Caer En Tentacion #12, 10/31/17: Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places

Parte 1~~

Andres makes a play for Raquel's romantic affections.  She replies he's the last person she'd ever fall in love with.  He pins her against the wall with a characteristic bear hug but Cintia races to the rescue.  He's caught between a Raq and a hard-on.  Sin chases him off but not before he sneers that Sin is jealous that he'd never sleep with her again.  Raq is disgusted to learn her kid sis slept with the sicko.  (Ah, birds of a feather, eh?)  Sin accuses Raq of rejecting her and abandoning her at the hospita and really not wanting her to stay at the house.

Santiago scolds Lola for leaving the house at all hours.  Besides, she's grounded unless she tells him what happened on that trip and what the press has got on her.  She tells him rightly that she's done all he's asked around the house and for the family and wants some down time.  She races out the door.

The detectives get the results from the paternity test.  It is as Antonio suspected....

⦁Lola checks with Mike on Patricia's whereabouts.  He hasn't heard from her in a while and has no idea.  Lola tells him why she's looking for her: that she's gone to the press with the story about their supposed menage a trois which, obviously, it wasn't.  Mike is thankful for the heads up and says he'll find her and keep her quiet.  We're not sure how, though.....

Lola's got a meet with Mr. Gym Teacher.  Why'd he lie about Pati telling people she and Lola had a fruitaluscious friendship?  He didn't lie, he answers.  She calls Pati but he takes the phone from her hands to protect his reputation.  He then warns Lola not to play with his feelings for her.  He begins kissing her and she passionately responds, but breaks away and leaves the car.

Godoy pays a visit to Santi's house to give him the results of the paternity test (Dun-dun-dunnnn!!): the baby was Santi's--a double loss, then for Santiago.  He later calls Raq with the DNA results.  She curses herself for still being in love with the dishonorable and disrespectin' Dam.

Federico and Mia arrive at the Alvarado house.  Nico has a tantrum over Dam and to prove his dislike, he breaks the guitar to pieces on the garden wall.  Fedi chides him and then they hug--BFF's forever despite Fed's daddy diddling his mama.

3 Years Earlier:  Dam and Raq are relaxing in the bedroom.  She asks him for a small loan to uses for start-up expenses, just till the business turns a profit.  He doesn't mind, but says she should be more responsible with money.  She doesn't know how to balance a checkbook, it would seem.

Santi is at the neighborhood cantina while Caro's alone, crying in her bed.  He mentions to Nacho how Caro and his marriage is going down the w.c.  Nacho advises more care and concern for her needs.  At the same time, though Dam is texting  Caro that she must call him; he needs to hear from her.  She ignores the text....

Godoy and Laura argue about her press pass as a free pass to parade the poor Alvarado daughter's dirty laundry in the living rooms of a prurient public.  She should not hurt the family that way.  Laura says tough stuff, Stud.  I got hurt, too.  Nobody cared.  He goes into a minor rage and starts knocking things off the desk and tables.  She gives him grief: he only stays with her to keep her quiet.  One leak to the press and he'd go straight to jail!!  (Dun-dun-dun-dunnnnn!)

Mia tells Raq she should stay clear of Santiago.  It makes her jealous.  Raq assures her that Damian is the only man in her life.  Mia says she's sure since she saw them together in bed.  Mia changes the subject and asks if she can go to a party at one of the girls from school's house.  Raq is only too happy to agree.

Mike reports to Andres.  Andy wants Mike to do something with the check he gave Raq's catering company.  Andy's plan is to keep Raq under his thumb.  The woman, he admits, has made him crazy about her--more so when she rejects him!  "--However, that's going to change soon, very soon!"

Mia and Isaura (?) arrive at the girl's house for the party.  Mr. Popular and his posse are the only ones there to greet them.  Mr. P has his posse throw out Isaura.  She tries to persuade Mia to leave with her.  Mia refuses and heads off with P and his posse.  She asks where the others are.  There are no others.  They're the only attendees.   It's a gang rape and she's the guest of honor.  Relax, have a drink!
~~end parte 1~~
=================
Parte 2~~

⦁ Lola sobs in her room and Caro comes in to comfort her.  The guilt is too much and Lola confesses  about the trip and Pati and Mike/Andres?  Caro says they need to report this and put the guy in jail.   It's a serious crime what they did.  Lola refuses.

