Very frustrating episode. Not Blanca's finest hour. Here’s what I remember in no particular order.
- Robert sees Julián (fake JP) moving like nothing is wrong with his leg and overhears him on the cell talking about bilking Blanca’s family. Robert confronts him and it almost comes to blows, but Blanca breaks it up and gets on Robert's case for harassing her "son."
- Ana finds Ignacio's mistress's (Begoña’s) credit card in his wallet while he naps. She takes her sisters on a shopping spree. Linda (the youngest, I think) is all into it. Daniela (the carpenter) refuses to use the card. Eventually Begoña’s card company texts her an alert about the wild spree and she calls Ignacio, who sees the card is gone. Ana's spree (really, Linda’s spree) ends when the card is finally rejected. The three sisters wind up in a police station. Ignacio and Begoña show up hand in hand. Daniela gives Ignacio what for, but Ana remains silent.
- Robert goes for DNA registration and is waited on by the same orphanage worker that we think is in cahoots with Julián (fake JP).
- Daniela and Julieta get into it over Julieta's trash bag and the lack of recycle and composting separation. (Anybody ever heard of giving new tenants guidelines, so they'll know the rules when they move in?)
- (This was funny. Looks like Gabriel (Julieta’s resentful former student) will bring the humor.) Daniela is bent over fiddling with the trash bag. Gabriel arrives with a flyer and needs directions. From that angle, he thinks Daniela is a guy and taps her to get her attention. She goes ballistic thinking she’s being accosted and hurls the trash bag at him, nicking him on the forehead. Sparks fly. She runs and comes back with a band-aid. He asks her, you think an apology and a band-aid can solve walloping someone attractive and innocent like myself? He applies the band-aid indignantly to his forehead and claims he’s going to get a lawyer. Later, he phones her, she gets ticked and hangs up.
- Julieta tells Eugenio she hopes there's no trouble over Robert’s run-in with Eugenio and Blanca’s “son.” Eugenio, now worried/livid that Blanca is getting taken once again, comes home to Blanca and Imelda (Eugenio’s mother) fussing over Julián with a lavish meal. Eugenio tells Julián they’ll follow up with him AFTER the DNA results arrive -- but for now, get out. (You go, Eugenio!)
- Blanca tells Marisol about the “son.” Marisol sneaks into Blanca’s bedroom and takes a photo of the page from Blanca's address book with Julián's contact information.
- Blanca, still worked up about Robert getting into it with fake JP and her dislike of Julieta, interrupts Robert and Julieta's cozy dinner at home. In the end, she tells them they have a week to get out. I think Julieta stifles saying "I told you so," when Robert failed to smooth things over with Blanca by going solo to talk to her.
That's pretty much what I remember too, Niecie, thanks for the summary...just a slight correction--Marisol is ICKnacio's wife. You'd think one of the sisters would have figured out that the expenditures might be reported to the owner of the card. They should have stopped when they had the chance. I hated that ICk showed up with Begona--neither one has any shame or scruples. I wish Daniela would have smashed the door on his arm a little harder and damaged the car somehow.
Blanca is setting herself up for a big disappointment. Apparently, others have already tried to pull the scam on the family before...I would think she would be more cautious. If she is so critical of Julieta and Robert, where is that spunk in regards to Julian. Ana is the one who took the photq...why would she want Julian's contact info? If she willingly made the family suffer all these years, why would she care to get involved with this guy?
I wasn't surprised when Blanca refused to accept the truth. As I said in my previous comments scammers are terribly convincing although she should have known better. I was so clapping for Eugenio during that scene!
Blanca&Ismelda: "But he's our long lost child. Don't be such a party popper!
Julian silently: My wallet needs love like everything does. [evil laugh]
Eugenio: Wait for the freaking DNA Test you numb-nuts! Don't you remember the one humiliating time I took a scammer in front of my father's grave?!
The great and powerful Blanca. We meet at last. I suppose you've been expecting me, right? The all-knowing Blanca is never surprised. How can she be, she knows everything. But If that's true, then why is she here? If she knew I was coming, why didn't she leave?
[sweeps plate of bread off table]
Agent Julian: Maybe you knew I was going to do that, maybe you didn't. If you did, that means you baked the bread and set that plate right there deliberately, purposefully. Which means you're sitting there also deliberately, purposefully.
Blanca: What did you do with Robert?
Agent Smith/Robert: Bread needs love like everything does.
Blanca: You are a bastard, you know that?
Agent Julian/Robert: You would know, Mom.
Thanks to Alfredo, Niecie, and Chickie. We went to an Electric light Orchestra last night , so I did not see this episode. However, it played out in my mind as I read the recap.
Well, Gabriel is a pretty egotistical guy. I guess he and Daniela are meant to be together.
Sending out a dedication to Ana .."Evil Woman" by ELO. And on
e to Dan and Gabe..." I Believe in You and Me" by Chilliwack.(I cannot fill our Madeline's shoes, but ...)
Have a good weekend, everyone.
OT..Chickie, did you get any rain?
