Caer en Tentacion #8, 10/25/17: The Body

Guys I'm super tired cause it's been a long day, so tonights recap will be short, please feel free to add anything I might have missed.

We start the episode where we left off last night, a body has been found and Antonio wants this information to be kept from the press, unfortunately for him his lead detective is married to a journalist who is looking for the story that will get her career back on track and somehow she's learned of the new discovery and has shown up at the scene with her camera people. Antonio barks at Fernando to get the situation under control but it seems to be a little to late for that. I have a suggestion! Antonio should take Fernando off the case, surely he has other detectives on staff who aren't married to a rabid member of the press. But does he? Nooooo. And let me add that I wish the writers had made Laura a mute instead of giving her a limp. I can't stand her!

At Santiago and Carolina's house Nicolas is having a crisis, he asks Lola what they will do about Benjamin if their mother does not come back, what if they never see her again, what if she's dead? And what kind of mother leaves her children? Nicolas, that's what we all want to know.

Lola's troubles in the past get a little bit worse, not only is Andres an uber stalker, but her gym teacher also has the hots for her, and so does her friend Patricia, who drugs her (in order to keep the creep Miguel from touching her). Patricia let's Lola know that she's into her and when Lola rejects her Patricia screams at her that nothing is over until she says it's over.

Raquel pays Santiago a visit, she has doubts about something that happened three years ago and she needs to ask him a very hard question: Did he attempt to kill Damian and Carolina after learning of the affair?

Flashback: Three years ago Santiago expressed to Raquel that Carolina was acting strange, she was distant, quiet and always in a bad mood, this leads Raquel to believe that maybe Carolina was having an affair, although we don't know if she believes the affair is with Damian.

Gabriela, Raquel's ex-bestie sent Raquel a text message warning her again about Carolina and Damian, Raquel does not tell Damian about Gabriela's suspicion but she does hint at something being wrong. Damian tells her that Gabriela is probably jealous of her new friendship with Carolina and suggests that she hang out with Gabriela because she has been neglecting her.

The next morning Raquel calls Gabriela to chastise her for sending the text, Gabriela argues that as her friend she has a duty to tell her when something is wrong and warns her to be careful with Carolina- Raquel tells her that the only person she needs to be careful around is her and then hangs up on Gabriela. Raquel then calls Carolina to see if she's available for coffee as she's only a block away from her house and this is where things get complicated, because Carolina is not home alone, she's with Damian.

Carolina freaks out and begs Damian to leave, she had already tried to break things off with him because she's not comfortable with the fact that both Andres and Gabriela have caught on to the fact that she and Damian have something going on. She of course wants to end things AFTER almost doing the deed with Damian in her kitchen and Damian finally leaves.

Raquel shows up at Carolina's house later and asks her if she's having an affair, and Carolina tells her that she's not, if she's changing it's because she's adjusting to all the new things in her life but she assures Raquel that she loves her husband. Uhhu, sure you do.

Raquel later admits to Santiago that she was having a small bout of jealousy- but she doesn't tell him who she's jealous of and I'm starting to think that Raquel knew about the affair before Santiago did.

Back in the present Santiago tells Raquel that he loved his wife and that he never would have hurt her. Then he suggests that she too could have tried to kill Damian. FYI, poor Lola, whose mother is missing has now heard Raquel ask her father if he killed her mother. I feel for ya Lola.

Andres, man looking to get his face smashed in. He makes comments to Damian about Carolina and basically tells Damian that he thinks the two are having a affair and warns Damian that he will lose everything if he continues down the Carolina path. Damian tells him not to say anything about Carolina and to respect her or else he will bash his face in and omg I kinda wanna see that.

We also see Miriam and Andres having a conversation about keeping Carolina away from Damian, they have to be careful because they don't want to upset Damian, if they upset him and he leaves the corporation they all all doomed. Andres calls someone and offers them money, he tells the other person on the line that the deal is about women and that he needs to come to the office ASAP.

