Caer En Tentacion #16, 11/7/17: The Party's Over
Parte 1~~
• Raquel has it out with Miriam. “—You’ve always had it out for me! However, have some compassion for your granddaughter! How dare you show me such disrespect in front of her??? If you must know, we wanted to learn more about how and when YOUR son started the affair with my friend, HIS wife, Carolina!” “—Oh, now it’s my [helpless, prostrate, dying] son who’s to blame for all this?!” (In a word, Yes.) Raq leaves the room in a cloud of consternation. Santiago, with his signature pained puppy-dog eyes and expression, gives Miriam a sad look of pitiable disgust and leaves. Mia, on Abue’s side, tries comforting Mimi, who explains that if Daddy dies, the family money—Mia and her brother’s inheritance, passes to Mama and the kids are doomed!
• Laura continues questioning Lola, who’s been trying to explain till she’s blue- and black in the face that she was absolutely ignorant of her mom and Damian’s affair. Laura notes the bruise on Lola’s face and asks who did that. Lola lies that it must have been Benji by accident. Laura is skeptical and tells her she can help her out of that problem. Then she changes the subject back to who was Patricia’s lover and did she know him or ever speak to him? Lola lies again. “—Nope.” She promises Lola total confidentiality, and says if what Patti told her, especially if she and the guy, were her lover (??). Just then, Laura takes a call and says they’ll finish this all later and leaves.
• Godoy’s at home waiting on Laura to get home. He wants to know how she knew all about Patti Vargas. Laura’s asking for her lawyer first and pleading the 5th . He says to stop kidding around. She’s compromised a number of his leads and confidants he ‘s been working on with her big mouth. She’ll only tell him that she thinks she knows who killed Patti and won’t give up her source. “--Patti must have told you about what she and Carolina’s daughter did together and if she was involved with the girl’s suicide?” “—They only hung around together in high school. Here, if you want to know more, then track down Patricia Vargas’s lover.” She hands him a piece of paper (with his name and address on it?)…..He leaves the room and Laura calls Lola back. She says the police now have that name and will investigate. It’s up to you to do your part now.
• Santi comes home and tries to find out where she was. She’s supposed to help him with the family, remember? She gets huffy and then apologizes. She asks where he’d been. Santi says he went to Valle de Bravo to find out things from her uncle. Why? “--Because he knows more than he’s telling us!” Like? “—Like that your Mom and Damian bought a lodge together and when she told us she was going to visit your aunt she went to meet up with Damian there.”
• Godoy comes to visit Lisa and question her. She’s ready to tell her what she knows about her ex-SIL. She takes a look around before letting him enter her house. Vicente appears from the shadows. Yup, he’s been spying on her.
• Santi visits Antonio and they’re both eager to determine who must have killed her. Tonio tells him about the black car and that Caro was upset at possibly recognizing that car. He mentions that they found the shovel with traces of blood on it and are analyzing the blood traces; he advises that they’re questioning Vicente’s ex-wife for something Caro may have told her that she never shared with Santi. Santi is adamant that they investigate Vicente more because he’s certain the guy knows much more than he’s let on up to now.

