Caer En Tentacion #26, 11/22/17: What Did They Know And When Did They Know It?
• Antonio visits Raquel on business. He needs her statement. Mia wants to know what’s going on and why the police want to take her into custody. “—I went to the company to your uncle’s office and took away a gun. Give me a chance to speak to this man and I’ll explain afterward.” Tonio walks into the living room and informs her that Vicente has signed a formal complaint against her and Santiago for his sister, Carolina’s, murder and attempted murder of her husband, Damian. This is all she needed, but it was to be expected.
• Mia goes up to her bedroom and leaves another message on Nicolas’s voicemail. Nico is having a grown-up dinner at an elegant restaurant with Cougar Boss Lady. He’s thanking her for the clothes and the meal, and tries to refuse her giving him a lift home after. All the recompense she wants is to enjoy his smile and his can-do-it attitude. (Righhhhhht.) All the while he’s feeling like king of the cock-walk, Mia is screaming insults at him into the phone because he’s not returning her calls.
• Crooked Coke-pushing Cop (?) tells Cinthia that she was a fool for telling her big sis about the affair with Dam, especially since it was before they Raq and he were even married. SinCin wanted to make her understand Dam was not the best of hubbies. Well, she can’t stay there. He’s got lots of visitors coming in and out doing lots of things that may tempt her. She lies and says she’s in control and tries seducing him so she can stay anyway.
• Across town Nacho insists to Santi that he’s nearly certain that Andres must have known about the affair between Caro and Dam. Santi is going to do something crazy then, and Nacho tries to talk him out of it. “—Tell me something. Do you think Andres had anything to do with my wife’s death?”
• Back at los Becker, Raq is crying out of pure desperation and misery. “—I didn’t kill anybody! I’m the one who’s been killed! My home and family are both destroyed. My life is totally ruined,” she sobs. Why did she go to the business? She was simply looking for something, anything that would provide a clue—And she found it! It was a picture of a naked, pregnant Carolina hidden in Dam’s office. She was full of rage, can he even begin to imagine what she felt like? Yes she took the gun with thoughts of killing her husband the same way he’d killed her but she couldn’t do it. She wanted to kill herself but she couldn’t kill anybody. It just wasn’t in her.
Did Santi see that picture. Yes, she showed it to him. He was worried about losing Benji since Caro’s dead and Dam is still alive. That is as bad a shock as losing his wife, they agree. The court has ordered a DNA test for paternity. A judge will say that knowing the child was another man’s is sufficient motive for murder. Couple that with Vice stating he saw her and Santi together in a compromising circumstance….Raq swears the man is ill and/or evil. “--There was/is nothing between us and nothing is going on. We didn’t know ANYTHING! We knew NOTHING about any of that! How could we have?” Tonio says he believes her but the court is something different; she tells him the only thing between them is great pain and sorrow. He wants her to help him, then and advises the two of them need to stop hanging around together from now on. It will look bad and does nothing for their credibility. He warns her that what is on the way is going to be even more painful still.
• That night Santi follows Andres back to the office.
• 3 yrs Before: Andres keeps trying to force Caro to give in (like SinCin) but suddenly he just gets off her and walks away. (Methinks Mr. Lump was limp and Mr. Pump wasn’t up for it…..). We get some tough talk that he’ll take her when he’s good and ready. This was just a warning so to speak. One of these days she’ll be beg him for it. He leaves the room. She gets control of herself and takes a desperate call from Dam. She again tries breaking it off with him. He refuses to accept that.
• That evening she comes home late and totally disheveled. She has told Santi that she was nearly raped but was saved, just like the last time when somebody tried stealing her purse but another person got it back for her. She argues with Santi over her wearing make-up and nice clothes and alone at night on the street as being the cause. She refuses to accept that stinking kind of thinking and tells him he’s a controlling chauvinistic jerk.
•
• Eventually Caro and Santi apologize to each other and she and Santi make amends of sorts, while Dam tries to make it up in the marital mattress with Raq for having shut her out of his life and basically ignoring her. Caro blames her frigidity that night on worry over Lola working in some bar rather than having her in a safe place with Damian looking over her. Santi has to agree, but he still feels like he’s losing Caro and doesn’t know how to get “her” back. It’s obvious that neither Dam or Caro is happy with what they have to do to make their marriages work again.