In the present Andres is looking for a check book in Damian's office and makes a total mess while looking for it. He demands that Damian's assistant go in and clean the office but she refuses. She tells him she does not work for him and does not have to follow his directions, he tells her to resign her post but again she refuses. She tells him that as long as Damian is alive she will continue to look after him and his interests and also tells him that she has the checkbook. She dares him to fire her and reminds him that he will then have to explain to Miriam why he did so, and whose side does he think Miriam will take? I like this lady, she's ballsy. Someone remind me to learn her name.

In the past again Damian offers to give Santiago more work, he feels bad for Mia's accusation againstNacho and offers to have Nacho take on a project at the office so he won't be uncomfortable working at the Becker's house, he even offers more money for the job. Santiago questions why Damian is doing so much for them and Damian answers "because I feel guilty for doing your wife" - okay, that didn't happen but we all know that's what's going on!

Finally, back to the present time Antonio calls Santiago and tells him to go to the location where the body was found. Santiago rushes there and finds that the body is in fact Carolina.

Mia calls her grandmother to tell her Carolina has been found, and Miriam shares this with Damian who then goes into cardiac arrest.

Come back tomorrow for more!

Thank you, Princess Juju, for that snappy recap. I like your humor on this dark drama. I am still looking for someone to like besides Benjamin . Heavy.

Thanks Juju!

Lola sure has creeps surrounding her. First Andres, her gym teacher and Patricia. Hope she'll find a way to get around these creeps!

No one seems to be happy in this show except Silvia Navarro who is given free reign to do her scary outbursts of rage!

Where is the story located at? In Mexico or in the U.S?

Gracias, Juju. Just a reminder to put all the past events in blue font for ease of comprehension.

Lola is above the age of consent (which I think is 16 in Mexico) but a teacher is completely out of line pursuing a student. And why does she have a male gym teacher or has that sort of thing changed? When I was her age (back during the Roman Empire) girls only had female gym teachers.

Andres is a monster.

If Damian dies there will be no eyewitness to the accident and there may not be a firm conclusion as to what actually happened. Vicente is bitter about losing his alleged inheritance so we can't necessarily trust what he says about Carolina. Andres has no boundaries, so his threat to Carolina is the act of a sociopath (like everything else he does).

Lola is treading on very shaky ground. She is almost worse off than Mia.

Princess Juju, thank you for lightening this incredibly dark episode with your trademark wit and humor including "I like this lady, she's ballsy. Someone remind me to learn her name (ITA) and "Damian tells him not to say anything about Carolina and to respect her or else he will bash his face in and omg I kinda wanna see that" (so do I"...

"Antonio should take Fernando off the case, surely he has other detectives on staff who aren't married to a rabid member of the press" would of course be the logical thing to do. Laura's interference and Fernando's palpable distraction are hindering the investigation enormously.

I was only a bit surprised to see the body was Caro's. It was chilling.

I'm assuming Mia told Miriam Caro was dead, is that right? Whatever Dam and Caro's emotional connection was based on (love/lust), it appeared to be the strongest bond we've seen yet. Intense and all consuming. And the cause of their ruin. I suspect Damian will not survive.

It seemed obvious early on that Caro and Damian were doomed. They went no where they weren't "seen", no where they weren't "found". All this before they had fulfilled their physical desires. The emotional ones had already been met.

Why would Raquel ask Santiago if he killed Caro. At his home. With his children within earshot??

The real victims here are the children. I almost said 4. Why is the baby an afterthought? Lola’s torments are real and many. It was terrible to see what she has been subjected to. Mia has also suffered terrible abuse. My heart went out to them.

This is raw and all too real. Still, I can't look away.

Thank you Princess Juju!

Diana

The baby seems (seemed) to be an afterthought to Carolina, too. Otherwise she wouldn't have left him behind to have playtime with Damian.

