La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo (LDVDEC) #71 (Part 1) 8.17.17: All in the Family

Or Barfest Party Part 1 or Saving All My Love for My Brother

Memories are in italics.

Ryan sees someone point a gun at Danilo and drags him down with him. Estela runs away as soon as she hears the gunshot (like the rat she is) as Danilo looks over the hedge and curses his luck. El Sagrado’s man manages to get away in the shuffle.

Regia and Tadeo continue their concert as all their friends keep dancing. Once they’ve finished, Regia announces that they will take a break but come back soon. They walk off stage as the audience continues to dance.

Ryan chases after the man that shot at Danilo but runs into the DEA agents. They try and stop him but Ryan tells them that there is an armed man in the concert.

In the meantime, Jimmy grabs the two rifles from the instrument cases and goes on stage. He announces that “America will be white again” and begins to fire. As the crowd runs away, he manages to shoot two stagehands as the DEA agents surround him. Rosario and Paloma manage to get to safety, as does Leticia and her children. Steve, incredulous, watches from the audience but is dragged away by Genesis as Laura hides behind the stage. Luisa watches from another part of the stage as the DEA agents shoot Jimmy in the chest. As Jimmy drags himself across the stage, Estela comes up behind Regia and hits her in the head with the butt of her gun. As Laura tries to see if Rosario and Paloma are okay, Estela drags her away. Jimmy’s friend comes out and faces the DEA agents but gets shot in the process and goes down.

Estela drags Laura into one of the rooms in Los Primos and warns her to calm down or she will hit her again. She then warns Laura to not try and stop her because she will leave with Ryan though Laura reminds her that everyone will know, sooner or later, that she killed Pedro Carrillo. Estela thinks she shouldn’t say anything as Laura stole her identity and its time she give it back because there is only one Estela. As Estela goes to shoot, Danilo appears and demands she lower the weapon or he will shoot her.

Morgana hears the news about the shootout on the news. The reporter reports them that if Regional Music had a bad reputation; it will only get worse from there.

Jimmy gets up and announces that this is their land but stops when he sees Steve, who has broken down in tears. As Jimmy looks at him, the DEA agents shoot Jimmy dead and manage to hit Luisa in the shoulder. Genesis comes and grabs Steve’s hand as he cries.

From behind the stage, and having seen the massacre that just took place, the remaining Sagrado henchmen decide to leave.

Estela asks Danilo to let him shoot Laura but Danilo tells her that Regia may be pregnant with her baby and, either way, Laura is excellent for his money laundering business. Estela argues that he only likes her, and that is why he wants to save her, but Laura will never love him because he had to drug and rape her to be man enough to love her. Danilo tells her to shut up but Estela screams that the baby may not even be his. In fact, Morgana already tried to kill it by giving her an abortion concoction in her tea and she may do the same, as the baby may be Ryan’s. Laura is shocked and Estela tells her that she would do make sure to kill her baby as Morgana was too stupid and Leticia ended up drinking the poisoned tea. Laura looks at Danilo, who explains that he tried to stop Morgana but couldn’t.

In another room, Tadeo tries to calm down Maria and Leticia. They worry about Paloma but Tadeo asks them to be calm for the time being.

Mercy calls for her nurse, who is surprised that Mercy can finally move. As she goes to tell the doctor, Joe arrives and she tells her the news. Joe goes to Mercy, happy to see her getting better.

Everyone else, including Ryan and Paloma, arrive at the same room where Tadeo is and asks about Laura. Ryan offers to go and find her as Tadeo tries to calm everyone down.

Laura calls Estela a murderer and Danilo agrees and chides her for killing even her more loyal man. Estela knows she’s talking about Asdrubal but Danilo tells her that he died without telling him what he knew about her. Just then, they hear sirens and Estela announces that the police are there for Ryan and only she can save him. Danilo suggests she take Ryan and run and leave he and Laura to their own devices. He asks that they forgive and forget but Estela shoot his gun out his hand. At this, Danilo attacks her and Estela ends up shooting herself in the leg during the shuffle. She manages to regain control of the gun and points it at Laura, who is trying to run away. Ryan arrives and stands in the way as Danilo flees through another door. Ryan demands to know if she will shoot him and walks toward her. Estela hesitates but Ryan walks closer still and knocks the gun out her hand as the DEA arrives and asks him to freeze. Ryan drops the gun as Estela looks on.