Parte 2~~
• Turns out that Federico needs medicine but when Raq tries paying for them, she learns she’s been cut off from all her credit cards and has no cash to buy anything with. He’s got to do without. He later tells his Tia Cinthia, who gives him the cash she has in her pockets. Her big sis has done so much for her, it’s her turn to give back and no, she doesn’t mind at all. Fedi thanks her.
• At the plant, Miriam has assumed Dam’s chair at the desk in his office and informs Andres that Raquel no long has access to any sort of funds. “—The party is over for Raquel.” The idea is to leave her penniless. Rueda, the legal mouthpiece says Mimi’s in her right in doing this. Mim’s now running things since Dam’s no longer able to. And, BTW, Andy, “--you have some accounting to do for the sloppy bookkeeping around here. The. Party. Is. Over.”
• 3 years earlier: Nico is heading off to a party. Where’s Lola? Oh, she’s already gone ahead to that party. He want’s to walk to it alone, but Santi won’t let him. He tells him he’ll driver him there and they will look for Lola since he’s worried about her. Nico’s not too happy but off they go. Once they get to the party, Nico finds Patti, who’s been watching Lola make out on the dance floor with the Gym Teach.
• Lola and Juan have left the party together a bit before Nico shows up looking for her. Nico and Patti flirt a bit and she tells him where Lola’s gone and with who.
• Meanwhile, Caro is doing a bit of CYA by spending the night with Lisa after Vicente’s gone off drunk. They talk about how they married young and crazy in love with Vicente and Santi.
• Back at los Becker, Dam checks his texts for one from Caro. Raq joins him downstairs all googly eyed after one of the best (CYA) bouts in bed with Dam. She then realizes that the kids still haven’t made it home yet. They begin calling around for them.
• Mia and Fedi are sneaking around with a knife and a ball bat at the party Joquin and the posse are attending. They find Mr. Popular’s SUV his daddy’s lent him for the evening. Mia slams the bat into the windshield: whap, thump, crash! Mia smiles as she smashes its windows and Fedi dutifully stabs his knife into the tires. They race off behind the trees, and then video the surprised Mr. P as his peeps and the other party-goers view the damage done to Daddy’s vehicle. OH NOES!!!!
• Mia and Fedi finally check in and say they’re on their way home. Dam calls Caro after receiving a text asking him if he can talk. She moans about her abused SIL. She’ll be back home the next day.
• Caro arrives and finds Santi asleep on the couch. Lola wakes up in Juan’s bed, totally naked. She realizes she should have been home hours ago and doesn’t know how she’ll explain things to her dad—but yes, it was a good roll in the sheets with Juan.
• Lola gets home and lies to Carol that she was at Wendy’s for the night. Well, her Dad's upset. Sorry, but ..... Nico sneaks up later and has been eavesdropping. He tells her she’s a liar and to fess up cuz he knows she left the party with her teacher. She stares daggers at him and keeps her mouth shut.
• Just then, Dam and Raq arrive with a snack. In the kitchen while she and Caro are preparing it all, Raq brags about the wonderful roll in the rack she and the hubby had the night before. Caro is secretly hot under the pet collar.
• Currently: Raq is sitting with Dam in the IC room complaining to him about how he cheated on her and now he’s left her and the kids unprotected cuz Mama Mimi is throwing them all out into the cold, cold snow with just the shirt on their miserable backs. Suddenly she notices that Dam has tears flowing out the corners of his closed eyelids.
• Mike visits Andres in his office and shuts the door. He whines to Andres that the police came to his house to investigate Patricia’s death; but, luckily didn’t find him there as he’d been off over the weekend. However, he’s certain they’re there because Lola opened her mouth. Andy says not to worry since there’s nothing to connect him to Pati’s death. Oh, but there is: Mike threatened Lola to keep her mouth shut or he’d kill her. He needs Andres to warn Lola—speak to her. Not on your life! He’s been there and done that and no can do anymore. Well, Mike’s lawyer advised him to leave town till things blow over. “—Look, you’ve got to warn her that if she opens her trap she’s going to die!”
• Lola tells Nico to mind his own business. It’s her life and she doesn’t need him running off to Daddy telling him stories. He says then it’s true that she and Pati did that …“stuff” together. Lola’s expression turns sour. “—So you know?” “—Everything. And you disgust me.” Lola is speechless. --Word’s gotten out apparently (thank you, Patricia) and she has no idea what went on but won’t tell Nico a thing…..
• In the dining room, Raq and Santi go out for something else to go with the food (?) and they leave Dam and Caro alone to relax and to chat a bit. The minute they’re alone, Caro lights into Dam for having made love to his wife “two minutes” after having spent the weekend together and his making love to her! He tries to explain that it was a necessary act of CYA. Well, too bad. It’s over and that’s that! Suddenly they notice Lola at the doorway, and she’s looking suspiciously at them. Ruh-Rohhhhhh!!

Jardinera, clever and all encompassing summary of (yet another) very sobering episode.

It's hard enough to imagine that Miriam could be quite so cold and callous but above and (below) that, trying to enlist Mia who actually seemed to be taking her side was difficult to fathom.
It's more than disconcerting that Mia and Lola continue to provide damning evidence of how disturbed they truly are. Mia's face was rather "Joker" like as she swung that bat with palpable brutal force. Lola lying through her teeth, slithering in and out situations (and liaisons) was equally upsetting.
Godoy and Laura on the periphery, are in a hell of their own making. Laura is almost as frightening as Mia.
I think Vincente is a red herring. As sick as he is, I'm not certain he is on a lower rung than anyone else here.
Caro is playing with a seasoned, veteran adulterer. Having your lover be with his wife is one of the pitfalls of cheating Caro.
Miriam knows full well she is punishing her grandchildren as much as Raq. What a monster.
I wonder if Dam is hearing everything?? What earfuls he must have heard already.

I wonder if Caro went on a "much needed" few months' vacation, took Lola with her, and came back with Baby Benjamin (Lola's) ... with or without Santiago's knowledge? He seemed to believe everything she told him and she has been covering up for Lola.

Damian sure knows how to play the role of doting husband well so that Raq won't suspect he's cheating. Obviously I don't think Caro would be the type to rat him out and blame the whole thing on him. She's already in too deep and probably has more to lose.
I'm sure there's more to come of the aftermath of what Mia and Fede did. I'm surprised he went along with it.
We may very well be one step closer to Damian waking up. He's showing signs of at least being semi conscious.

