos, but nothing about La Fan. So it may be that Martres turns into Mardos or perhaps even Maruna. ??
[Geez, it took me 6 screens to get past the [expletive deleted] captcha. :-( ]
Juanita - thank you for the recap!
Poncho's neck brace was predictable, but that thing for his arms ..... who saw that coming? Yipes! And poor Dom, having to serve as his bathroom attendant. Oy vey!
Now that AJ is free, it ends one of Majo's reasons for delaying her marriage to Andres --- not having her father give her away. Nonetheless, I just don't see this marriage happening.
I wonder if AJ will try to move in with Chivis et al now that he is free and no longer in hiding? That would really put a damper on the Key West trip.
Many thanks, doris. Yes, AJ's release really does complicate matters. I can just see it now, the con man leading his daughter down the aisle to deliver her to the son of folks he conned. Arrgh.
And poor Chivis. The damper on the Key West trip may be the least of her problems if AJ decides to move in. And I imagine that moving in is what he has in mind. For starters.
We're supposed to get 120 episodes of Silvana. Tuesday's capítulo 72 was episodes 87-88 out of 153 of the original so there's still a lot more to go. (Each episode of Pituca sin lucas was only 25 minutes long.)
So far the latest rumor is that La Doña starts November 29 at 9pm, with El Chema possibly starting the same day at 10pm since Señora Acero should be done by then as well. I haven't heard anything at all about La Fan, but I'm assuming it will start in January when Silvana should end - unless they plan on using the afternoon slot(s) like they did with Quién es Quién.
Thanks very much, J, for the info. So what ever happened to Martres, which had been announced as occurring on Nov. 22? Then again, these are the folks who gave us the Three Stooges...so anything is possible as long as it doesn't make much sense. :-)
How I wish I had time to thoroughly read your terrific recap, Juanita! And time to comment. But I have an INSANE amount of work to get done today and can't really spend any time writing anything. I did read Part 1 and thought your wit and humor were in especially good form!
J - I wouldn't be surprised (but I would be disappointed) if this show gets moved to the afternoon slot if T'mundo wants the prime time slot for something else.
Many thanks, novelera, for taking time from what sounds like a horrendous schedule to read part of the recap and comment. I'm often amazed at how you're able to do so much in addition to writing terrific recaps.
doris, you won't be the only disappointed person if Telemundo moves Silvana to the afternoon.
Cata and Vale linger with the sleazy old cripple guy in a backroom hole in shanty town talking guns and killing, he wheedles out them that is is Diabolita Daniela they want to kill, no love of his since it was Mugroso moving into his territory that got him crippled, but in the end he won and takes a cut of all of the action here,
he explains to Cata the consequences of killing, one, she would probably be the next to die and two, once you kill, some people like it, he offers to do the job for $40,000, half down now, but wait Cata doesn't have that much on her, and he can't get one of his guys, so Cata settles for the guns, but wait, have you ever used a gun before?
so in his small back yard he educates Cata and Vale, will the neighbors mind? nah, and after all the bottles are broke and some high fives Cata and Vale rush off in one of those three wheeled moto taxis to the cemetery.
where Yesica has arrived with the Capitan only to find Daniela there, who the Capitan can't seem to hurry along, and after the arrival of an unknown car (Marcial and Chuky) Yesica has the Capitan call for backup.
Anibal has sent his guys to crack the safe and get his pre-nup, while he lusts after Daniela, drooling over the 50% of Yesica's money he will get.
at Daniela's car Cata appears, Hernan inside dives down on the seat and gets an earful, Cata accuses Daniel of bombing her house and killing Adriana (I don't think Daniela knows anything about it) and what if I did, she puts a hard face forward, to be grabbed with a gun to the back of her head by Cata, the Capitan who has floated over draws his gun on Cata, to be followed by Vale placing her gun at the back of his head, as various other people also draw.
Hernan makes it out the far door of the car not being seen and Marcial and Chuky pop up guns drawn, not wanting any harm to come to his daughter Daniela, asks Cata to lower her gun...
Cata then Vale are distracted, their guns are grabbed, Daniela orders the Capitan to kill them, Marcial says no, the Capitan offers to have his men escort them away (and we all know how that would go)
so Hernan grabs Daniela, gets all to lower their guns, re-arms Cata and Vale, pushes Daniela away, they make their escape in Daniela's car.
ditching the car they kiss, Vale can see them double dating now, asks about Pipe... oops, he's dead.
Yesica oversees the funeral, but can't do anything without revealing herself.