Across town, Mia tells Raq about the non-party but not what specifically happened.  She didn't drink and was completely sober so she knows exactly what happened, and that nothing took place other than they attacked her and attempted sexual relations.  Later that night she asks Raq to change schools.  She never wants to see those boys again!

Santi arrives home with a gift of earrings for Caro.  They make up.  The next morning los Alvarado buy a fixer-upper.  Lola asks Caro about the earrings and if she told her father about the graduation trip.  Caro says no.

The next day, Raq and Dam are in the Principal's office complaining.  The principal denies responsibility for activities outside school.  Raq tells the woman that if her daughter wants to change schools so badly, there has to be a reason, right?  Dam wants an investigation.  The principal balks.  She asks them to reconsider so that Mia can avoid any humiliation.  (It's way past that, don't you think, Lady?)

Santi arrives at Raq's home with a copy of the last texts, between Caro and Dam.  He reads a couple.  Caro says she cannot look Santi  in the eyes.  Dam agrees.  There's something about no blame, since they're not hurting anybody when they're being careful.  He begs her to come with him and go on the trip with him.  (Then something else I couldn't make out with Santi sobbing so hard.)  Raq reads some more out loud.  You will regret it. (??) They will enjoy the trip together.  "--We're leaving but we're leaving together.--" Raq and Santi just stare mournfully at each other after that.  Suddenly he grabs Raq and plants a puckered lip on Raq who responds in kind.  She breaks into tears and hugs him afterward..... (HUH?)

Gracias, Jardinera.

I knew those two girls were up to no good. There is a special place in hell for what they did, so I hope the writers won't let them get away with this.

Mia needs to be in a mental health facility ASAP. She should not have had to take any responsibility for Federico when they were growing up, which makes me wonder now whether she is following in Raquel's footsteps about such things.

As to Cinthia's accusation that Raquel just wants her out of the house, I can't hold that against Raquel. Having a drug addict under your roof is dangerous and I think Cinthia is also a sociopath.

I don't know whether a lawyer could make a case for the school having any responsibility based on the fact that the set-up was a conspiracy that played out in the school building. Whether or not that could be nothing can happen before the potential rapists and their accomplices are identified. However, if schools in Mexico are anything like the ones here, the administration will not want to get involved. They -- and the parents -- will just as likely say "Boys will be boys." Who knows what those monsters will be saying about Mia in the next few episodes.

This sudden attraction between Raquel and Santiago couldn't have happened at a worse time.

Thanks Jardinera!

I didn't see the episode yet. Was Mia raped or was she able to escape? Did Lola ultimately have sex with Andres for the trip money? Did she have a three way with Mike and Pat? I'm confused about what happened.

Andres definitely gets around.

I'm surprised the baby was Santi's. Talk about pouring more salt in the wound.

Are Santi and Raq really attracted to each other or just looking for comfort from the only one who can understand the pain? I guess we will see how it develops but Urban's right, couldn't be at a worse time.

Jardinera, thanks for such an excellent recap. "Between a Raq and a hard-on" is an instant classic! Santi and Raq are already dealing with so much pain and confusion. Not sure if the added connection between them will help.

UA: I'm afraid that those 2 girls will get away with it!

Thanks Jardinera!

So it seems Andres is/was jealous of Damian. I don't know if I fully believe that Andres is attracted to Raquel though. I think he's just messing around.

Santiago might have been the father of Caro's unborn baby but it's certainly possible that Benjamin is Damian's. I think Raquel's reaction was appropriate though. It's still a bit hard to be relieved by that fact. Damian still cheated.

I agree that it's probably the worst time for Raq and Santi to potentially fall in love with each other. If it continues to develop they will have to face their kids and possibly Miriam's wrath as well. They seemed to be caught up in the moment, but who knows.

Jardinera, both "Godoy and Laura argue about her press pass as a free pass to parade the poor Alvarado daughter's dirty laundry in the living rooms of a prurient public" and "He's caught between a Raq and a hard-on" are both side bar worthy. Fantastic recap!

Carvivlie, I am also confused. When he saw the cuts on Mia, I thought her attacker was going to back off. That seems to bear out what she told her mother - attempted but not carried out. Am I wrong?