Jar - Many thank yous for your endeavor. I just started to read the recap and ran across this part, "Mia, on Abue’s side, tries comforting Mimi, who explains that if Daddy dies, the family money—Mia and her brother’s inheritance, passes to Mama and the kids are doomed!" Just as detestable and nasty was her insinuation within the sentence that Mia and Fede's inheritance would go to "that man" and your mother. Insignificant item to leave out, but a powerful image to give Mia.
Carvivlie - It appears that all of the accounts were in the name of the corporation. Miriam is part owner with Damian and titular head while Dam is out of commission. Who on earth puts household accounts in the name of the business? I thought it was against the law to use a corporate account for personal expenses. But then Miriam also said the house was in the name of the corporation. It would seem to me that Dam would have realized that if the business went under, he'd be left destitute, as well. Where are your off-shore accounts when you need them, eh? In Paradise?

So as long as Damian is alive, Raquel has no cash to buy medicine and food for the family. (Poor Frederico, having to rely on Cynthia for his meds). Might be a motive for Raquel to smother or unplug Damian....

Jar - Just finished the pleasure of reading your recap. You capture the moments with crystal clear language, with humor stuck in where appropriate.
Poor Lola, besides her own secrets, she will now have Dam's and her mother's. So, she lied to Laura three years later when she told her she didn't know of their affair. Mia takes care of her feelings of anxiety and inadequacy by cutting herself, then she seems to be normal again for awhile. Lola has no escape valve. I wonder if she realizes what a big mistake Juan is, in giving in to him. I have to assume, based on earlier scenarios, that she was a virgin for any man, but we don't know what she and Patricia got into, unless that relationship was based on the lies Patricia spread.
Damian has Raq so bamboozled, no wonder she had those two breakdowns with Santi and her wrenching diatriabe pitched at the comatose Dam on a couple of occasions.
I agree Vicente is a red herring in the murder of his sister, but he's a nosy stalker, vindictive and can harbor a grudge. He knows more than he's spilled so far.

People in comas have reported being able to hear conversations around them. We know that Damian had some sense of awareness because he "woke up" when they mentioned Carolina (I don't think he knows she's dead, though).
He's hearing the pain & sorrow he's left Raquel & the kids in and I'm sure he's very sorry they had to be hurt but he's not sorry he took up with Carolina.

I don't know if Lola was a virgin but I do know if we saw one of our classmates in HS making out with a teacher, that would've been a schoolwide scandal and you can't blame Patti on that. I don't know where Lola would've gotten it into her head that having sex for money was a cool thing to do instead of getting a part time job for extra cash. She's got a job now so clearly Santiago didn't forbid her from working.
Carolina needs to sit down with getting angry because Damian is having sex with his wife. He's not cheating on YOU, girl.
If Miriam has Raquel & the children tossed out into the streets, just go live in Damian's love shack until she can find another place.
People in comas have reported being able to hear conversations around them. We know that Damian had some sense of awareness because he "woke up" when they mentioned Carolina (I don't think he knows she's dead, though).
He's hearing the pain & sorrow he's left Raquel & the kids in and I'm sure he's very sorry they had to be hurt but he's not sorry he took up with Carolina.

Damian really didn't do much to take care of his family. He knows how Mimi feels about Raq but I guess he never thought that if something happened to him she would use the nuclear option on Raq. Mia is certainly an enigma. She seems to have no loyalty to her mother but I can't see why, knowing her father is the guilty party. I can't help but wonder if she is psychotic and really should be on mental health drugs.

After seeing that tollbooth security video again last night, it occurred to me that Caro may have recognized the person in the mysterious car in the next lane because it was her accomplice. Let's say she was in cahoots with, um, say, Andres. (We know how resentful and unscrupulous Andres is. And last night we got to see a little of Caro's darker side with her reaction to Dam's "infidelity.") Regardless of who the accomplice was, perhaps the plan just went horribly wrong. Or maybe the accomplice double-crossed her. (Betrayal is surely the Flavor of the Month). ... just a thought.
BTW, the gang is planning a carne asada (they're going to fire up the old Weber) and Raq and Santi have gone to the market for meat.

Did we ever hear about when or how her husband died? How old was Damian when that happened? How was Damian able to rescue the pasta factory if his father had become bankrupt?
Could Miriam have killed her husband for his life insurance? She's cold enough.

I thought Caro might be able to conclude why Dam had such a major roll in the hay with his wife. She knew he got that phonecall when they were at the cabin and that he was talking to andres and then Raq— that there was a problem and she was clearly very very worried that they had already been found out or were about to be found out, so she might have taken a logical leap forward that he would have to perform some “miracle”” in bed when he arrived home to convince/win over the supicious Raq.
There is way too much dysfunction and too many sicko characters in this TN. However, i confess that i’m enjoying the suspense!!,
