Mi marido tiene familia Monday 10/23/17 Capítulo 44: Julieta's Nightmare

A little news: "Mi marido" just ended in Mexico with a total of 100 episodes and a two hour gran final just as planned. Yay! No extensions! Yay! :)

Now on to tonight's episode. . .

A bad memory for Julieta: Catalina lectures Julieta on what she views as the realities of life as a woman. No matter what Julieta does it will never be enough. Julieta does not agree. She thinks a woman can be an excellent worker, an excellent, wife and an excellent mother. Catalina reminds her there is a great distance in between what she thinks about life and what life really is. If she gets married someday, she will have the fear of losing her husband like Catalina lost hers and the fear of being a mother and not knowing how to do that well. That fear will make her ugly and old.

In the following scene, we see Julieta in her office counteracting the bad memory with writing to her unborn child of her new fears and how she is ready to face them and be the best mother for her/him.

Daphne and Robert talk again at the hospital. She really does not want Robert to see her as a problem. He mentions that he has good memories of her and he hopes she behaves because he would not like to have to put space between them. He wants her to understand that. She just was feeling differently than he but now she understands. Daphne wants to know why he didn't tell Julieta that she was working there at the hospital. He didn't feel it was important. How did she know he didn't tell Julieta? Julieta let it drop when Daphne ran into her. Maybe Julieta is just a little jealous. Robert agrees just maybe the tiniest bit.

Julieta asks Luz if she is selfish. She has so many fears from so many years. Luz says she doesn't have to open the door for those fears. Julieta informs her about Daphne working at Robert's hospital and how he had not said anything to her about it. Luz tells her not to think so much and just live her life and not get carried away by her insecurities.

Aristóteles decides to forgo Polita's invitation to study for the competition and just wait for his dad.

In the meantime, Audifaz is selling a nose/ear hair trimmer for 20 pesos on the bus. His demonstration is a failure as the trimmer seems to trim his nose and not the hairs. Everybody laughs. With a bloody nose, he goes on sellng blaming himself and not the trimmer.

The dance exercise class gets a visiting dancer instructor named Dio Hondares to demonstrate some new moves and provide some inspiration. From The get go, Amalka does all she can to be noticed. As he dances, Blanca's eyes almost pop out of her head. Amalia volunteers to dance with Dio. She barely moves but it is evident she is doing it trying to her Enzo the dance instructor jealous. Later she is jealous because Enzo is spending time dancing with Belén. Amalia is angry. When she complains to Enzo that she didn't get the moves he was showing them, he tells her to follow Belén.

Robert is again telling Octavio that he is still stuck on finding out who that woman was who took him by the hand out of the market place and to the orphanage. It is turning into a kind of obsession. Octavio reminds him it would be hard to find her after 34 years. Octavio asks what would happen if the woman were to turn out to be somebody known to him. Robert insists she would have to explain a lot of things to him. Octavio thinks that sometimes it is dangerous to go digging up the past. Would Robert just letting go of the past leave him in a more tranquil place in his life?

Imelda notices that Ana has been distracted and tells her she can count on her to tell her whatever she wants. She is like a daughter to her. Lázaro answers a call from Tulio checking up on Ana again. He tells Tulio she has been wothnhis mother all of the time. Tulio doesn't believe him and threatens to fire him. Ana is angry when she finds out. Lázaro is her driver not her vigilante.

Imelda talks to Blanca about Ana acting strange. Blanca admits that Ana has always been that way. Imelda insists she has gotten worse since Juan Pablo's return. Today her attacks of envy returned. Imelda makes sure that Blanca knows that Ana was always envious of her. Blanca does not believe it. She thinks of Ana as a great friend. That is a part of the past.

Tulio brings up one more time that if the family ever were to find out about her stealing Juan Pablo she would be on the outside. Ana refuses to be blackmailed. She doesn't need him. Tulio wants Ana and him to give their marriage another try. Ana will not be doing that because there is no hope for her and Tulio. Also, she is sick of her driver spying on her for Tulio. The driver told her as much.

