Juanita: Aracely Arambula sure is one scary villain in "La Dona".

She's super ruthless just like Aurelio Casilas from "El Senor De Los Cielos."

SILVANA – JUEVES

We are again back in the Tango Club. I confess to thoroughly enjoying Sara’s insults. She calls Trini vieja resbalosa (easy, promiscuous). When Trini objects to vieja Sara retorts that Trini objected to “old” but not resbalosa because she acknowledged this to be true.

The Three Stooges argue. Poncho tells Stella she’s jealous, and he’ll move out if she doesn’t accept Génesis. As predicted, Poncho gets a text from Génesis asking why he didn’t tell her he was married with three kids. Stella denies having told her that and says that Génesis is crazy. [Oh, this is rich!]

Trini comes home and we get what seems like two hours of her moaning and groaning about what Sara did at the Tango Club. When she tells Chivis about it, Chivis agrees to fire Sara, but she’s sort of amused by what happened at the club.

Chivis and Manuel talk on the balcony about the difficult day. [It’s still the wedding day, night by now.] Chivis admits that María José should have backed out of the wedding earlier. Manuel tells Chivis she has three faults: 1. her husband; 2. her social class; and 3. not wearing mini-skirts. They are having a great time until AJ comes out on the balcony. [Push him over the railing Chivis!]

Majo sneaks out that night to meet Vicente in his car. They have a very cute scene. Then Alejandra texts him. MJ gets jealous. Eventually she insists on Vicente handing over his phone and sends Ale a “goodbye forever” text.

AJ invites Chivis for a glass of wine in Trini’s old bedroom. He says he has an important business deal coming up. He then says he’ll get the whole family out of here. He says his girls don’t belong here. She tells him that his business sounds like a fantasy. She orders him not to mention it in front of the girls. And she hopes that this business doesn’t land him in jail forever. She said it would destroy his children.

MJ sneaks back in, but AJ is up. She lies and tells him that she took a walk.

Andrés and Lucha wake up in Manuel’s truck. He doesn’t remember much of what happened and apparently has dragon breath. She invites him to breakfast; she’ll buy.

AJ comes to the bakery and the horrible Margarita tells him that Majo left Andrés at the altar and then came to see Vicente in her wedding dress. She tells him everyone is talking about it. She says Majo was exchanging caviar for chicken.

La Doña

they are doing a good job getting out the backstory, tonight we learned that after the rape scene, where both her parents and her boyfriend were killed, the police would do nothing to help and so the two young sisters end up in the big city to live with their aunt Yesenia (played by Rebecca Jones) who has already lined them up with jobs, AG saying she is the oldest and will work for both, takes a job at a construction company, hating the way the men, especially her boss oogle her, and Yesenia upon hearing that she is pregnant from the rape thinks it's a good idea to pin it on her boss which AG does, and after they are married her rejection of him causes him to drink heavy, and with Yesenia's further encouragement AG is working on getting him to sign the company over to her and after the baby is born, plans to cast him off with her, and apparently Yesenia as well.

And along the way Yesenia has taught AG her skills in witchcraft and as AG put it, the student surpassed the teacher.

this is all revealed as Yesenia has come to the house to exchange information for money, Lazaro's friend has told her he and Monica are in town, but she doesn't get the chance as AG has her guards toss her out in the street, and if she comes back, call the police.

Saúl seemed to be aware of the tactic la Dona was using, I forget what he called it, basically have a bunch of thugs throw the people out then lock the place up so no one can get back in, done deal, AG is liking the challenge he offers as she doesn't let her guys kill him.

Monica also has eyes for Saúl, and his girlfriend is getting very needy.

and Lazaro's friend is being set up to take the fall for La Doña's failed raid.

Silvana

thanks so much novelera!

"[Push him over the railing Chivis!]" ha!

wow, it took MaJo a blink of the eye to know Vicente was sleeping with Ale.

why doesn't Andres have any money, Lucia didn't have enough to tip the bar tender.

we need to get Margarita into the narco novelas.

Deb: I noticed Yesenia tried to call Guillermo, but looks like he'll get whacked.

SILVANA:

Thanks so much, novelera. Yay, finally a Silvana-Miguel scene. A shame it was so rudely interrupted by AJ.

There is only one minor in that house-- Lupita. Even Angie is 18 and technically an adult. AJ has NO right to have a say over how the women in that house live their lives and who they choose to be with. And Silvana is the one paying the bills and putting food on the table, so if anyone has a say, it's her. I can't stand that Silvana, Angie and Majo are allowing him to butt in and allowing his opinions to affect the way they interact with their guys.