•
• Santi and Andres have it out; Andres will call the police on him. “—Go ahead.” A bad bluff ain’t enough to stop Santiago. He’s like a bulldog with a bone. Santi is determined to find out if Andres knew his cousin and Caro were having an affair. Andres tries to evade but Santi won’t let him get away with that. Andres finally admits that, yeah, he knew. “--Why? Should I have told you so you could have run to Raquel and told her and hurt her?” Santi replies that there was embezzlement going on and this must have been the reason that Dam didn’t fire Andres. It was some sort of blackguards’ agreement.
• Over dinner Godoy and Laura debate the guilt and motives of Santi and Raq. Godoy explains Santi has denied there was anything between him and Raquel. And, just because Vice saw that at that cabin doesn’t automatically make them assassins. Laura considers it had to be somebody close to them who killed Carolina and caused this accident. Who else possibly knew? Vicente, says Godoy. No, says Laura. He’s just a drunk who only wants to see what advantage he can get out of a situation. “—That’s right! So, perhaps he knew and tried to get Damian to pay him to keep his mouth shut?”
Laura says it could also be Andres, the cousin. You told me that there was money missing at the company. His cousin was robbing the company so…? Godoy doesn’t think that’s enough reason to commit murder. Hey, she says, what’s it mean if Santi’s littlest is actually Damian’s son? His mother hated Carolina with all her might. If she knew the baby was Damian’s well, he’s alive and Carolina is dead. His mother could have killed her!
• Santi is surprised to see Nico wearing a new suit. Nico explains how the boss bought him the clothes and dinner then brought him home. I wasn’t sure about what words of wisdom Santi imparted to the kid with news like that. All I heard was that Nico insisted that boss didn’t want him to look like a regular employee….I believe he began to suggest something about her being so much older than him when Mia texts and leaves another message. Nico admits they’re sort of dating and all but she’s just so crazy acting. Santi warns him about hurting her. They listen to her desperate message and Santi tell him to call her while he calls Raq to get the low-down on Antonio’s visit.
• Raq explains that Tonio wants to help them. “--How?” She explains they cannot see each other now due to the business with Vice and the formal complaint. She hangs up. Nico calls Mia to find out what she’s so upset about. “—Don’t be so paranoid.” She doesn’t talk, just hangs up. She remembers back three years ago.
• Nico was all paranoid about her not liking him or wanting to be with him anymore. She brushes him off. Is it Joaquin? Nope. Just she has too much going on in her head right now to think about him. She’s got something doing with Julietta right now anyway.
• Meanwhile, Caro is agonizing over what to do with her pregnancy. She hasn’t told Santi yet. Then there’s a knock at the gate and it’s Dam who cannot live without her. She finally admits she’s preggers and wonders what he wants to do about it. More than ever he needs to and wants to be with her. Not in the cards as far as she’s concerned. Well she’s not telling anyone about it. Their relationship is at an end! They keep arguing about it.
• At los Becker the housekeeper comes racing downstairs to get Raq to come to Mia’s room. There’s blood on Mia’s mattress and the housekeeper found Mia’s box of “tools”.
• Well, there’s a reason: somebody knows about them, says Caro. Who? Dam wants to know. She won’t tell Dam a damn thing—just that if she tells him then Santi and Raq will learn about them—everything about them
• Mia parks outside Nico’s door. Nico walks out in his new duds and she digs his new look. “—Nice.” She’s going to give him a lift but there’s a honk and oh, it’s my boss come to give me a lift to the office. Uh, yeah, thinks Mia. It’s an older, sexy woman on the hunt more like it. This is the reason you threw me under the bus, huh? Err, uhh, well…uh. HONK! “I followed after you for three years! Don’t be like that.” “—Nico, I went to bed with you. You swapped me out for that older woman! Well, go with your new girlfriend. Adios!” Nico is like all what a relief! “--Adios!” Way too easy for you, dude!
• The young carpenter guy that works for Santi comes by to get something at the house and hears the last bit of that “discussion”. He can figure something is up. He’s peeking in through the grating. The carpenter kid listens for clues. Dam says he has a right to know who and how they know! She won’t risk it, she says. “--Now go. This is over!” She opens the gate to get Dam to go and sees carpenter kid just standing there, staring and looking embarrassed.

