Mi marido tiene familia Capítulo 54 Monday 11/6/17: Fears and Fallout-OR- There is no Peace for Julieta

Robert is left alone with his memories of abandonment and his fear of abandonment with Julieta. He goes running after Julieta.

Eugenio tells Imelda and Blanca that they will get their punishment if they did something to Julieta. Eugenio reminds them that Pablo will be the one to pay if they did something to Julieta. They need to think about that. Blanca looks worried. Imelda never really thought about that.

Robert runs out to the street to see Julieta before she drives away. He offers to take her to her mother's house again and she turns him down again. Eugenio appears and asks what is going on. Julieta is just leaving for a few days. Robert tells her he will be right there whenever she wants him and not to forget that he loves her. She also declares her love for him. He gives her the car keys and leaves. Eugenio asks if everything is okay with Robert. Julieta wishes that it were. She tells Eugenio to say goodbye to his mother and wife for her. She gets in the car and leaves a sad looking Eugenio on the curb.

Blanca has had a realization and tells Imelda: if Julieta has left it is because of them. Imelda doesn't see it that way. It is a result of everything that has gone on. Julieta is just so very difficult. Blanca is now worried how Juan Pablo is going to suffer. Imelda did everything she did to help him. Blanca thinks he must be very sad. Imelda says they will just have to console him so he doesn't feel alone. They are going to give him all the love that they haven't given him in years.

Belén is leaving the shop to make some payments. While she is gone, Amalia calls Aurelio. He wants Belén's number. That is not happening. Amalia starts lying saying that she talked to Belén about him and that Belén does not want to talk to him because she has a new boyfriend Idelfonso (very handsome with loads of $$$$) and does not want to lose him. Aurelio still wants to talk to her. Amalia can't see him making Belén cheat on her new boyfriend. He is really selfish. She hangs up.

Belén is mooning over Aurelio as she walks through the park looking sad and pensive. Suddenly, she sees him wherever she looks (everyman she sees has Aurelio's face)and smiles.

Robert calls Julieta. She is still driving. She answers the phone. He wants her to know that what she is doing could drive him crazy. He wants her to return as soon as possible. She wants him to take advantage of the time to get close to his family. If he needs the car, he just needs to let her know. He doesn't care about the car. She insists that what she is doing is good for both of them. They need a break. He needs her back. She wants to talk later because she is driving. She is going to her mother's house. Yes, she hopes to get her thoughts in order. Julieta drives on and cries.

Robert barely gets off the phone when Eugenio appears at his door. Eugenio sees his crying son and gives him a hug. Eugenio thinks back on his recent experience with Juan Pablo and having hugged him when they found out that they were father and son. Eugenio takes him to the bakery for some pan dulce and chocolate. Eugenio tells him that he will not be alone. Robert knows. They will be there for him all of the time. Eugenio knows that his mother and wife are imprudent but they do love Juan Pablo like crazy. That being said, he wants to know if they had anything to do with Julieta leaving. Robert says that they were part of it but that it really comes down to things between him and Julieta. Robert is just happy tha he found Eugenio; that he exists. Eugenio makes it clear that he can count on him until the day he dies and beyond. Eugenio suggests that Robert make the whole family supper tonight to get his mind off of things. He also tells him not to lose faith because if love is true it will always triumph in the end.

Catalina is having problems inflating an air mattress. Diana tells Bruno and Hugo to help out their mother. The brothers end up fighting like two kids but in the end Diana gets Hugo moving.

Daniela and Benjamín are walking along hand in hand on their date. It is totally new for her since she has never had a boyfriend. He makes sure she knows he has no doubts that she is the one he wants to be with. He kisses her lightly and she imagines it is Gabriel. When she pulls away and asks "you?", Benjamín asks "who else would it be?".

Gabriel is at work in his office trying to distract himself and trying to convince himself that he cannot be feeling what he is feeling. It is absolutely prohibited. Gabriel's assistant comes in and Gabriel asks what kind of a leader his assistant is because the employees just seem to do what they please. He asks is Daniela arrived. No, the assistant tells him that he Gabriel needs to show more authority. If Daniela won't obey the "big cheese" (Gabriel) what makes him think he will obey the assistant? Gabriel tries calling Daniela but she is not answering. He tries to distract himself throwing a ball against the wall but it ends up hitting him in the eye/forehead.