Anibal's guys can't open the safe, Yesica wonders who he is talking to, tells the Capitan to tap his phone.
Marcial is unable to reconcile with Daniela, she blows him off.
wondering where to hide, Vale tells Hernan about the papers Pipe left with her for him.
Daniela wants Cata found before she spends the night with Hernan, Anibal calls the Capitan, suggests they can be found at Adriana's funeral the next day.
Hilda breaks though Alberio's anger, asks him to hear Cata out, not to judge her, he says he will, but later asks how expensive Cata's phone is.
Martina has offered Titi a place to stay, they spend the day in bed, there is a knock on the door, Gato is back in town, she plays like she is not at home, he shoots the lock on the door and walks in.
Repeat scene of AJ walking out of the jail. Rafael arrives to pick him up.
Don Benito tries to send a message through Whatsapp and he ignores Jaunito trying to talk to him. Juanito discovers that Don Benito doesn’t even have the app on his phone and offers to just go deliver the message he wanted to send to the person. Don Benito says it’s none of his business. (He never mentions who the person is.)
Trini orders Sara to clean each room in the house, making more of a mess to give her more work. She even has a bell to call for her.
Andres catches up with Lucha at the university. She apologizes for what she said about him getting married. He is not mad. He liked her speech since it reminded him how important his job as a doctor is. She was a little bothered seeing him in the crowd since he was the only profe and the one who is the closest to her and the farthest away at the same time. She mentions that they have miradas opuestas (opposing views) but he disagrees. He agreed with everything she said and would vote for her if he were a student. It reminded him of when they met and she was so passionate about healthcare. He admits that it made him scared since he had never met a woman who was so intelligent and different before and he wanted to know her better. Lucha changes the subject back to her campaign and tries to head off to class. Andres grabs her arm and says desde que te conozco, soy mejor persona (I’m a better person since I met you). Lucha replies yo también (me too) and leaves.
At the terminal, Poncho sits by Stella holding her yarn while she knits. He asks if she would reconsider giving the baby his last name. She doesn’t really answer but talks about how good of a person Poncho is and how she’s asked herself why she doesn’t fall in love with him. This gets Poncho’s hopes up, but in the end she said it just won’t happen because he’s like her brother.
Trini has bought a uniform for Sara who thinks it’s atrocious. She keeps ordering her around every 2 seconds.
Jorge goes to the bakery and Margarita is insufferable to him, complaining about Angie and Chivis. He ends up just leaving without his bread to get away from her.
The Villaseñors enjoy the pancakes Sara made for them. She is wearing the uniform that Trini bought but everyone thinks it wasn’t necessary, except Lupita who likes that it reminds her of her Barbies. Angie admonishes her grandmother for being so rude to Sara. Majo is really quiet and sad and admits she feels overwhelmed because she’s getting married very soon. She asks them all to hug her. The wedding will be small and not exactly what she dreamed of, but there’s nothing else she can do with everything that’s going on. Andres’ parents will also take care of everything.
AJ and Rafael have a drink in Rafa’s office. He reminds AJ that he’s only out on bail. AJ isn’t worried and thinks that he’ll be back with Chivis in their mansion in a few months. Rafa points out that betting is not exactly a surefire way to make money. AJ thinks it will be fine since it’s worked for the past 20 years.
Stella asks Manuel if he will still be her baby’s godfather. Then she asks if he will give it his last name. Manuel denies, of course, but she keeps begging and starts crying.
Trini continues being rude to Sara as she’s leaving for the day. Sara mentions stopping by to see Don Benito and Trini demands to see what’s in her purse to make sure she hasn’t stolen anything. Chivis thanks Sara again and after she’s gone, she reminds Trini that laws against abusive employers are strict in this country. Lupita starts harassing Trini about having competition for Don Benito. Luckily they are interrupted by a knock at the door. It’s the cable/internet guy there to install the triple pack that Manuel bought for them as a gift.
Stella keeps asking Manuel to talk to her about his kids, to join him at a yoga class, to give her a hug. He keeps telling her he has work to do, but finally relents and hugs hers – only to realize that her belly is a cushion. He pulls the cushion out and Stella remains speechless. Manuel laughs at her and Stella gets angry. He calls her crazy and she agrees that she is, but she still blames him for everything because she’s so in love with him.
Sara arrives at the bakery angry and complains about Trini to Don Benito. Margarita is happy to jump in and complain about the Villaseñors too. Don Benito yells at her but before leaving, she reveals that Don Benito defends Trini because he likes her. Sara is not happy to hear that.
