Then I read Thursday and I am shocked and surprise!!DAMN, DAMN!! Daddy Jamie is dead!!
Steve: the body count is crazy!!\
..... AG will be alright! Let see how her JUJU /GRIS-GRIS is working!! Plus good OLD- CASH YANKEE DOLLARS...
Yessenia please hold on to the cash,
It’s a ‘pause for the cause’… if Dona goes up for murder, she has an alibi!!
FRIDAY NIGHT: IT WAS POPPIN'!IT ALL JUMPED OFF
BRAULIO is murderer, even in his off-days, that was an unnecessary struggle/ argument!!
Poor Jaime, the macho to psycho, confrontation ends in his fall!
However the cop/detective lady being right there, so no prevarication in reporting this incident, Karen, she calls it in right away.
The music with that slow motion DEATH was epic, poor JAIME!!
Yesinia hauls ass and Braulio follows her?,
AG tries to DO QUICK-tip- tipping over, to Saul in her jimmy Choo/Vera Wang, on those high heels but they slowed her up…..
Everybody is peeking and running, ducking and hiding, I think Braulio intention/went to kill Yessenia.
Yessenia is running-it-all-down /411 to Lazaro about the $$ hook up and the horrible death, she is a wreck!! You forgot,,? Regina knows you were there, but the excuse was on point, the cops and cash would have been a done deal!! ….
..Azucena and Ximena head over- to- heart- ache, poor woman, and to eye spy that her poor husband, I know Azucena wants to grab AG and choke her to death with her own big hair !! They had to hold back mom, she was two second off of catching a murder case, she put up a struggle ,cause her girls popped out of her bra in anger and grief, they blurred out the nipple action…..
Payback is a bitch!! But let see if Karen has b*lls.
Corruption and power class dynamics is in play.
The grits hits the road with whether its detainment of AG, ‘Cuff –Her- Danno’,
…..Braulio overplayed his hand when he called Rafael in a panic!!
….The other bodyguard/goony?? is with COL.Cespedes, shadow bodyguard is cooking and hitting him up and this isn’t no skin popping, he‘s working with silver cane on the mainline! Dude still ain’t piss himself yet! he pretty clean!!....
The dope fiend[by now] is crying about how AG is worse than the monkeyed, Yes it is true to somewhat ,WTF’ where are her sexual victims and she hasn’t rape you on that table yet, [ poetic justice needed then…bring the lube, or castration works for me, but then these are options you never see in Latinos soaps ??Males cringe!]…. ,
It was deep how AG KNOWS THE SCORE/ recognize her immunity but not with Saul, the spell is broken!!
The confab of Rafael and his slimy wife was interesting, very cynical about how they manipulate the public.
tHE SADDEST SCENE IS WHEN The whole family is sitting around the po-lice station waiting for MS.AG’S PERP-WALK! Well, isn’t going to happen!!
Poor det. Karen, then the clincher** they assign killer cop= Gabino on the fake case,’WTF’, straight up b*** sh**!! So the fix is in!!
NO JUSTICE!! NO PEACE!!
The barrio is in ...’we know what’s going to happen next ‘mode!
That power mad, Captain Gabino , I want to smack the smirk off his face with an aluminum baton!!
Felipe and Guillermo discuss the mainstream media representations and how will they help/harm this case, Felipe recalls how he may have incited Jamie!! YOU THINK??
THEN THE SOULS APPEAR ,THE POOR INNOCENT GIRLS!! DUDE IS DYING/O.D.!!
We need Perry Mason to come solve this conspiracy.
Saul & the Good Guys have another roadblock once again!
AG is WORSE than Yago.
Just the facts:
The interview/photo session is in full swing with an overwhelmed Vale fainting and the magazine people asking for more intimate photos of her and Lucas. Vale is scandalized by what people would think.
Benicio tells Carlos all about the man in the photo with Adriana. Diego is using his daughter. Carlos will have Diego taken care of
tonight.
Agustin calls for an ambulance for Salma. He expresses his love for her. She "regains consciousness" at the hospital when she finds out the doctor will be pumping her stomach. She tells Agustin it was all a publicity stunt. She tells him to tell the press and Lucas she is between life and death.
Gabriel tells Lucas about Salma's suicide attempt. When he, Lucas and Vale arrive at the hospital it is a media mess. Lucas goes in to see Salma. After a semi-tender moment with Lucas, Salma admits it was all a publicity stunt. Lucas does not want to be a party to her farce. She reminds him he has no choice since she knows all about the "fan farce." In the meantime, Agustin has given Vale a letter from Salma blaming her for ruining her life by taking Lucas away from her.
Vale shows Lucas the letter and breaks it all off with him. She cannot be responsible for causing Salma so much pain. She tells the reporters at the hospital she and Lucas have broken up. Salma is released from the hospital and Lucas takes her home.
At the cafe, Eloisa is visited by "a" Carlos Lopez who is not "her" Carlos Lopez. He quotes his mother a lot and admits he never knew an Eloisa but did know "Soledad" (loneliness). He wants to see her again and soon.