Finally, the wedding day is over! Now, I need to see Silvana get serious about getting AJ out, figuring out his legal situation, and getting her divorce.

Silvana. Excellent recap as usual, novelera! Yep, Stella's saying Génesis is crazy is rich! And I also appreciate your "Push AJ over the railing!" :0 But it looks as if Chivis will have to wait for the courts to take care of AJ. Btw, Chivis is absolutely right about the probable
outcome of Aj"s business venture. Excellent comment by Vivi about 2 of the 3 daughters being of age. I agree about Silvana's hurrying up to kick AJ out and divorce him.

Silvana. all of the 3 daughters

Silvana. Nope, I was right the first time--2 of the 3 daughters.

La Doña

Thanks, deb, for putting up a comment. I didn't watch the show last night as watching and doing a very short Silvana recap and watching basketball left me no time to see it.

SILVANA

novelera – Thank you for the recap! And the snark! This sounds like a “filler” episode, so your recap was long enough. ;-)

” . . . AJ comes out on the balcony. [Push him over the railing Chivis!]”
Yesssss!!!!!

” we need to get Margarita into the narco novelas.” Yes, deb, you are so right! Marga is a natural for them.

La Doña deb, thanks mucho for your concise (and complete!) summary. I'm worried about Saúl's girlfriend. Does she have evil intentions, or is it just jealousy? Or will the one lead to the other?

Silvana. Yes, indeed. Margarita was creepy and vindictive as usual.

La Doña

LXV, I think Saul is not going to remain with the current girlfriend (Ximena?). She was advocating that they take the money from Altagracia for the property, thus putting the - I think - rent controlled folks who live there out on the street. Not a good sign. And, they could be following the plot of the Doña Bárbara telenovela. In that one Santos Luzardo's girlfriend from the city shows up and DB hates her and manages to get rid of her.

La Doña

deb, many many thanks for your helpful mini-cap. It really helped me put together some pieces that puzzled me (which is not to say that there aren't lots more :-) ). Between your remarks today and novelera's recaps of the previous two episodes, I'm now beginning to feel more comfortable with this novela.

I've been suspicious of Saúl's novia just about from the start, because early on, when Saúl went to see Jaime in jail, Jaime said something about her not being right for Saúl. From then on, I was looking for signs to support that, and last night they were certainly there. So does that mean that Mónica and Saúl will get together? Certainly Mónica's expressions have pointed in that direction. But how old is she? And how old is Saúl? And, for that matter, how old is La Doña? Hmmm...I recall in Bajo el mismo cielo, Carlos and his son Rodrigo were both wanting Adela. Admittedly, in La Doña, I would imagine La Doña is attracted to Saúl as a challenge and potential triumph rather than as someone she loves, but.... Anyway, since I haven't seen or read any other version of this novela, I'm in no position to say anything about La Doña's feelings/intentions at this point. I'll stop babbling and just say muchas gracias otra vez.

Silvana

Many thanks, novelera, for another fine recap. It was considerably better than the episode deserved. Like everyone else, I loved "[Push him over the railing Chivis!]"
And while Chivis says she hopes AJ's "business" doesn't land him in jail for life, I hope just the opposite. Well, perhaps not a life sentence, but one that will get him out of her life AND punish him as he deserves. Say, ten years?

La Doña

I may regret this, but I think I'm willing to take a stab at recapping tonight's episode of La Doña. I'll try to have the recap up sometime tomorrow morning.

Juanita: On La Dona, AG is the female version of Aurelio Casilas: more bloodthirsty.

Novelera: It's looking like Saul's girlfriend won't be among the living if you're right about them using the DB plot.

Silvana sin Lana - Friday, December 2 - Capítulo 92, part 1/2

AJ tells Margarita not to spread rumors about any of his daughters. She is pretty snippy with him but he gets in the last word.

A distraught Chivis enters the office and immediately hugs Manuel. AJ is up to something and she’s afraid the girls will decide to move back to the mansion. Her girls are everything to her and she has to support them - but she doesn’t want to leave her house or job or be away from Manuel. She loves him and doesn’t want to lose him. Manuel tells her not to worry. Even if she goes back to the mansion with the girls, they will still be together. He’ll follow her to the end of the world. Chivis is tired of hiding their relationship. Manuel points out that everyone already knows about them, even AJ. Chivis doesn’t have the courage to admit it to him. Manuel offers to go straight to AJ and tell him that they are in love and he will fight for her.

