Vino el Amor #61; Wednesday January 25, 2017: Time for Heart Mending and Truths

Repeated scene: Gutierrez comes over to the employees house to talk to Marta, but Marta is livid and does not want anything to do with him. She says to “get the hell out of my home!” León arrives with Miguel and León is like, “let me at him!” and tries to go after Gut but Miguel holds him back. Gutierrez finally leaves and Marta, Luciana, and León huddle together trying to comfort Marta. Luciana tells Miguel she needs to go talk to David. Mig says, “Why don’t I go talk to him and you can stay here with your mom?” But Luciana explains that since this really is about her work visa, she needs to go and explain what happened, since she angrily threw the visa paperwork back over at Gutierrez when she was so angry. Luciana goes out the door and Miguel brings something to eat for Marta to try to cheer her up.

DisGracie and Lilian are in the back patio, cackling and tipping white wine glasses and drinking to Lil’s successes. DisGracies says something about the race being won and Lil coming out ahead. Brian walks in and says, “Are you happy now?” But Lil says she doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He says he will do everything in his power to get Marta back. (Dream on!)

Lil gloats and says she is celebrating and rubs it in his nose how he destroyed Marta’s family. She reminds him how he loved deporting all those immigrants. She reminds him that Marta didn’t get to say goodbye to her husband before he died.  Blah, blah, blah, and now Lilian says she will take Gut back. Huh? Lil claims she’s the best thing that ever happened to him. (Huh?) And she will help him again if he behaves.

Poor Marta is just depressed. Luciana says her mom needs to rest up and shouldn’t work these next few days. Ramón comes to comfort her and be her friend. She says that right now she wouldn’t make very good company. But Ramón insists, says he knows how she is feeling because he remembers what it was like when his ex wife left him for another man long ago. He then helps her sit down, pulling out the chair for her like a true gentleman and gets ready to serve Marta some tea.

Marta remarks to Ramón that it would sure be nice if love was more like the movies, beautiful, with passion, with ups and downs, but sincere! Ramón says sure, but that’s the way life is. We are not so old that we still don’t go through troubles like that.  Marta said with a slight laugh, “And here I am crying because my boyfriend turned out to be bad.” Ramón tells Marta there was no way for her to know that.  She says, she is getting to old for this stuff now and is going to stay single.  Ramón sincerely and lovingly tells her that the right opportunities will come along and that one must recognize them when they appear. Then he lovingly takes her hands and reminds her that he will always be there to support her and her children. Marta appears grateful. (At this point, I’m falling in love with Ramón).

León goes to Ingrid to tell her that something went horribly wrong. Ingrid is worried that she has to leave. He tells her no, things are okay for now, but now he won’t be able to go to the police lieutenant for help anymore. León explains that they just found out that he was the one responsible for deporting his father and sister all those years ago.  Ingrid says she feels badly for him and says that he should go back to his mother for now, she will decide what to do in the morning, but she does want to still tell the police her story.

Luciana goes to David’s office and he gets up to ask her about getting her work visa from Gutierrez. She says yes, she had it but she forgot it and left it there. David says, “Why, have you changed your mind about working here?” Luciana begins to lose it and starts to cry and explain that Gutierrez is the same man who was responsible for deporting her and her dad all those years ago. David is shocked and asks her if she is completely sure that he is the same one. She continues crying to him and David practically flies into a rage about it, making reference to his running for Sheriff and pretending he is a good man who only cares about the people and helping the immigrants. David is not going to allow things to stand as they are. He shares that Marta has always been part of the family and that he’s angry that this ever happened. Then Luciana mentions that Lilian had something to do with it. David says, “What? How is it that Lilian is involved?” Luciana cries, “I don’t know very well, I’m exhausted, but I know she had something to do with this mess. I’m tired that my family can’t get any peace about this.” David explains that she is the one who opened his eyes to happiness for his children and for her. He can never thank her enough for all that she did for him. He draws her in to kiss her, but Luciana pulls away, saying that it’s getting late and she needs to check on her mother. David says that in the morning he will go and see how Marta is doing.

