Caer En Tentacion #25, 11/21/17: The Forest For The Trees

Laura and Lola are getting coffee.  Well, Laura’s getting information and Lola’s getting screwed by the press.  Oh, she’s there to accuse Lola of having an affair with Damian as well as with Juan The Stalker-Abuser.  And what about Tio Vicente and his relationship with her mama and papa and her papa with Raquel?  After all, he’s just formally accused Raq and Santi of murder and conspiracy to murder (I supposed that’s what they call it in Mexico.)  Lola, upset and naïve beyond words, tells this reporter who, besides believing she sits on the right hand of Dios and thinks she’s better than her husband at detective-work, (--why, she is woman-reporter; hear her roar? )  that Tio Vicente is a vicious drunk who’s always spouting off senseless and meaningless crap.  Therefore she really had no knowledge of ol’ Tio.  And, Raq and papa are just helping each other out to emotionally.  So back off and keep our family and Raq’s out of the papers, the press, tv.  She’s never to darken their door again.  Got it?

Santi finally reaches Nicolas at his new job.  WTF?  Well, Dad, I tried to tell you I’d gotten a part-time job.  You weren’t listening.  And, no, I am not quitting university.  –Cougar Boss-Lady likes hearing that.  She also needs to hear she’s not looking too old and wrinkly these days, even though she’s getting very closed to her use-by date.  She sends him on an errand to a client to smooth the way for her business relationship with them.

Raq shows up emotionally in tatters to complain to Santi that now she’s learned that the hubster was rolling her kid sister in the bedsheets right under her nose also.  Santi is sorry for her but his philosophy in life is ‘That’s just the way it is and nothing can be done about it so deal.  Raq cannot deal, especially when she learns he’s told Comandante Antonio about the gun she stole from Andres’s office.  She already was drowning in self-pity and misery and that bit of news which will no doubt lead to proving Vicente’s got a reason to report them to the police, doesn’t make her feel any better.  Just what was he thinking, anyway?????  “--Oh, you can trust Antonio.”  “--Oh no you cannot.  He is the police and my husband was sleeping with my sister in addition to Carolina.  Don’t you get it?”  And to top it off, Cinthia has no where to go, and neither does she.  So what’s to be done.  She’s living with her under the same roof.

At the pasta company offices, Raq walks by the window of Dam’s glass enclosed office and sees as Dam is about to comfort Caro about something.  She walks in worried about her friend.  Caro lies that she’s all upset about having been accosted by a would-be purse-snatcher.  She refuses all attempted aid from Raq and races off to the hotel where she is forced now to meet Andres.
Otherwise, he will sell that video to the highest bidder and make sure that Santiago gets more than an eyeful of that “porno film” she and Dam made together.  After Caro leaves, Raq is determined to buy Caro a car so she won’t have to walk the mean streets of Mexico City, especially in crummy neighborhoods like this one.

Back at los Alvarados, Lola and Juan have a quibble over Lola being seen in her robe in front of her brother.  She cannot believe what he’s got to gripe about since it is just her brother.  However, the fact that her brother was ready to race into her roon when she was practically naked disturbs him.  She eventually gets permission to chat with Nico in the living room in her robe.  Federico gets an eyeful and cannot hardly pull himself away when it’s time to leave.

Santi finalizes the kitchen makeover with Gabriela.  She takes a selfie with Santi and sends it to Raq to taunt her with.  Raq shows it to Dam who doesn’t think twice about it.  Foolishness.

Back at los Becker, Mia and Julietta’s plan for revenge against Mr. Popular de Joquin goes off without a hitch.  He tells her he apologizes for treating her so badly.  He drinks a glass of lemonade—an alcohol-free micky finn, so to speak.  While she and Julietta show their scars and taunt him about the fact people like him hurt people like them so badly they do this sort of cutting to themselves.  He suddenly passes out.  They undress him and get half naked themselves, then begin taking their own compromising pictures of him that  are very social-media worthy.

Meanwhile, Santi comes home and Juan is standing in the living room waiting on Lola.  Santi sees him there with a sour look on his face and is not in the mood to play games.  Who are you?  Lola walks in with wet hair and obviously just out of the shower.  He’s her boyfriend.  Santi ignores him purposely and Lola tells him tomorrow.  Juan sneers back, “—WHAT?”  Santi says, “—You heard her.  Now leave.”   (Viewerville has to cheer.  Finally a male who will stand up to JTS over his daughter and in general.

