We think that Lucas is going to come clean with Vale when he says he has been lying to her but instead he says he says he just wanted to get her to come over. He tries to seduce her but she is not interested. She wants their "first time" to be more romantic. She leaves. Karina calls him next wanting to say goodbye one more time but he turns her down. His next visitor is Salma. While he and Vale are novios, he suggests that he and Salma can be lovers. She willingly takes him up on that idea.
Adriana is talking to her mother when Diego calls to take her up on the employment opportunity. It turns out Felicitas is moving her studio out of the house and downtown. Natalia the maid is not happy that the eye candy will no longer be in the house. Later when Carlos is talking to Adriana we find out he does not know why there are such bad feelings between Adriana and her mother. Nobody is talking on that one. Adriana's dad has always been everything for her.
Another mystery: at the café, Eloísa gets out a box of important papers to look at the loan agreement. Some papers fall on the floor. One is a photo of a man. We are made to notice the photo which she hides from Diego and Miguel. Miguel gives her the money from his savings and what Miriam gave him. He and Diego say they will help and stick by her to rescue the business.
At work, Benicio will not give Diego an advance on his pay so Diego goes to Felicitas' studio. He is ready to work but she is not. She offers to write him a check for whatever he needs. Advances are no problem for her. After being bored by his mother's sad story, she writes him a big check. When he asks what he has to do, she tells him to get naked. Just then his phone rings: it is Adriana.
Jessica has gotten in over her head by going to Carlos' (his boss') boat/ yacht to give him a massage. He clearly Is in the seduction mode and she is nervous. Her stress level rises when she sees a knife and a wine stained (in her mind a blood stained) towel. Carlos cannot get her to calm down. She calls Vale saying she is going to get killed. Vale shows up with Miriam and her high heel. They proceed to "rescue" Jessica. Carlos gets hit in the head in the process. He calls them all "crazy".Jessica later thinks that maybe he didn't want to abuse her. They all do agree he was good looking.
Gabriel is drinking and thinking about Lucía. From the flashback we see he was in love with her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. She was not so interested in him.
It turns out Miguel loves Miriam, too: as a friend.
Gabriel tells Salma that in 48 hrs. he will know who Tomás' father is.
Lucas and Vale hire Jessica to be Lucas' makeup artist.
The romance between Lucas and Vale is boosting his ratings. Salma is still not happy.
Salma calls a private detective for some investigation of her own.
Lucas has to sign some papers for his brother Carlos. Lucas and Vale are out walking to lunch. Carlos catches up to them on the street and hands Lucas the papers he needs to sign. Carlos also recognizes Vale as one of the crazy women from the night before and addresses her as such!
Karen continues to tell Saul about the school days link between Miguel, Cespedes and Daniel that she found. She’s certain they were part of the Monkeys, and she wonders if the Coronel had something to do with the disappearance of Miguel. But what does Rafael have to do with all this, she wonders? Since Saul has AG and her family breathing down his neck, he cuts the call short. He then plays happy families at dinner with AG, her sister and her niece. They chat about the good old days in Veracruz, and bring up drinking “toros”, a Veracruz specialty beverage of fruit and cane sugar alcohol. When Isabel asks what that is, Saul explains that they drink it a lot during carnivals in Veracruz. AG’s and Regina’s moods darken (remembering that fateful night), but AG seems genuine when she says she one day hopes to return to Veracruz, with the man she loves.
Braulio and Ximena agree to work together to ruin the relationship between AG and Saul. Ximena wonders if he has the hots for AG, but he claims he’s just protecting the interests of the business.
Diego and Lydia don’t end up kissing, and instead take a walk around the hospital. She tells him that her whole family is in North Carolina picking tobacco, but she prefers to stay in her beloved Mexico. Lydia is once again treating Diego like an inexperienced boy, which he doesn’t like. Lydia tells him it would have been a mistake to kiss her. He tells her he’s used to being friend-zoned by girls, and confides in her about the girl he’s liked forever (Isabela), who just told him she’s dating someone else. Does he know who the other guy is? Diego gets all starry eyed talking about Isabela, and says he’s timid with girls. Lydia points out that he hasn’t been timid with her, and he responds that he makes him feel secure. She tells him to use that same attitude when he speak to that girl, and tell her how he feels.
Rafael demands that Emiliano pretend that the photo he saw of him and his buddies doesn’t exit, that he knows NOTHING about the tattoo, and if someone asks him any questions about it, to say nothing.