Amalia is still upset and jealous and accuses Belén of using her singing and dancing talents so Enzo the instructor would notice her. Belén is not taking it and won't be treated that way. Amalia warns Belén off of Enzo the dance instructor. He is for her. Belén already had a husband. Amalia sees Enzo as her last chance and she won't be losing it.

América goes to see Daniela at the restaurant to ask her to be her maid of honor. Daniela refuses the offer. She advises América to go see Benjamín and ask him if he still wants to get married to her. América is shaken.

Julia is being overrun by her fears and insecurities. She hears Daphne and her comments about what pregnancy does to a marriage and a woman. In her sleep, she has a nightmare where she gains a whole lot of weight and Daphne is there to make fun of her and steal Robert. Robert cannot even get his arms around her to hug her but he sure can hug Daphne. When she wakes up, Robert wants to know what is going on. Julieta tells him all. She does not want to lose him. Everything is changing. Why is that woman working at his hopostal? Why didn't he tell her? Robert reassures her she has nothing to fear because he will always be there for her. He asks why now. She just has been going through so many changes so quickly. Robert agrees because life is constant change and they cannot live frozen in place. Robert fell in love with her, not Daphne. He wants to see the strong and balanced woman he fell in love with. She doesn't know what happened to her. She just needs Robert more than ever. Robert finally admits she is right about the speed with which things are changing and especially to her. She makes sure he kmows that when he doesn't tell her things, it just makes it all worse. He loves her no matter what.

Gabriel tries to cheer up a very depressed Daniela following her on the street. She needs a shoulder to cry on. Gabriel gets her to think of him as her friend as well as her boss. He will go with her wherever she is going this evening. She is going to a carpintry shop that will let her work there. He still will accompany her. She says that she thinks less when she is working. He puts his arm around her and tells her she can tell him about the horrible things that
won't let her think.

Audifaz is trying to quiz Aristóteles on historical facts for the competitio but is too tired and falls asleep. Aristóteles gets to dry the "Tuppers" for Polita after she has washed them.

Xavi is grateful for what Marisol did for him. He thinks that he is going to be offered a deal to sell his music. Marisol is happy.

Eugenio wakes up in the middle night all nervous about giving Juan Pablo bread baking classes. He is not good at teaching. Suddenly, Blanca wonders why Juan Pablo didn't ask her to teach him how to bake. Eugenio says it is because he is Juan Pablo's father. He asks her not to make a contest out of it. Doesn't she remember when Juan Pabloo was little and he wanted to get grown up so he could help out Eugenio in the bakery. Eugenio is nervous because he is going to fulfill his son's dream. Nlanca tell him they he surely will.

Robert tells Julieta about the bread baking classes. Robert invites her to take classes with him but she turns him down. He will provide her with all the bread she wants for her pregnancy. On second thought remembering her nightmare, she thinks that might not be such a good idea. She does not want to gain weight.

Daniela happily works on some carpintery.

The next day, Eugenio gets the baker's cap on Robert's head and is so happy that life is giving him this gift that he thought he never would have. Eugenio just knows that Robert will do well because Eugenio knows that he carries that talent in his DNA, in his blood. Eugenio is a real philosopher about his bread baking. Artisan bread is made with patience and dedication. You have to think that you are feeding people. Your bread will be on people's tables. Robert notices what love Eugenio speaks about his job with. Eugenio emphasizes that this is how he has made a living to support his family. Yes, he has a lot of love for his job. The lesson starts.

Julieta runs into Blanca as she goes to throw out her correctly sorted garbage. Blanca's wash machine isn't working and she wants to know if she can come by Julieta's and use her washer. Julieta assures her there is no problem and let's her in. Blanca enters Julieta's apartment with her dirty clothes. If Julieta stays to do laundry with her, she will show her some laundry "tricks" like how to save water. Julieta wasn't planning on doing this today but seems okay with it. Blanca sees it as an opportunity to share something. Blanca mentions Robert spending time with Juan Pablo and not her. Julieta says Blanca feels replaced, right? Julieta mentions Robert making plans and not even telling her. Sometimes she feels just like Blanca. Robert says it must be her hormones because of the pregnancy. Blanca sure can tell her about hormones after having four children. She completely understands. Julieta wonders aloud why it has to be like this and starts crying. Blanca tells her not to worry because that is how pregnancy is. After the first trimester things are going to get better. Julieta feels so unstable. Blanca is going to take care of her. Julieta thanks her mamá suegra. First thing, Blanca will make sure she is getting her eight hours of sleep a night. Now, on to laundry.