“You don't tug on superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger
And you don't mess around with [h]im !” --with apologies to Mr. Croce, qepd)

Santi tells Lola this may be the guy she’s doin’ it with but she cannot do it under his roof, period.  And, next time, pick a guy who respects her more than that.  –Nacho calls Santi and that Caro was there at the pasta factory and he saw Caro looking really upset.  He has no idea why she was there and Nacho doesn’t know what might have happened to get her that way.

Vicente brings his lawyer with him to make his statement accusing Santi and Raq of killing his sister. Why?  “—Isn’t it obvious?  They got together really fast after the accident and my sister’s death, don’t you think?”  Tonio says they have no real proof and until that changes, everyone is a suspect.

At the same time, Raq is still griping to Santi that she wished they could have met under very different circumstances and she’s love to have made love but if she does that, with hubby still alive, then she’s no better than Caro and Sissy and Dam.

During lunch Godoy and Laura discuss her convo with Lola.  She believed it when Lola denied having a sexual relationship with Dam.  As for her daddy and Raq, no it wasn’t so clean and dried (I think.)  Godoy insists to Laura that despite her crazy theories, Raq and Santi are NOT guilty of murdering Caro or causing that accident.  +--Well, suppose that everybody did know about the affair, that Dam and Caro were getting it on, but they all stayed deaf, dumb and blind rather than face up to it.  Why does she say this?  Because that’s what she did with Godoy.

Mama Miriam has a conversation with Rueda.  He says Vicente’s attorney called him to let him know what’s what (a clear violation of attorney-client privilege I should imagine…..) with the accusation and his statement given to the police.  Vicente didn’t sign his name to the accusation and so it’s not a formal declaration (cause he couldn’t prove it, right).

Santi meets with Nacho and wants to know what he might have seen the day he called him to say Caro was at Dam’s office and looked and acted so odd.

Raq finally gives the boot to SinCin.

Mimi wants Rueda to convince Vicente to put his name on the dotted line and quickly.  Rueda thus visits Vicente and lets him know it would be to his advantage to do this.  However, before he give Vicente one red centavo, Vice has to sign that document and make sure he also tells Rueda the truth, and who else might have know about them, and above all, did his sister and Santiago know about the affair.

In the hotel room, Andres is hovering menacingly over Caro.  She accuses him of trying to get from her what he couldn’t get from her daughter.  She calls him a depraved, rotten pervert –a sicko.  He asks her if she’s going to deny sleeping with his cousin.  She fights him off and he demands she get naked.  His cousin isn’t any better than him and he wants to see the goods.  He wants to see just what caused his cousin so much excitement.  She slaps him and he grabs her face in his hands and screams at her that if she doesn’t do what he tells her the whole world is going to know what and what she is and her life will be ruined—so stop wasting time and get to it, NOW!!  She screams back that he’s a piece of shit.  He yells “—Slut” back at her then drags her practically by the hair and throws her onto the bed where he begins to rape her.

Jardinera, thank you for the excellent recap of a sad, very sobering episode.

"Cougar Boss-Lady likes hearing that. She also needs to hear she’s not looking too old and wrinkly these days, even though she’s getting very closed to her use-by date" was sublime and my favorite of many.

Perhaps it's just me but Santi and Raq don't often seem to be on the same page as to how things are handled. The gun a perfect case in point. Whether or not Antonio is trust worthy is uncertain.

If Laura does indeed have a heart, it's not obvious to me. She and Godoy are a strange couple. What is he seeing in her that I'm not? I see a rough exterior and jagged, not soft edges. She is endangering Lola's life further every time she speaks to her.

I love that Santi rid the house of Juan without any effort at all...

Mia is sick. And twisted.

Caro is cornered like a caged animal. I was so disgusted that Andres will likely get away with raping her. I rather thank that by being put in a coma, Damian has received a far lesser punishment than Caro.

Caro died from gun wounds. Whoever killed her wanted her dead. If she was not the primary target, Damian would have been shot right along with her.

Jardinera, thank you for relating all the events so well. A dark, disturbing episode for sure.

Diana

Santiago's treatment of Juan was the scene of the night for me.

Damian is staying in the coma because he knows once he awakes he will have to face the music.

Jar--I'm so sorry you got this episode. It was, as Diana said, dark and disturbing with the added crazy back and forth. But you recapped it valiantly. Thank you.

I wish we could have a little more of the excruciating conversation Raquel basically had with herself about all the reasons she and Santi can't be together. She was a total mess. She did say she adored him. What I got out of a single run-through was that if they went to bed together, they would always have Damian and Carolina in between them. Everything she said sadly made sense. Santi just couldn't reach her this time.

If I have time, I'll go back and get more of the dialog, if anyone needs it. Can't promise. I leave for Western Canada early (as in 6:30 am) tomorrow and I'm still packing. Won't have Uni where I'll be--so I'll be relying heavily on recaps.

