But I'll leave all that to Juanita to figure out when the time comes.

Then it was almost the clash of the titans, Regina, [finally] had the confrontation with heifer/ the sister from hell…

..The bio –dad, was not just a dead- beat dad, but just another victim/patsy…Orlando was set up to be murdered this truth was exposed to Isa brat…

Regina make your move and stick to it.....ok, she and Isa brat hauled ass!! Before the Sh*t-hits-the-fan!!

Its deep they moved in with Monica... Just like family, just slide-up to the door and park their ass on the couch

Sad sack Saul recuperating w/scruffy... the charge of witchcraft, got to scruffy, but Saul defended heifer, and reiterated the whole , sacred-altar- area was related to her parents/novio…

Erika de la Rosa (Marlene in Eva La Trailera, Felicia in Bajo el mismo cielo) is Selva, broken heart daughter of a gangster that unknowingly led to Julio César being shot.

Sofía Lama (whiner other girl Betty in Eva La Trailera), is Julio César's doctor sister.

Manuel Balbi (from La Patrona, Rosa Diamante) as David, dead and buried already in this one, he gets the worst roles but does them so well.

Alex Speitzer (from Bajo el mismo cielo, the son) as Nicolás Zabala, son of Rafa.

I was not expecting Rafa to go out so quickly like that. Looks like Braulio will be the last (male) villain left standing. In a showdown between him and AG, my money's on AG. Then it will be her turn to face her final anvil.

I also think Leticia and Valeria are getting off easy for their past complicity in their husbands' and AG's crimes.
 

GUERRA DE IDOLOS:

Deb- I wasn't expecting to, but I also watched the first two episodes last night, and found that it kept my interest throughout. The storyline was interesting, and I couldn't help but think of all the different Latino music star real-life stories they pulled from-- Selena, Jenny Rivera, the various musical family dynasties (and the rivalries and jealousies), the link between Mexican regional music and narcos/gangsters, leading to them sometimes being pulled into violence.

I was surprised by how quickly I went from being annoyed by the crazy obsessed fan club leader, to feeling sorry for her being sent to prison and wrongfully accused of the shooting. Poor girl.

I was amused by music producer Mateo Solar bringing together two very different of his musical groups-- a NYC urban-caribbean-latin pop group, and a rural-norteno Mexican group, who all just happen to be gangsters on the side, to avenge his brother being gunned down. What a wacky combination of people and skills!
 

La Doña - Capítulo 117 - Martes - 1/2

Karen, Saúl, Lopecito, and several police officers prepare to raid the brothel from which Yurida fled. Using details Yurida provided, Saúl tries to gain entry as someone named Jairo. Guards search him, since neither phones nor cameras are permitted. He's then told he can pick whichever woman he'd like. Following the description Yurida gave him, he chooses Marilyn, and the two of them go upstairs. Saúl looks around carefully for cameras and microphones and then tells Marilyn not to undress, he's there to rescue her and the other women.

AG talks to Braulio through one of the cameras she and Matamoros discovered in her house. She tells Braulio to call her. He does so and berates her, telling her, "I've loved you all your life and I've complied with everything you've asked, and this is the way you pay me." AG replies that he's a violador who is as bad or worse than the Monkeys. After he killed Yesenia and tried to kill Saúl and her, there's no going back.

Leticia wants to go to the brothel to get the story. She asks Mónica to come with her. Mónica is reluctant, fearing that their going there could ruin everything (echar a perder), but her moment of sanity doesn't last, and she agrees to go with Leticia.

Lydia talks with Valeria, who accuses her of asking Diego to leave school to be with her. Lydia informs her that, quite the contrary, she told Diego that if he left school, she'd stop seeing him. She loves Diego and wants him to be happy, and she knows that his studies are important to him. Valeria apologizes and starts to talk about how living with Braulio has soured her. Lydia asks her not to mention him. Valeria apologizes again and promises Lydia that Braulio will never again hurt either of them.

Braulio calls AG again and says he wants to meet with her. He'll tell her where and when. Lucio warns AG not to meet with Braulio, but she doesn't listen.