Yesenia tries to convince Monica not to run back to her small town, just to get away from Saul. She warns her that it won’t be easy to find a good job in her town, but Monica is eager to get away from the whole Saul-AG mess. She tells Yesenia about Jaime’s lawsuit against AG. Monica also tells her how Saul defended AG in front of the whole vecinidad. Monica wants to know why Yesenia is so interested in AG’s relationship with Saul if the two of them are so estranged.
Yesenia goes off to “think”, but makes another extortion call to AG. She has AG put her on speaker phone so that Regina can hear. If she doesn’t give her Lazaro’s money, a million dollars, in CASH, she’ll tell Saul’s family how she destroyed Lazaro and abandoned her own daughter. We’ll see which side Saul takes—the side of his family, or the side of a bad mother like her. Regina tells AG to just give her the money already. Yesenia arranges for them to meet at the construction site, and says she’ll have her contact in the vecinidad watching, to make sure AG doesn’t try anything tricky. AG promises Regina that she won’t do anything to Yesenia and that Saul has changed her.
The next day, Yesenia tries to convince Laz not to leave. Meanwhile, Monica tells Margarita and the other neighbors that they’re leaving. They’re all sad, and offer their support, money and friendship to convince her to stay. Saul overhears and is shocked Monica is leaving. He tries to convince her to stay, and they reminisce about their good times together, the times he saved her life, etc. He has her come up to his apartment, where he gives her a gift—a guitar to replace the one that was stolen from her. She’s genuinely touched and they reminisce about the time she sang for him at the airport. He says it was SHE who saved him that day, and he regrets the misunderstanding he caused her. She hugs him, and he seems moved. He tells her to keep fighting for her dreams and that he’ll always be there for her.
Braulio is cold to Valeria; meanwhile Lopecito’s wife is hot, hot, hot for him, and he responds.
Braulio lies to AG that he tried his hardest to bribe Ximena to drop the case, but she couldn’t be bought. AG will deal with the Jaime problem later. Right now, she has to deal with Yesenia and meet her at the construction site. Brau offers to come with, but AG says she has to do this alone. Ximena lies to Jaime that AG is indeed still trying to steal his vecinidad from him so that she can continue her original construction project.
Felipe and the reporter come to see Yesenia at Lazaro’s place, but she isn’t there. They want to speak to her about Guillermo. Lazaro hustles them out before Monica arrives and sees them.
Felipe and the reporter are leaving, just as Jaime is rushing out to give AG a piece of his mind, after what Ximena just told him. Ximena tries to stop him. When he spots Felipe, he reads him for filth for having a beef with his son. But what he really wants to know is if what Felipe said during his first press conference, that AG tricked him into signing those papers as part of a plan to steal Jaime’s property, was true. Felipe confirms it. Jaime mentions Guillermo, and how he’s sure his confession before he disappeared was also just a plot by AG. Monica joins the group, just as Felipe warns that Saul is going to end up just like him. He and the reporter leave. Jaime calms down for a second, but when he hears two guys who work at the construction site say that AG ordered them all to leave, and is there alone, he marches off to confront her.
Karen comes to see Saul to talk about the connections they just found. She wants justice for her women of Veracruz, the victims of the Monkeys. She asks how Saul knows so much about them. There’s a surviving victim, right? Saul admits to breaking into Miguel’s house and finding his trophies—articles about the crimes he and the Monkeys committed. Monica comes to tell Saul that Jaime’s gone after AG. They all rush out.
Yesenia chats with Regina on the phone as she enters the construction site. Regina asks Yesenia to take care of Monica after she gets the cash and leaves. AG arrives and says this is their LAST meeting. After some back and forth verbal sparring, AG hands her a briefcase full of US dollars. Yesenia salivates. AG doubts Yesenia really has someone on the lookout, and she assures Yesenia that she doesn’t have any of her people there, not even Brau. Neither realize that Brau IS in fact there, lurking, and ready to do Yesenia in as soon as she descends the stairs. Ximena calls Brau to warn him that Jaime is on his way and could blow their story.
Brau grabs Jaime as he’s ascending the stairs, on the floor beneath where AG and Yesenia are closing their transaction. He covers Jaime’s mouth, so that no one can hear him, and an intense struggle between the two men ensues. They get close to the edge, Brau lets go of his grip on Jaime, Jaime loses his balance, and falls to his death, just as Saul, Monica and Karen run up to the site. Saul rushes to his father’s broken body and begins to weep. AG and Yesenia hear the screams and AG steps to the edge to see what’s happened. Both Brau and Yesenia step back into the shadows, and when everyone looks up, the only person they see standing there is AG.
-End of episode.
Sorry about the typos: Diego says, "SHE" (Lydia) makes him feel secure; Emiliano is to pretend that the photo he saw of him (Rafa) and his buddies doesn’t EXIST...