Trini wonders if Majo left Andrés because of Vicente. Angie tells her she just realized she wasn’t in love with Andrés, that’s all. Trini also makes some classist remarks but luckily Angie calls her out on it and Trini apologizes, blaming it on her age and la cabra tira al monte (old habits die hard). Trini is worried about what AJ will do if he finds out.

AJ interrogates Majo about Vicente. Is he the reason why she left Andrés at the altar? She denies it, but AJ knows that she went to knock on his door instead of returning home after the non-wedding. She explains that she didn’t have her keys so she had to ask him for help to climb over the barda (enclosing wall). And she wasn’t home when they arrived because she had returned to the Gallardo side to thank Vicente and Lucha for helping her.

Chivis doesn’t want Manuel to tell AJ anything. She will tell him when she is ready. She wonders if AJ is already thinking they will live together in the mansion, just in separate rooms. Manuel gets jealous. He only wants to think about her sleeping in the room next to his. Chivis has no idea how to tell AJ. She apologizes to Manuel for always bringing up problems. He assures her that he will never let her go.

Majo is tired of everyone in the barrio gossiping about her. AJ finally stops harassing Majo, but she will have to explain to Andrés why she called off the wedding sooner rather than later. And he promises they will leave the barrio soon.

Lupita thinks that Andrés must have another woman, and even kids - that’s the only explanation she can think of why Majo would leave such a prince. Pedrito reminds her that she also thought that Majo was in love with someone else. They both agree to not leave the other at the altar at their own wedding.

Don Benito tells Trini that he told Sara he doesn’t want to see her again. She agrees to be friends with him like before.

Poncho finds out from Genesis that Stella told her about him being married with kids. He claims that Stella is in love with him and she was jealous, but he only recently found out. Genesis takes him back but warns him that her father wants to hurt him since he saw her crying and knows Poncho was the reason why.

Silvana sin Lana - Friday, December 2 - Capítulo 92, part 2/2

AJ and Roberto sign the contract for whatever deal they agreed on. Roberto trusts AJ for some reason, and even gives him the use of his car and Steve as his chauffeur for a few hours a week.

Majo and Vicente kiss in the kitchen at the Gallardos. She says she has to go. Someone gossiped to her dad about her coming to see him from the church and she knows he didn’t believe her story about not having her keys. Vicente thinks they should just tell him already, but she doesn’t want to yet. They need to be more careful about seeing each other and perhaps they should not see each other as often. Or at least, he shouldn’t say hi to her on the street. Vicente points out that would be odd for him to start ignoring her in public and people would get suspicious. He thinks they should go back to the salsódromo since her dad will never show up there. Besides they can’t hide it from him forever. Majo just wants to wait longer since it’s not the right time with everything that happened. As she leaves, we see that Lucha has eavesdropping from the dining room.

Benji and his suspenders show up at the bakery to threaten Margarita. He waited until Don Benito and Juanito had both left so she would be alone. She has a debt with him and she will pay it. He warns her that it would be a shame if anything happened to her grandfather…

Stella and Dom tell each other jokes, only one of which works in English:
Cuál es el láser que mas usa en una cantina? La cer-veza! (What is the most used laser in a bar? Beer!)
Cuál es la planta mas escalofriante? El bam-buuuuuu! (What is the scariest plant? Bam-booooo!)
Una cereza se mira al espejo y dice, ah! seré-za yo? (A cherry looks at itself in the mirror and says, ah! is it really me?)

Poncho returns home and tells Stella he knows that she lied to Genesis. She denies it of course. There’s a knock at the door. It’s AJ looking for Stella. She kicks Dom and Poncho out so she can talk to AJ alone.

Lucha starts teasing Vicente about being so cursi (sickly sweet) with Majo. He is annoyed that she was listening to their conversation. In the end, he agrees that it worked out for the both of them that Majo and Andrés didn’t get married.

AJ wanted to talk to Stella earlier but he had some family issues to attend to. Stella heard about the non-wedding and thinks it’s a good thing since Majo’s in love with Vicente anyway.

Andrés calls Lucha. He is drunk again and wanted to see her. She is tired and in the middle of studying, so she’ll call him an Uber to take him home. He thanks her for being the only woman who worries about him and takes care of him.