Weeks later, the same Univision reporter tells the audience that the massacre at Los Primos was the doing of two rival gangs, thus proving how close regional music is to organized crime. He then reports that an American citizen, Jimmy, even participated in the massacre and was killed in the crossfire.

Laura, who was listening to the news on her laptop with Rosario, slams it closed and shakes her head at the media’s manipulation of information. Just then, Ryan arrives and Laura asks him how he’s doing. Ryan explains that he can be arrested at any moment for trying to kill Estela and for money laundering charges, just like Danilo. Laura thinks Danilo should tell the truth but Ryan reminds her that he has disappeared. She argues that his lawyers will find a solution but Ryan is unsure; all he can do is bid their time now that he’s out on bail though the judge will decide how he spends his time during the investigation, either at home or in jail. Estela can also say the truth though and Laura vows to make her talk.

In her apartment, Estela is sitting down, cursing her situation as her Blond bodyguard (Chula?) talks to the doctor about her condition and medicine. He then leaves and Chula announces that the front of her house is full or reporters but Estela prefers to make them wait, as she has nothing to say. Chula warns her that Danilo can still appear and tell the police that Estela committed perjury but she thinks he’s hiding in a sewer like the rat he is. She then asks Chula if she read the news and Chula explains that the reporters stated the Cabrera brothers were fighting for control of Furia and Estela got in the way and ended up hurt. Estela laughs about the fact that Regia saw everything and ran. Chula asks if she plans on letting Ryan go but Estela shakes her head and tells her that she needs another plan to keep Ryan at her side.

Laura, now revealed to be sporting a rather large baby bump, tells Ryan that she doesn’t want to move to another state but Ryan thinks it would be best to avoid the fiasco that their lives have become. Either way, she is free of any money laundering charges and can leave but Laura thinks she should be at his side, supporting him, especially now that they have cleared any doubts between them. She now understands that he was only playing Estela to find out the truth and Ryan admits that he always suspected the truth. Laura reiterates that they will be free of this and asks about Danilo. Ryan explains that he hasn’t appeared but, because of the DEA investigation, he and none of his associates can leave the country.  If he tries, he already has Chavalin helping him and Laura smiles before she kisses Ryan, who kisses her back, deeply. Rosario then comes and interrupts them (at the worst time) before apologizing. Laura smiles and tells Ryan that they are going to see Mercy while he meets with his lawyer. Laura reminds him that she has to meet her sponsor afterward and then Ryan kisses her goodbye. Once alone with Rosario, Laura can’t help but smile and Rosario teases her.

In an abandoned building, Horacio tells Danilo that he is worried, especially after he found out about all the men El Sagrado killed (and he will surely kill them too). Danilo suggests he leave and stop crying like a little girl but Horacio reminds him that all his documents are at the Furia office though the DEA might have already confiscated everything. Danilo yells for him to figure it out but warns him to not say where he is or he will suffer the consequences. He then points a gun at Horacio, who points another at him, but then they both drop them and Horacio leaves.

Laura arrives at the hospital with Rosario and met Joe, who tells them that Mercy’s condition is slowly improving though her current condition helped her evade arrest because Danilo took advantage of Mercy’s self medication practices. Luisa then acts about his case and Joe explains that Ryan’s case will determine his as he reported to Ryan. Laura nods and asks when he will turn in the knife. Joe asks them to be patient, as they have to get out of one first to get into another. Rosario agrees and Joe bids them goodbye, as he wants to see Mercy.

Chavalin meets with an associate in the park and advises him to stop falsifying documents or he will get in trouble. His associate explains that he doesn’t know what else to do and then chides Chavalin, as he’s there to ask him for a favor. Chavalin nods and the associate tells him that he met with a guy that morning who asked for various documents and warned him to have them ready by the afternoon or he would suffer the consequences of El Dorado. Chavalin is sure that it was Danilo and the associate reveals that the man also gave him an address to deliver the documents to. Chavalin asks him for it, ASAP.

Mercy, who has regained the ability to talk, thanks Joe for everything. He tells him it was his pleasure and he’s glad to see how much better she is; she will be home again soon. He then tells her that she is cleared of all charges and he’s sure Ryan will be too. She nods and wishes him all the happiness in the world. He gets close, grabs her hands, and bids her goodbye. As he leaves, Laura arrives.

In the hallway, Joe admits that he couldn’t tell Mercy that he located her baby, especially now that the man is dead and they won’t be able to prove anything. Rosario asks him who the baby was and Joe reveals it was Asdrubal, Estela’s right hand man. He then takes out the necklace and hands it to Rosario before explaining that Mercy gave her baby the same chain and that is how he knew. When he’s left, Laura comes and Rosario tells her the whole story.