One of the cops who came with Karen knocks out a guard. Saúl then opens a door for him and tells him to leave it open. Marilyn goes downstairs. The matron in charge sees her and asks why she left her client alone. Marilyn replies that he has asked for a bottle of their best mezcal. The matron gives her a bottle, and she returns upstairs with it. A short while later, Saúl comes downstairs, claims to be unhappy, and asks for three more women. The matron says the women are all busy. Saúl says something about being a friend of Andrés. Oops. Andrés has just arrived and says he doesn't know this guy. While this is happening, the women are fleeing from the house. Saúl says it was a misunderstanding, and that he and Andrés have a friend in common, Teodoro. Andrés draws a gun and demands that Saúl describe Teodoro. One of the guards, too, points a gun at Saúl. Saúl grabs Andrés's gun. The guard shoots, aiming at Saúl but hitting Andrés in the shoulder. The sound of the gunshot prompts Karen to give the order to storm the house. Mónica and Leticia have arrived, and they want to come, too, but Karen and Lopecito prevail on them to stay where they are. The police enter the house and make arrests.

Regina goes to AG's to find some pills she accidentally left there. As soon as she leaves, AG arrives to talk to Isabela. Isabela doesn't want to talk with her. She says she knows that AG was responsible for her father's being jailed and killed, and for making Regina believe that he deserted her as soon as he learned she was pregnant. AG plays the Veracruz card, but Isabela replies that other people have horrible things happen to them, but they don't then threaten and hurt people.
 

La Doña - Capítulo 117 - Martes - 2/2

AG wants Isabela to trust her and says she has always regarded her as her daughter. Isabela asks how she can have faith in AG when AG didn't even want her own daughter. AG slaps Isabela. Regina returns. She's surprised to see AG. We then get a recitation of all the reasons Regina loves AG and hates AG. AG tells Regina she's right, she and Isabela deserve the best, but "the only way is to be far from me. Las quiero mucho." She leaves.

Leticia presents her powerful show to her boss, who tells her it's not going to be shown. Leticia is stunned and offers strong arguments in favor of broadcasting the story, but the boss is adamant. Eventually, he makes it clear that the decision came from above, and he fires Leticia.

Karen experiences the same thing. She and Jorge are jubilant over the rescue of the women at the brothel and the arrest of those responsible for forcing them into prostitution. She and Jorge kiss, but their kiss is interrupted by a knock at the door. The boss wants to see her. She leaves, and some time later she returns angry and frustrated. She has been fired. Someone important is trying to silence her (a statement made as well by Leticia). Both Karen and Leticia ask who the higher-ups want to protect. [I too am wondering. I can't think of any current character who would be important and powerful enough except AG, and she'd have no reason to want to prevent the story from being told and the human traffickers from being punished. But a new character's appearing seems highly unlikely with only three episodes left. ???]

Lydia tells Diego that "if the only way to get you to continue your studies is to live with your mother, I accept." She also tells him that Valeria was very nice to her and made her feel like part of the family.

Mónica tells Saúl that she and Adolfo have ended their relationship. She talks about what a good person Adolfo is, and how much he did to help her father. Saúl says that every time he sees the staircase, he thinks about Don Lázaro. He and Mónica talk lovingly about Lázaro, and then Saúl talks about his own father and how much he misses him. He tells Mónica, "Some day I would like to be half as good a father as mine and yours." She looks at him lovingly and they kiss. End of Episode.

Juanita: DAMN! Super Hero Cop Karen & FAKE NEWS Leticia both lost their respective jobs like that.

I'm also starting to believe someone higher-up is involved in preventing the human trafficking story from being exposed to the public.

My personal thoughts:

1.) Valeria finally accepting Lydia. Not surprised Diego is still living with his mother & Lopez considering OJ Braulio is on the loose.

2.) The prostitutes get rescued by Saul, Lopez & Co.,

3.) AG still pulling the strings to the very last minute.

4.) Did anyone else see The Slap that AG gave IsaBrat ?

5.) Regina forgetting her pills ? Wonder why ?

6.) Monica & Saul kissing AH! However, Saul still hasn't kicked his AG addiction.

7.) I'm interested to know who's the secret higher-up forcing Super Hero Cop Karen & FAKE NEWS Leticia out of their respective jobs.

8.) Matamoros (Teo 2.0) & Voodoo Buddy Lucio both warning AG not to meet with Braulio alone.

9.) Magarita's hair looks similar to my wife, Alicia's.

10.) The rescued women from earlier now living at the Foundation (looking like it is being remodeled).

11.) Did Daniel AKA AG's Lapdog make an appearance last night ?

LA DOÑA: wow, a lot going on and I was unable to watch the episode. It does seem odd that Leticia and Karen were both fired at this juncture. AG just doesn't carry that kind of weight, or does she? It all seems so improbable. And I'm mighty unhappy about the union of Saul and Monica, even though I suppose they have been building it up from the get-go. AG will most likely suffer a fiery end, because of her villainy. It can't come too soon, in my opinion. This thing is really overstayed its welcome. I think I may hang around for Guerra, since it's in the best time slot for me, and from the bit I saw last night, it seems moderately appealing.

