Mi marido tiene familia Capítulo 56 Wednesday 11/8/17: Escape Routes

It was a night of technical difficulties. :(

We start in the shop where Blanca has come by asking about Belén. Amalia Informs her that Belén is ill. Blanca is concerned and wants to know why Amalia didn't tell her. Amalia didn't want to be a gossip. Belén woke up feeling sick but it is probably nothing. The real news is that Amalia ran into Aurelio and she made the mistake of telling Belén. She also feels it is not in their interest to see each other. Diana confesses that she is experiencing a problem in her own household where she and Imelda were being busy bodies and feel responsible for Julieta having moved out and leaving Robert. She adds that Julieta is only going to be gone a few days to think. Blanca asks if Aurelio wants to see Belén. Yes, he does but Amalia has no intention of allowing that to happen and Belén getting all upset. Blanca asks for the contact information so she can talk to him. Amalia is not giving her anything.

Robert is talking to Dafne. He asks her opinion about what she would do if she found out something serious about her family. Would she tell everyone or keep it a secret? It would all depend. Sometimes families come apart because of secrets that are hard to forgive. If he would tell her what the situation is, she could give him better advice. Robert says he thought he had been abandoned by his parents but now he remembers exactly who separated him from his parents. End of conversation.

Ana is frantically packing her suitcase and asking her driver Lázaro to take her quickly to the airport. Julián simultaneously is leaving his place.

Amalia finally gives Blanca the contact info for Aurelio. Belén arrives. She had a headache. Blanca gives Aurelio's contact info to Belén who immediately wants to know why Amalia didn't give her the contact information. Amalia starts with saying "Belén campanas de Belén" (first line of the Xmas song: Bethlehem, bells of Bethlehem) and then starts to berate Belén telling her to go running to Aurelio and telling him she is dying for him like a worm in a bottle of mezcal. Blanca is not happy with Amalia's attitude and tells Belén to talk to Aurelio if she feels that she needs to. Amalia adds that when Belén is left crying, Blanca can come over and console her. Amalia says a few more cruel things and leaves. Belén explains she wants nothing from Aurelio. She just wants to hear his voice and find out what he has done with his life. There are those days she just needs to know he existed. Blanca hugs her.

At school, Diana leaves her office. Aristóteles stops by her office and finds nobody there. Instead of leaving he looks at her desk where he finds the answers for the academic olympic questions and quickly snaps photos of them. He leaves without being seen.

At the restaurant, Xavi's manager complains to him that he was never told that Xavi was going to sell tickets for his performance. Is Marisol his manager or him? The manager knows his work and if they are not charging for the performance it is because Xavi is not in any position to be charging. If the performance goes well, then they can book others. His manager hopes that he didn't ruin things by selling tickets and that he can show them all that he isn't just some guy from the past. Xavi tells Marisol the manager does not believe in him. Marisol tells him that the place will be filled tonight.

Polita is walking on the street thinking about the cruel comments Imelda made about her pregnancy. She debates inquiring about a sales job she sees advertised on a building.

Aristóteles talks to Octavio and confesses what he did and justifies it by saying he is doing it for the greater good so his parents will be proud of him. No, Octavio is not angry with him. He is not there to judge Aristóteles. He is just there to help him understand himself and to know that our mistakes make us grow. Aristóteles wants to know what to do. Octavio tells him that what he did is going to change his life. Is he ready to face the consequences?

At the airport, Julián and Ana meet and kiss. She thought he was coming tomorrow. He said he would be with her so here he is.

Belén calls Aurelio. He answers with a a smile.

Xavi's fans are chanting his name before the performance. The place is full.

Julieta goes to the hospital to see Robert in his office. She didn't call him because he was so angry she was not sure he would talk to her. No, that wasn't the case but he has calmed down. He apologizes and so does she. She has come to a decision. He asks if they have to talk again. She answers yes, they do. They both sit down. She tells him that they have discovered a part of themselves they did not know. He wants to know what is her point. The wedding date is very close. She is there to call off the wedding because they are not prepared to take such a big step. It is clear he does not agree but keeps his cool the best he can.

Xavi's performance is ready to start. Nasty Ignacio makes a point of asking Marisol if she got away with it. Xavi prays and then is singing on the stage. His fans are all there enjoying the performance but Begoña decides to put an end to the performance by turning the electricity off and on. People start complaining about having paid for a show in this dive. Xavi tries to convince them otherwise. People start calling the show a fiasco and want their money back. Xavi's manager decides to call off the concert since all Xavi is doing is showing is his mediocrity. He tells the crowd that the only thing Xavi should do is return their money since he charged for a show he couldn't deliver. The crowd gets uglier.