In Tijuana, El Sagrado asks Morgana about Dangle’s whereabouts but she tells him she doesn’t know. He asks her what she does on the iPad for so long and Morgana explains that she talks to her sister through it as El Sagrado took her phone. He wheels himself behind her and announces that he will give her everything she wants, soon, and prelaunch her career, all the while staring at her booty. Once he’s left, Morgana messages Danilo.

Danilo receives the message in his cell phone and explains that he’s hiding in a sewer from the police and her boyfriend. When Morgana suggests he turn himself in, Danilo tells her he won’t, but he needs her help. Morgana tells him that she will only help if he takes her with him so they can go to her sister’s house. Danilo reminds her that he needs new documents to cross the border and the money Estela threw in her show is in his hotel in the boots Sagrado gave him. He instructs her to retrieve the money and then they can leave. Once he’s put down his phone, Danilo practices his shooting technique.

Rosario tells Laura the whole mystery baby story but Laura is shocked that it could be Asdrubal, especially because he would’ve been Ryan’s brother, but Rosario thinks it makes sense. Laura remembers when Asdrubal told them that Ryan would pay for taking everything away form him and she assumes he meant Mercy’s love. Rosario thinks Mercy should have the necklace, as it would help her as much as it helped Rosario, though Laura thinks Joe should give it to her. Rosario thinks Joe doesn’t have the stomach for it right now and Laura suggests she think about it before saying anything. Luisa then signals Laura, who goes to leave, but Rosario stops her and asks if she lied to Ryan about seeing her sponsor. Laura confesses that she had to do what she had to do and Rosario begs her to take care of herself. Laura nods and she and Luisa go off as Rosario looks at the necklace.

Sometime later, Laura arrives and Estela asks why she brought Luisa if she could barely move. Laura reminds her that Chula can still attack her and Estela nods before ordering both bodyguards out so they can talk. Once alone, Estela tells Laura that she has guts for confronting her alone. Laura gets right to the point: Estela says that she loves Ryan but all she has done is ruin him. Also, why didn’t she appear when she heard Ryan was close to her? Estela explains that Laura seemed insignificant when she first appeared but she wanted her close either way and she ended up being helping Ryan through her when her testimony exonerated him. Laura thinks she could’ve confessed to Pedro’s murder and Ryan would’ve been free but Estela had to maintain her distance. Laura demands to know why and Estela explains that she could’ve face Ryan yet but Laura also ended up being the perfect bait to see if Pedro had any enemies or friends waiting in the wings. This is why she saved her from deportation and put her in Furia though her plan backfired when Asdrubal told her Ryan was in love with her…

Estela remembers when Asdrubal called and told her about Ryan and Laura’s romances. Estela was pissed, because they were supposed to be faking, but she ordered Asdrubal to watch them closely.

Estela confesses that she hated her since then because she couldn’t love Ryan freely. Laura demands to know why but also wants to know why she did nothing to fight for her love and stand up to Pedro Carrillo. Estela slams down her glass and warns Laura to leave Ryan or suffer the consequences.

Ryan and Steve discuss the recent events but Steve tells Ryan that he can’t feel guilty all his life for things he couldn’t control. He then tells Ryan that he hopes he doesn’t go to jail but Ryan doesn’t care what happens to him but what happens with Estela. Steve asks if he wants her back but Ryan shakes his head and tells him that he’s scared for Laura’s safety and he needs the time to find proof against Estela, which he can’t do from jail. Just then, Ryan receives a call from Chavalin, who tells him that he got the address of where Danilo may be staying.

Laura reminds Estela that Ryan doesn’t love her and she can’t force him even if she would leave him. Estela tells her that she doesn’t now men, though plenty have been in her life, and confesses that there is an unbreakable bond between her and Ryan. Laura argues that Estela doesn’t know how to love. Case in point, Asdrubal, who she manipulated by taking advantage of the hatred he felt for Mercy and Ryan because Mercy abandoned him when he was baby. Estela laughs at this theory but Laura gets closer to her and vows to make Laura pay for all she did. Estela grabs Laura, as she turns to leave, and tells her that she’s staying till she promises to leave Ryan alone. Laura then notices Estela’s necklace and rips it off her necklace. She notices it’s the same one they stole from Mercy and demands to know why she has it.

Laura remembers what Danilo said about Asdrubal when Estela held her at gunpoint.