The only reason Raquel was thinking Carolina was having an affair...is because Gabriela told her she was having an affair with her husband.

I think the only person who was totally clueless about the affair from what we've been shown so far is Santiago. Raquel has known it in her bones from the beginning & she probably knew deep down if she confronted Damian or forced him to make a choice, he would choose Carolina. So she stayed quiet and kept Carolina around to keep Damian around.

Mia was a hateful brat at the foundation. Raquel should've forced her to volunteer there to see what despair is really about.

Federico gets a high 5 from me for punching out Joaquin.

Patricia is a predator.

Lola has the same seductiveness as Carolina. She just doesn't know how to use it yet.

Godoy should be taken off the case but then he wouldn't be on my TV screen and I would be sad.

Laura is too thirsty and ambitious.

Thank you,Princess Juju. I am missing the backstory of Laura. She is limping and seems to be blaming her accident on her husband. She has finally recovered after a year's absence and is desperate to get/keep a job. Depending on what happened to her, maybe I could have some sympathy for her. I'm still wondering what is in the envelope that Santiago gave to the man on the night of the accident. Payment for work or to cause the accident? Its an intriguing mystery what happened.

Princess Juju--Someone ought to replace your princess diadem with a queenly crown. Your writing is irresistible. Diana has already put up some of your better asides. There certainly was no need to translate any dialog--your recap is perfect just as it is. Many thanks.

Diana--I WAS surprised it was Caro's body, but only for one hot second. I won't be surprised now, if Dam doesn't make it. I think the story in the present and moving forward will be how these two "adults," Santi and Raquel deal with irretrievable loss and adjustment to a new life with the unforgettable knowledge that their spouses had turned their backs on them and their families for their own guilty pleasures.

We aren't sure how things will turn out financially for Raquel, with both Miriam and Andres circling the bank accounts and the business. We should note with caution what Miriam said about the business, TAA (tres anos antes)--(actually I'm not remembering now who she was saying it to, maybe Andres) that if they don't go along with Damian's wishes, he might leave the business and then it all falls down around them.

We are pretty sure how things will turn out financially for Santiago. He still has his construction business, so he will be ok, if he doesn't have some sort of crisis or breakdown. But he has a left-over dysfunctional family to deal with, including that new toddler--which we still must learn how he came about.

I'll leave the psychological impact to someone more knowledgeable than I. All five children, Sissy Cindy and Vicente will have issues in the aftermath.

I want to know more about how Santiago knew Sissy (unless that was a red herring) and WHAT ABOUT THE MONEY, on both sides there seems to be missing money?

Count--I don't think the shack in the woods is the one Caro sold half of. I think he had to move out of the house she sold and all he could afford was the shack.

PJJ--Damian's faithful secretary, to my knowledge, has never been mentioned by name. She's certainly playing a pivotal role here--she knows how Andres and Miriam operate. She deserves to have a name.

Can't remember who alluded to Sissy Cindy being in a mental institution. She was in a drug rehab facility, although from the behavior we witnessed when seeing her sister leaving and how she was manhandled, would lead anyone to believe she was in a mental institution. She'll need more help, too, before this is all over.

Giselle Gonzalez has hit another one out of the park. Intense, serious, some flaws, great cast, great direction, complicated story. Does anyone know how it is doing in Mexico? We used to have someone that could give us data. Where is he/she now?

Lynette--The Santi envelope IS a big mystery. The fact that he told the guy to never come around again and never say a word, ever, tells me that it wasn't one of his regular employees. That's why I said yesterday that I HOPED it wasn't Santi that arranged for the accident. Point 1: If he did, he would know Caro would be with Dam--did he really want to kill her, too? Point 2: If he did, it would explain why he was so desperate to find her alive and get to her first--to see if she remembered anything. At least Miriam is out of the game trying to get to Caro first and Laura has lost her lead, although the fact she turned up dead and buried, rather than in the car with Dam, will keep the story alive awhile longer.