Blanca goes to see Daniela who is still hiding under her blanket on her bed. She confesses that she is in love with two men.

Outside of Blanca's, both Benjamín and Gabriel are on the street getting up their nerve to try to see Daniela.

Robert says that cancelling a wedding is very serious. Julieta knows that but marriage is very serious. Robert says it isn't as if they just met yesterday. Jukieta just feels that at this moment they are not prepared. If she is no sure, Robert will not pressure her. They will not argue about it if that is the way she wants it. She reminds him that she is doing it for their own good and for him. Robert does not need her to give him any more explanations. She is a smart woman. She can decide what is the best for both of them. She goes to leave but then has to return for a hug. She asks him to just give her only a few days. It has nothing to do with him.

Blanca is surprised because Daniela always said that men didn't matter to her and now she ends up with two. Blanca wants to know who the two are. Gabriel interrupts the conversation by ringing the doorbell. Blanca invites him in. Benjamin is the next to arrive. She asks if they are "the two." They wonder out loud "the two what?" Blanca tells Daniela they are both there. Daniela tries to hide under the bed but Blanca pulls her out.

Dafne runs into Julieta and, of course, Dafne has to give her her two cents on Julieta's relationship with Robert. Dafne is so sorry that Julieta's relationship with Robert is ending like this. This is usually what happens when their are problems with abandonment. Julieta asks if she always uses her career training to cause problems. Dafne admits to no such thing. It is just that the theme of abandonment has appeared in Robert's life one more time and that their separation was inevitable. Sometimes the past conspires to work against us. Finally, Dafne leaves.

One of Marisol's friend is complaining that they admire Xavi but not enough to be throwing their money away. Marisol insists it is not his fault. Her friend does not know what to say. Begoña is watching it all smiling.

Aurelio and Belén talk. Aurelio is happy to be talking to her and tells her just hearing her breath gives him pleasure. So much time has gone by without knowing anything about her. She reminds him that he never tried to get in touch with her. He states that he isn't dare. He is intersted in getting back what they lost. He wants to take her for one of those strawberry malts she used to like. Her tastes have changed because she now prefers the vanilla ones instead. She is not sure she wants to face everything that would come with the. She will get in contact with him.

Xavi complains to his manager as Begoña is still smirking and watching from the end of the bar. His asks his manager why he is treating him this way. His manager comes clean with who he really is and how he just wanted Xavi to feel the same humiliation that Xavi made him feel long ago when he was just starting out in the business and Xavi was so famous. Laughing on his way out, the manager tells Xavi that he is going to have to sell that little piano of his because it is all he has left.

Daniela puts on her hoodie and sunglasses and wants to escape disguised. Blanca stops her. She begs Blanca to get her out of this situation. Imelda comes in wondering who the two guys are. Daniela says the two guys are two pizza delivery men. After finding out the truth, Imelda's insists her prayers to St. Anthony have been answered not with one man but two for Daniela. Blanca wants her to go out and be nice to them. Imelda wonders if one of them has a grandfather . . .

Finally Daniela comes out of her room into the living room.. The two guys argue. Blanca and Imelda watch from the door of the bedroom. Daniela ends up pushing both of them out. Imelda does not see how this is going to work. Blanca concludes that Daniela prefers furniture. Daniela returns to her room.

Benjamín and Gabriel continue their p****** contest out in the hall. They end up talking about settling it like in Rocky. Their weak and clumsy fisticuffs end up with them rolling out of the door back on to the street where Eugenio encounters them and tells them to get lost. Ignacio goes in to his home and asks Blanca, Imelda and Daniela if they know anything about those men. Daniela tells her dad she didn't ask them to come. Eugenio wants Daniela to tell those guys that his home is not a circus nor a wrestling ring.

Robert has called his adoptive parents to ask them for their advice. They talk some sense to him. It turns out that that his adoptive mother had a miscarriage and it was not easy at all. They cried a lot. They also understood that being in love didn't mean that they had to be stuck together all the time. Sometimes, people need time to heal alone. His step mother adds that then they came together to make the best decision evere: to adopt Robert and his brothers. Robert concludes that he has to give Julieta the space and time that she needs.

At his place, Xavi shows Marisol the social networks where he has been labeled "Lord Failure". He is now ready to accept that his dream is really over. He thanks her for all she did and asks her to leave as they both cry.