Robert talks to Xavi about how he thinks sometimes we take our worst fears and end up turning them into reality. Xavi says he always was terrified that his money would just dry up and he would not hear his songs on the radio any more. He could not sleep because of those fears. Robert says that the same thing is happening to him. He always was afraid of being abandoned again and now Julieta has left him. Xavi laughs pointing out that they are living what scared them both for a such long time: Xavi being broke and Robert in his loneliness. Robert can't see anything good in that. Xavi can. They are alive and not dead. Robert does not know how he will be tonight. Xavi tells him he will survive and Xavi will play his piano all night long so he doesn't feel alone listening to sad songs. Robert invites Xavi to the dinner. Xavi is reluctant because of the money he owes Blanca. Robert will take care of the money he owes. Xavi can pay him back after the show but tonight he wants him to help make supper. Xavi can't promise to be a good assistant but it is good that they are not alone.

Aristóteles tells Imelda that his dad lost his second job and that his mother is pregnant. He wants Imelda to help find his father a job. Imelda does not agree: he is not at the age to work yet. It is not his responsibility. Imelda will help them out. Blanca is also surprised by Polita's pregnancy.

Julieta comes home. Catalina warns her not to wait too long in leaving Robert alone because another woman could just swoop in and take him. Julieta refuses to be a slave to fear. She wants things to go just like they are supposed to. Diana welcomes her but Hugo and Bruno are just insulting and sarcastic. Bruno wants to know where the "independent" Julieta is. Hugo wants to know why the "perfect" relationship with Robert Cooper didn't work out. Catalina yells at the boys and promises Julieta all of their support.

While Octavio, Robert and Xavi make supper, Xavi tells him that when you hit bottom good things happen. Octavio agrees. Robert thanks them for being there with him because of the way he is feeling. Octavio tells him it is always good to let the suffering come through because it is through those feelings he can relive his past. That can be the key to his past. Robert mentions that he still cannot see the face of the woman that took him. Octavio has an idea for helping Robert: they can go through the family photo album and to try to think about every person and what he remembers about his experience with each and every one.

Catalina moves Julieta into her room. She can sleep on the inflated mattress. She brings her a box of her childhood toys and photos. Catalina asks if she feels well. Julieta says no, she doesn't but this is something that she has to do. Eventhough it is her mother's room, Julieta asks if she can leave her alone for a while. Catalina says no problem. She will be in the kitchen if she needs her. Julieta holds her doll and cries.

Gabriel is alone in his office playing his harmonica when Daniela stops by. She informs him that she is no longer busy so she came to work. He tells her to never do that again to him. To her complete surprise, he grabs her and hugs her as hard as he can.

Octavio and Robert are looking through the album when they run across a photo of Ana. Octavio asks who she is. Robert remembers being in a park. Ana, the wife of his uncle Tulio, took his bunny toy away. What else can he remember? Ana told him that she hated him.

After the bear hug, Daniela and Gabriela are still at it. She wants to know why the hug and why did he get like he did. He asks what she means by "how he got". She asks if he is not aware of the show he just put on. He was nervous. He was afraid that something happened to her. The way she is dressed some motorcyclists could have attacked her. Anyway, weeds never die. She wants him to tell her what work he needs done. Why did they call her? Gabriel doesn't know and she wants to know why he doesn't. She would like to think that he was nice and normal and she could trust him. Well, excuse him. He has just spoken to the most "normal" girl in Oaxaca. Daniela doesn't get it. First he hugs her and then he insults her. She thought they got along well. She doesn't understand why they are back with the same old arguments. Gabriel tells her that if she thinks over her actions, she might realize some things. She informs him that she has her new schedule so she can follow it. She came because he said it was an emergency but if he calls her tomorrow again, she is not coming in.