Now, on the episode...Well, this time AG isn't guilty, but it sure as hell looks like she is! I don't think that Saul will believe in her innocence-- the one time she should.
Wow, Vivi! Muchísimas gracias for this spectacular recap! It helped me put together a lot I missed when I watched the episode last night. As was the case on Monday, the Spanish captions were missing, and this time I really needed them. Or, rather, I did until I read your recap!
I don't understand why Yesenia chose that potentially perilous site for her meeting with AG. Though AG apparently wasn't going to harm Yesenia, it would have been very easy to do so, with no witnesses. Of course, now there are witnesses to Jaime's death, though what they think they've seen isn't what actually happened. I wonder what this is going to do to the relationship between AG and Braulio. Or will he manage to disappear from the site without anyone seeing him? And, of course, what will it do to the relationship between AG and Saúl?
Juanita: I'm NOT shocked that Daddy Aguirre fell from the perilous construction site considering that Braulio did the deed.
Now the bloodbath begins!
The Body Count:
1.) Daddy Sandoval
2.) Mama Sandoval
3.) Cesar
4.) Guillermo Contreras
5.) Miguel Preciado
6.) Homeless guy beaten to death by Braulio
7.) The Prostitute.
8.) Felipe's bodyguard.
9.) Colonel Cespedes' wife
10.) Mama Vasquez (Margarita's mother killed by Miguel)
11.) Daddy Aguirre
Many thanks, Jarifa, for another terrific recap. You've captured so much so clearly and concisely.
I wonder whether Salma knew she'd find the investigator's contact info in Gabriel's phone. I suspect she did, though who enters someone's entry as "the investigator"? I'm not sure what Salma intends to do. Does she want to influence the outcome of the DNA findings (if so, in which direction?), or does she have some other investigation in mind?
I was amused when Carlos calls out to the three women fleeing from the boat and calls them "locas," and they think he knows that they're "Lucas' Locas."
I was afraid Lucas would decide against taking Felicitas up on her offer of employment, but now that she has given him a generous advance, I'm looking forward to some scenes of his modelling (or whatever) for her!
That was pretty funny with Vale's crew thinking Carlos knows they are " Lucas' Lucas". I also am looking forward to whatever shennanigans Diego gets into with Felicitas . . .
LXV: I wasn't surprised that Ximena served up Daddy Aguirre to Braulio like that.
Remember how Lucio served up Ambar to Daddy Michel on "Yago" ?
This will be quick because I've got a boatload of stuff to do...
Loved it when ----
- Lucas said to Salma, in Salma-speak, "a Lucas no le gusta tus escenas!"
- Salma belly-flopped (or was that her version of a swan dive?) on to Lucas on the bed.
- Because I usually notice the art in telenovelas...... Did anyone else notice the (background) artwork on the wall for convo scenes with Adriana/Carlos and the maid/Carlos. There is a large piece of brown monochromatic "art" that looks like multiple images of female anatomy.
Scene where Jessica is eating dry cereal out of a box. That box looks a LOT like a Publix store brand products' logo and overall appearance. (I buy a fair amount of Publix store brand stuff....) Publix is not in California. I wonder if they are filming this in Miami?
Jessica's hair is six to eight inches longer only in the cafe scene with Miriam (working on her laptop), Diego, and Elo. I rewound to compare all other scenes. Yep, it's def. longer in that scene only.
Thanks for the recap, Jarifa!
Hah, I knew there was something between Eloisa and Carlos! I still think he's Miguel's real father.
I can't figure out if Carlos is a bad person or not. He seems like a good father to Adriana, but he acts really suspicious with everyone else.
I assumed that Salma was going to pay off the PI to tell Gabriel that Tomas is definitely his kid (even if he's not).
I've also noticed that Jessica's hair changes everyday, to different colors and lengths. She must have a variety of extensions to work with.
doris, they film in Miami. Only a few outdoor scenes were filmed in LA.
thanks so much Vivi for a most wonderful recap!
this story takes on a different look when considering that AG is riding a high from torturing the Colonel.
and it looks like the black bird has returned, although the Colonel called it a bat.
Yesenia, always working the room, slides off into the darkness with the cash, but has yet to be in the clear, so who thinks she will give all the money to Laz and they will fly off to Paris to live happily ever after?
I'm really loving the production of this show, 1st class, although the usual scenes are cut up, they flow from one to the next, and always a good cliff hanger to end it for the day.
Deb: I don't see Yesenia & Lazaro having a happy ever after because you know something bad will happen to them.
The murder of Daddy Aguirre will be the catalyst with major ramifications for everyone down the road.
