Enamorandome de Ramón, #5, Aug. 14, 2017: Hortenacious Gets A Flicker While Hearts Afire Get Burned

Here is the recap, courtesy of RGVChick:

[Repeated scene: Juana lashes at Hortensia that she has no right to run her off, but Hortensia can’t wait to tell her granddaughters what Juana is doing here. Hortensia blasts away telling Fabiola and Andrea that they need to run Juana off. Fabiola doesn’t understand why, so Hortensia explains that no one knows what schemes Juana used to bamboozle her father and now she’s setting her eyes on Julio.] Hortensia alerts them to the fact that Julio was there and they didn’t even know it. Juana tries to explain that Julio was only there to see how the girls were doing, but Fabiola questions why Juana didn’t tell them. Juana clarifies that they were still asleep and she didn’t want to wake them. She points out that she only offered Julio a cup of coffee, just as she would when her bosses were alive. After Hortensia chides Juana for running the house as if it were her own and orders her to get her things and leave, Fabiola stands up for Juana and tells Hortensia that they have their differences, but Juana need not leave just because she offered Julio breakfast. Hortensia can’t accept that Fabiola is allowing Juana to run the house as if it were her own, so Fabiola notes that it’s not the first time someone comes to the house without them knowing. Hortensia is chagrined that Juana already has fooled the girls and warns them that they have no idea what Juana is capable of doing to them.

At Antonio’s home, Roxana reveals that she feels so close to Antonio when they care for Diego under the same roof; it makes her feel that they are a family again. When Roxana starts to wonder why she can’t be close to him…Antonio grabs her and gives her a passionate kiss, but then Antonio pushes her away and doesn’t think they should allow themselves to be overtaken by a weak moment. The moment is further interrupted when Diego calls out for his dad.

After Hortensia leaves, Juana reassures the girls that she would never hurt them. Fabiola tells her not to listen to her grandmother, but Juana feels that ever since she inherited the money, everyone thinks badly about her. Fabiola points out that that is why Juana should just let her manage the money, but Juana thinks Fabiola will misuse it and emphasizes that, however she uses the money, it will be for their own good. Andrea comforts Juana by touching her arm.

Hortensia arrives at Virginia’s house complaining that she ran off Juana, but Fabiola and Andrea defended Juana even when they had no clue Julio had been there and had breakfast alone with Juana. Virginia is aghast that Julio was alone with Juana. When Virginia wonders what is wrong with Julio, Hortensia assures her that he will surely hear what she has to say, but Virginia wants her to leave it alone because Julio will only get upset with her. Hortensia questions why Virginia even called her if she is willing to just leave things half done.

Roxana checks Diego’s temperature and sees that it’s down, but still thinks Diego should stay in bed a while longer. When Agustín calls her and asks when they will see each other, they make plans to meet for lunch. When Agustín suggests that he will pick her up, Roxana gives him the excuse that she will be out and about so she will meet him. After she hangs up, Antonio comes in with a tray of food that’s enough for the three of them, but Roxana tells him she can’t stay because she has an appointment; she can leave without a worry since Diego no longer has a fever. Roxana tells Diego they will see each other in a while and leaves.

Jorge is at school and meets up with Sara, a friend, who asks about Andrea. She can’t believe someone would lose their voice just because of a bad news. Jorge tells her Andrea still can’t talk because of the post trauma (PTSD). When Sara asks if she can go see Andrea, Jorge suggests they meet up after classes so they can go together.

Agustín and Roxana are having lunch while Agustín shows her houses in Miami. Roxana can’t believe that they will live in such an extravagant house, so Agustín reassures her that that is why he asked for the transfer. Roxana is impressed and thinks they will live like royalty. When she wonders if Agustín will take her to the Florida Keys, he assures her that, with her, he would go to the ends of the world if she so asks (and she just might end his world).

