TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): El Capo, La Querida del Centauro2, & más: Week of May 29, 2017

Welcome to Page #1 (Monday edition) of the Telemundo y Más page, issued twice a week: Mondays at 3:00 PM and Thursdays at 8:00 PM.

Here are the current telenovelas (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):

• 10:30AM-12PM—Corazón Valiente
• 12-2PM—Gonul
• 8-9PM—El Capo
• 9-11PM—La Querida del Centauro2  (repeats 12-2AM except Monday 12-1AM)

Guerra de Ídoles remains relegated to Saturday nights, 9-11PM. All the capítulos can be found on Telemundo's web site.  Folks may certainly discuss the novela here if they wish.

Telemundo has announced that the new season of El Señor de los Cielos will debut on Tuesday, June 20, in the 10 pm (EDT) time slot.

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation.  Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.

By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation

SIN SELOS:

Juanita: when does this TN come back ?

Steve, I'm afraid I haven't the slightest idea. Sorry.

Are you watching any novelas now?

I'm watching UniMas' "LA Candidata".

Likewise. Please, Telemundo, bring us something again like "Bajo el mismo cielo" or even "Eva la trailera."

On the non-narco side, I still think either De pura cepa or El otro lado del muro will be the big novelas. It'll probably get clearer once we actually get cast lists for them, though.

Steve and Juanita: since ESDLC is coming back next month, and I suspect we're getting season four of Senora Acero right after that (a la spring 2016), the earliest we'll probably get a non-narcoverse novela back in the 10pm EST timeslot is probably next December. Unless TM loses its mind, of course, and stuffs Sin senos si hay paraiso S2 in the 9pm timeslot, or busts out the Hugo Chavez novela they promoted and apparently forgot about in the space of a month during the winter.

By the same loose token: I'm assuming Jenni Rivera: mariposa de barrio is taking over the 8pm timeslot when El capo goes, unless its pronto period is longer than usual and it gets the 9pm slot. While this is apparently the version of Jenni's history officially sanctioned by the Rivera clan, if I'm going to watch this it'll be for the casting: Angelica Celaya as Jenni still seems like an odd choice to play her, though with her all dolled up in the current promos she at least has the look down in places, but mainly I'm curious about Gabriel Porras and Rosalinda Rodriguez as her parents. (And a little about Stephanie Arcila as Rosie.)

Anyway...

La querida del Centauro:

My recurring Twitter hashtag joke for this show is #ObsessionTheSeries. Mostly due to Centauro himself, who at this point is increasingly obsessed with possessing Yolanda and having something vaguely resembling a narco happily-ever-after with her--complete with a Teca Martinez-style freakout over her in Monday's episode. But it's not just him; Bianchini was obsessed with tracking down Gerardo and company to exact justice for Mariana's death, though thanks to Lucho's co-worker clueing him in on Mariana's last-minute bank withdrawal before she got killed he's at least starting to have some more questions about the whole thing. And Gerardo of course was utterly obsessed with finding his kids.

Weirdly, though, the side stories are kind of fascinatingly bonkers. Elvira, Centauro's maid, who's married to his abusive asshat henchman Isidro and drawn to the seemingly more sensitive henchman Bob (or John Wick, depending on who you think he resembles more). Leticia the bakery lady, who's now in CYA mode and straight up told her mother she wants to narc on Centauro to save her own neck. The very quiet sub-subplot with Emilio and Dr. "Feelbad" Lemus, who in spite of possessing only one facial expression for his entire life is apparently still somewhat irresistible to Emilio. Gerardo, who has basically been blackmailed into...I think...posing as a vigilante to take out a rival ganglord to the guys who run the vecindad he and his family are camped out in on top of the whole can't-be-with-Ana-because-of-his-kids thing (which in two scenes was done far more sanely, if about as irritatingly, as in five months of Vino del amor). Gerardo's daughter Cristina, who's hiding a pregnancy (courtesy asshat cop Roman) from everybody except Ana.

And, perhaps best of all, there's radio host Nicolas Bayon. He tried to hide evidence regarding Centauro and Mariana in order to milk it for ratings, and when Centauro figured that out all it got him was his sidepiece guy killed (and himself being forced to frame himself for it) while in theory getting to write a biography of Centauro (whom everyone still believes is dead).

So...it's utterly bonkers, in a quiet way. It's too far along now to probably jump into without a playcard, though.