Estela confesses that Pedro ordered her to seduce Ryan to get revenge on Mercy and Walter…

She then remembers when she and Ryan planned to run away in between kisses. Estela won’t tell Pedro but Ryan will at least tell Walter, who has been sick lately. Estela agrees and they kiss some more and promise to meet at the airport tomorrow. Once alone, Estela sighs and goes to leave but Pedro finds and grabs her arms, hard. He chides her for seducing Ryan but not proposing he go into the money laundering business with them. Estela doesn’t want to and tells Pedro that she will never hurt Ryan. Pedro was wary of her behavior.

Laura thinks Pedro’s revenge began long before her because Pedro could not forget Mercy’s behavior in the past.

Estela remembers when Pedro warned her not to make rash decisions but she told him that she would fight for her love. Pedro reminds her that she loves her life and would not settle for less. Estela prefers to live in peace and warns Pedro to not try anything or she will go to the police. Pedro grabs her face and tells her that she won’t say anything, especially after what he is about to tell her. He preferred not to but he now has no choice. Estela told him that it wouldn’t change things but Pedro thought it would and he had proof.

Laura, eyes filling with tears, begs Estela to not tell her that it is what she is thinking. Estela is quiet and Laura now understands why she killed Pedro and Asdrubal, because they were the only other people who knew the truth. Now that they were dead, she hoped to live freely with Ryan, her own brother! (Barf…barfbarfbarfbarfbarfbarf)

Mercy and Rosario talk about Joe and Mercy agrees that he will finally be able to live freely, now that they broke up. Rosario then tells her that she has something for Mercy that probably was her son’s. Mercy cries and confesses that he baby was not a boy but a girl and begins to cry. Rosario is shocked by the news.

Laura demands Estela talk and explain how Pedro managed to pass her off as his daughter. Estela explains that Mercy wasn’t sure if she was Walter’s or Pedro’s very much like Laura doesn’t know whom the father of her baby is. Laura reminds her that her predicament was the result of rape and not a free for all. Estela demands Laura let her finish and explains that Pedro told her that Mercy gave her up because she didn’t want her. Pedro found her and did a DNA test and discovered she wasn’t his daughter and Laura assumes that she found this out and disappeared. Estela decided to find Ryan after some time but he was in Los Primos and she decided not to tell him the truth because he would likely go crazy. She was going crazy herself but she can’t fight her feelings and continues to love Ryan.

Ryan and Steve arrive at the abandoned building and make a plan to corner Danilo so he can reveal what happened with the money laundering. Either way, it’s jail or death by one of the many people he owes money to. They can’t talk anymore as Horacio walks by and Ryan and Steve chase him. Horacio runs up a set up stairs with Ryan in tow as Steve chases him from below. They yell for Horacio to stop.

Rosario kicks her for telling Mercy what Joe told her but Mercy confesses that she’s crying for her daughter. Rosario asks if she knows where she is but Mercy is quiet. She finally tells Rosario that she closed that chapter in her life and Rosario respects her decision to not tell her anything. Mercy then thanks her for taking such good care of her but Rosario asks her not to worry. Mercy then tells her that she will get better and holds the chain tighter.

Laura doesn’t believe that Mercy abandoned Estela or the fact that Pedro cared for her after he found out she wasn’t his daughter. In fact, he’s a monster for asking her to seduce her own brother. Estela doesn’t think she should have an opinion on something she didn’t live but Laura reminds her that she’s living it now and everything finally makes sense.

Ryan chases Horacio, who takes out a gun and points, as Ryan hides behind a wall. He has trouble working the gun and begins to run again as Steve runs after them from below. He climbs up a steep staircase, with Ryan behind him, and they runs through the roof with Ryan behind him. Horacio then steps on a molded piece of the tin roof and grows straight through the floor below. He survives, albeit with a broken leg, and begins to crawl away as Ryan arrives. Ryan sees the gun and hides behind a wall as Horacio shouts that he’d rather die than be caught and tortured by narcos. Ryan begs him to tell the police everything and get a good deal with a good lawyer. Horacio argues that the narcos will still find him in jail but doesn’t notice Steve, who is coming up behind him. Ryan argues that it’s the best solution but Horacio prefers to disappear. Ryan then puts his hands up and asks Horacio to wait. As Steve approaches Horacio, Ryan comes out from behind the wall and tells Horacio that a lot of innocent people will go to jail if he doesn’t tell the truth. At that moment, Steve grabs Horacio’s gun and a shot rings out as Ryan falls to the ground…

Wow. They went there. I didn't think they would!

