Only time enough for a very brief recap, to get conversation started.
Trini discovers Don Benito getting a massage from Sara at the bakery. We get some more 6-year old behavior by Trini. After she leaves DB muses, wondering why he’s so handsome!
Vicente tells Lucha what happened about Andrés overhearing he and MJ made love. These two are very believable as brother and sister.
Andrés treats MJ exactly as she deserves. She tries to say she didn’t tell him so as not to hurt him, but he says that she was too cowardly to tell him about having made love with Vicente. He tells her to get out of the car!
Manuel and Chivis are still planning on the day in Key West. He comes over to flirt a bit.
Stella comes home and Poncho finds out about “cushion baby”.
We get duplicate scenes of Chivis and Manuel trying to explain the trip to Key West to their children (in this Trini is one of the children).
Chivis tells Lupita that she and AJ are separating. Later, Lupita sobs in her bed and her sisters comfort her.
Poncho sneaks into Stella’s bedroom to watch her sleep and declare his love. [People in telenovelas are often able to sleep while other people deliver soliloquies a few feet from their heads.]
Andrés ignores MJ’s calls, while MJ also ignores those of Vicente. Andrés, of course, sends Lucha a message that he needs to talk with her.
Chivis is packing for Key West, and the massively annoying Trini comes to give her a lecture. When Manuel whistles for a balcony confab, it’s Trini who goes out.
while Anibal convinces not-so-smart Daniela to sign a power of attorney ?? his guys can't open the safe, he tells them to take it.
Calvo, Yesica's new boss, has hired 8 hitmen, I think she plans to pay for them with money out of the safe.
Hernan and Cata talk, he's pushy, she's insulted, but later he tells her it was him at Gato's house that spared her life, yes he is a hitman, she tells of what she had to do to get money to hire a sicario to kill Diabla and Daniela, he doesn't want to hear anymore, it hurts, but as they walk she continues the story.
Titi and Martina escape to Vanessa's house, who reluctantly hides them only because Hilda wants to question Martina, Gato leaves a note on her house, turn up in 24 hours or you are dead.
Anibal's men can't figure out how to steal the wall safe, they consider dynamite, and are ready to blow it when the housekeeper walks in on them.
sweet Hilda jumps all over Martina, swears she will kill her for what she did to Cata, (the men have to keep the women apart) as Martina keeps talking she tells of Cata coming to her wanting $50,000 to hire a sicario to kill Yesica and Daniela. and then as Cata is telling Hernan the story so is Martina telling her parents. (we also get the story about how and why Martina does what she does)
and as Cata story ends she tells Hernan that not only did he save her life that night at Gato's but also her virginity, they kiss...
novelera - thank you for the recap! and the snark! too many good zingers to quote here but you were on fire with this one.
Good to know I can plan on FFWD>>> thru the Trini scenes yet again.
"so did Trini's husband die or was he man enough to run away?"
deb - LOL!!!
In looking ahead, there will be no telenovelas on Tuesday night. T'mundo will be covering election results.
I will settle in to watch the hockey game instead. Or a good book if we're losing the hockey game. :-)
Thanks, novelera, for the recap. It was short, but you managed to cover the high (and low) points very well. And I loved your aside "(in this Trini is one of the children)". Actually, I think that's almost always true of her.
I spent the entire episode waiting nervously for AJ to come to the house and ruin Chivis' plans to spend the day with Manuel. And so I especially enjoyed deb's comment: "so did Trini's husband die or was he man enough to run away?"
Actually, getting back to Trini for a moment, her increasingly obnoxious behavior (esp. to Sara) made me think about which major characters I found most annoying in this novela. I realized that all of them are women: Trini, Margarita, and Stella. And if we don't count just major characters, there's also Cata. No male gets under my skin the way these women do. AJ has done truly terrible things, but he's not annoying in the way the women are (at least not to me). Probably the male character who annoys me most is Poncho, but even at his pompous worst he wasn't as nasty or as annoying as Trini, Margarita, or Stella. Rafa is a turd, but he's not a major character, nor do I find him as fingernails-on-the-blackboard irritating as the women. So what's with these writers? Are they a bunch of frustrated women-haters? [Imagine some not-permitted political comment here :-) ] I don't tend to watch telenovela comedies, so I don't know whether this same trait is found in telenovela comedies in general. But it bugs me about this one.