The next day, Marta is outside sweeping the sidewalks. Luciana walks up, takes the broom from Marta’s hands, and says, “Mom, what are you doing? You should be in the house resting, not out here working. I went to see the boss last night and I explained to him what happened and that witch had something to do with our deportation.”  Marta says not to get involved with the problems and she doesn’t want to discuss with the boss either. She knows that the passage of time will make her feel better. She doesn’t want all this to affect the children either. Luciana finally changes the subject and asks if Marta has seen Susan. But Marta hasn’t seen her. Luciana is worried because Susan has not shown up for work and is not answering her phone either. Luciana says not to worry, takes the broom and tells Marta she needs to rest. Luciana tells Marta that no matter what, she can always count on hers and León’s help. Marta hugs Luciana and cries.

Meanwhile David is in his office sounding off to Juan about how Marta is a very important person to their family. He is very worried for her. Suddenly, the detective investigating the wine sabotage walks in.
“Any news, Detective?” Detective replies, “We are fairly certain that your wine was sabotaged and contaminated by succinic acid. It was done by someone who knew a lot about the chemical and what it does.” David asks, “Well, then how do we catch this character?” Detective says, “We are investigating purchases orders of this chemical from various places with the purchaser and where it would have been delivered.” Juan is starting to look worried at this point. Detective goes on to explain that they are also investigating who would have had the means and motive to do this.

David runs into Marta outside and tells her that if she needs any time off, he is glad to give it to her. Marta is appreciative but says it is not necessary and that the children need her. Marta says those are the things of life. David tells her that with whatever she needs, he’s there for her and he will have Sonia help her.

Luciana finally gets a text from Susan, she says not to tell anyone where she is. She tells Luciana that she is at a café next to the candy store, then goes to meet Susan over there. Before she leaves, she runs into Tano and he is very worried about Susan and wants information. He’s going into a tizzy about Susan not being there and Luciana warns him to not jump to conclusions and his not thinking before he acts got him into trouble before. Luciana leaves for the café and finds an injured Susan looking like she just got beat up.  Luciana comforts her and gives her a lot of good advice. She tells Susan she needs a restraining order against Mark. It seems that Susan is very frightened of Mark and finally escaped after he started drinking and went to sleep.

Susan only wants Mark out of her life. But she is afraid of going to the police because she is afraid that things will get worse. Lu tells her that Mark belongs in jail, but Susan says she is afraid he will get out of jail and then Mark will come after her all the worse. Lu tells her that men like Mark don’t change and Susan needs to go to the police and press charges. Susan thanks Luciana and calls her more than a sister.

In the Cava, Ingrid is ready to go with Miguel to the police. She tells them that since coming to the USA, they were the best thing that happened to her. She does not mind being deported.  But she goes to the police and comes back with good news. They are not going to deport her because of the information she has for them. León gives her a hug and tells her he’s glad.  The police are going to help her and let her stay as a refugee. Miguel says for her to get her papers so she can get a job in the vineyard. But Ingrid is not so sure that is what she wants to do. She misses her family and is afraid that those who captured her in the human trafficking ring would be back to get her.

Lilian approaches Marta with her claws extended to mock at Marta. Lil says she is happy to see Marta suffer. It made her very happy to see her hurt by Gutierrez and she enjoyed seeing how hurt Marta became. They really get into it, throw around a lot of insults. Marta says that Fernando was going to divorce Lil for her etc…but Lil says that on his deathbed, Fernando made a confession and apologized for sleeping with Marta. Lilian continues hurling insults at Marta, calling her broken and destroyed and promises to make her suffer even more than she is now. Marta tells her that Brian will be waiting the rest of his life for Marta’s forgiveness. Lil says not to be so sure….that right after leaving her house, Brian came straight over to Lil.  Marta says, “So what? He’s just equally as bad and a liar as you are.” Lil throws around insults at Marta regarding her dead husband Marcos and continues to insult her, grabs at Marta and Marta orders her to let go. (I was convinced that Lilian was going to start pulling Marta’s hair and a full-fledged cat fight would ensue.) This argument went on entirely too long with Lil accusing Marta of not knowing right from wrong or true from false. Marta demands to know how long Lil knew that it was Gutierrez who deported her family. Lil pretty much ends it by saying not to mess with her, because she will make sure to it that Marta suffers even more.

