Vino el Amor, Lunes 01/16/17 Chapter 54: Hitting the Return Key

Juan and David disagreed about Miguel, whom Juan is trying to throw shade on just because he is acquainted with Erika. He then handed him a favorable financial report which David should probably find suspect. He's trying to get more on David's good side, where he was before.

León and Luciana were having a late night snack in Mexico City and she was worrying about Erika moving in on Miguel. León reminded her that Miguel waited all those years for her. He's not worried... and very much enjoying the semi-fast food of Mexico.

Carito and Perla brought water to the illegals. They asked about the missing girl and there was no new information. One of the men speculated on the possibility of prostitution. There was still a lot of coughing from the chorus in the background of this recitative. Carito is getting more worried about these workers; Perla asked whether she was sure that the dead man wasn't one of them.

When talking to Miguel on the phone Luciana was very upfront about her jealousy over Erika. Miguel responded with his jealousy over David. He's fed up with what looks like David taking every excuse to be near her. This is unlikely to be the last time they argue about this. Luciana is beginning also to get concerned about whether the interview went as well as she thought.

At breakfast the following morning, Bobby felt bad about messing up DisGracie's painting, as he told David and Fernanda at dinner. DisGracie arrived just in time to hear this and she told the boy not to worry about this. He told her he was sorry and she slopped over with sugar saying it was alright and that he could help her paint in the future. Fernanda got into this and DisGracie suggested that the three of them work on a painting for David. Lillian was mildly amused by this.

Miguel and Carito were on the porch of the employees' quarters talking. She told him she made coffee for him, with cinnamon, like Marta does. He told her he was going to look for relatives of the dead worker. He read out the name and – we were all right about this – it was Carito's cousin. She dropped her coffee mug in shock.

Brian arrived at the main house in civvies, bearing two tickets to something [I hope it was a concert] to celebrate Luciana's visa. He said he wanted them to do everything they previously hadn't had time for. She asked him why he suddenly had so much free time. He said something about priorities and that he wanted to spend more time with her. He did look over his shoulder and speak a little sotto voce.

Carito cried about her cousin, blaming herself because she tried to help the other girl. She was afraid to talk to her uncle and aunt about this. Miguel promised to help.

Adolfo called on Lillian, hoping to be spending more time with her. He refrained from talking about the problems in his own vineyard, saying that effective immediately they were going to start enjoying the good things in life.

Carito called her aunt to give her the bad news. She promised to take care of things. She cried as she ended the call. Miguel was there to comfort her. Perla arrived and they updated her. Carito still felt guilty. Miguel hugged her as she cried.

Montage with full version of title music, which looks like it's filling up the next five days: León and Luciana ate and drank their way through DF as Brian stood by Marta in the kitchen as she cooked; he was even wearing an apron over his [still incorrect] uniform! David and Juan went out drinking at a bar. Carito still moped on the porch. Lillian and Adolfo dined and wined, Sonia texted León some romantic nonsense from the book they're both reading. Miguel helped Erika with something at the computer, DisGracie gave the kids art lessons, Fernanda invaded the kitchen at the employees' shack, obviously just to see Tano. Mark harassed Susan in the street [She looked like she was cringing from a horror movie monster]. Brian [in civvies again] hung out with Marta on the porch. She called up some music on her cell and they started slow-dancing.

It must be the five days later because Luciana came up to David in the vineyard to tell him the good news: She has permission to return and a work visa.

Miguel told Erika the bad news about the deceased worker. She thanked him for being so helpful in all this. He told her not to worry, since they're friends. He did ask her why she didn't previously tell him that she was Adolfo's daughter. She enumerated the issues about that disclosure and he asked why she assumed he would be judgmental. She asked him out. He looked a little shocked.

David is the happiest we've ever seen him as Luciana said there would be no more issues. She is happy because she is doing this for love... of the land, etc., etc., etc.

Miguel started making excuses about workload but Erika suggested they go out to the steakhouse [Wasn't that where Luciana had that nasty little scene with DisGracie?] and Miguel suggested that they do this tonight.

At probably the same exact time Luciana and David walked back from the vineyard and she talked about how much she liked DF. She pulled out her cell and showed him photos and talked about the food. She talked about hoping to go back there someday. David said she should because Mexico is also her home, lamenting that he couldn't go with her. [Here we go again.]

Marta was thrilled to have León back, hugging him as though he had been gone five weeks instead of five days. She was mock-annoyed not to know his arrival to prepare a special meal. He couldn't stop talking about the food and how big the city was. Carito came downstairs and he paid his condolences about her cousin. He took out a bag of candy.