AJ doesn’t want to talk about Majo or Vicente. They can talk about that later. Stella starts to explain what she wanted to tell him. Manuel broke up with her because he fell in love with Chivis.

La Doña (Capítulo 4) - Viernes - 1 of 4

We again see Altagracia (AG) tell her assistant to arrange a press conference. She is not fleeing from anything and will answer all the reporters' questions.

Valeria phones her husband Braulio and asks whether he's seen the news. They've set things up so that Guillermo will take the blame for the violence in the barrio the night before. Valeria is outraged: "The poor man has spent his life working for Altagracia." Braulio replies "Is it going to rain?" "What did you say?" she asks. He tells her to put on the weather channel and tell him whether it's going to rain. She asks if he's been drinking. He tells her he's working and the only thing he has time for are matters concerning La Doña.

Mónica is pushing Lázaro's wheelchair in the hospital. She encounters a doctor, who may be the one she's looking for, but he tells her she needs to have an appointment. He also asks whether she has insurance. At that moment, the Knight in Shining Armor, aka Saúl, arrives. He introduces himself as a lawyer and reminds the doctor that the official Regulations of Medical Services says that a doctor who fails to treat an injured person (lesionado) can be sent to prison for three years. This cures the doctor's memory lapse and he agrees to treat Lázaro. Mónica thanks Saúl and asks whether he thinks La Doña is responsible for what happened in the barrio. He says he's almost sure, but he needs a bit more evidence. Mónica gives him a card with a picture of the Virgencita.

AG gives her press conference, which is carried on television. She expresses her doubt that Guillermo was responsible for the violence in the barrio. He has worked for her for many years and she regards him as an honest, upright man. If it turns out that he was responsible, he will be punished by the law and by her.

Saúl passes by a TV and sees the press conference. He calls his buddy who works for Valeria and asks who Guillermo is. He asks for Guillermo's address.

Saúl's novia, Ximena, is upset that Saúl went to the hospital "with that woman." Azucena asks Ximena whether she's jealous. Ximena replies that she's not sure. "That woman" is so young and so uneducated, she's not the sort of person Saúl would normally find attractive, but who knows? Azucena assures her that loyalty is very important to Saúl, and that he wouldn't deceive her.

Yesenia, AG's aunt, comes to Guillermo's house. She shouts for him outside the house and says she saw the news and she wants to help him. Receiving no answer, she enters the house (perhaps with her key) and sees that although all his things are here, he is not. Saúl enters the house through the open door. Startled, Yesenia warns, "Don't come near me!" Saúl explains that he's a lawyer, and Yesenia assumes he's allied with AG. He reaches for his card, and she thinks he's reaching for a gun, and that AG sent him to kill her. She asks Saúl to tell AG "I'm not going to accuse her, and she shouldn't kill me." He assures her that he's not working for AG, that nothing could be further from the truth. "That woman put my father in prison," he tells her. He shows her his phone's video of the barrio violence. She tells him she believes him, but not because of the video but rather because of the good vibes she feels.

The scene shifts to a distraught Guillermo on his knees in a ditch with his hands tied. Outside the ditch looking down on him are AG and Braulio. He pleads with them, offering to take the money in exchange for disappearing. Braulio tells him "the money was just a lie to convince you." Holding up the tape recorder, he adds, "Besides, we have your confession." AG adds, "The dead don't talk." She gives Braulio the go-ahead to kill Guillermo.

La Doña (Cap. 4) - Viernes - 2 of 4

Braulio gets into one of the construction site's earth-movers and dumps the excavated dirt back onto Guillermo, burying him alive. Afterward, AG says with relief, "One more guilty person and one less obstacle" (un cupable más y un estorbo menos). Braulio is perplexed. "You kill Guillermo who had worked for you for so many years, but the other night you wouldn't let me kill Saúl Aguirre, who is a much greater obstacle." She tells him that Saúl will meet the same fate as Guillermo if he continues to bother her. She, not Braulio, will deal with Saúl. Braulio says that she has just had a man killed as if it were nothing. She denies this and tells him she's not like him, she doesn't enjoy killing. If Guillermo is dead, it's because it was necessary. She then belittles Braulio, but he tells her he will never lose the hope that one day she'll give him a chance (with her). She responds by belittling him further.