David shows up at Gut’s office to withdraw his support from Gut’s campaign. David doesn’t want an explanation as he knows what Gutierrez did to Luciana and their family. He will make sure that no one votes for Gut. Calls him a liar and a hypocrite. David will not change his mind about Gutierrez.

Gutierrez’s assistant brings him the news about Ingrid giving them information about the trafficking ring. They concoct a plan to use Ingrid to “prove” how much he helps immigrants. Now he’s planning a public relations thing and press conference to convince the county’s voters that he is not a racist and that he should be sheriff.

Outside DisGracie is painting and David asks her how it all went in San Francisco. She says it went very badly. She tells him she’s lost her inspiration and doesn’t feel motivated. David says he wants to help her and that he will be right back. He comes back with a large photo album of when they were all young university students. He wants Grace to remember how things were when they were that age and to remember her hopes and dreams and how close she really is to them. They begin to pour over the photographs and laugh about all the good times. She sees a picture of Lisa and mentions that Lisa always said that David was the love of her life. David stops and says, “And she was mine as well.”

Back at the office, Tano and Cesar are wondering what happened to Susan. Cesar finally gets call from Susan and Tano gets text from Luciana so they both run out to the café to go find her.

Cesar and Tano arrive and Cesar says he is going to go bring the lawyer.

Then grungy, half crazed Mark shows up and wants to beat up on Susan again. Luciana stands up to him and Tano stands by with Susan holding him back. Mark tries to manhandle Susan and they all yell for someone to call the police. With the crowd watching outside Mark hurls insults at Tano and tells him that Susan is just using him.

Excellent screen shots Cynthia. The recap was terrific as always. You consistently paint a very vivid picture and did so once again.

Let's start with Brian. "He says he will do everything in his power to get Marta back. (Dream on!)". Agree. That ship has sailed. However, he was not devastated to the point that he failed to take advantage of the potential positive press Ingrid's situation presented. His campaign for sheriff may also be a dead issue, but he is hoping it can be resuscitated. We shall see.

I am also falling under Ramon's spell. His warm and caringg comfort was the highlight of the night. "Ramón sincerely and lovingly tells her that the right opportunities will come along and that one must recognize them when they appear. Then he lovingly takes her hands.." Well stated.

"Mig says, “Why don’t I go talk to him and you can stay here with your mom?” It isn't right or fair, but just about everything Miguel says around Luciana is somewhat annoying. Why on earth would HE offer to speak to David?? Clearly that was up to Luciana. I hope he gets together with Ericka quickly. He isn't fawning and fussing over her and I think they would be loving equals. There is a couple I could root for.

"Lilian says she will take Gut back. Huh?". Yes, I didn't get that either Cynthia. He left without saying anything but I strongly suspect their time together is not yet finished.

I like Leon and Ingrid too.

This likely sounds terrible, but can Coyote take a bite out of Mark, and quickly?? The coyote needs to vanquish the wolf, and quickly.

No kiss between David and Luci. Yet again. Are the writers trying to see how long they can go before the "main" couple actually has another passionate embrace? Talk about tame. PG for certain, isn't it?

Thank you Cynthia.

Diana

Thank You Cynthia. I have said it forty times, and I will say it once more. Restraining Order, and Concealed Carry Susan. Don't live in fear and don't be Stooooopid.

Come on Ingrid, start your paperwork, and take a spot at Vineyard de Angeles, or what the fork it is called, it will be better than working for the Government, Nobody works. It is the best no-working work on the planet.
I wonder if the writers forgot that she recognized NoJuan and Hurl's voices the other night. That should be crucial in their investigation, as her statement should carry a lot of weight. She is clean, intelligent, well spoken. Not like she is some scabbie crack Hoe.

I must admit, little Luci is Hot, in her hip hugger aerosols, and her very cropped crop top, in an uncut diamond kind of way. And she does wear good shoes.

Lil and Marta? ZZzzz. A couple of mangy old alley cats fighting over a scrap. Who cares? One of you dispense with the other one and get it over with. All that howling and yowling is keeping me awake. No fur flying, just a lot of noise.

W T F with DimBulb and the one who wants to screw...in a dim bulb going through the college yearbook? Dim should have been laid three times right on the patio after all that happiness. Steroids?