I was happy that Eugenio could finally admit to Daniela that the loss of her brother affected them all too much and she was not responsible.
We did learn that Juan Pabo must have a mole somewhere in the crotch area because Julián was willing to show granny but she said no she would take his word for it.
I got a kick out of the commercial for "cKlass" in the middle with Julieta talking to us and Marjorie de Sousa doing a cameo as their favorite model.
If Julieta and Daniela ever teamed up against something/someone they would be unstoppable.
And double earclip cute boy was Daniela's boyfriend in P&P. Small world.
YIKES..
Sending out a tune "Every Kind of People" by Robert Palmer.
Susanlynn, don't feel bad. I am still working off a chart to keep the names straight.
I leaned much I hadn't caught in watching the episode. Your naming the characters (especially the shopping spree sisters) was very helpful.
You captured what I was thinking about Blanca to a "t". She put her worst foot forward last night, didn't she? Still...
Whenever I see her fingering her locket with her expression mirroring unbearable heartache, I dismiss any irritation by her bad behavior.
Rgv Chick, "If she is so critical of Julieta and Robert, where is that spunk in regards to Julian". Frustrating, isn't it? She wants so desperately to believe, sje has taken any shred of ill acquired information to heart. Hope for desperately needed rain for you continues.
I had to smile as Julieta will not be devastated to leave. She can roll with the punches. Robert? Not so much. It was hard to watch him, pleading to stay. He is feeling some connection there, and it will be yet another loss for him. Sad.
Gabriel and Daniela seem to be a great potential couple. I have to admit, her working the buzz saw in the opening scene made me very nervous. Pay attention I wanted to scream! Why did they keep showing it up close??
Jarifa, I also liked the Ignacio/Daniela scene. So much grief and impossible to move on, especially when there is no definitive resolution to the question if Juan is dead or alive. And of course, with Ignacio firmly entrenched in his belief he is dead and Blanca determined to continue the search in perpetuity only adds to the anguish.
Thank you so much Niecie!
Diana
Agreed Jarifa. Besides there aren't many orphanages left in United States or Europe as they're increasingly replaced by foster care. The argument is that orphanages have terrible conditions, are financially unfit, understaffed and sometimes corrupt(Especially in Africa and Eastern Europe). Robert was very lucky to not get kidnapped by a rogue facility/child ring! It may not be of any help to him but atleast he had a chance to prosper.
I think Robert has a brother, is that correct? I can't recall if we heard anything about his adoptive parents (?)
Diana
The director/editor loves close ups that don't seem to be going anywhere. I've watched enough tv to know that the camera usually shows you something for a reason, but in this show I'm not so sure. I went back to watch, was she just talking about the expectations her sister and mother have for her in the love department?
I really like the relationships, at first Imelda was portrayed as a controlling, monster and yet we have seen her genuine affection and partnership with Blanca. The sisters are great Linda/Daniela and Amalia/Belén. It has been 5 episodes but all have distinct characteristics.
All the work it took to move into the apartment I totally understand why Robert doesn't want to leave, notwithstanding the vibes he gets for the tree, the food, Blanca...
thanks for the unofficial recappers and contributors, this has been a welcome break from guns and stupid.
I wonder if the guy at Dna place, if he is working with Julian, will use Robert's dna info for Julian's? That would be horrible.
I'm hoping that Ana cares enough abt the family to tell Julian to eff off but her motives and sanity are still unknown.
Dani and Gabi will make the craziest of couples. She cares nothing for looks and he's obsessed with his.
Really loving the real-ness of J and R's relationship.
Thank you RgvChick and Carvivlie!
It sounds as though Rob's parents were supportive of Omar finding his bio ones. If Robert is any indication, they raised their sons with love. It takes a confident and brave adoptive parent to support their child's quest to find where they came from.
Adopters - unsung heroes.
Diana
I live in San Antonio, TX.
Steve, glad you're sister made it out safely. I hope her home wasn't too affected. There are so many others that didn't make it out of the areas and/or their homes have been completely destroyed. My thoughts and prayers are with all...
Julieta calls her mother Catalina to find out where her brother is to get her money back. Catalina refuses to cooperate.
Robert is now in the kitchen sorting through the old garbage. (Trying to fit in better?). He wants to stay. He loves the building with the smell of bread, the hallways. He sees Blanca as only defending her son. Juliets does not see it that way at all. They never knew the Córsegas were going to hate them. They both agree that tomorrow is another day. Tomorrow arrives and when Julieta and Blanca try to talk to Blanca she tells them that all tenants are responsible for cleaning the public areas twice a month and it is their turn. Nothing else to discuss.
Marisol is still making excuses to stay with Ignacio:and tells Linda she needs the money for her daughter Frida to pay her tuition and give her the best life possible. Begoña tells Ignacio that she wants him to move in with her. Ignacio comes home and wants to talk to Marisol. He tells her that things got worse when her family got involved. He wants a divorce. If she agrees to his terms neither she nor Frida will want for anything. Begoña is his future. He is moving out. He leaves.
