SILVANA – JUEVES – Parte 1 de 2

We again see Manuel’s conversation with La Virgencita, asking her not to take Chivis away. He imagines she’s looking at him.

Cris and Chivis are on the golf course. Cris didn’t like Chivis giving her the business about being snobbish about the people she knew when she lived in the duplex. Cris tells her she needs to socialize a bit, now that she’s separated. Surely she only met nacos at the terminal.

Angie and Jorge are doing some shopping. She tells him AJ isn’t going to come around any more. Jorge tells her he doubts it, that she knows how her father likes to manipulate them. Angie agrees that her father is trying to manipulate Chivis where it hurts the most – with her children. Jorge jokes that he’ll probably get the highest score on the test in the whole state, and AJ will come on bended knees begging him to be Angie’s boyfriend.

We finally meet Margarita’s mother, Rocío. Margarita almost walks by her. When Rocío calls her by name, Margarita sits at one of the outside tables. She looks at her mother suspiciously. She asks why she abandoned her. Rocío says that it was because she was innocent. When a guy offered her a job on the other side of the country, she thought she’d have money and would come back to get her daughter. She thought she’d never get such an opportunity again.

Rocío says that he knows she was an idiot. She doesn’t expect Margarita to forgive her, just not to hate her. Margarita says she doesn’t hate her, and they embrace. Margarita tells Rocío that her grandfather is healthy and even has a girlfriend. Margarita tells Rocío that she wants to move to Los Angeles. She’s had a bad year, she needs a change, and she needs her mother. Rocío: “My beautiful girl, here’s your mamá!”

We get more Three Stooges at the old house. Dom is uncomfortable with all the kissy-face. Dom: “¡No tienen que contar dinero delante del pobre!” [You don’t have to count your money in front of a pauper.] [I’m noticing that Stella’s clothes are better since she’s reformed!]

Dom overhears Poncho arranging to sell his motorcycle. [I wonder if the bat helmet is included.]

Chivis is at the terminal when Manuel comes into the office. They start to exchange some stilted conversation about their children and the tests they’re taking. Manuel tells her that Stella and the Stooges [a decent name for a punk bank] are moving out of the duplex. He appears to be hinting there’s a vacancy.

Vicente cooks for Majo. We get treated to her list of dietary no-no’s. She tells him that what she loves best is Vicente recién salido del horno (fresh from the oven).

Lucha finds a ticket to México that her father left on her bed. She’s jumping up and down with joy.

SILVANA – JUEVES – Parte 2 de 2

Manuel says something about the maybe-baby to Chivis. She says she knows it turned out not to be true; that it would have been crazy. Manuel finally asks her what she’s doing. She replies that she’s packing her things. She’s come to resign her job there. Manuel says that she already told AJ she wanted to keep working, to be independent. Chivis says that she will be working, in a home decorator’s shop with some friends. Manuel tells her this isn’t right for her. She’s meant to be working with regular people. He saw how she decorated her house, and it was beautiful. The kind of clients she’ll have just want white walls and expensive paintings.

We find out why Poncho was selling his motorcycle. He’s bought tickets so he and Stella can fly to Las Vegas to get married. She’s over the moon. Poncho also has a ticket for Dom.

Chivis tells Manuel they are already separated, and it’s difficult. Manuel tells her she’ll miss the catcalls of the guys in the fish stalls, the taco truck, and the altar of the Virgen. Chivis starts to cry. She says she’ll miss it all, but she’ll have to get used to it. Manuel tells her that the people here may lack teeth, but not smiles. Here the people don’t discriminate. They give their co-workers nicknames of fish.

Chivis tells Manuel that she has to be away from him. He tells her that they don’t speak of love any more, but at least he can see her. He says he’ll die if he can’t see her. He starts to choke up and tells her that news passed by their children won’t be enough for him. She says that she can’t be close to him. She needs to be in a place she’s never been with him, a place without memories. He continues to plead, telling her some people never get to feel what they feel for each other their whole lives.

Majo IS eating dessert. She and Vicente are cute in this scene. Jorge and Angie come in. Vicente says they need to talk about their parents. He says they’re making a big sacrifice for them (the children). They all agree, except for Majo of course. She says that Chivis already left Manuel for their benefit. If their parents start to go out together openly, her father will disappear forever. [And this is a bad thing, exactly how?]