Those NoJuan and MarkthePuncher anvils are just trembling with anticipation up there in their holding pattern. Look at the altitude ! Those anvils will surely be at terminal velocity when the re-enter the atmosphere. It will make Wiley Coyote's anvils look like a gentle reprimand.

And Ramon may be nice, but he has girl hands. For a minute I could not tell whose were whose.

Thank you Cynthia! Enjoyed the recap!

Right now, Lilian and Marta are just carrying this show! Enjoyed their scenes. They are perfect rivals.

Diana, I was thinking last night that by this point in Camino, even innocent Fer had done the deed with Carlos. Of course in real life, I would never put Luciana with David, age-appropriateness, inappropriate workplace relationship and all. I laughed when she went to him with her visa troubles last night and he took the first opportunity to pull her in close for a kiss that made no sense given the conversation and how upset she was.

All that said, I hope David can retrieve the visa and be there for Marta, his loyal employee who actually does do work as opposed to most of them.

Ramon is nice, and I'm glad he was there for Marta as a friend. But there's no heat, there, for her.

I am so done with grungy Mark and the ridiculous triangle with Susan and Tano. Poor Susan, she did not deserve to be beaten up, but I'm honestly bored with Susan and her men.

Thank you so much Cynthia.

“And here I am crying because my boyfriend turned out to be bad.”

So, Marta cheated on Marcos to be with Fernando and he promised to divorce Lilian to be with Marta. Kinda see why Lilian would be a little peeved even with his deathbed apology. These old girls have been fighting over the same men for 20 years.

Ramón should steer clear of Marta, she's no princess.

Right out of law school I worked in the DA's office of a major city and prosecuting domestic violence against women both just and heartbreaking, knowing even a win often wasn't the end.

According to Cesar the other day, David may have feels for both Luciana and Graciela and I thought, when he wanted to speak to Luciana, he was gonna make a move. He did and Luciana rejected him again so I don't blame him for being sweet to his back up, Graciela.

I worry, if Brian parades Ingrid in front of the press, it puts her in even more danger.

Let's be honest here, ole Cesar lost a helluva lot more blood than poor poor beaten up Soo--San did. I have seen worse injuries in a flag football game. Please. ANY violence is wrong, but she did not exactly need medical help.

We are to believe that little pipsqueak Leon knocked Rocky down in the kitchen with a lucky punch and nobody is crying about that.

The only things which are still left which do not beg sanity are the Immigrants, Mark, NoJuan and Hurla, with a side dish of Ingrid. Sonia and Lion Cub were fun, but Sonia's contract must have ended an episode or two ago, as abruptly as that interesting little side road dead ended.

If Brian parades Ingrid in front of the press, hopefully it will land the people who would harm her in jail before she can be in danger. Like Susan afraid that Mark would spend years in jail and still come back to get her. Lord help me.

BTW: David needs to tag one of them before he explodes. Just sayin....

Ahhh, Camino. Thanks for that happy memory dy. There was a love story that had heart and certainly captured our attention.

I am old school and to be honest, need to have someone to root for. I watch TN's primarily to watch love unfold, be thwarted and then finally bloom. It's pretty sad that right now, I am dividing my time between Miguel and Erika's table and Leon and Ingrid. Now the fact neither of these couples have engaged in any romantic behavior (aside from that tantalizing kiss from Erika), is fairly sad. David and Luci's "non-romance" now leaves me cold (it was tepid at best).

tofie, God bless you for all the wonderful work you have done. You must be quite a woman to have endured all that and kept going. Thank heavens women like you exist.

I am sure once Perla gets a full on look at Ingrid, she will immediately recognize her as the missing girl. She will tell Juan who will undoubtedly go to hot headed psycho Mark. This does not bode well at all.

Diana

Gracias, Cynthia. You didn't miss a move.

We still don't have perfect clarity on the Marta/Fernando relationship, but this latest one is pointing to the possibility that one of Marta's kids wasn't planted by Marcos. The photo I remember of Fernando showed he was a similar physical type to Marcos, so it could be either of Marta's children, depending on the timing. I've always thought that Leon doesn't look like he came from that family, but writers have done stranger things than that in recent years.

