I was on the edge of my seat last night.

I'm not sure of so much that happened, especially if someone had the DNA results "fixed".

Eugenio's happiness with Robert was a joy to watch. Julieta and Blanca's deteriorating relationship (if it can even be called that) was hard to watch.

The three sisters had very different interactions with Julieta also, didn't they? Julieta is mature and headstrong but her softer side (such as it is) seems only to be seen by Robert. We know she loves him and she shows it. But she isn't soft or sweet. I'd like to see a touch more of sugar. That doesn't mean I don't like her. I do. She isn't the typical lead and I enjoy that.

I keep hoping Ana is going to burst into flames.

Is everyone all right this morning? Kirby? Alfredo? Nina? Everyone else??

Cable problems, so I got to see only bits and pieces off antenna tv as I was trying to fix cable. : ( It was interesting seeing everybody with all of their wrinkles and blemishes on HDTV which is how it arrives via antenna.

ITA about the scenes I saw with Robert and Eugenio.

I don't remember much.

Funny: the table Daniela gives Gabriel has bad vibes

Roberto asking Julieta if she would accept his family (if he found them) even if they were really different from her and then Julieta hoping Juan Pablo found a really good family.

Julieta blaming the Córsega sisters for her new handbag getting paint on it.

Julián is out of jail and told Ana he knew her secret.
 

Can't wait until Monday. So far no reason to think the DNA results have been messed with.

This was the first episode where you saw a small crack in Rob and Juli's relationship. He grew frustrated when she wouldn't stop with the negative comments on his family. First time he has been upset.

I think Julian better watch out because I'm putting my money on crazy Ana to take him out.

I was hoping Juli would find allies in Rob's sisters but that js out now.

The table with bad vibes was funny. I wonder if Dani made that up or really believed it. Gabi believes it!
 

Jarifa, thanks for reminding us about the table! That bit was really funny.

Carvivlie, yes, that was the first time we have seen Robert upset with Julieta.

And I totally agree, Julie now has no allies in the family. Except Ana of course who is the uncloaked enemy.

Carvivlie, I didn't think Ana had time to get to anyone to get the DNA results altered but wasn't she in cahoots with the man we saw? I'm thinking he might have done so on his own expecting a big payoff. Maybe I'm making too much of it. Not sure how many episodes there are. Julie's relationship with Robert's family is deteriorating so rapidly, she needs to learn the truth so she can back off a bit.

I would enjoy some gentle needling and eyebrow raising but I hope it all doesn't get down to a level of yelling and screaming and ultimately, bad blood that is irreparable.

No one knows about the DNA test, so no one will mess with it. The guy at the testing place seems to be on the up and up. Ana asked that Blanca's DNA be removed from their files, so she thinks they're done with that place. And, obviously, if Julian's DNA results were negative, he didn't bribe the guy.

Here's Part 1 of some highlights... for Ep 14 9/8/2017 more coming later...

After Blanca and Ana come out of the building and see Eugenio and Robert, they wonder why they are together. Eugenio tells tehm they just happened to meet up down the street and quickly makes a run for the bakery. Blanca questions Robert and he says they bumped into each other near the hospital and Eugenio offered him a ride. When Blanca then tells Robert that he needs to see if he can calm Julieta, he wonders if something else happened, but Blanca tells him “not really,” just that she is intent on finding new tenants. She asks him if they are really leaving, so he hesitantly confirms. Blanca suggests the he think about well.

After Robert goes up to the apartment, Julieta finds him sitting on the couch very pensive and asks what’s wrong, but he tells her he is fine. She then shares that she is going to her office to get her license and that she had a lady that was interested in the apartment, but the neighbors scared her away… she’s counting the days that she doesn’t have to see Blanca. Robert is visibly disturbed, but when he invites Julieta to supper so they can talk, she assumes that the “talk” means that there is something wrong. Before he goes to shower, Robert tells Julieta about the little boy’s mother who they can’t find and has come to the realization that there really are mothers that abandon their children…and other mothers who are misjudged.