Juanita - I agree with you about the annoying women in this Telenovela. It does make one wonder if the writers have bad relationships with females. The Wikipedia page for this version lists several women in the original script, adaptation, and exec. producer. So, who knows?
IMHO, Lucia and Majo were very irritating women at first, but the writers are bringing them around and slowly redeeming them.
I see no hope for change in Stella and Trini. No hay remedio. The mute and FFWD>>> buttons on the remote are my friends.
Carlos Ponce is my current telenovio 💕 (Fernando Colun---who? Jaime Cam---who?), and Manuel 💕 has been written as a great character. Good thing the writers have not messed with that! (lol)
doris - Yes, Lucha and Majo were irritating at the start (and at times even now), but they are coming around. I have the awful feeling that the writers will do something similar with Trini, since it looks as if she'll wind up with Don Benito (poor schnook). Ditto Stella with Poncho (arrgh). But I'm not buying it. As for Margarita...oh, never mind!
I agree with you about Carlos Ponce. I've enjoyed everything I've seen him in: Santa Diabla, Dame Chocolate, even the State Farm commercials! I'd claim him as a telenovio, except that he was born the same year as my son :-).
Just catching up on my recorded episodes now. I think if I was Sara, I'd have rammed that bell down Trini's throat.
Jude Gray - you are much nicer than I am. ;-) (re: Trini and that bell)
Juanita - technically, I am old enough to be Papi Chulo's mother if I had gotten an earlier start. As it is, didn't we start a Cougar Table on the Patio when Quien was on? Or was that Reina de Corazones?
Cata and Hernan resolve their differences, answer their questions and tell their stories of what they have gone through, Hernan wants to marry, Cata says yes.
Hilda finally lets Martina go, they see Gato's note, Titi advises her to go see him, but he won't go with her because he is on parole, she gets upset and calls him a coward.
Hilda, Vanessa, Jota, Ximena, Albeiro talk, Albeiro wonders if Martina laughed after he commented that Yesica was dead could mean that she is alive, Alberio wants to dig her up, they plan to do it after Adriana's funeral, and change the time to 5 to accommodate.
Cata still wants to kill Daniela, Hernan says don't bother, Daniela is stupid enough she will kill herself.
Anibal's guys can't decide what to do with the housekeeper, so they toss a coin heads she lives.
Anibal arrives at the house with Daniela, her room is a mess and the safe is gone, Anibal smiles quietly to himself as Daniela panics.
Hernan, Cata and Vale arrive back home, Vale gets the papers Pipe left for him, he and Cata go to his house so he can change.
Pipe's mom arrives in the barrio, gets directions to Vale's house.
Anibal tries to convince Daniela it was Hernan who took the safe.
Martinas and Titi see Hernan and Cata walking to his house, Titi looks obsessed with Cata.
Daniela calls Yesica with the news, forget the money, there was a list of all of the assets she got from Marcial and the people she had to kill to get them.
the Capitan comes to investigate the robbery, the security DVR is gone too, Daniela gives the Capitan Hernan's full name.
Anibal's guys get the safe to a warehouse, talk about just keeping it and all the money.
Hernan gets in his house, a lot of memories there for him, Cata wants to know how they got dragged into this horror movie.
Anibal is back at his office and can't get ahold of his guys (because they smashed the phone), and if things aren't bad enough, Yesica walks into his office.
CHILD SEXUAL TRAFFIC, as a very integral component in the theme of SinSuenos, makes this one of the most mature and relevant show on Savitha’s series may look like soap opera fluff, but the subtext is no joke,
No Shame in My Game!! Ms. Martina!!