Luciana told David she felt bad about not being there during the frost, but David told her he missed her.

León took out a present for Marta, a colorful shoulder bag. She guessed he also bought a gift for Sonia; he told her it was books. They talked about Brian, etc.

No kiss for Luciana and David, as DisGracie showed up with the usual insincere comments about being sure she would be back. David seemed aware of a wrong note in there, but DisGracie distracted him by saying she had another promotional idea for the vineyard.

In the office, Carito talked about Miguel comforting her during her bereavement, which made Perla comment that Miguel “feels something for you, but Luciana has bewitched him.” [How many versions of this have we already heard? Writers, can you please make some progress here?] Fortunately, Juan arrived and scolded them for sitting around gossiping when there was work to be done. He said something about the illegals being better in a week or so, but Perla said they should see a doctor. “Especially after what happened to my cousin,” said Carito. Further, she said he needed to allow them to treat these people like their brothers or she would quit.

DisGracie started talking about concerts and events but David felt that celebrating the wine needed to be something different. Like a party to celebrate the earth and the workers and giving thanks for the grapes. DisGracie's reaction was one of contempt with a “Alright, have it your way. Excuse me,” and sulked her way back to where she came from. Miguel arrived with a report only to find out that David had already seen Luciana.... before he did. He handed the folder to David and went off to look for Luciana.

Carito protested the conditions under which the workers were being housed and Juan made the excuse that anything else risked discovery. More of the same. They were to obey him or forget the whole thing.

Miguel and Luciana met in the vineyard. He was put out at being second on her list and she said she looked for him and couldn't find him. He was with Erika. They started arguing about this. Luciana was sure that Erika was seeking him out to steal him for her own vineyard. Miguel denied this, but still had to defend himself when Luciana went on about Carito's attentions. They did not resolve this.

León went into the main house kitchen to greet Sonia. He gave her two new books (similar edition to the one they're both reading now). She was thrilled to pieces. She told him this was the most beautiful gift she ever received, then hugged him.

DisGracie was not having a good day painting. She threw her brush and palette down in frustration as Lillian only brought her more with the reminder that Joselo was waiting for her work. And to make things worse, Luciana is back. DisGracie was still determined to believe that Luciana was no competition for her. Lillian told her she had better do something before she ends up alone in the street. Vitches.

It looks like the missing girl has appeared. León found her somewhere else on the property. We still don't know her name, but she's disheveled, hungry, and desperate.

Bare bones, just the facts, folks.

Thanks you so much Urban. Loved your title too, "Hitting the return key", so appropriate. I was kind of busy when I watched this one and I couldn't figure out how we saw Leon and Luciana in Mexico City playing turista, then all of a sudden we see Luciana with David and she's telling him she just got back. I kept wondering, "what did I miss?" So thank you for filling in my blanks and confirming that was what I thought I saw. I guess all that montage was supposed to give the impression we are going five days later. Ok....

I KNEW the dead guy had to be Carito's cousin. I am almost sure I heard Carito refer to her cousin Felipe in a previous show. That's why when Miguel read the name on Friday's show, it seemed so familiar and I just thought it had to be him. I felt very badly for Carito here, the actress did a very good job.

The interaction between Sonia and Leon was cute. I think she is really falling for Leon. Perhaps we won't be seeing her swoon over David anymore.

Boy that girl came out of nowhere, didn't she? I hope that Leon can help her before Perla gets a hold of her.

The shots in this series of clouds rushing by overhead look like a passage of lots of time, but I've gotten used to them as meaning hours. The montage had the characters in different clothes, especially Brian because he went from civvies to uniform and back again. I also have issues with day for night, such as the kitchen scenes a couple of episodes ago when Marta was making coffee for the workers in the stock pot. It was supposed to be night and it looked like day because of the light outside the windows.

It looks like Luciana is going to have issues with Miguel about Erika and not over anything professional. They need to settle their relationship once and for all. There is no shame being single anymore and if Luciana truly wants David she should fight for him. She knows that DisGrace is a succubus and FerBrat is a selfish little girl. Luciana may need a Henry Higgins to become the classy version of Eliza Doolittle, but Cesar can be that person. She doesn't have that far to go for that.

Adolfo will probably have issues about Erika going for Miguel. He may think that Erika should pursue David. How close together are their properties, anyway?

Excellent as always UA. When I read your recaps, I can so easily see the events in my mind's eye as you carefully narrate all the important events in stylish fashion.