Diego wins the challenge at the bowling alley. Adriana takes him out to eat at her favorite restaurant which is a sushi place. Diego is like a fish out of water and makes the bad mistake of thinking the wasabi is avocado. Adriana takes him home where he is attacked by three thugs outside the cafe. One tells him the beatdown is to make him forget about Adriana. Vale arrives and breaks up the attack. Diego goes inside the cafe where Miguel and Jessica minister to his wounds as Miriam and Vale look on. Later Diego tells Vale that the beating was because he was involved with a "high class" girl that somebody didn't want him seeing.
The next day at work, Lucas explains Salma's publicity stunt to Vale. Gabriel corroborates the info. Vale decides she really does not want to break up with Lucas but does not want to suffer from bad press for being the reason of the "suicide" attempt. She has and idea: she and Lucas can have a secret relationship! Lucas does not look impressed.
Diego goes to work where Adriana sees he has been beaten up and also discovers he has been cut in the abdomen and is bleeding. She tells him she won't let anything bad happen to him.
GoBlueFan- Are you asking, will Saul forgive AG for killing his father (if that's the conclusion he comes to)? Then, no. Will he forgive Yesenia and Lazaro if/when he finds out they lied about AG's alibi when his dad was killed? Not sure. He'll certainly be majorly ticked off.
It was interesting to watch all the facts about AG's past actions hit Saul, and drive the logical conclusion that AG is an evil woman, who would kill anyone (even the innocent) to get what and who she wants. This is all true, but of course in this particular case, she's innocent. Even sweet, timid Margarita had a story of how AG threatened to destroy her, if she opened her mouth about their discussions about Miguel. That was the last straw. Saul could not ignore the evidence of AG's evil anymore.
Netflix currently has two interesting offerings:
"Juana Inés": A Netflix-Mexican seven part series about Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz the 17th century poet and writer. I have watched the first episode so far and it was excellent .
"Ixcanul" (2015) (Guatemala) A drama in the Mayan language that portrays a contemporary slice of life of the rural Mayan indigenous population. It focuses on the life of a teenage girl headed into an arranged marriage but dreaming of running away to the USA.
In theaters now: " Un padre no tan padre" (2017) (Mexico) A curmudgeon is kicked out of a nursing home and when he has to go live with his youngest son, cultures collide. The audience never stopped laughing. The English subtitles did not do justice to the old man's colorful way of expressing himself.
Muchísimas gracias, Jarifa, for this wonderful recap! I haven't yet had a chance to see the episode, but I'm not sure I'll be able to, so your recap is all the more needed and appreciated.
Thanks, too, for the info about "un padre no tan padre." Sounds like fun.
SpanProf, "decent" is the perfect descriptor for Vale. Salma is so much the opposite that it waspathetic when Agustín and Lucas had to remind her about how her fake suicide might affect her son Rodrigo. So, in spite of trying to be a better mother, it is as if if when Rodrigo is out of sight he is totally out of mind.
Vivi: When I saw Lazaro giving Yesenia an alibi, I knew that this was going downhill very fast.
Saul will be PISSED OFF at both Yesenia & Lazaro (IF both make it alive before the Gran Final of this TN).
I'm not even sure Yesenia will make it to the Gran Final.
Gobluefan: Saul is addicted to AG's goods. He can't control himself & can't stop.
Monica is better off with the doctor.
Jarifa - Thank you for the recap!!! And another good episode.
Lucas always mugging for the cameras reminds me of Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson in Zoolander.
Luc's faces over Vale dumping him was funny. He has probably never been dumped. What an ego! LOL Probably fairly typical in the industry, too.
"Decent" is an excellent adjective for Vale!
"Shallow" is one of my adjectives for Lucas.
"Carlos Lopez" was a hoot. He probably still lives at home with his mother, but he seemed nice.
Over the weekend, I had to watch our DVR recording of the classic movie "Soapdish."
It had to have inspired some of the characters on La Fan.
I'm interested to know if Lopez, his wife & kid are in danger next because after what we've seen happen to Daddy Aguirre, NOBODY is safe!
SOAPDISH IS THE BOMB!!!
YESENIA is holding it down, she knows that ‘GAME- RECOGNIZE- GAME” this is not a poetry reading, you’re dealing with killers, all –bets- are- off!!
We are making chess moves, the survivor is the winner, but these people are the poor and disenfranchised!! They have the moral compass of survival in face of unbalance, persecution and injustice!! They are not equal to the power, social position/ economic status their oppressors.
..AG knows she isn’t gonna do one minute of time for the death of Jaime!!Is Saul arguing in defense of DONA??! Flash back: Flash flash flash.
That nomenclature ‘SHE-WHO-WILL-NOT-BE-NAMED!! …AWESOME!!... Then to see ‘SWWNBN’ went into her alter-space and ask spirit family for support/moral support in her time of need, KARMA is an ITCH-BAY!!
Her family in heaven are most likely sick of defending her to GOD/ so-Embarrassing! Her poor family are in heaven praying and asking the Lord for intervention on her behalf to bring back to the fold]!
What‘s up, with the “Bind –your- Auntie “, spell?? Yessenia where is your counter protection? Girl, time to get that Mojo Working! do you want to get a hook up from my Mali / Senegalese African hair braider ??
