Mi marido tiene familia Monday 10/16/17 Capítulo 40: Ana's Emerging Truth

Julieta finds Linda eating on the bed in the guest room during her "break." She yells at Linda for getting spots all over everything and takes her chips away. Linda thinks that Julieta has a double personality. She is all "linda" (lovely) and in love with Juan Pablo but just beastly with her. Julieta reminds her that she is in her own house so she doesn't have to be "linda" (lovely). Furthermore, Linda is the one who just moved herself in and is only there because Julieta loves her brother. Linda concludes that Julieta is like Cinderella wanting to live with her prince so in that case she is going to have to get along with the three step-sisters. Julieta informs her that if she is beastly then the one in danger is Linda. Julieta repeats the prime directive: Linda cannot eat on the bed. She expects Linda back working in five minutes. By the way, if Julieta's little brother didn't let her know he wasn't coming home, Julieta would kill him, so, Linda should be happy she is not her little sister. Linda is left all alone making faces.

Audifaz comes out playing a clown at Aristóteles' dinner with David complete with a whoopie cushion. He even tells David a special story that was just waiting for a special guest to arrive to be told. David loves it. Both boys are totally entertained. Aristóteles texts his dad that he admires him.

Robert does not agree with the way that Eugenio treats Linda and tells him. He reminds Eugenio that all of his daughters are grown women. Eugenio is aggravated that nobody respects him in his own home. As far as he is concerned, it is his house and his rules. Robert tells Eugenio that he wants to learn how to make bread and has fond memories of being with his dad at the bakery as a child. This makes Eugenio very happy. Eugenio remembers Juan Pablo as a child wanting learn how to make bread and is floored by Robert's request. As the lesson starts Eugenio tells Robert he needs clean hands, no watches, no rings. They begin to form some rolls. They decide that the lessons will take place on the weekends.

Ana tells Julián that the saddest day of her life was when they told her she could not have children. She got pregnant several times and had miscarriages. There is something that nobody knows. She confesses that it was on the same day as her last miscarriage that she took Juan Pablo to the orphanage. It happened in the morning and she went out that day disappointed by life, by everything. Julián asks if her husband supported her after her losing the babies. Yes, he did. She thinks that Tulio is one of the few persons that has ever loved her. Julián looks disturbed by that last statement and asks if she thinks that is love. Ana does not know since it must not be easy for a person to love someone who is not in their right mind. Gabriel asks if her husband knows that she stole Juan Pablo. At that moment, Lázaro the driver comes to get her before she can answer. Tulio has called looking for her.

Gabriel is worried about Daniela. She cannot believe she was such a fool about Benjamín for all of those years. Daniela confides in him. She is afraid of never deserving anything good. Look at what she has done. She has limited herself to survival rather than actually living. She doesn't have anything. Gabriel sits down to talk to her. She is no fool. He says sometimes a hug can do more for us than what we would ever expect. Will she take a hug? Yes, she does take the hug from Gabriel. One of the employee's walks in and breaks the spell. He excuses himself looking quite uncomfortable. Daniela has a fleeting smile when the hug is over.

Audifaz is taking off his makeup. Aristóteles thanks him for telling David the story. Audifaz starts crying because of his feelings of his inadequacy. Aristóteles hugs him and tells him he is proud of him.

Linda is still acting the fool. Since she does not know how to mop a floor it is covered in soap bubbles. She reminds Julieta that she told her she didn't know how to mop floors. Julieta sends her to her room. Robert comes home. Julieta had her turn in handling the "Linda" situation. Now it is his turn. He tells Linda it is time for her to go home. Linda calls Julieta a witch. Robert tells her enough is enough. She is a grown woman. Linda shows no respect in her own brother's house. Linda adds it is a "brother" who she does not know. Linda continues with how he has always been the center of attention for as long as she has live. Robert admits it must have been terrible but he wasn't responsible for getting taken. They hem and haw as Robert tries to pull her out of the guest room amd take her home.