Saúl asks Yesenia to tell him what she knows about AG. She claims she doesn't know her, has never seen her in person. She just knows that she's very dangerous, a viper. Saúl's phone rings: Jorge tells him that AG is on the construction site along with one of her hired killers. Saúl gives Yesenia his card and urges her to contact him if she learns anything more about Guillermo or if she decides to tell him more about AG. He then leaves to go to meet Jorge at the construction site.

Isabela and Diego are walking together outside their school. Isabela says she doesn't understand why their parents are so intent on the two of them being a couple. She and Diego agree that they're just friends. She then spots another guy and runs to greet him as her sexy novio. He tells her they should meet away from school, that La Doña has influence over all the school staff, and he doesn't want to lose his scholarship at this, the best school.

At the hospital, Mónica thanks the doctor for treating her father. The doctor tells her that her father needs long-term treatment, and it's important that he take all the medicines the doctor has prescribed. She says she can't afford the medicines, but thanks him again. He turns away and leaves.

Saúl's friend Lopecito gives his boss Valeria some papers. She's clearly upset and is drinking quite a bit. She mutters something about that desgraciada having done in Guillermo. Puzzled, Lopecito asks whether she's talking about La Doña. She yells at him that she never mentioned La Doña and asks him whether he wants to lose his job. Getting more and more upset, she screams at him "¡Desaparécete, esfúmate, evapórate. Sal de mi vista, inútil!.

Saúl meets Jorge at the construction site. He sees Braulio drive off. He wants to talk to AG, and he asks Jorge to provide some distraction while he tries to find a way into the site.

AG is standing alone at the construction site. A small fire is burning nearby. AG says, presumably to the gods, "Here is your sacrifice. May the life of this man give me new energy to find the desgraciados and make them pay for what they did to me." At that moment, Saúl appears and asks her what's going on, "it looks like a ritual or witchcraft." He goes on to say that he wants to talk to her about the violence that occurred in the barrio. She turns to leave, he grabs her arm, she pulls away, grabs a big shovel, and threatens "Don't touch me!" She tells him that he should convince his people in the barrio to leave her land, because this is her land. She walks away, and after a moment's hesitation, Saúl runs after her.

La Doña (Cap. 4) - Viernes - 3 of 4

There then ensues a somewhat ludicrous scene that looks as if it belongs in an action film. To escape from him, AG enters a construction elevator. Saúl enters one right next to it, and the two elevators rise high above the ground. Channeling his inner James Bond, Saúl climbs out the top of the elevator, grabs onto the partly constructed building, and manages to swing onto the elevator containing AG.

Meanwhile, Braulio drives by a man sitting on the curb. He asks the man if he's hungry. When the man says yes, Braulio tells him to get into the car and they'll go get some food. The man is reluctant, but eventually he agrees. Once he's inside the car, Braulio locks the doors. Alarmed, the man asks, "What do you want with me?" Braulio responds, "A little relief." He then grabs the guy and bangs his head repeatedly against the dashboard. While he's doing so, he's remembering the disparaging things AG had said to him. Once the man is dead, Braulio tosses the body onto the street and drives off.

Mónica comes to take her father home from the hospital. He tells her the trip was a waste of time, and he knows that she has a bunch of prescriptions that she has no money to fill. She tells him that the way to move forward is to have faith. All will be well.

Saúl and AG continue their little tête-á-tête in the elevator. He tells her she has no soul, just a lovely body. If you want, you can be naked, but only imbeciles are going to be attracted to you. We real men like a different type of woman.

Felipe tells Regina that AG continues not to answer his calls. He think she may have had something to do with what happened in the barrio. Regina tells him to have faith in his wife. He replies that AG has given him no reason to do so.

Back at Lidya's (where Mónica has been staying), Lydi comes back happy with all the money she has made selling her baked goods. Mónica proposes that the two of them will work together, with Mónica singing as Lydi sells.

Azucena has sewed a jacket for Ximena. Ximena is delighted, telling her that she has an interview with a very important law firm. She admits that at first she liked working with Saúl, but she wants to have her own career, she doesn't want to be left behind (no me quiero quedar atrás).

Felipe finally gets to talk with AG. He asks questions about Guillermo. She doesn't like his being interested in her dealings. She finally proposes that if he agrees not to meddle in her affairs, he can make love to her as often as he'd like.