Octavio tells Robert not to pressure himself. Sometimes the mind plays tricks on us and we remember something that didn't happen the way we think. Suddenly, Robert is distracted by the smell of smoke. Xavi is clearly not a cook. Food is burning in the oven.

Blanca is unmolding a flan for Robert's supper and chatting with Ana. Blanca cannot believe that Julieta was capable of leaving. She is so sad that her son is all alone. Ana thinks that Julieta is doing it the right way. Blanca wants to know why she had to abandon him, leave. Ana understands. If Julieta didn't feel good there, things were just going to get worse. Blanca does not understand why Ana is defending Julieta. Ana admires people who refuse to live a life they do not want. They are brave. That is what Ana would have liked to have done. Blanca says there are so many things that she herself would have liked to have done but she let her cooler head prevail before she committed to anything crazy. Ana feels like life is passing her by and it isn't fair that she didn't really live. She wanted to travel and see new things. Blanca reminds her that it is better not to think about some things, because it hurts a lot. Blanca also tells her that she has the money to take a few days for herself. She can understand that Ana needs to breathe. She is a good woman. Blanca gives Ana some plates so she can join them for supper at Juan Pablo's.

Daniela asks Gabriel's assistant what is going on with him. Gabriel's assistant feels like he really cannot say but he gives Daniela a hint: Gabriel comes from a very rich family so maybe that is why he is not taking the next step.

Gabriel still is wondering why he is afraid of telling Daniela how he feels.

Marisol is handing out information about Xavi's presentation to his fans so they all show up.

Begoña and Ignacio get into it about Marisol being there at her restaurant with Xavi. Begoña wants the show cancelled. Ignacio just wants Begoña to to let the presentation go as planned. He does not want any more problems with Marisol.

Diana asks Julieta if she thinks she is doing the right thing. Julieta thinks that she does. The wedding is still on but she wants to arrive at that day completely sure of what she is doing. She also doesn't want to spend her life at her mother's house. She wants to make sure her head is straight before she makes any decisions. Diana is not happy but does not think she would be capable of taking such a big step to get rid of what is robbing her of her happiness. Isn't Julieta afraid that some woman will go after Robert? Julieta is sure Robert loves her so that is the least thing she is worried about. She worries about having to face his family and being blamed for the loss of the baby. Diana wonders what the solution is going to be. Will the things she is worried about change?

Linda is at work and Cornelio comes to see her with a paper flower he made with his own hands. She makes it clear that she does not like it when he stops by without calling. The big news is tattooed on his chest. He shows her a heart tattoo with her name. He wants her to know he is serious. Some words are abbreviated on the tattoo like PS: por siempre (forever). Linda is not happy. When he starts complaining about all he did for her, she tells him that he needs to stop playing the victim. He finally leaves. Linda returns to Brunos's Facebook page and tells his photo that she misses him.

Julieta curls up on her inflated bed and cries.

Octavio, Xavi and Robert keep working and talking. Robert wants to go and talk Julieta into coming back. Octavio doesn't think that is such a good idea because people need their space. Xavi agrees that she needs space to think what she wants to do with her life. Robert asks what if Julieta does not come back. Xavi tells him that all people have crises.

Robert goes to another room of the apartment for plates and glasses and just cries.

At the end of the shift, Gabriel looks for Daniela. His assistant tells him that she said goodbye to all of them and went off with Benjamín. Gabriel is upset that Benjamín was back on his property. No, Benjamin was not on his property. He was waiting outside for her in his car. Gabriel is so confused right now but does not appreciate that she left with Benjamín.

Benjamín has taken Daniela home and gives her another kiss. She runs into Marisol. They talk about the guys.

Cornelio comes over to Bruno's and complains to Bruno about Linda. Bruno does not want to listen to him talk about Linda anymore. They end up rolling around and fighting like little kids. They make such a ruckus that even Julieta comes out of the bedroom to see what is going on.

Catalina wants Julieta to help her get her household ahead. She cannot do it by herself. Diana just shakes her head. Catalina thinks Diana is good for nothing. Julieta leans against the wall and just closes her eyes.

I will fix the typos later.