Robert accidentally gets a face full of flour as Eugenio flicks his hand. Eugenio considers it his baptism as a baker. Eugenio starts directing him on what to do. Eugenio confesses he was nervous about the lessons at first. There were so many things he missed doing with/teaching him. Robert has a flash from the past and tells Eugenio it is the memory of a woman leading him by the hand from the market place. He never can see who she is.

Blanca and Julieta chit chat as they do laundry. Julieta is only waiting for the church to set the date for the wedding. Julieta asks if Blanca really likes washing clothes. Blanca admits that she was brought up differently than Julieta. She was raised that it was her job to do this for her family. The man is in charge. Julieta adds that the woman should be, too. They are a team. Blanca sees men and women as having different functions. Julieta sees men and women as partners who are both worth the same. Blanca saysnat first she was shocked by Julieta's ideas but now that is what she likes about Julieta.evemthough she might think differently, she likes Julieta, she admires her. Julieta just smiles.

Linda is still crying in her bed. Daniela gets on her case. She tells Linda that there is something wrong with her if she wants somebody to be with her out of pity. She needs to show what she is worth. Daniela tells her she is addicted to drama. Linda attacks back telling Linda she has a hard heart and no love in her life. Daniela tells her she is wrong. Sp,etc,es she suffers more than Linda will ever know. Linda asks really? Well, then Daniela should just tell Benjamín not to get married. Daniela tries to pull Limda out of bed and then beats her with the pillow of life that is going to keep hurting her until she gets up and stops it from hurting her. Daniela finally pops up and says that is enough. Daniela says that is now what she has to do with life.

Imelda is eating with Marisol and Frida. Imelda is going to do Frida's hair.

Julieta has a hard time believing her father in law is a macho. Blanca insists that he is but he does have a nice side. Eugenio changed a lot after Juan Pablo was lost. Julieta says nobody can force a woman to be only of service to her home and follow the orders of her family. For Blanca, it is complicated. She likes pleasing her family, feeding them, keeping a clean home, doing laundry, taking care of her children. Juulieta asks if there is something that Blanca doesn't like. Blanca doesn't feel valued or when she is not consulted for certain decisions. Nobody asks what she would like to do. She also has desires. Julieta asks how many. Blanca says a lot but they are all pretty simple. Blanca would like to be more independent and, for example, learn how to drive. On the spot, Julieta decides that she is going to teach Blanca how to drive. They drop the laundry until later and Blanca has her first driving lesson.

I really liked the scene with Julieta and Blanca doing laundry and finding out more about Blanca.

Too bad that Daphne is still around.

Jarifa: Let's hope Daphne gets her anvil soon!

That would be nice, Steve.

Jarifa, loved this. It flowed beautifully and captured all the highlights and lowlights perfectly.

"She has so many fears from so many years". Thank you (not) Cat...

"Blanca is going to take care of her. Julieta thanks her mamá suegra" - a relationship is growing and flourishing.

Robert still ruminates on the woman who abducted him. “Would Robert just letting go of the past leave him in a more tranquil place in his life?” Ummm, no. Octavio may be a good friend but posed a ridiculous question as a medical professional given the circumstances.

Dani “advises América to go see Benjamín and ask him if he still wants to get married to her”. From most, these words would have been cruel but from Dani? Spunk and honesty!

There was so much to savor. Blanca's wide eyed stare at the dancing. Gabi's tender ministrations to Dani. Audi on the bus, trying so hard! I liked that the passengers seemed to be laughing with him, not at him. Eugenio and Robert's throwing the flour during the baking lesson, carefree and happy. Marisol and Xavi holding hands, encouraging and supporting.

I did not enjoy Julieta's romp in the "fat suit". Nor did I like Amalia's jealousy and rude behavior (I mean really, how unlikeable are they going to try and make this character??). Daphne. Linda.