"she slopped over with sugar" was my favorite line and like you Cynthia, thought the title was perfect.

The character who surprised me a bit last night was Brian. I found the character likeable for the first time and saw a bit of what must have always been obvious to Marta and Lil in terms of his appeal. "He did look over his shoulder and speak a little sotto voce". Have to give him credit, Lili is intimidating him far less than she would me. Are we actually to think that she is getting involved with Adolfo. She seems less than thrilled.

I must have missed a bit of this and unfortunately it was Luci and Miguel reuniting. I wish she wasn't so sharp tongue jealous of Erika, but the truth is that she should be. Ericka is putting her affection for Miguel right out there. I was also a bit surprised Adolfo looked in at seeing the two of them work and smiled. UA,I thought he might push Devid on her as well. He likely knows what we already do, she is likely not prone to doing what she is told to do.

If I had to choose one person as a friend here, it would be Miguel. He was so sweet and kind to Carito. He is very kind and compassionate.

Enjoyed Sonia and Leon's convo and of course Veronica makes this character sparkle and shine like few others could.

"Mark harassed Susan in the street [She looked like she was cringing from a horror movie monster]". That was just painful to watch. I am relieved we were spared any more glimpses as to what might be going on with them.

I'm still waiting for the David/Luci kiss that will accelerate their passions and move this storyline along.

UA, thank you!

Diana

Miguel actually wouldn't be a bad match for Erika, since he is very knowledgeable, dedicated, and a good person. The problem is the double standard in this situation where David would be faulted far less for marrying Luciana (when the time comes) because she has the formal education that Miguel doesn't have. Adolfo probably will want Erika to pursue someone more like David.

Which will put him at odds with Lillian. If she continues to see Adolfo it's because she'll be digging for more gold. If she gets him she'll find another Brian to cheat on him with.

I'm with Diana UA loving "she slopped over with sugar", great recap.

I don't see why Erika likes Miguel, and I know it's a matter of taste but I would be horrified to be seen in public with a guy that cuts the sleeves off his shirts and struts around like a rooster. I agree Luciana needs more than a makeover but so does Miguel.

It was nice of Miguel to comfort Carito but does she not know about Erika?

If the runaway sees Juan, poor girl from the frying pan into a fire.

I don't see anything romantic or sensual about Dave and Luciana hovering an inch from each others lips.

So, no passerby seemed bothered by a man pinning a woman as she cried in broad daylight on the streets of Sonoma?

Alright, again it seemed to me Miguel has co-opted the galan spot in this TN. Typical set up of jealously, a misunderstanding or two and the couple splits to be reunited later. Luciana teases David a bit and Erika almost gets Miguel to San Francisco. Why David has so prominent a role befuddles me, the part could be played by a cardboard cutout. After seeing Luciana's jealously last night (justified I might add) it confirms for me she wants both men in orbit.

If David gets Luciana on rebound why is that romantic? But that won't happen after Luciana finds out he kissed Graciela. Poor, poor, pitiful Luciana just cannot turn her back on her two men.

I have witnessed several street scenes like the Mark and Susan one in real life. Nobody wants to get involved in them because of the potential danger. For some people it's a "none of my business" thing and for others it's "I have to worry about getting hurt." For me it's the latter, especially if I'm out alone.

What needs to happen is for masses of people to whip out their cells and call 911 in those situations, but that won't stop this happening behind closed doors.

What is bothering me about Carito now is how she can potentially misinterpret Miguel's comforting her in her grief. Perla opened the door to that. Miguel should have been looking for Marta or Perla as soon as Carito dropped the coffee mug.

Luciana finding out about The Kiss is SOP for TN writers, especially with more than 80 episodes to go.

Thanks, Urban. The TN writers aren’t helping with their repetition, but your title and recap are fab.

Adolfo and Lillian. Wondering if he’s going after her because he thinks she has money of her own. But then she doesn’t act like a beyotch when she’s with him.

Brian and Marta. Sonia and León. These two couples were the highlights last night.

So Luciana is jealous of Graciela with David and of Erika with Miguel. She brought back a buckle for David when she returned the last time and thought of it dreamily while she was in Mexico this time. It seems she brought back no gift for Miguel. Graciela, please catch Luciana and David in another almost-kiss and send the photo to Miguel. We are badly in need of fireworks to get this thing moving.

Thank you, Urban. that was a great recap with everything we needed to know.