I'm also not sure about what happened with Lola either.

This was such a depressing episode. I don't think Andres is capable of any kind emotion. At all.

I'm not sure how I feel or should feel about Santi and Raq. There has always been a relationship there, but what defines it? Friendship? Something more?? Now is certainly not the time to let emotions run wild resulting in anything that would temper or change the relationship. They need to rely on each other right now. Any kind of romantic entanglement would push their children off the precipice. They are barely balancing as it is.

I'm just hoping Mia doesn't pick this time for a heart to heart with her mother. I would ask what else could possibly go wrong but I sense the list is deep.

Thanks Jardinera. This was great.

Diana

I don't know whether Univision censored the attempted rape scene but Mia escaped. The boys saw the evidence of her self-harm and were freaked out by it. This enabled her to escape.

Juan needs to be reported. His stalking of Lola is so far out of line as to have erased it.

Okee Dokee - Jar, another spell-binding recap of a, yes, very confusion episode. Thank you for the time, effort and consideration for us.

Yes, those two schoolgirls were complicit. They knew exactly what those boys were going to do. I don't blame Mia for wanting to change schools, no questions asked. But shouldn't this be a wake-up call for Raq & Dam to get some counseling for Mia?

I think the boy saw the cut marks and was repulsed by them and backed off. Who would ever have thought that self-mutilation would save her from rape.

Carvivlie--The Andres/Mike/Patricia/Lola caper at Mike's apt. took place back when Pat was trying to get her into "the life," trading sex for money with rich guys. Pat handed Lola a drugged drink and told her it was water. Lola drank it, felt dizzy, collapsed against a wall and when she woke up didn't know if anything had happened (this is my own personal HUH? if she was a virgin, she certainly would have noticed something, no?)

Lola didn't want to denounce Mike & Andres because then she'd be outing herself as a prostitute.

The attraction between Raquel & Santiago isn't sudden, everyone noticed. It was always there, but because both of them were in love with their spouses (or who they thought their spouses were), it never would've occurred to them that they were attracted to the other. I think right now they are just comforting each other through their mutual pain.

The school isn't responsible for off site parties but they are responsible for fostering a professional atmosphere in their building and Mia has been bullied in their building.

At the same time, while I understand Damian & Raquel wanting to get down to the bottom of the situation, Mia's not happy at the school. Withdraw her from the school, the end.

Patricia drugged Lola and was trying to have sex with her and get Miguel involved but Miguel didn't want to get involved & Lola rejected Patricia. Patricia has been angry since and has been spreading rumors about Lola's activities.

Lola also had something (voluntarily) going on with the gym teacher, too. Lola has probably had sex numerous times with the gym teacher, something went wrong and now she's mad at him(although it may not have progressed to that point in last night's episode).

Mia was attacked but I don't think she was ultimately raped because that kid got freaked out by seeing her cuts.

Raquel was dating Andres first, then dumped him to get with Damian. Andres has always been jealous of Damian.

Laura is punishing Godoy for cheating by holding his crimes against him. She's blackmailing him for information. Godoy needs to ask to be removed from the case or come clean about whatever he did to get from underneath Laura's punishment.

I also think whoever Godoy cheated on Laura with was probably very similar to the Alvarados, which is why she's investigating them and not getting all up in the Beckers' business.

Thanks for all of the clarifications! Can't look away for a minute or ya miss something!

Carvivlie and Diana--Your joint conjecture that Santi and Raq are probably looking for comfort from the only other one who can understand the pain and shouldn't be letting their emotions run wild are on the money. Reading the last texts pushed them over the edge especially when they "heard" their cheating partners declaring their love for each other.

Had I been the director, I would have had Raquel crying first, Santi pulling her up to give her a comforting hug and both realize there was an attraction that went beyond understanding their pain, hence a feverish, anguish-ridden kiss.

After all, they had seen each other almost on a daily basis for 3 years, which could only make them feel close. They should have been seeing each other more as family/siblings and backed away at first. Then let them fall in love and not on the rebound from cheating spouses.

It certainly will complicate things with the teenagers, especially when we saw Nico's raw feelings about Damian and with Mia and her ambivalent feelings about her mother and father.