Thank you Juanita for your excellent & comprehensive recap (esp. since I couldn't catch the episode). Will this show end in a wedding? (or 2 or 3?) How many more bodies will Steve have to add to the list (and what a list!)? This plot is so all over the place, There's no future for Braulio, but he's acting like a sort of puppet-master to AG now. And they've rather gratuitously introduced Lucio, the voodoo-buddy as well. This doesn't square with her purported autonomous self-reliance. Maybe Matamoros is the real kingpin LOL!

Great comments, Steve and LXV. The thing that puzzles me most about last night's episode is the sudden introduction of a Powerful Person who has ordered the firing of Leticia and Karen. The firing makes sense, since both women were at the point of seriously damaging the human trafficking operation, Leticia through the broadcast she prepared but wasn't allowed to air, and Karen through her arrest of the baddies at the brothel and the liberation of the women. But it seems very strange to introduce such a theoretically important character with only three episodes left. That's even stranger, it seems to me, than the abrupt introduction of Lucio. And I agree with what you said, LXV, about Lucio's not squaring with AG's purported autonomous self-reliance.

This will probably be my last recap for several months. I've got an immense amount on my plate right now, and that's likely to be true for quite a while. Some of that time, I may well be without access to Telemundo and/or the Internet. So I can't commit to recaps, or even to being able to watch a novela. I still expect to be able to put up the Telemundo y Más pages, and to follow the discussion when I can. (Hmmm...I realize this sounds as if something may be seriously wrong. That's fortunately not the case. It's simply a matter of a somewhat complicated move that's starting to sap all my time and energy. I certainly hope things will be back to what passes for normal in a few months. :-) )

Spectacular recap, Juanita! I have to admit that I have been binge reading books of late, and have only had half an eye on this show, while plowing through my book.

Halimacandy- Yes, I too remembered Francisco's powerful boys' club who were involved in trafficking with him. Doesn't seem like there's enough time to introduce one big baddie behind the plot to keep this whole scandal on the down-low, but the writers might just be trying to point out that in general, the people at the top (of the media, the law, the gov, etc), are deeply involved in human trafficking and will do anything they can to keep their dirty business lucrative and secret.

I had to laugh when I looked up and saw Saul pointing a gun at all the bad guys. If they writers wanted to make Saul into some kind of action hero, why didn't they write him as a cop/detective, instead of a lawyer?

Braulio finally gets whacked! Struck by oncoming vehicle! This was after he slapped Valeria while everyone else including Lydia & Lopez sat there doing nothing.

My personal thoughts:

1.) Super Hero Cop Karen & Jorge come into Saul's & rants about losing her job with the DF Federal Police Station.

2.) FAKE NEWS Leticia is there too.

3.) AG plotting another scheme to the very last minute.

4.) Daniel the Lapdog as usual. I'm hoping he's the one mysteriously pulling the strings getting FAKE NEWS Leticia & Super Hero Cop Karen fired.... Or could it be Matamoros (Teo 2.0).

5.) Voodoo Buddy Lucio might be a factor too considering he's with AG this late in the game.

6.) AG's MIC Drop to Braulio: Lopez is the Baby Daddy of Valeria's daughter. This sends Braulio into a rage & vows to retaliate!

7.) While that was going on, Matamoros (Teo 2.0) & Daniel AKA AG's Lapdog are nearby across the street.

8.) The Good Guys along with the rescued girls at the Foundation plan a big protest on the unsolved murders of their loved ones.

9.) In downtown DF, the protests take place & while that's been going on, IsaBrat & her friends from school show up & greet Lydia & Diego.

10.) FAKE NEWS Leticia brings her friends from the news station & videotape the protests.

11.) Braulio attacks a very pregnant Valeria & slaps her aggressively like a raged animal. Lydia tried to stop him, he pushes her away. The other women jump up on him as he attempted to go after Valeria again.

12.) The women chased Braulio away & he runs into traffic as the oncoming vehicle strikes Braulio: LICKETY SPLAT! He's dead & joins the growing Body Count.

13.) Valeria is in the hospital with Lopez. She's doing Ok.

14.) Super Hero Cop Karen spoke with Saul & Monica.

15.) AG watches the news on Braulio's death.

16.) Diego & Lydia watch video that Braulio sent him, showing AG whacking Daddy Cabral.