Meanwhile, Blanca returns to her home and finds Dani with some paint materials. Dani needs something to do to keep her mind of everything, Blanca thinks that when one wants to keep their mind off of something, that “something” has a man’s name, but Dani tells her she is just thinking about the problems at work. She tells Blanca she used some of her savings and gives Blanca an envelope of money so she can go buy something for herself. Dani then gets a call from Gabster to let her know that he has placed the table in his bedroom, so she will be sleeping close to him…he then corrects himself and says “the table” will be sleeping close to him. Dani does her silly stuff and asks him if he has gotten any vibes yet…the table is haunted. When she hangs up, Blanca notes that her distraction’s name is Gabriel. Meanwhile, Gabster falls in his bedroom and stumps his toe, so he wonders if the table is really haunted.

Marisol goes and bangs on Xavi’s door, but he refuses to come out. She reproaches him for pinching Frida’s cheeks, but he says he only touched Frida. Marisol threatens to tear his piano to pieces if he ever touches her daughter again.

As Julián is being let out of jail. Imelda is sitting with Eugenio at the bakery telling him that Julián appears to be a good man after all…he returned practically all her money.
Blanca goes shopping at Belén’s store as Amalia comes in crying because her online date insulted her calling her fat…and he ended up being short, fat, and rude. Blanca scolds Belén for using the web, she has always warned her about it.

Imelda sees Eugenio at the JP tree as he whispers, “thank you.” When he walks away she follows him and tells him that the pain will kill them all. She knows the pain he is suffering even though he tries not to say anything. He tells her that when hope knocks on the door, it is difficult to hide what one feels…life is always trying to prove how much one can stand. Meanwhile, Robert watches them from his window, looks up and says. “Thank you!” He then walks out of the apartment and sees Dani painting. They converse and he asks her name and that of her sisters. Just then, Marisol and Frida walk in, so Dani introduces them. Robert tries to learn the names of such beautiful women. Dani wonders why he wants to know, so Robert tells her he is just curious and excuses himself. After he leaves, Dani thinks it’s such a pity that such a good man has such horrible mate. While Frida tapes a “fresh paint” sign on a can, Dani asks Marisol how things are with Ignacio. Mari tells her they came to an agreement and she will tell her about it later.
 

It's hard for me to believe that Dani is 34. She looks and acts much younger.
 

Ep 14 9/8/2017 Part 2

Julieta is at work where they give her an “original” purse at her going away party. Meanwhile, Robert is at the foundation talking to Tavo. He shares that he is confused and doesn’t know how to react. He sees Blanca and all he feels is tenderness, compassion, and of course, respect, but he doesn’t know what to say to her. Tavo tells him to take time to get to know the family. He knows of people who have met their families and end up distancing themselves because they just can see them as family…they are too different. A family isn’t just blood relations, it’s the customs, time and living together. After Tavo leaves, Max comes running in to tell Robert that he found the little boy’s mother house. He went there and was told that the lady had left the city. Robert just shakes his head and sees himself as a little boy.

As Ana gets to her home, Julián shows up and points out that all he had to say was that he knew her secret and she did what he wanted. He thinks that she is the key to the situation and knows who the real Juan Pablo is. He threatens to tell Imelda that she knows where JP is.

Julieta is back home when she notice that her “original” purse is all stained with paint. She goes and bangs on Blanca’s door and demands to know who ruined her purse. Julieta, Dani and Linda get into it so Blanca comes out and tells Julieta she needs to cool it. Dani shows Julieta the sign, but Julieta tells her she didn’t come in on her knees…the sign is too low.

Outside, Robert arrives and sees Eugenio. They each raise their eyebrows as they greet and think about all the emotions they are feeling…nervousness, anxiety, but hope also. When Eugenio asks is Robert has told Julieta, Robert responds “no,’ but he thinks it would be good to feel her out. They agree to go to the gym together in the morning, but before they go Eugenio would like to have coffee and sweet bread.