Well..Tberrreee baccckkkk. Leon with smiles and gifts and Luci with pouts and shouts. I am very tired of Luci. Does absence make the heart grow fonder , or is out of sight , out of mind ? Luci is jealous because Miguel has been seeing Erika even though she refuses to commit to him. Hey, girl, if you don't want him , set him free to be with someone who does. You cannot have it both ways. I think that Miguel is finally looking a little tired of this situation and perhaps about to give up on Luci. I think the writers intend Luci and Dave to be the endgame, but I would be happy to see LUci end up with neither guys.

Poor little Carito finally got Miguel to embrace her but only in sympathy. Miguel is a good guy. I would choose him.

The screen cap perfectly captured Didpsgracie's trademark smirk.

The scene of MArkme already manhandling and intimating SOosan in public was awful. People are reluctant to get involved. I have friends who are police who tell me that domestic disputes are always dangerous for them to intervene in.

Brian has to stop sleeping with Lilian if he wants me to believe that he really loves MArta. Basta.

I think that this might be the first telenovela in which I dislike both the female villain AND the leading lady. DisGracie killed her sister and is a heartless , grasping, conceited poser , but Luci is unpleasant and can't move her life forward and make a choice. I think that she wants Dave, but she does not want to give up Miguel's unfailing devotion and support. Cake.

Thank you for the recap, UA, and we can feel your exasperation through our monitors at how circular/static this show is being right now with its A-story. (It's got a ways to go before it gets to Silvana sin lana levels, but still.) Just about everything else is making progress, even if it's just a step or two, except the A-story. Even Lilian is/was giving Adolfo some time and presumably trying to wash that Gutierrez right out of her hair (for the moment), and Mark and Susan are officially a thing again--the operative word being "thing." (Since this novela is set in California, if somewhat supposedly-rural California, I'm holding out hope at this point that Mark's ultimate fate is to be hit by a bus.)

Agree Susanlynn, Luciana wants both men to adore her and she gets angry and stomps when the world continues when she isn't around.

I understand why Miguel likes her and her appearance did shake David awake, Bobby likes her like an older sister, otherwise she brings David nothing but as Susan's back up at the vineyard.

But the two guys making fools of themselves for her is not all her doing. Miguel is jealous of David's attention but Luciana, since she's been with Miguel, hasn't given David any encouragement, quite the opposite. So for Miguel to hang with his new, wealthy, educated, beautiful, interested, rival "friend" because Luciana is mistreating him, an insincere justification. Come on Miguel and admit flattery is very seductive.

As for David, how could he ever take her in public without fear of a scene or speak to another female or disagree with her about anything knowing she'll abandon him. Think of your kids Dave, do you really want mercury instead of glue to hold your family together?

Tofie: I've NEVER liked Luciana from the get-go. Erika better get off her expletive & take Miguel FAR AWAY from the drama & never come back!

Bill C: OJ Mark & Susan will NOT last long, you watch!

Susanlynn: Gutierrez is desperate to become County Sheriff so bad, he IS addicted to Lillian & can't get an intervention to help himself.

Niecie: What's the angle between Lillian & Adolfo ? What's his game here ?

UA: OJ Mark & Susan reminds me of OJ Simpson & Nicole Brown Simpson.

A quick real life story about intervening in an argument.

About 20 years ago, I was driving to work and saw a young man and woman in a heated argument. He was holding her wrists and she seemed angry rather than afraid. I pulled over, got out of the car and ran over. They were brother and sister and admitted that she was trying to leave the house after a family argument and the brother was trying to convince her to stay. I can't remember what I said but asked them to calm down which they did do. They continued to talk and as I moved away, saw them moving back toward the house.

I think of that day so often. If it had been a dangerous situation would I have exacerbated it by trying to intervene? Would I have done more harm that good? Could he have hurt her (or me). I guess I will never know.

A few of you know that I have been held up at gunpoint twice in my life. All I can say is that it's true - the adrenaline kicks in and you either react or you don't. The first time I was in a 7 11 (as a teenager) where a gunman had us lie down and pointed a gun at the back of each of our heads. The second time was 8 years ago, when a gunman pointed a gun at my head on a nice sunny day after I'd visited the ATM and gotten in the car with my window open. I was so angry, instead of giving him the money, I put the car in drive and peeled to the other side of the parking lot. Again, never something I'd recommend but that's what I did.

Whew. Bringing back a lot of memories and not so good ones. But good Samaritans are real and thankfully, they do intervene and have helped save many lives.

Diana

Diana - I can't even imagine how you've gone through this horrible experience -- not once but twice! Amiga, thanks for sharing with us and holding onto to your innate optimism.