Felipe and Regina, sorry, but this chick dresses like a nun, I cannot take that red skirt another day!! Burn her clothes!! Felipe talk to this chick please, don’t that car have a back seat? Just saying! Don’t drink behind it.
Ximena and Braulio, Ximena is the next to die!!
Matamoros is checking in, because AG can’t do her usual BTK appointment with the col., the cops are hot on her behind! She wants Yesenia, so hiring thug works very well.
Yesenia is at the bank, and get the 1st lesson in money laundry 101, but hiding out isn’t her forte.
Why Saul at Felipe, Saul is wants to beat Felipe for agitating his dad, but he is looking for an out for the twitching b*t*h’?!
Just some facts
Lucas tells Vale he cannot have a secret romance with her. After interventions from Gabriel telling her that 97% of fans prefer her to Salma and Salma making a public announcement that Vale was not the reason for her suicide attempt, Vale agrees to be Lucas' novia again and the farce continues. In the midst of this all, Lucas seems to be impressed by Vale's ethics.
Adriana decides to call a doctor for Diego. Jessica shows up and wants to take him to an emergency room. Not exactly sure of who Jessica is, Adriana tells her Diego is staying because his condition got worse since he came to work so it is now her responsibility. Jessica stays and runs into Carlos. She makes sure he knows she came for Diego and not him. Later, Adriana asks Jessica if Diego is having money problems. Jessica profusely thanks Adriana for the loan. Adriana is confused but says nothing. She then asks if Benicio gave him a loan. He says of course not.
Salma talks to Rodrigo to explain that the suicide was for publicity. Rodrigo knew it was a lie and even if she is not the best mom, she is his mom and he loves her. Vale tells Tomás the truth about the suicide publicity stunt. He likes Lucas on tv but not in person. What about the wedding?
"Carlos López" comes to visit Eloísa with a bouquet and his "mami" in tow. Mami is diabetic and Carlos insists that she not have anything with sugar. Eloísa makes her plain tea but somehow she finds the sugar she wants, gorges herself on it and falls ill. They call an ambulance for her. She ends up dying and Carlos López comes for some comfort from Eloísa throwing himself into her arms in grief.cio
Carlos talks to Benicio. No more beat downs fro Diego right now. He just wants Benicio to keep him and Adriana apart. He also thinks that Benicio would make a good husband for Adriana.
Jessica makes sure Diego gets home. The doctor said he has to go home and rest for the rest of the day. Miguel asks how his boss Adriana is. Jessica calls her too serious and embittered and also mentions how she had a strange expression on her face when Jessica mentioned the loan she had made to Diego.
The detective has taken Salma up on her deal but for even more money. She will find out the paternity results tomorrow.
Agustín brings Salma food, some news about Vale being at the party, and love to help her forget Lucas.
Vale accompanies Lucas to a birthday party for Carlos. Lucas sees it as an opportunity to meet his whole family. They all like Vale. Vale makes a point of talking to Adriana and telling her that Diego was beat up because of whatever relationship she has with him.
Adriana slips out of the party and goes to see Diego. She needs to find out if he was beat up because of her.
Luca is taking Vale home and tells her she does not know how special she really is. He kisses her and it looked like it was for real this time.
Lucas' "acting" around Vale just cracks me up. It was such a close call when Vale caught him and Salma kissing after Lucas had just told Salma that he was doing the Vale "fan" routine for her, for him, for "them." And then Salma taking the full blame.
It would not surprise me if Jessica still ends up with Carlos somehow for something. They were too much into arguing and insulting each other.
LXV: Saul will NEVER get justice for Daddy Aguirre's death since the majority of the law enforcement agencies are in AG's back pocket.
HALIMACANDY: I'm with you on Ximena being the next to get whacked since she's going to be a liability & psycho Braulio is going to kill MORE people in the cast before this TN ends.
I still don't see Lazaro & Yesenia being among the living either.
We still don't know who Isabel's father is.....
Saúl comes to see AG, telling her that since she didn't go to make a public statement, he has come to see her. He tells her that everything points to her having caused his father's death. And the fix is in: Gabino Dominguez is in charge of the investigation. She claims she doesn't know who that is. "No? He's the cop who committed perjury at the trial of your friend Rafael Cabral's son." Regina comes in and tells Saúl that AG didn't kill his father. She, Regina, spoke to Yesenia on the phone when she was waiting for AG at the construction site. Saúl counters, "I too spoke to Yesenia. She swears that AG invented the whole story. Yesenia was never at the construction site." AG replies, "Because she hates me. It's a trap."
Meanwhile, Yesenia is in a car, struggling with the two men who kidnapped her. She says she knows that AG ordered them to kidnap her, and if she dies, everyone will know who did this.
Mónica is visiting Lydia in the hospital. Mónica admits that since the death of Saúl's father, she's no longer sure she wants to leave now. She wants to be there for him, she doesn't want him to be alone. Lydia tells her that this is the moment to fight for him.