Chivis tells Manuel she has to find out who she really is. She says that, if she has a relationship with him, AJ will stay away from the girls. She can’t be at his side at that price. She goes back for one embrace, leaves for a chat with the Virgen and then drives off in the ChivisFish van.

The sensible young ‘uns are trying to convince Majo that people their parents’ age have a right to love when Lucha bounds downstairs: “I’m going to México!”

Don Benito is dressed up to go propose to Trini. He asks Juanito to come along to make some music. [Viewerville is spared Trini tonight.]

Majo has the gall to get snippy with Lucha about her going to México, knowing it’s to be with Andrés. Lucha looks at her. “You love Vicente and I am in love with Andrés. Yes, we’re novios. Does this bother you?” The episode closes on Majo’s sulky face.

La Dona

Yesenia really really wants to bring AG down at all cost when she confirms to Felipe that Monica is AGs daughter but omits that Monica is a result of rape and IS NOT Lazaro's daughter.

I enjoy reading your recaps and comments. Thank you.

Rose

Silvana

Thanks very much, novelera, for an excellent recap of a rather mediocre episode. Aside from Margarita's meeting her mother, it was mostly same old same old. Chivis' absurd treatment of Manuel almost reminds me that she's Trini's daughter. And Majo's angry look at the end of the episode must really make Vicente feel...what? Arrgh, what a sick family!

I enjoyed your "[And this is a bad thing, exactly how?]" and appreciated your including Dom's remark in Spanish. I recall coming upon that same expression in one of the episodes I recapped, quite possibly also said by Dom (or could it have been Manuel? I don't remember).

Only seven more episodes to go!!

SILVANA:

Thanks so much, novelera! That last scene just said so much about Majo. I don't understand how Vicente could keep that indulgent smile on his face the whole time, while they tried to explain to his girlfriend, like she was a 5-year-old, why their parents have a right to be happy and in-love. Then when she got an attitude about Lucha and Andres...ugh! Can the writers please drop her and Trini off on a deserted island and leave them there forever?

SILVANA

Thanks novelera for a great recap, I know chivis is the 'mother of the year' but I have 2 problems
1) when she asked Manuel to be her novio, didn't she know that AJ the scammer would eventually show up? She told Manuel she would separate from AJ blah blah blah then she backed out, I believe chivis shouldn't have let the relationship get deep before saying everything she said last night
2) I thought Maria Jose was trying to be logical, what was I thinking? Even pedrito seems more sensible than her

SILVANA

I took a couple weeks off over the holidays but watched again the other night. The story is so incredibly flimsy and ridiculous. If it wasn't for Carlos Poce, I wouldn't watch at all. He carries the whole thing, IMO.
AJ dumped his family in what was (to them) dire straits financially, broke the law, and treat d everyone so shabbily, yet for some unknown reason Chivis now let's him call the shots in their lives?! It doesn't make sense. Almost normal people would have divorced him asap, and moved on with their lives ves, ECSTATIC that they had met a sexy widower who was crazy about them and a very very good person. What exactly is she waiting for?!
I'm glad we have been spared Lupita recently. That baby voice, the accompanying tick tick nursery music etc just set my teeth on edge.
Don Benito is s lovely old man, and deserves so much better than being dumped by magically-reformed Margarita nd apparently marrying the snobby refried asshat that is Trini. Ugh poor guy :(

Silvana. Excellent witty and occasionally delightfully snarky recap, novelera! Nice catch about Stella's clothes, and cute observation about Poncho's bat helmet! I also liked your "Viewerville is spared Trini." Vivi: Great remark about the desert island! Jude: I think the source of most of the defects in the tn that you notice may be that the writers seem to have sloughed off for about the last third of Silvana. To me it's more evidence that this is a 60-80 episode novela that they padded out artificially to 120 or so. Does Chivis really want to get back into the snobby atmosphere of Cristina and her friends? Manuel is absolutely right about Chivis and what kind of work atmosphere suits her best.

La Dona

Rose: Yesenia also had an ominous warning for Monica, that will have deadly results.

Despite Rebecca Jones being an antagonist in this TN, I'm with Yesenia on this one: GO GET' EM YESENIA (when it comes to bringing down AG & her cronies).

La Doña

thanks for your comments Rose!

Felipe visited Lazaro first, I think, to let him know that he could find nothing showing that he was married to AG, and Laz couldn't offer anything to help other than, look at me, isn't that proof enough, when Monica walks in on them, calling Laz papa, only to be left out of the conversation, wow, she is really in the middle of things and can sense it.

so Felipe goes to Yesenia who confirms that Monica is AG's daughter (but also confirms to Felipe she hasn't been truthful), I feel for this guy.