OMGosh! They sure did!! And she still luuurves him! How sick is that?? What I don't get is that she herself felt sick about it when she first found out, but then she has always been all over him all this time...even planning to marry him! Just about everything she said was a contradiction including the fact that she could not love Ryan the way Laura could love him. Then after all Pedro C did to her, she believes him that Mercy gave her up??

Did being El D bring her out of her shell? In her flashbacks her clothes and make-up were completely different...much more conservative.

Laura continues to be the strong-willed, hot headed martyr-wannabe. I did not like the fact that she took it upon herself to confront Estela...no regard for the safety of her unborn child or Paloma. Yeah, she took Luisa, but Luisa seems to have lost some of her toughness.

Here's something to consider about Estela's feelings for Ryan. I don't know if this has anything to do with real life, but I think it works for fiction: She grew up without her blood family, and maybe felt as though a piece of herself was missing. Then she meets Ryan, and they're simpatico. He... *sniffle* completes her. It feels just liker romantic love.

PLUS the fact that she's a narcissist to begin with, and here is a guy with the same DNA as her. Outside of some exotic, heavy-duty, fictitious genetic engineering, that's as close as she can get to having an opposite-sex clone of herself.

Maybe she is like Morgana can't have babies, or has been fixed, or just thinks they won't have any ???. No kids, if they can be sure none will ever be, have fun. If I'm not mistaken it was mentioned recently that the...maybe Egyptians? intermarried to keep the wealth or something. It is my understanding that the degeneration of the gene pool and birth defects are the only clinical reason. The other social stigma is unfounded otherwise. Though it's not for me.

I guess that is real Luuuurveeee. :-)

Alfredo, I am up unusually late (for me) and just posted a comment on your excellent "Ramon" summary. Now, I see you are doing double duty here as well. I know your recap will be amazing.

I never, ever expected what we learned tonight. Is this the first time such a boundary has been crossed? The only thing that did cross my mind was wondering if Pedro was lying. But as Mercy admitted her lost child was a girl, it certainly seems as though Estela is the one.

I can't fathom how Ryan will deal with this. My heart goes out to Mercy as well.

Understanding the big reveal but little of the dialog, I am really looking forward to the recap and comments. Rgv Chick, your comment revealed crucial details, particularly "Just about everything she said was a contradiction including the fact that she could not love Ryan the way Laura could love him", which made me shiver. Thank you.

Looking forward to checking in tomorrow.

Sleep well everyone.

Diana

I mean, they've already been smackin it, so the dam is breached already. Why stop now?

Thank You Alfredo. Not exactly boring this one eh? So the writers are just going the easy route and have the people just blurt out all these secrets we have been hoping one of them would decipher? GONG !

I assume Joe was wrong about Asdrubal being Ryan's brother or were he and Estela siblings also? I was not able to follow that.

And Joe is just Joe, who shops at Goodwill rather than Macy's for Luuurve?

Sabrago is not smart enough to have one of his IT guys wrestle the tablet away from Morgagme (who he already took her phone) and see what she has been doing? GONG !

I will not EVER watch another piece of bullshit Anti-ME propaganda by Rosie O'Donnell O'Campo. Note to RO: You need to be smarter than your victim to brainwash him. You missed the mark on me by a Loooong shot dunce.

Good Morning!! The final hour of Kirby's Double Dummies today...can't say "Double Gongs" because there 's many more than two.

Why would they show Luisa specifically looking at Jimmy's tattoo if she wasn't going to do anything about it? That massacre he provoked shouldn't have occurred, or in the least, should have been minimized. So Steve B, more for your body count: Jimmy Benson and several people at the Festival. What is Rosy O trying to do...wasn't it enough that there was a massacre at the beginning of the TN???

And where was Luisa when Estela grabbed Laura...she never showed up when Estela had Laura at gunpoint. It had to be Danilow to save Laura once again.

Why would Horacio give the real address of where he "lives" to someone who is into illegal stuff? He's been a sharp dude all along and to make a mistake like that is out of character.

Kirby! we were practically writing together :-)

AAA, thank you for a masterpiece of a recap!

"All in the Family". Perfect.

"Estela runs away as soon as she hears the gunshot (like the rat she is)" was my favorite line of many sprinkled throughout your outstanding recap Alfredo.

You captured all the raw emotion and the terribly grave details astutely and sensitively.