Regina leaves. AG tells Saúl that she too has lost her parents, and that "I'm not a saint, but I would never do anything to hurt you." She tells him that he brings out the best in her. He asks, "Have you ever killed anyone?" She replies, "I'm a hunter. I kill wild animals because they deserve it, they do harm [apparently she's including the Monkeys], but the lives of human beings are sacred." He tells her, "I too am talking about "sacred" persons, and I'm warning you, if anything happens to any of them, I'll never forgive you."
Isabela, Emiliano, and Diego are arguing. She says she and Emiliano have done nothing, not even embraced. Diego, of course, has seen them, and knows she's lying. He tells her "Our relationship is a lie to keep our families quiet, but from now on, you guys can do what you want, and so will I."
Lydia tells Mónica to look around her, there are so many people who never meet someone they care for, never feel true love. "Look at me," she continues, "I almost died without even having met a guy who truly cares for me." Mónica tells her that if she stays, it won't be to conquer Saúl but rather to support him. "Think what he's going through. My father is sick, but at least I have him. I would die if my father left me." [Uh oh]
Felipe calls Lázaro and tells him Saúl came to see him, and he (Felipe) may have done a stupid thing. "I told him AG made me lie and threatened to put the blame on me for the death of the woman she ordered killed." Lázaro says yes, Felipe did a bad thing. He gave out information that he can't control. In the wrong hands, it could do much harm.
AG tells Saúl that she didn't order any woman's death. OK, he says, let's talk about Margarita. Did you threaten her not to tell me that she had already spoken with you about Miguel Preciado? AG claims that Margarita brought back memories of what happened to her. She hates Preciado because "he did to Margarita exactly what they did to me." Saúl asks her what she would do to the people responsible for killing her parents. He wants to know, because he needs to know what he has to do to whoever killed his father.
Azucena is distraught over Jaime's death. She wants to find the person responsible, but she also wants to bury Jaime and can't stand the delay. Ximena tells her that they need to do tests to try to find DNA to identify the killer. Azucena says she knows who killed him: AG.
Braulio meets in his car with a guy to whom he gives an envelope filled with money. The guy gives him a piece of paper that apparently sums up the evidence in Jaime's death. Braulio tells the guy he wants the report to say that the death was accidental, that Jaime slipped and fell from the construction site. And the body should be turned over to the family for burial as soon as possible so they'll stop asking questions.
Saúl tells AG that he thought behind "La Doña's" armor was a sensitive, different woman, but he was wrong. The hard woman remains, who is willing to do anything to get what she wants or to avenge what has been done to her. A seemingly hurt AG says that she told him about her past and now he's using that against her. He replies that Miguel Preciado disappeared a day after being with her, and now Alejandro Céspedes has disappeared. Both men belonged to a group called "The Monkeys" who raped and killed young girls twenty years ago in Veracruz. "You were one of their victims, no?" She denies having heard of that group and that she was not their victim.
Mónica runs into Dr. Adolfo at the hospital. He asks about her father, and she says she's worried because he's having a lot of headaches, and the blinking has returned. Adolfo offers to come to her place and examine her father. She's delighted.
AG insists again to Saúl that Yesenia was with her at the construction site. Saúl asks why they were there. AG says she was trying to reconcile with Yesenia. Saúl expresses his disbelief. He says the only thing he's sure of is the death of his father and the image of AG high up on the construction site looking at him. "If you were trying to reconcile, why does Yesenia insist that she was never there? And why does Felipe say you were responsible for that woman's death that you were using to extort him, why does Margarita say you threatened her, why does Ximena swear that you blackmailed her to get her away from me? And the "why" that most hurts me: why is my father dead?" I think he ends by saying their relationship is over.
No sooner does Saúl leave than Matamoros calls to tell her that Yesenia is where she ordered her men to bring her. AG says she's on her way. In the background is Regina, who asks where AG is going. AG says she doesn't want any more questions.
Adolfo returns with Mónica to her place. Lázaro is worried about Yesenia. Adolfo gets him to calm down and starts to talk with him about fútbol. Mónica is impressed with how well Adolfo gets along with her father. She remembers Lydia's talking about finding someone who cares for her. Mónica wonders, "Will it be Adolfo?"
Emiliano and Isabela arrive at a large, loud outdoor party thrown by one of Emiliano's friends. Isabela feels uncomfortable.
AG arrives at the dark location where Yesenia is being held. She tells the men to leave and berates Yesenia for being a rat who fled from the construction site and then lied to Saúl. AG claims she just wants Yesenia to tell the truth. Yesenia replies that if she told the truth, she tell them AG was giving her money so she wouldn't say "you had been married to Lázaro, whom you robbed of everything, and you abandoned your daughter, who died in misery while you enjoyed the grand life." AG takes out a pistol, which she points at Yesenia and tells her that she doesn't care what others know, "because people like me don't go to prison." Yesenia tells her to go ahead and shoot, because AG is being punished where it hurts her most, with the man she loves, thanks to Yesenia.
Adolfo examines Lázaro, who admits that he's seeing less and less each day. Adolfo urges Lázaro to talk to Mónica, because he's going to need her help. Lázaro says he will, when the time comes, but for now he wants her to see him as a strong man, because she doesn't have anyone else, just him. Unseen, Mónica overhears him, and overhears Adolfo's reply: "No, no, Mónica isn't alone. She has me." Lázaro asks whether he's in love with her. Yes, replies Adolfo, but she wants me just as a friend. Lázaro tells him that like all young people, Mónica prefers her dreams to the reality that's right in front of her. He continues, "I'm sorry she doesn't return your feelings. If I stay in the capital, I'd like her to be with a good man, like you."