It occurred to me this morning that Brian's ultimate redemption might end up being a heroic death while saving someone else's life, but it's too early to be calling that.

If Ingrid is exposed in the media someone would get highly suspicious if anything were to happen to her.

David did not leave Brian's office with Luciana's visa, so that means that Brian will have to face somebody from that estate soon enough.

Tonight there will be bullet points. Sonia has stepped down as a recapper due to academic obligations. Thursdays are open for a replacement.

I'm actually tempted to step in and do recaps for this thing. God help me...

Nice recap, Cynthia. But not a word about Lilian's Fred Flintstone skirt, though? As much as Azela Robinson and Cynthia Klitbo were rocking Lilian vs. Marta Round XLII, I was utterly distracted by that fashion disaster she was wearing.

Susan's story annoyed me because it was all tell versus show. (Budget constraints, perhaps, since we have yet to see Susan's house?) We couldn't see her trying to move out, or even her getting the call from Cesar about the emergency he had to deal with--let alone Mark intercepting her. Boo, show.

As for Marta officially having cheated on Marcos: my money's on Luciana being the product of that. UA's right in that Leon's the one who doesn't look like the rest of los Munoz, but it just feels weird that they'd go there with him. He's got more going on (Ingrid, and by extension being El Coyote/Juan/Mark-adjacent; Sonia) and if memory serves it's a far more ironclad cliché for a novela heroine to go through a period where she hates her mother or father for a big past misdeed. (And when it comes out, it'll piss Lilian off more if it's Luciana.)

Bill, if you want to try this, fill in the blanks for tonight's episode since I will do a "Just the facts, Ma'am" kind of a post. If you still want to recap after that, e-mail Jane for posting access.

It is definitely a more established cliche for a heroine to discover hidden parentage and it certainly would bother Lillian more if Luciana were Fernando's child. I'm actually wondering whether Lillian was able to have any more after Graciela and -- horror of horrors -- whether there was an issue over this because Fernando wanted a son.

It's also more commonplace for mothers and daughters to have relationship difficulties than for fathers and sons. We've seen that in many past series both with good and evil characters.

Ha ! These little pussys will be meowing when they find out they are from the same litter.

It will take more than a warm bowl of milk to restore domestic tranquillity

UA: I noticed that someone was watching Ingrid, Leon & Miguel at the US Homeland Security office. This doesn't look good.

Bill C: Luciana noticed the bruise on Susan's face wasn't that surprising since OJ Mark has been beating on Susan.

Kirby: Irina Baeva's English sounded pretty darn good.

Diana: I've been saying that Ingrid will be in danger since someone (likely Perla) was watching Ingrid, Leon & Miguel, which is a bad sign.

You might as well add Ingrid to the Body Count.

Thank you, CYnthia.

Well, there are guys like JUan and Mark who use and abuse and good guys like Miguel and Ramon who try to pick up the pieces and help people to deal and heal. I read somewhere that when girls are dating, they should notice how a guy treats his mother because that is probably the way he will treat a wife.

I think that MIguel's feelings for Luci are changing slowly. Erika is much more demonstrative towards him , and he must be realizing how differently she treats him than Luci.

Wow, Gut must have mad skills if Lilian wants him back. She is having a best day ever gloating over his split from Marta.

Diana, I agree that this is an odd telenovela . Where is the romance between the main couple?

Thanks, Cynthia!

Lilian, Lilian. "She will help him again if he behaves." How can she help him? More phone calls? "Hi, friend I called last week. Remember how I said you should support this guy's campaign, and then I said he was a liar and I was very disappointed? Well now we like him again. Tell your friends, 'kay?" When she told Brian she'd take him back, he looked like he would throw up. I think he's done with her.

Ramon is awesome, but I don't know if Marta deserves him. And Sonia's too wacky for him. We need to find a nice lady for him.

When Lilian said that her husband had apologized on his deathbed for sleeping with Marta, I thought I saw a funny look on Marta's face. Like she knew it was a lie. One way it could have been a lie is if she never actually slept with Lil's husband. Though I am actually leaning more towards him being Luci's father.

I think Brian's plan to use Ingrid to enhance his public image will put a bullseye on her chest.