Lopecito and Saúl are meeting in a cafe with a TV. The television reporter is playing Guillermo's supposed confession. Saúl doesn't buy it. He points out to Lopecito that the reporter is the same one who dirtied his father's image, and now she's doing the same thing with Guillermo. Lopecito tells him as a friend, "Be careful with La Doña. She's the Devil." After Saúl mentions that she has a good body, Lopecito asks whether he's gotten involved with her. Saúl assures him that he hasn't. He admits that she could make any man lose his head, but he assures Lopecito that he won't lose his reason, his head, nothing.

La Doña (Cap. 4) - Viernes - 4 of 4

Yesenia comes to see Lázaro. He is NOT happy to see her. He fears that AG sent her to try to get back her daughter, and he tells Yesenia that she could do so only over his dead body. Yesenia tries to assure him that she came for nothing evil. She tells him, "As soon as AG got your business and your fortune, she threw me out on the street. I hate her as much as you do." Lázaro takes something out of his pocket. [I have no idea what it is.] He says, "Guillermo has to explain this to me." Yesenia tells him that the only way to beat AG is to be united. Lázaro asks what Yesenia gets out of this. Her answer: "Vengeance."

Mónica sings outdoors in front of the area where Lydi is selling her food. People applaud the singing and leave money. Eventually, Lydi asks if she's going to stop. It turns out that she hasn't been able to sell anything while Mónica was singing. Mónica offers to go to the corner and sing there. Lydi suggests that perhaps Saúl can arrange for her to sing in a real auditorium with lots of people and she could become a star. Mónica says she doesn't want to ask Saúl for more favors. He's already done more than enough, and besides, his novia isn't all that happy with his attention to Mónica. Lydi is no fan of Ximena. She and Mónica reconcile and are enjoying themselves when suddenly someone grabs Lydi's fanny pack and runs off. Mónica wants to call the police, but Lydi tries her best to stop her. The police arrive, and Mónica starts telling them they were robbed, while Lydi insists nothing happened. The police then ask whether the two of them have been doing business without paying a fee. The next thing Mónica knows (and Lydi probably anticipated), the police have confiscated all their possessions except for those that passersby seem to be taking for themselves. The two girls look on in dismay as the episode ends.

Silvana

Muchas gracias como siempre, novelera. Loved your recap and found it helpful as well. I enjoyed "Benji and his suspenders show up at the bakery," but it does seem as if his arrival is no laughing matter. As you point out, he leaves with a not-so-veiled threat against Don Benito.

I continue to be impressed with Majo's talent as a mentirosa . When AJ is interrogating her, she very quickly comes up with alternative explanations, not just once, but over and over again. I am a bit surprised, though, that having lived with her all her life, AJ doesn't see that she's lying. I mean, her explanations are skillful, but her manner often gives her away, or should.

Thanks very much for la cabra tira al monte and for the jokes between Stella and Dom. I don't even remember there being a third one. Probably I was still thinking about the answer to the second one, which should have been obvious, but....

I'm heartened by the fact that Telemundo is now playing previews every night for La Fan, along with the word pronto. Ojalá.

La Doña

Yes, I know, I said I'd try to have the La Doña recap up this morning. Well, I did try, and except on the East Coast, I succeeded, at least in the US. :-)

Silvana. Excellent recap as usual, J. I too was amused by "Benji and his suspenders show up." Benji is getting downright sinister, and I was a little surprised to see him again. Chivis' not telling AJ about her and Manuel is becoming tiresome, also MJ's continual lying to him about Vicente. Wonder what kind of maneuvering he'll be doing to try to separate both couples. Are Roberto and Esteban up to something? Will they turn the tables on AJ? Are we done with Sara? Maybe not. Andres is beginning to be annoyingly weak. I'm glad Lucha called a uber rather than personally rescuing him this time. Juanita: I haven't been impressed enough with the La Fan trailers yet to think that it will be a great improvement on Silvana, but who knows? We can always hope!

SILVANA:

Thanks so much, J. Count me in as surprised Benji is back, and making threats. Where's he been all this time? What's the point? I really don't want DB getting hurt being the reason Marg finally sees the light.

SpanProf- Glad I wasn't the only one getting annoyed with Andres. It's bugged me for a long time that despite knowing how Lucha feels about him, he always whines to her about Majo. Now, on top of that, he's getting drunk before calling her. Man up, dude! Quit whining and drinking, and take action. Confront Majo if you want answers, or move on. But please stop crying and slobbering on Lucha's shoulder.

