A Que No Me Dejas (AQNMD) #36. Monday October 31, 2016. Bumpy Transitions

Raquel and Alfonso convince Inés to fight for her part of her cheating husband’s moolah. She has the right to a comfortable life in her golden years, as well as financial security for her and her daughters. What if The Gonz disinherits Paulina for taking her mom's side?

The speech therapist and Pau explain to Mau that he'll have a new mom and pop soon. The kid is not happy to hear this and throws the cutest fit. He wants to live with Inés, Pau and Chelo.

Mónica invites her mom at her house for lunch. Elisa reminds her that, had she not thrown her dear devoted mother out, she wouldn't have had to worry about cooking. She also insists that whatever happens with The Gonz, marriage or no marriage, Mónica must not cede the Chetumal property back to him.

Pau takes Mau to Playa de las Tortugas and instead of focusing on the kid, she starts reminiscing about her fun beach activities with Adrián.

In Playa Linda, Gisela and Darío welcome Julieta and Jaime in the new house they rented for them. Darío wanted them to stay at his house but the Córdovas prefer to stay at a hotel until their furniture arrives from Puerto Esperanza. Julieta doesn’t thank Gisela and Darío for their kindness. Instead, she looks around the house with disdain and complains about the lack of furniture. Then she asks why Odette didn't join her welcome committee. Darío tells her that Odette is on a sabbatical year, traveling around the world. Jaime is hopeful that this new phase will mark a new start in his relationship with his wife.

At Playa de las Tortugas, back in Puerto Esperanza, Karen confides to Pau that she has decided to start dating Flavio. Pau is skeptical: How did her friend go from “I feel comfortable around the guy” to “I’m ready to get serious with him”? Karen says that not all relationships start with love at first sight. Pau reluctantly acquiesces in her friend’s decision: Whatever makes Karen happy as long as she doesn't settle for Flavio out of fear of loneliness. Pau turns her attention to Mau and tells him that, even though they won’t be with each other, they will have their memories to unite them forever. Nothing and nobody can take those away from them.

Licenciado Alcántara, the civil servant in charge of Mau’s adoption, explains to Camilo that there doesn’t seem to be any alternatives in the child’s case, given the current family circumstances. However, Camilo has an idea.

Elisa goes to see the real estate agent and tries to back out of the sale of the Chetumal property. No can't do, amiga! Cancel the sale and you'll have to pay a huuuge penalty! Says who? The contract, dummy! Always read what you sign!

Pau, Karen and Mau meet Mónica and her boys on the beachfront promenade. Pau wants to keep seeing her little brothers on a regular basis. No can't do, amiga! Not after the threats of your crazy sister! Pau assures Mónica that she is nothing like Nuria. René and Alan concur: Nuria is a witch while Pau is a princess! Pau also insists on spending more time with her brothers because Mau will be leaving soon and she wants him to have as many happy memories with his friends as possible. The child can’t be adopted by Pau’s parents because they are divorcing. Mónica’s ears perk up while Alan straight up asks Pau to convince their father to marry his mother. That's something that the adults will have to work out by themselves, interjects Karen. Pau keeps pleading with Mónica to allow her to maintain a relationship with René and Alan. If Pau were to have a child of her own, she wouldn’t want him to cross paths one day with his uncles without knowing that they are his blood relatives. Mónica finally yields. Yay! Happy happy, joy joy!

Adrián and Odette have arrived to Spain and there’s a Spain poster stuck on a wall to prove it. Bunnyboiler assures her victim that he'll have a grand old time here. Oh, dear! I know where this is going.

Back in Puerto Esperanza, Pau and Camilo are having a fun-tastic fun-tabulous time aboard a yacht. Adrián who? Camilo tells Pau he has a great idea about Mau's adoption. Oh, dear! I know where this is going.

Mónica reproaches The Gonz for not telling her that he's about to get divorced. He says that the process is only at its inception. Mónica is starting to realize that, even if he divorces Inés, he has no intention to marry her. She informs him that she’ll be taking the kids to Florida after the school year ends, and if his divorce is not finalized by then, she and her boys will be staying in the US for a while. Fine! FINE!

At Consorcio Murat, Bridezilla hands Leonel the wedding invitations for his parents and his friend Ariel. He says his parents are too busy and won’t be able to attend. I don't care, they must attend and I must know them! demands Bridezilla. She switches to the subject of where they'll be living after they get married. In Leo’s apartment, of course. Ariel is moving out. Oh, hell no! I demand a biiig brand new house! orders the overgrown brat. Sorry, Bridezilla, but I don’t have that at the moment! What my measly salary can offer you and your baby is an apartment. Hey, he’s your baby too! Don't you forget it or try to deny it! Leonel assures her he is well aware of that. Now, disappear! Mr. Peanut Butter & Slime has work to do.

Pau and Mau get back to Casa Murat. They encounter Inés in the garden. Pau tells her that she has just bumped into René and Alan and that she would like to have a relationship with her little brothers. Inés agrees. Those two boys are innocent creatures. What’s more, Inés would like to meet them, or at least have a photo of them to see what her husband’s children look like.