Poor Julieta! No peace and quiet to be had at Catalina's house.

Jarifa, what an exquisite retelling of such sad events. Your detailed recap is much appreciated, thank you!

How can Blanca and Imelda be so selfish not to even think that they have done so much wrong and causes so much pain. Blanca seems to be getting a sense of it, but still tends to agree with Imelda.

Robert looked completely desolate yet he still defends his mother and tries to make his father feel better.

More later....

Wonderful Jarifa. Perfect title.

I cried for the first 10 minutes.

"Robert says the same thing is happening to him. He always was afraid of being abandoned again and now Julieta has left him". Seeing little Juan Pablo huddled in the corner on the floor crying for his mother was heartbreaking.

"Eugenio makes it clear that he can count on him until the day he dies and beyond". Yes. I believe him.

“Aristóteles tells Imelda that his dad lost his second job and that his mother is pregnant”. Good heavens, why would Ari impart that news to Imelda???? And he wants HER to find his father a job? Color me baffled.

"Hugo wants to know why the "perfect" relationship with Robert Cooper didn't work out". Blech. In the midst of Robert and Julieta's crisis, I just want Hugo, the loathsome Bruno as well as Cornelio (simply because he is beyond needy and irritating) to disappear from my screen. Blech.

There have been times I've liked Blanca but I don't care for her very much at this moment. She never displayed the sensitivity or empathy toward Julieta that she deserved. Julieta was the victim of too much family, too much intrusiveness and the loss of a child which is in and of itself reason for both fear and flight.

I was relieved to see Dani imagining Gabi's face when kissing Ben. Although, truth be told, that was the worst kiss I've ever seen :) Did her lips even connect with his?

Xavi is sweet.

Cat is to be blamed for her two loutish sons. But their sour and lazy dispositions are all on themselves.

I think Robert remembers the crucial missing piece from his past.

Jarifa, you've made my day. Thank you!

Diana

For anyone who saw Sueno...

I'm curious. Did anyone realize that shy Dani is played by the same actress who played sexy Anastasia (who slept with both Julian Gil's character as well his son)??? I knew she looked familiar but couldn't place her. It's the same face with a long blonde wig. Laura is a very talented actress.

Kind of blew me away :)

Diana

"Robert looked completely desolate yet he still defends his mother and tries to make his father feel better".

Our comments crossed RgvChick. What an insightful(and very true) comment!

Diana

Thanks, RgvChick and Diana!

RgvChick, yes, Imelda and Blanca are something else. They have not got a clue. When I thought Blanca was finally becoming a little sensitive to Julieta's situation, all she cared about what was how her absence was affecting Juan Pablo. Nothing else.

Diana, yes, Laura Vignati is very talented. I could not believe it was the same actress. Needless to say, I like this role better than her previous one. Can Julieta find any peace anywhere aside from her office at work talking to Luz? That seems to be one of the few places she can truly be herself. Too bad she could not have just headed to a hotel rather than having to deal with everyone else's agenda at her mother's house.

Jarifa - Thank you for your recap! I look forward to watching my recording this afternoon.
"Poor Julieta! No peace and quiet to be had at Catalina's house."
So true!!!

Snarky comments alert! I am harto y cansada with all these idiots.

" Eugenio reminds them that Pablo will be the one to pay if they did something to Julieta. . . . Imelda never really thought about that."
IMELDA only thinks about herself and what she wants.

"Juan Pablo is going to suffer. Imelda did everything she did to help him."
IMELDA certainly did everything she did ..... to help JP suffer!!!

"The brothers end up fighting like two kids but in the end Diana gets Hugo moving."
DIANA is just Hugo's second mother. Pathetic marriage those two have. I don't understand why Diana has not divorced him yet, unless she traded a dysfunctional family-of-origin for dysfunctional family-in-law.

"He (Gabriel) tries to distract himself throwing a ball against the wall but it ends up hitting him in the eye/forehead."
LOL poor guy! I can't wait to see this.

"Isn't Julieta afraid that some woman will go after Robert?"
DAPHNE has not left town yet, has she?