Hortensia goes to see Julio at his office and immediately questions what he has going with Juana and chides him for not eating with his wife just so that he could go eat with that servant. After Julio wonders who went to gossip, Hortensia tells him that Virginia was crying because of his rejection. When she continues berating him for eating alone with Juana, he clarifies that he did not eat with Juana; she just served him. He only went to ask about her granddaughters, but they were asleep. Hortensia insists that he has no reason to be alone with that woman; Juana is dangerous…she can just imagine what Juana did to Ricardo to get him to leave her the money. Hortensia advises Julio that she will be looking for an attorney who will make sure Juana doesn’t get an opportunity to touch the money. When Julio reminds her that Pedro and Margarita have already said there is nothing that can be done, Hortensia points out that they aren’t the only attorneys in the world; she already knows who can help her.

Porfirio and Margarita drive up and park at the restaurant when they spot Roxana and Agustín who are standing too close for comfort. Margarita comments that it sure looks like Roxana has found herself a lover already.

Jorge and Sara arrive to see Andrea who is very happy to see them. As Sara gives her condolences to Andrea, Juana invites them to stay and eat. Sara asks when Andrea will return to school…she shouldn’t miss any more classes. When Andrea shrugs, Sara points out that she’s mute not deaf. Andrea nods.

Margarita and Porfirio are having lunch when Hortensia calls him to request his professional services to recover the money that was stolen from her granddaughters. When Porfirio sounds clueless, Hortensia asks if Margarita has mentioned anything to him. He tells her she hasn’t while he looks at Margarita who is rolling her eyes. Hortensia then asks when he can meet with her, so Porfirio advises her that he will call her later to set an appointment.

When Hortensia hangs up with Porfirio, Julio wonders what Porfirio said. Hortensia relays that Porfirio knows nothing about the situation. Julio again reminds Hortensia that Pedro assured them that nothing can be done, but Hortensia refuses to let that woman keep the money or to have to ask her for money as if it were a handout…she’d rather be dead (careful what you ask for!).

Margarita and Porfirio are still having lunch as they discuss how Ricardo and Kati left Juana the million dollars. Porfirio doesn’t understand what Hortensia expects him to do. When Margarita explains that her mother wants him to somehow change the beneficiary to Fabiola, Andrea, or even herself (Hortensia), Porfirio states that nothing can be done, but Margarita already knows this. After Porfirio questions why Ricardo would leave Juana as the beneficiary, Margarita assumes it’s because Ricardo trusted Juana more than anyone in the family to do the right thing. Margarita agrees with Ricardo’s decision since no one knows and loves Fabiola and Andrea as much as Juana does.

As they are eating, Fabiola asks Andrea when she plans to return to school. Andrea writes ‘tomorrow’ but Fabiola reminds her that she has some medical tests the next day. When Andrea makes faces at the thought of going for the tests, Jorge mocks her for being afraid of shots. He then gets a call from his mother who needs his help, so he leaves, but Sara stays. Fabiola notices how Sara kept looking at Jorge and teases her about liking him. Sara bashfully admits she does like Jorge…he soooo nice and handsome! She wants Fabiola to ask Jorge how he feels about her, but Fabiola doesn’t really think she could.
Osvaldo is at school as another student walks up to him. He tells the student that he has the economics test, but the student also wants the test for the finance class. Osvaldo assures the student that he has tests for other classes as well. Osvaldo gives him the USB and reminds the student he needs to hand over the money. When the student walks away, Osvaldo’s girlfriend approaches and tells him she saw that he got paid, so where is he going to take her. Osvaldo responds, “Wherever you want.”

Julio is upset that Virginia went crying to her mother, but Virginia is even more upset that he went to have breakfast with the servant. Julio thinks she is exaggerating and justifies that there is nothing wrong with having breakfast at his brother’s house; he wonders what she is insinuating and wants her to stop inventing things that are just not so. Julio then gives Virginia the tax statements that she needs to pay that day, but Virginia asks if he can pay them for her...she will give him a check. This pleases Julio who smirks and thinks about how he can pay part of the taxes and use the rest to go play roulette.

Osvaldo is with his girlfriend at her house since it is a better place for them to be together; and they can order in pizza or whatever. When he asks if her mother will interrupt, the girlfriend assures him that when her mother goes out gambling she loses track of time and is usually out all night playing…she has a thick wallet and likes to throw away her money. As the girlfriend walks off, Osvaldo looks around and sees a picture. As he looks at it (which happens to be Mystery Blonde), he asks his girlfriend if that is her mother. After the girlfriend confirms that is her mother, Osvaldo comments that she is very pretty and wants to know how old she is, but the girlfriend questions why that would matter. When they both go sit on the couch and the girlfriend says she doesn’t want to talk about her mother, they start to make out.