The show down between Martina and Hilda… . Because Hilda came out swinging! However, Martina, straightup dropped the bomb, letting Hilda/ Abierto, know this was Cata’s, idea, OH YES, Senora! the initiative was Cata’s, so whose fault / culpability belongs to whom?? The victim of the game! NO! The seduced/molested/abused child? HELL-NO!!
they know how dangerous Ms. Martina is to guileless children male. Female!! However, Martina, [ who is twoinches from getting a beat- down by Gatos or murdered by Yessica], needs to check herself. Por favor!
So, Hilda grilled the slimy PutaLinda. Hilda held her own in this battle, she had moral and legitimate comeback, to every cynical response Martina, spat out of her grimy mouth. Slimy -ass, Titi, who is one inch from trying to slide- up -into their daughter, Cata, just played it cool, the man had proper restraint and timing!!
Ain’t no shame in her game, borderline personality disorder, Ms. Martina, kept on popping Xinyang!! “Yeah I did it and I love it !!-so what!”Titi just had to stand there with a sh*t- eating grin, but dude, keep to the side line and was humane enough to keep Martina smart-ass in Check.
In the meanwhile, on … ‘the run from the cops???’. Catalina and Hernan is working through stuff like murder, corruption, criminal kidnapping, Lowdown-Lifestyle, extortion, and whether she is still vaginally intact, I think that’s the least of her trouble, does lesbian gang rape count, quess not!
Back to Martina and Hilda, why dad, didn’t clock girlfriend is a miracle!
The discussion of male and female child prostitution, PEDOPHILE, SEX TRAFFIC, came up and Jota, reflected on this?
When the poor distraught parent asked, what is the point of having children, if they are just going to be preyed- on, sexually pursued and violated. Ms. Martina. that young female, pimp -in -training, just tried to deflect complicity. The class -caste system, poverty and narcotics- wealth system is eating the children, but to say, pimping is just a job, is too much! Hilda, girl! how you kept from strangling that Baby -Witch was too deep. I could feel her pain, as a mother, surrounded by sharks. Titi, he [ just, ought- to-] looked contrite!
Hilda looked like she intended to strangle this Baby- Hooker, but she got serious with Martina and got to the heart of the matter, she wanted to know the Who, What, Where and Why!!
Because in the end, Martina would have put Cata on the block, if it would have made more money! Martina is a lowdown bottom curb/Gutter-Ho, [which one could forgive and understand] but NOT as a child recruiter for Chicken Hawks/PEDOPHILES! How low- can- you- go, when you are pulling kids from school yards!
The playground is where they went to hawk sex partners!!!
Manuel pretends he just wanted to tell Chivis about the weather when Trini steps out on the balcony.
The next morning, Manuel and Chivis head off for their day together, both excited and nervous. Trini watches them leave from the balcony.
Dom helps Poncho in the bath. Poncho hoped that Stella would help bathe him instead. Poncho even put on swim trunks. Stella just takes photos of him on her phone.
Sara arrives to start work and Trini insists that she put on the awful uniform and call her Señora Trini. Sara only called her Trini because she thought they were on friendly terms. Trini seems a little nervous giving orders and ends up forbidding Sara from fraternizing from anyone in the neighborhood. Sara plays along with the game and says she likes working for the family since they’re so classy and refined - and of course none of them would have anything to do with the other people in the neighborhood either, right? Trini reluctantly agrees but then gets more flustered and admonishes Sara for being mean to poor people since it’s not their fault that they’re poor [yes, these words actually came out of Trini’s mouth!!]
Dom feeds Poncho and Stella notes how things are getting back to normal in the house. Stella mentions that she’s bringing the dog to the terminal before its appointment with the doggie doctor and the boys get a little scared. Dom claims that he read online that in cases like this, it’s hopeless and the dog will need to be brought back to the shelter. Stella refuses to give up on her dog/son.