I was listening to Chivis express her fears to Manuel, but for the life of me, I couldn't understand what the problem was. If AJ gets a mansion, so what. Let him go live there by himself (or better yet, with Trini). Why would Chivis need to move in with him? She has custody of Lupita (I really don't think a judge would let a criminal like AJ have any say over Lupita's education or custody), and the other two daughters are adults who would surely choose to continue living near the men they love. Why is she in such a panic over this. It's only an issue if she lets AJ steamroll over her. When are we going to see strong Chivis again?

Silvana

Oops, I thanked novelera for the Silvana recap, but in fact I should have thanked J. Both of you do great recaps, but still, I should have connected my brain (what's left of it) to my fingers before typing. Oh well, many thanks, J!!

Silvana

I strongly agree with Vivi and SpanProf about Andrés becoming annoyingly weak. I keep wondering what Lucha sees in him, but then again, I also keep wondering what Vicente AND Andrés see in Majo.

Vivi, you make a great point about Chivis' fears being unwarranted. Though I don't think Lupita would willingly be separated from AJ.

SpanProf, I too am not at all impressed with the trailers for La Fan. Now that I've begun to watch La Doña, I think that's the novela I'll stay with. I have to confess, the excesses and absurdities of Silvana (e.g., the 3 Stooges) have made me very wary of committing to another so-called comedy. I'm happy that La Doña will probably free me from having to think about a comedy, at least for the next few months.

SILVANA:

Juanita- I agree, Lupita won't like it. But Lupita won't like them getting divorced either, and I certainly hope Chivis doesn't intend to stay in a marriage with AJ simply because Lupita doesn't like it. If she wants to see her father, she can visit him on the weekends in his "mansion", like any other kid of divorced parents.

La Doña:

Thanks so much for this extraordinary recap, Juanita. I only saw a bit of the episode. I couldn't watch as poor Guillermo got buried alive, and I'm certainly glad I missed Braulio killing that innocent homeless man.

Is AG's husband really going to accept sex in exchange for keeping his mouth shut? Surely, there are easier things he could do to get sex regularly from another woman. He must have really enjoyed nearly dying during sex. :)

Silvana

thanks so much J for the recap!
I really love your style and it's so nice of you to do these.

La Doña

wow, you went all out Juanita, and it's really helpful for getting acquainted with all the new characters and plots, thanks!

there was a touching scene in the hospital chapel when Monica alone totally broke down, always the strong face for others, but what a burden to be taking care of an invalid parent in a wheelchair with nothing to your name.

so how many times did Saúl confirm to Lopecito that he wouldn't fall for La Doña, did he convince himself?

at least Ximena isn't going to sit around and whine, but is off to make a name for herself, hmm, will her jealousy push her to the dark side?

I don't know if Braulio actually killed that guy, although he could have, I was thinking he just gave him a good beating with those brass knuckles.

I didn't really get that final scene with Monica and Lidya, I thought Lidya had it all figured out or did they move to another place, but what I did see was that one guy took Monica's guitar and case with all the money she made that day.

La Doña

I have a firm rule to only read recaps after I’ve seen the episode, so I MUST get caught up this weekend. Looks like deb has been posting excellent recap/comments. And Juanita wrote a four-parter! Thanks so much to both of you for the, I’m sure, excellent work. I had my monthly dinner get-together with friends last night and only had time, after getting home, to watch Silvana.

I will be sticking with La Doña after Silvana is over. I just may not be able to watch two a night until Silvana is over. Usually my favorite novelas are in the 9:00 time period. I prefer dramatic ones. And Telemundo usually doesn’t have narconovelas at 9:00, preferring to air them at 10:00 pm.

I agree that The Fan doesn’t look good and won’t even try to watch it.

La Doña, Thank you comadre! All that impeccable detail! I'm only just getting my telenovela sea legs back, so I hung on every word. The hideous violence is a bit much, no? But I suppose it reflects a certain reality I would rather not acknowledge. ¡Pobrecitos en el barrio! So Yesenia is a practitioner of witchcraft as well, or is she just psychic? I went and checked out Doña Barbara on Wikipedia, just to get an idea of the provenance of this story (unfortunately, it was a bit spoilers, but I'll survive.) It turns out this story was an international hit when it first came out. I remember my brother (who lives in Moscow) used to tell us that the latest craze was some Spanish show called Barbara something or other. That was decades ago by now.

Silvana

Thanks so much, J. Fine recap as always, and with some very useful translated Spanish.