Julio is at the casino and walks to the roulette table. As he sits next to Mystery Blonde, she wins the round, Mystery Blonde yells out, “YAY.” Julio comments about her good fortune; and they both place another bet.

Ramón holds a limping Sofia as they walk along the sidewalk. They approach a man to ask for a hotel and get directions. As they start walking, Ramón looks around to make sure no one is watching or following them.

Luisa drops by to see how things are going for Juana. She still wonders how Juana can still be working there now that she has all that money. When Luisa asks if Juana has already gotten the money and Juana responds she hasn’t, Luisa wonders what she and the girls are living off of. Juana confides that she is using some money her bosses left her before they left on their trip and some of her own savings. Luisa thinks Juana should talk to Don Antonio and Don Julio so that they can help out with finances until she receives the money; then she can repay them. Juana is dismayed with Luisa’s comment and explains that she does not want them to think that she is taking advantage of them. Luisa would hate to be in Juana’s shoes…well, only until she receives the money.

Ramón and Sofía enter the hotel room. Ramón wants to rest for the day and tomorrow they can hit the road again. When Sofía worries that they have spent almost all of their money on food, medication for her foot, and the hotel, Ramón assures her that he will get up early in the morning and look for a quick job. He offers to take care of her foot, but she would rather take a shower first. Ramón thinks that’s a really good idea and takes off his shirt. Sofía points out that she mentioned the shower first, but Ramón thinks there should be enough room in the shower for the both of them. They start kissing veeery passionately.

Roxana gets home with Agustin when Antonio calls to tell her that Diego is asking for her and wonders if she will be by soon. After she responds that she will go over soon and hangs up, Agustin is disappointed because he thought they would be spending the night together, but offers to take her. When Roxana turns him down saying that she has her car, Agustin wonders if she just doesn’t want to be seen with him. Roxana reminds him that she just doesn’t want rumors to fly since all of Antonio’s family lives in the same building; but she promises to repay him the supper…with interest. She kisses him before leaving.

Sofía and Ramón are out of the shower and in bed (so much for resting!). When Sofía asks what they will do in Mexico, Ramón explains that he will look for his mother so he can borrow some money; then he will look for work. Sofía also wants to look for work. Ramón thinks it’s a good idea; that way they can buy a house for the kids…he likes large families. When Sofia asks how many kids he would want to have, Ramón answers that he wants at least 7…5 boys and 2 girls. They kiss as Ramon tells her he is crazy about her.

As Roxana arrives, she apologizes to Antonio for taking long. When Antonio tells her Diego is asleep and that he is the one that has been waiting for her, he pulls her closer and asks her to spend the night. As Roxana starts to say that she was not expecting to, Antonio kisses her passionately…and she doesn’t pull away, but they are interrupted by Diego who has woken up and wants to hear a bedtime story. Roxana offers to tell Diego a story and as they start to walk away, she looks back and smiles at Antonio.

Virginia is on her couch nodding off when Osvaldo arrives. When she scolds him for not answering his cellphone, Osvaldo tells her he had been at the library (researching his girlfriend?). Virginia doesn’t buy it since it’s such a late hour and informs Osvaldo that his father is not there yet either. Osvaldo figures that’s why she’s in a bad mood and tells her to let it out on his dad, not him. When Osvaldo walks away, she tries to call Julio, but gets the ‘out of service are’ message.” She’s rolls her eyes and shakes her head in disgust.

Back at the casino, Mystery Blonde comments on Julio’s luck since he has been winning. When she invites him to try his hand at poker at a friend’s private game, Julio seems quite interested; so she goes off to ask her friend if he can participate.

The Next Morning

Ramón is up and dressed as Sofía wakes up. He goes to give her a kiss and tells her he is going out to look for work. He’ll probably take a while so she shouldn’t get antsy. Sofía gives him the earrings to sell, but Ramón doesn’t want to take them because they belonged to her mother. When Sofía insists, Ramón accepts them, but tells her he is only taking them for good luck, not to sell. She sends him off with a few more kisses.