We see Diego meets Lydia (I was spelling her name Lidya from the cast list but I see the captions, both english and spanish, are spelling it the more common way)

ah, interesting read on the tarot cards by Yesenia on Monica,
-a lying woman (AG) need to get away from her.
-her dad (is that the death card), but Yesenia lies.
-talks of a good man in her life, loves her, (we see doc Adolfo)
-an older man, important in her life, offers her love, but not as a man (we see Daniel)
-talks of a second older man, very dangerous (we see Alejandro)
-and a third man, even more dangerous (Rafael)

then Monica insists a read on her mother where Yesenia sees a dead ?? girl, Monica ?? (I couldn't tell who it was) and refuses to go any further.

La Doña

deb, thanks very much for your helpful comments. I was surprised and intrigued by Diego's meeting with Lydia. Could they become an item? And would Braulio beat the whatever out of Diego if he doesn't stay with Isabela? Diego's going out with Lydia would surely screw things up between Braulio and AG, not to mention that Lydia isn't exactly from the social class Braulio would find acceptable.

I'm not sure what to make of Vesenia's most recent reading of the cards. Her readings usually seem on target, but it's hard to believe that Mónica will die. Also, why was there no mention of Gabino, the ominous cop attracted to Mónica, when Vesenia was seeing all the men in Mónica's life?

La Doña

thanks Juanita!

I was wondering if the dead ?? girl in the vision wasn't Yesenia.

what else happened?

Rafael sees Monica with the arm load of clothes that AG gave her and rips on her for blackmailing AG, but Monica will have none of it, later she stashes the clothes at Yesenia's.

Lopez comforts Valeria, in heated novela fashion.

AG confirms Alejandro's tattoo at the pool, he was identified as having killed Cesar by Miguel, (strange guy, I keep waiting to see a head twitch like Gabriel Porras), and later we see another monkey kill her mother while Alejandro seemed to be in charge.

and Saul and Monica get together for a warm evening chat on the stairs, where Monica spits out the name his anonymous lover, AG.

LA DONA:

Deb- Great comments! Wow. The only good thing in Monica's card reading was Dr. Adolfo. And as you pointed out, that's even without mentioning the man in uniform- Gabino. Death and danger! Danger and death! Even if the cards show Daniel as a "good guy", he was still one of her mother's rapist and that's never going to win him any awards when the truth comes out.

La Dona:

Vivi: I'm betting that Daniel killed AG's mother. Your thoughts ?

Deb: I'm interested to know who's the 5th Monkey too. It could be anyone. For all we know: it could be the President of Mexico.

Juanita: Monica IS in serious danger either way!

SILVANA

novelera - quick thank you for the recap.

Today was an unexpectedted snow day and I had 3-y/o granddaughter all day. I appreciate the recap since I'll have no time to watch. We had to watch "Sesame Street presents Follow That Bird." Twice. LOL 🐥🐥🐥

Angie is the only member of her family with a brain. She must be a throwback. Gah...

Silvana. How fitting that Stella and Poncho are jetting off to Las Vegas to get married! Kind of cheesy for a cheesy couple. Good that the standardized state test turned out not to be terrible, despite the emotional chaos caused by AJ. After all, in addition to doing homework together for the part of the whole school year that Angie was at the charter school, they were also preparing for the test, ans one or the other of them mentioned occasionally.

Silvana sin Lana - Friday, January 6 - Capítulo 115, part 1/2

Majo says she feels nothing for Andrés. She loves Vicente. She and Lucha agree to make peace since they’re basically cuñadas (sisters-in-law). Vicente takes Majo and Angie home since Majo has an appointment with the doctor. Jorge asks Lucha if Andrés bought the ticket for her. She’s sure it was their father since it was left under her pillow like el ratoncito Pérez (tooth fairy) used to do when they lost a tooth when they were young. Jorge notes that Manuel will be even sadder with everything that’s going on with Chivis and now his daughter is leaving.

Don Benito leaves Margarita in charge of the bakery while he and Juanito go to see Trini. Margarita is slightly annoyed that Trini is making her grandfather jump through hoops to be with her. DB of course says it’s fine, then asks where she was. Margarita doesn’t tell him about seeing her mother.