So I was wrong about the DNA results. The baby was Santi's. This will tend to justify Miriam's feelings about her saintly son and make it harder for Raquel to come to terms with her own feelings about Dam. Had it been his child, it would make it easier to cut the marriage ties AND to pull the plug on him.

Hmmm. Now we learn Nando has a secret that could land him in jail.

The cheating texts were brutal. I'm of the understanding that Caro's texts were:

But what about everyone else?

I feel guilty about hurting Santi and leaving the others behind

Dam's texts were:

We aren't hurting anybody

They'll get over it

What we feel is more important

We're actually taking care of them

Any betrayed partner would be like WTF? when reading their partner's texts to another person claiming their partner wont' be hurt by their betrayal & their love is more important that the partner.

Anita and Anon 207, while Mia's self-mutilation is tragic in and of itself, it may indeed have saved her from a horrifying violation. I am not at all convinced Mia will ever be able to recover from what's transpired so far.

"Withdraw her from the school, the end" is spot on Anon 207.

I see Raquel and Damian's visit to the school as far too little, too late. The girl did not morph into a tragic teenager overnight. I will also fault Santiago and Caro as Lola is a troubled handful herself. While Lola is quite a good actress, even we have seen times she has been in total distress.

In theory, it would be gratifying if the two people whose lives were shattered by the affair could come together. But murder, mayhem and their primary responsibilities to their children render that impossible.

Diana

To some extent I think that their final texts display some reality. If they were not going to/could not stop their relationship and planned to keep on cheating, maybe it was time that they brought this into the open. This might not have been the way to do notify their partners but they have been cheating for three years with no signs of stopping. They do not seem to have the guts to face their partners and ask for a divorce so they are running away together with terrible consequences for them, their families and their partners. How does one ask for a divorce?

I am wondering whether Fernando's affair partner was a witness in a previous case of his. That would be a major ethics violation on his part, but there would need to be something criminal in that -- like perjury -- to allow Laura to make that threat. I hope it doesn't take too long to find this out.

How many different schools has Mia been in at this point? This is the hugest red flag. And as I've said before, the capper on what is already a bad situation is that teachers are very unlikely to do anything about any of this. Most of them are unqualified to assist victims of bullying and some of them actually see the victims as pathetic. That is likely what has been happening all these years. I also think that Mia has not told her parents much about what's gone on, which doesn't help.

Jardinera thank you so much for recap. I have not watched the episode yet, but from your recap I can tell it was a thrilling episode.

Many victims of bullying are unlikeable people (Mia) or people without backup (Lola). Bullies know there will be very little consequences to attacking their victims, which is how they get away with it.

It's also easier to get rid of the target than deal with the bully, because you don't want to be a target, too. The kids who are bullying Mia may have powerful parents, or parents who contribute financially and socially to the school. If Joaquin and the other kids' parents have been giving money and social support to the school for years, the school isn't going to mess that up to fight for Mia, a kid nobody likes and nobody cares about. The school know Mia has no friends.

In Lola's case, she has no backup and Patricia knows it. To get some backup means exposing Patricia, Miguel, Andres and Juan and to expose them means exposing herself. Lola knows this, which is why she doesn't want Caro to denounce them. Caro SHOULD tell Santiago, but we know she doesn't because Santiago is still in the dark 3 years later. Caro's going to ultimately keep her mouth shut because to expose Andres means exposing herself as cheating on Santiago with Damian.

Bullies mostly pick on people nobody likes or cares about.

None of this is any justification. Teachers have a responsibility to their students first.

Bullies prey upon the weak, the ugly, the ones who are not xerox copies of others, or the ones from sketchy families (like Carrie White). Allowing bullies to get away with it does them no more good than it does their victims.

Lola's situation is more outside the school than it is in, but her situation is more fixable. Juan should be fired and have his teaching license revoked. And why is a man teaching a girls' gym class in the first place?

Urban--Maybe Juan is just her track coach, but not her gym teacher--or the type of PE they take is "gender neutral." In any case your statement still stands. He should have kept hands off and not told her of his feelings. That just puts her in a very difficult mental situation. Meanwhile, Juan IS risking his career if she indulges in his attentions and they are found out. Is that statutory rape in Mexico? What is the age of consent there? Even though Lola ages from 16 to appx. 19 in the 3 years, she doesn't look ANY different than she did before. I wish they had changed her hairstyle a bit so WE could tell the difference.