I am SO over Trini. I don’t quite have the discipline to just FF>> over her scenes. Don Benito is apparently trying out for sainthood in putting up with her.

Vicente is not QUITE as much of a doormat as DB. But he needs to set Majo straight. He’s a terrific young man and doesn’t need to be concealed from her “dadito” at all. In fact, in comparison with the maudlin Andrés, he’s a pillar of strength. His coping method when he thought she was at the church getting married was pizza and sodas (could have been beer; I can’t exactly remember) on the sofa with his sister watching mindless TV. If she’d married Andrés, he’d have coped and moved on.

Yep, that Benji scene was deeply weird. I have to admit to being enough of a bad person that I didn’t hate seeing someone put a little fear into Margarita. She’s been completely hateful toward Angie and her whole family. I vividly remember her putting other girls at the school up to taunting Angie about her father being a criminal. But threatening Don B was too much.

So Stella told AJ that Manuel was in love with Silvana. Monday’s episode should be interesting. I’m afraid it’s too much to hope for that, if he confronts her, she’ll just tell him the truth. She also needs to follow through on her threat to talk with the judge about what’s going on and get him the hell out of her house!

I’m starting to wish for Poncho and Génesis to end up together. Stella doesn’t deserve anything.

Sin Senos

Carmen Villalobos will be la protagonista in the third season.

Juanita, awesome work. Thanks for such a comprehensive recap.

La Doña

Muchas gracias a todas for your great comments. And deb, after reading what you said about the final scene, I went back and looked again. It turns out there were two thieves--one grabbed Lidya's fanny back while the other took Mónica's guitar case which contained not just the guitar but also the money she had earned. For some reason, I focused only on the fanny pack and didn't even notice the second thief. Thanks very much for pointing this out. It's a more serious loss than the one Lidya suffers.

SILVANA

J -
Thank you for the recap! I haven't had time to watch this so I appreciate it! And thank you for Stella & Dom's jokes!

"Majo is tired of everyone in the barrio gossiping about her." If she had not given 'everyone' something gossip about . . .

I'm glad Lucha has common sense did not go rescue a drunk Andres a second time. Maybe she'll get tired of him and move on.

After the bodus interruptus it feels like the day after Christmas in Silvanaland. Can the writers please(!!!) move the rest of the story along now? Porfis?

SILVANA
Amen, Doris. Porfis.

But then we wouldn't have the pleasure of the recaps. Thank you, J for the latest trip into Mentiraland. There is such a thing as a compulsive liar. I think Majo fits the bill. Even when she probably didn't have to lie, in her mind, Majo needs to enhance, change, minimize, maximize, justify all her actions, notably those that might be interpreted by others in a different light.

She's even lied to Vicente, although maybe she finally reached her limit with him and is going to come clean with him in the future. I'm dying to know what she's going to tell Andres--knowing Vicente already told Andres that Majo didn't love him, Andres, but I can't remember if he told Andres that Majo loved him, Vicente.

Yes, let's move it along.

La Dona - I wish I could join you for this one, but I'm committed to Vino. Not having watched the first two episodes of La Dona, I'm already completely lost trying to make sense of it reading the recaps.

I do know I'm not going to watch La Fan.

La Doña

Helen, a couple of days ago, you asked what BSC means when referring to Altagracia. Unfortunately, your question came right before the new Telemundo y Más page was posted, and I think your question went unanswered. I think it means "Bat Sh-t Crazy" (I removed the "i" just in case the page's software zaps such words).
And I do think it's an apt description of Altagracia.

La Doña

Anita, I too felt totally at sea with La Doña at first. What helped was watching the episodes in conjunction with novelera's and deb's recaps/comments for the first three days. I agree that the recaps by themselves, though terrific, really needed to be read together with watching the episodes (which are available on Telemundo's web site, if you've missed them). After three days of watching the episodes and reading the recaps, I felt sufficiently confident/foolish to offer to recap episode 4. I could never have made that offer had I just read the recaps, nor had I just watched the episodes.

La Dona-OT
Thanks, Juanita. I'll give it a try before it gets away from me. I have three more episodes of Yago to finish, then I'll be free for another. I'm finding that I just can't watch more than two tns nightly. It's too time consuming, even if I watch an hour later on the DVR. But if I find one interesting enough I'll work through a third one on-line, on my own time, matching it with the recaps and comments. The only down side of that method is that I can't join in the Caray conversations.

Deb: I'm pretty sure Braulio killed the homeless guy!