Everybody in this TN is giving me a headache. Caro won't identify for Dam the vulture in his business/family threatening to devour them. Mia is so hyper with Nico that the Cougar boss is starting to look like a good idea. I could've used Fede in this episode. He's the only bright spot here.
Raquel and Santiago didn't see that tacky photo of Carolina until after her death. They didn't know about the affair in the first place so this is not proof that they had motive. Not to mention that we all saw that both Raquel and Santiago were at home at the time of the crash and were home all night thereafter.
If any person's suspicion can result in a formal charge and an arrest before the police find independent and objective evidence connecting the "suspect" to a crime, something is very seriously screwed up.
The names of certain characters:
Alina: Nico's cougar boss
Raphael: Crooked narco cop
Augustin: Construction worker played by Luis Fernando Pena (AQNMD)
Another note of irony here: Arath de la Torre (Andres) and Gabriel Soto (Damian) were together in a 2001 novela Amigas y Rivales in which AdlT was the Spoiled (but not evil) Rich Boy while GS was the poor one with a loving mother.
Crooked narco cop Rafael, to me, looks like Godoy. Sometimes I think it is Godoy when he is on the screen. Do we know much about him? I guess he knew SinCin in the past?
I was surprised Andres admitted to Santi that he knew about the affair but I guess he had nothing to lose since Caro is dead and his cousin is in a coma. Everyone is pointing the finger at Santi and Raq yet they were the last to find out about the affair. Although the fact that they are developing feelings for each other doesn't help.
I bet a million dollars that Cougar Alina is gonna be the one to help Santi with this latest predicament. She could easily try and hook son AND father. Like Damian, I bet she has a habit of seducing men no matter who and how old they are.
Looks like Mia's secret is out. She's in desperate need of therapy. Self harm is not the solution.
Thanks, Urban, for the names,🤗😁
Thank you Jardinera.Lovely recap. This
Episode sucked thanks right outta the
Giving.
Andres, "I'll take you when Im good and ready"and "one day you'll beg me for it". He's just mad cuz his pump went flat, and his biscuit went limp.
And what woman in her right mind would beg him for that? Yuck.
Yeah I heard about the laws in Mexico.
Guilty until proven innocent.And 3days
To prove your not guilty. If not you go to prison. That's horrible. I do Not Want to see these 2 people in Jail they Are going through enough hell because Of that danged affair and the trouble Because of it. And I'd hate to see benji In the clutches of that ol b..witch miriam.
I wish raq would pull herself together
Tho I do understand her anger and hurt
And finding that photo of that person
Preggers and naked in her husband's office and before that the lustshack,
Hell I'd be pist too. But she needs to
See that her life isn't the only one that's Been upended. Not Being hard on her I just want her to get it together cuz her kids are literally falling apart.
And she needs to turn into that mama lioness and fight for her family or rather what's left of it. leave Santi alone until all the fires are out, and the smoke is gone and then maybe if they have a chance together okay, but right now they've got a murder hanging out with them. And the Mother-in-law from hell is Fanning the flames with that and the cousin-in-law from hell is her minion.
Someone said last year that this thanksgiving holiday Is just an American holiday. I thought everyone would have something to be thankful for.Maybe it's not always celebrated
In november.when is it done in Mexico?
Thank you Jardinera.
Far and away the darkest, most depressing TN I've ever seen. I can only imagine how draining this is to recap - sincere thanks to you and the other recappers for having the fortitude (and stomach) to do so.
"All the recompense she wants is to enjoy his smile and his can-do-it attitude. (Righhhhhh") and "Mr. Lump" and "Mr. Pump" were appreciated.
Raq is on the verge of a breakdown. Perhaps technically she has already had one. Santi is just a bit too devoid of emotions.
Niecie, I agree with you that Fede was missed. I can't say I really like anyone else in this at all.
I can't believe Csro didn't tell Damian about Andres! She played right into Andres' hands. Not sure exactly how much Augustin heard but I think it was certainly sufficient.
Nico should have given up on Mia long ago. Too bad he had to learn his lesson the hard way. I could care less about his boss.
I agree that Santi and Raq should steer clear of each other. Their relationship will never work. I don't think they (and certainly their children) could ever put the past behind them.
I still think Mia is one of the prime suspects.