Diego comes to see Lydia. She's unhappy in the hospital, where everything is cold, including the people. She desperately wants to leave. He says he can't help her leave, but he can take her to the patio. This makes her very happy.
Regina has followed AG. She pulls up next to her car, gets out, and tries to move quietly, but AG's men discover her.
Saúl and Karen meet at the police station. She says it's clear that people are hiding things, and that she had to work hard to get him an appointment with the assistant district attorney (subprocurador) so he could make his statement directly to him.
AG still has her gun pointed at Yesenia. Yesenia says that AG is becoming like one of the Monkeys. AG is furious. Yesenia again tells her to go ahead and shoot, so her parents can see what has become of their beloved daughter whom they adored. "Go show Saúl and yourself that you are never going to change." At that moment, the men bring Regina to AG. Yesenia calls out to her, and Regina sees AG pointing a gun at Yesenia.
Saúl meets with the assistant district attorney, who eventually says, "Let's cut to the chase. You have a proposal for me, yes?" Saúl realizes that he expects a bribe. He leaves. He then talks to another official, who pays no attention and soon leaves to take a call from his girl friend.
AG is angry that Regina followed her. Regina says "I know that what Yesenia is doing is terrible, but..." Yesenia interrupts, not understanding why Regina says this. Regina says they both know that AG is innocent of Jaime's death, and it's Yesenia's fault that AG is losing the love of Saúl, the man who is helping her be a better person. Yesenia says AG will never change. AG fires her gun near Yesenia and tells her that if she doesn't shut up, the next shot will be for her. Regina pleads with AG, and AG finally says that she'll let Yesenia go, but only thanks to Regina.
A frustrated Saúl tells Karen about his experiences with the two men who were supposed to take his statement. She says she's sorry that in Mexico things are this way. She also tells him that the autopsy on his father revealed no signs of a struggle (forcejeo), nor were they able to prove that another person was there. They're going to declare the death an accident.
At Emilio's friend's party, the friend takes out a pistol and wants to play Russian roulette. He asks Emiliano if he's afraid. To Isabela's dismay, Emilio quickly accepts the challenge. The friend shoots first. Click. Then Emiliano. Click. They go another round, after which Emiliano shoots up into the air. That round carried the bullet. He's exultant.
On the patio, Diego tells Lydia she looks beautiful. He takes photos. He also has brought her juices and snacks. She tells him he's made her day.
Adolfo tells Mónica that if ever her father feels ill, she should call him and he'll come. He then sees the guitar and says he thought it had been stolen. She says it had, that this was a going-away gift from Saúl.
Lydia again sees Diego's bruises and asks whether la chava treated him badly. He says he knows who the other guy is: his best friend.
At the party, there's a loud call for una horchata. Isabela asks what that is. Emiliano explains that people change partners for a while, but only for some kisses, nothing more. [I know a horchata only as a drink, but they're clearly not using the word this way here.]
At the wake for Jaime, Azucena warns Saúl that AG better not show up. If she does and wants to leave alive, Azuncena says, she'll have to kill me.
Yesenia and Lázaro decide not to go to the wake. After Mónica leaves, Yesenia tells Lázaro that she had been kidnapped by AG's men. Yesenia says they have to leave, and they can do so now, since they have the money. Lázaro asks how they'll explain that to Mónica. Yesenia says she doesn't know, but they have to get Mónica away from AG, the woman is an assassin.
Lopecito tells Valeria he's finished his work and has to leave. She stops him. They talk. He tells her that the only thing he wants her to tell him is whether he's someone who can help her get rid of her anger or someone with whom she was in love.
Daniel comes to the wake for Jaime. Karen comes up to him and says, "So you're Daniel Llamas."
AG tells Céspedes that she's going to inject him with something that will cause hallucinations, nausea, trembling, paranoia, and panic attacks, the same panic attacks that she suffered since he and his friends crossed paths with her. He pleads with her not to do that, and he says he will give her a name: Daniel Llamas.
At the wake, Saúl tells Mónica that he's not only saying goodbye to his father, he's also saying goodbye to many of the things his father taught him to believe in, such as justice. She urges him to continue being just, and to honor his father by being the lawyer that he has always been. No, says Saúl, the correct way is useless. The autopsy was false. They want to make it seem as if my father fell. If the laws don't work, I am going to find the way to resolve this. Keeping to the just path has put my head in the clouds, but no longer. As of today, I will drag into hell all the people who are trying to make me look like a fool. I swear to you, papá (a partir de hoy, a todas las personas que me quieran ver la cara, las voy a arrastrar hasta el infierno. ¡Te lo juro, papá!). End of episode.
Again, I'm sorry this was so late. The word-count nazi and I disagreed, and so too did the Catpcha, plus some other problems that caused me to have to close the browser and start again. Arrgh.