In the flashbacks, Estela seemed much younger, happier and in love. Monstrous is too kind a word to describe Pedro. Still, how could Estela have continued with Ryan once she knew the truth? Sick, twisted, perverted and heart breaking.

I can't imagine how Ryan will come to terms once he learns the truth. And Mercy...how will she comprehend all this?

"I assume Joe was wrong about Asdrubal being Ryan's brother or were he and Estela siblings also?" I'm glad you asked Kirby. I don't know either...

Danilo saves the day. Loathsome, yes. Savior? Somewhat. He has saved Laura and Paloma several times now. I hope that is taken into account when he meets his maker.

"Ryan admits that he always suspected the truth". My intuition says that Ryan only recently suspected the truth. Estela clearly had him captivated until 5 minutes ago...

Rgv Chick, Luisa continues to leave me with a churning sensation in my stomach. As you noted, she clearly saw Jimmy's tattoo. Did it not occur to her that something foul was afoot?? And yes, Luisa stuck to Blake like fly paper. Laura? Not so much. I do not like Luisa and I certainly don't trust her.

Julie your "Outside of some exotic, heavy-duty, fictitious genetic engineering, that's as close as she can get to having an opposite-sex clone of herself" might be the desperately sought after answer for one of the most troublesome questions...

I didn't think I'd care if Mercy and Joe broke up - but I do. Mercy seemd well, almost fragile, a word I never thought I'd use to describe her.

I wish I hadn't seen the previews. There were spoilers and one scene in particular had me shaking my head.

I'll say no more for now except thank you Alfredo, for yet another comprehensive, excellent recap.

Diana

Diana: WTH was that ? Estela is hell-bent on upping the ante.

Kirby: I'm looking forward to seeing Season 2.

RVG Chick: WOW! I really do NOT know what to say.

Thank you, Alfredo. I am so disappointed by the way truths have been revealed. Like Kirby said, having people just blurt their secrets is really disappointing, especially after all the efforts people have gone through to uncover the truth.

Except for the identity of the real El D. Laura figured that out. Of course, so did we. So, yet again, I think something is "too obvious" to be true, and yet again it turns out that nothing is "too obvious" for a TN. As mysteries go, Blue's Clues was more suspenseful!

Even in Hotel de los Secretos, which was supposed to be a mystery, we had a pretty good idea who the bad guy was because they all but told us. (Not to mention that it played into a well-known cliche about mystery stories.)

Julie, ITA, the finale, including the last few episodes. thus far is a big disappointment. They spent so much time on a story line that could have been completely left out (LetMe) and added in some good character background and a more realistic and acceptable finale.

I, like Kirby, will not watch season 2 if it's going to be a bunch more "USA is full of discrimination and criminals, so go there anyway because in the end you may survive" messages. I found the exaggeration of what Mexicans go through when they come to the USA deplorable and an embarrassment to those Hispanics who have been here for generations...working hard and leading successful lives without encountering any type of violence and criminal activity. If season 2 is anything like this one, I hope it gets boycotted.

I was trying to make sense of the necklaces...this is what I think...

The Necklace Paths

Necklace 1: Mercy -> Pedro C -> Ryan -> Mercy -> Estela

Necklace 2: Mercy -> Baby Estela -> Asdrubal -> Genesis -> Joe -> Rosario -> Mercy

RVG Chick: Interesting to see if Season 2 will be super cutthroat since Senator Logan will probably still be around for awhile.

I just realized that I missed the first half of this episode last night, so I REALLY need to read the recap now!

Steve B, Senator Logan was barely in the story to begin with. Ever since Mr Blake died, no one even has a connection to Logan. He wasn't involved in anyone else's story and is kind of irrelevant now.

"The reporter reports them that if Regional Music had a bad reputation; it will only get worse from there." Hmm, someone should remind the reporter that the performers and fans didn't attack anyone.

"someone should remind the reporter that the performers and fans didn't attack anyone." You are so right. Julie! Following that reporter's train of thought, did the Foundation School get a bad reputation after it got attacked? pffftt! I think not!

Thank you so much, everyone! Wow, one hour till the grand finale and the best the writers can do is an exposition dump. Maybe if Estela and Laura were facing off, but one can barely walk and the other is pregnant. I expected better than a "talk between gal pals."

Estela may reason with herself that no one will be better for Ryan than her but the fact of the matter is she knew the truth and still tried to get in bed with Ryan. If she would've helped him from afar and then reappear and try to be his friend then I'm okay but she kissed him plenty of times. Eckkkk!