AS Robert walks in he encounters the cat (verbal) fight. Julieta tells him she can tolerate another day with these crazy people; and Blanca reminds him that his girlfriend is difficult to get along with.

Robert and Julieta go have dinner. Robert asks Julieta that if he were to find his family and they were REALLY different in their ways and customs, would she accept them. Julieta assures him that she would accept them, after all he has accepted her family being the way that they are. She thinks that a family who brought him in to the world must be good. After she tells him his family is probably just like him—calm, normal, he grimaces and tilts his head. She then wonders if he is worried that they would not love her the way he loves them; and reminds him that in her work she has learned to get along with all types, so she should be able to win over his family.

Meanwhile, the Córsegas are all having supper where everyone is talking, except Eugenio…which Imelda notes. When Blanca tells him that those who a doubly quiet hide something, Eugenio shrinks into his chair. Marisol asks him why he doesn’t tell them what he is hiding, he comes back with “why don’t you tell us what you’re hiding?” after which Marisol fills her mouth with food. Imelda, Blanca and Eugenio grill Marisol so she tells them that Ignacio will be going overseas to open new restaurants. Imelda wants him to come say good-bye to them.
 

Ep 14 9/8/2017 Part 3

After dinner, Marisol goes to the girl’s bedroom to call Ignacio. When she hangs up, dnai and Linda come in to talk to her. She tells them it’s not easy to know that she has failed and to be seen as a woman who has been abandoned. Linda and Dani try to comfort her and reassure her that she was a good wife. Their parents surely will understand and support her. She isn’t just fooling the whole family, she is fooling herself. When Linda suggests she might even meet another man, Marisol wants nothing to do with men…for the rest of her life!

Later, Marisol goes into the bakery and swirls her fingers on the floured tabletop. She remembers how her mother had warned her that Ignacio would not make a good husband. She then outs her hands over her face and leaves flour prints all over it. She goes up to the roof top to think. Meantime, Xavi is covering his face with a muddy-type face mask when he hears a woman crying and wonders if “the Llorana” (a mythical lady who cries for her children) is haunting the building. As he goes out, he wraps himself in a blanket and goes out to tap Marisol on the shoulder. They both jump and scream in fright. Marisol then chides him for the way he treated her daughter and pinches his cheeks the way he pinched Frida’s cheeks.

Ana lies in bed thinking about the conversation with Julián and how she saw Eugenio and Robert walk up together earlier in the day.

Both Eugenio and Robert can’t sleep, so they go outside and stand by the JP tree. Eugenio tells Robert how he nourished and water the tree. He saw how the tree, which was a support for him, grew and wondered how much his son had grown. When Eugenio shares that he and his son were best of friends…his son was going to be his accomplice, his co-pilot, Robert wonders if he has considered that that child will not return…even if the DNA results are positive, his son who was lost and is now a man.

In the morning, Julieta notes that Robert was tossing and turning, so he confides that he is unsettled…he feels that his family is close. He also tells her that he saw Eugenio last night and he shared what happened to his son. Julieta hopes that Eugenio’s son found a good family, not his real family…life must have taken him for a reason because everyone in that family is strange. After she persists in insulting his family, Robert gets upset and leaves to the gym before they get into an argument; and Julieta wishes she hadn’t woken up.

As Eugenio and Blanca prepare pastries, Robert arrives. When Eugenio tells Blanca that Robert came for him so they can go to the gym together, Blanca questions since when have they been such good friends. Eugenio tells her to serve him some coffee and sweet bread…and to be nice to Robert because he is a good person; he is going to go change his clothes. Blanca thinks Robert is going to throw fireballs at her because of yesterday’s encounter with Julieta, but he assures her he isn’t. Blanca thinks it’s good that Julieta is just his girlfriend…he should think about it once, twice maybe five times…

Julieta meets up with Gabriel and tells him she is leaving for New York. When she notices the cuts on his face, he tells her he got into a physical altercation with his boss when he got her contract…then he insinuates that is was a “ for whom” and she gets it.