And Ana and Tulio are like rabid wolves, circling each other with hate and malice. Basta.

Those minor issues aside, I like that Julieta is being honest with how she is feeling and that she is turning to Blanca, who has a monumental task in trying to erase all the poison Cat has infused in Julie's ear lo these many years.

Blanca looks like she'll be hell on wheels. Can't wait to see!

Jarifa, you've made my day. Thank you!

Diana

Diana, thank you! I really have high hopes for Julieta and Blanca's "growing and flourishing relationship" as you put it. Your image of Ana and Tulio as circling rabid wolves fits that situation perfectly. I can see them in my mind's eye. It is so nice having such a good show to look forward to and such a great patio to watch it with.

Thanks Jarifa for the awesome recap. 100 episodes? We're about halfway there. Nice.

Three things I loved about this episode:
1. Blanca and Julieta's moment in the laundry room. (I agree with both of you Jarifa and Diana) It looks like the start of a great relationship as opposed to how it first started. I have a feeling those driving lessons are going to be hilarious.
2. The way Gabe hesitated before putting his arm around Dani and also him saying: "He will go with her wherever she is going....." foreshadowing line anyone? As much as I love their"song" it was nice to finally see a scene where it wasn't played. It made the scene sweet and stronger.
3 Dani hitting Linda with the pillow. I'm sure all of us here want to hit Linda with a pillow

Robert didn't say when asked what would happen if it was someone he knew. But just in case good thing Ana has that coupon.

"Ummm, no. Octavio may be a good friend but posed a ridiculous question as a medical professional given the circumstances." I agree, Diana.

As if Ana and Tulio couldn't get any weirder...Tulio demanding to know her location is so controlling and unhealthy. What kind of love is this? I don't how this is going to work out...

Julieta is letting the insecurities in the back of her head take over. No Julieta! Robert loves you not the invasive girl from so many years ago who's walking in where she doesn't belong.

Eugenio teaching Robert to make bread was so cute. These are the family moments I'm here for!

-Jackie

Thanks Jarifa!!!

Julieta teaching Blanca to drive? The streets aren't safe with that speed demon on the road.

Gabi and Dani were sweet. Dani was harsh with America but I think America knows something is up otherwise she wouldn't have asked Dani to be her maid of honor.

I thought Rob knew it was Ana, which was the whole reason for giving her that forgiveness card. I'm confused now.

Thanks, Jarifa.

Hilarious. I loved René Casados in this scene. It looked like they shot it on a real bus ride with “real people,” not actors. They all must've had a ball watching René cut up (no pun intended).

Julieta's dream. Goodness, where is all the confidence that woman used to have? Come on, Julieta. Don't let Daphne do this to you.

Carvivlie, it is confusing. I thought sure Robert knew it was Ana when he gave her the "get out of jail" card at the gathering too! But, alas, she didn't confess. There have been a few quick shots where Robert is "seeing" his abduction but the figure is still faceless. He hasn't quite "seen" her. I have no doubt he will.

Jackie, I can't decide if I like Robert and Eugenio or Robert and Blanca's scenes together better. They are all great!

Niecie, Rene as Padre Tadeo in FELS was my favorite, but this is slightly edging that performance out. He is so versatile and talented.

Diana

Jarifa, thanks you for such a fantastically written recap.

Diana, love your descriptors of the characters and events. You always seem to capture the essence of the characters.

I didn't care for the nightmare either, but the costumer did a pretty good job. It's really not surprising to me that Julieta is feeling insecure...she's getting it from all sides and only has Luz as a sounding board, though Luz does give her some good advice. Now, at least Robert is realizing just how much everything is affecting Julieta, including her hormones.

I wonder why Tulio is so controlling and suspicious of Ana. Does he suspect something? And does the man ever go to work?

Gabriel was such a gentleman...loved the way he got his arm around Dani...smooth one! I thought Dani was going to make a face, but she accepted it...they really looked nice walking together.

Jackie, I liked the making bread scene too! Eugenio is really coming out of the hard shell he was in. Throwing flour at Rob was totally unexpected.