One can argue that, yes, she didn't know before she fell in love and yes, it was acceptable before for lineage purposes and monetary, but that's not practiced here or in Mexico any more so double eckkk!

RGV and Julie, the Foundation did plummet into darkness after the shooting. When Laura was kidnapped by Blake and she spoke to Emily, Emily revealed that the gangs had taken over again so that couldn't have been well for them. The problem is that the actual reason for the massacre was covered up so what is left, organized crime wars during a regional music concert. What ever happened to the truth?

Everything after Estela showed up was a disappointment. They have managed to fix some thing, i.e. Ryan, but the damage (and logical thinking) were already in the dumps by then.

Diana, the previews for tonight were definitely spoilerific. Univision sure says too much or too little, never just enough to get people excited.

Kirby, Sagrado should've taken all commuinication devices from Morgana. That was too dumb for words as were Horacio's actions. Funny enough, this is Ocampo's last tn as executive producer as she's moved on to a higher position in Televisa. Her associate producer, Eduardo MEza, will take care of Season 2, if it ever comes to frutition.

Speaking of Season 2, if it's about Estela, is it a prequel, in which case, triple Eckkk at watching the incest in action...or a continuation? I don't care for Estela's life at all so I also pass.

I still remember thinking it was cool when Leia kissed Luke in Empire Strikes Back (also in Star Wars but that was just a peck). Then it turned out they were twins. But at least she never tried to seduce him.

Right now I am having a hard time envisioning a Season 2 of this TN. I straight up don't like Estela. Maybe they can come up with a new story for Laura, but then the "Estela Carrillo" title won't make much sense.

I thought I had read that this would be Ocampo's last TN, but I didn't realize she would still be with Televisa. I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. I mean, there are producers that I like much, much less, and except for the lecturing and messaging I really like Ocampo and would be really happy if she stayed on as a producer and someone at Televisa would encourage her to dial back on the messaging.

I'd love for someone at Televisa to do something about that other trend (I don't know if Telemundo does it too) of giving away way too many clues in their TNs.

I also remember kissing Luke as a "we may die so here's one for the road type of kiss" unless that is how I remember it in my mind? Also, even if they had slept together, they didn't know, which is why I gave Estela a pass. Until she tried to get into his pants, knowing what she knew. Eckkkkkkk!

I don't like Estela either. She rubs me wrong, poor Sara Corrales did an excellent job, but Estela is neither interesting as a lead or anti-heroine or evildoer. She does the pity me routine as ED or as Estela and that is just annoying.

I think Meza will inherit her message mantle as his new novela, Madre a Toda Padre, seems to be geared toward "being a Mr. Mom is okay." Which is fine but they will likely beat that theme to a pulp when it's done.

Thank you , Alfredo. I was not able to watch this episode, and I will not be able to watch tonight either.

So..they went there.

I am not a fan of Sara. Maybe if she would have dialed her performance back a bit..not subtle. Basta.

The kiss in Star Wars for the swing across the drop. The one in ESB was to "prove" to Han that he didn't know anything about women, but it was a pretty big kiss. It didn't exactly ruin my day, but it was pretty weird in retrospect.

It might be too soon to do a postmortem on this TN or Sara's performance just yet, but seriously ITA with Alfredo that things took a nosedive when the real Estela showed up. I don't understand why unless there was some kind of last-minute decision to change the last few weeks' worth of story... because up to that point everything seemed to be thoughtfully paced and plotted.

Thanks, Alfredo. Gulp, great titles for this terrific recap. I wasn't sure I was getting everything right, but your fabulously detailed storytelling confirmed it.

Why would they show Luisa specifically looking at Jimmy's tattoo if she wasn't going to do anything about it?

Rgv Chick, ITA. Why had she bothered telling Laura earlier about the tattoo? Luisa is either as dumb as a box of rocks or she’s okay with armed terrorists killing innocent people.

She grew up without her blood family, and maybe felt as though a piece of herself was missing. Then she meets Ryan, and they're simpatico. He... *sniffle* completes her.

Julie, I was thinking similarly. I don’t want to get inside Estella’s head, but I can see after committing such a heinous taboo against morality and human nature that she’d feel damned and might as well have Ryan for life. Like in Greek mythology.

My intuition says that Ryan only recently suspected the truth. Estela clearly had him captivated until 5 minutes ago...

Diana - lol! The night Ryan got drunk, he was not pretending. He clearly was discombobulated by Estella's return. In my view, Laura giving him some space and his seeing Estella wasn't this special celestial being but a clingy, jealous, non-truthteller did the trick. After that first kiss, he never seemed into their kisses to me. Estella always had to do the initiating.