At the Three Stooges, there’s a knock on the door. It’s Jennifer’s three kids… without Jennifer. Poncho tries to shut the door on them, but Stella brings them in. Jennifer left a note saying she’ll be back in a week, and she couldn’t find better parents than them. Poncho tries to call her. Dom starts freaking out and talking fast. Stella is actually a good person and says they need to take care of the kids, besides it will be practice for when she and Poncho have their own kids.

Majo is such a child she can’t even go to the doctor by herself. Chivis is with her. (The writers have also changed her age to 20 for some odd reason, which makes her drinking throughout this TN illegal.) Majo is really uncomfortable answering questions about her cycle and sex life and doesn’t want to have a pap smear done at first. Chivis keeps looking at her phone. AJ has not responded to her calls or messages.

Pedrito is sad that Lucha is leaving. She’s been like his mother. She tells him she won’t be gone forever, so he’d better not change anything in her room.

The PSA about safe sex continues. Majo gets her prescription for pills with advice to always use condoms too. She doesn’t seem quite as scared or childish now that the exam is over. She asks if AJ responded yet. Chivis says no, and she’s getting worried. Plus she quit her job at the terminal.

Manuel returns home and collapses on the couch, looking miserable. Lucha thanks him for the ticket, but she feels bad about what’s happening with Chivis. He tells her not to worry about it and asks when she’s planning on leaving. Tomorrow.

Margarita asked Jorge to the bakery to tell him about her mother and moving to LA with her. She is also leaving tomorrow. They hug goodbye.

Silvana sin Lana - Friday, January 6 - Capítulo 115, part 2/2

Angie tells Trini about Majo going to the gyno. She calls AJ and is hurt that he’s ignoring his family. Chivis and Majo come home and Chivis tells them she hasn’t heard from AJ either, even though she knows he’s received her messages. Lupita comes home shortly after and immediately asks where her father is. Chivis reminds her that he doesn’t live there. Lupita asks if he ran away again.

Chivis lies to Lupita, saying AJ is just gone for work. Majo and Angie take Lupita to another room to talk about camp. Trini thinks AJ will be back soon. Chivis reminds her that he disappeared for months the last time.

Bart (the oldest kid) ate so much food that he passed out on the floor. Stella thinks he needs a doctor. She calls Lucha to check him over. He’ll be fine and Lucha is really good with the kids.

Lupita tells Angie and Majo that she thinks she’s adopted. She’s china (has curly hair) while they are lacias (have straight hair). She’s pelirroja (a redhead) and they’re güeras (blonde/fair-haired). They ask if she hasn’t seen photos of their grandfather who also had curly red hair. She finally gives up on the adoption thing and tells them that she misses Pedrito. She asks them to take her to see him, but she’s afraid of their dad finding out.

Don Benito shows up at the mansion to ask Chivis if he can date her mother. Chivis thinks it’s a bit odd that her mother isn’t making her own decisions, but Trini plays it off as her being old-fashioned. Chivis agrees of course, and Trini says yes. Trini won’t let DB kiss him though and wants him to go to the cemetery to “meet” her dead husband first.

Lupita gets worried that her dad hasn’t responded to her calls. Angie and Majo get tired of trying to explain things to her so they make excuses to leave. Lupita sends another message to AJ.

Stella goes to Manuel’s to ask if they can help out with Jennifer’s kids while she and Poncho go to Vegas to get married.

Silvana

Thanks very much, J, for another excellent recap. I really needed this one, since I was either so tired or so bored or both that I fell asleep toward the end.

Yes, it's true that Majo and Lucha agree to make peace, but at first only very grudgingly on Majo's part. Given her ungracious behavior with Lucha and her absurd and childish behavior at the gynecologist's office, I may have retreated to sleep as an escape!

I was puzzled by Lupita's claiming that her sisters are güeras. Majo, yes, but Angie? On my TV, she always looks as if she has medium-dark brown hair. (Actually, both Majo and Angie might wonder whether they were adopted, since Chivis is probably a foot taller than either of them. She towers over them when they stand next to her.)

Being asleep, I mercifully missed Stella's asking Manuel if he and his family can help out with Jennifer's kids while she and Poncho go to Vegas to get married. I'd love to think that he'll say no, but I fear the goodhearted wuss is likely to agree. And will Lucha change her plane reservation?