The maid brings Rosendo his breakfast, but he isn’t hungry; he just wants coffee. Rosendo receives a call from Jacinto who tells him that Ramón and Sofía spent the night in a little town near Piracate (or something like that). Rosendo orders him not to rest until he finds his daughter; and when he does find them, he needs to annihilate Ramón in front of Sofía so that she can know that she shouldn’t mess with him.

Antonio and Roxana wake up cuddled together. Antonio tells her he enjoys waking up with her in his arms. When Roxana tells him she missed him, he holds her closer and tells her how much he likes the way her skin smells. They share some more kisses.

Luisa and Dalia are having breakfast as Luisa complains that Juana shouldn’t have to pay from her own pocket for Fabiola’s and Andrea’s household costs. She criticizes that with so many insults and scoldings, the family doesn’t even consider that the girls have to eat…such dignified people! Dalia wonders why Juana doesn’t ask for money from Antonio…the shop is doing well and Ricardo did own half of it, so they could give Juana money from there. When Dalia asks if Juana is going to continue as a servant, Luisa frets that no one can change Juana from thinking that the money is not hers. Dahlia thinks Juana should just use the money to get herself an apartment with a pool so Juana can take them with her.

Margarita sees that that table is set and asks Hortensia is she is expecting a visitor. Hortensia affirms that Porfirio will be coming for a breakfast meeting and invites her to join them. Margarita accepts, but reminds Hortensia that she should already know that nothing can be done. She thinks Porfirio will say the same, but Hortensia doubts it because Porfirio is very capable and will find a way to make sure the money will end up in the rightful hands.

Antonio offers Roxana some of his clothes so she can change and be comfortable; he also suggests that after breakfast, they take Diego out to the park or zoo, but Roxana turns down the offer saying that she has some appointments to show some homes. When she gets up to leave, Antonio asks her if she isn’t going to wait until Diego wakes up, but Roxana insists that she has her appointments scheduled. After Antonio wonders if what happened during that night didn’t mean anything to her, Roxana dismisses it by telling him that it’s not that…she loves him and feels good being with him. She loved spending the night together, but she’s afraid of rushing into anything; she asks Antonio not to pressure her. Roxana thinks it best that Diego not find out that she spent the night so he won’t get his hopes up. Antonio looks disappointed and tells her he is the one getting his hopes up (among other things!).

Margarita arrives at Virginia’s house looking for Julio because her mother wants him present at a breakfast meeting with Porfirio, but Virginia tells her that Julio left early. When Margarita leaves, Virginia looks at her phone and mutters, “Where the he** are you, Julio?”

Sofía is getting dressed when there is a knock at the door. When she opens the door (which she should have known better since her father’s goons are after them), Jacinto storms in and asks her where her friend is. When Sofía tells them he’s not there, Jacinto grabs her and she starts yelling out for HEEELP!!

Fabiola, Andrea and Juana arrive home from the doctor’s office. After Fabiola starts teasing Andrea for getting hysterical when she saw the shots, she tells Andrea that she has never been afraid of shots. Juana looks surprised and mockingly reminds Fabiola that she had a fit and ran out when they gave her a shot for bronchitis. Fabiola points out that those shots hurt and she was very young, but Juana reminds her that she was eighteen years old. The mood turns serious when Juana suggests that it’s time they go through their parents clothes to see what can be given away. She mentions that some of the things can be taken to a nunnery close by that helps older folks who are needy. Fabiola sadly agrees that there are some things that will be of no use, but there are others they do want to keep. Juana concurs that they should choose what to keep; and, if they are not ready, it is definitely their right to wait until later.

Jacinto calls Rosendo to let him know they have his daughter, but Ramón is not with her. After he hangs up, Sofía asks what her father said so Jacinto tells Sofía she should know what her father expects. He calls his buddies to be on the lookout for Ramon and they should…before he finishes his sentence, Sofía grabs the phone. Jacinto demands to know why Sofía cares so much; he tells her that if he doesn’t “take care of” Ramón, he will be the one to be in big trouble. Sofía begs Jacinto to not hurt or kill Ramón because he is not guilty of anything, but Jacinto reminds her that her father gave her a chance and all she did was run away and go look for Ramón.