1.) Saul will be PISSED off when he finds out Ximena served his father up to Braulio.
2.) AG will obviously be blamed for Daddy Aguirre's death & everyone in the hood (including Monica) will hate her for it.
3.) The Colonel's days are numbered!
I too wonder what Yesenia is going to do with the money (if she makes it past Braulio as she exits the building). Will she give all/any of it to Lazaro? And how would HE explain the money to Monica?
Oops, I just realized that in my post above about La Fan (Friday at 1:09pm), I wrote that I was afraid Lucas would take Felicitas up on her offer of employment, but of course I meant Diego, not Lucas.
GoblueFan- No, Yesenia isn't just interested in the money. Money is definitely her first love. But she also cared deeply for Guillermo and wants to see AG go down for his death. And she's developed deep feelings for Monica, who she wants to keep safe from AG. I also think she feels pity for Lazaro. All of these emotions, plus her love for money, make her a very complex character, and makes it a mystery as to what she'll do next. My vote is take a chunk of the money (half maybe) for herself, and give the rest to Lazaro, never telling him what the total was.
doris, I wish I had your power of observation of details. I am going to have to start to pay closer attention. :)
J, thanks for the info on filming. It was something I was unaware of.
LADONA #43 Thursday, January 26, 2017
I was watching a little of Wednesday I thought,
XIMENA, YOU ARE SUFFERING,
THE MILLION DOLLER RUN IS ON
REGINA, YOU SHOULD take the money for the meeting.
Then I read Thursday and I am shocked and surprise!!DAMN, DAMN!! Daddy Jamie is dead!!
Steve: the body count is crazy!!
AG will be alright! Let see how her JUJU /GRIS-GRIS is working!! Plus good OLD- CASH YANKEE DOLLARS.
Yessenia please hold on to the cash,
It’s a ‘pause for the cause’… if Dona goes up for murder, she has an alibi!!
J - thanks for the info on the Miami location. Jessica was holding that box in a perfect product placement manner, too.
LXV: We'll find out tonight too & if the producers put a twist in this, I'll correct the Body Count.
LXV, I had a similar thought, but I decided no, no one could survive a fall of that sort. However, you're right: this is a telenovela. All bets are off, at least for two more hours. :-)
Just the facts:
Carlos recognizes Vale and she him. She explains she was just trying to defend and rescue Jessica. Jessica appears and calls him a murderer. Carlos defends himself. Vale sets Jessica straight. At the restaurant, Lucas and Gabriel discuss how pathetic Carlos is with his pick-up techniques. Vale spoils lunch for Lucas by going on and on about Tomás and how important he is to her and is going to have to be to him. Lucas gets so nervous he excuses himself from the table. He is starting to itch all over from all of the stress of being the fan's novio. He was not cut out to be a father. Jessica tells Vale she needs to take it slower withLucas. Gabriel later tells her it is better not to be so honest with Lucas. Too much too soon is not a good idea especially since he is afraid of being a father.
Diego is in his shorts undergoing "inspection" at the studio when his cell phone rings. It is Adriana asking if he has money problems. While telling her they will talk later, Diego is circled by Felicitas like a shark with her prey. She later tells him that for the actual painting session he will need to remove, ALL of his clothing. She also grabs him a couple of times.
Eloísa asks Miriam to research a "Carlos López"(former love) on line for her. She gets some results but none pan out except for one without a photo. Eloísa wants to make contact. She'd like to see him one more time. A "Carlos López" answers her email and wants to see her tonight.
Salma meets with the private detective and offers him double his fee to find out the DNA paternity results first before Gabriel. Will he take her offer?
Diego brings Eloísa a check to cover her payment. He lies and says it is a loan from Adriana. Miriam has her doubts.
Carlos meets with Adriana and he tells her about Lucas and his horrible novia. She reminds him that we always don't fall in love with the "right" person. He hopes she will fall in love with the "right" person.
At home, Felicitas is going through some old papers and finds an old love letter from Eloísa Romero to Carlos. In the letter there is some mention of "it"(a baby) having his face and she always being able to have a part of him near her. Carlos comes in and they have a champagne toast and discuss their marriage of infidelities. He admits he loved her a little bit a long time ago. She asks if that was before Eloísa. He is not talking.
On the set, Salma kisses Lucas extra long just to annoy Vale.
Óscar shows up again to see Adriana. Benicio offers to take care of the situation and kisses her in plain view of Óscar AND Diego. He claims to be the new love she was talking about. Later Adriana tells Diego that she and Benicio are not novios. They decide to break their tie in their sports challenges with one more competition. This time they are bowling. Adriana has all the equipment since she has bowling since she was five. Benicio stalks them and takes a photo of both of them on the floor-- looking like they are in a compromising condition because Adriana fell--that he sends to Carlos. Carlos is not pleased.