Robert stops by Ana's house to see Ana. Tulio informs him that she is at the airport. She is going to México, D.F. Robert wants to know if Tulio remembers anything about the day that Robert was taken. Tulio says that Ana was hospitalized because of her third miscarriage. Is Tulio sure? Yes, because they received notification of him missing when they were still at the hospital.

At home, Blanca asks Robert if he needs something to eat. Blanca hates to see him suffer. She hopes Julieta returns and has faith that she will. Robert tells her that tomorrow rhe two of them will go out together.

Julieta talks to her mom. Her father is in Oaxaca and she is going to see him. Catalina does not want her going to see the man that abandoned them. If she goes, she will disown her.

Tulio wants to know the name of the man Ana is cheating on him with. Lázaro the driver will not give up the info on Ana at first but ends up giving Julián's name to Tulio.

Ana and Julián are staying at a hotel at the airport. Julián wants to sleep with her. Ana is not interested. She needs to talk to Tulio. She sends him off to his own room. Julián visits Ana later that night and is all over her. Tulio calls and tells her he knows who she is cheating on him with. She decides that Julián has to go. Julián calls Robert and is on the verge of telling him the truth about Ana having taken him as a child as Ana screams "No!" in the background.

So many questions . . . is what we were left with.

I sure am curious what Julieta's meeting with her father is going to be like.

Anytime Robert gets to talk to his adoptive parents are good scenes. I wish they would come and visit him.

Daniela and her two suitors were a hoot.

Looks like Julián is going to let the cat out of the bag.

Jarifa, your recap is rays of pure sunlight puncturing the dark, misty clouds that are enveloping this story.

Of course the title was perfect. "...starts to berate Belén telling her to go running to Aurelio and telling him she is dying for him like a worm in a bottle of mescal" and "Xavi's manager decides to call off the concert since all Xavi is doing is showing is his mediocrity" were my favorites of many.

"There are those days she just needs to know he existed" made me sigh.

There was overwhelming sadness and too many raw wounds. First, Julieta cancelling the wedding, further widening the gap between her and Rober. The heart and soul are out of synch, lost and hurting. Other events to mourn: Polita walking the streets, hurt and confused; Ari’s poor judgement, any scenes at all with Begoña and Daphne, Xavi’s undeserved humiliation. On and on.
.
“Robert and his brothers”. Did we know Robert had more than one sibling? His parents give such sage advice.

The only happiness was watching Dani and her two men. I loved the way everything went down last night, Dani hiding in her hoodie, getting under the bed, Blanca's surprised (but rather impressed with) Dani's several suitors. The "weak and clumsy fisticuffs" descripted the "rumble" perfectly. I'm not sure how Dani is going to come to any sort of conclusion if she doesn't get Beni out of her system once and for all. I say that as I'm fairly sure Gabi is end game.

I love that Robert has realized the truth about Ana and has managed to remain rather calm. I have no pity for Ana. Nor for Julian and Tulio. This triangle will not end well.

All is not right with the world. Yet, there is still hope. Darkest before dawn, right?

Jarifa, utterly wonderful. Thank you!

Diana

Jarifa, thank you for the recap! I look forward to watching this.

Diana, I don't remember any prior mention of Robert having siblings.

Hopefully Polita will apply and get that job. They certainly need the money.

I'm beginning to wonder if Amalia had anything to do with Belén's husband leaving her. Amalia seems to want everyone to be as unhappy as she is. Why else would she be sabotaging Belén right now? I think jealousy is at the root.

Julieta seeing her father should be interesting. We might get some insight into why he left CatDQ (as if Viewerville can't already figure that one out-LOL)

Thank you! I loved Blanca having to pull Daniela out as she was squirming to get under the bed. I cannot see Daniela ending up with anyone but Gabriel. The only problem is tat they are going to have to tell each other how they feel. If they could skip that step they would probably be together already.

You are welcome, doris. ITA that Amalia is jealous of Belén and now with Aurelio back maybe Amalia could end up all alone.

They mentioned way way back towards the beginning that Robert had brothers(?) I do not think there were sisters but I could be wrong.

Another superb recap, Jarifa. Hermanos can mean siblings, brothers + sisters. Daphne was one of his adopted siblings and I believe there were others. Robert's adoptive parents are great role models! Not only is Dave a cruel jerk, but he's an idiot. It looked as if Xavi's comeback was on the verge of making Dave a lot of money. The only bright side is that all this could have a very negative effect on the Begoñá, Dave and Ignacio triangle. Marisol needs to contact an investigative reporter. I too hope Polita applies for that job. ITA that the DAni, Benjamín and Gabriel episode was hilarious! Julieta certainly has Daphne's number!