Diana...Is Camino the one with my sweet baboo as the galan? If so, I did not stay with it for some reason.

Steve, It still isn't as impressive as her behind.

Kirby, I have to agree about sweet Ramon's hands. They do not look like the hands of a man who works outdoors in a vineyard . However,be is a good man ,so let's overlook the soft hands.

Steve, in all seriousness, we must assume that Irina speaks Russian as her native language, so she also speaks Spanish and English. Makes you wonder how many languages she actually does speak. I'm impressed, we are graduating high schoolers these days who do not even really have enough English to fill out a job application. IE: The capital letter U is actually not a personal pronoun.

Sue: Yeah Ram is a good guy, he just needs to get off this Marta thing, she is no prize. Maybe, just maybe he should entertain a non-coworker fling and see how that works out. Get him a Match.com account and some nice gloves, and he would be busy. :-)

Kirby...Yes..That. I used to tutor freshman writing students at the college. They graduated from high school , but they still did not have good reading and writing skills. Sad.

Ramon always looks sad. That can be a deal killer no matter how sweet a guy is. Smile, Ramon. He sure seems to be smitten with Marta as was But and perhaps Fernando!

OT: Sue our kids are now beginning to believe that the texting shorthand is acceptable as regular English, I'd love to read a Service Manual for a Radar or Ordinance delivery pod written by one of them.

I have tutored many of my neighbors kids, but thankfully they were all smarties and needed help in Chemistry or Calculus or Geometry and I was never exposed first hand to what I am chuckling about. But I'm not an educator.

Foreign language is so poorly taught in US schools. It should start earlier than 7th grade and the method needs radical changes.

It is also now no longer emphasized in the public schools and very few people really understand its importance. I have one friend who doesn't think it's necessary because of Google Translate and I've met others who think that the entire planet will be speaking English within whatever time elapses between that conversation and any inclination they might have to travel.

They have no idea what they're missing out on.

UA ditto

My grandkids have a hard time reading cursive writing, since they print everything at school and cursive writing is not taught. I shudder to think what the next generation of adults will be doing when they encounter handwritten, cursive letters and documents (like our Declaration of Independence)!

I also think about that. The daughter of one of my friends is a junior high English teacher and she says that her pupils can't read cursive. They also have no sense of grammar. I wonder how long she will continue teaching.

When I was in third grade I had a copy of the Declaration printed on an inexpensive parchment and thought it was incredibly beautiful. It was even said at the time that Jefferson's penmanship was the primary reason he was assigned to write it. Not sure I quite believe that because he was an eloquent man. He was also ambassador to France for a while.

That there are actors who can act in multiple languages should be a lesson about what learning foreign languages can do for a person. Yet people like me are eyed askance when we can read menus without subtitles.

"eyed askance"

But anyone who lives with a black cat is flirting with disaster. :-)

Julie: Since Gutierrez is desperate to become County Sheriff, using Ingrid as a prop will boost his poll numbers.

Thanks, Cynthia. Great job. When I saw Susan in the shades, I thought "Nope, not watching this" and turned away. Now I'm sorry I missed Marta and Lilian getting into to it, so I'll go to Hulu.

I remember Marta and Ramon's first (and only) date where he took her to town shopping and she ditched him (hiding behind a tree or something) and she wound up going home with Gut. Put me at the Ramon-steer-clear-of-Marta table.

I thought Gut was on his way to redemption. But if he recklessly uses Ingrid, I'm done with him.

Will somebody please just go and pick up Luciana's work visa? Why didn't David get it while he was there bashing Gut to his face (and ignoring the fact that he the vineyard owner didn't have his long-time employee's papers straight)?

Obviously because the lack of its possession will cause issues for Luciana later. Who wants to bet that someone carelessly throws it away?

Bill, why don't you try recapping???

Your comments are quick and very funny and you obviously have a great grasp on what is going on.

I really hope you do...

Diana

Urban, I read somewhere that 75% of high school students worldwide are studying English. French used to be the international language, but now English is becoming the global language. I once tutored a Chinese man so that he could communicate with a German for business purposes. I tutored a Brazilian woman so that she could understand the English signs in airport when she and her husband traveled worldwide. Many linguists fear that some languages are going to completely disappear. More and more English words are creeping into other languages. The college that I teach at offers courses in Arabic and Chinese in addition to Spanish, German, and French. Those last two languages are becoming less popular choices.