Lucha tells Pedrito that he is better and can go back to school. He pretends that he is still sick but she knows he’s lying. He mentions that their dad said Lucha is just like their mother and Pedrito asks her to tell him about his mom. He also wants to know if their parents always got along. Lucha says yes, their dad didn’t even have to talk and their mom understood him. Pedrito then asks what she thinks of Chivis.
Vicente goes to talk to Majo at her house and tells her that he told Andres that she’s not in love with him, sine she wouldn’t dare to. He won’t stop fighting for her or stop trying to prevent her from getting married since all three of them would suffer. Majo is angry at him and says no one gave him the right to interfere in her life. He replies that she did when they made love. Of course Andres walks through the door at this exact moment and asks what he said.
Andres is livid and demands that Vicente repeat what he said. Majo tries to get Vicente to stay quiet and Andres to leave but Vicente admits that he and Majo tuvimos nuestros quereres (I’m guessing this is a euphemism for make love??). Majo tries to throw Vicente out but he won’t move. Andres asks if that’s why he told him not to marry Majo. Vicente says he would have never told him what he just heard; it was pura casualidad (pure chance/accident). Andres leaves and Majo follows him. She begs him to let him in the car. Vicente watches as they drive off, and returns home.
Lucha doesn’t understand why Pedrito is asking about Chivis. Pedrito thinks she has a sixth sense with people since she didn’t like Stella when she stayed with them and then Manuel broke up with her afterwards. Pedrito needs to know what Lucha thinks of Silvana but he won’t tell her why. Lucha admits that she ended up liking her once she saw how she fought for her children and worked hard at the terminal. Pedrito wonders if Chivis is looking for a boyfriend and Lucha teases him about being in love with her. Pedrito was referring to their dad. He’s afraid that he and Chivis will get married and he’ll have to call her mom and he doesn’t want to. Lucha assures him that no one will replace their mom, and that their dad and Chivis are only friends. Pedrito isn’t so sure.
Stella keeps begging Manuel to give her a chance and he keeps yelling no, no, no!
Sara wants Don Benito to spill it about liking Trini. Juanito backs him up, saying they have nothing in common and Don Benito doesn’t like her. Sara is happy to hear that and starts flirting with Don Benito, reminding him of when they were together. He points out that she broke it off when she moved to the north, but for her they are still together and she still loves him. She sits him down and starts massaging his shoulders. He seems more relaxed just as Trini walks into the bakery. He jumps up when he hears her voice and runs away from Sara.
Muchas gracias, J, for another excellent recap.
Well, things are starting to happen. AJ is out of jail (at least for now), Manuel discovers the truth about Stella's "pregnancy," and Andrés now knows about Vicente and Majo.
Hmmm...when AJ assures Rafa not to worry, that he (AJ) has been betting successfully for twenty years, are we to assume that that's the primary way he's been making all his money? And was it dirty bets where the fix was in, or is that a new phase of AJ's moneymaking career? Has he also been defrauding people for 20 years, or is that too a new development?
I keep moving the line in the sand that prevents me from hating Trini, but last night (and the night before) I think she crossed over it for good. What a perra!
I loved the scene where Manuel discovers the cushion!
Pedrito may claim that Lucha has a sixth sense, but in the matter of Chivis and Manuel, Pedrito is way ahead of her.
SpanProf, I too feel for Mauro. It will be interesting to see how the writers deal with him.
Thanks so much, J! I had missed the last few episodes, but saw this one. Juanita, yes, things are finally starting to happen.
I think both actors were having a hard time keeping a straight face during that scene between Manuel and Stella. :) So glad that nonsense is over with.
I have no idea what 6th sense Pedrito is speaking about either, because I think Lucha lets her prejudices rule her actions. It took forever for her to warm to Angie and Chivis, who are such great people, all because she couldn't get over her prejudices about "fresas" and her jealousy of Majo over Andres. In that family, Vicente and Manuel have the best sense about people, and have a genuine live and let live attitude about life.
J - Thank you for the recap!
Papi Chulo discovering Stella’s pillow was the best part of this whole episode. But he looked so surprised! QTH??? He knew she wasn’t pregnant and that her baby bump came and went.
What’s up with Andres just walking into Majo’s house without knocking? … other than the opportunity to hear Vicente’s last comment.
Trini was the most annoying, disgusting person in the world with the way she treated Sara. FFWD>>>
Margarita was also quite annoying. FFWD>>>
Mauro has a nice set of biceps on him. I don’t think he’ll be on the market long, once he sees Lucha won’t be his.