Thanks Jarifa!!!

Dafne isn't one of Rob's siblings. She was adopted too but by another family. They all went to school together. We know Rob has at least one brother from the phone call he got that he had found his birth parents--I think that was episode 1.

Dani wants Gabi but her past feelings for Ben are holding her up. I mean how can she pick Ben and his button down sweaters? I hope she doesn't take into consideration what Danilo said either about Gabi's wealthy family.

Outstanding, Jarifa, with vivid details...thank you!!

I really enjoyed the Dani/Benjamin/Gabriel scenes...hilarious and a nice break from the depressive events surrounding our protags...with matching PJs again!

I too liked Robert's adoptive parents...so different from the Corsega's. I'm glad Robert had them to turn to, especially since they went through the same thing Robert and Julieta went through in regards to the miscarriage.

SpanProf, I didn't realize Daphne was one of the adopted siblings. I thought Robert and she had just grown up as friends. And yes, Julieta knows what Daphne is up to...and I admire Julieta for not letting Daphne get to her.

Carvivlie, our comments crossed. Thanks for clarifying about Daphne.

"I mean how can she pick Ben and his button down sweaters?"
Carvivle - LOL!!! 😄

SpanProf, thanks! You are so right about Polita. If she could just take that step it could change her family's life immensely.

Carvivlie, thanks for remembering the phone call from way back when like maybe the first epsiode.

RgvChick, yes, the whole Daniela adventure is welcome comedic relief from all of the other dire happenings. Things have to start to turn around soon, right?

Last night was more proof how damaging Imelda's comments are to her family. I felt so bad for Polita--remembering those awful words that "she doesn't do anything and has no experience to do anything". We know Polita was abandoned and Audi "saved" her but we don't know the details or how young she was. Possible she didn't finish school and got married right away to Audi. I hope she does get a job--if only to boost her self esteem. We know she doesn't cook and is scared of cleaning (!). Just as Audi needs real work to boost his self esteem, so does Polita.

I felt really bad for Xavi. I hope he is out from under that contract now. If only we had the kids from Caer that could come over and burn down Begonia's restaurant!

Doris, I actually think Amalia has good cause to keep Belen away from her ex. Apparently, years ago he ran off with his lover and left Belen, leaving her heartbroken. And now he wants to chat? If I was Belen's sister and had to witness the years of heartache and inability to move on, I would want to protect her too. And kick and hit him (like Dani did to Icky).

Diana, I don't know what to think of the toxic triangle. Tulio and Julian are both threatening Ana with telling the truth if she doesn't stay with them. Tulio basically has her held hostage. I do have sympathy for her. I don't want to but I do. For 34 years she has lived a miserable, lonely, anxiety ridden, guilt filled life and now she is completely cornered ---unless of course she tells the truth. Rob has found his family. I want her to be free to move on now too. I want she and Tulio to divorce. Julian to go to jail. and Ana to move away and begin life anew.

Maybe Robert just said at some point that Daphne was like a little sister to him?

Yeah SpanProf, that's what he said. When they were looking through Rob's album, there was a picture of the two of them at prom or something and he said she was like a little sister.

"If only we had the kids from Caer that could come over and burn down Begonia's restaurant!"

Thanks Carvivlie. I laughed out loud.

Diana

Carvivlie - Thank you for explaining the Aurelio/Belén relationship. My comprehension of Spanish is not good enough and the fact that he left her for a lover totally went over my head.

I got to watch this during lunch. Oh, I just loved the Gab/Ben scenes. Like two stags locking horns!
Poor Dani, bless her heart. A lifetime of feeling unloved and then, when it rains it pours. I think I would want to hide under the covers, too.

Thanks, Jarifa. Great title.

After finding out the truth, Imelda's insists her prayers to St. Anthony have been answered not with one man but two for Daniela.

I’ve been ticked at the two metiches all this week, but between them, Dani, and her two guys, last night was a lot of fun. Bravo.

Looks like they're working up a redemption story for Ana. With the third miscarriage she could've been suffering from something like PTSD when she stole Juan Pablo away. But how in the world can her silence watching Blanca and Eugenio's pain for 34 YEARS be wiped away?

Thanks, Niecie. ITA about Ana and her silence for 34 years. Her actions caused so many people pain either directly or indirectly. It will be interesting to see everyone’s reactions as the secret leaks out because it has to.