Both Eugenio and Robert receive the call that the results are in…(to be continued next episode!)

 

Rgv Chick, you have just saved the day! Thank you for your incredible, detailed laden recap.

"Robert tells Julieta about the little boy’s mother who they can’t find and has come to the realization that there really are mothers that abandon their children…and other mothers who are misjudged". Robert's heart is now lightened that he wasn't abandoned. He now knows the terrible truth. Well, at least most. Ana's treachery has yet to be revealed.

My eyes teared up at "his son was going to be his accomplice, his co-pilot, Robert wonders if he has considered that that child will not return…even if the DNA results are positive, his son who was lost and is now a man". What would have been cherished childhood memories were never made. I am grateful thought that Robert does have a few loving memories of being with his parents.

I must have missed the scene where Marisol "reproaches him (Xavi) for pinching Frida’s cheeks". I guess this couple is also slated to endure misunderstandings.

Thank you what happened for explaining what happened to Amalia. I thought she looked quite pretty in her orange outfit.

"When Eugenio asks is Robert has told Julieta, Robert responds “no,’ but he thinks it would be good to feel her out". Ummm, really Eugenio? Robert's almost spouse and your wife are fussing and fueding, and the situation is escalating quickly.

I hope Robert tells Julieta, and quickly. Rip off the bandage fast. Otherwise the wound is going to grow and fester fast.

How Julieta reacts to the news will be pivotal. I am confident that she will be happy that Robert has found his parents. I fervently hopes she will combine that with reassurances that everything will be worked out and they will be a family. "After she persists in insulting his family, Robert gets upset and leaves to the gym before they get into an argument; and Julieta wishes she hadn’t woken up" has me very concerned.

David, what a joy it must be to have your son returning from Afghanistan. Total gratitude to him and your family on the deep sacrifice for our country.

Looks to me like Julieta might be going to NYC alone. Mujer, you better slow your roll and take in what's happening with Robert. Ana will have you as miserable and depressed as she is.

Daniela is socially stunted from growing up under the shadow of the loss of JP. She's more like 16 when it comes to guys. Glad Blanca is noticing that Daniela is starting to lighten up. Gabriel is breaking through her tough shell.

Diana, in the episode previous to this one, I wrote a part of a scene that was not shown by Univision:

[Mexican version: Frida is eating outside as Xavi passes by and sticks out her tongue at him. They tell each other that they don’t like each other. He demands respect as does Frida. She yells for her mommy who comes quickly but not quick enough to see Xavi. She goes after him but he hides in a doorway, then sits at a table using a newspaper to hide his face.]

It was during this scene that Xavi pinched Frida's cheeks...right before Frida yelled for her mommy.

Rvg Chick, another great synopsis of the things swirling around Robert/JP, and those who are important to him.

This episode seemed a little chopped up to me, as though we are getting little predictive snippets of how the various personalities involved might react as things unfold:

1. Robert and Eugenio forced to roll with the flow until concrete evidence emerges.

2. Blanca likes everyone except Julieta.

3. Dani's refuge under stress is useful work.

4. Marisol is a momma bear protecting her cub in the face of her disintegrating domestic challenges.

5. Linda is a bit of a user. When accused of wearing a knock off necklace by Julieta, she asserts that it is real, and she got it after working very hard...at talking some guy into buying it for her.

6. Ana is frightened of her own fate. (Is spontaneous human combustion real? If so...)

7. Xavi, the self absorbed, down and out performer interacting with Marisol, possibly his salvation.

After this set up, I can't wait to see what happens Monday!!!

Diana, totally agree with you that ALL scenes with Robert and Eugenio are touching, but especially the one you noted where Robert states the obvious to Eugenio that even if the DNA tests are positive, he has still lost his sons formative years forever.

"Blanca likes everyone except Julieta". That really hit me. Blanca is not always sugar, she is more spice. When I stopped and thought about it, she and Julieta have rather similar personalities, don't they? Fierce, protective and well, straightforward. No syrup here! :)