Oh, and I was wrong about Cin having had Dam after he was married to Raq. Raquel herself said it happened BEFORE they were even married. So I don't exactly know what she was all worked up about--unless Raq and Dam were already engaged or were an exclusive couple.

Thanks Jardinera this was quite an episode.

What I am impressed/disgusted with is the ease with which Carol lies, she is an expert liar. She comes up with all of her lies at the drop of a pin.

Raquel is completely lost in her suffering, on the other hand Santi seems to be calm and collected. He may be the murderer. He may have found out about the affair an had them murdered. I still go back to the first episode, what was he so concerned about? What was that money for? Anyway just wondering why he is so calm.

Gracia, Jardinera.

I think Santiago is calm because he has no choice. He has three children to consider. His father was a cop who probably taught him about grace under fire. That might be why he explodes once in a while but then gets a grip.

Glad to see Nico defending his sister from that psycho Juan.

Thank you Jardinera for your stoic efforts. It helps to keep us up to date. Last night I decided to go to bed during the episode as I found it all too depressing. I guess there is a lot more of this to come.

Thanks Jardinera! I meant to comment earlier but my phone wouldn't let me and my comment disappeared lol

Looks like Andres has Caro and Damian en sus manos. He's perfectly capable of threatening to tell Raq and Santi everything he knows. I do feel bad for Caro because that doesn't give him the right to rape her. She likely won't be able to tell Damian that Andres knows.

Just when I thought Mia couldn't get any crazier she goes and does something like this. She better be careful or she'll eventually get caught. And her friend is just as crazy for going along with it.

Santi was right to put his foot down with Lola. There's no way I'd do what she did in my own house. She needs to get rid of Juan. He is not good for her. And Nico is making the same mistake with his new boss. She has probably done this before with other young male employees.

Yeah, it was depressing. I TA with Steve that Caro had it coming. Somebody needs to do a matching ballistic s text on that gun! And I bet it was someone else we haven't even met yet who did her in.

To clarify I meant Caro's getting knocked off not raped.

Thanks, Jardinera.

Such a shame that the only one thinking with a clear head is conniving Laura. Poor Caro, one slip-up and her whole life spirals down to hell. Any chance she brought a can a mace with her to the hotel room?

Mia (and her friend) needs a therapist so badly, but I do like that she's got a working brain. If only she'd use it for good instead of revenge.

Anita, safe travels! We will miss you...

Urban, I didn't realize (or didn't get/forgot) that Santi's father was a policeman. That might explain his calm demeanor. Somewhat.

My heart goes out to Caro. Subjected to rape and murdered. I am sure there will be other atrocities she suffered that will surface.

"One slip-up and her whole life spirals down to hell" says it perfectly Niecie.

I just don't think Adultery necessitated the hell Caro has gone through.

Diana

Diana: The list of Suspects in the Carolina Assassination continue to grow.

Thank you Jardinera. You started off with such a great line..."Laura and Lola are getting coffee. Well, Laura’s getting information and Lola’s getting screwed by the press." Particularly since the episode went downhill from there.

My favorite was when Santi told Juan the creep to have a little respect next time he talked to his daughter. Bravo Santi!

I can't decide who deserves the most horrendous anvil: Andres or Juan.

Thanks Jardinera
They should bring back Detective Ayala and Matilde from El Hotel as they would have this case solved in under an hour!

Watching AL getting assaulted is even more disturbing when you learn that she was already assaulted in Yo No Creo which means AL had to do the same disturbing scene once again.

A great observation, CountAlacran.

I covered that opening episode of YNCELH when she was assaulted by that villain, played by an actor who now has a GG trifecta. I have to wonder about why all of GG's novelas so far have so much violence against women.

BTW, I wish someone would come up with another novela for Detective Ayala. He was like a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot.

Feliz dis de las Gracias to all.

Ironically AL was abused for the second time in YNCELH by her skank ex played by Flavio Medina. Curiously Flavio's recent novela ,Yago also featured sexual abuse in which the "heroine" got abused twice first by an abusive client and later at the end by her hubby.

"I wish someone would come up with another novela for Detective Ayala. He was like a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot."

YES! Detective Ayala was some of the most competent characters we've found in TN's for a long time. He was respectful, had eye for detail, charming and incredibly entertaining to watch in his adventures. He definitely gave me memories of Poirot as I tended to watch lots of Poirot during my childhood. I always liked watching crime shows as they gave me a tiny inspection into a human's mind. If Hector Gomez makes a new period show Detective Ayala should be included again as he has no date of expiry! Perhaps a prequel show about him?