But so is Raq and the suitcase at the front door--unless that is a red herring.

Thank you Princess Juju. I was confused last night by the time sequence but your recap helped.

I find it difficult to believe that Damian is truly dead but he did flatline. So if both of our adulterous spouses are in fact dead, then that means the rest of this novella will devoted to past events of our wicked spouses and past and present events of those still living. So for the sake of those viewers who are not strong in their Spanish skills I hope all future recappers to follow Urban's suggestion about multi-colored recaps. (It wouldn't be so bad if the "creative director" of all TN's wasn't so budget minded to ban all English caps but it is what it is.)

Again, thank you Princess Juju.

Laura is the same kind of media vulture we've seen on PyP and LC: the kind that has to break the story at all costs no matter whom it hurts, including the police investigation. She has no ethics. I even wonder whether she married Godoy because that would keep her close to breaking news. She does not appear to love him.

We have not heard anything yet on why she blames him for her accident or even what it was. Only that she spend a lot of time in rehab.

I think Miriam knows that Andres is of little actual value to running the pasta company. She uses him to tell her what Damian might have been concealing. She knows that Damian was the person who made the company successful. What we need to know now is what does Mexican inheritance law do if Damian dies or remains in the coma indefinitely.

Tks so much, my 1st novela in many months, couldn't resist Silvia Navarro.

Who is the Patricia character?

VP--Re Patricia; wish I knew. She's been very good as a temptress. IMBD has not been very helpful with minor characters in this tn and, taking Urban's caution under advisement, have NOT checked Wikipedia. She says there are spoilers there, at least in the beginning episodes.

Thanks Juju!

So after last night I developed two theories (although I'm already dropping one for now because it's too far fetched at this point): 1) The conversation between Santi and Raq with them pointing a finger at each other for being responsible for the accident. A revenge killing, perhaps. 2) Andres being the culprit of the accident with possible assistant from Miriam. The first one is obviously the far fetched one. If my second theory is correct and if Miriam is also involved then maybe just maybe the plan was to get rid of Carolina. I would think Miriam isn't that cold hearted to want to kill her own son.

I'm surprised there's so much focus on Lola and these weird storylines with the teacher and now Patricia. I would've thought Mia would be the one that the writers would focus on.

I agree that if Damian dies then the focus will be on the past events. We haven't yet seen everything that lead up to the accident. Technically Damian and Carolina have barely started their affair as we are seeing now. And I'm sure, although we don't know which timeline it'll be, we'll start seeing a relationship between Santi and Raq. I'm guessing though that it'll start in the present after it is confirmed that both Caro and Damian are dead.

Patricia is portrayed by Luisa Rubino. IMDB lists her having roles in Simplemente Maria, Como Dice El Dicho and some other shows but those must have been fake or very minor roles such as being an audience role( sitting in the background).

Thank you Princess for the awesome recap.

To take a quote from Ferris Bueller "life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look once in a while you could miss it". This TN is moving pretty fast, and the clues are sprinkled all over, and as you have said ANITA many could be red herrings, leading us in the wrong direction.

The young adults in this TN are all dealing with issues that the new generations deal on a day to day basis, I like Gisselle's fearless approach to all of them. Not sugar coated, veiled or watered down.

I am shocked that Carol is indeed dead. That last scene with Santi getting all over her is disturbing, what about preservation of the crime scene. These cops are useless, they can't keep the camera crew away and now they let Santi get all over Carol. All should be fired IMHO.

Laura is a pest and I need to find out why Fernando puts up with her.

I think Raquel and Santi probably have had a strong emotional connection since before the accident. The way they interact after the accident leads me to believe that they are very close, beyond just friends.

My theory on Fernando & Laura is this:

Laura was ambitious. Fernando felt neglected but instead of putting on his big boy pants and telling Laura that he was feeling neglected, he cheated on her with someone who gave him a little bit of attention.