Niecie: I'm worried that OJ Mark might kill Susan before too long.

Thanks Niecie. I appreciate your kind and caring words...

Diana

Diana--My heart was in my throat as I read about your involvements. Real life is certainly much more dangerous than this pretend telenovela. Thankfully, nothing like that happen to me and I've lived in some dicey neighborhoods with my kids--by myself.

The only incident was a Mark-Susan like confrontation with my soon to be ex-husband on a major street in Washington, D.C., in broad daylight, in public, with both of my children in tow. He had followed us out of the house, grabbed me and grabbed one of my children. It was obvious no one was going to come help me. I was not about to be separated from either of my children, so I backed off and went back to the house with him. Eventually, he calmed down and things went back "to normal" until I told my parents I was going to leave him. They gave me their full support, financial and emotional for which I am eternally indebted to them. Not everyone has that option.

Urban--If these were bare bones, they were just the right touch to put the frustration we're all having over Luciana's Green Light, Yellow Light, Red Light game she's playing with her two galans.

I am in complete agreement with all of you regarding her childish fits of jealousy. As of right now, she doesn't deserve either guy, but Graciela doesn't deserve David either and there's no one else on the horizon.

Erika and Miguel compliment each other perfectly. They talk, laugh, listen and help each other in complete ease. Luci is always fending off Miguel from getting that San Francisco Treat. There is always tension between them. I must only surmise the writers are trying to figure out what in the hell they can do to lessen Miguel's pent up ardor and his commitment to Luci.

Tofie--If Luciana gets a make-over, I sure hope she gets a new, shorter, hairstyle. I worry about the wine getting any of her DNA in it--or me drinking it.

Susanlynn--in Friday's episode, Lilian ended it with Gut. She's pretty much through with him. That's why he has more "time" for Marta. His interest in her still baffles me. She wears housedresses for heaven's sakes.

Bless you Anita. That must have been a frightening ordeal! I think there are few things as fierce as protective mothers.

I am glad your parents were so wonderfully supportive and that you were able to start a new and happy life.

I have always felt that if stories were culled from real life, they would be deemed too outrageous and dismissed. Sometimes, these storylines just pale in comparison.

Diana

Diana and Anita..Oh my goodness. What scary situations for you both.

Diana, living in a rural area and avoiding cities except those my older daughter has lived in , I have been !Ucky. However, when I was a teen living on a farm, we grew and sold potatoes and sometimes people would drive up to the house if our roadside stand was closed. One day, I was home alone upstairs in my bedroom which faced our lane.A man drove up and got out of the car. I decided I didn't feel like getting potatoes out of the potato cellar in the barn, so I did not answer the door. He stood at the end of our sidewalk and was looking up at the windows. Finally, when he thought no one was home, he was nosing around the Milkhouse. Then, I saw him roll a couple of tires out and put them in his car. I was so mad that I walked outside and asked if he wanted something. He calmly asked if we had potatoes. I said " no, and would you kindly put back my father's tires." Then, I realized that I was home alone. I ran into the house, grabbed my dad's rifle, and called my boyfriend to come right over.It was a foolish thing to do...But I was MAD.

Thank you UA. I appreciate it, I didn't even really have time to watch except the last 15 minutes! Interesting twist at the end.

Leon and Sonia continue to be the couple to root for.

Miguel and Gracie need to just move on from Luciana and David and leave them to stomp and grimace towards each other. I can see Miguel doing this with Erika (although good points made above - Adolfo sure won't like that at all). Gracie, well she's the villainess so I bet she'll hang in there.

UA, I've been confused about the two vineyards too. David's is in Sonoma and Adolfo's seems to be in Santa Barbara or is at least named that). Google maps says that's six hours apart which wouldn't explain Erika running over for help last week.

Diana and Anita, so glad you both survived what sounded like very scary situations to be in.

Urban thanks for the recap that just keeps on giving. The Luciana & Miguel show of jealousy, the luciana & David
Show of "I love U but we can't be a
Couple because of my grapes & my kids show". They can't get a good kiss in because goldisgracilocks keeps happily slithering up to stick in her forked tongue in between them. I guess that
Will keep happening until it don't.

I like the mig better with erika. Cuz
He's just gonna get a broken heart with Lucy. And Marta need to stop talking him and herself into a happy ending for these two, cuz it ain't happen in. And lucy is exaggerating the jealousy thing, she's not that jealous. She's over doin it. She's tryin to convince him and herself. And
Her finding David first...how hard did
She look for Miguel when she got back?
Really girl, who is she kidding?