Porfirio arrives at Hortencia’s home with some flowers. While Margarita goes to look for a vase, Hortencia invites him to sit at the table where breakfast has been served. Once seated, Hortencia advises him that they should eat before they talk because everyone knows it’s not good to have discussions on an empty stomach. She then puts the pressure on by telling Porfirio that she is sure he can resolve their problem.

Sofía, desperate to find a way to protect Ramón, offers Jacinto a deal: he can tell her father that he did away Ramón as planned, but actually let Ramón go; and she will pay him well (50,000 pesos). She thinks that when her father sees that she has returned, he will calm down. When Jacinto mentions his buddies, Sofía assures him that she will give him enough money for all of them. Jacinto still worries that if Ramón comes after her, Rosendo will let him have it for not following orders. After Sofía tells him she will convince Ramón not to look for her, Jacinto finally agrees, but warns Sofía if Ramón doesn’t listen, then he will have to kill him right then and there.

Fabiola and Andrea are in their parent’s room going through some things. Fabiola picks up a picture remembering perfectly when they took the photo. Juana, who is standing by the door, assures Fabiola that wherever her parents are, they are still close by. As Andrea picks up a bracelet and admires it, Fabiola asks her if she wants to keep it; Andrea nods. Fabiola wants her mother’s scarves so Andrea picks up a small box. As Fabiola takes out a scarf and smells it, she comments that it still smells like her mom.

Jacinto orders his goons to stay at the hotel and keep an eye out for Ramón while he goes to look for Ramón in town. As he helps Sofía into the truck, he thinks that if Ramón went looking for a job, he is probably close to the plaza. He warns Sofía that if she plays dirty, he won’t answer for what he does.

Hortencia asks Porfirio if Margarita has mentioned the predicament her son caused by leaving his money to the servant. When Porfirio affirms she did, Hortencia demands that he find a way to return the money to her granddaughters. Porfirio tries to explain what she has already been told—such a legal document cannot be changed. Hortencia refuses to listen (so what else is new?) and tells him that he has the capacity and intelligence to do as she asks. Porfirio counters that it is not a question of capability or intelligence…when a life insurance policy is purchased, it is a contract between the insured and the insurer. When the insured dies, the insurer is obligated to pay the stipulated sum to the named beneficiary. Hortencia insists that it is an injustice that her granddaughters get no money while the servant does. Porfirio warns her that it will take much time and money because it is very difficult not to appropriate the money to the beneficiary (wrong way to put it, Porfirio!). Hortencia quickly catches onto the word “difficult” and points out that then it is not impossible. When Porfirio reiterates that it’s probably a waste of time and money, Hortencio affirms that she does not care…she just wants what’s right…and a favorable result.

Ramón is on a sidewalk hauling dirt in a wheelbarrow. As Jacinto and Sofía spot him sweeping, they stay back so Ramón won’t see them. Jacinto tells Sofía it’s time to do what they came for while an unsuspecting Ramón tells the man that he is finished and gets paid. As Ramón starts walking away, Sofía calls out to him. When Ramón asks her what she is doing there, Sofía turns away from him and tells him they need to talk. When she tells him they cannot continue like this, Ramón assures her that he can get more money, but Sofía insists it’s not about the money. She has done some thinking and wonders what he has to offer her…he can’t provide what she is used to having. Ramón is taken aback by what she is saying. Sofía continues to explain that she has also thought about how Timoteo swore to her father that the other girl lied about the child being his. She was very angry when the girl showed up at the church, but she still loves Timoteo; so she wants to give Timoteo another opportunity. Ramón is dismayed that she could be speaking with such ease. Sofía points out that she never mentioned that their relationship was a serious one. Ramón, still in disbelief, questions why she is doing this if he fell in love with her and believed in her. He didn’t think she was that good at pretending. Sofía assures him that it’s best that he leave her for his own good and tells him not to look for her. She also lies that she has already called her father; and he has sent someone for her. She warns him that if he is found with her, he knows what to expect. When Ramón accuses her of sounding like her father’s people, Sofía tells him that is who she is and suggests he take his 100 pesos and follow his own path. She digs the dagger deeper when she tells him that he needs much more to have a woman like her and walks away. Ramón is devastated and cries inconsolably as he pounds on the iron gate.