Alfonso notifies The Gonz that he is representing Inés in the divorce. He warns his ex-BFF not to try to hide some of his properties or use a straw man/ nominal owner (prestanombres). I know what you own and I know what you’re capable of! Better not play dirty, buster!

In Madrid, Adrián meets Doña Remedios, the lady who runs the guesthouse (posada) where he’ll be staying. For some reason, she insists on speaking this horrendous pseudo-Andalusian accent that I’ve never heard anybody up and down Andalusia speak. Oh dear, now there’s two of them! Her daughter Triana, an Emma Stone lookalike, sings and dances, wait for it, Flamenco, guess where, in a Tablao, naturally. Stereotype bingo complete. Triana finds Adrián very handsome and invites him to come see her at the Tablao. Doña Remedios says that, since her arrival, Odette hasn't stopped talking about Adrián. His room is number 3, right next to Bunnyboiler's room.

In Puerto Esperanza, Pau is boo-hooing and talking to the Heavenly Father. Oh, God! You know how hard it is for me to forget Adrián! Please help me, Almighty God! I can't do this without you! Yada yada yada. Sorry, kiddo, I have real problems to solve!

In Playa Linda, Gisela gushes over how wonderful a husband Jaime is and suggests that Julieta make an effort to improve her marital relationship now that she and her hubby are all alone. Might as well try to convince an armadillo to learn French. Julieta is all about Adrián.

Back in Madrid, Adrián is unpacking while Odette is lying on his bed, with her sandal-clad trotters by his pillow! Eww, that's just nasty! Vitch, get off my bed and go do something somewhere away from me! Adrián wants to go to his university right away, to start orientation. Odette wants to accompany him, but first, some bad news: An idiot from Admissions misplaced the paperwork (traspapelar) from her application and now she doesn't have a spot in the Masters program. Adrián is confused: Didn't she say her acceptance was confirmed by the university itself? Apparently, there was someone else with the same last name, hence the confusion. Unfazed by this contretemps, Bunnyboiler is determined to stay in Spain and study a one-year Literature program until she can join Adrián’s Masters program next year!

Pau is having an Adrián bonfire by the beach, destroying all the souvenirs of her lover. Erm... what about that giant souvenir growing in your tummy? Talking to the empty space in front of her face, she thanks Adrián for giving her wonderful moments and granting her the privilege to be a mother. She asks him to forgive her for all the harm she has caused him and wishes him much happiness. Moreover,  she decides to give Poseidon his starfish back, the symbol of eternal love. She throws the starfish necklace that Adrián gave her into the sea. It would’ve been great if the starfish medallion had hit a rock, bounced back and smacked her in the kisser, you know, to give her something to cry about!

At Consorcio Murat, The Gonz instructs Paty, his secretary, to keep trying his house phone. He needs to talk to his wife ASAP. Bridezilla barges into her father’s office. She knows what wedding gift he ought to get her: A biiig brand new house! With a tennis court (cancha de tenis) or a golf course? he asks mockingly. Nuria reminds him that he wouldn’t want his grandson to grow up in a pigsty (pocilga). It figures, since her future husband is a parasite who can't afford to get Nuria and their baby a decent place to live! The Gonz agrees but he has some conditions: The house will be in Nuria’s name, she'll have to marry Leonel under the separate property regime (casarse por bienes separados) and she'll stick to the budget that her dad sets. He'll deposit the money in her bank account and he won’t grant her an extra cent for that house. Now, disappear! The Gonz is in a bad mood.

The Gonz shows up at Casa Murat to tell Inés that he spoke with her lawyer today and that he won’t grant her the divorce. Inés retorts that she won't get back with him or allow him to come back to HER house. The Gonz admits that the house is in her name but he assures her she won’t get anything else from him! He won’t give her a cent if she insists on divorcing him. “If you want war, you're gonna have it! (...) I'll change the locks (cerraduras) so that you never set foot in MY house ever again!” The Gonz scoffs at her threats. Like a lock could keep him away! Pffft! Pau witnesses the fiery exchange and, on his way out, The Gonz scolds her for eavesdropping! This guy is such an unapologetic jerk, it’s rather comical!

Gastón is thinking about Inés then telling himself off for thinking about her. Less thinking, more seducing, please!

The next day, Inés, Raquel and Alfonso are at Casa Murat. Pau and Camilo gathered them there because they have a surprise. They got married and adopted Mauricio! The child is now going to be named Mauricio Fonseca Murat. After the initial shock wears off, everyone is in a happy and celebratory mood. Alfonso, on the other hand, looks really really pished aff. This is great news for Mau and the family, but what about Pau and Camilo? What does this mean for them as a couple? They announce that they are serious about rekindling their romance. Yay! Happy happy, joy joy! Alfonso congratulates them but surely Camilo is in for a severe scolding later on.