Sonia and Leon are cute together. Now
What is he gonna do with lost girl?
Marta better enjoy her hotblooded American Latino cuz when Lucy sees him, I feel their days are numbered.
What the he'll is up with suzzy & the
Ex from he'll? Did he hit her? She should do what Cesar said, sue his butt. She's afraid of him and he knows
It. He's got power over her. She needs to figure out How to get ungot. Cuz fear is torture and that's no way to live.

Thanks Urban.

Lol, Anita maybe those House dresses turns the gut on in a kinky kind of a way. She is pretty tho. Wardrobe))))).

Thanks, Urban. Only thing I have to say is that Leon and Sonia are the only one worthy of sighs!

OT - Susanlynn. I started Outlander on Friday (the 13th) and I'm about a third through the book. I'm LOVIN' it!

Susanlynn--We all have stories of scary moments. I hope your dad got his tires back!

Can't wait to see the "missing" girl all cleaned up, fed and telling her story. I wonder if Perla and Carito will treat her like a friend or an interloper. There are just not enough available men in this story. We know Perla and Juan aren't going to last.

Anita: Erika needs to take Miguel FAR AWAY! These 2 are obviously going to be together.

Susanlynn: Karma will be coming for Carito & Perla. It's not if, it's WHEN!

OT...Anita..Yes, the guy looked at me, and then he got the tires out of his car and filled them back into the Milkhouse as I ran into the house!

PT...Lila.....So excited that you have started your Outlander journey!!!! I am happy to share this wonderful saga with you. You are in for some surprises. I think that you have the first three books, right? I think that Anita has also read the book series, and Vivi and Carlos have watched the show on Starz. The first three books are my favorites , but I have enjoyed the whole book series. I read all the books the summer before last right after I watched the first season of the TV show. The author is currently writing book#9 , and she thinks there might be one more . Have you seen the TV series on STarz. They are currently filming the third book Voyager. It is very good. Some changes have been made in the story that has upset the book readers , but it is still very good! The casting has been great even though the actors do not always look like the characters as described in the books.

Susanlynn, I'm glad that everything worked out. Very scary.

But, you DO get mad, don't you? At times, it doesn't equate to sound behavior but once that adrenaline kicks in, that's it.

dy, thank you!

Anita, I'm glad the missing girl turned up. And if she had to run into anyone, glad it was Leon rather than Juan or shudder, Mark.

Diana

OT -- Susanlynn, I have not watched any of the series. I've got a four book set to start and I'll probably be one of those people upset when the show doesn't match the book. I form very clear pictures when I read and get invested in my mental images so I'm glad to be forewarned.

Just started Chapter 13 and I am wrapped up in it! Thanks for turning me on to this. Haven't read much outside of work-related stuff in a long time. Enjoying the deliciousness of getting lost in another world, courtesy of a book!

Way OT - Lila and Susanlynn
Indeed I got immersed in Outlander. I have 7 of the books, watched season 1 twice on my DVD while waiting for Season 2. I now have S2.

I put Jamie down temporarily in order to read William Manchester's book on Winston Churchill (vol. 2, the Last Lion). It is scary to contemplate how easy it was for Hitler to bamboozle his own people and the governments of his neighboring countries (including the United States) leading up to the Anschluss.

I also finished two wake-up books: Gary Taubes, Why we get fat (basically since the introduction of high-fructose corn syrup) and Dr. Robert Lustig's Fat Chance. Now THOSE are really scary.

OT -- Wow, Anita, those "Fat" books sound good. I dumped HFC a few years ago after hearing about it's eeevils from a podcast I listen to and other sources. May have to check those out! Thanks!

Steve: If Luci had blonde hair, wouldn't she look just like that chick in that "Insatiable Cheerleaders" DVD I loaned you?

OT..ANita..I always check labels for high fructose corn syrup. It is in many things. P.s. You must read book 8 Written in My Own Heart's Blood so that you are ready for book 9 as soon as it comes out..Probably late 2017. They are about a third of the way through filming Voyager. They have already cast many characters..Mary, Geneva, Lord John, JOe, Ian Jr. Do not know when season three will air. They also have the go ahead for the next book Drums of AUtumn.

OT..LIla and Anita ..Goggle OUtlander to find lots of photos and articles about the Starz show. CompuServe OUtlander has people discussing the books and now the TV show since the first book was written 25 years ago..Fascinating discussions of characters and plots.

Susanlynn: I'm afraid that the runaway girl will get caught eventually.