I will not EVER watch another piece of bullshit Anti-ME propaganda by Rosie O'Donnell O'Campo.

Kirby, it seems Latin viewers in the USA agree. Toward the end, the ratings weren’t good here like they were in Mexico.

Normally, I believe a person has a right to know the truth, but I’m fine if Laura decides to take this secret to the grave and leave Ryan in peace. Of course, if anything ever happens to Laura, here comes Estella to take advantage of Ryan... barf!

Lots of swiss cheese here.

Everybody’s wisely running for their lives, even Sagrado’s hitmen, but Estella thinks this is a peachy time to stay near and stick it to Laura? Okay.

So Mercy and Walter miss a baby girl and enemy Pedro turns up with a baby girl, and nobody suspects anything or runs a DNA test? Okay.

I've said it before, I never fell asleep on Doble Vida. Overall I liked the performances and the scenery was great.

Julie..yeah, there does seem to have been a sudden change to speed events along once Es hit the scene. #sothisiswhathappenedzoom

Wasn't the novel Flowers in the Attic about kids being imprisoned in their crazy grandma's attic , and the brother and sister fell in love? #nootheroptionsforadate

SusanLynn, yes,in FLowers in the Attic a brother and sister fell in love..and in the sequels they got married!

Niecie, "Normally, I believe a person has a right to know the truth, but I’m fine if Laura decides to take this secret to the grave and leave Ryan in peace".

Very sage advice. I can't imagine how devastated Ryan will be. He did nothing wrong but the guilt would be an unbearable burden...

I thought the finale tonight was going to be 2 hours. Comcast shows it is airing 9-10 ET only!

Diana

The Flowers in the Attic kids (the boy was named Chris, not sure about the girl) eventually had a couple of kids of their own. One of them was sickly or something. Big surprise.

Diana, it's just one hour tonight. The finale is indeed two hours, but we saw the first half of it last night because Univision apparently refuses to do ANYTHING the way Televisa does.

With tonight being the last episode, we are going to have to find a gathering place, for our patio, at least until something we really want to watch comes along. I suggest we (who haven't already) hightail it over to Ramon. I tried, but could not get interested in it, but with Double gone, I can half heartedly watch, then rip it to shreds in the comments....

Our patio is like a beautiful flower, watered, fed and nurtured by Alfredo, Julie, Adriana and Ms RGV. Without them it would have withered away and died, and we can't let that happen just because Looney Vision dumped a bunch of manure on it.

Kirby, thank you.

I loved what you said about the patio! This is a very special group and the recappers and commenters are a special group.

I'm glad you will come over to Ramon soon. Hopefully, others will follow. We've shared a special camraderie and it has been an honor to be a part of it.

Diana

Alfredo you put the bit in this episode. And Julie yes they went there.

Estela is some kinda twisted sister.
"Sister"being the operative word here.
She could care less how this is gonna
Rip Ryans heart. She just wants to hurt
Mercy. I don't want estela to die, she
Needs to know the truth, cuz her daddy pedro fed her a pack of lies. Mercy didn't give her up. That might be why Mercy had that stroke, she realized who
Hellstela really is. Her nasty ho of a
daughter. And that she had yucky sex
With her brother, Double yucky. That
Would bring on a stroke.

Why won't Ryan wear a bulletproof vest
Knowin the kind of people he hangs all around? I hope hes wearin one, or the
Bullet missed him.

And how is Morgana suppose get away from turttleboot guy to get the loot out of the turtleboots back at the hotel? She'll sing him tosleep and slip
Out quietly :)......and I own property on the moon and the patio agreed to move there Monday. Lol. The craziness
Continues.Now they've got this episode
On 1 hour, isn't it suppose to be 2?

Who does tonight? I really don't care much for a 2nd season. Enough of this
Insanity. Romantic comedy is just what the tn doctor ordered. Ok I gotta
Rest up before this incest infested
Episode.

Thank Alfredo, Adriana, Ms Chick, Julie (Juls). You guys should be professional writers, you tell these
Stories better than the script writers do. Thanks guys.

Kirby, I'm so happy you'll be joining us at Ramon. The beginning wasn't as good as I expected, but I'm hoping it'll get better. I do hope to 'see' everyone' over there.

NiNa, thank you for your kind words :-)

Heard that "Danilo" was taking Gordo's place this week and was talking about Season 2 of Estela.