I'll be away for about a week, so I won't be able to do any recaps next week. I don't know whether I'll have any access to Telemundo while I'm away. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there will be some recaps.
Juanita- What a wonderful going away present you gave us! Amazing recap.
Is this a turning point for Saul? No more Mr. Niceguy. I can't believe that he'll really break the law though. I guess we'll see.
AG tells so many lies while she's telling the truth, I don't know how she expects Saul to believe her. She didn't even blink as she said all that bs about people's lives being sacred to her, when she sees people (like Guillermo, the prostitute, Felipe's assistant) as collateral damage, just as Saul said.
Jarifa- Thank you so much for both of your great recaps this week. I’ve finally caught up! I’ve been enjoying this cute little tn.
It seems that both Lucas and Gabriel are falling for Vale, without realizing it. They are amazed by her courage, honesty, generosity, and that she’s so genuine. This scam they are pulling on her is cruel, but I think once she finds out, it is THEY who will be the most hurt by the fallout. Vale will rise above it all.
Ooh, I hope we find out next episode is Gabe or Lucas is the father. I’m guessing it will indeed be Lucas, but Salma will pull another tn trick out of her extensions and do a switch with the results. Gabe will be thrilled to think he’s the father.
I like that none of the villains are truly evil, nor are they annoying (e.g. Silvana Sin Lana). They are all a combination of selfish, self-centered, greedy, or ambitious, but they’re also amusing.
wow, you sure do go all out on your recaps, thanks so much Juanita!
it's quite intriguing to watch Saul interrogate AG, she is sincere, but never tells the complete truth.
so Daniel is next, whoa, will AG kill him? will she even kidnap him (she always meets with her victims first) because if she takes him she won't be able to let him go.
Jarifa - Thank you for the recap!!!
Salma and Jessica appear to be wearing the same purple lipstick.
Jessica's dress is very distracting, with that one set of pink lips over her right bosom.
Lucas' cowboy hat sits awfully high on his head, like it is a size too small. Or ... maybe his head is too big? (LOL)
Vale's yellow dress ..... ayyyy ..... yellow is a color that makes people angry and makes the wearer look fat.
Wardrobe Dept is very clever, as always, in telenovelas.
I don't recall who predicts Jessica ends up with Carlos, but .... hhhmmmmm .... I can see it. Except for the age difference. She is probably one of the few people who sasses him.
Carlos Lopez' "Mami" overdosing on sugar and dying was a bit over the top.
The P.I. was given two items for Tomás' DNA. My bet is that they are different and the DNA shows two different fathers, so it is inconclusive. Or confusing.
Jessica also had about three different hair colors in her updo this episode. I think I was more distracted by that, than the kiss mark dress, or the purple lipstick, or the silver cowboy boots...caray!
Span Prof, it will be interesting if they can sustain this quality in writing and production over the next 120 episodes since they have started out with a bang.
Deb, I love your observations. I will have to watch more carefully. I am up and around doing more listening.
Vivi, "caray!" Indeed!
Deb: I'm with you on Daniel. But we all know the remaining Monkeys are going to get whacked anyways.
Considering that Daniel never participated in the rape of AG or killing of her parents & Cesar, their blood is still on Daniel's hands though.
Thanks again Jarifa! I love the pacing of this TN. I hope it stays this way for the entire run too. It's so much fun to watch.
I wonder if Carlos Lopez's mami is really dead. That actress played the grandma in Quien es Quien so I feel like her role would be longer. Then again, Paloma's mom from Quien es Quien was the woman that Jessica got in a fight with at the salon and who knows if she'll be back or not.
I actually wouldn't mind if Jessica and Carlos end up together. I like how she can stand her ground with him.
Interesting how it only took one conversation and Carlos could tell Gabe was starting to like Vale.
JUANITA AWESOME!! RECAP! OF COURSE!
LVX: thanks, where does Saul live? On what planet??

Its payback time, time for the house to start falling!!
MANY thanks, Vivi, deb, and Halimacandy, for your wonderfully supportive responses to the recap and your great comments on the episode. (I won't pretend it wasn't a special thrill to see "JUANITA THE GODDESS OF RECAPS." :-) )
I'm not sure what Saúl's next move will be. In spite of his words to Mónica about the righteous path not working, I'm not sure I see him going over to the dark side. The gray side, perhaps. We've seen he was willing to enter Miguel Preciado's house without a warrant or a key, but I don't see him throwing away all his old values. And Mónica seems determined not to let him stray too far.
I may or may not be able to follow this novela while I'm away. I'll certainly be logging on to CarayCaray to follow whatever discussion there is, but probably not commenting. See you all late next week.
Lucas drops off Vale with an awkward kiss on the cheek. He looks happy and perplexed at the same time. Vale tells Miriam and Eloísa about the party, the kiss, him not asking her to his apt. Maybe she needs to think about going farther with Lucas.