At the breakfast table, Lupita asks Trini if she knew that her parents were getting divorced. Trini tells her not to worry since couples break up and get back together all the time. This cheers Lupita up since that happened with Angie and Jorge, and Majo and Andres. She notes that Vicente is the only one without a girlfriend… well, until recently. She saw him kissing a pretty girl in his house the other day and they make a great couple. Majo is obviously upset about this.
Majo keeps asking questions about Vicente’s supposed girlfriend. Who is she? Where is she from? Probably from the terminal, right? No, Lupita says, she hasn’t seen her around before and she could be a model with her beautiful eyes. Trini yells at Sara for listening to their conversation instead of working. Angie and Lupita both tell Trini to stop being so rude. Jorge and Pedrito arrive to walk the girls to school. Trini is also rude to Jorge after he kisses Angie, and even tells them she does not like their noviazgo (relationship) at all. Once again Angie tells her to stop being so pesada (annoying, tiresome). After they leave, even Sara agrees that Jorge is not for Angie but Trini just yells at her again to get back to work. Majo sits silently at the table looking sad.
Stella and Dom struggle to get Poncho out of the car at the terminal. Poncho falls on Stella and Dom laughs picking him up.
In the truck, Manuel asks Chivis what she’s thinking about since she seems a little distracted. She was thinking about everything that’s happened since the last time she went on a trip. Manuel asks to hear the best and worst things. Best: having discovered that she likes working more than being at home, her family is more united than ever, and having met Manuel. Worst: seeing her girls suffer, AJ leaving them in the street, and dealing with the police. Manuel notes that she’ll have to deal with the police very soon because there’s a cop pulling people over ahead.
Unfortunately for Manuel, he’s not supposed to drive without glasses so the cop is going to give him a ticket. Chivis pretends to be the angry wife with the idiot husband who never listens and yells at him for not bringing his glasses even though she told him to. The cop is sympathetic to Manuel since his wife is just as bravucona (nagging/bossy) and he lets them go as long as Chivis drives.
Everyone at the terminal starts making fun of Poncho as soon as he walks in and he realizes that Stella sent the bathtub photos to them. Stella laughs about it and kind of defends him, and then asks where Manuel is. She notices that neither he nor Vicente are at work yet.
Manuel stops the truck and says he has a surprise for Chivis, which he wasn’t able to tell her the night before thanks to Trini.
At school, Margarita harasses Angie and Jorge, calling them liars. Angie is upset, but she’s not angry; she feels sorry for Margarita. She asks Jorge to kiss her and changes the subject to their parents going to the Keys together. Lupita had asked if they were going to end up together and she didn’t know what to tell her. She also feels sorry for AJ, but she will support her mother in whatever decision she makes.
Manuel’s surprise is that he rented a boat for them to spend the day on the water. [These two are so adorable in these scenes.] Chivis asks him to be her secret boyfriend, but she won’t let him kiss her for some reason.
Don Benito stops by to give Trini her favorite pastries. Sara thought he was there to visit her. Trini sends her upstairs to clean the bathroom. She gives Don Benito a hard time about Sara and claims to want nothing to do with him. Don Benito knows that she’s just jealous.
The vet asks Stella about the dog and what’s wrong with him. She explains that he changed a lot since she first brought him home from the pet shop where she bought him. She doesn’t know how to respond when he asks why she bought him in the first place.
Ale catches up to Vicente and asks him about the previous night and why he was acting a bit weird. He just says it was personal things that have nothing to do with her. She is relieved and asks if he has a girlfriend. He says no. She kisses him on the cheek and leaves. Majo texts Vicente that he ruined her marriage. Vicente responds that he didn’t mean to. Ok, well he did, but he wanted her to realize it and make the decision on her own. She replies that she hates him and never wants to see him again.