SILVANA:

Thanks so much, J! I juts watched the episode on this lovely, quiet snow day. I wasn't happy to see Lupita back, and to see everyone doing this dance around the truth instead of just telling her that her no-good pappy disappeared again. He's been gone, what less than a day? A day? Why all the drama, calling and texting him? They're giving him exactly what he wants. He left of his own free will. He's not a child and he wasn't kidnapped. I wish Chivis would show even half the concern for Manuel for the heartbreak and pain she's putting him through right now.

Juanita- Ditto on Majo. Lucha was the only one who showed any graciousness during that scene. Majo only look like she agreed to peace because everyone else was there.

SILVANA

J -
Thank you for the recap.

I'm halfway thru watching this episode, and the first thing I thought of when Jennifer's kids were dumped off at Casa Tres Stooges was .... call Child Protective Services (or whatever they call it in Miami). Seriously, the authorities should be called in. Sooner or later, the school would question who is their legal guardian. Oh! Wait! This is telenovelaland! Oops.... my bad.

Are the writers building the story up for AJ having been run over by a bus?
Stay tuned, I guess.
The Patio of Lowered Expectations is not waiting with bated breath. At all.

Silvana. Excellent recap, J! Good observation on Majo's change from 22 to 20. That puzzled me too--maybe to make her immaturity more believable? Maybe the writers just forgot her real age? I don't see how they're going to wrap this novela up in a week, especially AJ's complex legal problems. That just makes all the filler episodes we've had lately more annoying. And speaking of annoying, Trini is even more annoying than usual. She's one of those controlling people who is never satisfied. Don Benito jumps through all the hoops she's demanded, so she just adds additional hoops. Anyone other than don Benito would get disgusted and walk away. If Jennifer is willing to deposit her 3 children, without notice, with 3 people she doesn't really know all that well (despite the brief period she and Poncho were dating), she deserves to be reported to social services. But yes, Stella's kindness to the children is a saving grace for her.

Thanks Novelera. Just when I thought this program could not be or get more stupid, the rightist through Stella asking Manuel's help with Jennifer's kids, etc. I can't anymore. How many more episodes are left? God help us all.
Helen

Silvana

Oops, my bad for not proofing before sending. I meant to say "the writers throw Stella....."
Helen

La Doña, Friday, Part 1 of 2:

Monica points out to Saul how obvious it is that he and AG are in love. Saul finally admits it, and he and Monica make peace, agree to be truthful with each other, and friends again.

Monica, Lydia and Margarita talk guys. Monica is determined not to suffer for Saul anymore, but it’s hard since he is such a perfect man in every way. Lydia points out that she’s got two more prince charmings waiting in the wings- Gabino and Dr. Adolfo. Monica doesn’t feel “that” way about either of them though. Margarita teases Lydia about the kid (Diego) she threw salsa all over, and who obviously had a thing for her. Lydia wants a real man, not a kid though.

Diego and Emiliano take turns driving way too fast and talking about girls/women. Emi tries hard to get Diego to forget about Isabel. Diego mentions Lydia. Emi tells him to go for it with Lydia, get the experience, and then move on to a girl from their class. Neither of them causes a fiery car crash (yet).

Yesenia tells Felipe that Monica is in danger from AG. She saw a dead Monica in her cards. Felipe finds it hard to believe AG would hurt her own daughter, when he’s seen how much she loves her niece.

Braulio gets frustrated when AG doesn’t allow him to accompany her to meet with Alejandro. AG and Alejandro go from the pool (where she saw his tattoo), and then to his place (instead of the hotel AG and Brau had originally planned). AG sees the pics of his kids and his dead wife. He pats her down to make sure she isn’t wired or has a weapon (not like she could hide anything in that skin-tight dress). AG, and her power red bob wig, hides her desire to vomit as his hands go up and down her body. She tells him a woman wouldn’t need a gun or knife to bring a man down. It’s a warning, not a threat. They get down to business. She needs his help transporting rosewood out of Chiapas. It’s illegal and dangerous, but she wants rosewood for her new construction project. A truckload of wood would cost $50K to transport. She wants ten truckloads, and she’ll pay $150K per truck! They have a deal.

Lopecito and Valeria make tender love in the office. She cries afterwards. She feels she is a failure as a mother, a judge, and a wife. Lopez tries to get her to see she is wonderful, and what Brau is doing to her is not her fault. He gives her his handkerchief, scented with vetiver (one of my favorite scents)—a habit he picked up from his dad. She puts her walls back up, packs her bag, including the handkerchief, and goes home.