As Adriana and Diego are talking, Felicitas calls to tell him he needs to come over tomorrow if not today. He cuts it short. Adriana is paying attention and asks if that was the person that gave him the loan. She knows that he has told people that the company had lent him the money but they didn't. Yes, she does know all the truths and all the LIES. He explains about the mortgage payment and how a friend helped him out. She also asks him to clarify just who "Jessica" is: she is an old friend. She also thinks her ex Óscar was responsible for the beating. The next day she calls Óscar to come and see her. She confronts him. He denies it. Pablo tells Benicio they will have to think of some way to definitely remove Diego. Diego recognizes a ring on the hand of a fellow employee as the ring that was on the hand of one of his attackers. He forces the guy to tell him who hired him. The guy says it was Benicio. Diego physically confronts Benicio who denies being involved. Adriana breaks them up but since she knows Diego lied once, she chooses to believe Benicio. Later, she tells her father she is interested in Diego.
Salma just can't with Adrián and tells him it is because she is in love with Lucas and that the thing with the "fan" will be over soon. He disagrees saying that he has seen how Lucas looks at Vale. It is in such a special way and with such love. He says Lucas has never looked at her (Salma) that way.
The detective arrives at Salma's with the DNA results. Gabriel is not the father. Salma is willing to pay him for more. She wants the detective to falsify the results so Gabriel thinks he is the father. He calls Gabriel and tells him just that. Later, Gabriel is chatting with Vale and the subject of Tomás comes up. He asks her how she would feel if "hypothetically" Tomás' father were to appear on the scene. Her reaction is not a good one.
Vale discusses her feeling about the kiss last night with Lucas and her desire to be with him. She is not easy but she loves him. She quotes a line from one of his novelas to express her feelings. He wants to be with her, too. They plan for her to come over to his apartment later that night. In the meantime, Lucas tells Gabriel that Vale wants him to make love to her and he is going to do it. Gabriel does not want to see her hurt. Lucas reminds him it is all his fault: he had the idea of a contest. Gabriel then tells Vale to be careful with Lucas because he is an actor and is sort of shallow. That night, Vale comes over to Lucas' house and starts making supper. They take selfies and have a wonderfully flirtatious time until the strawberry Lucas took a bite of ends up on the floor and he slips on it and falls.
At school, Rodrigo ends up in a fight when a couple of boys tease him about his mother losing her novio. Tomás comes to his aid because he is outnumbered. They become fast friends in spite of who their mothers are. Salma is not happy.
Eloísa cannot get rid of Carlos. His mother is dead and now she has broken his heart. They agree to be friends. She goes to his mother's wake and comes back in tears since there was nobody else there besides her and Carlos.
Diego ends up at Felicitas' studio to give her what she paid for. She is inspired by his bruises. She tells him not to call her señora and to take off his clothes.
My favorite scene was Lucas and Salma fantasizing about their ratings just climbing and climbing. They are so wonderfully superficial!
Diego just can't win.
Jarifa- I am so totally thankful that you are keeping the ball rolling with this one, there is just too much going on here.
Doris- I too am in wonder about Lucas' cowboy hat, he reminds me of Woody in "Toy Story". don't think we will see him in a narco.
hmm, green lipstick on Jessica.
Diego is so spot on getting to the facts, but wait, Adriana seems to be all-knowing, these guys are so perfect for each other, where can we buy the portrait?
Jarifa - Thank you for the recap! I have not watched yet so cannot comment.
deb - Woody in "Toy Story" is spot on. I kept wondering who he reminds me of. The hat sits the same way on his head; done on purpose that way, no doubt. 🤠
Thank you, Jarifa. Salma did exactly what we expected, and made sure Gabriel believes he is Tomas' father. Well, at least he actually WANTS to be the father.
I love that Tomas and Rodrigo ended up being fast friends, despite the drama between their mamas.
Both Lucas' hat and vest are too small. It's definitely on purpose. Woody from Toy Story is the perfect description! :)
Jaime’s wake was a sorrowful affair, with both Azucena and Saul struggling with their grief and anger. Monica is providing a shoulder for Saul to lean on, and Ximena is providing a shoulder for Azucena to cry on, along with Margarita and the other neighbors. While everyone else if focused on their grief, Ximena is laser focused on Monica and Saul. She’s particularly annoyed when Saul and Azucena ask Monica to sing, as Jaime loved music. She sings a low-key acapella version of Ave Maria.
Karen sidles up to Daniel and says she wants to connect with a fellow countryman from Veracruz, who’s doing the same kind of work she’s doing—protecting women. When she visits him at his center the next day, her questions get more pointed and she reveals she knows he went to school with Miguel and Cespedes, who are both now missing. She also mentions the Monkeys. Dan plays dumb, and points out that he’s sure she’s not still in touch with the people she went to high school with.
At the wake, Dan is impressed with Monica’s singing, and offers her a job teaching music to the abused women and children in the center. Monica really likes the idea.
Felipe’s feeling guilty because he thinks he partially provoked Jaime to go confront AG, and he feels lousy for falling off the wagon and telling Saul about AG framing him with the dead woman. He’s ready to throw in the towel on his revenge. Yesenia knows that’s all bs, and a result of him having the hots for Regina, who is NOT on board with his revenge plan. Felipe, Yesenia and Lazaro chat about how to launder the money (Felipe suggests 3 accounts with smaller deposits, and keep the rest in cash), how to explain it to Monica, and how to get her out of the city.