Cornelio needs to get a brain. Unbelievable that he tattooed Linda's name on his chest. Gah!

" They end up rolling around and fighting like little kids."
CORNY & HUGO have the emotional maturity of little kids. Emotional IQ only ten points higher than plant life. (no disrespect to plants!)

"Catalina wants Julieta to help her get her household ahead. She cannot do it by herself."
And therein lies the problem. CatDQ still looks at Julieta as a cash cow. An ATM.

And poor Ari, he is too young and naive to see that Imelda is poison and so NOT the person to tell about his dad's job loss.

doris, you are welcome. "harta" is the way I am feeling, too, with so many of these characters. Things have to turn around for Julieta soon, I hope, but then you did bring up Daphne. . . . : (

Jarifa: Julieta just cannot catch a break.

You got it!

Diana, "Good heavens, why would Ari impart that news to Imelda???? And he wants HER to find his father a job? Color me baffled. I was wondering the same thing! Why would anyone go to the selfish old biddy for advise, especially the young ones?? BTW, Aris was asking Imelda to help him look for a job for himself.

Doris, "CORNY & HUGO have the emotional maturity of little kids. Emotional IQ only ten points higher than plant life. (no disrespect to plants!)" That is SO funny and SO true!!

Jarifa, "Too bad she could not have just headed to a hotel rather than having to deal with everyone else's agenda at her mother's house. " That would have been so much better for Julieta, she really needs some alone time without having to deal with bumbling. selfish idiots. I do have to say, though; Cat is really trying to help Julieta and I'm glad about that.

Watching Robert and Julieta suffer was so hard. It’s so strange not seeing them together and I feel bad for Robert. He needs to understand his is for the best though. Sometimes couples need a little break. We know the relationship is still strong since Julieta said she trusts Robert not to go with another woman. I agree Rgv Chick. At least Cat seems to be genuinely trying to help Julieta. Maybe we’ll see some good growth out of this relationship.

I agree with “why would Aris tell Imelda”
Doris, I too find it really innocent of him to do so. A grandson trusting his grandma.....I don’t think he’s fully aware of the things she does. Also did it annoy anyone else that Imelda was almost angry about having a grandchild right after demanding a great grandchild from Julieta. Ugh. This woman.

“Although, truth be told, that was the worst kiss I've ever seen :) Did her lips even connect with his?” That made me laugh so much Diana. And I agree! I cringed during that kiss.

So Danilo told Dani that Gabriel has a rich family and maybe that’s why he isn’t saying anything. What do you guys think? Is Gabriel finding it difficult because of normal fear or because he’s afraid his family won’t accept her? Maybe both. Probably mostly afraid to be rejected?

There’s no peace for Julieta. Excellent title, Jarifa. When will she get peace?!?

-Jackie

Jackie, "Is Gabriel finding it difficult because of normal fear or because he’s afraid his family won’t accept her?" I really don't think Gabriel's hesitation has anything to do with his family. I think it's because Dani is so much different from the girls he had previously dated..Dani just doesn't fit the mold of the woman he may have envisioned himself with. Since they have portrayed him as distant from his family, I'm not sure how much he values their opinion of his choice of woman. OTOH, we really don't know much about his family, other than his father has him on short leash.

Jackie - Imelda would probably complain if she got a front row seat in heaven. 😜😜😜

Superb recap, Jarifa! Eugenio seems to be behaving rather well to Robert and Julieta--the best in the family. I loved the "guys preparing dinner" scenes. Xavi is almost as good a psychologist as Octavio, the professional. Imelda is such a hypocrite! But I think grandchildren don't necessarily see the flaws in their grandmothers, which might explain why Aris confides in her. I wonder if Polita's pregnancy will turn out to be a false alarm, despite the pregnancy test. I hope she finds a way to get to a doctor and have it confirmed.

Thanks so much Jarifa!!! Wonderful comments from the posters today!!

I too have no sympathy for Blanca or Imelda. They don't care one iota about Julieta or JP--only about their wants and wishes.