Leticia and Rafael get ready for bed and she asks him about his past—the tattoo he used to have, his old friends, why he never goes back to Veracruz where he was born and raised. She also asks if he has another child out there—she knows he’s always wanted a daughter. Is he having an affair? She reminds him that they are fine with lies and deceit with everyone else, but not between them. They are always honest with each other—no secrets. Rafael promises this is the case, but looks guilty as hell.

La Doña, Friday, Part 2 of 2:

The next day…AG is in a horrible mood and yells that she wants to be alone to the staff. Regina speaks to her, and AG admits she met another Monkey last night. She spills her feelings, including how she felt when he ran his hands over her. She knows he’s the one who killed Cesar. Now, she just has three other Monkeys to find—the one who killed their mother, the one who killed their father, and the one who let her live, because he raped her too. Plus, she has another death to avenge—the death of her daughter. In her twisted logic, she believes that had they not rape her (and fathered her child), then she would have never rejected her daughter, and her daughter would still be alive. Regina asks what AG did to Miguel and plans to do to Alejandro and the others. AG tells her it’s better for Regina if she doesn’t know.

Saul and his parents look over his case files from the center for abused women and children. His parents are horrified by what has been done to these women, and are glad Saul has decided to stay in D.F. and take on this work. Jaime knows Saul is hiding something from him, but doesn’t push. He reminds Saul that he would do anything for him and his mother.

Monica has promised Lazaro that she will keep her distance from AG and will no longer sell tortas in her office—Marg and Lydia will do that, Monica will sell in the street. Gabino shows up with flowers for Monica. Yesenia is not pleased, and mentions that he’s a cop (Gabino is not in uniform). Gabino declares himself to be Monica’s suitor (pretendiente), much to Monica’s annoyance. Yesenia is even less pleased. Laz is indifferent, and receives the handheld fan Gabino gifts him. Monica hustles him off and he helps her and Lydia pack their basket/bike with the bags of tortas. Monica continues to fuss as Gabino. Lydia and the neighbors tease her about rejecting such a great guy who’s being such a gentleman in the way he’s courting her.

Upstairs, Margarita packs up all the salsas, and Azucena gives her a sweet blessing and kiss before she goes off. Jaime points out that she’s doing it again. Taking another young woman under her wing as a substitute for the daughter they lost. The phone rings. Earlier it rang and when Saul answered, the caller remained silent. This time, Azucena answers, and so Ximena is brave enough to say it’s her.

La Doña

Vivi, muchísimas gracias for this wonderful recap! It filled in some things I missed, and I loved your remarks, such as "(not like she could hide anything in that skin-tight dress)" and "Rafael promises this is the case, but looks guilty as hell."

I confess that when Emilio and Diego were recklessly speeding in the car, I expected a horrific crash. But, as you point out, it didn't happen (yet). But surely Telemundo's PSA imperative dictates that it will happen. I'm wondering which one of the teens will be done in when it does.

Again, MANY thanks!!

LA DONA

Juanita: I can't imagine Rafael being Monica's father.

The Monkeys List:
1.) Miguel Preciado

2.) Colonel Alejandro Cespedes

3.) Daniel Llamas

4.) Rafael Cabral

5.) ???

La Doña

thanks so much for the wonderful recap Vivi!

when Monica and Saul agreed to be friends and then hugged, you could really see in her eyes that this was not the case with her, this is love on a gran amor scale.

I had never heard of vetiver.

I noticed in the flashbacks that AG's mother had her throat cut and her father was shot, I assume Rafael and the unknown monkey were each responsible for one of them, or maybe Miguel killed one and Rafael is being truthful when he says he is not a murderer.

I noticed when these characters say "monkey" (which isn't a spanish word right?) it has a different ring to it.

La Doña:

deb- Monkey in Spanish is mono. I guess the Monkeys thought they sounded cooler as a gang if they used the English word. Again, all I can think about it "hey, hey, we're the Monkees!" :)

Silvana
Now I need to right a wrong I made in thanking Novelera instead of J for the recap. So sorry for the mixup. Thanks J.
Helen

SILVANA

Thanks so much, J, for the recap. I especially enjoyed your clever pointing out of some of the idiocies we’re being treated to.

Yes, Majo was very grudging when she was making nice. I also noticed them lopping two years off her age. I think this is just the writers forgetting what was said before.