(or, he did tell her he felt neglected and she blew him off).

After discovering the affair, Laura was understandably in shock and grief. She jumps in her car and speeds off recklessly, crying over the affair. She gets into a car accident and is badly injured.

Laura probably feels the only reason he's still with her is because he feels guilty about the affair & the accident. So she's punishing him and because he does feel terribly guilty, he stays and takes the punishment.

Laura also has dirt on Fernando. If she tells the Police how things occured Nando's career and respect will cease to exist.

i wonder though why are they keeping his affair under wraps. It doesn't seem that it was just some ordinary secretary or a chick at the gas station. Did he sleep with Cynthia, Raquel's sister or even Carolina?

Anon247, great comment - you should be a writer with such thoughtful analysis in this and the past few episodes. Maybe you are:)

So many insightful comments. I've enjoyed every single one.

Anita, I saw something on Wiki I wasn't looking for that I won't reveal here. Fair warning for anyone who doesn't wish to know ahead of time.

Sandie, your "I think Raquel and Santi probably have had a strong emotional connection since before the accident. The way they interact after the accident leads me to believe that they are very close, beyond just friends" was especially poignant.

Diana

That's what I want to know: WHO did Fernando cheat with?

Carolina is my guess!

What I want to know is why were Santi and Raquel so desperate the night of the accident? At least I think it was the night of the accident. Their angst was palpable, foreboding, they both had their phones in their hands as if wanting to call someone or waiting for a call that never came.

By then they must have been truly suspicious. Once there is a vibe that something isn't right it never improves.

Thank you everyone for your comments.

Sandie, I thought Raquel and Santiago were a mess that night because they had been alerted to the accident, I'll have to rewatch the first few episodes this weekend!

OMG Susanlynn!

Carolina?? Hmmm. You might well be right!!

Diana

I wonder what would happen if Damian dies. If he left everything to Carolina that would be the ultimate FU to both Raquel & Miriam!

Princess you didn't miss much, you got all the important stuff.I was sohoping
That wasn't Carolina. She needs to be
Here to answer for her adultery with
Damian. Of course looks like she came back to get him.If Ididn't know better
I'd say he's acting like somebody in
Love with the love of his life, and can't live without her. So if they can
Revive him, his punishment would be to
Live with the fact that he had a hand
In her death however inadvertently it
Was,Those children and that little boy
Have lost their mother. And she brungit
On herself.I dont mean to sound harsh or judgemental but Ive lived long enough to know that bad behavior have bad consequences. Now who killed her and put Her in the cold wet ground? In
The first episode we saw her walking..
So between then and now, some crazy man
Or woman thought it would be a good idea to murder her. She might have deserved stuff, but not that.I want her
Alive not dead. Now it's not whocheated
it's a "who murdered the other woman?" And why? Mystery.
Andres is slimmy, so glad the assist stood up to him, you go girl.

It seems that the children of these adults are Having issues thats been
For quit some time. Long before the
Affair. There's a whole boatload of
Mess going on here. I like to how it all unravels.Somebody paid somebody to
Do something. Was it murder or and to
Set someone up for murder. The Mother inlaw from hell comes to mind.

Thanks Princess Juju!!!!

I don't understand the attraction of Lola to all of these people? I could understand it more if the actress playing Mia was Lola.

Count--I don't think Dam would have left out his children in a will. OTOH, we don't know what a besotted dude would do--especially knowing the kind of financial straits the Alvarados were in. He'd only do that consciously if he knew that Raq had an independent source of funds. Raq kept telling Caro that a woman should have her separate money and not rely on her husband....so, you may be right.

Thanks, Princess Juju. Wow, that title. You sure do bring on the wit. Fun recap, though the goings-on are rough.

Fun reading all the comments too.

What cologne is Lola wearing to have everybody so besotted with her?

Damian’s assistant standing up to Andres. You go, girl!

Poor Carolina. Such a high price to pay for her lust.