Robert and Julieta return Linda to her family. Linda addresses her parents. She doesn't care if Eugenio cuts her hair as punishment but they are all going to have to listen to her. Linda explodes: Juan Pablo was always the focus of the family when he was missing and he is still the focus now that has come back. They don't really care about her. Nobody has time for her. Nobody knows her. They just put out rules for her without even consulting her. She knows she was the girl who was never wanted. She leaves the scene. Marisol tells Eugenio and Blanca they have to go and talk to Linda because she feels so very bad.

Tulio is waiting for Ana at home. He tells Ana he knows her secret. She was responsible for Juan Pablo's disappearance. That day he went after her to assure her that everything was going to be just fine. That was when he saw her take Juan Pablo. Ana asks why he didn't he do something to stop her? He admits that he wasn't doing well himself and was full of resentment. He said nothing to anyone in order to protect her. She is the only woman he has ever loved. He left her all alone. She asks if that was love? For him it was. He had to protect her.

Eugenio and Blanca go to talk to Linda in her room. Eugenio admits that he has been distant but that doesn't mean that doesn't mean he doesn't worry about her. He has three daughters to take care of and to protect. Sometimes, Linda isn't very open either. Blanca adds that they are old and sometimes they don't know how to understand a girl like her. Eventhough they would never abandon her, the important thing is that she FELT like they had abandoned her. Blanca has Linda come over to give her a hug. Eugenio explains to Linda that for a parent each child is important like one of the fingers on his own hand. He loves them all the same. Linda says that it is different with Juan Pablo. Eugenio shrugs his shoulders but insists that if he were to lose anyone of them, he would feel the same pain. Linda is the youngest and the one who touches him the most. Blanca says she loves her. She is amd will always her baby. Linda agrees to forgive them. Eugenio makes a bad joke about Blanca giving him the scissors to cut off Linda's hair but then adds that if he runs into that boy she left with, he'll be the one to end up bald. They all end up in one big hug.

As they are cleaning, Robert feels bad about Linda. Julieta reminds him they told Blanca that they would make sure she went home. Robert feels guilty about it all. Julieta adds that everybody in the family has a problem. Linda is the baby of the family. Rober thinks that it must be hard for her to talk to his parents with her having been born eighteen years after him. Julieta says the same thing happened in the case of her youngest brother. What a nightmare that would be if Linda and Bruno two ever met! Just imagine! Robert agrees. Robert decides he wants to make a supper for the whole family. He has just the thing that will help them all.

As he is preparing supper, Robert has a video chat with his adoptive parents who are in Barcelona. He is bringing them up to date on how things are progressing little by little with his birth parents. His step father says he just needs to give his family love and time like they gave him when he arrived in their home. They are all getting ready for the wedding.

Back at the restaurant, Benjamín arrives with his fiancée. The fiancée starts making fun of Daniela working as a waitress when she was the smartest one in school. Gabriel leads them to believe that Daniela is the manager as he waits on the table. That way she will have time to chat with her "friends". They are there to personally give Daniela an invitation to their wedding! Later Daniela opens it and soon is in tears. She remembers Benjamín saying he will always remember her. He cannot forget her. Gabriel watches over her.

Robert and Julieta are at the market. He always feels something while he is there. He asks her to leave him alone for just a bit. She does. Robert has a flashback to that fateful day in the market. He remembers asking for a popsicle, screaming for his mother and then being led away by somebody.

Robert is cooking and gets a call from his nurse Leonor at the hospital. It seems that a young foreign woman is looking for him.

Rafa comes to see Xavi. His message is that Xavi's best days are behind him in the music business where youth calls the shots. He needs to accept reality. Marisol overhears him and lets him have it as president of the Xavi Galán Fan Club. How dare Rafa kill somebody's dreams! Rafa says this is the last time Xavi the "ex-Galán" (Galán being a leading man/hero/hunk)will be seeing him. He leaves running as Xavi holds Marisol back. Xavi agrees with Rafa that the music business is for the young. Marisol refuses to accept that. There are a lot of older musicians like Madonna, Mick Jagger, Bono. She tells him not to give up. They can start small and grow his fan base.