Belén and Amalia have a shop. Luz, Julieta's assistant, drops off catalogues from cKlass. Belén is after Amalia for eating in the store. She gets her food on the clothes.
Robert runs into Eugenio in the sauna and tries to talk to him about Blanca and his son and how she wants to kick them out. Eugenio says he does not know what he is talking about. He does not have a son. He did have one but he is dead. He will talk to Blanca.
Robert is having problems with the director of the hospital wanting to admit more children who are burn victims. Robert's foundation has not been keeping up with their payments for the children's treatment. Robert insists they cannot turn away the children. He will talk to his foundation.
Belén, Amalia and Blanca get together and talk about problems with the new tenants. Blanca goes through the whole tale of Julieta telling Eugenio about her seeing Julián and how because of Julieta she got into it with her boyfriend. "Not married?" Amalia asks. "No! " That is another thing that bothers Blanca. Belén does not think it is good to stick one's nose in other people's business. Amalia cannot believe she is throwing them out. Blanca tells them that If they they could see how Robert treated the man who is surely her son they would understand how she would never forgive him.
Blanca walks in on Audifaz in her kitchen. She is not pleased with the surprise. He just stopped by for coffee and fruit. She tells him to put apartment 202 back on the market to rent. He says it won't be so easy to find tenants. She doesn't care. She wants the current tenants out. There is one condition for new tenants: they have to be a MARRIED couple. If there are fines to be paid, she will pay them from her savings.
Ana is concerned with Gabriel's worming his way into the family with Blanca but especially with Imelda. She witnesses him stopping by the house to bring a couple of gifts for Blanca and Imelda. Imelda is totally enchanted. He thinks about them every minute. Ana gets her driver/bodyguard (it looks like he has on a bullet proof vest ) to track him down and find out what he can. Ana is left staring at the "JP" carved on the tree. Her driver tells Ana he has found out that Gabriel is a shameless theifmthat will steal all he can. Ana meets with Gabriel and tells him she knows he is a conman and what he is up to. He says he was abandoned as a child and is not playing with anyone's feelings. She tells him he is not the real Juan Pablo. He wants to know how she can be so sure. Does she know the real Juan Pablo? Imelda calls him in the middle of the conversation to set up a meeting with him later so she can give him the money he needs for rent. Later Imelda does meet with him and does give him the money. He takes it.
Gabriel calls Daniela telling her she owes him thousands of pesos. She calls him back and they taunt each other on the phone by answering/not answering/hanging up/leaving messages all day long. He seems to be loving the game. She seems to be constantly annoyed but does agree to meet him "only" to settle the matter. When they finally meet up, Daniela is busy slapping a fly off her face and she accidentally smacks Gabriel in the process. Guess she now owes him twice as much.
Julieta confides in her assistant Luz at work when Luz notices she looks like something is bothering her. Juliets admits she had a fight with her mother, she is getting kicked out of her apartment, she cannot stand her neighbors and Robert has been really tense. She explains that Robert is tense because he is looking for his biological parents. She is just afraid all of the stuff going on will affect her relationashio with him, Luz says if they had a wedding date that may bring them together. Julieta says they have been taking it slowly. . She doesn't even have a ring yet. Julieta is afraid something from the outside will force them apart. Luz tells her no, that is not going to happen..
Robert later talks to Julieta and lets her know what Eugenio told him about not having a son. This just adds to the proof that the landlords are strange people and that is another reason to leave for Julieta. She tells him to have some dignity. Robert reminds her of the deposit. Robert thinks it is probably better to wait until Eugenio talks to Blanca.
Down in the bakery, Eugenio asks Blanca how she could ask the new tenants to leave the apartment. He told her not to fall in her old pattern when someone comes by to say he is her son. Robert wanted him to explain what had happened to their "supposed son". He tells her: our son is dead. She refuses to agree. He cannot force her to believe that. By throwing them out, they have to pay a fine, return their security deposit, and the money they contributed to the redecorating. Blanca says she will pay for it out of her savings. Eugenjio says her savings won't do it. She wants him to understand: she does not want them to live there. He reminds her she can't go making these decisions all on her own. She cannot get along with that woman. Why should they live with people that don't respect them? He doesn't know what she is going to do. She promises she will look for new renters, use her savings, sell some of her things. She swears. Eugenio isn't so worried about her thinking Juan Pablo is going to appear. What really worries him is that she is going to lose her sanity and he will end up having to accept that he lost his son and his wife.
Ana tries to warn Blanca about Julián but she is so desperate for Jukián to be the one she is not listening.
Robert returns to the apartment and runs into Blanca who tells him she is not pleased he talked to Eugenio. He was just asking questions about something he did not understand. She tells him to simply remember it is none of his business. He runs into Audifaz who has some things to talk about with him. Why are they leaving after all they did to redecorate it? Robert explains that Blanca has not forgiven him for fighting with her son. Audifaz tells him a secret. It is a difficult time for Blanca. She and Eugenio did have a son. Robert adds that the boy died. Audifaz says no he did not die. That has not been proven. Their son was lost and never found many years ago.