Thanks, Steve, for the recap of last night's highlights/lowlights.

I thought the death of Braulio was rather anti-climactic. He and AG never had their showdown. Their furtive tet-a-tet on the corner, where she tried to entice him to go with her to somewhere more private(i.e. somewhere she, Matamoros and Dan could kill him), was unsatisfying since it led nowhere.

While I appreciate the writers trying to say something about the rights of women, I have to say I'm not sure what their message is and that this human trafficking/women's march plot line seems forced, last minute, and rings false.

Can someone explain what happened during the last conversation between La Dona and Braulio.
I think they were talking about money, and Braulio pulls out a slip of paper. Was this some check? Receipt? Safe deposit box number?

My English captions aren't working and my Spanish knowledge is too rudimentary for me to understand what happened during their last conversation.

my home internet isn't working, boo, so here is a short summary from last night I'm posting from the library.

 

La Doña 118

whew!

we start with everyone kissing, looks like Saul and Monica are starting back up after everyone pushed them together back at Saul's to do some paperwork and mom fixed them a romantic dinner, but wait, Karen shows up and Jorge spills on her being fired.

Leticia likewise shows up at Valeria's after her being fired, Lopecito calls Saul, now they need a plan.

Diego and Lydia are heating things up, this is their last night at the tenement before moving in with mom where they will have to be more discreet, Diego gets a call from Valeria and they go to over to Saul's, looks like a protest march is in the works.

Braulio calls AG, he will meet her at the Public Prosecutor's office, hmm, isn't that where the march will be ending?

first Lucio then Matamoros warn AG about meeting Braulio alone, but she's not worried.

next day, AG is looking elegant and has Daniel stop by, first she rags on him for taking Saul away from her, but she will forgive him this once, she wants him to protect her, you will won't you as she bats her eyelashes and hands him a gun, if Braulio tries to hurt me, hmm, is this a setup or what, she seems to have a pretty good record of having others kill for her.

ok the march is on, but no kids, Regina and Isabela join in, Isabela is sweet to Lydia when they meet, Leticia's cameraman shows up to film it, but you'll be fired Leticia warns him, this is more important he says, and Jorge has rallied all the police officers that worked under Karen, kind of a big reunion here, even Adolfo shows, yes AG has used us all Monica says, but wait there are some ugly guys mingling in the crowd making trouble, Monica hanging on Saul's arms keeps it peaceful.

and so AG and Braulio meet, neither knowing of the march, Braulio is wound up tight and can't spot AG's backup (Matamoros and Danny boy in a parked car, Mata prompting Dan to get the gun out and be ready), AG of course is relaxed, she wants to go to another place, away from the Prosecutor's office filled with cops, Braulio has decided to live, he wants AG to put 3 million in a numbered bank account and he'll walk, AG stalls, but wait, here come the protestors.

Dan calls AG and warns of the march, Saul and Monica will see Braulio, AG works on him to go with her, and throws out Valeria and her boyfriend will there too with their baby girl, what? girl? theirs? Braulio wants to know, of course you keep track of the people around you, would probably have used the baby against me if it was mine, he turns and walks away,

or rather he quick steps it to the march where he grabs Valeria by the hair and slaps her to the ground, wow, but is instantly pounced on by a bunch of irate ladies, he barely escapes at a full run, right into the path of a car, crash, bang, bounce, and to the street, Diego runs to him in time to see him die.

I guess Braulio's death puts a cloud over the march, but AG hopes it will still do some good, Lucio throws out Braulio's warning, that if he dies someone will release the video of her confessing to Felipe's death and then killing Rafael, not a chance AG says, that video's worth a lot of money and Braulio would never share it with someone else.

Dan gives AG back the gun, he's not going to be her new Braulio.

the gang's at the police station making statements about Braulio's death.

Diego is shaken by his dad's death, Lydia tries to talk with him, he fiddles with his phone making sure all got home safely but wait, what's this, Braulio's if-you-get-this-I'm-dead message about his meet with AG, and tacked on is the Rafael death video...

 

La Doña

Gobluefan- Braulio decided to live but wanted AG to transfer $3 million into an account right now and handed her a piece of paper with the account number on it, AG keeps stalling and prompts him to go to another place away from the police but when she spills about Valeria's baby that ripped it for him.

AG seemed disappointed that Dan refused to play her game and become Braulio 2.0. I wonder if she'll go on the run with Matamoros and her spiritual guru once the video is released. Matamoros really is THE most loyal character in this tale.