Nuria shows Leonel the house she has chosen. Leonel’s salary will not be enough (alcanzar) to maintain this monster of a house: The utilities, the domestic help, the pool, etc. Not to mention the furniture. To furnish (amueblar) this place would take forever. Nuria says she’ll take care of those expenses. Leonel acts like he’s too proud to accept then yields because he wants to please his Bridezilla’s every whim.

Adrián goes to a Mickey Mouse Tablao to watch Triana perform. He admires the girl on stage too much for Bunnyboiler’s liking.

Julieta missed an earlier call from Adrián and insists on calling him back right away, even if it is very late in Spain. She discovers that Odette is also in Madrid, staying at the same guesthouse as Adrián. Har har har. The telenovela Gods are too generous. They will grant us the privilege of savoring Bunnyboiler’s strangling earlier than anticipated. Happy happy, joy joy!

Hiya Patio Pals! Hope all is well with you. Thanks Delilah and Pablo for your excellent recaps of the past two episodes.

Enjoy the discussion! Lots of surprising-ish developments in this episode. I kinda saw the Pau-Camilo marriage coming, especially in light of Inés's insistence not to stay with Gonzalo for Mau's sake. However, Julieta finding out about Odette's lie so soon was pure delight. Tomorrow's episode is gonna be unmissable! Choke her! Choke her! :D

Have a good day, everyone! :)

Hello Nandicta, thank you for your efforts!

This episode was set-up but the best kind of set-up because it promises even more exciting pay offs later on. I hope Paulina really does fall for Camilo. It would 1) be refreshing and 2) make the central dilemma even juicier if and when Adrian comes back.

I squealed with glee when Remedios inadvertently spilled the beans about Odette. I hope Julieta gets on the first plane to Spain and goes to put her in a chokehold. I'm not for violence but Odette deserves it. She played everyone like a fiddle. Hopefully, Adrian sees i all and realizes what a vitch Odette is.

I wonder what's going on with Leonel's parents?

Great work, Nandicta.

I hope a Spanish TV network calls Televisa and tells them off about the tablao scene. That wasn't very flamenco at all. I took lessons in it for 8 years!

However, that scene was more about the Bunnyboiler than the music and Julieta's reaction to Remedios' info was an omen of things to come. She has no business not being in the asylum.

Leonel's secrecy about his parents could be because they're in prison or they're grifters currently on the make. He sure as hell wouldn't want Gonzalo to know that and wouldn't want such parents cutting in on his action.

Thank you, Nandicta!

Great call on the Camilo/Paulina marriage. Camilo es un tipazo but he and Pau are such a boring couple. This marriage was (for me) another nail in the coffin for the Pau/Adrian romance story. It used to be fun longing for the main couple to get back together. Oh, well.

So, does anybody think the Nuria/Leonel pairing is like that of Ines/Gonzo back in the day? Was Gonzo "a Leonel" way back when? Don't recall hearing much about their family and background.

Lila

Re Leonel, maybe he's an orphan.

Aye, Gaston: Ines has stolen his heart! His fighting his feelings and being a respectful gentleman is going to lead to a slow and intense build up which I'm going to love seeing when it's finally expressed. THIS will be the swoon!

Thanks, Nandicta!

Don't know why that post but my signature in the middle. Silly thing!

Lila

Looks like Gaston is the lucky guy with Ines!

I wondered if Camilo and Paulina would get married for Mauricio's sake. I don't see a good end for this at all. He must really love Paulina if he's willing to take care of two kids who do not biologically belong to him. I kind of want her to love him just because he is so good to her.

Gaston is so cute. I really hope that he and Ines end up together, but you know Gonzalo will not make it easy. And Ines will probably be very reluctant herself!

Thanks for the recap!

Fun recap Nandicta. I think juls finding out that oddy the bunnyboiler
Being with Adrian is poetic justice, ha! She helped her ruin pauly
And adrians wedding just so she can get her hot little hands in Adrian's pants. She's got a choking good time coming. She so deserves it.

I think its good that Pauly & camy got
Hitched and adopted mau. Cam is so nice, but his ticker is gonna get broken. Pauly loves him but lookin at
Adrian or adrianett jr day in day out
She won't forget her first love.

I would have thought that juls would be better, but she's as loony as ever.
She faced her dad offin himself but
The loony is still present. She didn't
Fly over the cookoo's nest, she crashed into it.

Ms Nan did you see that scene where the clown(gonzo) barged into cams office, seems like he was yelling about him marrying Pauly and adopting mau. Cam would not back down, he told him off and to get out of his office. And he left.
At least that's what it looked like to me. My cc3 is messed up again.

I enjoyed that. Thanks Nandicta:)

I thought they were already married.
My bad :/

Thanks so much, Nandicta! I'm actually very happy Pau and Cam got married. Mau deserves some stability and happiness. I'm also happy that Juli now knows about Odette. Time for a trip to Spain and a good choking. :)

I was glad that Pau actually let Karen in on the wedding/adoption plan ahead of time. I'm surprised how well she accepted it.