I simply cannot believe the Stooges. I agree. Call Child Protective Services. Maybe Jennifer has a spy at the airport that told her about the flight to Las Vegas. And, really, who meekly decides to take on someone else’s badly behaved children and likely miss their wedding in Las Vegas? It’s really too crazy for words.

I didn’t miss Lupita. I think it was Jude Gray who commented on the tick-tock nursery sound that accompanies her scenes. I hadn’t really noticed it, but I surely did last night. They really should have cast a younger girl if the role was written for such a babyish girl.

And, Trini, my God. She kept saying she was old fashioned. She’s kind of medieval, really. And Don Benito is prepared to visit the cemetery to meet her deceased husband? He did rather gently say that he would probably estirar la pata (kick the bucket) before Trini accepts him as a boyfriend, or marries him, not sure which he meant.

Yes, the refusal of AJ to answer even Lupita’s texts and phone calls is weird. I suppose it’s possible he’s in a huff and behaving badly, but it feels to me like something else is going on.

It may be too late, but Jennifer’s kids could certainly benefit from some of Manuel’s good parenting!

La Doña

I'm starting to get nervous about being able to catch up. I've been scrolling madly past all the, I'm sure, terrific recaps in order to be able to watch the episodes. But there are 20 on my DVR!

Silvana. I'm starting to think that Poncho and Stella may end up with a ready-made family of 3 children. Let's hope not.

Thank you, J--it's a good thing we're nearing the end. I'll bet you are glad, too.

Hey, what about it's Jennifer running away with AJ? (NOT, but, please, anything to get this AJ thing over with and the fate of the children decided.)

SILVANA

I have a theory that AJ scammed Esteban's boss and has taken off before he's discovered, that's why I think he left

Olise

Silvana. Wow! Olise: That's very plausible. Just the kind of thing AJ would do.

SILVANA

Olise -
Great theory!

SILVANA:

Olise- That's highly probable. As far as we can see, AJ dumped a large portion of that cash from Steve's boss into getting back their house, furniture, and putting Lupita back into private school. If Steve's boss comes looking to be compensated, Chivis and the girls lose it all again, and its back to the duplex, this time with a hole in the wall between the two bedrooms. The real problem is how to get AJ out of Chivis' life forever, when she seems incapable of filing for divorce?

Silvana

Vivi: 24 hours away from this TRAINWRECK finally being over!

Chivis loves the Buji lifestyle too much!

La Dona

SpanProf: I'm pulling for Yesenia to bring down AG & her cronies!

AG has no idea that Rafael was one of the Monkeys involved in raping her & killing Cesar & her parents.

Like to see the look on AG's face when the truth about Rafael is revealed!

Silvana. Of course after this telenovela is over comes the real dilemma. Do I watch La Fan or not?

SILVANA

SpanProf - I'm having the same dilemma! I'm not into narcovelas and not ready for a Telerisa telenovela. I'll probably give La Fan a try, to see if I can stomach it.

Silvana

Frankly, the previews for La Fan have completely turned me off. Total absurdity and slapstick, sort of as if Silvana consisted only of Trini and The Three Stooges.

I'm hoping some people who have been watching Silvana will move over to La Doña after Silvana ends. It's well acted and quite gripping. Novelera got us started with an invaluable 4-part who's who and what's what, Deb provided several weeks of excellent recaps, and Vivi joined in this weekend. Also, all the episodes are available on Telemundo's website, with optional Spanish captions.

Silvana and La Doña

To follow up on what I've said about hoping some people will move to La Doña after Silvana ends, here are links to the Caray Telemundo pages where the discussions of La Doña begin:

The first Caray page, including novelera's 4-part intro and more

The second Caray page, including more recaps and comments

Silvana and La Doña

Thanks for the links, Juanita. I am definitely moving to La Doña once Silvana is over. I wavered a bit when some of the recent promos showed some of my favorites being in La Fan: Gabriel Porras, Miguel Varoni, and Ximena Duque. It's interesting that the early promos featured no one I'd want to see and then they started upping the ante with some good actors. But they may just be making cameos. In any case, I'm certainly not up for another comedy.

La Doña

novelera- I think you will enjoy this new face that Aracely Arámbula has put on the classic Doña Bárbara story, Danna Paola (an accomplished singer, actress, model, fashion designer by the age 20) brings the icing to the cake, the story will pull you right in, and please comment on any of the earlier episodes, I'm dying to hear what you have to say.

Wasn't Ximena Duque previously on NBC's "Days Of Our Lives" ?