For that evening Robert has made a slide show to show his family all about his life. As he grew up, he liked sports a lot. His step brothers and sisters appear. Next they see his adoptive parents. They spoiled him a lot when he was little but scolded him a lot when he got older. Next there is a photo from s graduation party. A girl named Daphne appears to be hanging on Robert. She is a friend and also an orphan. She was always like a little sister to Robert. She lived near his house. They went to the same university. She ended up being a psychologist. Julieta looks "interested."

Next we see the mystery woman who is back at the hospital again to ask about Robert. She does not give her name. She will return tomorrow and wants it to be a surprise.

Robert's presentation takes him to the present time with Julieta and his newly found family. Robert thanks them all. Now Robert has a surprise for them. He has coupons for everybody with a gift written on it. Daniela gets the first one because he knows that she was unable to celebrate her birthday For so long because of him. She gets an invitation to breakfast just with her brother Juan Pablo. Blanca gets Juan Pablo for a whole day. Eugenio gets to go out and about with Juan Pablo. Ana gets a coupon which grants forgiveness for any mistake she might have made without consideration for the damage it may have caused. In front of the whole family, Robert asks Ana what mistake she wants to be forgiven for. Silence follows and a tear falls down her cheek.

Who would have thought that Tulio was complicit in the whole Juan Pablo mess? What will Ana answer? Talk about uncomfortable questions . . . even if she hadn't kidnapped Juan Pablo.

Jarifa: I thought the same thing.

Jarifa, marvelous. Perfect title.

"Julieta repeats the prime directive" and so many other fantastic lines made me smile.

The sweet (everything Juan Pablo) and the sour (everything Ana) assaulted our senses. Simply loved the flashback where Eugenio was showing a young Juan Pablo how to make bread. Kudos to both sets of actors for making all the father and son scenes touching and memorable.

“That was when he saw her take Juan Pablo”. So, Tulio knew! Color me shocked.

Juan Pablo’s frantic (and far too realistic) calling for his mother in the market was very disconcerting. So, he did remember what happened?

I was sitting on the edge of my seat as Ana's prize was read. What will she say?? How will everyone react?? I am shocked.

Robert and Julieta continue to compliment each other. Perfectly. Yin and yang.

Weren’t Robert’s adoptive parents lovely? How comforting to know there are wonderful people in real life out there.

And Rene Casados’ clown was so sweet. No wonder Ari was so moved! As was I. Polita is Audi’s biggest and most valuable supporter. He is so fortunate to have her!

Linda’s outburst did garner pity from her parents. From me? Not so much. Had it been Marisol or Dani, I could understand. Will clearing her conscience by unburdening herself, throwing even more guilt on her parents help her? I should care but I don’t. She had to ruin Robert’s surprise by answering her phone.

Ahhh, so Ben’s girlfriend IS a beyotch! And although I liked him immediately, how can I not root for Gabi, taking the scene in at a glance, stepping in to support Dani, watching her crying and vacillating between giving her space and swooping in to help!

So many other things to love - Marisol coming quickly to her friend's defense, the warmth and love flowing at the family gathering. I cannot imagine what Ana is going to do!

Jarifa, every word was so well written and perfectly described. Thank you!

Diana

Jarifa, a wonderfully written recap with all those important details, thank you!

So much happened last night, I don't even know where to start.

I enjoyed seeing Audifaz entertain, David. And the message Aris sent him, then the hug were so touching, but it seemed it wasn't enough for Audi. It surprised me that Aris had never heard the story his father wrote, though. I wonder why Audi has never thought of writing his storied down. He asked Aris if he would be proud of a father who was a writer; does he think that "writers" are not worthy of admiration?

I also enjoyed seeing Juls get after Linda when she was eating on the bed, but, oh, did she pay for it when Linda was attempting to "mop" How much soap did the girl use??

Although Linda does have alot of resentment tat could be justified, She had good arguments, but she over dramatized...If I didn't know better, I'd think she could have been CatDQ's daughter.

Tulio knew!! what a shocker! He may have been going through a lot too, but does not justify him going along with what Ana did. He could have found a way to return Juan Pablo to his family without incriminating Ana. His resentment was with his mother, not with Eugenio and Blanca,so how could he live with knowing he was causing his own brother so much pain. Both Ana and Tulio are unforgivable...they deserve each other.