I had male gym teachers in high school. I don't remember having any female gym teachers in high school. Middle school, yes.

Optimally, teachers have a responsibility to their students first, but that's not how the world works. No teacher/school, in any part of the United States, is going to intervene on behalf of a bullied student if they don't have to.

They will tell the bullied kid to ignore it, to make friends, to solve it themselves, etc. They'll say the bullied kid is too sensitive, needs a tougher skin, needs to learn how to deal with it, etc.

Most teachers have 50-100 other students they are dealing with, they're really not going to stop and intervene with one kid is bullied.

(of course, they're all kinds of concerned when something bad happens to the bullied kid or the bullied kid strikes back)

Mia has no friends* at this school. She's new to the school so she/her parents don't have the social connections to the school the other kids have. Raquel & Damian's reactions are too little, too late as far as Mia is concerned.

In Lola's case, she does have friends but the wrong kind of friends and frankly if her relationship to Juan were ever exposed, SHE'D be blamed (especially by adults) instead of Juan. He might get fired, but it would be all her fault. Miguel & Andres might get jail time, but she'd be labeled a ho (and I admit, I've called her a ho too). We know this. Lola knows it too, which is why she wants Caro to keep her mouth shut.

Both Mia & Lola could do with a fresh start elsewhere.

*To have a friend means to be a friend. Mia has no friends but she isn't trying to befriend people either. The one girl that's tried to befriend her, she's blown off until she needs her for something. This too could be Raquel & Damian's fault for not encouraging Mia to make friends outside of Federico. Raquel has said Fede is adjusting better but I'm thinking the kid with adjustment problems all along was Mia, not Federico.

Good point, Anita. That is a bigger difference at that age than at the ages of the parents.

I think the age of consent in Mexico is 15 or 16, but this is still an ethics violation. He needs to be terminated to protect any possible future victims.

Anon207, I suppose this also makes teachers the same kind of social Darwinists that bullies are. Disgusting.

UA: I'm also noticing that Andres' obsession & thirst for power has no limits. It wouldn't surprise me if he whacked Carolina.

Good recap Jardinera654. The episode tho was just sad and pitifull.Ay these
People!

That kiss was a"angry-sad-Iwantto-kill
Them-but-theyre-not-here-so-we'll-kiss
eachother-kiss!
These people are so screwed up in this show. Nobody is happy. And I don't even
Remember anybody smiling without some
Kind of evil madness connected to it.
There will probably be a bitter-sweet
Ending. Like the one where the mother&
Daughter wound up haunting the house they offed Themselves in.I can't think of the name of that show, almost all the good guys died off.And we got stuc
K with the sycho mom and daughter duo.

Don't mean to be a Debby downer people
But OMG! Maybe santi and raq will give
It the Ol college try.
That poor girl got date raped.I'm surp
rised she hasn't killed herself yet.
I hope she don't, her dad done already committed matrimonial suicide.

Ok gotta go to beddyby. Thanks Jardinera654

Thank you, Jardinera.

I taught in a senior high school for 8 years. Male teachers sometimes made inappropriate remarks about the girls..and the female teachers. Sometimes, there were rumors of male teachers dating students. Not smart or ethical. I never heard rumors of female teachers and male students. Teachers do step in if they see someone bullied, but they cannot be on present. Buses do not usually have adults onboard except the driver who is busy driving.

Andres...what a prize. ..so indicative of the current news reports. I will interested to see his anvil.

The problem with teaching in a senior high school is that teachers are 22 when they first start to teach and the seniors are 17-18. The two groups are only 4 years apart. When I started teaching, there were senior guys who were on the same legion baseball team as my fiance.Awkward. SOmetimes beginning teachers are mistaken for students by the other teachers.Sometimes the students look older than the teachers.Sometimes students hit on the teachers. It creates an opportunity for problems.

Thanks, Jardinera. Terrific recap of the despicable goings-on. So glad you brought much-needed humor to the deplorables, like "She asks where the others are. There are no others. They're the only attendees. It's a gang rape and she's the guest of honor. Relax, have a drink!"

Mia and Lola come from basically good upbringings (if we count out the cheating), but the two sure attract far more than their share of vultures.