Nina--You never hold back--keep it up, we need a dose of reality (hehe).

The woman we saw running through the hilly field, I thought was the prostitute who showed up and Tonio mistook for the missing Carolina. But--YOU could be right and she met her death after running away. I would have assumed she would stay near Dam and the car and wait for rescue--unless she didn't want to be found, but didn't know where she was and someone got to her. It would make sense if someone had set them up to have an accident and she was running AWAY from whoever it was. Since they found her shoe near the river and found her body not too far away from the scene of the accident, we know fairly certainly she didn't run very far.

Even if Raquel has her own fortune (which I doubt, since it seems that she sold her parents' house to pay for Cinthia's rehab) I doubt that the law would allow Damian to disinherit her. What we can bet on is that if he dies intestate Miriam will come up with all sorts of accusations to prevent Raquel from getting anything. That might not work legally since there is unlikely to be anything but it can get tied up in the courts for years if the process is anything like it is here.

Cinthia is completely worthless and just as eager for Raquel to lose everything. Every time I see her I want to break her nose.

Carolina looks really dead, Damian, not so much.
Notice how the events of dead Caro & Dam's cardiac happened at the same time (doesn't that mean true love?)

I think Dam will be haunting Raquel for awhile but she will find true love in the end with Santiago.

Carvivle...yes,I feel exactly like you. What is so special about Lo!a that all these people want her ? Odd

Dam and Caro had driven quite a long way and were on a very secluded, woodsy road when the accident happened. It looked like a tire blew to me. I guess one could set that up but it only killed them because of the terrain and hill they were on. It's a TN so anything is plausible.

I think Caro was going for help and met someone else who put her in a shallow grave. Both cell phones were found and no message going out seemed to have happened so she couldn't have called someone for help. The only explanation was that someone was following them in the car and caught up to Caro to kill her. Maybe she was the one they wanted dead the whole time. That would leave Miriam. I'm at her table as the orchestrator of the death of Caro--not necessarily the accident.

If the tire had blown someone would have mentioned that at the site of the accident. I think either of them could have been set up; remember that Andres has at least two motives for wanting Damian dead.

Miriam might not care about Carolina since the woman she really wants to get rid of is Raquel.

Princess Juju, thanks for another great rundown of events. I TA about Godoy getting the boot. Laura is getting on my last nerve as well. Godoy should give HER the boot!

Lola is not exactly my idea of Mata Hari, either. Raquel lost my respect when she decided to stay with Damian. Maybe she just hasn't seen him in "action" like we have. Smarmy scheming and slick as spit. Blech!!

Thank you Princess Juju. Excellent recap. I hope you some good rest girl.

we saw Carolina stumbling along with one shoe, she died from sth other than the auto accident

Many thanks for the detailed recap and sharing your funny asides.

I am wondering if Laura (i can’t stand her either) killed Caro. Reason I suspect her is that when she found out that Caro was alive and wandering around, she might have gone with the intent of mudering her.
For two reasons: she hated her , I suspect her husband was in lov e w Caro PLUS she is verrrry ambitious and wants her story no matter what to get kudos for her reporting. I can’t believe Godoy puts up with her, I mean enough is enough, whatever he did to cause the accident that caused her limp, well let’s just say he has more than paid his dues. Cinthia has familiar face, but I can’t place her.

Lola’s phermones should be put in bottle and sold, rhey be rich.

Speaking if, there’s a movie “Siren” where woman is cursed by pheromones that make every man fall insanely in love with her, to the point she had to live in isolation.

Stalkers just like rapists have nothing to do with love or looks, they stalk to have power over their victim. Andres does it to keep his enemy( Carolina) closer and in his grasp and to corrupt, turn Lola against her family. Juan does it to prove his authority as a gym teacher. If it wasnt her it would have been someone else. Besides stalking isnt just peeking through windows with binoculars. Its a situation you wouldnt want to live through.