Thank you, RGVChick, very thorough.

This episode Fabiola gained some points. She was reasonable and defended Juana against Hortensia. She is loving and supportive of her little sister.

Andrea and Jorge are very close. They are definitely best friends. And that look that Andrea gave to Sara when she heard that Sara likes Jorge... Andrea did not like at all the idea of somebody interested in Jorge.

Roxana is playing with fire having two men at the same time. Does she think she can keep it up?

Things are not looking good for Virginia. The husband ignores her when he is not annoyed with her, "borrows" her money to gamble, her son sells test answers in college.

"When she wonders if Agustín will take her to the horse races" I think she said "Los cayos" - that was a new word for me. I looked it up, it means keys, like in Florida keys, small islands.

Lucio, thanks for clarifying about the "cayos." I'll have that corrected.

I agree that Andrea and Jorge are very close...and that Sara seemed somewhat perturbed by what Sara said. I know Jorge is Julio's and Virginia's son, but could he be an adopted son? He looks completely different from the rest of the family...IMO.

I really don;t blame Julio for distancing himself from Virginia...she's a complainer and going to his mother crying was totally uncalled for. Does she really think that's the way to get back a man's interest?

Hortenacious Gets A Flicker While Hearts Afire Get Burned. What an excellent title Rgv Chick!

Carefullly crafted and amazing summary.

“…he assures her that, with her, he would go to the ends of the world if she so asks (and she just might end his world” blew me away.

“Antonio looks disappointed and tells her he is the one getting his hopes up (among other things!)” was great.

I did not expect things to end the way they did between Sofia and Ramon. Both actors were great, but Jose Ron perfectly conveyed his angst and heartbreak. I wanted Sofia to admit her words were lies, but she was far too convincing for that to ever occur to Ramon. I give her credit for coming up with the solution, as much as it devastated her. I sense Sofia is not gone for good and after watching their amazing chemistry am wondering how Fabiola will even begin to be able to compete!
“Antonio grabs her and gives her a passionate kiss”. Good heavens girl, that kiss wasn’t enough for you? My screen wasn’t the only thing melting! Man is hawt. I think Roxana is a loving mother and it is a shame she will forgo Antonio for material possessions that Augustin can give her.

Virginia is aghast that Julio was alone with Juana. OMG! What could possibly come next?? Conversation? Color me horrified :) 

So Osvaldo’s mother is the mystery blonde…I suspect Julio will be cozying up to her in no time, especially as she seems to have unlimited funds.

I hope that Andrea will be diagnosed and be able to speak shortly. I don't feel I have much of a sense of who she and Fabiola are. I'm giving Fab the benefit of the doubt in view of the deaths but whiny is not attractive and not cool. I don't like that she defends Juana one minute and then backs off the next. Does she really think Juana doesn't have their best interests at heart?

I am really enjoying this.

Rgv Chick, thank you again for the amazing recap. It and you are truly appreciated!

Diana

Lucio, Roxana puzzles me. I'm not sure what she is thinking - or even if she is thinking at all!

In spite of her behavior, she doesn't quite seem to be the typical cold, calculating cheater. I don't even like using that word for her, but it's the truth!

She obviously loves her son. While she cares for her husband, the lure of money and property are overcoming loyalty.

She is leading Antonio on. Now that Margarita has seen her with Augustin, word is bound to get back to him. I do think Antonio is not too forgiving and I hope he doesn't retaliate by trying to keep Roxana from her child.

Diana

Diana, your very welcome!

I'm sure you meant to say that Osvaldo's girlfriend's mother is the Mystery Blonde...wish they had given us a name.

"I don't feel I have much of a sense of who she and Fabiola are. I'm giving Fab the benefit of the doubt in view of the deaths but whiny is not attractive and not cool." ITA...I sure hopeo their true characters are revealed soon...I'm also giving them the benefit of the doubt since they just lost their parents and that is devastating...they can't really be expected to behave as they normally would.