As to cursive writing, I believe that our small rural school still teaching it. I always wondered how you could sign a document if you did not know how to write in cursive.

As to Lilian, how twisted and pathetic must you be to only feel joyful when hurting someone else. Sucks to be you, oh bitter one.

Sonia - Your recaps were fun and informative. All the best at school! Hope you'll return when school is out.

Kirby..
That is great that you tutor the neighborhood kids in math and science. American kids seem to be falling behind in these subjects. I had algebra , trig, geometry ,physics, and chemistry in high school and algebra, chem, physics, and biology in college, but they were never my favorite subjects. I preferred ENglish, literature, history, art, music. However, my older daughter always loved math and was au double major in college.. math and computer science . Most of the students in her computer science classes were male. She graduated as valedictorian and had lots of job offers. I was looking at a first grade math textbook recent!y, and math is being taught very differently in the last few years. Other countries seem to teach algebra and geometry at much younger ages , and it seems that we are trying that approach now.

Good recap, Cynthia. Thanks. Going back into lurkdom now.
Helen

Enjoyed the recap Cynthia. Your right about that insult convo Marta & lil had. It lasted to long and it wasn't
All that smacky. Or snarky, whatever.
I think it's great that Ramon wants to
Be there for marta, but he's gonna get hurt cuz she might wind up forgiving guT. But Cynthia you're fallin in love with him So he'll be Ok :).
Gut was really remorseful. I do hope he Is serious about helpin the imagrants, And not just using that to be Sheriff, And getting Marta back. Cuz I really want him to become the sberiff without lil's help.
I would really like to hear more about
Fernando. With marta They should do some flashbacks so we can see how hot
He may have been to have these two old divas fightin over him. I wish they'll
Give Marta a wardrobe change.

I like that Lucy is so stronge she could Probably take mark down. I'm sure Somebody will. Hot head tano will
Probably be the candidate. The boy just jumps without thinking. What does
SusyQ see in him, hes a child. She just wanted a snack like miss wendy said. But there comes a time when you
Need a full course meal(cesar),and lil baby boy Ain't it. But to each his or
Her own.
I'm glad Lucy figured out she should not have left her work visa in gut's office. And I didn't see David leave with it after he withdrew his campaign
Support, Did yall?
Lillian will get hers. People like her
Always do. All this will come back &
Bit her butt off.

Thanks Cynthia.

OT: Susan have you tried to decipher the "New math" they are introducing to the little kids in grades 2,3, and maybe four? It is like counting beans. I had to relearn simple counting to help the kid next door. I'll shut up now.

So since Luci's WORK Visa has been approved, is she planning on starting actually W O R K I N G now? Will she still get deported if she continues to lollygag and talk about boys? Even though she threw it on the floor and stomped, it is still valid, right? If they can look up my license plate and know whether I need corrective lenses to drive, cant they take a hair sample and know whether she has a Visa or not? Or Mastercard.

And when Lillian was talking to Brian Gut, I was hoping he could hock up a big green one and spit it right in her face.

If I woke up and realized I had slept with her, I would go home and cut something off.

So Mr. Robles (Why do I always want to call him Marbles) is withdrawing his campaign funding? Hold on, He has made a deal with the devil because he was sooooo broke, right? So where is all that money coming from? If he pitched him a couple hundreds that is one thing, but he made it sound like he was taking back the company car.

AAAAarrrrggghhh.

Thanks everyone for all your great comments. I am wondering though, if it is really true that Marta slept with Fernando and if Lilian is only saying that because her husband really didn’t love her because of her “winning” personality and her inability to truly be caring. Or at least I have never seen anything but selfishness from Lilian at all and perhaps Fernando was tired of Lil’s “me, me, me” attitude. She strikes me as quite narcissistic and incapable of truly loving someone that she cannot control. Perhaps Fernando felt comfortable with Marta’s warmth and her unselfishness in contrast to what Lilian always displays.

I still can’t believe that Marta would have cheated on Marcos. I just have the impression she was quite in love with Marcos. Or at least it appeared that way at the beginning of the series.