Diana, ITA that flashback about Eugenio teaching JP how to make bread was so tender. I'm so glad Robert is remembering some happy times. Now, when he was in the market with Julieta and had the flashback, did he remember who took him? Is that how he came up with Ana's prize for the game?

I'm a little confused about the game. They were choosing their prizes without looking, so weren't the prizes supposed to be random? If so, how did Ana manage to select the coupon that was so appropriate for her?

Diana. about Gabi..."And although I liked him immediately, how can I not root for Gabi, taking the scene in at a glance, stepping in to support Dani, watching her crying and vacillating between giving her space and swooping in to help!" Gabi is so much fun to watch as he struggles with trying to (or not trying to) show his feelings for Dani. At least he got his hug in :-)

Marisol coming to Xavi's defense was so fitting to her character. I know it was supposed to be a serious moment, but I had to laugh throughout..as did Xavi...he couldn't contain himself.

Wonderful Jarifa!!

OMG the whole Tulio and Ana convo was crazy. Boy are these two a mess.

I think Robert made it sound like the gifts were random but had them in the order he wanted. I don't know what to think though. He remembers Ana taking him to the orphanage now but doesn't confront her. Instead he gives her forgiveness with the coupon? Unless he is using the coupon to get her to confess, knowing she will be forgiven by him. I don't see anyone else forgiving her.

Where was abuela? She was noticeably missing.

So Ben's fiance is awful. He can't marry her. I think love triangle is still a possibility. Gabi was super nice and funny watching him not know how to help Dani so just watching from afar.

I actually felt bad for Linda when she was crying to her parents. I hope her attitude now shows a significant improvement.

Carvivlie, I am even more impressed with Robert (if humanly possible) that he found such a clever way for Ana to confess her guilt. I have thought all along that Robert would likely forgive her and would never let her go to prison. But as you so insightfully pointed out "I don't see anyone else forgiving her". Nor do I! I see her alone and shunned.

But they will not be alone. As RgvChick wisely noted "Both Ana and Tulio are unforgivable...they deserve each other". Perhaps that will be their punishment. Enduring each other until the end of their particular eternity.

Diana

I'm not saying that their punishment has been enough, but the past 34 years has been hell for both of them.

I wonder if Julian plans to blackmail Tulio, which is why he kept pressing to know if he knew the truth.

Another wonderful recap, Jarifa! It was hilarious when RobPablo and Julieta said that Linda was even worse than Bruno and hoped they would never meet. If they only knew! I loved Eugenio's and Blanca's conversation with Linda. After that she should at least know she was loved and not have such an easy excuse for her bad behavior. Great metaphor of the fingers on Eugenio's part.

Carvivlie, you have been blessed with a good, kind heart.

I am sure many agree with you Tulio and Ana have suffered (and it appears in their own respective silence).

Yet, each and every day another emotional scar is revealed. While the family was strong enough not to be decimated, the wounds are still raw.

It will be very interesting to see what happens tonight. Perhaps the family does need and deserve the chance to rant, rave and rightfully vent their anger at Ana once they hear the truth. I cannot say what the aftermath will reveal. Perhaps after the fire is fueled and burned, it may be extinguished by forgiveness.

If they can do that, then bless them.

Diana

Jarifa - Thank you for the recap.

I've got five minutes here, so I'll keep it brief.

What a shock that Tulio knew! And did NOTHING!!!

I would have made Linda help clean up the soap suds on the floor.

Did JuanP know which "coupon" Ana was going to get?

Ben's fiance is a *itch.

Funny how Juli's pregnancy symptoms disappeared as soon as everyone was told. LOL

I like Robert's adoptive parents. Do they know Juls is pregnant? Seems like they should be told. They raised him!

Thanks for your kind comments, everyone, and for stopping by.

Doris, I do think that Robert knew exactly which coupon each person was going to get. The first three coupons were tailored to the recipients' particular need. I wonder what inspired Robert to make up that particular coupon for Ana. Here is hoping we have a satisfactory explanation for putting Ana on the hot seat.