Yes, of course, I did mean Osvaldo's girlfriend's mother is the blonde. Thank you.

I think Fab has a long uphill climb to match anything near to the intensity of Ramon and Sofia's fire. I suspect she will be up to the challenge :)

Diana

Diana, does Fabiola really think Juana doesn't have their best interests at heart? I think she doesn't. After a lifetime of caring for the girls and knowing who she is, how could she doubt Juana. Her behavior is directed to pressure Juana to give the money to her. Because she thinks it is not fair and it is her right to control the money. Like a child she comes up with silly scenarios of how Juana will take their money, has tantrums, and by doing so just confirms her immaturity.

RVG Chick: Maraming Salamat po :)

Thank you so much, RGV! Excellent work :) And a big belated thank you to Cynthia on Friday too! You gals are afire.

I think the main point of this story, as far as I see it, is the evil that is money. We don't really know any of the characters too well yet but we know that most of them covet money, in some way or another, and even use it to lie.

Fabiola and Andrea trust Juana but look at how distrusting Fabiola is of Juana after the life insurance policy.

Julio and Francisco both want the money for their own purposes and Sofia even used money to break up with Ramon.

Hortensia is definitely the worst as she thinks everyone will do anything to take the money away. She even thinks her children are purposing blocking her efforts to get the money back. Wow.

The sooner they stop fighting for money the happier they will all be.

Roxana is an enigma. She wants adventure, as many have stated, but she also craves that family life, which she walked away from. I love that most of the Medina family lives in the same building, looking forward to all that mess it will cause.

Btw, fun tidbit, if any of you saw Quiero Amarte, Diego Amozurrutia shared credits with Marlene Kalb, who plays Osvaldo's girlfriend, Susana. Osvaldo is Diego's brother. Go figure lol

Lucio, I think Fab is going to have to work harder to win me over than she does Ramon! Only kidding. Well, sort of. I am not impressed thus far. Trying to be optimistic but not heartened by what I've seen.

So, what's with Juana's pigtails? They are not going to make beautiful Marisol wear them the entire series, are they?

Both you and Alfredo have noted the pervasive money theme.

I always roll my eyes when folks say "I don't worry about money". If that is the case, you have it. Why worry about something you have? The problem is when you don't have it and need it. Almost as troubling is when you covet it even though you have enough. Such is the case with some of our greedy characters here.

And I don't hate Roxana. I'm mildly miffed but she really doesn't seem like a bad person does she? She just seems overly impressed with what money can buy. And sadly, she seems willing to sacrifice her family to get there.

Alfredo and Steve, you are most welcome...Ikinagagalak ko (my pleasure)

and Alfredo, thanks for the name of Osvaldo's girlfriend!

Diana. wouldn't it have been funny if Juana wore her pigtails a la Luisa on DV...hehe

Ahhh Luisa...One of my favs! Hmmm...

I am so appreciative of the recaps!!!

There were a few others here initially - where are you Urban and Carvivlie?

Diana

I'm here Diana!!!! It took me the weekend to catch up.

Thanks RVGChick for the stellar recap!

I'm like most of you in regards to Roxana. She doesn't seem malicious but she also has no qualms about sleeping and playing with both men. Both men seem like good guys. They deserve better than her.

I may be mistaken but wasn't casino blondie talking to some guy a few episodes ago while watching Julio? I think the whole poker game is a setup to split Julio with his money. I'm sure blondie will get a kickback.

I don't like Virginia but I do feel sorry for her. Her husband is gambling away their money, ignores her and then her son Osvaldo is a jerk. Jorge must be adopted because he is too nice for this family. I am surprised Virginia wasn't smart enough to catch on to Julio's plan with Juana.

Poor Sofia! She really did save Ramon but poor guy is going to be heartbroken for a while. I hate that the promos show him with Fab. Dashes our hopes of a Sofia reunion end game.

The girls need to leave Juana alone about her money. The fact that she is even talking about helping them is enough. They should be putting their energies towards learning about their half of the shop business and how to invest the money from the airline.