Well I am sure that Luciana will get hold of her work visa somehow. Maybe Gut will put it in the mail.

I really think the affair happened before Marcos came along... even if that means it somehow had to take place in Mexico.

Cynthia--I was super busy today and am just now getting to the recap and the comments. It was a good refresher course, served up with naughty asides.

Will read the comments after I leave these thoughts.
As for Gut--I hope he never reconciles with Marta--he deserves the hurt just as much for keeping two women on his leash. It was long after Lilian could no longer really blackmail him that he was still carrying on with Marta, to Lilian's disgust. She's the one that left him high and dry. Maybe she had second thoughts about "leaving" him realizing she left the door wide open for Marta.

Ruining his election campaign was her vengeance "served on a cold plate."

I don't think Gut is interested in Lilian AT ALL any more. I think Lilian was just boasting that he came to see HER after Marta refused to forgive him. For that matter, I don't think Lilian would be interested in him again either. He'll be a nobody lieutenant in a sergeant's uniform. I think she's decided money, travel, security and comfort are more important than sex. So, here comes Adolfo to fit the bill. Poor sod.

As to David--does anyone on the Patio blame him? He's been after Luciana for weeks (or is it months). Each time they get close enough to kiss, she backs away, still, telling him their love is impossible. He must be frustrated, poor sod. I wouldn't mind seeing him with Soooosan. Now there he could be quite a hero, protecting her from Mark and holding Cesar and Tano at bay. I'm sure she would appreciate his attention a lot more than Luci is. Luci needs to go away again, realize how much she cares for him and be the one who, on returning, makes the first move. I dread Luci's reaction when she sees David and Gracie spending any time canoodling over photos in an album. David was actually laughing and having a good time. Something he hasn't done with Luci, regardless of how many times he says she opened his eyes to life and love again.

This thing is just dragging on and on (the Luci-David thing). I'm willing to bet a virtual bottle of tequila chased by a bottle of Reserva, that it will still be at least 10 episodes before we get a kiss.

Ingrid is looking pretty good right now.

Haha, Cynthia--I read your last line and mis-read it as, "Maybe God will put it in the mail."

Diana and Bill--Ah, Camino. Sweet, sweet memories. Even though it had some stupidity in it, the two leads were "amazingly" believable.

Anita: Oh you made me laugh about your misreading the last line about "Maybe God will put it in the mail". Well it could be!! Someone's got to mail Luciana her visa!

Sorry, dy, it was you that brought Camino into the conversation. Thank you.

I concur on the issue of Lillian's interest in Brian. Not to mention that he won't want to get within 10 feet of her anymore with or without his clothes on. He's a hot dude and he can do so much better. He has certainly seen the difference between women like her and women like Marta and he's been enlightened.

Lillian is going for the money and The Good Life, but Adolfo also deserves better.

Cynthia: I am still not convinced that Marta is as pure as we are led to believe. There is something shifty about her eyes, I can't put my finger on it (and don't want to) but something is just not right.

A woman with no more looks than her and a job as a housekeeper or whatever she is, Nanny, BillyGoat, something, would JUMP at a nice healthy available man like Ramon.

Her affection for Leon and especially Luci seems strained too. I have thought for a while that she has more secrets than the CIA. Frump does not really warm me up to a girl, but I think there is something else too.

If Lillian now plans to set the hook in Adolfo, Erika should see Lillian for the vampire she is shortly. Erika is sharp.

And while I am blabbering on to an invisible audience, I would love to see wormy little MarkThePuncher swing on Miguel. Ole Miguel would knock him into a low earth orbit. He handled a rabid little Leon like a declawed housecat,

You never know...Adolfo could be a tiger in bed. You can't tell a book by its cover.

I did not see Lillian really affected by any "tigering". With the Gut man she looked about as enthused as she would loading the dishwasher.

Maybe not a male book, but a female one, I am rarely wrong. :-)

Yeah.. I agree that Lilian did not look as excited as I thought she would look when she was with Gut. Perhaps nothing excites Lilian except seeing someone else unhappy and suffering. P.s.I don't think that Lilian has ever loaded a dishwasher. She leaves that to the help..Sonia and Marta.