Carvivlie and Diana, that scene where Robert gave Ana the coupon did cause some confusion. I too thought he remembered, but he has been suspecting she has been hiding something, especially after he saw her with Julian; so maybe he gave her that coupon hoping she would reveal whatever secret she is hiding.

I think all agree that Robert chose the people specially to receive the coupons. Didn't Robert have a flashback where his younger self greets Ana and she is kind of mean to him? Maybe he was trying to find out what that was all about, why he felt she was hostile towards him as a kid but I don't think he suspects it's Ana quite yet.

RgvChick, I think Tulio wonders why Ana goes out so much especially now that Juan Pablo is back and doesn't need to be with the Corcega's all the time, and that causes him to suspect something strange is going on. I'm not sure. That's a good question. And yes I agree. Dani and Gabriel looked nice walking together. Did you see how he rested his head on hers for a second?

I love all of Robert's moments with his parents. It's nice to see how he's basically started from the bottom. I wish we would see more of him and each of his sisters. And why not his aunts? They're like strangers to him at this point in my opinion.

-Jackie

Another excellent recap, Jarifa! We are lucky to have you. I'm glad that Blanca and Julieta are bonding, but does Juls have a death-by-car wish? First the Bruno car chase and now teaching her mother-in-law to drive? What could possibly go wrong? :) Yep, I figured Audifaz would be selling defective products. Could his clever and funny demonstrations of those products possibly lead to some kind of job as a professional comic? That does seem to be his talent.

Jarifa - Thank you for the recap!

Jackie - I noticed Dani and Gab's heads and also thought that was sweet.

Not much else to say that has not already been said here.

* * * IS IT OUR TV OR DOES THE SOUND VOLUME CHANGE ON ITS OWN?
At least once per capítulo, the sound volume varies. In this episode, last night, it happened before Dani started hitting not-so-Linda with the pillow. Mid-sentence, the volume went up and I had to grab my remote and turn it down. I'm just wondering if it is our reception or TV. We do not have this happen with other shows we record.

I have some good/bad news for you people. It was announced a few days ago that Mi Marido is getting a second season in 2018 alongside La Piloto& Estella Carillo. No news for Mujeres de Negro though even though I have wished for a new season . Mi Marido was very popular in Mexico so it seems Rosy has rewarded him with a new season. Ironically Rosy is at odds with Silvia Pinal. Also where in the blue hell will Osorio find new, interesting ideas for a new season?

Thanks for the kind comments and you're welcome!

Jackie, I never thought about the "foreshadowing". That is a good one.

Niecie, I loved the "pun"!

Carvivlie, I think all that Robert has ever remembered about Ana was, as Jackie pointed out, that she had been mean to him and now on top of that she is hanging around with that sleaze ball Julián as RgvChick pointed out.

RgvChick, I didn't like Gabriel at the beginning but sure am liking him now.

SpanProf, yes, that would be a perfect job for Audifaz if he could make some money at it.

doris, I haven't had any volume problems. What a pain !

I am going to side with Blanca and blame Julieta's loss of confidence on hormones to which I will also add one too many major life changes in too short of a time.

Btw did you know that Silvia Pinal is mother of Sylvia Pasqual? Her deceased husband is also father of Rocio Banquellis (The evil mother in Cuando Me Enamoro)

Oh Countx 2nd seasons worry me. I didn't like the ending of La Pilota--amongst some other things in that one--and I think it was bec they were already planning for a season 2. I hope the powers that be didn't plan for a season 2 of Mi Marido before the end of filming. In terms of storylines, I guess they can get a lot of mileage out of the kids Rob and Juli will have.

Silvia Pasquel and Rocio Banquells are half-sisters. Actually, Silvia Pasquel real last name, is Banquells.

I didn't like Gabriel in the beginning either, Jarifa. I think as we gotten to learn more about him we realized he's actually a good character.

I'm kind of happy to hear there's a season 2. As long as it's just as lighthearted and fun to watch I will definitely check it out. I don't watch a lot of TNs so I haven't had bad "sequel" experiences.

Will it be the same cast? Maybe there's another woman who gets stuck with the "familia política" or maybe the roles are changed and it's "my wife got a family" haha Guess we'll find out soon.

-Jackie