AG is still focused on me, me, me. She calls Monica and insists that she skip out on Jaime’s funeral so that she can come speak to AG about helping her to win Saul back. Then she gets mad at Monica for her hesitation and her rejection of the job as AG’s assistant.
Braulio sees Diego’s bruised face, and since he didn’t cause it (this time), insists that Diego needs to toughen up, and that he’ll begin physical training with him the next day. He blows up Valeria’s phone wondering why she’s not home (she was dining with Lopecito, but says she was at work) but miraculously doesn’t beat her when she gets home. He has a nightmare about nearly getting boinked by AG, and instead getting stabbed by her for his betrayal.
Saul starts his murder board, with AG in the center as his main suspect, and all her cronies, Braulio, Valeria, Rafael, Leticia, as additional suspects. Lopecito takes great offence to Valeria being included as a suspect, and he and Saul nearly comes to blows. Monica gets them to stop fighting, and Lopez leaves. Monica stays to help Saul begin his investigation into his father’s death, pouring over all the documents Saul could find. They work late into the night, both exhausted from not having slept the night before. They end up on the couch, fall asleep with papers in hand, and end up cuddled, with Monica on Saul’s chest. It’s this cozy scene AG stumbles across when she sneaks into Saul’s apartment, and she’s NOT happy.
Vivi: Daniel inviting Monica to sing at the foundation ? Ok. Let's see how that turns out.
I do like Saul's murder board, but he might want to add Yesenia, Lazaro & Gabino to the list.
thanks Vivi!
what a dark show, with an all night wake and burial the next day, Saul at the coffin, his mom by the door swearing she'll kill AG if she shows, the lost soul Ximena hovering about.
and AG, who had a late date with the Colonel, awakes with only thoughts of Saul, and buries Monica with her love for him but then turns on her asking what it is Monica has against her, (easy mom).
and the final scene, AG walking in on Saul and Monica cuddled together, whoa.
and the Colonel has given up Daniel because he botched the job and did not kill AG, who reminds us he still raped her and has to go,
and to keep us on edge, Isabela continues to hang out with Emiliano, and Yesenia continues to play with money, as Lazarus slowly dies.
Deb- Yep, looks like AG will only ever get the name of one Monkey from each one she captures, and this time Daniel is it. He let AG go (and I think Regina too), but he was part of the rape, so he's still got to get his punishment from AG. That should be interesting, because he's not arrogant and drunk on power like the others. But he does want to keep his secret. Will he give up Rafael or the mysterious Francisco?
Vivi- hmm, the Colonel is still around and AG is moving to phase 2, now that he is hooked on that drug, I think she plans to with hold it.
AG uses the Monkey's faults against them, so it will be interesting with Daniel (who's soft spoken manner makes me nervous anyway) and there will be the interview where she determines his guilt.
I'm thinking Daniel doesn't spill but somehow Rafael stumbles on to what's happening, maybe bringing in Francisco, also Saul and Karen are connected to Daniel.
and I'm guessing Emiliano will hang around tauting us with his self-destruction because he will be needed to point the finger at Rafael since he no longer has the tattoo.
Thank you Vivi for the great recap. So detailed and helpful as always.
I think I got the gist of the scene but can someone please tell me what Monica and AG talks about in the Wednesday episode? It looks intense; any interesting bits? or is it all AG being typical everybody-needs-to-do-what-I-say AG? And why did Monica agree to meet with her in the first place?
Deb: Daniel's still going to get his punishment (likely torture by AG & her cronies). I wouldn't be surprised if she has him decapitated or worse.
Vivi: Daniel is not snitching: AKA NO SNITCHING.
Tatiana: I'm looking forward to seeing the remaining Monkeys upping the ante & get revenge on AG. It would serve her right!
Tatiana- AG just insisted to Monica that she needed to see her and needed her help in showing Saul she was innocent. There really wasn't that much more too it. When Monica got there, she pointed out to Monica that she was the only one who defended her (AG) at the scene of Jaime's death (Monica told the cops that they didn't see who pushed Jaime and didn't see AG with Jaime). She spoke about how much she trusts Monica, which is why she's asking Monica to be her advocate with Saul. Monica hesitated about going that far. Then when AG offered her job back and Monica refused, AG got offended and said that it seems to her sometimes that Monica has a problem with her/has something against her. Monica weakly denied this and left. We know that Monica's problem is that she's in love with Saul. And now that AG's seen them cuddled on the couch, she'll likely figure it out.
Steve I do NOT want any Monkeys to get revenge on AG because they have no right. What she's doing to them, they earned, in spades. However, what AG's done to other innocent people has earned her their scorn and possible retaliation.
Just now finished watching this episode and noticed, for the first time, the throw pillows on Salma's sofa with her head shots on them!!!! OMG! Hilarious!
What was that color lipstick on Jessica today? Black? Dark Green? Yipes.
Gabe warning Vale to go slowly and be cautious with Lucas *is* sound advice, but I suspect Gabe also has his own self interests in that.
Lucas slipping on the strawberry might be one of many calamities that keep Vale and him from estar contigo-ing. After all, we've got a long way ahead of us... er ... them. ;-)