You'er welcome, Carvivlie!

I completely agree with you about Jorge. I Do hope he is adopted, I think he and Andrea would make a great pairing.

I also think you're right about MysBlonde...she is definitely up to no good...she's been hawking Julio for quite a while. And, yes, in a previous episode she was with an white-haired, older balding man. What's weird about that previous scene is that when they show a faraway shot of the table, there is a man between MysBlonde and Julio, and on the left side of MysBlonde, there was another casino dealer. Yet, when Julio leaves, they show MysBlonde with the older man very close to her left side; and it looks like he summons her to go after Julio ...probably one of those beanie moments...

"Jorge must be adopted because he is too nice for this family". Amen Carvivlie. Pierre Louis is a sweetheart. He was a favorite of those of us who watched de que te quiero, te quiero and he is playing another likeable character here as well.

You are right that the mystery blonde was in at least one (perhaps more) earlier gambling scenes. My initial thought she was a grifter, but Rgv noted Susana said her mother (the blonde in the picture) had a lot of money, so I was likely off.

You are much kinder regarding Virginia than I. To me she just seems to be a jealous, unhappy woman. Even if Julio were to divulge his plans, Virginia would likely put a stop to it simply from a jealousy perspective.

I am afraid Sofia's father is going to force her to marry her despicable father to be boyfriend. My heart goes out to her.

Diana, I'm giving Virginia the benefit of the doubt based off what we know now. She has stayed with her gambling husband, thinking he has changed but still doesn't trust him---not even with the maid. Her son Osvaldo treats her like dirt. I'm thinking her bad attitude is from years of dealing with it and this is what she has been brought to. My opinion could completely change based on what happens next.

Thanks for the great recap RGV Chick,

I am just joining this patio, finally caught up with the episodes last night.
I have been reading some of the comments, and it seems to me that I may be alone in this but. How long have Ramon and Sofia been together? doesn't seem like much and Ramon is taking this break-up way toooo serious. I get it Sofia has spunk, and it was love at first boink, but give me a break he is way tooooo devastated. You just met the girl dude. Bring it down a notch.

Welcome here Sandie!

We are small in numbers but growing - happy you have joined us.

Ramon was the limo driver when Sofia ran out of the church on her wedding day. He whisked her away and into his heart. So they've only been together for the lifespan of what's occurred so far.

It was instantaneous, combustible chemistry. I understand and respect what you said and normally, I might very well have agreed with you! :) That said, these two actors made it seem totally believable! There is an old Tavares song "It only takes a minute girl" (to fall in love). And that is what happened here. If her father hadn't discovered her, I really do think Ramon and Sofia might have lived happily ever after. I have always tried to maintain my belief that love can happen as quickly as you can snap your fingers.

Diana

You're welcome Sandie...and WELCOME!! Glad to see the patio is growing :-)

You're not alone in being skeptical about Ramon's extreme reaction to the break-up, but I'm wondering if he's crying out of sadness, disappointment or anger...or a combination of everything.

Diana, I agree the the chemistry between these too is significant. I do hope Fabiola has what it takes to have us rooting for her very soon.

Sofia told Ramon he would never have the money for a girl like her. I wonder once he finds out his mom has a million coming to her if he will try to get some in order to win her back.

Carvivlie, " if he will try to get some in order to win her back." Do you really think he would? Or would he think that she would just return for the money and not him...that's what I would think. The other question is: would Juana give him any of the money that she so vehemently considers to belong to the girls?

Good question.

I don't think Ramon will want Sofia back period. He's been emotionally devastated and not likely to seek her out. The exception might be if he finds the truth out, which seems unlikely as Sofia is not in the opening credits.

Rgv Chick, I agree that Juana isn't giving a penny of that money to anyone else except the girls.

Diana

Thanks Alfredo.Ramon should leave sofy
And be on His way. That would have been long And drown out.If they're supposed to be together then they will be.

Juana should learn to talk out of earshot. Now fabiola has just misheard
Everything. That will just add more fuel to hortensia's misfire.

When is the funny gonna start?

So no more novelas on Hulu and you have to have cable to watch them on the Univision site. This is awful!