Gabriel brings Lucas good news" Pink Lips" (the number 1) magazine has finally asked Lucas for an interview and photo shoot tonight at Lucas' house. They are offering the (much coveted) front page and middle section.) The big surprise: they are more interested in Vale "La fan" than in him. Without her, there is no interview.
Everyone is at Lucas' house including Salma. When the reps from "Pink Lips" arrive and Vale is not there they make it clear again that the star of the article is "La fan". Vale and the interview are a great success but in a miscue at the interview, everyone thinks that Vale and Lucas are getting married in five days.
Later, Salma calls an aissistant (does he have a name?) to come over. When he gets there, she is draped over the couch supposedly unconscious with an empty bottle of pills next to her.
Thanks Jarifa! Another entertaining episode, though I could have done without Felicitas sexually harassing poor Diego. So I suppose that Carlos doesn't know about the letter (or the baby)?
I was also wondering about what Lucas said, SpanProf. He did say "I can't have kids" but I didn't know if that could also be interpreted more as "kids would ruin my life" like in English.
The big question is how will Daddy Aguirre's death result in several major ramifications for everyone down the road!
Jennie, I also took it has his reluctance to take on the demands of being a parent. Only time will tell . . .
thanks so much Jarifa for the time you put in keeping us up to date.
the guy that flutters around Salma I think is the bad guy in the novela they are filming, Agustín Peterlini.
this novela is also currently being recapped here,
http://5ftlatina.com/cohete
Many thanks, Jarifa, for yet another splendid recap. I just got done watching the episode on Telemundo's web site, and you did a terrific job of capturing what happened.
Thanks, guys for your kind comments! I haven't enjoyed a novela as much as this one for quite some time and am just lucky to have had some extra time lately. : )
I'm enjoying this tn too. It's fun weekend watching for me. I'm not caught up, but wanted to thank the recappers.
LA DONA:
I felt like it was insensitive of AG to try to make Saul pick sides basically, as he was mourning over the still warm body of his dead dad, and trying to console his devastated mom. Give the man some time. And then she was so smug to Karen about blatantly using her power and influence to get out of even the basic legal proceedings. If she wanted to prove to Saul that she didn't kill his dad, she should have gone to the police immediately and made her official statement about what she saw, and THEN gone home. But the way she and her people went about things, just makes her look more shady and guilty in everyone's eyes. And of course, Brau is encouraging her to say she did it out of self defence or some such, to both throw any suspicion off himself and to make sure a permanent break happens between AG and Saul.
Brau is certainly not going to give himself away. Ximena is definitely not going to admit that her lie propelled Jaime to go confront AG, and that she called Brau and gave him a heads up that Jaime was on his way. I hope the guilt eats her up. I can't stand her at all. And of course, Yesenia wants to stick it to AG anyway, and is denying that she was with AG, calling her a liar.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE MONICA. The girl is using her head, even in the heat of the moment , she didnt jump in to any conclusion. But then again, the irony of her clear thinking is that it comes from her cluelessness of how evil AG actually is.
LOL. Karma is def a bitch in this TN cuz now AG has to rely on Yesenia clear herself off this mess. Good luck with that.
Also, it was really hard for me to swallow this in-love-AG who is drooling over Saul. I dont know if it's because Saul is a moron or I am just not used to AG being nice and sincere. That scene with Isabella and Regina at her house dinner with Saul almost repulse me as much as the Laz and Ysenia scenes did. URGH.
Jarifa - Thank you for the recap!
Lucas' itching was funny; twice in one episode, too!
Are Miguel and Diego Eloisa's sons? Where does Jessica figure in? I've not got that all sorted out, as to who is family in that cafe and who is not. We probably need to start a chart, or something, just to keep up with all this.
Crockpot Theory™ time, because we've got, what, 111 episodes left to go? So . . .
IF Diego is really Carlos' son by Eloisa, and if he is (by telenovela rules and tropes) destined to end up with Adriana, then Adri cannot be Carlos' daughter, which means Felicita has some 'splainin' to do.
I wonder if the suspicions behind the death of Jaime mean that Saul and AG will now break up? Thus, freeing Saul to get together with Monica (I think Ximena is still out of the picture).
steve, Ximena had nothing to do with that clash of the titans, every thing was on the cool until psycho had to follow AG funky trail to the construction site, everything was on cruise, until he just had to put his wolf snout in her business , I think he has been stalking AG and she didn't even know it!!