Back on the boat, Chivis wishes the day would never end. She says they should hold hands since they’ve been together for a whole 6 hours already. Manuel asks her to promise not to forget him and go running back to her castle when the mess with AJ is over. He promises to be loyal to her hasta que la muerte nos separe (until death do us part). They kiss passionately.
Thanks so much for the recap, especially for having to pay attention during the Trini or Three Stooges scenes, so I didn't have to. There's enough slow drama and characters that I could do without them. At least Stella's pregnancy is over and was used mainly as a comedic time-waster than a real point of contention for her, Chivis and Manuel.
Well, Lupita spilling the beans on Vicente will keep Majo and Vicente at odds for another while.
What else could Margarita think up than to vent her own hurt, jealousy and anger on Jorge and Angie. I sort of blame Jorge and Angie both for hurting Margarita, vitchy personality aside.
I loved the car-cops-glasses-bitchy wife scene. They played it well.
Did anyone notice the dolphins swimming & diving in the water as Manuel and Chivis got into their boat?
I wondered why Chivis wouldn't let Manuel kiss her at all in the boat, even though she was the one who asked they become secret novios. I realize she was shy and probably still bothered by her official "married" state, but I was so relieved when they finally did get in a romantic passionate kiss. It just didn't seem right to send Manuel home without one. Manuel has been waiting for that for quite awhile.
J - Thank you for the recap!
Esa bruja de Trini ….. ugh! She has never heard the saying “When you point a finger at someone, three are aimed back at YOU.” Will someone please throw her in front of a bus??? Porfis?
I keep hoping Sara will put itching powder in Trini’s bed. It would so be worth getting fired over.
mini-rant alert ---I am always bothered by the way Stella’s dog is always shown to be in his crate, even though he is psycho. It seems a bit cruel and makes me wonder if he gets walked outside, or what?!? The dog is a possession/object to her, like a piece of furniture. I kind of hate her for all that.
I look forward to watching this episode and the day on the boat. :-)
Many thanks, J, for another superb recap. I loved your aside, "[yes, these words actually came out of Trini’s mouth!!]" I have so had it with Trini! Even when she says something decent, she does so for all the wrong reasons. I do think the writers have gotten carried away with her nastiness and pettiness, just as they have with [expletive deleted] Margarita's.
And then there's Stella, the third obnoxious member of the Perra Trio. She sends her embarrassing photos of Poncho to everyone at the Terminal after promising that she wouldn't, and she laughs when he falls out of the car. As far as I could tell, he landed on his broken arms. Ha ha. Very funny. :-(
Fortunately, a good part of last night's episode focused on Chivis and Manuel, and those scenes were very well done. I especially liked Chivis' improvisation when the cop pulled them over. Plus, of course, Manuel's promising he'll be loyal to Chivis "until death do us part." Since this is a comedy, his wording looks ahead to their eventual wedding vows, rather than foreshadowing something terrible happening to him or Chivis.
Thanks so much, J. Ditto what everyone else said about Trini, MJ, Stella, and Margarita. Ugh!
I was also about to be very upset when it looked like Chivis and Manuel (or Manolo, as his fake wife Chivis called him) were about to go the WHOLE day without a single kiss. Thank goodness Chivis finally loosened up! (Six hours later...)
The burning question I had during this episode was why would Trini and the girls eat Sara's burnt toast, when they had enough fresh bagels and croissants at the table to feed a small army?
Viví- Yes, there are always so many baked goods at Chivis' house! I guess having the local baker crushing on a family member really helps.
Also- I need to get into the fish selling business. Apparently it is extremely lucrative!
And Don Benito's table is usually even better and bigger, even though only two people living in the house!
Thanks, J, for the fine recap! And for your aside about Trini actually expressing (fake) sympathy for the poor. I think we can count on the fingers of one of our cyber hands the times that Trini has actually been tolerable.
I thought Sara was going to be a bit villainous the way she was coming on to Don B, but she’s actually quite sympathetic having to put up with Trini. Speaking of Trini, it was unbelievable when she said something about how exhausted it was bossing a domestic around. Sara gave one of those looks: Really???