I was disappointed Rob didn't place more blame on Imelda and Blanca. I mean Juli never would have left if these two had acted better. I mean he didn't get upset when Juli told him how they went off on the wedding invitations and poured juice on them. He only asked if Juli was mad but why wasn't he mad or at least disappointed in them? How is that supposed to make Juli feel?

I too was glad Dani imagined Gabi when Ben kissed her that first time. I don't think Gabi is thinking about his rich family. I too think that Dani is so different and hostile towards him that he is too fearful to tell her the truth. Poor guy doesn't seem to have any friends either, because he called Juli when he needed to talk to someone.

Looks like we're on the same page here. We all seem to think Gabriel is just afraid of telling her because of how different she is. I agree that it freaks him out that Dani is not someone he thought he'd be with. He touched on it with his conversation with Julieta a couple episodes ago. He seems to slowly becoming into terms that he's got to do something.

Danilo's comment is still interesting to me. Foreshadowing- we'll be meeting Gabriel's family soon or at least learn why he's so distant from them?

Doris: haha yes Imelda probably would.

Carvivlie: You're right. Gabriel doesn't seem to have any other friends. Technically Dani doesn't either. I guess they're both loners- another reason why they would work well together :)

-Jackie

Jackie, thanks. I hope the Robert/Julieta relationship is solved soon. Thanks for using Danilo's name. I always forget and just call him "the assistant."

SpanProf, thanks. ITA about Aristóteles confiding in Imelda. For him, she is just granny.

Carvivlie, you are welcome. ITA about Robert not putting more of the blame on Blanca and Imelda. His inability to say "no" to either of them and sort of automatically giving them a pass has just further complicated the situation for Julieta and drove her away.

I worry that Danilo has now given Dani another road block to put in her way to keep Gabi at arms distance. We know how hard it is for her to admit her feelings when it comes to men and romance. Danilo is just arming her with more weapons.

Carvivlie, very interesting idea. It sure seems that Daniela will grab at anything to sustain her uncomfortable status quo.

Hugo and Bruno were lashing out at Juli because they don't want her there. She is an example that they want no part of---hard working and independent. I do give props to Catalina because she really does seem to be trying with Juli. She can't always help herself but she is trying.

I have to say I'm fearing this family dinner. Imelda doesn't have a filter, Blanca wants JP just for herself, Linda is mean, Marisol doesn't defend, Eugenio will try and lose, Dani will probably remain silent and Polita, Ari and Audi have their own problems so may not say much. If Ana goes she may say something that supports Juli but it will be taken badly and only cause an uproar....I wonder if Octavio will stay. Rob could use someone who cares about him and Juli and their relationship. Plus, it can be a teaching exercise for him!

Thanks, Jarifa.

Eugenio knows that his mother and wife are imprudent but they do love Juan Pablo like crazy. That being said, he wants to know if they had anything to do with Julieta leaving. Robert says that they were part of it but that it really comes down to things between him and Julieta.

Count me ticked too that Robert is being so kind not to blame the two metiches. If not for them stomping into Julieta's space as she mourned her loss, she and Robert would be working things out together instead of apart.

Eugenio suggests that Robert make the whole family supper tonight to get his mind off of things.

Why? So the biddies can complain that a man should not be in the kitchen or wearing an apron? Honestly, if they back Daphne when she makes a play for Robert -- and we know she will, she didn't move to Oaxaca from the U.S. for nothing -- I’m done with them for good.

I'm with you Niecie. If they support Daphne in her quest to conquer Rob, I'm through too.

I finally watched this episode. Yay! Those Bruno kisses were sweet-ish, but still tame, lame, and anti-climactic.

Dani and Gab might be the type couple that, once they get together, they'll lock themselves in someone's bedroom and not come up for air for three days!

"It sure seems that Daniela will grab at anything to sustain her uncomfortable status quo. "
So true, Jarifa. We humans often tend to stay in what is the known entity, no matter how uncomfortable it is.

" She is an example that they want no part of---hard working and independent. "
Carvivle - a very astute assessment of Hugo & Bruno!

Niecie in MD - Your prediction about the family supper and the "wimmin" fussing is quite right. The whole thing will be interesting to watch.