This week we had three serious shoot out of three main players, mom -son reunion at death crossroad, the heist, the rip off stalled, Cata as a pistol packing mama, a lot!!! So the end is coming!!!!
LOOSE ENDS, I have to rewind and look at chapters 60 plus to last night , cause the end is near: just a reflection on loose ends:
*The bar, jota’s wife got from pimp/ lover?? Where’s the money? But you can not pay for a funeral??
*Daniel’s career? How will it be redeemed? HE never went back on the world wide web???His best bet for vindication!
*The poor women whose daughter was Diabla’s cadaver surrogate, what’s up with the DNA evidence / blood set-up? And finger prints, e.t.c.?Who is going to review evidence? CID!!
*What happen to school?? The neighbors were correct when they commented those girls are out at all hours!
*Look what the rat dragged in, Titi andMarttina were laying in the cut ,when fat cat shows up!! He is a user and chicken hawk,Gatos Gordo sworn undying affection, until the heat was on and he hauled ass without a glance backwards, Cata could be dead for all his concern!
The issue of child sex traffic is the subtext of this novella. The female pimps/cha-cha putas and puta-Lindas are characterized by Martina, and the mothers!! Even Yessica’s mom.
How Yessica’s mom died on the table is predictable, but the cosmetic Surgeon is a greedy and stupid idiot, and the fall guy for the murdered mother or was it the coroner?? I cannot keep up with the body count, all of these incidental victims are getting to hard to inventory.
The captain, I afraid of him, he is a demon is training, but I think he is the one variable, that is the most deadly, I ‘m betting he is the death of Sra.Diabla!
The death of Granny is the signal of Yessie’s mental collapse!! When she went and shot the body..i knew,She is hitting up/ coking her ass –off, cause nobody can just slug down 5th of liquor, pop pills and stay up for days without being perricco /coked-up to the gills.
The poor neighbors and the beauty contest, I am sure this is a nod to the cultural obsession, but please, the movie and last novella really juiced that scenario!! But to see the losers shoot up the joint would be fun!!
Hernan Dario why does he duck every time he sees Cata?? Pipe is my man!!, but Valentina and the lesbian story line was a bold move, and considering the mature and honest and non-salacious presentation, thumbs up!
When he finally got the opening at the MEXICAN STAND OFF at the funeral
Anibal, he was really phishing when he offered Danila the options of sharing bed /shower?? If that girl was younger he was going to hit it! But he got the hots for that money!!
Poor Daniel’s girlfriend, after being tortured and buried, she is still hanging in there, they recognize her from the raid/CCTV and then so what??
What happen to Mugroso’s [head /face from fetal alcohol syndrome] criminal parents?? They cause, inadvertently, the death of Sra. Dario!!!Culpable!!
The DEA financed Marcia/ straw man buyer and in turn supplied Gatos Gordo, so where the cash!??!
The jail bird friends of Albierto and Hilda, what happen???
Alberto and Hilda may have Mal -feh” /bad luck /evil eye!! But damn if they don’t have 9 lives! That $50 grand, it ain’t doing much! Its shifting from panties to daisy dukes to almost getting ripped off by assassins [legless gun seller, who really don’t want the job really!! But they did learn how to shoot a nice piece, that snub-nosed was awesome!! A clean dick Tracy, a real beauty for a lady gun!
Jotas apartment, Hernan Dario home?? Daniel’s Rosa’s apartment/condo??The vacant spaces??
The clueless cleaning lady at Diabla’s house, can anyone be so obtuse!!! Who is she? Can she be the cops / DEA?!!! A mole/informant??? She has so many reasons to kill the she-Devil in a bodycon sheer top! Yes –she-can, Yessica is rocking those Lace-Body conform outfits!
doris, I too wondered about Andrés' barging in without knocking, so I went back and looked at the scene again. When Vicente comes in to see Majo, it looks as if she doesn't completely close the door. When Andrés comes in, he simply pushes on the door rather than putting his hand on the door knob. His hand is considerably above where the door knob is. To be polite, he should still have knocked, but apparently he didn't open a shut door.
Juanita - I wondered about that door but was in a hurry and did not rewind. Thanks! I would have knocked or called out before entering, but I'm not in a Telenovela. 😉
Deb, I appreciate your wonderful recaps.
Halima, too bad the script writers didn't have you helping them avoid plot holes and loose ends! Your comments are witty. And Diabla's outfits are awfully sheer.
--Mary
Just catching up on my recorded episodes now. I think if I was Sara, I'd have rammed that bell down Trini's throat.