I keep thinking the big reveal on the Yorkie will be that it’s actually a female and only the Three Stooges would fail to notice.
So here’s my mean streak again: I enjoyed Majo finding out about Vicente and someone else kissing. And she revealed her “inner Trini” by saying the girl must have been someone from the Terminal [i.e. a lower class person in her mind].
I kept being fascinated by Maritza’s hair in the boat scenes. It was actually frizzy! I guess those smooth blonde locks are the result of Telemundo’s hairdressers.
And, I didn’t breathe easily until the red truck actually pulled out of the driveway. Like everyone else I was expecting an AJ arrival. And, yes, the scenes on the boat were very satisfying. If anyone ever deserved a pleasant, romantic day away from the quotidian, it’s these two.
The Caray site has a new glitch that never was there before. My method in years of recapping and commenting has been to write the comment in Word, paste it in the Comment area, and then click the Preview button. This is where I see what will appear and can catch a typo or odd turn of phrase. Then I click edit and go back to the box where I pasted the text. I fix whatever I wanted to fix and click Publish Your Comment.
This week that doesn’t work. For both Monday’s and Thursday’s recap, when I click Publish your comment, it disappears and this is what I get:
Bad Request
Error 400
If I didn’t have it in Word, I’d have lost everything. I can still click Publish Your Comment, and it works, as long as I don’t try to preview it first. Very annoying!
I got to watch this episode today, and it went really fast due to FFWD>>> thru all the tontería y payasadas.
Manuel & Chivis Take A Day Off (my apologies to Ferris) was lovely, romantic, and wonderful. 💕💕💕
While they were driving down to the keys, his truck radio kept playing the chorus of the show's theme song over and over. Too funny.
novelera - I've had that same error message lately, too, more often than I want to think about, after previewing and then trying to edit or even publish. Happens both on iPad and desktop. Usually I type my comments in WORD then copy and paste. Can't do that on iPad.
Thinking about when AJ will show up ...... while watching the nice scenes with M & C on the boat, I started thinking that in true Telenovela fashion, (I think it's in the Telenovela rules) that this wonderful day will be followed by some sort of disaster--- my guess is that most likely AJ could be waiting for her when they return home. 😜
novelera and doris, I too have been having the problem you described. I think it just started this week. Suddenly, I was unable to publish after previewing, and sometimes I think I couldn't even preview. I kept getting the message
Bad Request
Error 400
It drove me nuts when I was trying to do Tuesday's recap.
I'm not sure what we can/should do about this. If you'd like to discuss this (or anything else) with me offline (i.e. via email rather than on the Caray page) feel free to send me an email message at cq9 AT yahoo DOT com . That's not an email address I use for anything important, so I don't mind making it public here. I'll reply and let you know a good email address to use for me.
Error 400: message appears.
"If you're seeing this, first try one of the most universally prescribed nostrums in Blogger land - clear cache, cookies, and active logins, and restart the browser. An alternative would be to try using a different browser - if this helps, you could rule out your computer in general, your Internet service, and Blogger in general being the primary cause of the problem."
Don't know if this helps, but may be worth a try.
Thanks very much, LXV, for trying to find info that might cure the problem. Alas, I just cleared the cache, restarted the browser, and still got the "Bad Request
Error 400" message when I previewed and then tried to post. Since I have used the same browser without a problem until this week, my guess is that it's not the browser, not the computer system, and, since several of us have had the same problem, not my Internet service. :-(
Just for the record, I tried a different browser and tried twice to send a message after previewing it. On that browser, I cleared the cache, cleared cookies, restarted it, and tried. Same error message both times.
Thanks, Juanita for sparing me all those tasks. When the problem arose this week I tried to post as I've always done on Firefox and Internet Explorer, both of which live on my computer. And got the same result.
Most likely the error is a problem with the blog software or website, since I get it on all my devices.
